Alastor really be the asexual ideal of a fandom bicycle. So many ships. He has such effortless rizz.

Unrelated, but I love the image of Alastor and Rosie getting the chance to wow everyone with a proper dance number. Just, deciding to cut a rug at a party at the hotel. Alastor genuinely laughing and having the time of his afterlife.

Most of the cast are impressed.

Lucifer is entertained and trying not to foster feelings.

Vox is apoplectic from jealousy.

Rosie fully planned for all of this, but the dance was fun too.

Hahaha he really is XD It's that charisma. It's too alluring.

I'm such an Alastor multishipper, I see almost any relationship he's in and derive some enjoyment from it. (Current crackship that I'm a little obsessed over is AlastorXAdam, akak AngelicRadio - mostly driven by this lovely artists work Mawdam on Twitter. I eat up everything they draw.)

GAAAH I love anything involving Alastor and Rosie. Bad Besties for life, indeed. And them cutting a rug together, genuinely having a good time, the both of them feeling so easy and comfortable in each other's presence😭 I love i!

And it's made even better by Lucifer, who's never seen this side of Alastor - this fun, happy side that humanizes him so much--that he can't help but catch feelings.

Anything involving Alastor and Vox is an immediate yes from me. God, Vox wishes that were him. I bet he fantasizes about dancing with Alastor in a such a fun, care free way. (Depending on his backstory, maybe he HAS and he misses it extremely).

There was actually a fanfic I read that kind of had this premise. It's a StaticRadio fic with a scene where they're at a club or event (something like that), and Alastor and Rosie are at the piano, drunk, singing, and having the best time. Vox is watching (because he's always watching Alastor), and just about malfunctions when Alastor takes off his tie and unclips a few buttons on his shirt, revealing a - GASP - collarbone.

This scene genuinely lives rent free in my head, I think about it all the time and I love it. I love Alastor having fun and cutting loose, and people being absolutely SHOOK by it. Him taking off his tie and unclipping the top button of his shirt is the equivalent of him stripping down to his underwear and dancing on the tables.

It's unheard of. And I love characters seeing this more relaxed, human side of him, and not knowing how to handle it. I'm obsessed with it.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!

I've been tagged by @stars-of-kyber and @andthebubbles. 😁 So although I feel barely qualified, I guess I best do this...

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I started about 2 months ago, so... and yes, they're all Kanthony. Initially just started as a way of contributing to Anthony Week 2023, and I didn't even expect that I'd actually do all 7 days.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

13,370.

Currently ranging at 661 to 3,779 per fic. Rookie numbers!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

So far, just my beloved Bridgerton.

But there have been a couple other shows that have tempted me...

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Astride  - 166

Having published a handful with various ratings, it's quite interesting to see the kudos, bookmarks (private vs public), and subs ratios! Much to think about.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes.

Why... I sort of have a need? Idk, when I see a comment it's hard to just leave it hanging there and not to reply. Like irl if someone looked at something I made and verbally commented on it... and I just stared back blankly not saying anything. 😐 This is how it feels to me on the receiving end at least haha. And my replies saying various forms of 'Thank you!' is probably quite repetitive, but hey ho.

Plus comments give you that lil hit of dopamine; from both povs as a writer or reader. Being on the reader side for most of my Ao3 activities I tend to comment on most of fics I read, I can't help it - I must tell you what I loved about it and why, and there's a pleasure in reciprocating that back too. Look, now I've written half an essay on the subject, gaaah. (I've not been on Ao3 as much as I'd like to recently, and because I opened it to scoop out the stats for some of the questions above I can now see that I have some unreads... and the need is happening.)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm *thinking really hard*, I don't think any of them have an ending that is all that angsty. If I had to choose, maybe Temptation?

The pattern I've shown so far in my posted works is that it's gonna be 90% fluff. Though that is liable to change. 😆

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Nursery?

I'm not sure, cause they've all ended on a pretty optimistic note so far. But that one has Kate and Anthony with a few of their kids, so it's the furthest on the Kanthony HEA timeline.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not yet...

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Ummm 👀 I may have dabbled in some smut.

What kind... hm, the kind where both people are panting for each other, and end up caving because they literally can't hold their horniness in anymore (this totally explains why I went feral for Bridgerton S2, ha). Another pattern I seem to have is making Anthony a submissive man puddle.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not yet, but I do have some crack ideas I may explore.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of, I very much doubt it.

How often does this happen to people?

No. I'd certainly be all for it if anyone ever wanted to translate any works of mine. 😊

If I was proficient enough to write in other languages, then I would probably try publishing the different versions from the get go.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Kinda?

Nothing formal, but there was a lengthy comment thread on Reddit some months ago where myself and another user went back and forth re-writing the script for that stormy library scene ��� (not so much re-writing what was already there, bar the last few lines, more of a continuation in a universe where Kate hadn't fled).

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

Must I even answer this? Kanthony, c'mon now.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

There's only 1 work that I have, where I've actually started a chapter 2. And I have all the faith that I will finish it. ✍️🤓

Other potential WIPs, that are currently just posted as one shots, only exist in my head... who knows if they will see the light of day.

16. What are your writing strengths?

This question feels illegal to be asked.

I have no idea, I'm very new to this whole writing thing. At least in terms of fiction, so I'm not sure what I'd consider my strengths to be. I feel like I need some more practice before I can get a real sense of this?

I would say that dialogue usually comes very quickly to me, and it's having to fill in the bits around it that takes more brain muscles. So that might indicate something.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Everything apart from the answer to the question above.

But really I think it's remembering that there is a world outside of the main couple happening, and trying to describe the details there. Also other general 'setting the scene' stuff like clothing, weather etc etc. I usually just want to jump straight in with some random dialogue.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

On writing it... no thoughts; not done it yet!

If I needed to for some unknown fic reason in the future, I'm sure I'll be apologising profusely in the author notes for trusting Google translate and probably butchering whatever language it is.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Still just the one so far, Bridgerton. 😌

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Hunt 🥺🥹 I was a lot of feels, and just very indulgent tbh.

I also really enjoyed my shortest one, Obedient, which was in 2nd person (hadn't done that before). The writing of that one was just really fun and I idky but I've reread it quite a bit!

ik u said to ignore it but i cant ignore it because im a natural snoop and i fucking love reading tags. its where people show their colors and i think everyone has a rainbow inside them. which prompts me to say that u dont have to answer this. hell, u can ignore this.

anyway, maybe its coz im using tumblr wrong. i literally only come here to grab some *feels* (good and bad) at the popular reblogs and then occasionally join in the simblr "oooh" and "gaaah!!" eras that i feel like im missing out on what u call the Back in the Day tumblr era. tumblr was advertised to me as a blogging site so like lmfao.

maybe its also because of the power of the anon feature that i can actually make myself be able to enter ur ask box without feeling too shy or scared that im here to comment on ur post. is it because we're far too scared to interact beyond the comments or is it because drama (not sure if theres a better word for it, controversy maybe?) has scarred us and being able to comment on things without the anon feature kind of scares us all now?

regarding simblr drama posts that blow up, u could probably also contribute it to bandwagon, right? like obv, its not the only reason it blows up but bandwagon helps. its far too easy to join in the opinion that everyone agrees on and parrot it around. like idk if im making sense but isnt it kinda easier to "not have an opinion" but rb that other person's opinion/fact that the rest of the community has deemed correct or right as if its your own (ok maybe this sentence sounds bad and i could probably phrase it as "i have an opinion about it but this other person has worded it so perfectly that i will rb this instead". anyway i'll leave it in coz the previous one could be true to some people). not that its bad, im honestly glad most of us agree on smth, it just sometimes loses that sense of discussion u probably meant if we're all just parroting everything.

i mean, i've seen it happen. especially during certain major events here where my dash was full of the same post being reblogged by myself and a couple others with no additional ideas (even tags sometimes, like i said i love tags i think tags hold a lot of unspoken but spoken ideas if u get it).

i had a point here somewhere. anyway what i meant to say was, i think i have similar feelings with u regarding discussions (lmfao look at this long post). but im far too scared to get out of anon to actually have it with u or anyone else in simblr.

Hahah no thank you for snooping on my tags 😅 what I meant to say is, I notice that most engagement happens through likes instead of comments, which is just really frustrating because yeah, I am used to tumblr being more of a forum so likes feel very empty to me. Unless it’s “”drama”” then yeah like you said, people are more inclined to comment. Like my first post that blew up was literally just “not someone charging $3 for sims nipples” or st like that which was really funny but also a little sad bc I would’ve loved to engage like that on posts I actually cared about and that weren’t just me being cheeky lol. That said, I understand what you mean about feeling too shy. I asked about this earlier - why ask questions on anon if they’re not mean - and for most people yeah, it boiled down to being shy or not wanting to seem over eager. But I LOVE when people are eager about my nonsense, I LOVE when people ramble like this in tags or comments or my inbox about my story/sims. That is the sole thing that’s kept me active here tbh - the couple people who comment and send me asks instead of just throwing a like here and there. I’ve been told many times that engagement on simblr is a lot lower than it used to be which is a little discouraging. I’ll look at my friends with large blogs and even though their stories get 100s of likes there’s still only 2-5 comments! I’d be pulling my hair out!! Maybe it’s a pet peeve that’s kinda specific to me lol but it does bother me sometimes especially when I put a q like hey tell me what you thought about x or whatever the case may be. Like even going so far as to be like “instead of a like tell me about x :) “ and that still not working. I guess that’s just not the way people engage on tumblr anymore :/ 🤷🏾‍♀️

Safety In Your Embrace: Ah, okay, this one is because I can't decide what should happen to certain *nasty* characters, but I have most of the rest of the story in my head so once I decide what to do with said characters, I should get it written fairly quickly.

Fight Those Daemons: Honestly, because I'm sick of rewatching playthroughs of chapter thirteen of the game for it XD

Papa Pelna and His Little Hero: I am so close to being ready to update this! Gaaah!! It's just an end of the chapter I need to do and some polishing.

Fatum Altaris: Now this depends on both me and @thedarkestdandelion being in the right mood and having enough time to write it. Since we both work full-time (and have lots of workplace drama) it's quite rare that we get time to sit down and work on it.

These Twists and Turns of Fate: Now this one is probably honestly not gonna be updated for a while. I started writing it just before DotF got released, and then that got released and I heard the plot and I just started feeling like the plot I'd originally intended was too similar, and now I have plans to revamp it and use it in another story! Um, but I need to take it down and do some serious editing on it so that will be a while XD

With All My Heart: I need to do more research on stuff and also small Tony is gonna be in the next chapter and I'm finding him rather difficult to write.

Hawkeye: Honestly, I need to come up with a plot XD I just wanted to write that interrogation scene at the beginning, and then delve into my take on Clint's background.

You are My Best Hurt: I need to do more research on looking after babies. This got put back a lot because my primary point of information for this topic (my mother) nearly had a heart attack when I started asking questions about how to look after a small infant if they'd just been found XD XD

To the Anon who asked for this and to everyone who might also be wondering about my IronWidow / TonyNat fanfic recommendation... Gaaah. Listing down a few is a veeery difficult task. I have read A LOT of IronWidow fics - canon semi compliant, canon non compliant, and pure AU. So what I did here was type my TOP OF MIND, without checking my bookmarks (if I could name them without looking at AO3, that means, they made some serious impact, right?). Honest thoughts on Maiko? I flip flop a lot. I like it and then i dont and idk. I love their fanart but something doesnt settle right and reading lim. made me realize the type of person zuko needs in a relationship to be happy. He fell for yue for and their relationship feels more canon than maiko. Im totally rambling i just love ur perspective because ur presence in the fandom is such a breath of fresh air 💓

But like, deadass - I’m curious to know how the Zuko, ATLA, etc. tags were on Tumblr before I joined. Because I feel like there was some WWW 3 going on over here and I just walked in the crossfire without realizing 😂😂😂😂

I understand the ‘flip flop’ you’ve described! I’ve said this before, but I actually LOVE Mai. I think she’s a fascinating character, and her personality is very telling about how growing up under the royal rule affects a person mentally, emotionally, and physically.

From her arc and Azula’s alone, we learn about the importance of being a dominating figure - that emotions are a sign of weakness in the Fire Nation. It’s all about being that head-strong, all-powerful being.

I feel like many people under-appreciate her because, on the surface, she appears bland, and don't get me wrong - I think they could've developed her more. But she is just a supporting character and was more-so an aid to Zuko’s arc and one of the causes of Azula’s downfall.

Now, just because I love Mai and Zuko as characters doesn't mean I like them together.

ENTER THE HOT TAKE 👀🍵

I think Zuko and Mai getting together in the show and having a relationship was a good thing.

I also think it was for the better they ended things in the comics.

Not all relationships we enter lead to an ever-lasting, fairytale romance. And I believe Zuko and Mai’s relationship was a perfect contrast to Katara and Aang’s.

If there was one thing Zuko and Mai lacked - it was communication - but in all honestly - it makes sense.

The one time Zuko tries to voice his opinion, show that he cares and do something right - it resulted in him getting his face burnt.

Now, we have two teenagers who were both taught that emotions are a bad thing - trying to enter a relationship.

That’s just asking for trouble.

All relationships require communication, some a little more.

Throughout the show, you have Mai and Zuko trying to open up to one another- but it always results in one of them brushing the other off (not all the time, but more often than not). I don’t think they do it intentionally because I believe they love each other - but they don’t know how to ‘relationship.’

They remind me of that high school couple who literally break-up, and get back together every week. They don’t do it because they hate each other, they do care. The problem is they both carry so much emotional baggage, and it’s hard for them to be the person they need to be for each other - and it seems they fell in love with the old selves of each other.

Mai fell in love with Zuko’s harsh, strong-willed attitude, and Zuko fell in love with Mai’s no bull-shit attitude. But as the show develops, they naturally change. They aren’t the people they fell in love with as kids anymore.

Zuko starts to show his emotions; he wants to let down his guard - and Mai’s attitude can be scary. While on the other hand, Zuko’s sudden soft side and need to voice his emotions would 100% take Mai off guard because the poor girl was never allowed to express her feelings, and now you’re trying to do feelings with her? I don’t blame the girl for yeeting - I would too 😂

Both wanted to open-up, but they don’t know how, and I think until they both learn how to love and accept themselves - their relationship was bound to fail from the start.

And that’s okay.

I think they make better friends than lovers, but honestly, Zuko wanted to return to his normal life so bad throughout the show - that Mai was a symbol of normality.

The show ending with them getting together makes sense in many ways because Mai was the symbol of ordinary. Zuko goes home, he becomes Fire Lord and ends up with the girl he fell in love with. And I think the comics (despite popular opinion) explores the idea that not everything ends perfectly after the ‘happily-ever-after.’

To this day, we don’t know who Zuko ends up with (although it is highly suggested by many that it’s Mai). And you know what, a part of me hopes it isn't Mai because I hope she ends up with someone even better.

I love Zuko - I didn’t write a whole fanfiction because I hate the guy! I just think they could find people who better fit their personalities. Zuko is excellent, but he has his flaws, just like Mai.

There can be love between people, it doesn’t mean it is romantic in nature. Just because two people went through similar experiences does not equate to a perfect, understanding, relationship.

I support Maiko - just not the longevity of it - if that makes sense?

I WENT ON ANOTHER RANT DAMNIT. I swear I think I opened a can of worms with this Zutara, Maiko, Kataang stuff 😂😂😂 But, this is just my opinion, and if you love or hate Maiko - doesn’t bother me 😉 Cause I get it. But highkey...can you imagine if Yue was canon? GAAAH the cuteness overload 😭😭

Storytime: Kyle Pavone... man what can I say. His death though it’s been two years now really hit me hard then and still does. I still get sad and tear up about it. I remember when the news dropped and I felt so overwhelmingly sad and broken, I definitely cried a lot. I’m sad I never got a chance to meet him and tell him how meaningful his music was/is. I connected to so many of the words he sang. WCAR’s music has always been a staple for me and Kyle’s clean vocals just always sounded so good, and the messages in all the songs just really resonated with me back then and now. I’m glad the rest of the boys in WCAR are continuing on and keeping his memory alive even though it’s heart breaking that he is gone and at such a young age. He is greatly missed. I remember when I first started going to shows one of my first (I think the second one I ever went to if I remember correctly) concerts was The Fire and Ice Tour that they headlined back in 2012 and I remember just how amazing the live show felt and how Kyle and the rest of the band put on such an amazing performance. I know he is looking down at his brothers and smiling at their strength continuing on and Dave taking over the helm of screams and cleans and he is doing so much justice. For ONS: You’re All I Need to Find - this was super self-indulgent because it’s a Unico AU, and Unico remains my all time favorite movies. I have plans for a part two for this that is outlined, I just need to get back to it gaaah. 

For FFXV: Bend and Not Break - It’s not done yet but this story is near and dear to me very much. It’s emotional and hurts to write sometimes, but I think that’s why I love it so much. It’s nearing the end also which I can’t believe since I’m almost at a year since I was first inspired to write it.

Come Here - This is a FFXV/It Follows AU and I was nervous because [1] it’s the horror/thriller genre which I haven’t written before and [2] it’s got dark themes, so that made me a little nervous folks wouldn’t read it. So many good fics there! My favorite so far was The Honey Trap by Mamalazzer - I actually laughed out loud. The characterization is spot on! Can I ask for some recs of your favorites?

Oh, hell, yeah, this is my jam, you can always always always ask, and THANK YOU for giving me one more reason to get my ass in gear and address my TMFU bookmark ~problem, lol (similar shout out to @justlarried). As ever, it helps me know what to rec if I know a little bit more about the types of fic you want to read (AU? canon? angst? kink? etc.), but I’m gonna go with characterization and the fics I come back to read again and again. Bravo for starting with Phoenix  and Blake, easily my two faves in the fandom (Mine and Apart and And me underneath being my faves of faves, but just know that I made those choices under duress, @horsegirlharry @newleafover).
