Daisy Chain

I wrote a little thing for @guppyscolita because this picture of Zetsu is too damn precious. Features Zetsu, my OC Takara, and their OC Seiya.

The thin, fragile stems of young daisies find themselves betwixt fingers much the same way. This day, however, these gentle fingers will be the blossoms’ demise.

Pinch, pinch.

Over her shoulder, two strange men sit and watch. Seiya basks in the rays of a warming sun while Zetsu basks in him like a heat lamp. The earth is still cold and the air still brisk…so the star is refreshing to be near. How interesting, he thinks…a girl from the stars and a boy who is one. A bit paradoxical, perhaps.

But conundrums aside, Zetsu is still content.

The woman has stopped her culling of the flowers and is now positioned to face them. Accidentally or not, a performer enraptured begins to tug the stems of her victims every which way… Twist, in, twist, out… The lighter half of him begins to realize:

“Oh, she’s weaving.” And darker adds: “But for what purpose…?”

All you can do is wait and see. The natural fibers interlock longer and longer, becoming like a rope-- though a useless one. What point is this…? A couple ideas bounce back and forth. Simple whimsy is one…occupation of her fingers is another… But there comes a point where no other daisies are left. White whines under his breath disappointment, but Black is still watching.

She doesn’t look disappointed at all. In fact, the expression on her face is…satisfaction.

He didn’t realize it was supposed to be a circle until it’s all closed up.

And then as if she was aware he was staring all along, the woman beams at him.

“A daisy chain!” She tugs at it, ever so gently, to demonstrate that she has, in fact, made an object.

“…What’s it for?”

“For? Um. Well.” He watches her squirm a moment, mouth pursing, unpursing, but then…she brightens.

He watches the ghost get off her knees, walk over to him…and then her arms rise. Any time she chooses to be this close to him…it’s of note, really. It isn’t often.

It takes a second for the tickle of green-white petals on his collarbone to be noticed.

“It’s for you!” she decides.

The pale half of Zetsu’s face is awed, eye widening and lips parting ever so slightly. As that side is speechless…the other begins to reach down. It’s long claws curl around the tiny little strings. She knows those fingers well, the girl does. They’re decisive, they’re rough. A strike in her heart as she anticipates that grip to tear it apart--

But she doesn’t know those fingers as well as she thought. It…plays with them. His talons, oh so slowly, mindfully even, twirl and brush and-- yes, maybe-- adore what is between them.

“Thank you,” and once again, White is surprised to have his tongue caught while Black hums his pleasure instead.

I have a type and it's Major Character Death

So I had a hysterectomy today (hooray!) and I brought along my stuffed orca, Shamu, as a comfort object. And everyone i interacted with during my pre-op was like "Oh! Who's this?" so I was telling them all about him, how he's been with me since I was 9 and gone on every single vacation and road trip, and they were telling me about their own stuffed buddies (one lady said she still has hers after 40 years!) and all of this while I was signing consent forms and providing a list of the things I'd brought with me, you know, small talk.

So then a nurse comes over and goes "Okay, I've got some stickers I'll put on your things so we know they're yours" and I'm like "OK cool" so she puts a sticker on my coat and stickers on my bags of clothes and then she turns to Shamu and I'm like "oh I guess he gets a sticker too"

But no. She pulls out a hospital bracelet that's an exact copy of mine and slaps it on his tail, like so:

And i was delighted by this, so I took a picture to send to my friends, who were equally delighted, and were cracking me up with their reactions (like so:)

Anyway, they take me back and put me under, and when I awake groggily a few hours later it takes me a minute to get my bearings, so I don't notice Shamu at first. But then I realize he's tucked up next to me in the gurney, so I grab him, and my hand touches gauze.

And I'm like "huh?" so I look at him and I realize

They gave my fucking orca a hysterectomy

we do need to revisit the wording of "you can't have your cake and eat it too" because i don't think it clearly enough conveys that it's more that you can't simultaneously retain a cake and also get to consume it (which would render you cakeless). for years i was like But why not....it's my cake....?

Someone at an old job asked why I wanted to write up the meeting minutes for our team and I said 'i wanna control the narrative' and they were like 'what' and I pointed out that no one was gonna remember what we said in six months and so my interpretation of the meeting would dictate the assumed reality of what happened

there is a bill named the SAVE act which would require americans to provide their birth certificate, passport, or other citizenship documents every time they vote, and would require the last name on their driver’s license to match that of their birth certificate. this would prevent married women who have changed their last name from voting.

bill h.r.1161, which is available publicly on congress.gov, would authorize trump to enter into negotiations to acquire greenland and to rename it to "red, white, and blueland".

every single republican told us we were overreacting. trump swore he had nothing to do with project 2025 yet continues implementing details outlined in it. not a single person has the right to tell us we’re being dramatic anymore.

hope “cheaper eggs and gas” was worth it.

EDIT: i removed the “trump refused to swear on the bible” point because it was being taken as me being an offended christian. i’m not christian, im agnostic. the reason i included it in the first place is because he’s the first president in history to ever refuse to swear on ANYTHING. meanwhile his “conservative christian” followers had no issue with this, and decided to continue to scramble for excuses instead of admitting he may not be as religious as he claims he is. i figured taking that point out entirely is probably better than filling this with an explanation in the middle of the other important issues.

okay so i work in the deli of a grocery store, yeah? and today i got this guy who came up with his two twin children, around five years old. he walks up to the counter, carrying one kid in each arm, and loudly goes "oh, no, i forgot what i wanted!" and turns to the boy in his left arm and, in a perfect blues clues style voice, goes "caleb, do you remember what i wanted?" and the boy goes "half pound of yellow cheese!"

i, obviously, say "you've got it little sir!" and slice up half a pound of yellow american cheese, handing it to the little boy, who looks it over, nods, and tucks it in his lap.

then the man goes "well, we can't just have cheese on our sandwiches. but what else can we put on there?" and the little gurl in his other arm goes "half pound of ham!" so i nod and say "yes ma'am! what kind?" and she points at a random cut of turkey, so her father nods and says "like she said, honey ham!" i cut half a pound of honey ham, hand it to the little lady, she looks it over, nods and puts it in her lap.

then the man goes "now, what should we have for the side?" and the kids both simultaneously start cheering "macking cheese!!!" and the man spins on his heel and marches off, presumably to find the macking cheese.

later, the little boy comes wandering back to the counter while his father looks on and loudly and proudly proclaims that he wants to know where the mustard is. i point him to the correct aisle, he nods, says "thank you mister deli woman" and walks away.

FUCK BLUEBERRIES

I actually like the taste of everything on this list as far as I remember, but something about blueberries [and grapes,,and strawberries] force me to carefully inspect each little one and if there's anything off about it I can't eat that blueberry. Even if it's just cause like,one little bit of the berry is that weird soggy or is a bit deflated,it will not enter my mouth and sometimes the texture of them in my hands is too much
