Taddeo Zuccari (Italian, 1529–1566) Pietà with torchbearers, c.1560-66

Born in Urbino, the painter is considered the main representative of Italian Mannerism. L’opera rappresenta dunque una coppia di sposi novelli abbracciati, che mostrano tutta la loro dolcezza e il loro amore per dimostrare che chi si ama nel quotidiano, lo farà anche dopo la morte.
