Using my AU to vent some election frustrations and anxiety. 1912 saw the end of the progressive era after all with the woodrow wilson presidency, the first southern since the civil war to become president, and he was very much a lost cause supporter.

I do want to clarify that Woodrow was a much more progressive president for his time than our current elect(which is fucking sad all things considered), by a longshot, I don’t want to diss him unduly because he did help out a lot of people in unions and protect workers from trusts and was generally not antagonistic to immigrants, vetoing several anti immigrant bills. He did a lot of things early in his presidency that were upsetting to marginalized people however, such as supporting anti immigrant sentiments towards south asians, being pro segregation, endorsing birth of a nation, believing women voting was a states rights issue, and being buddies with a lot of white supremicists. His election would’ve been scary for a lot of people at first, so I’m sort of venting my current worries through them aswell as disappointment at this nation not being so progressive as i thought. Hope this helps bring others catharsis. Take heart in knowing that other people felt similar fears over 100 years ago, and that we can fight back and take care of ourselves.

I don't know how comfortable my audience is in broaching the subject of the klan further. It is....heavy and some may not find it comfortable for me to tackle it in the au, especially since I'm white. Granted I'm part of some of the ethnicities they persecuted at the time, but I'm still white and didn't experience that myself, and outside my faith I don't think the klan could give a flying fuck about me today if I ran into one. So imma leave it to my audience to decide that, and if so will probs leave it out of main x men tags.

How's Evan in your au?

Doing ok for the most part. Could be better but he's not feeling god aweful. New York was still fairly racist in 1912 but a far cry from the Jim Crow South.

According to the Tuskegee institute, there's only one reported lynching of a black person from the 1880s-1960s. (That's not to say that racial violence of other sorts didn't happen or that unreported lynchings didn't happen, just shows how compared to the South, where people literally had little festivals around lynchings at times and sent postcards about it, hate crimes were generally looked down upon and well...considered crimes) and he has the added benefit of being from a wealthy family that didn't come from an enslaved background. Because Ororo is a recent expat from egypt canonically, so is his family. They run an import/export transport business to the United States which is why they are living there at all. Granted that makes the racism he sees very very obvious to him compared to how he used to live, but the status helps avoid some of the worst of it by avoiding a lot of the financial barriers that prevented black people from escaping poverty and segregation. Segregation in New York, while there, was more financial barrier focused. A lot of places up north had laws against segregation in schools after the civil war, but segregation was often enforced via redlining and such. Cost of living, job prospects, school funding, etc, ect ect. Jim Crow laws didn't start reaching the north in a big way until after wwI.

So cause he comes from money he's able to attend the same school as his friends. He...is not too fond of the kids there and does not fully trust them. They are harmlessly ignorant at the best of times and he doesn't want to get to know them enough to see them at the worst of times. They have a nasty habit of talking down to him and certainly don't act like he's their equal, despite the fact that he is more well traveled and can speak more languages than any of them. (Evan knows French, Arabic, Swahili ,and English in this AU) So he mostly sticks with the institute kids...who absolutely adore him and will not let anyone give him shit. They will avoid places that do segregate to the best of their abilities (you can only avoid public restrooms so much in an emergency), step up to anyone saying something they don't like to him, and generally have his back no matter what, particularly rogue and gambit, who know exactly how bad treatment of black people can get in America at the time. Rouge has basically adopted him as a second little brother at this point, despite him being only a few months younger than her, and as a result, Kurt has also practically physically attached himself to evan. Gambit and Scott both have a no questions asked ride pass for Evan if he needs to go anywhere, Kitty and Evan have bonded over their own shared struggles, and the teachers especially storm have his back no matter what.

He does have some friends outside the institute he plays baseball and basketball at the YMCA and goes on bike riding trips and has made some friends that way. Life isn't easy but he's finding ways to make the best of it.

Also despite their rivalry, or maybe because of it, as of late he's been seeing Pietro a little bit in private to....have chats with him. Friendly ones. Alone. .... I am a sucker for Rivals to lovers okay.

Just to make sure we're all clear I don't want to try and whitewash history, this was not the average experience for black people, even in New york. They experienced a lot of awful shit. I just really like Evan as a character and know how shitty this time could be for black people so I'm giving him the best opportunities I can given in the period. Because Evan deserves the best and he doesn't get enough love in this fandom as is. If anyone has better historical knowledge and would like to critique me on this, particularly black life in New York state at the time, please feel free to I am open to listening because this is not a subject that I am the most knowledgeable on.

Bit of Headcanon here:

For a long time orcs were a serious nuisance to humanity. They’re a strong and hard headed race which proved difficult to defeat in battle. Of course they were distinctly lacking in intellect and as human weaponry and military strategy improved they were slowly overpowered and enslaved. Male orcs became manual laborers and the females were sought after by nobles for their bodies.

Female orcs make the perfect fucktoys for wealthy and affluent humans. Aside from their green skin and rather husky physique they are startlingly similar to human women. However they have several characteristics that make them more suitable as sex slaves.

Firstly their feeble minds. Female orcs are far less intelligent than humans and this makes them far easier to train. They will not question the wisdom of their owners or speak back once properly broken in and thankfully the only area they seem to excel in is at pleasuring men. Using their bodies to rub and squeeze cocks for their sticky cum.

Secondly, their bodies are very resilient. They can be fucked as hard as possible without passing out or screaming in pain. About An Official Spiderverse Artist...

I aint big, but I got a growing platform that I see as important for me to use as a force for things that matter.

And I got something to say about a certain "artist".

There are so many fucked up people who call themselves artists who both get and or dont get outed in the world for things they do and for their general piss-poor behaviours and persons.

Im here to talk about one in particular (and certainly wont be the last).

There is an artist that basically EVERYONE here has seen art from before, printed in the official Sony artbooks too.

He is a HUGE part of the art direction and stylisation of the spiderverse movies, if that isnt already obvious.

You may have also seen this character before:

Familiar? Yeah. Because this episode was also made by the same guy, Mielgo.

I aint going to talk about what happens in that episode and hesitate to encourage anyone to watch it - cuz all it basically is is a megalo-misogynistic, assault "glorified for the sake of aRtT", racially fetishised showcase of this crazy makeup/haired bdsm stereotyped asian girl sex worker who essentially gets murdered over and over and over after running for her life completely naked through the city for all of us to see for some fucking reason.

And nothing will happen to him cuz he is a white cishet male artist who has money and a following and connections and influence and power.

So yeah.

I just wanted to talk about a certain official Spiderverse artist to just let yall know there are freaks everywhere, and that no matter how small it is, it's people like me and you who need to do what we can to keep up awareness and warn our communities and protect our most vulnerable.

My suggestion is to take heed of what I said, ask questions about everything you will ever see again from anyone around you, no less the industry, and give a fuck.

Also, we still don't know how and why Cinder came into Salem's servitude, so for all we know the same applies to her in a lesser way. I guess the question is what that’s argument was about and who started it,

I think as much as we hate Adam, we need to acknowledge he was still the victim of a hate crime. He wasn’t always a piece of shit and he is still a victim of the systemic oppression of Faunus for the fact the human who branded him almost definitely would not have faced any legal consequences.

I think we can acknowledge that Adam became a shitty selfish person while still understanding that the kingdom of atlas’ downright dystopian nature helped him become what he was. Similar to cinder in that regard. Although unlike cinder he had better opportunities to change that he rejected wholesale.

Definitely. It's absolutely worth noting that Adam is in many respects a product of Atlas and it's systemic oppression. Just as he wound up internalizing all of the bad it did to him.

I think we can actually find the key point where Adam made the shift from 'victim' to 'monster': It's when he got out of Atlas and made it to Menagerie. At that point, he escaped his oppressors. He had a chance to move on and let go of all that pain and trauma. But instead it clearly seems like he decided to hold onto all that pain and went 'I'm going to make everyone who hurt me pay'. That's the point where he becomes the Adam we see in the show.

It's actually the key difference between Adam and Cinder. Both have suffered immensely at the hands of oppressors, but Adam escaped his oppressors and then made the choice to do all the bad things he did. Cinder has never escaped and has never gotten a choice to be anything other than a monster.
