Happy birthday in Heaven, Talia. She would be 24 today.

Here is the tribute event to memorialize her in 2013. It’s been ten years. Time sure flies…

I’m going to let this go, but I will continue to paint my toenails mint every summer in memory of her.

Self-Made

When someone is sick it is natural to want to help them, care for them and comfort them making their life easier and allowing them to rest and hopefully get well. Most people relish this time to relax and be cared for however there are some that take this time to bring change. Talia Castellano or Taliajoy18 as she was most popularly know as was a 13 year old girl from Orlando Florida . She was a self proclaimed beauty guru on YouTube and made makeup videos for her 1.4 million subscribers. 

Talia however was diagnosed with caner at age 7 and so YouTube gave her not only an escape from her illness but also a platform to spread her message of love and self acceptance. With her motto being "Makeup is my wig" Talia went on to share the message with the world though appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Showand also as the face for Cover Girl cosmetics.  

Her message and campaign to find a cure for neuroblastomawas undertaken by this vibrant  young girl are now carried out by her mother and sister as well as many large companies such as YouTube joining forces to dedicate videos to  Talia, "For Talia Joy, who still inspires us". Talia was and still is an example of a single person camplining for change and awareness though social media.

One more post for today, but this one is for a person who was very special. Talia Castellano was born on August 18, 1999. During her childhood, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, which is a rare childhood cancer. Then, she had passion for makeup that lead her to have her own YouTube channel known as TaliaJoy18. One of her well-known phrases were "Just Keep Swimming" and "Makeup is My Wig" had inspired younger generations who are also diagnosed with various childhood cancers. Unfortunately, on July 16, 2013, she lost her battle for cancer and earned her wings before her 14th birthday. In the past, she once said that if she had one wish, it would be a cure to cancer. As Childhood Cancer Awareness month comes to an end, I feel so sad and heartbroken that I couldn’t do more or couldn’t fundraise for an organization that strives to help children the way they deserve. I’ll leave with one last chilling photo of the reality of too many childhood cancer stories. The final goodbye of a child’s physical form before being “processed” in a hospitals morgue. The photo is from @taliajoy18’s mother after she said her final hugs, kisses and goodbyes. No child or parent should ever have to experience this. I hope the posts I made during the month has shed some light on this very real problem and I hope you will think twice about donating to legitimate organizations that do everything they can to end childhood cancers. Thank you to @teamabri and @_she_flies_with_her_own_wings for allowing me to use and post their photos and stories to help bring life to a cause that is so close to my heart. July 16th, 11:22am est, 8:22am pst.

It’s been 10 years since I saw the Facebook post that brought me to tears.

10 years since this precious child breathed her last.

Let’s end cancer. It’s ended too many young lives.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share with all of you that Talia has earned her wings at 11:22am. Please lift her beautiful soul, her beautiful light to heaven and please send your love and prayers to her family during this most difficult time. God speed little one, may you be free from pain and suffering, may your soul feel the light and love that you brought to so many of us on this Earth during the short time you were her with us. I  know I should have posted this yesterday (the 18th), but I still wanted to make a post yesterday should have been Talia's 18th birthday. Talia I love you so so so much. All the time I wonder what you would have been like today, and what you would have accomplished. What celebrities make up would you be doing? I am so sorry all of that was taken from you!

Four years ago today Talia Joy Castellano passed away. I always love Her so much, and I adore Her videos, Her style, Her beautiful Smile. Talia Joy Castellano tried to put a face on childhood cancer and encourage people to focus more research on it.

She loved makeup and fashion.

She was hilarious.

She was only 13. Too young.

The world is darker without her.
