I think during 3rd Life, Ren would ask Martyn to braid his hair. For technical purposes, it's practical for battle and gets the hair out of his face. But really, Ren just wanted an excuse to be close and domestic with him. Martyn always tried his best, but he was used to having short hair and his hands shook too much. Ren would laugh it off and redo it on his own. Martyn never quite figured out how to make a good braid, not even at the end.

When Last Life came around, Martyn wasn't with Ren. And that was fine. Truly, who expected alliances made for war to last in a temporary peace? It made sense, and Martyn was off with the Southernlands. But every now and then, when he'd pass by Ren or spot him in the distance, he couldn't help but feel jealous. He always had a long, perfect braid, probably made by Lizzie, or Cleo, or Bigb. They did something Martyn never quite figured out how to do; be domestic with him. So he practiced on himself. His hair was grown out long enough that he could try to make a small braid by the front of his face if he tried, and while it was never good, it was better than he was before. He'd always take it out before anyone saw it, even when he reunited with Ren. He couldn't let anyone know he was still thinking about 3rd life, that was a weakness he wouldn't let anyone see. And when they died, Ren died with a messy braid he made by himself, and Martyn died hoping that Ren would make it.

Double Life started and he didn't see Ren. Martyn was bound to Cleo which didn't go well. But he was fine on his own, Martyn was a survivor if nothing else. Ren was bound to Bigb, and they functioned well as a pair, Martyn knew that Ren would be taken care of. Even when Bigb broke his heart, and for a moment Martyn was with Ren again, he knew Ren was better off with him than he was with Martyn. He mentioned Ren's perfect braids once. He said he didn't think Bigb knew the first thing about long hair, and Ren laughed and said he didn't, but he was trying and his attempts were better than Martyn's. Martyn laughed along and agreed that he was terrible at braiding, but he couldn't stamp out the fiery jealousy that rose from that statement. Martyn didn't get to prove Ren wrong as they had been taken out early, and he had many days without him to go.

Ren wasn't there for Limited Life. Martyn hadn't been that close with Ren in the last few series, not as close as he'd like anyway, but his absence still stung. He couldn't catch glimpses of Ren when he was wandering, nor could he visit his base and make snide little jokes about it. For the first time, Ren wasn't there at all. That didn't stop him from influencing Martyn. It was a braid, messy and small in Martyn's still short hair. Then he was thinking about Ren too much, clear to anyone when his jokes seemed to reference him more often than not. And then when he turned red, a Dogwarts flag was tied around his waist. This was the first season since 3rd Life that Martyn had thought about Ren this much. And when he won, standing with hours still on his timer and no one left but bodies, Martyn, braid in his hair, couldn't help but think how much he wanted Ren to be here to see it.

4Gs (was it impulse that said it first) saying they're like snowbirds as they try to base closer to the rest of the server,,, more avian headcanons -

bdubs and scar's snails :') they DO look similar but bdubs has the wide grin and scar has the smirk that's so good - (more clockers brainrot but what if they were twins (cleo & etho i think say scar's the older one on stream so i'll roll with that))

impulse and pearl's deaths 😭😭 please a part of me wishes they get back to dark green next session but another part REALLY wants them to go red because,,, y'know,,, they do the stabbing and scott & cleo do the sweet talking,,,

etho and cleo showing each other their snails was a nice moment :') (sorry i'm a cletho girlie love me some divorced besties)

HAHSJSJSHA man he's actually afraid of cleo 😭😭 your honor you were literally teamed with her in secret life calm down i thought it was a bit he does but really didn't mean it but no - (i like to think he got flashbacks to when cleo accidentally stabbed him with a sword in one of their secret life intros but this time they're not allied anymore so etho's genuinely like "oh they CAN stab me")

It was peaceful afternoon on the Hermitcraft server, which is suspicious and usually implies someone is up to some mischief somewhere, but for now it was nice and quiet.

Gem sat at the docks, swinging her legs back and forth, splashing in the water. Her brown boots were placed on the grass behind her and her indigo pants were rolled up to just under her knees. She closed her eyes and listened to the gentle waves of the river, the sounds of leaves rustling and... footsteps?

"Gem Gem Gem!"

An excited and unmistakable voice called out from behind her. Gem barely had the time to process the fact that Pearl was here before being tackled in a tight hug from behind and nearly pushed into the water.

"Oh my gosh! Pearl!" Gem said, a little disoriented and trying to keep her balance as to not fall into the river.

"What was that for?" She looked behind her, seeing Pearl's bright blue eyes staring into hers, almost sparkling.

"Just wanted to say hello to you, Lovely" Pearl said with a bright grin on her face. Before Gem had a chance to roll her eyes and playfully tease Pearl for the jumpscare she just had, Pearl leaned forward and planted a soft and gentle kiss on Gem's lips.

Gem's eyes went wide for a moment before closing as she leaned into the kiss. It was a simple and short kiss of 'I'm happy you're here', simply another way Pearl could say 'I love you'.

Gem enjoyed the feeling of the familiar warm lips on hers, wishing a little bit that her and Pearl could stay like this forever, even though she knew both of them had many things to do.

After a moment or so, Pearl broke the kiss to speak up again. "Well, I need to go! The post office won't run itself!" She said, standing up from her crouched position, waving goodbye to Gem and flying off to take care of whatever ruckus was happening in the mail system.

"Bye Pearl!" Gem waved back as Pearl disappeared into the distance. She could feel her heart beating faster than before and her cheeks flushed ever so slightly.

"Boy, does she know how to be annoying sometimes" Gem said sarcastically and chuckled softly to herself.

Maybe peaceful days do exist on Hermitcraft, Gem thought.

That was until she saw "GoodTimeWithScar fell from a high place while trying to escape Grian" pop up in the chat.

Now that's the Hermitcraft she knew and loved.

I get so gleeful every time people get jumpscared by Martyn Inthelittlewood reblogging/liking/interacting with Renchanting or even Treebark content. Like, a) it's usually really good stuff and I'm sure he's flattered people are doing cool art of his story/characters.

And b) Come on. This is the guy who's whole schtick in 3L was playing mob sounds to get a reaction out of people. He swapped old man versions of skins with Philza and made emotes for his chat to make fun of their constantly getting mistaken for each other. His greatest delight is in provoking a reaction, rivaled only by his delight in The Bit, whatever the bit may be. I am absolutely certain that every time he reblogs One Of Those Posts he's cackling to himself, already waiting for the anthill to erupt because he just poked it with a stick.

...also, he's a dad. Y'all remember when Bdubs discovered internet slang and accosted us all with it for six months? same energy.
