Whenever I first heard him say this I literally fell to the floor screaming and crying. Like, we've always known it, but to hear it acknowledged was so beautiful and fulfilling. TOWL really gave us everything we could ever want and MORE. I love this show so much. I'll be upset if we don't get a season 2, but I'll be forever grateful for everything they did give us ❤️❤️❤️

So I am gloriously Finally watching TOWL and I have a question for you as someone who's seen all of it, also loves Richonne and is media literate lol. I finished EP 3 and so far she hasn't told Rick of RJs existence. I feel like she got close in EP 2 but chose not to until "we get away" because she knows he would see red and go absolutely feral a la season 5 TWD finale blood steaming down his face and her having to knock him out for everyone's sake in a way that only she could. What's your opinion on why she waits? And can you tell me the episode when she does tell him?? (Is it 4.. it feels like it would be 4.)

aw I'm so pleased!! hope you're having a most thrilling time watching the only valid (mostly) heterosexual romance on television!!! as to your question, I think michonne wanted to tell rick about rj straight away tbh but then she realised how he lost his hand and how scared he was of the CRM and concluded the CRM was not a safe place to have that conversation.

Telling rick about rj won't just be hard for rick (no good way for a guy already with son-related trauma to learn he has a son he doesn't know about and couldn't help raise because of being abducted). But also that's not a fun conversation for michonne either because it involves her having to re-live having and raising rj believing rick was dead knowing it will hurt him to hear that as much as it hurts her to say it.

Michonne holds off, at least in my opinion, because she needs them both to be safe enough that they can be vulnerable enough to have that conversation. That's why when she does reveal it to him (yes in ep 4) it's when they're away from the CRM and relatively safe to hash it out. I don't wanna spoil anything in case you aren't up to it. But I personally love how she told him. It was raw as fuck and truly the only way it could've happened because of how painful the whole situation is for both of them. Andrew and Danai's performances were insane I was gnawing my own face off.

With episode 4, you're in for a treat if you haven't already seen it!!! Truly the best written episode of any Walking Dead show, and one of the best episodes of TV of the decade dare I say!!!

Daryl and Rick rambling ❤️

DD starts with Daryl saying he went "I went out looking for something, all I found was trouble, if I don't make it back, I want them to know I tried, Hell Im still trying." So in this moment Daryl is basically leaving a message for anyone to hear, he doesn't think he will ever make it home or that he might not live. It's how he is feeling washing ashore in a foreign country, far from home, lost. He's basically feeling hopeless telling his story until he says "Hell, I'm still trying". In that moment he's like fuck it I'm not giving up yet I am still going to try. When we first see Rick in TOWL he's completely hopeless, getting ready to commit suicide with glass or whatever that is in his hand. He says "I tried, please know I tried." Then he changes his mind. Rick goes on to find Michonne. We didn't know yet if he will go home but he has accomplished part of what he was trying to do, live and survive to find his family, to be reunited with the ones he loves. We have seen a reunion in TOWL in the first episode. However with DD a whole season in and we haven't seen Daryl get home or have any reunion with his family, anything that shows his "trying" has accomplished anything yet so to speak. Carol will be in season 2 of DD. I'm curious to see if she will have an "I tried speech." Yes Daryl seeing Carol will be a reunion but will it be an epic reunion years in the making like Rick and Michonne no not in my opinion. Rick's "trying" led him to finding his love/ happiness. Now we know just because Michonne and Rick are together this first episode doesn't mean they are out of the woods obviously they still have the whole CRM to deal with etc. We know *spoilers from what I have read, haven't seen episode 2, though personally* he tells Michonne to leave. Daryl still has to find his happiness. I don't think it will be Carol or Isabel. We all know who it should be. The parallels just from the first episodes makes me have more hope that maybe we will get the the reunion we want.

Let The Games Begin-How to throw a fantasy football draft party

Beer- No fancy signature drinks for this party.  A selection of beer is the perfect beverage for your draft party.

Picking your draft order- Come up with something more fun than drawing numbers out of a hat.  What did we do?  Nintendo 64 Beer Mario Kart Tournament.  A game of Vs. where by the end of the track you must finish your can of beer but you are not allowed to drink while driving.  So slam it before starting, while you have fallen off the track, or pull over and do a shotgun.  

Food- Burger bar.  A burger bar is the perfect food to have when trying to please a large party with different dietary restrictions.  We grilled portobello mushroom caps for the vegetarians, beef burgers for the meat eaters, and had a variety of toppings to please all tastes.  

Toppings

Sliced Tomatoes Sliced Red Onions Mayonnaise Ketchup Mustard Bread and Butter Pickles Bacon Caramelized onions Guacamole

Bread and Butter Pickles

2 cucumbers, sliced 1 Tbsp salt 1 walla walla onion, thinly sliced 1 cup white viegar ½ cup apple cider vinegar ¾ cup sugar ¼ cup brown sugar 2 tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp celery seeds 1/8 tsp turmeric

Put sliced cucumbers in a bowl and cover with salt.  Cover and put in refrigerator for 1 hour.  Remove and rinse with water until all salt is off. Combine with onion and put in mason jar.  

In a saucepan, combine vinegars, sugars, mustard seeds, celery seeds, and turmeric.  Bring to a simmer, stirring until all sugar is dissolved.  Pour into mason jar and let stand at room temperature uncovered for 1 hour.  Cover and put in refrigerator.  Pickles will be ready to eat in 1 day and will stay good for about 3 weeks.

Bacon

I like to cook my bacon in the oven. You don’t have grease splattering everywhere and the bacon stays flat.  I cut my bacon slices in half, so they fit better in the burgers.

Lay the bacon on a sheet pan and put in a preheated 400 degree oven.  Roast for 15-20 minutes.  Place on a plate lined with paper towls to remove excess grease.

Caramelized Onions

4 large onions, sliced 3 Tbsp butter 1 Tbsp olive oil Salt to taste

In a large skillet on medium/low heat, heat the butter and oil.  Add the onions and stir every 1-2 minutes.  Continue to slowly cook the onions over low heat for about 25 minutes, stirring regularly. The key is to cook low and slow, it will make the onions sweet. Season with salt.

Guacamole

¼ cup diced red onion 1 jalapeño, diced 1 clove of garlic, diced 1 roma tomato, diced 4 avocados, cut into small chunks 1 Tbsp lime juice 1 Tbsp chopped cilantro ½ tsp cumin ½ tsp salt

Combine onion, jalapeño, garlic, and tomato in a large bowl.  Add avocado and smash (I used a potato masher), keeping the guacamole chunky.  Stir in lime juice, cilantro, cumin and salt.

Note:  Since I was serving sliced tomatoes as part of the burger bar, I used the ends of the tomatoes for the guac, since no one wants an end on their burger.  

Grilled Portobellos

Lightly brush the shrooms w/ canola oil and season with salt and pepper.  Grill about 4 minutes a side on medium/high heat.  When there is one minute remaining top with cheese if desired.  We made some without cheese, some with cheddar, and others with pepper jack.  Serve on toasted pretzel buns.

Grilled Beef Burgers

Lightly brush the burger w/ canola oil and season with salt and pepper.  Grill about 3 minutes a side on medium/high heat. When there is one minute remaining top with cheese if desired.  Serve on toasted pretzel buns.

Let your guests build their own burgers!  I opted for a mushroom burger topped with pepper jack, guac, and bacon.  Karam had a beef burger topped with cheddar, caramelized onion, pickles, tomato, mayo and ketchup.  The combinations are endless!  

Sides- We stuck with the classics and served potato salad and pasta salad, both using vegetables that are in season. 

Potato Salad with Leeks and Dill

3 pounds small white potatoes ½ cup mayonnaise ¾ cup sour cream 2 leeks, sliced 2 tsp olive oil ½ cup fresh dill, chopped Salt and pepper

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, fresh dill, salt and pepper.  

Cut potatoes into ¾ inch chunks.  In a large pot, cover potatoes with water and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes.  Drain and allow to cool.

Slice leeks and place in a large bowl.  Cover with cool water and allow to sit for 15-20 minutes.  This is to get all the dirt and grit out of the leeks, (dirt tends to stick in the many layers of the leeks).  Drain and rinse.  In a sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.  Add leeks and sauté for about 5 minutes.  Allow to cool.   

In a large bowl, combine potatoes, leeks, and dressing.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Roasted Vegetable Pasta Salad w/ Mint and Basil Pesto

Pesto 

¼ cup walnuts 2 cloves of garlic 2 cups fresh basil leaves 2 cups fresh mint leaves ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan 1/2 cup olive oil

Place walnuts on a baking sheet and put in a 350 degree preheated oven. Roast for 5-8 minutes, tossing halfway through.  They are done when they start to smell toasted but they burn fast, so keep a close eye on them. 

Place walnuts, garlic, basil and mint in a food processor.  Process for 30 seconds.  Add lemon juice and cheese, pulse to combine.  Slowly stream in olive oil as you process until pureed. 

Roasted Veggies

Use whatever veggies are in season.  Today I used carrots, a banana pepper, green beans, 1 red bell pepper.  

5 small carrots, peeled and sliced in ¼-inch slices 1 banana pepper, sliced 2 cups green beans, ends removed and cut in half 1 bell pepper, sliced 1 tsp olive oil salt and pepper to taste

Toss carrots in ½ tsp olive oil and season w/ salt and pepper.  Place in a 400 degree preheated oven.  Toss remaining veggies in remaining olive oil and season w/ salt and pepper.  Add to oven after carrots have been roasting for about 10 minutes.  Continue to roast all veggies for an additional 8-10 minutes, tossing halfway through.   Remove and allow to cool.

Note:  I put the carrots in first, only because they take the longest to cook.  

Pasta Salad

16 ounces of four cheese Tortellini

Boil Tortellini according to directions.  Drain and toss with pesto to coat. Combine with roasted veggies.   

Snacks- Where there’s beer, there should also be a salty snack for guests to munch on.  

Pretzels with Honey/Mustard/Horseradish Dip

½ cup plain greek yogurt ¼ cup whole grain mustard ¼ cup honey 2 Tbsp prepared horseradish

Stir to combine and refrigerate. I served with pretzels but this is also a great dip for veggies or shrimp cocktail.

Desserts- A variety of cookies and bars.  I HATE baking, so I kept it simple and made a variety of desserts to suit all tastes.  Rice Krispies, brownies, peanut butter cookies, molasses cookies, coconut pecan bars.  

Draft- Hire an IT expert to put together a spreadsheet for everyone to pick their players.  My IT guy, Karam Nasir, used color coding for the different positions. This resulted in many “oooos” and “ahhhhhs” when different colors popped up as running backs, defenses, and kickers were chosen.

I'm a Richonne fan first and a Walking Dead fan second

I mean look at them, how can you not just fall completely in love with their love 💕

This is one of my favourite Richonne kisses. I've never really been able to pick an outright favourite because I love every single one of them for many reasons but this one is definitely in my top 5.

They way he pulls her in, backs her up against the truck and puts his hand out to stop her hitting her head on said truck. The passion, the longing, the want and the need from both of them as well as the moaning just all come together to make this one of their best kisses for me.

These two have a way of making their scenes look so natural which is why they have, in my opinion, the best onscreen kisses. I see other onscreen couples and often find myself feeling there's something missing but I never have that with Richonne. From their very first kiss, which is also in my top 5 by the way, to every other kiss after that I love every single one of them.

And who knows, maybe we'll get a few more in the future, maybe I'll have another kiss to add to the list but whether we do or not we really have been spoilt by not only Richonne but Andy and Danai too.

Richonne are what they are because of them.

This may be a bit of an unpopular opinion but I'm going to say it anyway, I don't really care either way whether we get a big reunion with everyone or not. Sure, it would be nice to see them all together again but it's not high on my list of priorities and to be honest I don't think it's that high on the list for Rick and Michonne either at this point. I get that it's something many people want to see and I do think it will happen eventually, just not yet. What I don't like seeing is this idea that a reunion between Rick and Daryl is somehow more important than the reunion between Rick, Michonne and their kids. This is simply not true, Rick will always and forever put his wife and children above everyone else, including Daryl.

Now, as for the future of Richonne on-screen, I personally think there is a good chance we will see them again. The way Andy, Danai and Scott are very careful when answering questions regarding this tells me that there is hope. I personally believe that Andy and Danai especially would say if they were done, they wouldn't give such vague answers when I think they know how much the fans read into every word they say. From Andy saying he saw TOWL ep 6 as having a dot dot dot after it, to Danai mentioning in a video that she would like to work on getting to know more people on the crew of TOWL on the next one and then Scott saying he doesn't want this to be the last we see of Rick and Michonne and although all he has are dreams at the moment, he has ideas for at least two more stories and they do have a good track record of dreams coming true. Maybe it's just me being hopeful but these things do make me think something may be coming.

With the show being so incredibly successful, I think AMC would jump at the chance to greenlight another season of TOWL or even another spin off if/when the fabulous trio wish to come back But, they need to give Andy and Danai complete creative control again, I think that is something they feel is very important and it was proven to work perfectly in S1. If they have control then I know we will be in safe hands.

Obviously I have no idea what will happen and I could be wrong on all of this, it could just be me hoping beyond hope that Richonne will be back on my screen again at some point in the future or it could really be that they are planning something and to be honest I think the three of them already know if they're coming back or not by now and we will just have to wait.

Whatever happens, we have been truly spoilt with Richonne and I couldn't be more grateful to Andy and Danai for bringing us these amazing characters and this truly beautiful relationship. I began watching TWD for Rick and Michonne and though I came to love other characters, Richonne are always number one for me. And if I can see them again, see them on my screen being the ultimate power couple, happily married and raising their kids then it will just add to the overflowing feast we've already been gifted.

There is no other couple like Rick and Michonne, they really are the gold standard and a level of perfection that for me, has yet to be and likely never will be, emulated.

I'm going to be honest, the only thing that will get me back to The Walking Dead is The Grimes.

Without them it all just feels a bit empty.

Thankfully I still have a multitude of scenes to watch from the flagship and a whole spin off dedicated to this beautiful couple and family until Andy, Danai and Scott decide if/when it's time to come back.

It's a very big missing them day today, I didn't realise quite how much they impact my enjoyment of this show until they aren't there. They are the reason I watch, in fact they are the only reason I watch.
