Please rant. (I may or may not have watched it, too)
Okay so if nobody wants to read this, here’s the TL;DR of how I felt about the entire series at the close of the show:
Tumblr media
If you do, I just:
Tumblr media
First off, I see a lot of people bash GRRM as an author, and while I think a lot of it is warranted, a lot of it I think, is unfair. GRRM, like every single other fantasy author who’s penned anything after 1970, has to live under the massive shadow of Tolkien, which is not a very easy shadow to get away from, develop a distinctive style from, or not borrow heavily from, particularly if your flavor of fantasy is high fantasy. But despite my qualms with Martin (how have the Wildlings been separated from the rest of Westeros for 6,000-8,000 years and not developed a separate language at this point? Why is the Faith of the Seven and the Faith of the Old Gods SO fucking lazily constructed? Why can’t Martin keep his numbers straight when he talks about his battles? Why did I have to read a sex scene in which a guy who is still somehow massively obese despite living in a frozen wasteland for a year and a half fucks a girl on a ship and drinks her breastmilk? Jolkien Rolkien Tolkien would have never done this to me) I still love his writing. Because Martin has always set out to explore “the human heart at war with itself” in a fantasy setting, and despite all the problems I have with him, I think he’s done a tremendous job of it.
You see, there are SO many things I could bitch about with this show, so, so many (ask me later why I hate all the blue dresses Emilia Clarke wears) But honestly? None of them really matter as much as what I view as the Main Problem of the show, and actually, a good portion of them stem from the Main Problem. What’s the Main Problem? The Main Problem is that despite George’s pussyfooting lapsed Catholic views (which is why we don’t get, in my opinion, in-universe religions that are fleshed out very well) despite his absolute weeny “war is so mean and bad :(“ Vietnam draft dodger takes, George Raymond Richard Martin is a Romantic at heart, and he loves his readers, he loves fantasy, and he loves putting his characters through horrendous, disgusting, grimy, hopeless situations, because when they come through, beaten, nearly torn to shreds—but alive, he is right there celebrating the unbreakable endurance of the human spirit with his readers. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are nihilists who hate their audience and who love shoving their faces into mud and filth for no reason other than they take a sick pleasure in the pain and disgust of the people who’s faces they’re shoving into mud and filth.
I don’t remember the exact quote or interview, or which of them said it, but one of the D&D’s said that they were first inspired to develop the Song of Ice and Fire book series into a show when they read the Red Wedding scene. This is already a horrendous start. They were salivating the thought of bringing a scene that was supposed to be so horrible, so disgusting and unspeakably repulsive and wrong that it reverberates around the world and even is witnessed by characters who aren’t emotionally involved nor even geographically near (recall that Danaerys has a vision of it in the House of the Undying long before it happens). But GRRM didn’t write that scene, nor any other awful scene to rub his reader’s face in misery and horror. Recall how the death of Eddard Stark is written. He suffers in a hallucinatory fever for days before his execution, agonizing about the wrong he’s committed in his life. His death is witnessed by his two daughters. From a Watsonian standpoint, our hearts are meant to break, just as Sansa and Arya’s hearts broke when they are made to look on the death of their father. From a Doyalistic standpoint, the death of Ned Stark was nearly inevitable, just as the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi and so many other mentors had to happen, because the death of the mentor is an integral part of the hero’s journey. Ned’s death sets his widow and all of his children upon their paths to their own inevitable triumphs and ends. Furthermore, in any comedy, that is, in any story that ends happily, the hero or heros must travel in gyre. That is, they must travel on a crooked, twisting path to reach the end. If they don’t endure trials before they end, there’s no catharsis for them. Othello travels in a straight line towards Desdemona to place his hands around her neck to strangle her, without stopping. Without thinking that maybe he might check to really see if she’s been unfaithful. As a rule, straight lines end in tragedy, twisted roads end in comedy. The point of what I’m trying to say is that: GRRM didn’t kill Ned Stark to be malicious or to purposely cause pain to his readers. He killed him because the plot needed it. But D&D? Dipfuck and Duckfucker killed Ned, and Ros, and Sandor Clegane, and Theon, and all the people they killed because they think it’s funny when people die and they revel in filth and misery and they hate when things are good. Look at the way GRRM writes Ned’s arrival in King’s Landing versus the way D&D write it. BookNed rides up, and is immediately summoned to the Small Council meeting. He tells the messenger to wait while he changes into nicer clothes, knowing that appearances are important, knowing full well that he’s walking into a den of vipers. ShowNed? He walks right into the Small Council meeting in his travel clothes, brusquely brushing off the messenger’s protestations that he change into something nicer in a thick Scottish accent. Why does he do this? Because Ned Stark is so stupid and so dumb and he doesn’t play the Game of Thrones.why does Show Ned Stark trust people like Maester Pycelle and Littlefinger? Well BookNed doesn’t trust Pycelle, and has no reason at all to distrust Littlefinger or any way to know that he’s going to be betrayed by him. But again, ShowNed is a fucking stupid, dumbfuck hick, and he doesn’t know how to blay the GAMBE of Thrones!!! Why does BookNed inform Cersei that he’s going to tell Robert about the incest, and give her a chance to leave? Because he’s one of the ONLY people who has a kind, honorable, and true heart, and he doesn’t t want to see a woman and children be killed. And again, he has NO possible way of knowing that Petyr Baelish is going to betray him. But ShowNed? Well he does this because he’s STUPID and he doesn’t know how to play the gAmE oF tHrOnEs and only STUPID people are nice,,,,IDIOT!!!!!and this is the problem. (Continued in reblogs)

the conversation between clark and khalid is such an interesting piece of work, because even after phillip kennedy johnson took over, this implication that clark is willfully avoiding being responsible for jon due to his traumatic age-up never really goes away… like i know bendis gets all the bad rep for his lore choices, but kennedy johnson had no problem staying true to that sentiment by sending clark to warworld after bendis very explicitly wrote that clark agreeing to send jon away to the 31st century was one of his poor ways of coping with change, while both bendis and kennedy johnson wrote jon on the verge of a mental breakdown due to the fear of losing his father bc of what he’d learnt in the 31st century.
clark was avoiding a conversation he needed to have while khalid clocked his repressed rage over losing the ability to raise his son in a happy and healthy manner versus losing him to his crackhead birth father and whatever the fuck else space did to him. like it’s there. both bendis and kennedy johnson saw it, but like with jon’s myriad of mental health issues, we know clark doesn’t actually DO anything about it bc of the million other things going on, bc once jon and clark reunite, jon becomes clark’s plot device on account of kennedy johnson’s narrative choice.
tl;dr: clark and jon’s fight is the single greatest untold story right now, and i only wish we had someone who was dedicated to the soap opera antics to write it for us 😔

Secret invasion(2023) makes no sense (a review/my thoughts on the show, presented with memes)
(Spoilers ahead)
.
.
.
Just finished the whole show in one sitting, after watching the first episode and seeing Maria died at the end I kinda lost all interest ngl, but I do care about The Marvels so, you gotta do what you gotta do *shrugs*
Anyway, here are some thoughts on the show presented with memes to make things less boring
First, let’s get one thing clear:
The girls when Maria Hill died for nothing:
Tumblr media
Don’t think I needed to explain this one, rip Maria
Tumblr media
Look if they are trying to set up The Marvels with secret invasion than why the fuck did they sent fury back down to earth in the beginning just so they sent him back up at the end???
What’s even is the point of sending Fury down at the first place smh
Fury @ the skrulls
Tumblr media
It bothers me that Fury knows he couldn’t find a new home for the skrulls all these years ago and just decided to not tell them? What’s worse is that he got mad at Talos when he told him he called all the skrull refugees to earth because Fury was absent.
Like man make a deal with the skrulls, used them to do his bidding, finds out he can NOT find them a new home, and just did nothing about it??
This is either bad writing from the writers or Fury is just the worse person ever
My reaction to Fury leaving Talos’s body on the fucking ground:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty self explanatory, I understand his death is (sort of) necessary to the story, Talos was trying to show humanity who the skrulls are in hopes of gaining trust and empathy from them( I guess, we don’t really get enough of the skulls to tell us what the fuck they do)
Again, seeing Fury saving the president first then promise to come back to get Talos, resulting in him getting stab by Gravik, all while showing little to no reaction to his death after?!
Aren’t you guys bff for years???
Like I get it, Fury is the super spy that must focus on the big picture and deal with his personal emotions later, but we get literally no reaction about it other then one conversation with G’iah and even then, she’s the one who asked to have her father’s body back so that she could bury him.
(Maybe I don’t understand Fury’s character idk)
Now enough about the rant, tl;dr in terms of plot, they have no plot, things don’t make sense character wise( or I just don’t understand these characters), I have no fucking idea what even is the theme of this show, yeah it’s just all over the place
So let’s talk about the positives :
Emilia Clarke, exists :
Me:
Tumblr media
Tbh is not just her, Olivia Colman and Charlayne Woodard both did a good job of portraying their characters.
Sonya is a scary fella who give no fucks and Varra/ Priscilla shows us the human side of the skrulls/ Fury( still absolutely hated that scene when Varra asked Fury “would you have loved me if I’d never changed” then Fury had the balls to say “guess we never know”???)
Also the fight scenes are alright and I like the final stand off between Gravik and Fury (G’iah in disguise ) NOT the fight scene, the scene where Gravik was calling out Fury, loved the intensity and energy of that scene, it shows how angry Gravik is towards Fury(rightly so) and explains why Gravik did what he felt like he needed to do.
Anddd yeah that’s it idk what more to say, still excited about The Marvels tho

opinions on red lantern supergirl?
oooohhhhh this is a good question and not one i’ve really thought about before!! admittedly, i know next to nothing about kara besides the details of her origin, so i don’t know how well her personality matches being a red lantern. however, considering her origins against the origins of the red lantern corps itself is incredibly interesting. also, i have not yet read the n52 red lanterns so, so i may get some details wrong.
for anyone not aware, the red lantern corps was founded by atrocitus. his name might make you think “oh yeah, that’s a bad dude” because. yknow. atrocity. however, the atrocity is not him, but what was done to him. the manhunters (the guardian’s first attempt at a universal peace force) went “rogue”, wiping out almost all life in sector 666. it was later revealed that krona, the rogue guardian, caused the glitch in their programming just to prove a point to the rest of the guardians. one of the five survivors was atrocitus. after an attempt to rise against the guardians, they were imprisoned on ysmault, and atrocitus’ rage was so strong that, alongside the use of blood magic, he was able to tap into the red light of rage, and forge a corps that used both this light.
so, the red lanterns are inseparable from grief, tragedy, and pain that the members were caused, not that they caused. bleez, another member of the corps, was kidnapped, raped, and tortured. dex-starr (who is, for reference, a cat) received a ring after the murder of his owner, life homeless on the street, and almost being thrown off the brooklyn bridge. guy gardner suffered extreme abuse at the hands of his father. each red lantern has a story of extreme trauma emotional hurt that would lead them to anger as a secondary emotion or even coping mechanism.
it is because of this that they are often regarded as anti-heroic. many of them do truly want to prevent what happened to them from happening to other people, but are held back by their rage, or their rage affects the extent to which they can help. for example, during blackest night, atrocitus was convinced to help fight against the black lanterns because of his experience being a survivor of the manhunter massacre. earth was headed towards the same path, the only difference was the culprit. during new52, under the leadership of guy, the red lanterns were actually the guardians of earth.
now how does this actually relate to supergirl? well, comparisons can easily be drawn between her backstory and many red lanterns (mostly, in my opinion, atrocitus and bleez). iirc, she was older than clark during the death of krypton, and had far more memories of that. additionally, i’ve seen a lot of analysis on the oversexualisation and objectification of her character, and from what i’ve seen she’s had some… not good relationships. so, that is two possible sources of the extreme anger, which we can relate back to characters who are red lanterns, and there are probably far more that i am not aware of. does being a red lantern make sense for her character? i’m not sure, because i don’t know if rage was a common secondary emotion for her, but by comparing backstories there are a lot of similarities.
“but wouldn’t being a red lantern make her a villain?” nope! as i mentioned previously, the red lanterns are often anti-heroic, even under the leadership of atrocitus. but, iirc, kara became a red lantern when the majority of the corps was being led by guy gardner. and he is a hero, even under the influence of the red light (which i believe had been minimal at this point, or there were at least ways to correct it for some time).
tl;dr: rage is not an inherently bad emotion, and can even be used as a force of good, or at least a motivation for anti-heroes. kara has several events in her life that could lead to extreme anger, and it makes sense that they would.

So after finishing Justice League Incarnate I think I know where the next big DC event is going...
First off, Justice League is not dying. What I think happens is they each will get trapped on their own version of an idyllic Earth, like Barry currently is. When he was transported there by Pariah, it looked like he was atomized. So the survivor will say that’s what happened to them, however, I do believe near the end of the series we’re going to see respective heroes go in and ‘free’ the Leaguers (Wally, Barry; Dick, Batman; Jon, Clark; etc.)
That being said...
I also remember their being rumblings that Bruce remembers that he and Catwoman had a daughter together who was lost in one of the great crises (and then soft-rebooted/reborn as Helena Bertinelli aka Huntress but shh...)
Anyway, this is me big braining here and saying that what if, spinning out of this Dark Crisis, Batman tries to find his daughter and it turns out Helena Bertinelli is his daughter or that he has to accept she’s gone (or an alternate-universe version isn’t his) and he ends up adopting Helena as his daugther (because how Detective Comics is going, it really feels like Batman’s taken on a father-figure-like relationship with Helena which was... a choice, not a bad choice but one that made me curious to see where that character direction/arc was going).
TL;DR Justice League ain’t dying and we might get Helena Wayne after Dark Crisis

Bellamy Blake: Season Three
As I was watching season three, I saw a text post defending Bellamy’s actions in this season and claiming that he was in the right the whole time. While the post in question was clearly written by a stan of Bellamy and I don’t agree with most of the points that were made, it did make me take a step back from the hate train that I was on with Bellamy in this season and really try to think things through his point of view.
Watching this season from an outside perspective, it is very easy to hate Bellamy this season. He literally kills 300 innocent Grounders just because his girlfriend of two maybe three months died. He follows Pike even as his measures reach new extremes and it seems as though he only decides to stray from Pike’s side once Octavia is in danger. It’s very frustrating to watch and I’ve mentioned before that I thought this to be a major character assassination for him. While I still don’t like him, I am able to reconcile his seemly out of character motivations, at least a little bit.
TL;DR Pike used his grief as a weapon to believe all Grounders were the “bad guys” and only when he was faced with the hypocrisy of Pike’s words was he willing to move against him. But his real turn of character lies when he finally faces his consequences in the form of Niylah.
It is important to note that while Clarke and Kane were all for trying to make peace with the Grounders, Bellamy was always hesitant toward them, even when they were working together in season two. It doesn’t help that for most of that season where the two groups are working harmoniously, he was a spy and didn’t witness any of that. The next time he hears about the Grounders, they abandoned them in Mount Weather. I wouldn’t say his views of them overall are negative since he still has a good relationship with Lincoln and Indra, but they aren’t positive either.
So when a Grounder he thought he could trust led him away from Mount Weather and results in everyone, including his girlfriend, dying, it adds fuel to the fire that already made him hesitant. And it isn’t just the fact that his girlfriend dies. It’s everyone else as well. He blames himself for everyone’s deaths because he was supposed to be there to protect them. Pike saw his grief, his weakness, and he took advantage of it. He stoked his hatred and put thoughts in his head that Bellamy might not have normally had. In his pain, he was willing to put aside his logic that not all Grounders were dangerous and put on Pike’s black and white glasses. And he did. And he helped get Pike elected as Chancellor. And he killed an army of sleeping Grounders.
Once Bellamy actually kills those Grounders, his loyalty to Pike strengthens, despite all of the questionable decisions that he makes after that and not just because Pike is still manipulating him. Because for Bellamy, admitting that Pike’s view point is wrong means that he killed an army of innocent Grounders for nothing. I doubt that’s a conscious thought for Bel since he isn’t really one for that kind of self reflection (yet), but it makes sense for his character.
But it does come to a point where Bellamy has to face Pike’s hypocrisy of Grounders bad, Arkadia good when he decided to execute Kane. After all, Kane’s little rebellion didn’t kill anyone and the only danger he posed to was Pike. And Kane isn’t a Grounder. He is a sky person. So he tries to get him, Sinclair and Lincoln out. It’s just a shame that it’s too late.
However, that isn’t really when he fully realizes what he has done. Not even after Lincoln dies and Octavia blames him, because in his mind, he was trying to save him the same as everyone else (and he was). No, when he actually begins to change for the better is when he meets Niylah, whose father he killed in the Grounder army. That’s when the Grounder army shifted from the enemy to people. He even says at the end of that episode: “What do you do when you realize you might not be the good guy?”
He makes steps toward redemption after that and is notably less willing to kill people which is clear when they get to Polis and he makes it clear that they shouldn’t kill the people controlled by Allie if they could help it, directly going against Pike’s actions of murdering anyone in their way. That growth makes him a better man from this point onward and one of my favorite characters by the time we get to season five.

Just out of curiosity, why don’t you like young justice??
aight, so i knew i was gonna wait to respond to this ‘til i had some time to explain.
and i want to start out by saying that i don’t think Young Justice, as a property, is a bad show. in fact, i think it’s a show that had GREAT potential. i watched every new episode via livestream every saturday lol. and now, i’ll be honest when i say it’s been some time since i’ve rewatched it, and i’m always open to changing opinions. a few years back, i wanted to give it another, fresher perspective and dove in for a rewatch, but ultimately didn’t finish. i don’t remember my reasoning exactly, but i recall being disappointed.and it’s funny i received this ask this week, b/c my friend and i were planning on giving it another rewatch for shits and giggle after finals ( sober or not is tbd ).
but so, here’s where i stand on the show.
i started watching YJ when it was abt 5 episodes into s1. and i binged those first five and stick to my guns that holy SHIT 1-3 are bomb as FUCK. super strong start! Independence Day will never not get me SO HYPE and remind me why i fell in love with DC’s teenage heroes in the first place. it’s so… youthful. a fun conversation for another time.
and now, when i started watching YJ, it was like four months into my making my TT!Kid Flash rp blog, and two months after i’d gotten into reading comics; when i found out Wally was like a biG DC CHARACTER, NOT JUST AN OLD CARTOON ONE-SHOT, i went EVERYWHERE to get my hands on more about Wally West. ironically, the first purchase i ever made from a comic store was a silver age Teen Titans tale, issue #2 of TTY1, and two issues of the old Young Justice comics ( still some of my favorite comics to this day; more on that later ).TL;DRi saw a commercial for YJ, ft. my fave DC char and my fave comic title and went “HOSHIT”.
as the episodes pushed the show’s plot along, it was fun and explorative of a more intense side to the idea of a group of superteens in the DCU. and again, very TEENAGER-Y, which i say in the BEST of ways, considering that was the target audience as well. but, as part of that audience at the time, one of the things that had started to bother me was the character relationships. yeah, i was loving on most of the main cast at the time, but for the first half of the season, the team’s supposedly-close friendships were pushed to the backburner ( EXCEPT for KF and Rob’s, which was one of the only things that got me through the season ). the first season WAS about straining relationships. the social drama was palpable. you NEED conflict in your plots, and char-v-char is especially fun. but i remember feeling like there was little bonding. they were a group of acquaintances, learning to co-habitate the same space- not to say that they didn’t seem like friends, but there was a lack of balance between “teens being professionals in their field” and “teens being immature teens”. both were squeezed in, but both consistently felt forced.
which brings me to the next point: forcing relationships without developing them!i wasn’t sure why i was supposed to care about Roy, like. At all. the team always bringing up that they trained alongside him, grew with the guy, and then??? nada, except when the plot needed edgy tantrumy angst.then there was spitfire. i ship spitfire now, but the ENTIRETY of s1 i was SO FRUSTRATED, because all those two did was bicker. wally was pretty foul to artemis, who was also just plain mean to wally. and i say this with the two of them as my TOP FAVE CHARS.and don’t get me STARTED on the best char on the entire team, KALDUR’AHM!!!! who was shit on by EVERYONE– fandom and plot, alike. actually, i do recall in my last rewatch starting two tallies of everytime kaldur was DISRESPECTED and TREATED LIKE GARBAGE BY TEEN AND ADULT CHARS, versus everytime he was treated respectfully. this boy was BRUTALIZED through s1.m’gann and conner, too– a cute concept, but borderline cringey, even creepy, at times. i was rooting for supermartian. i was. but it was like the writers didn’t know how to write a slowburn. the idea was honestly better on paper than in execution.
the YJ spinoff comics filled in a lot of these gaps, i’ll admit. it explored the chars, their relationships, and their behavior in ways the show seemingly didn’t have time to do, and i LOVE the spinoff series. but i also firmly believe that you shouldn’t need a second media to fix the first. it’s capitalistic and no fun.
through the duration of the show, there were also issues such as the hiatuses. i don’t recall them coming with much warning at a time, nor sticking to much of a schedule. i don’t actually remember what they were for, either. but, before and after each of (three?? was it three?) hiatuses, the showrunners would introduce a new character during a new arc, give said character some liners or plot fodder, and do away with them for the rest of the season ( i.e Rocket, Zatanna, Garth and Tula, etc. ).
i have some other, nitpickier issues– why was wally That Way, why was clark Like That, how come bruce was the ENABLER the entire time, etc– but many can be argued as whether they affected the show as a whole or not.my actual biggest problem was the direction.the director.Greg Weisman.bc idk what the hell he was doing half the time, and i don’t think he knew, either. the writing wasn’t GREAT, but at least it was consistent. Weisman truly had a marketable property, a fan favorite, and one of CN’s best running shows at the time. but between the hiatuses, the writing’s faults, the insufficient character development, and a HUGE ego thanks to his fanbase, Weisman was unable to uphold the integrity of his show. there was both fan-pandering, AS WELL AS consciously going AGAINST fans’ wishes. there was that whole “Ask Greg”-thing, too, where he would get back to a fan once every blue moon and answer background questions about the show’s universe, which became a scene of hot debate. Greg Weisman became the JK Rowling of DC, and lost a lot of my respect with his lack of damage control, and impulse control.
then, with the very inception of the show– and i don’t actually know if i can blame weisman for this or not, but i wanna know who pitched it, otherwise– the show’s CONCEPT. why was Young Justice made with this particular cast of characters, cherrypicked through DC history, aged down or revamped or just cut-and-pasted where they didn’t fit? why was its concept, “COVERT TEAM OF ADOLESCENTS WITH SUPERPOWERS WORKING TOGETHER WITH LACK OF SUPERVISION”? why was the show called “Young Justice” when what they wanted was the TT v3 comics? WHY DID WE NEED TO TURN SUPERMAN INTO THE UNAVAILABLE-FATHER TROPE????? questions that will forever remain unanswered. that’s a lie, i can answer most of them, myself.but all in all, a show with great potential that failed in execution.
season 2, i actually enjoyed more than season 1– it felt like there was more of a handle on the story and cast, alike. did i approve of season 2 and what went down? debatable. but that’s a very subjective view. objectively, season 2 flowed better than season 1, but still didn’t follow through on subplots, nor resolved relationships or even characterization ( m’gann, girl what the fuck?? ). very little team bonding, save for, once again, two chars out of the whole team. again, another season of SO much potential, but one that fell short.
its pros, however– i really enjoyed the darker themes, getting darker as time went on. there was a lot of tragedy in s2, and different perspectives and walks of life to watch through different lenses. a much more diverse cast, and very different conflicts to tackle. i was impressed. i don’t think all the controversies were resolved, but i also wasn’t quite as upset that they weren’t; open-ended conflict is frustrating, but is a great lead-in to another season.
————which, for better or for worse, we weren’t supposed to have.i personally would’ve rather the show ended there, not quite on a high note ( are u fucking kidding me fjaoisdfjoaifio waLLY, this was during the n52, too ), but with a concrete END. of course there was more to explore, the world they’d built was a big one, but we didn’t need to.
i was literally just yesterday chatting w my sis, bc after school lets out, we wanna watch season 3. i really do. i’m upset that there is one, but i do wanna know what happens to my faves. and, on top of that, i’ve been meaning to do one BIG rewatch, anyways, to get me set up for s3. as a student of film, it’s a huge philosophy of mine to rewatch EVERYTHING and go in with the intent of giving it a fresh start and a clean slate– both medias i love, and medias i hate. it’s important to analyze pop culture critically, and even things that aren’t good can still be enjoyable.
for me, Young Justice wasn’t a phenomenal show to begin with, from its technological side to its creative team to its politics, and i stopped enjoying it pretty early on. but, that isn’t to say it didn’t accomplish GREAT things, and isn’t UN-enjoyable; it has its moments. also i would DIE for most of the cast, i fucking love the characters.
i don’t think anyone is wrong for liking Young Justice. i try to stay in the loop about it, and form new opinions based on whatever information is out there until i can get ahold of the source material. and, i do like aspects of the show. but ultimately, it just isn’t my cup of tea.

justice league thoughts - SPOILER HEAVY
PSA: these are all my personal opinions. don’t reblog this post with your “well, actually” because i don’t really care. make your own post to express your own opinions.
- superbat: amazing incredible fantastic show shopping clared my skin watered my crops paid all my bills. i loved them so much. the movie straight up and super explicitly draws a parallel between diana coping with steve’s death with bruce (not) coping with clark’s. diana is literally like “dude u gotta move on” and bruce is like “listen when YOU lost the love of your life you went into isolation from mankind for a centurty so!!! leave me be!!!”. they were seriously like “yes these two relationships are the same and there’s no difference at all between them”. it was amazing. after they save the day and for a hot second it looks like clark and victor didn’t make it, bruce literally GASPS and shouts “clark!” and i just. he was so worried that he had lost clark again after getting him back i cry 😭😭😭 bruce is just in general SO IN AWE OF CLARK and clark finally gets to know bruce for who he is and they just CLICK INSTANTLY as soon as they are both in the right mindspace. bruce is made soft by clark’s softness in a way i didn’t dare to imagine even in my wildest dreams. i can’t believe i got to see that in the actual movie. i’m blessed.
- clois: lois and clark share a bond that is simply too profound to describe with words, and so, so tender. lois was underused in the movie, it wasn’t really about her like half of bvs was (the whole thing with lois being the key doesn’t come to play here at all, maybe they’re saving it for future movies, or maybe i can explain it as in “she’s the key to make clark see reason after he’s back to life” but idk it’s not explained in any explicit terms, it’s my idea), but anyway clark’s loss fucked her up in a very realistic way, and her relationship with martha kent was really really sweet.
- w*nderb*t: for various reasons i’m not a fan of this ship in general and particularly of the dceu version, and some comments by affleck made me fear the worst. but nothing happened between them at all, there was just some teasing from alfred to which bruce responded mostly by rolling his eyes. they also have a couple of disagreements, and the whole league but diana especially roast bruce until he’s extra crispy on all sides. it was great. drag him. also there’s a scene where diana sees bruce really hurt and helps him fix his shoulder, then they talk about some of diana’s issues and have a drink. it’s very sweet, but not romantic at all, imo. i kinda went “oh no” at first, but in the end i was very happy with the way it played out. ymmv of course, but i loved how their friendship was portrayed (i.e.: as a friendship)
- SO MANY SCENES OF BRUCE IN THE BATMAN COSTUME WITHOUT THE COWL AND THEY ALL RESPONDED TO MY VERY SPECIFIC PERSONAL NEED SO. THANK YOU.
- clark was so good and soft and i love him. the way he came back to life doesn’t really agree with how bvs ended (except if maybe the end of bvs was just a way to hint to the fact that he COULD be brought back. idk.) but i loved him so much. his chest hair? wow.
- jason momoa as aquaman was amazing, and he got a couple of bullshit whedon lines but nothing too ugly. his scene with mera was incredible. would i let them both do unspeakable things to me? [maybe so meme]
- victor stone: my fave. very good emotional journey and very satisfying character development. especially cute are his scenes with diana and clark. he struggles a lot with what happened to him, but in the end he’s the key to saving the day, which i loved. so so so much love for him and ray did an amazing job.
- barry: i liked ezra in the role, but 90% of his lines are jokes. literally. only his scenes with his father aren’t played for laughs, and maybe one with batman (but still barry jokes throughout it). i had hoped to get more development out of him. kind of a pity tbh.
- diana: VERY good journey imo and i liked how they wrapped up her development with bvs and ww. her bigger issue comes from not being ready to lead a team, to tell people “fight for this, die for this” (very relatable and credible imo, even if she was trained as a warrior she never led an army) and is very beautiful how she comes to terms with it, the way she can still grow.
THE BAD STUFF:
- joss whedon: i’m an ex whedon fan. i watched firefly, buffy, angel, avengers and age of ultron, and i progressively realized that this was a sexist prick, not a feminist writer. we have all made mistakes. anyway. i know the whedon. i recognize the whedon when i see it. i hate the whedon. there’s a scene where barry finds himself with his face in diana’s boobs. he gets up super fast while she’s still lying on the ground and barely realizes what happened. @ joss that shit wasn’t funny when you pulled it on bruce banner and natasha romanoff in age of ultron years ago, and is still not funny now. stop doing it???? stop fucking doing it, goddammit. what is wrong with you. (so many things are wrong with him.)
- the jokes: this is linked with the joss whedon problem. too many, most of them not particularly funny, some of them inappropriate, a lot of them just there to ruin the fucking moment.
- the ass shots: there were a couple, which were a couple too many. all clearly from the whedon reshoots. also: the whedon reshoots are really noticeable, and really really obvious.
- the colors: the beautiful snyder colors i personally ADORED are gone. no one looks particularly bad tho, except clark. clark’s suit looks awful. AWFUL. it was kind of lucid and really just. just no.
- the movie is so CLEARLY, PAINFULLY, HEAVILY cut. most of the scenes from the trailers aren’t in the movie at all. victor talking about the batman and “i’m real when it’s useful”, bruce and diana’s “more more or more less?” scene, a lot of material about victor and barry, “don’t engage alone, we do this together”, the “age of heroes” speech, batman’s “my turn”, parts of lois’ “dream” of clark, bruce staring at clark’s hologram, SO MUCH STUFF WASN’T IN THE MOVIE AND I’M SO FUCKING PISSED. i really really hope they release an extended zack snyder cut of the movie because i want those scenes back. i was promised those scenes and i want them back. wb and whedon need to stop fucking over my mans zack.
- the amazon costumes: all that wank about the amazon costumes? it’s absolute bullshit. those skimpy outfits are nowhere to be seen in the actual movie. amazons still fight in wedges (not even patty jenkins would change that, and just WHY IS EVERYONE IGNORING THAT ?? that shit is not good) but they wear armor largely similar to what’s in wonder woman. there’s some armor that leaves their belly exposed but there were similar outfits in wonder woman too and they weren’t in an active combat situation while they were wearing those (the situation develops into combat, but unexpectedly so). i want everyone to apologize to zack snyder now lol.
TL;DR: joss whedon and wb are pieces of shit, zack snyder is a genius and i love him, superbat is real, i enjoyed most of the movie, i wish a lot of things were different but overall it could have been a lot of worse so. i’m okay. waiting to gif the hell out of it and reading all the beautiful fics!!!!

Kara sending Mon-El away DOES NOT compare to Sanvers. At all. There is no comparison to be made. The Danvers sisters dynamic obviously needs to be discussed before we enter season 3.
1.) Kara losing her boyfriend =/= Alex losing her girlfriend.
Kara has had various other relationships and has other good non-romantic relationships. Kara has a mentor in Cat Grant, a best friend in Winn AND Lena, James, CLARK, Barry, Lois and Lucy. A mom in Eliza, a pseudo-father figure in J’onn and she has the Allura AI. Oh, and the biggest one: Kara has Alex. Kara has all of these people that love her and want to support her and wish only the best for her.
Alex on the other hand, let’s examine her relationships with other people. She has Maggie, “Ride or Die” Sawyer, Eliza, and J’onn. All of her other relationships are strictly professional (Vasquez, Lucy) or are Kara’s friends (Winn, James). WIth Maggie, “I finally got her to be herself, Kara,” Alex bares her soul. She’s all in and has everything to lose, “Marry me, please.” With Eliza, Alex constantly feels like she’s failing. She literally went to medical school (compromising her mental health with the stress obviously) because that’s what Eliza expected of her. I will delve into the can of worms that is the “weight of the world” responsibility that Alex has had to shoulder since she was a child in another point. Alex’s relationship with Eliza is strained at best. Also side-note, ouch at Alex losing Jeremiah again, one of the few important people Alex has in her life. Alex’s relationship with J’onn was more mentor-mentee and professional before it was revealed he is an alien in season one. After that, we see the relationship develop and progress to where J’onn is a pseudo-father figure to Alex. But they’re still boss-employee, don’t forget that. The bond there does not constitute a healthy outlet in which Alex can express her feelings and frustrations. He is her boss after all. You may think that like with Kara, I’ll add that Alex has Kara, but you’re mistaken. Kara has Alex, Alex doesn’t have Kara. Which makes my next point.
2.) The rift between the sisters has always been there.
Their relationship is so one-sided that it’s more frustrating than laughable. Alex does anything and everything for Kara, hell, the pilot episode has Alex picking out clothes for Kara’s date even though her flight is in a few hours! Kara admits herself that everything has always been about her and that there’s been no room for Alex. Kara didn’t even know why Alex and Vicky had a falling out! I sincerely doubt that Kara knew anything about Alex’s frustrations while in medical school. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but the closest person I have to a sibling hears everything about me (the good, the bad, and the ugly) and vice versa. I’m not saying immediately after it happens but eventually we do share everything with each other. I’m not blaming Kara for immediately latching onto Alex and trying to preserve as much of Krypton as she could, I am however blaming the Danvers parents for encouraging and enabling the behavior. No one should ever have the entire life of another person depend solely on them, that puts an ENORMOUS amount of pressure on the person that is being relied upon. Alex literally entered the Black Mercy AND flew Kara’s pod into space because she thinks Eliza would never forgive her if she allowed Kara to get hurt (whoo at that backlash in season 1 after Kara becomes Supergirl and Alex is afraid of what Eliza would say while Kara says not to worry and then Eliza tears Alex a new one. Makes you wonder what all Kara has missed in her obliviousness.)
Kara states while under red kryptonite that Alex has always has been jealous of Kara which I 100% believe to be true. Kara received special attention and care from Eliza and Jeremiah and never had to take the blame for any of her actions. What sibling wouldn’t hold resentment? Especially once it was revealed that Jeremiah was blackmailed into joining the DEO because of Kara which resulted in his (not really) death. That had to sting and speaking of death, Alex literally killed Kara’s aunt that she was slowly converting to the good side. Twin sister that literally looked identical to Kara’s biological mother. This was never actually resolved by the show.
We saw in a flashback that Alex was punished for Kara’s actions unfairly because, seriously, Alex was just a teenager. From what can be inferred, Kara ruined Alex’s social standing in school (which sounds petty but actually can be the cause of a lot of psychological distress) and also someone makes a comment about how Alex should know how dangerous aliens/Kara can be, which another flashback to the beach implies that Alex was injured from the explosion AND also that Kara probably accidentally injured Alex multiple times in their childhood.
3.) Kara is afraid of “losing” Alex and repeatedly lashes out and causes Alex to feel guilty for anything she does that doesn’t pertain to Kara.
I could quote so many things but I feel like this point is pretty universally understood. I will point out the manifested guilt Alex has from both Eliza and Kara: “I was happy for five minutes!” Yeah, okay so it wasn’t the best move for Alex to decide to go to her favorite band’s concert on the Earth birthday in which Kara had finally been on Earth longer than Krypton (kinda insensitive) but if we’re being honest, it’s not like Kara would’ve been THAT upset normally. She literally made the plans THAT morning to try and distract herself. I could make a whole other post highlighting how the absence of Cat Grant, the sudden missing time due to vigilante shenanigans with Winn and James, and the sudden stop of 24/7 care by Alex turned Kara towards Mon-El in the first place but this isn’t that post.
Kara making Alex feel guilty for having another person in her life is extremely manipulative. I’m sure Alex lost a lot of quality sister time once Kara became Supergirl but she never seems to complain about that. Alex having another person in her life shouldn’t cause Kara to constantly play the “Maggie” card. The rift between Kara and Maggie due to both their connections with Alex and in their professional lives is yet another thing I could write an exposé on. Kara clearly doesn’t like Maggie and the feeling is mutual, they’re just civil because Alex desperately wants them to be. Will the show ever resolve the tension? Doubtful, it’ll just be another unexplored plotline.
Alex shouldn’t have to feel guilty for finally having someone she can release her frustrations with, Alex has clearly been lighter since dating Maggie. They’re good for each other. Unlike Kara and Mon-El who consistently bring out the worst in each other. Kara is jealous that Alex isn’t 100% focused on her AND that she has a healthy relationship. It’s nasty that Kara is intent on destroying Alex’s relationship due to misplaced anger and jealousy and that’s the tea on that.
Also, Alex literally had no one before, she couldn’t even Tell Kara or Eliza about the DEO. That’s a lonely life. And Alex based her entire life around Kara and Kara was willing to just drop it all and go live with Clark, completely abandoning Alex and making her feel like she wasn’t enough and not “family” (which obviously Alex already has issues with feeling inadequate.) Tell me that isn’t ugly.
I could continue but I just wrote this in between classes and have to go to class now so.
Tl;dr The Danvers sisters have always had unresolved tension and resentment towards each other. Kara needs some emotional development and needs to stop unleashing all of her anger onto Alex. It’s ugly that they’re going to try and parallel Karamel and Sanvers when the ships are completely different.

Unlocking Season 4′s potential: a Riley story (I swear this isn’t crack)
TL;DR: I think Riley was supposed to be a LI for Clarke, and Monty + Harper filled a story-line that Bryan + Miller was supposed to have, and that Miller was supposed to go to space.
We know that when the actor who plays Bryan abruptly left the show to pursue another role, which resulted in the parts written for him being given to a new character named Riley. So with the information we have, what was Bryan supposed to be doing in 4A and 4B?
Well first let’s ask ourselves…
What was Riley supposed to be doing before this shift in plot line?
Answer: Clarke.
I call forward as evidence:
1. The awkward hug.
Clarke clearly recognizes Riley, and clearly has a history with him. This is never resolved (and evidently never will be). Why waste the audience’s time with this?
2. Niylah’s out of character return
When the actor who got cast as Riley had to shift into Bryan’s role in 4A, someone else had to shift into what had originally been carved out as the Riley role. Hence the return of Niylah.
Why on Earth would Niylah want to climb into bed (so to speak) with the very kru that killed her family? Why would she want to tend bar for the people who executed her father?  After the violent interaction she had with Skaikru in Season 3 where they stormed her home - which resulted in it being attacked by ALIE - why would she want to be anywhere near Skaikru ever again?
Clarke’s magic ladybits can only explain so many of these questions without some very explicitly stated plot - and helping make rations is hardly good enough.
How Niylah turned around to accepting Skaikru is 100% glossed over... almost as if it wasn’t planned for.
3. Niylah’s extremely lacking season 4 character arc.
If Niylah’s presence in the Skaikru area was planned all along - why didn’t she play a role in helping free Bellamy in 4x11? Surely she’d want to help all the people she had traded with in the past survive the radiation blast.
If her presence was planned all along, why did she play a bizarrely helpless role in stopping Illian when he arrived at Arkadia to blow up the place? What happened to the capable Niylah who lied to the Prince of Azgeda in the premiere of Season 3?
98% of Niylah’s role is season 4 was to be a place of comfort for Clarke to go to, where Clarke could exposition her internal thought process.
Because that was what Riley’s role was supposed to be - and it would make sense in the context of a new character whose role was crafted to serve this piece of plot.
4. Timing of Riley’s and Niylah’s appearances
Niylah doesn’t show up until episode 5, which is a few episodes after Riley is introduced. In theory, if Riley had stayed in his original role this would have been enough time for Clarke to catch up with Riley and do her usual grief bang move with her old love interest.
Furthermore, the fact that Riley gets a reaction, introduction, and hug - and Niylah just sort of shows up should raise some alarm bells about how she was not originally supposed to be in this season.
What was Nathan supposed to be doing this season?
Last year Jarod Joseph tweeted he would be back in Season 4 in a “big way”… and yet the season showed us otherwise. Aside from break up with Bryan,  sharing moon-eyes with Jackson, and being a guy with a gun when you need a guy with a gun.
So what was he supposed to be doing?
Answer: part of the Monty/Harper 4B plot.
Supporting evidence:
1. Riley being built up in 4A and then being sidelined in 4B just to die.
The writers had to dispose of Riley after he filled in the role of Bryan in 4A. As much as we all love Riley, let’s be real, he was never Spacekru material. There also wasn’t space to resolve his character in the finale (see below) because Niylah had taken his role so he just got... disposed of.
2. Bryan’s planned path of descent in 4A.
We know that the episode where Bellamy talks down Riley from assassinating Roan was supposed to be Bryan. We know that Bryan was headed to a darker place with respect to his mental health. The break up with Nathan (or what was at least going to be the start of a line of major fights) likely didn’t help either.  Season 3 had already established that there was strain in this relationship (Bryan and Miller taking different sides in the Pike/Kane leadership) so this also wasn’t coming out of nowhere. Speaking of which…
The scene where Harper accidentally is linked to an Arkadian dying was probably Bryan’s last straw. But for Harper it was... the only straw? How did she break so fast? Being cut from the list could have added to that... but it seems a bit like she was shoehorned into a role meant for someone else.
3. People arguing that they want to live in 4A and then deciding to die in 4B?????
Both Harper and Riley are a part of the mob that are pissed at Clarke for creating the list and excluding them. Now just a few weeks later they are OK with dying? That’s not right. How did their anger turn in that direction so quickly?
4. Monty on double comfort duty at the DNR den
For me this one of the most compelling reasons for why Harper was supposed to be Bryan.
I believe Monty and Harper were still supposed to both be at Arkadia, but they were both supposed to be there because of Jasper’s importance to Monty. This would have been mirrored by Nathan and Bryan also being there and having a very similar fight to the one Harper and Monty had in the actual episode. By having these two pairs there (Monty + Jasper, Nathan + Bryan) it would have really drawn out the parallels between these journeys with respect to mental health.
But instead we essentially had an understaffed Monty running back and forth between two people to comfort them which made for awkward pacing during the episode.
The impacts of Bryan’s replacement on the finale.
Nathan and Bryan were supposed to go to space.
If the above scenarios had come to pass, then Nathan and Bryan would have been with the Arkadia group, meaning they would have been able to go to space. If this had happened, it would have really helped frame Octavia as alone again underground isolated from her peers.I also get the impression that Nathan + Dad Miller were filling in a storyline that someone else was meant to have, to echo back to Tor Lenkin and his kid and really emphasize that “are we really doing this again?” parallel. I think the kid everyone joked that Jaha adopted was supposed to be that kid. Instead that new Tor and his kid got sort of shuffled to the side as the writers scrambled to shoehorn in how they would save Nathan when he had been left off the list.
Emori was supposed to be kicked out of the second dawn bunker.
The Arkadians pushing around and then kicking out Niylah didn’t make very much sense... Why would her [grounder] people abandon her? Because she spent 2 months hanging out over at Arkadia? That seems a little bit like an over-reaction. Are we supposed to believe she was so bad at trading that she had no favours she could use to get picked by her people? I hardly believe that. Again - what happened to the Niylah who could boldly lie in the face of the prince of Azgeda?
Now go back to the finale and imagine it was Emori who got kicked out by the Arkadians — this is a highly believable scenario because Emori has no people to speak for her since she was cast out for being different. John following his heart again because they are going to make it together in the bunker. Clarke giving her helmet to Emori would have meant so. much. more.  on the heels of Emori being thrown out of the second dawn bunker, combined with how Clarke used the nightblood on herself instead of Emori. And then Emori saying “can’t we wait a little longer?” for Clarke after all that? Ugh my emotions.
...And now the crack
(Look I have no self control - I can’t write meta without including crack)
Was Clarke supposed to be pregnant?
YEAH I KNOW, OK, BUT HEAR ME OUT.
1. Why has Jason insisted on calling Madi “Clarke’s child” as opposed to her little sister? Is it a hang-up from where the plot was supposed to go?
2. Consider this: what if for “science reasons” the nightblood only worked because of the child inside her? Quite frankly we had an entire episode around why nightblood can’t be made in a laboratory on Earth, and it was enraging to see it work in the end because that means more people could have survived. It would have been much more satisfactory to see that it was Clarke’s unique scenario that that saved her life. (Also explains the throw up in the finale). Plus it would help stress in season 5 that Clarke owes her very life to her child which is why she always puts the child first. It also explains why it was six years of time gap. A five year old (remember, we lose almost a year because pregnancy time) is old enough/big enough to get into trouble on their own. Four years old is kinda pushing it on the “this is way too young” spectrum.
Some Last Thoughts
Something I hope I haven’t stirred up, but that I will mention in case I did, is that I hope this doesn’t come off as anti-niylah/niylarke. My complaints are really that Niylah and her relationship with Clarke could have been done way better in this season. Ultimately it was great relationship for Clarke to have (and honestly, probably a better pairing than Riley + Clarke would have been), but the execution was really off for all the reasons I named above.
I think a lot of the pacing problems with the season can be traced back to Bryan’s exit. It makes me ask - why didn’t they just recast? But I guess that’s not really something they do with this show (except for Madi?? IDK)
I’m sure there are other pieces to this puzzle I am missing, but I find this concept so easy to lock in with the season that I just can’t help but believe it was what was originally written.
Either way it’s unprovable and not canon... but I thought I’d share my speculation for what might have been with you all. Hope you enjoyed.

harvey-mckenzie363 mentioned you on a post
“Best Cartoon Fathers + Clark Kent”
@salt-sass-and-lyrium I heard that he left Kara in an orphanage or something after meeting her but it's not important, I do not deny that Comics!Clark is a good person, maybe it's even better that I know but in this case I talk exclusively of Clark of Young Justice (Earth -16 btw) and I've don't read the comics because I'm not good with them, I'm a fan of DC in series and animated films and I hope it's not a bad thing.
Side note: The “left Kara in an orphanage” was canon Pre-Crisis, like late 1950s-early 1960s, but they still worked together and he still cared for her. It wasn’t like he just abandoned her there and never went back. It was a “I can’t take her in without risking my secret identity so let me put her in a safe place until she’s adopted”, which she was. Post-Crisis (the canon from like 1985 til New52), when Clark and Bruce find Kara, Clark immediately takes responsibility for her, and arranges for her to go to Themyscira and train with Wonder Woman and stay with the Amazons, as she had no control over her powers and it wasn’t really safe for her (or others) anywhere else.
Moving on
OK. Let’s talk about Young Justice Clark.
Young Justice Clark, upon meeting the clone he had no idea existed, and only existed because Clark was severely violated:
Did not attempt to harm Conner
Didn’t lock him up
Didn’t send him away
Didn’t demand he be destroyed
Allowed him to be on the YJ team (do you honestly think if Superman put his foot down and said “Absolutely no Superboy” Conner would’ve been allowed on the team?)
Allowed him to live with the other team members, which ensured he was provided relatively stable (I mean the hideout gets attacked yada yada) housing, food, clothing, an education and training
Did not forbid him from using the S shield, which is really the sign of El, his family’s house
Did not get angry that he went by Superboy, which is obviously a play on Superman.
Did not demand he change his last name from Kent (even though Megan seemed to initially think it was for Kent Nelson, everyone and their mom knew it was for Clark)
Actually said that “it feels right” that he has the last name Kent
Worked along side Conner several times
Revealed his secret identity to Conner
Gave him a Kryptonian name (which considering Supergirl does not exist in the YJ universe, is a MAJOR deal as Clark is the only known Kryptonian in existence), Kon-El
Trusted him to carry on in his absence while he was off world
Flat out calls him his “little brother”
Was he standoffish and wary around Conner initially? Yes. Of course he was. Who wouldn’t be? Not only is Conner a reminder of him being violated on literally a molecular level, half of his DNA is also Lex Luthor (you know, his mortal enemy).
Was Clark ever cruel or abusive to Conner? No. Did he ever deliberately harm Conner in anyway? No. Did he deny Conner access to care and resources? No.
And. Again. He’s not Conner’s father.

NEED MONEY. SIGNAL BOOST.
okay so i definitely feel like a piece of shit doing this because my situation is nowhere near as dire as other people on this site who need money. and by all means please donate to those who are in desperate need of extra funds because while i am struggling here, i can probably get by.
here’s a quick rundown of my situation:
(Skip down to the TL;DR section if you want the gist of everything)
I’m a 24 year old Digital Media Production college senior, which is fancy words for film student. I have a full 16 credit course load this semester.
Basically I work three jobs but only one of them is a paying position. The other two are technically internships and I need them for experience and resume building purposes. My classes and the third job are cutting drastically into the hours for my paying job this semester, which means I am getting shitty paychecks until May when the semester ends. I haven’t even received a paycheck since December 22 due to an illness that knocked me on my ass and put me out of work for two weeks.
My next paycheck should be on February 3rd but until then I only have $12.81 in my bank account to live off of until then.
I have a $95 phone bill due in three days that I cannot pay.
I make $9 an hour, 13 hours per week, with two other unpaid jobs in between, and 6 classes. There’s no way I can possibly afford any of this with my time schedule, which at no point is going to slow down.
TL;DR I am very poor and will continue to be very poor until May. I have a $95 phone bill due in three days and $12 in my bank account currently.
Right now all that I ask is you donate whatever you can but I need at least $100 asap. There is now a paypal donate button in my sidebar. I know my situation is not dire and there are far worse things happening to people on this site that your money can be better suited for. But I really do need help and if you can spare some cash, I would really appreciate it.
I do not have much that I can give in return but if you donate any amount of money, no matter how small, I will do something for you if you wish. I am on a horrible time crunch with my schedule but I will make you something. I am not the best in any of these departments but it’s all I can offer.
Gifs/Graphics/picspams/edits - just sift through that page and take a look at my stuff. It’s been a minute since I’ve made a proper graphic but I will 100% do anything you want. Just as long as it’s a fandom I am familiar with.
Videos - I can edit raw footage or make a fanvid for a couple/show/character. In the case of a fanvid, please make sure it’s a fandom I am familiar with - otherwise it will be too difficult for me to work with UNLESS you are willing to provide the footage, which is doable but can be a pain in the ass. Here are a few links to my better videos to show you what I am capable of: one, two, three, four, five. In the case of raw footage, you would have to contact me so we can thoroughly discuss what you are looking for.
Writing fic - I am definitely not the best writer and it does take me a while to complete something because I hate everything I write lmao but I will write you some fic if you’d like! I would feel most comfortable writing Shevine, Clark/Lex, White Collar, Star Wars, LotR, or anything else that I am super familiar with. Just talk to me about it and we’ll figure something out.
If you donate and are interested in me creating something for you in return, please contact me via here on Tumblr or by email ([email protected]). We can exchange numbers, email, kik names, or whatever is easiest for us to communicate.
If you are thinking about donating and would like further details about where I am financially or need me to clear up anything, please don’t hesitate to ask! I only included the bare minimum info so I don’t overwhelm everyone.
ADDITIONAL SIDE NOTE (NOT NECESSARILY RELEVANT AT THIS TIME):
My school highly recommends that I eventually purchase a lot of high end industry-standard equipment, which is super fucking pricey. This ensures that I have what I need in order to be successful during the rest of my time in college as well as beyond into the workforce.
I need about $200 worth of school supplies for this semester.
At some point in my future I also have to build a $800 - $1000 computer capable of video editing. A lot of my school projects, as well as my future career, depends on me being able to work and edit from home. I also cannot do freelance video editing work without a computer.
I am also being implored by the school faculty to purchase a nice camera which can range in the $1000 price easily.
This equipment will be used for my school work up until graduation and will still be used after graduation as well, as I intend to be a video editor.
These are not my main concern for the moment but I am including them because there is no way I will be able to afford all of this, even when I am working full hours at my paying job.
SECOND ADDITIONAL SIDE NOTE (ALSO NOT CURRENTLY RELEVANT):
I live, rent free, with my older brother, his wife, and their two kids. I am doing relatively okay in this living situation but unfortunately my brother does have certain characteristics similar to those of our abusive father, whom I used to live with prior to Fall 2015. I love my brother and he is a giant goofball, but with my severe social anxiety and depression, living with him can be stressful. In many instances, he’s the one who unintentionally causes a lot of my anxiety or depressive episodes. He often makes me feel useless or worthless, like a waste of space. He constantly ~jokes~ about how he can’t wait for me to move out and pressures to me to save as much money as I possibly can which, as you can tell, is very difficult right now. He ~jokes~ that if I don’t make good grades and save a lot of money, he’ll kick me out of the house. I understand he wants what’s best for me and I do love him and appreciate him for letting me live with him. But he constantly (and unintentionally - I gotta stress that because he’s not a bad person, he’s just a bit of a hardass workaholic who makes 100k a year and never has to think of money as an issue) makes me feel stressed and invalidates any good work I actually do. If I have $700 saved, he tells me I should have $800. If I get an A- on an exam, he tells me it should have been an A.
Living with him makes me anxious and stressed. While it is nowhere near as bad as living with my dad, it’s enough anxiety and stress to the point where I never feel comfortable in the house.
So, as a second side note, I am trying my best to save up for an apartment so I can live with my boyfriend - who is the sweetest person on the planet and I always feel deliriously happy and safe when I am with him. That is the type of living situation I need to be in for the sake of my mental health and the success of my future. I cannot function properly in a home where I am constantly anxious about not living up to my brother’s insane expectations. I need my own space, with someone I love, where I can take care of myself.
The whole point of this is that any leftover money (if I even get any. I don’t know how any of this works or if I will find any success at all lmao I’ll probably make $4 total and finally be able to afford that cup of grapes in the dining hall) will be set aside for apartment purposes.
Again, if you are thinking of donating, thank you, and please don’t hesitate to voice any concerns or ask any questions. I will be 100% open and honest about anything in relation to this post.
If you cannot afford to donate, please just share this post so others can see.
Thank you!!!!!!
UPDATE 1/27: you guys are the sweetest and the best and donated around $150 which is more than enough to pay my $95 phone bill this month and have around $50ish leftover for any food or gas money needs. i can’t thank you guys enough.
i will still be accepting donations for the school supplies mentioned above and apartment savings but none of that is a 100% necessity right now. my priority was the phone bill and that has been taken care of thanks to those who donated.
i will possibly make a new post that just focuses on the school/apartment/living costs but like i said, those can just sit on that back burner for a bit. at least until i see how much money i get in this next paycheck, which should be on february 3rd (next friday).
again, thank you guys so much!!!! i hate doing things like this and my boyfriend found out about it last night and it embarrassed the shit out of me lmao but i love you all and appreciate this so much.
the donate button will remain in my sidebar because i am still going to be struggling this semester but the urgent bill paying shit is out of the way for now so i can breathe again.
thank you!!!!
UPDATE 1/27 #2: I have made a separate post talking about the other financial problems I currently am experiencing. please take a look!
