Gavin; Gentle

Gavin wasn't made to harm people.

He knew his purpose from the moment he first coalesced, as though it was etched into his very beginning. Lust, passion and desire.

He was never supposed to hurt people.

He was supposed to pull people into indulging in parts of themselves they always pushed away, to eat away at the stress building up inside of people, to make each day a little easier by giving people something nice to look at.

So he tried.

And for a while he did that. But he never knew what else he was supposed to do. To lose himself in expectations and a thousand eyes, to slowly inch towards a line he swore he would never cross. He only ever changed the way he acted, carried himself, how he saw the world. Rife with opportunity and beds to fall into. He figured that was different, not nearly as important as his refusal to change his form.

So he changed. And changed. Until change was all he knew, until his sense of who he was became fluid and forever warping and intangible. A ghost.

But then he met someone who wanted more. Who made him solid.

He'd only ever been in a few fights before. Once or twice outside a bar, once inside. Unempowered and empowered alike. It had always felt so odd to him, so alien. Throwing punches, dodging blows, hurling magic and tinkering with the memories of his attackers once he was done. It always felt so clunky. His movements brash and clumsy, as though piloted by some external force. He prided himself on his grace, but in those moments he had all the poise of a newborn doe.

But when he was defending his Freelancer and Caelum, when he was trading blasts of raw magic with a daemon far more powerful than he, when all of the odds were stacked against him, it felt different. The power coursing through his body felt like his own, like an extension of himself. His body practically moved of its own accord, each movement innate, instinctual.

In that moment, he was more than an incubus.

He was Gavin. He was supposed to hold his Deviant and never let them go, he was supposed to make cakes with too many eggs and wear tacky couples costumes, he was supposed to ruffle Caelum's hair and astound at how much energy there was in such a small daemon.

Gavin was a gentle soul.

And he was willing to fight for the right to use it.

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

Peeta buring the bread and tossing some to her then taking a beating from his mom is a HUGE thing in the books.#he used his resources to help her like you all said someone should.#district 12 DID (rip) care about Katniss before the hunger games. why do you think she was allowed to hunt? or how her trades were good #these are the little ways 12 can shows Katniss they love her. but again Katniss doesn't see this and YES its because she had ptsd before the #hunger games as well. i swear some of you make it seem like d12 was all living a life of luxury and glaring down at Katniss.#other things that show Katniss is in hight standing with at least her people of d12 is her dad was known enough through d12 for peeta dad to #comment on his singing along with his commenting on her mom. also her mom is a healer in the community. yeah her parents arnt the top but #of d12 but they are/were definitely high staning in the Seam.

Was reading Twincognito on AO3 when I stumbled across this gem again:

Now I really want to read a story where Bruce adopts Danny post Meta trafficking and is being his usual emotionally constipated self. His kids keep getting mad at him because he's treating their new meta brother who was trafficked poorly (generally being stilted in conversation with him, walking away hurriedly mid-conversation, avoiding Danny when he's feeling really awkward, etc). They think Bruce is discriminating against Danny for being a civilian, meta, dealer's pick, but really it's just Bruce being horribly socially awkward. Danny knows this because of ghost empathy and find the whole thing hilarious. The whole thing comes to a head with the Bat Kids staging an intervention in the Bat Cave.

I've drawn him a couple of times, just really little/in the background. but I should draw him more, I love this guy a lot! I have many, many thoughts about him and the way he parallels Silver...and also I think it is extremely funny that his ghost is stuck in a ring. especially considering where that ring has been for the last 16-ish years.

It's always, like, mildly annoying when people see a het trans couple and go "all that work just to be straight?" like... one, you don't know if they're straight and two, trans people don't owe you a queer sexuality to "make up" for the fact we're trans. Transhet people aren't a subtype of trans people, they're members of the trans community, and the queer one if they so desire!

The Lamb is malicious in a funny way and the Goat is funny in a malicious way. No, I will not elaborate.

Anyway, everyone give thanks to the Lamb for interrupting what was sure to be a very boring and patronizing PSA from their grouchy cat hubby. Truly, they are doing God's work. Granted, the Lamb canonically is God now, so, uh. Mostly they're just doing their own work.

Speaking of their grouchy cat hubby, yes this is absolutely still Narilamb, Narinder is 100% into his goofy-ass spouse always no matter what and we all know it, he just wasn't expecting his brand new adopted kid to share the same single goofy-ass brain cell as the Lamb. :)
