Imagine creating a backstory for your male and love interest character in which his sister and mother died brutally and horribly so that people would feel bad for this character (because he was the worst and disgusting asshole in the first book) and never talk about it again afterwards.

Did he really love his sister and his mother? Because his mother is mentioned some other time, but if I wouldn't have been in this fandom, I would have fucking forgotten that RHYSAND HAS A FUCKING SISTER!!

There is so much simmering below the surface of The On1y One that helps make it an engaging watch. I can’t properly put it all into words, but here’s a few thoughts:

The increasing frequency with which Tian and Wang are referred to as brothers (and the way it momentarily shutters their openness with each other and punches me in the gut).

The subtle introduction of the climate surrounding “the rainbow” at the school and the implications of what that means for Wang and Tian (and the way it’s hinted at in the stolen glances and special snacks and pointed remarks shared between the teachers).

The transition from “we aren’t close” to “we’re more than friends, we’re family” and “our relationship is better than you know and more than I expected” (and the unspoken my home is you).

Wang’s constant words of reassurance for Tian, because Tian needs to know that someone cares. Tian’s continual acts of service for Wang, because Wang needs to know someone will show up for him. (each of them providing what the other has always lacked, healing each other little by little).

Wang’s proclamations and Tian’s stolen glances and hidden smiles and the way each of them have opened up to the other in their own ways. They know whatever it is they’re building is good (even if the world is against them and they’re still a tiny bit scared).

I watch LITA for the plot.

The Plot:

Look Lita is not a plot heavy masterpiece of storytelling but it's a mame show and mame shows are just vibes...like reading a hot smut fic lol

So it still managed to be in my top 5 bls of all time and one of my most watched even if the plot is lacking imo.

It's just the feelings between the characters are so well portrayed and the chemistry is insane. Like these guys made out like their life depended on it and it shows😂
