That feels nearly impossible, his body feels like lead, heavy and useless, but for Buck he can try. He focuses and squeezes as tightly as he can - it’s not very tight, but that doesn’t seem to matter when Buck lets out a long breath and then a choked sob.

this might end up being really long and rambly and sappy but maybe not who knows.( it was) (and also featuring numerous spelling errors i am way too tired to fix and i am not re reading what i just wrote) SO. yknow how when chap idek..25(?) came out and i was all like “yeah so i made this animation for TNV and ill drop it when the fic ends” in your ask box? so. I FINISHED IT RAHHH. technically it has been finished since i sent that ask but ohhh my goodness did it need polishing. i haven’t animated in 4 years before that and omg it felt so good getting back into it but IDFK SOMETHING IS STILL NOT UP TO MY STANDARDS. i feel like i could have done so much more with it and i deffo wanted to but as soon as i told myself “oh yeah this is basically done” art block literally sucker punched me in the gut out of NOWHERE. I COULD NOT PICK UP MY I PAD. I COULD NOT DRAW. I WOULD STARE AT THE WIP ANIMATION AND BE UPSET BC I DDINT WANNA WORK ON IT AHH. that goes with saying. i kept having this thought in the back of my head “you need to finish it. you have a wip sitting. finish it. go do it. what are you doing are you STARTING ANOTHER PROJECT??? anddd yeah i got super distracted with other stuff and other projects and then i started spending my free time rewatching 2012 turtles and omg this summer has been a mess. i have all the free time in the world and i choose to be the least productive as possible with it even though i have a job that lets me literally sit on my phone and do whatever i want if no one is there. (i’ve brought my switch to work numerous times ☠️) what i was trying to get at is the fact that TNV has inspired a lot of the old me to come back and i lowk missed her. i really missed the point in all those words up there but im here now so whatever. BUT. TNV made me make a tumblr account, i got back in to animation AND digital art in general, got back into longfics that are ongoing, AND it also helped kickstart ideas for writing. i’ve got so many stories now!! you are such an inspirational person pastels i just- every time i read a new chapter of yours it made me wanna go get up and do something. i wanted to create something. because at the end of each chapter, i would think- “woah. a person out there just wrote this. they just sat down one day and committed. i wanna do that” so i did that. just huge thank you and shoutout to you pastel. like damn. idk no words from me here. just a bunch of platonic hugs and kisses and thankyouthankyouthsnkuou for this lovely heart wrenching but also sweet story. i love this fandom (tmnt) so SO much and i think it’s so awesome how interactive you are with your own personal NV fans. crazy how we’re all here because of a bunch of turtles. 

STUFF ABOUT THE ANIMATION:

okay i really like to talk and if you let me, i will run my mouth. this is the internet so im gonna do just that. so more words for you to read 😁. AHEM. so like i stated before in the genuinely scary mess of words up there, i haven’t touched animation in a while, like, 4 years a while. yes i’ve done digital art here and there along the years, i haven’t been doing it nearly as much as i need to to use some programs to their full potential. layers are still confusing, and don’t even get me started on multiply and all that jazz. shading never comes out right on digital for me, i gotta work that one out. so, for this animation, i decided to go with a very rough style. nothing needed to be perfect, i just wanted to live my little life of trying to experiment with a bunch of different things all at once in one short animatic. I wanted to do that little ball bounce thing all animation artists start with (i kinda included that with the key). i also wanted to have a go at lip sync (no hate it was my first time) and also timing the animation with the music. i wanted to see how smoothly i could move a figure in and out of and out of the screen as well, which honestly, i think that part might be my favorite. i think i did a good job, and thats what matters. the animation itself lost a bunch of quality on importing it- no clue how it happened but now the ending is grainy af. ignore that pls lol- but it was sitting in my flipaclip for god, i dont even know, 3 months now? i kept going back and forth on if i wanted to share it or not, so im throwing it to the wolves and i guess whatrver happrns happens and im good with that. yay. im actually rrwlly tired now sooo *leaves this absolute pile of words with a video attached at your feet and stumbles away quickly*

I don't have anything published on AO3 -- I don't know how to use it, and I'm super unfamiliar with it, LOL.

54! I had not counted until now... wow.

I had 3 (Unsettled, Invisible String, and Too Hot to Handle) series this year, all completed as of ... this morning? Haha. I have various upcoming parts, including part 3 for Casual and part 2 for Bad Idea, Right? As far as WIPs... 22. Haha. 22 WIPs.

4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?

I answer this again more in depth below, but probably Invisible String or Too Hot To Handle!

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

While Too Hot To Handle was definately different (elaboration later), I think Once Upon A Dream and Sing To Me were probably the most different from what I typically do!

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

A pleasant surprise was my first fic(s) and mini-series, Unsettled. I wrote it right after opening this page, and I was surprised how well it did and the support from everyone that encouraged me to keep going!

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

I Look In People's Windows was shorter, and I bit different as far as mood as opposed to what I typically write... however, I really liked it and I feel like more people should give it a glance. (;

8. Who is an artist that inspired you?

9. Who is an author that inspired you?

My first inspiration on Tumblr was from @starlightazriel -- but in addition, works from @yourlittlebunnyy, all of @thehighladywrites works, and works from @velarisdusk!

@she-whatshername and @lilah-asteria !! Love everything from them.

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

Some characters come so easy for me to write (I'll expose myself -- Eris, Azriel, Lucien, Liam, and Tamlin... oop) while others are challenging (Cassian, Xaden, Rhysand... oy). Nonetheless, pushing myself is ALWAYS worth it, and I enjoy a challenge! A Springtime Storm is still a crowd favorite, and a personal one too (I didn't think I'd like it so much, honestly).

14. What is your advice?

I write in a way that if I read it, I'll enjoy it. I make sure not to have character biases, and NEVER bully anyone or judge people for their preferences. Healthy discussion? Sure. But bullying isn't okay, and I make sure to put out stories I like and hope others will find amusing too!

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

I've been dabbling in participating in Kinktober... HAHA that sounds like such a huge, scary task but honestly. I feel like I'm ready. Are you? hehehehe

Hello ACOTAR fanfic writer!  This fanbase appreciates your creativity and passion for these characters and ships, and you did such an amazing job with writing this year!  The year is coming to an end, and I wanna ask: 

What is your new year’s resolution for writing? I want to be better about finishing my writing in a timely manner. I'm so grateful to those who stick around for the next parts in my series, unanswered asks, etc. but sometimes I get writer's block and even if I know exactly what i want to write, I don't make as much time for it as I'd like to!

What are some of your tips for fanfic writing? Haha one of my biggest ones is putting yourself in a reader's shoes, and even if it may not be your most enjoyable / easiest character to write, I always remember to appreciate the reader/asker for whatever request they send because it means they like your work, want more of it, and want it done in your writing style! Everyone prefers characters over others -- even if they're not your cup of tea, maybe they are for others.

What was your favorite thing you’ve written this year? Oh my God literally the Invisible String series. I started this page last year (tee hee) in LOVE with Lucien and Lucien only... now, while I still find other characters so freakin difficult to write for (Rhysand? Xaden? Like, why though?) somedays, I am married to Eris in my head; especially after finishing the Invisible String series! It took 4 months to write, and I am absolutely in love with how it turned out. I even go back and re-read it myself, I love it so much.

Another honorable mention is the Too Hot To Handle series! Oh em gee. I started the show last year, and immediately thought of how interesting it would be to incorporate ACOTAR into it. It was a different type of writing, and one where I had to wait a week to even begin the next part as it was a reader-voted storyline! So interesting, but so, SO fun.

Hello my friends! I hope everyone is having/has had a fabulous day :)

There is something I have debated on whether I wanted to make a post about, as I try to keep my blog a place of positive vibes and this not that. But after a lot of back and forth, I think I need to speak on this.

On Friday I received an anonymous ask from someone who was... miffed, I will say, about the length of time between chapters for my Good Omens WIP, Saying The Quiet Part Aloud. Ideally, I would have liked to message this person and have a conversation, but as they are anonymous, I cannot do that (if you are the person who sent me this ask, please reach out, my DMs are open).

I will start by saying that the amount of love and praise I have received for my Good Omens fics has just blown me away, and this is no fault of the GO community. I am so incredibly grateful that so many people love my writing. Before writing for GO, I only ever wrote for niche ships and was involved in smaller communities where everyone knows each other. All that to say, this is the first time I have ever received a message like this.

My feelings were not really hurt by this ask, because I think I've lived enough of life that being accused of writing a sentence a day (which, honestly, is pretty hilarious, I laughed out loud when I read it) doesn't shake me.

But I will say that comments like the one I received are part of the reason why many authors abandon their fics.

People have forgotten that art and fanfic is not something you are entitled to. I write for myself first and foremost, and because I love my stories so much is why I am glad to share them with others. But no one is entitled to my stories. I appreciate that there are people out there who are so excited for my stories that they want to read more as soon as possible, but there are kinder ways to broach the topic. I've received a veritable FLOOD of asks from people who have kindly and respectfully asked on a timeline on the next chapter, and I am more than glad - ecstatic even - to answer them, even if I don't know myself when the next chapter or story will be out.

I have a lot of stuff going on outside of writing, a lot of life to live. And even if I have nothing going on and I could be writing, but choose to spend that time with my husband and family instead, that still doesn't justify an impatient message.

I know it's hard to wait for fics, but sending mean spirited messages is the quickest way to ensure an author stops writing.

And to all those who have been sending me so many messages and leaving comments and kudos and so many other things, thank you, you are the lights of my life <3 This will in no way effect the upcoming chapters of STQPA, and chapter four is still coming soon, along with a special little surprise ;)

Okay! It's time for the second round of my fic recommendations! Once again I'm not including any wips.

"Tiny Troubles" by RavenKnight3035 (Archive of Our Own):

Original summary:

"Something's wrong with Cole, but he refuses to talk to anyone about it. Then, to make matters worse, a mysterious criminal attacks and the results are...interesting to say the least. "Cole! You're TINY!" Prepare for a big helping of fluff with a side of angst. :D"

This fic is about Cole, who becomes a little kid after something that goes wrong on a mission. And he's been acting strange before that too, so the ninja try to figure out what's wrong with him.

This takes place after season 2 (of the original series not Dragons Rising) but has technically become canon-divergent because of something that gets revealed in season 13, but it's a good read! There were hurt/comfort scenes I liked!

"Family" by Doctor_Discord (Archive of Our Own):

Original summary:

"Takes place like a month after Lloyd was magically aged. When Lloyd is kidnapped and used as leverage by Scales and the Serpentine, Garmadon is willing to do anything to get him back. Even kill. I am horrific at summaries but this is good I promise. Also posted on Wattpad under same Username"

So this is a canon-divergent fic with a lot of Lloyd angst! Garmadon teams up with the ninja to get him back from Scales.

There was a sequel that's also available on AO3 but it's been discontinued for five years and as far as I know the author is not into Ninjago anymore, but they said that anyone can write a continuation so there's that! But this fic is fully complete.

"Five Times Lloyd Was a Pain" by DietCokeIsLife (Archive of Our Own):

Original summary:

"And, the one time he wasn't. Takes place pre-Child's Play when Lloyd is still a kid. Very fluffy!"

So like I said in the previous post, I like how Lloyd and Kai's dynamic changes through the seasons, and how they hate each other at first. Well, here's Lloyd's relationships with everyone!

Original summary:

Again, a child Lloyd fic! This one goes in a different direction from what happens in episode four after Pythor betrays Lloyd.

It's a oneshot but omg I wish it had a second part (no pressure to the author if they end up reading this! Just expressing my feelings for this fic :D)

Original summary:

So in my previous post I mentioned a tlnm fic titled "Revealed"-- this is basically the same story but from Kai's part of view! (That technically makes it a different story then, I guess.) I loved this one just as much as the first one!

There are so many but if I had to narrow it down I would say Ally (Beau Simpson) or Isobel (Dean Archer). Both bring out a really fun, softer side to their partners and they handle their shit with such dignity and grace.

I also wanna add Gina (Travis Wheatley) in here for destroying Travis’s trophies when she thought he was cheating on her.

Oh and Georgia (Terry Silver) too. There is always so much magic when I write the two of them.

It’s Roxie that notices Margo’s attraction to Dean first.

Honestly Joe Cruz from Chicago Fire. I have tried writing for him hundreds of times over the years but I just can not find the key that unlocks him.

Terry Silver, in my head he has such a defined voice that it makes him really easy to write. As soon as I see a prompt for him I’m like yep, I know exactly what we’re doing with this one.

42. How do you figure out your characters looks, personality, etc.

For me it’s really about what the fandom character I’m writing for needs from a partner.

So for Wes Mitchell (FBI International) it was a home away from home. So I knew it would be someone from his past, someone familiar he would feel comfortable in a strange country and who wasn’t part of the fly team because he needs that distance. I also knew it would have to be someone who understood the job he does because it would really fuck up a relationship. Hence we have an FBI Instructor at the International Training Academy who he had had a friendship/fling with in the past. The friendship angle allows her to call him out on his shit when he’s misbehaving because she already knows his history/antics.

With Terry Silver I just felt he was a very lonely man who has all this money and travels  but no one to really experience it with. When I wrote Georgia, I wanted someone who could bring a little colour to his world, who was soft and didn’t see the money or prestige. She doesn’t realise he’s a billionaire until later on in their romance and she’s already falling in love. I felt anyone to assertive or aggressive would really raise Terry’s hackles because he’d been burned before with people who wanted him for his status and not for him. I think one of their first dates is Georgia showing Terry, her version of Paris and it’s the act of sharing that experience that makes him fall in love because he sees the world through her eyes and it’s a wonderful place to be after being disillusioned for so long.  

Also I also really wanted to shy away from the whole sugar baby thing and focus on a relationship that was very loving and deep.

50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

Hm I can’t think of any weird ones off the bat (like witches or tentacles). I’d say more weird in terms of oh shit this is taking a turn I didn’t expect.

It’s happened with a few fics I’ve had in the past esp with the three things prompts.

Stuff like Dean Archer telling Isobel he found out Leanne was cheating when he was diagnosed with an STD. – did not see that coming.

Mike McClusky ending up in a devastating situation with Stella – the prompt was cocktail and from the instant I started writing the vibe was not a positive one.

Nick Torre’s partner being sent dirty lingerie by a stalker – the prompt was surprise gift I think and triggered a massive storyline for those two.

Rip Wheeler setting up an anniversary meal for Imogen and hearing gunshots across the pastures.

There are tons more but these are the ones off the top of my head.

I have two Wire WIPs. The sfw fic 'The Stowaway' has the potential of accidentally turning into a long series that I have no idea how to go about. It's centred on you as a runaway spiriting yourself aboard a pirate ship you mistook for a courier vessel - and one member of the crew decides you belong to him as a little protege he gets to use for a creative outlet. You learn to fight, you learn to do chores, you find your place aboard the ship - and love finds you in the arms of the man who chose you to be his stowaway.

Here is a snippet:

“Would you look at that, Kil,” the voice of what you assume belonged to the captain cackled down at you, “I sent you down for rum, you return with a runaway.” The toe of their boot kicked a barrel beside your persons, causing you to flinch away and jolt at their expression. “And a fuckin’ civilian at that.”

The thumping of boots began to circle you, forcing your body to cower into a lower bow while your breath hitched and shuddered. Your heart shot to your throat as you felt the former hand grip your head and hoist your neck back to gaze at the large gathering you'd joined against your will. Your eyelids scrunched tightly shut in response to the harsh handling of your delicate muscles.

“You know how I feel about stowaways on my crew,” the captain growled as he circled your form. “If they serve no purpose, a purpose will be found for them before the next port.” The voice drew closer as they crouched beside you. A curt slap impacted your cheek, prompting tears to immediately flood your eyes at the curt sting. Your throat choked back a sob as you attempted to remain hard to no avail.

“Obviously not a worker, a marine, a pirate, or a slave,” the captain scoffed. “Would've behaved different, don't you agree, Kil?”

“Sounds right to me, boss,” the mane-adorned man in a mask confirmed with honesty. “They look like a high-born civilian, though. Might fetch a pretty bounty.”

Wire is adamant on starting the new year off with fireworks. If you'd have thought the type of fireworks he was wanting to burst into the new year was him edging you until the count down begins, you might've never agreed to it. Literally just raunchy smut with the largest Kid Commander being a selfish and greedy man - his greed being your pleasure.

12. favourite character to write about this year

I had to think about this a little, because usually I say that my favourite character to write about is usually just whoever I am writing about at the moment (which, right now, is Jason Todd) - but I think my favourite character to write about this year has been Isaac Lahey from Teen Wolf. He is a character I discovered for the first time this year and I immediately fell in love with him. He is so much my type - his backstory of being abused immediately resonated with me, and I just love everything about his character in general. His caring and protective nature, his attitude and witty mouth, his softness - like when he sheds tears after realizing that he can take away the pain of an innocent animal. Oof. Fucking OOOOOF

It also doesn't hurt that he's fucking gorgeous. But actually, despite popular belief, I always find myself attracted to characters based on their character traits before their physical traits. Like with Isaac, when he first appeared on screen, I was like "who's this fucking guy?" - I wasn't like "omg pretty blond boy". I found myself going nuts over his looks after I fell in love with his wooby backstory, his fuckboy smirk, and his tsundere actions protecting his soft inner core.

I fucking love him, and writing about him (even in fics I have yet to finish and post) has been one of the highlights of my year.

This is such a difficult question for me to answer. Because if you count every single fic I have started and not yet finished, then it's like - 200. 300. Maybe more.

But for me personally, I don't consider works I have started but not yet finished as 'works IN PROGRESS' because I am not making an effort to actually progress them every single day. They are just - there. And I will make progress on them later when I am ready.

Works I am actually actively progressing: one.

At any given time, the number of fics that I am actually actively working on, is always one - maaaaybe two at most. Because if I try to focus on any more than that, then I never get anything done. I know some people wonder how I post so consistently, and that is one of the big keys to it - I have to focus on working on one fic at a time, even if it feels a bit like homework sometimes. And I only abandon a fic partway through if it starts to completely stall out my brain and I get absolutely nothing done and I know that I can work better on something else (and usually when something else feels more inspiring to me).

So yeah - technically it's just one. But the works I have yet to finish or even just docs that I have opened and written down scraps of ideas for later - that is a fucking lot. Hundreds.

bonus: favourite character from Titans and why?

I thought this would be kind of obvious from my blog, but I will say it.

MY GREEN BABEY BOOOOOOOOOY

I really love all the characters from Titans, and there's not a main character that I hate - tbh, unlike with other shows, there's not even a villain that I hate. I think that they're all really compelling and interesting to watch as villains, and with some of them (like Adamson and The Family) - I wish that they would have gotten to stick around longer and be evil for more episodes because I find them so interesting to watch.

But Gar is my favourite. He's actually the reason I started watching the show in the first place - because @nctzenkane sent me pictures of Ryan Potter and was like "there's this hot guy playing Beast Boy in a new Teen Titans adaptation and his whole bare ass was out" and I was like "... I've got time for naked man ass" (and while watching Titans, I got A LOT MORE OF IT THAN I EXPECTED. it was nice)

I came for naked man ass and I stayed for the amazing character analysis, intense emotional moments, delightful humor, and in depth themes about loss of identity and transformation at a time in my life when I really needed it most. And now Titans is my life blood and I have never felt more at home than I do when I watch the show

And Gar is a huge part of that for me. He's light hearted but he is using that to hide his pain - he always tries so hard to lift others up with optimism and brightness and laughter but so often others fail to do the same for him, he is the emotional stronghold of the team and never thanked for it, and I relate to him so fucking hardcore. And I just fell in love with him in so many ways

Though, like I said, I fucking love all the characters for so many reasons

Just as I love the reviews you gave to the first few PH chapters. They were really in depth and I'm still amazed how you pointed out a really important part to Helena's character arc.

You're not really active anymore so I wonder when you'll see this. We literally missed each other when it comes to fandom engagement times, but I'm so happy I got to know you despite that. Your art inspires me so much and I mean literally few days ago you helped me go through an art crisis. This means so much to me.

I admit that I grouped the four of you, to write below thanks to the group. I send you overwhelming amounts of WIPs, drawing, writing and you always support me with each and every one of them. We joke we laugh, we come up with incorrect quotes and that's how some of my one shots came to be. You inspire me.

But also you help me when I feel down. When I have an art block, writing block I can talk to you about them and ask for advice. Or sob that PH will come to an end and you understand. 💕

We started interacting through an ask you sent me regarding a PH illustration. It was just the sweetest thing ever and when we later talked I adored how we both focus on the siblings bond. You on the best space brothers and I on the birds. You were the first person to be genuinely curious about Gabriel, who's a very dear OC of mine. Honestly through some of the conversations with you a bit of his character developed. You also asked about the other Drazel siblings, such as Mateo 🥺

one of my BIGGEST struggle so far is to not make Abby unlikeable...

but because this is a Wymack-centric, Wymack pov fic, she's gotta be there, and i gotta respect Wymack's choice, so i gotta do her justice somehow

now here is my dilemma: who tf do i cast her as?

obviously it should be Tess. obviously. i can work my way around making them NOT in a relationship, that's fine, Joel/Tess is complicated and murky too; what i cannot seem to reconcile is how Abby is so meek compared to Tess...

pros: Abby still being a nurse in this verse would give her the curiosity to prob at Neil's case of immunity

cons: it's Neil she's dealing with. never gonna get anything out of him, no chance in hell. so if she does not have the info on a potential cure, if she does not get hopeful, what is her motivation here? why would she care about him? the Foxes are not a thing, Neil's 18, plus she's not doing it for Wymack bc he doesn't want to have anything to do with Neil!

why would she sacrifice herself for Neil's "cause" ???

i love how all of this bs is just me trapping myself with personal hcs✨ (ut then it wouldn't be my fic otherwise, would it?)

so if she's not Tess, who is she?

she could be Rhemann's wife in /Jackson/, but AGAIN, Maria is strong af, and Abby is... Abby. Rhemann could build the commune and Abby be his nurse/medic wife, but that's erasing a woman in power, a Black woman no less, so i don't really vibe with that... plus now i just got a lightbulb moment, so yeah, ok, she could be just a wife with no real purpose in /Jackson/ (hey, that sounds an awful lot like her role at PSU... jk jk)

but more importantly, if she's not Tess, who is?

From my Christmas fic The Greatest Gift I’ve Found, The Sweetest Thing I’ve Known, which was posted last week. I’d love it if you checked it out 🥰

They’re woken up an hour or so later by a sharp knock on the front door. TK trails after Carlos into the living room, fingers curled softly into the back of his shirt.

“Baby, are you expecting someone?”

“No,” Carlos says as he opens the door. There’s nobody there, and TK makes a questioning sound and hooks his chin over Carlos’s shoulder. “Flowers,” Carlos declares. He bends down and picks up a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers in a vase. “Somebody sent you flowers, babe. Who do I need to be jealous of?”

“Jealous of them for sending me flowers? Or jealous of me for getting flowers?” TK asks as Carlos closes the door and brings the flowers to the kitchen counter.

“Hmm, both, I guess.”

“Read the card, babe.”

Carlos’s face lights up as he reads the card. “Baby, nobody’s ever sent me flowers before.”

“First of all, that’s a shame and I’m going to send you flowers all the time now,” TK teases. “But, baby. It’s your first Christmas without your dad. I thought today would probably be hard for you and I just hoped this might brighten your day.” He says the last part with a hopeful tilt of his head.

“Sunflowers,” Carlos says with a thoughtful look. He bends to sniff at one of the flowers. “Those were my dad’s favorite.”

“I know.”

Gabriel had a small garden of sunflowers in the front yard that he prided himself on. They’d just begun to bloom when TK and Carlos went to the house for dinner one evening a few weeks before the wedding. Gabriel had walked them around the garden, showing off the blooms and telling them about his fertilizing schedule and the battle he’d been waging against the neighborhood squirrels that liked to munch on their stalks.

“Baby, that’s so sweet of you-” he pauses where he was beginning to cross over to wrap TK up in a hug when his phone rings on the counter. The screen lighting up with Andrea’s contact name, ‘Mami.’

“I may have sent her flowers too,” TK says sheepishly.

“Babe,” Carlos says before answering the phone. “Hi Mom.”

“Carlitos!” Her joviant voice comes through the speaker. “Is TK working? I tried to call him. He sent me the loveliest flowers. That husband of yours, such a sweet boy.”

“Oh, Mami, he’s right here he must have left his phone in the bedroom. We slept in kind of late.”

“Carlitos, it’s almost 10 am!”

“Oh, they’re young and in love, let them sleep in,” a familiar voice chimes in from the background, tone playfully suggestive. “Carlitos, you better take advantage of having that gorgeous boy in your bed.”

“Hi, Tía Lucy,” Carlos deadpans. “Mami, TK’s right here.”

“Hi Andrea,” he says cheerfully, crossing the room to wrap himself around Carlos’s side like a koala. Carlos wraps an arm around him and drops a quick kiss to his temple as Andrea starts talking.

“Oh TK, thank you for the beautiful flowers, mi dulce muñequito — just so sweet of you. You know, sunflowers were Gabriel’s favorite. I can’t believe it’s been seven months,” she says wistfully. “Our first Christmas without him. He loved you boys so much.”

TK feels Carlos tense, his grip on TK tightens slightly.

“I wish he could have had the chance to see you boys married,” she continues. “To see you as a husband, Carlitos. I know he’s so proud. And he was proud to call you his son-in-law, TK. Even though you weren’t married yet. He’d talk about his son-in-law, the dual-certified medic who saved kids from frozen lakes and mine fields. Although, personally, I wouldn’t mind if you did a few less of those rescues. I’m sure Carlitos agrees with me.”

Carlos huffs a laugh and hums in agreement.

“Well,” TK says, beaming up at Carlos. He rests a hand on Carlos’s broad chest, just over his heart. “I’m proud to be your son-in-law. And I’m forever grateful to Gabriel, and to you, for raising such an incredible son.”

Carlos blushes and shakes his head.

“Thank you, TK, I agree with that.” She says with a sigh. “Well I should let you boys get back to whatever you were doing.”

“Sleeping in!” Lucy shouts in the background.

“Ay, dios mio,” Carlos mutters.

“Thank you, Lucy!” Andrea sings. “Alright, feliz Navidad, boys. We will see you tonight?”

“Yes, Mami. Love you.”

“Alright,” Carlos says once he’s hung up the phone. “Let’s go back to bed.”

“What? Babe, I had to fight you to get you to stay in bed with me earlier. You wanna go back to bed?”

“Yeah,” Carlos says, voice deep as he approaches TK. He’s got a determined look on his face. It’s all the warning TK gets before Carlos grabs him around the waist and hauls him up over his shoulder.

“Carlos!” He squeals as he’s carried towards the bedroom.

“You heard the woman,” he accentuates his point with a slap to TK’s ass, “Let’s sleep in.”

also my bestie is the same with human AUs so i completely get it, and am so pleased & proud my work can be considered so in character to bypass that worry. i agree that the 6,000 years of pining, as well as their separation from the rest of humanity, is a massively integral part of what makes aziraphale and crowley. but imo their lil everyday interactions are just as important, like their flow of conversation and all the temptation vs resistance.

so as long as human AUs recreate that dynamic in some way, they can be sooo fun to read. and then you unlock a whole new range of stories for when you get tired of the same/similar End Of The World narrative. it's hard to get it right, especially when writing a completely different medium like twitch chats and discord messages, but soooo rewarding when it lands 😭🙏 thank you again.
