Medieval knight!Jason Todd who's a long-lost son of the Wayne earldom. He took up a crusade when he was younger but was believed to be dead. Only to reveal himself several years later during the swordsmanship tournament hosted by Wayne family. Just as Dick was lying in the sand coughing up blood next to his discarded sword, his unknown challenger took off his scarlet helmet and the entire court erupted in chaos.
That was years ago now. Since then, Sir Todd made amends with his family, but they are by no means close. Jason managed to gain a title and a fief on his own, independent of his family and he takes no small pride in that. These days he and his merry group of loyal warriors take up mercenary work and guardianship if the person has enough coin.
When the local baron hired him to be a personal guard for his daughter, Jason was sure that would be an easy job for a good amount of gold. The red knight soon found out that being your bodyguard is not as easy as he thought. You were quite the escape artist. Whenever a banquet or an audience was too boring for your liking, you simply vanished, and Jason had to search for you high and low to drag you back. It made him grind his jaw and caused his temper to flare more than once.
You were thrilled and appalled that someone spoke to you so crassly and brazenly. Other soldiers your father assigned to you treated you with the utmost respect and gave up after a few months. Not the red knight. He proved himself to be just as stubborn as you, if not more. At this point, it wasn't about money anymore. He just couldn't stand the thought of some spoiled daughter of a noble getting the better of him. Jason had no qualms about throwing you over his shoulder and carrying you back to the castle, while the plate of his armor dug uncomfortably into your stomach.
After six months of this, Jason was fed up with your nonsense and was ready to collect his gold and disappear for good. You were hiding from the baroness, some nonsense about dress fitting or a dance lesson. Jason was just returning from the training grounds when he saw you sitting on the ground near the barn, playing with a fresh litter of kittens. You knew the cat and the kittens well, and judging how other animals treated you it wasn't your first time there. You met his gaze and winked at him, placing a finger to your lips. Your first shared secret.
After that day, your personal guard Jason somehow became your partner in crime. He looked the other way sometimes or followed in a safe distance. You fascinated him, and somehow, before he even knew it, he started to fall for you. He wanted to deny it. Jason reminded himself time and time again why it was a horrible idea. However, he couldn't keep himself from falling more and more for you.
Another day, another one of your daring escapes. This time was, different, though. You took some of your belongings and your horse while leaving a letter to say your goodbyes. Jason did not care for exploring the feelings of absolute horror that grasped his heart at the thought of you disappearing from his life. He immediately set out to search for you. You couldn't escape too far and he knew where to go. He knew you better than anyone.
When he caught up with you, you were residing in a tavern in a small cozy village near the edge of your father's land. You were always annoyed and scathing whenever he came to bring you back home, but this time, you were just sad, almost tearful. Jason demanded an explanation for your unusual disappearance, and the one he received almost made him shatter the pitcher in his hand. The courting season was swiftly approaching.
He knew of your fear and unwillingness to get pawned off for alliance and title. He was also aware that your parents were adamant in marrying you off before grow out of marrigable age.
Which is why your loyal guardian made you an offer. You stay in the village for its upcoming festival, relishing in last days of freedom without responsibility, before returning home. This offer served not only you, but Jason as well. He wanted to revel in your presence before returning to your old life where he was the knight and you were the noble.
In hinsight, he should've realized that was a mistake, because in these last few days he became aware of how smitten he'd become. It was all too easy to forget his duties when you were pretending to be a simple village girl.
You peroused the stalls, gawking at everything you saw and chatting his ear off. He watched you trying to eat the commoner food with your bare hands, hilariously failing. When they arrived in the square where the dance was held, you haven't hesitated before grabbing his hand and pulling him for a dance. Jason wanted to protest, but your bright smile convinced him. He twirled you amongst the townsfolk before he noticed familiar faces heading your way. The baron's soldiers, no doubt they were looking for you.
Quicker than you could react, Jason pulled you into a darkened corner, covering your body with his, pressing your lips together. He kissed you until he knew the guards were gone. He pulled away to apologize but before he could say anything you grabbed him by the lapels of his cloak and pressed your lips together again. You kissed him with sweetness and desperation that stole breath from his lungs, and Jason had no choice but to melt into you. He wrapped his arms around you, pressing you impossibly close to him, your hands slipped from his cheeks to his hair.
He indulged little longer before letting voice of reason win, pulling away. Jason reminded you that you shouldn't be doing this, reminded you of your respective postitions. You didn't listened, instead, you uttered words Jason both wished and dreaded to hear.
You loved him.
He asked of you to never say these words to him again, and without another word he took your hand and led you back home as he tried to ignore your quiet sobs.
Despite your promises, he catches you trying to climb out over one of the garden walls during your courting ball. Jason wanted to strangle you, not that he enjoyed watching you dance with all those idiot nobles while all he wanted to do was to take you and carry you somewhere where there only be the two of you. This can't go on much longer, he has to end things tonight. Jason takes on a quest, to slay creatures in the southern forest. Surely you'll understand eventually...that the distance is good for both of you.
Months go by, and the pain the red knight felt when leaving you felt bearable. The other soldiers in his unit were curious as to why the infamous red knight left such prestigious position. Some speculated it was because the position was too peaceful and the dead son of Wayne was hungry for blood. If only they knew the true reason he left, but it was for the better. No one needs to know. One day, a messenger arrived, bearing a letter that stated there was an attack on the baron's family. The baron and his wife were badly injured and you were missing.
How was this possible?! You were supposed to be safe here! Without missing even a single second, Jason rode his horse tirelessly to the city. He will find you, and whoever took you will pay for every scratch he finds on you with their life. When he rescues you from your kidnappers, you're barely conscious. Gently, he pics up your weakened body and carefully carries you over the dead bodies lying everywhere. When he brings you back home, as he always done, he is adamant to never leave your side, no matter what takes. With heart full of determination, he asks, no, demands your hand in marriage. His name, his fief, his sword and his hearth, all of it is yours.
The baron is wise enough to give Sir Jason his blessings. After all, who's better for his daughter than a man who is able to set the world ablaze to safe her?

your boyfriend has been acting weird lately (various yandere characters x gn reader) (ANGSTOBER DAY 2)
"babe are you-"
"can you quit talking? seriously, you're so damn annoying."
"...i only wanted to ask whether you were hungry..."
you stare at your boyfriend, lips pursed as he continues to type away on his phone. he's been like this for three weeks now. getting mad at you for no reason, cursing at you... did you do something wrong?
all you ever wanted was to be a good significant other and he's acting like he's on his period or something! jesus, can't he be a little bit more mature too?! picking fights with you for no reason, making a big fuss over nothing... and not even telling you why?!
...
you know what?
you had it with him.
"hey, what's your problem huh?! why are you so edgy nowadays huh? did i do something wrong?!"
your once loving boyfriend stares at you, eyes and mouth wide at your sudden outburst. he takes a moment to compose himself, eyebrows furrowing the second he thinks things through.
"god you're so damn stupid. I've been repeatedly telling you, haven't i? i hate you. what can't you understand?! this is why I'm always getting mad, damnit!"
you scoff at him, arms folded in front of your chest as you try to keep your cool... only for your anger to get the better of you, resulting in a screaming festival between you and your boyfriend.
"hate me? you can't expect me to believe that. not when you were literally obsessed with me up till three weeks ago?!"
"i-"
"you used to threaten people just for looking at me! you even tried to kill someone because they asked for my number! and now you want me to believe that you hate me? stop with your bullshit."
".. actually-"
"oh. are you seeing someone else? is that what this is? you're trying to make me break up with you, is that it?"
"n-... you know what? yeah, yeah it is. i want to break up with you. I've found someone else that i love more than you."
your boyfriend states, eyes dead as he stares straight at you. he breathes calmly, as if he weren't affected by this at all. meanwhile, your heart felt as though it had shattered into many tiny pieces. tears fell from your eyes, unable to be held back any longer as you broke down, falling to your knees as the male just stares at you stoicly.
"let's never see each other again."
he mumbles, turning on his heel, swiftly leaving you alone to wallow in your sadness in the once lively apartment. shit... you hadn't expected things to end like this.
"he's a fucking jerk..."
you think through your tears, vision blurry as you clutch your chest. you really loved him and he just?? left?? how could he be so heartless?
if he didn't love you he could've just said something about it. he didn't have to be so mean and hurt your feelings before finally bringing up another person! god damnit, why did you have to fall for such a person?!
you cried, wailing as you cursed your now ex-boyfriend.
"fuck! i hate you! i hate you so much! i hope i never see you again! just disappear from my life! you just left me to die here! stupid ex-boyfriend! i hate giving you my love!"
what you didn't know however, was that your 'heartless' boyfriend had stood outside your door, frowning at your every word, regretting everything he had done up until that moment. because he had loved you too. truly.
he loved you so damn much that he wanted to tear out his hair every single time he was mean to you. he wanted to tell you that he didn't mean any single one of those hurtful words. he wanted to cry and beg for your forgiveness every single time he did anything hurtful to you.
but it was for your own good. it was to keep you safe. and if he needed to hurt you to keep you safe, he'd do it. because he loved you too much to see someone else hurt you.
and being with him meant that there was always a risk of you getting hurt. so how could he allow that to happen when it could be prevented? how could he let his selfish feelings get in the way when you were such a precious little thing? sure, he loves you and he'll do anything in his power to ensure your safety but what if he can't protect you one day?
what if one day you just... get used against him? he's a dangerous man and has a lot of enemies. surely they'll find out that you're his weakness. of course he has gotten rid of anyone who might harm you now but who's to say that there won't be more in the future?
which is why he has to severe all ties with you now. he can't risk it. because he may be strong, but he may not be strong enough for whoever may come in the future. that's why he's been doing what he's been doing-making you hate him so that it hurts less when he decides that it's time to leave. he assumes that it's working wonderfully, after all you've never once noticed his puffy eyes in the morning.
"at least... they'll be safe now."
and disappear he will, for he has too many regrets welling up in the depths of his soul from what he did to you. he'll make sure to never come across you again, instead lurking in your shadow, observing you from afar.
a star like you need not be dirtied by his presence anymore.

Spencer’s hand kept mine warm as we walked along a snow-covered path in the park. Seeing everything covered in a soft, white layer really got me in a festive mood, excited to have someone to spend the holidays with this year.
“So, Christmas is in a few days. Do you have any plans?” I wondered while gently squeezing his hand.
He turned his head to find my eyes as he cooed, “I was hoping to spend it with you.”
“I would really like that.”
He smiled at me for a brief moment before he averted his eyes to look at the snow beneath his feet. After taking a deep breath, he asked, “Can I tell you something?”
“Anything.”
Spencer stopped his movements to be able to fully look at me while he said, “Growing up in the desert with a sick mom, Christmas always felt like any other day to me. I never understood what people meant when they talked about how magical this time of year is. That was until I met you. I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with you.”
I placed my arms around his neck to find his lips in a chaste kiss before whispering, “I love you.”
His breath felt hot against my face when he breathed, “I love you, too.”
It was then that I decided to make it my mission to show him how magical Christmas could be. There was so much about this time of year that he probably never got to experience and I was adamant to change that.
“Let’s make snow angels!” I chirped and was met with a surprised look.
“What?”
Without further explanation I grabbed his hand and pulled him into the ground with me. He watched my motions for a moment before he lay down in the snow himself, mirroring what I was doing. We both couldn’t hold back the fit of laughter falling from our lips.
When we got up from the ground, we took a moment to admire two perfect snow angels before rushing back to my apartment. Spencer’s cheeks were rosy when we got back into the comfort of my home, signaling that he was just as cold as I was.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the cold,” he muttered as he took off his damp coat.
“I know a way to warm you up,” I told him. “Why don’t you take a blanket and wait for me on the couch.”
When I returned to him with a mug of hot cocoa, he raised his eyebrows and chuckled, “I thought you had had something else in mind.”
“Naughty boy!” I laughed as I sat down beside him. “Don’t you know that Santa only brings presents to good boys?”
He just shrugged as he took the mug and said, “I’m okay with that, I already have everything I could wish for.”
I placed a soft kiss on his cheek before I turned on the TV to put on the corniest Christmas romcom I could find.
“Snow angels - check! Next on my agenda to experience the Christmas spirit are hot cocoa and terrible Christmas movies,” I announced.
Spencer playfully rolled his eyes but I knew that he was enjoying my enthusiasm. He took the blanket to place it over the both of us before wrapping one arm around me to keep me close to him.
When a scene of the main characters decorating a Christmas tree came on, I decided that we should do that, too. “We should get a Christmas tree for your apartment,” I let him know. “We could decorate it with purple ornaments.”
“That sounds really nice.”
I adjusted my position inside his arms until I could fully look at him to tell him, “And we need to bake cookies! I have a recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies you’ll ever taste.”
“Cookies sound great-,” Spencer agreed before finding my lips to mumble against them, “- but I’d rather have you right now.”
The movie playing in the background was quickly forgotten as we deepened our kiss. His lips felt soft and demanding at the same time and when his tongue met mine it was as if we melted into one another. It only took a few moments until I noticed a familiar warmth rushing through my body, making me eager to feel more of him. My hand wandered to the hem of his sweater, dipping beneath it to feel the heat of his skin.
“Are you still cold?” I breathed into the kiss.
“No.”
I broke the kiss to smirk at him as I purred, “Good. That means you can take your sweater off.”
Spencer chuckled at my words but did as I said. Slowly we helped each other shed each layer of clothing until there was nothing left to separate our bodies as we lay beside one another on the couch.
“You’re so beautiful,” he purred as he kissed down my neck.
His hands began exploring the curves of my breasts and I felt him smiling against my skin when I answered his touches with the sounds of my pleasure. His fingertips were soon replaced by his lips as he kissed every inch of my skin within reach. Gently, he pushed apart my thighs and lay down between them before he began nipping and licking along my inner thighs.
I knew that I was dripping with desire at this point but Spencer took his time to tease me. I was sure he didn’t do it on purpose. It wasn’t the first time that he lost track of time worshipping me, his eyes always filled with wonder when he kissed along all the curves and dips my body had to offer.
“Please…,” I finally whimpered. “I need you.”
It was as if my words had snapped him out of a trance. He mumbled, “Sorry,” against my thigh before his mouth finally focussed on my center. My hands flew to his head, my fingers intertwining with his curls as he brought me closer to my breaking point. I dared to look down at him and moaned at the sight of half of his face buried between my thighs. It looked downright sinful.
It took just a few more moments of his skillful motions until I entered a state of pure bliss. Spencer’s hands grabbed my hips to keep me steady as he guided me through my high. When my body began relaxing underneath him, he placed a few more soft kisses against my folds before finding his home inside my arms.
I was quick to reach down to find his hardness, making him shudder at the sudden touch. My fingers wrapped around him and began moving just the way I knew he liked. My motions were immediately rewarded by his sighs and groans. When I let my thumb brush over his leaking tip, he whined my name against my neck.
“Tell me what you want, love,” I cooed as I kept stroking him.
“I–,” he whimpered as he locked eyes with me. “I… wanna be inside you. Please.”
“I’m all yours, Spencer.”
It took him a few seconds to process my words. The thought that I had the ability to make the smartest and most eloquent man I knew forget everything else but me made me smile. He repositioned himself until he was kneeling between my legs, taking a moment to let his eyes wander over my body.
“I’m so lucky,” he purred as he leaned over me. “So lucky to have you.”
I reached between our bodies to guide him to my entrance. He took his time entering my body, a sigh falling from his lips with every inch that disappeared inside me. When he was fully inside me, he leaned down to kiss me. My arms wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him even closer against me until there was no distance to be found between us.
Slowly we began moving, our hips grinding against one another in perfect synchronicity. We got lost inside each other’s arms. As our bodies merched there was no way of telling where my body ended and his began. Together we chased the sweet relief with heavy breaths and accelerated motions until we fell over the edge together.
Each of the pulses of my walls around him was answered with him throbbing inside me, sharing his warmth with me until he had nothing left to give. He collapsed into my arms and buried his face into the crook of my neck as he tried to even out his breathing. Our bodies stayed connected for as long as possible but we had to let go of each other eventually.
After cleaning up I found my home inside Spencer’s arms, my head resting on his chest. His heart was still beating faster than usual but it slowed down after a few more moments.
“I can’t wait to spend Christmas with you,” he whispered. “And every holiday after that.”

Heyy if your dark hours are still open…👀👀 would you mind sharing your thoughts about yandere Ateez concubine harem…? Or perhaps any harem that you can think of because I’m very much into this topic🤭🤭🤭
You know what? Today I wanted to be affectionate with you, damn bunnies, and spoil you with tenderness and sweets, but you just provoked my dark side with all these requests, didn't you?
So change of plan, bunnies; we're going down the dark and rough road. I love yandere's concubines, Ateez. God, can we think of anything more seductive and more dangerous than that? From now on, you should send me such requests more often, bunnies. Feed this demon within me.
You entered the palace as the wife of the new emperor. His fourth wife. His glittering war trophy.
When war came, your world was changed beyond recognition. Flames and ashes consumed the luxury and grandeur of the palaces, and the jewels turned to dust, leaving only you, the Ice Princess of the Northern Mountains.
Your life was made of crystal and your heart was made of ice stronger than diamonds, and it was this cold and lunar beauty that caused you to be forcibly married.
Yes, you may have entered the palace as the Emperor's wife. But you were a nobody within the high walls of the palace, just a sad reflection of past your greatness.
Everyone knew that the Emperor had a large harem, not counting the three older wives, but what really surprised you was that it was not only made up of girls, but of young men as well. There were eight of them. Each one more beautiful than the last, each one unique and unrepeatable.
Until one fateful night, you had never met them or seen them in person. It was a lunar festival, and you were its queen. Dressed in silk and the finest translucent tulle, as if kissed by the moon goddess herself, you sparkled and attracted the attention of everyone around you. Everybody, but not your husband. He didn't even look at you, brushed you aside as if you were an annoying mosquito, and sent you off to talk and smile at the guests while he went off to fuck another beautiful concubine.
And then, for the first time in your life, you had a meeting with the concubines of his other harem. And your world was turned upside down for the second time in your life.

It was love at first sight, a fire that burned through his veins and poisoned his mind. And it was all because of you. It was your fault that Wooyoung couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, couldn't laugh, and couldn't live. All of a sudden, his whole world was reduced to you and your heavenly, icy beauty. He passionately wanted to melt that ice, make you beg, squirm, and moan as he fucked you unconscious and painfully, filling you with his sperm and marking you as his property.
The only thing Wooyoung ever had in his life was his beauty. He grew up in poverty, living on scraps of food and the small amount of money he was able to pick up from the dirt. That is, until the day the current emperor, who was still a prince at the time, came upon him in one of the alleys, on the run from his guards. Wooyoung's dark fox eyes captivated him at once, and as if he had fallen under his spell, the emperor brought him back to the palace to be his concubine.
Wooyoung was a greedy concubine; there was always something that was not enough for him. He wanted to swim in luxury, to drown in gold and silk, to have diamonds, and to own the whole damn world. The best should be his, and so it was; the emperor gave him everything and more that Wooyoung had a desire for. And now you were in his sights. He wanted you so much that it ate him up from within and almost drove him mad, greedily and viciously, in the most horrible way in the world.
Yes, Wooyoung was greedy, and if he had to kill the Emperor to get you, he wasn't going to think twice about doing it.

One look at you could bring him to his knees. He would crawl to you like a pet if you commanded him to, and that desire was stronger than the hatred he felt for the whole of the world. You could tame his wild temper, and Mingi would want nothing more than for you to straddle him and ride his cock day and night, tearing the skin from his back and shoulders, choking him, and biting him until his will was broken. Mingi was uncontrollable and capricious, passion and fire raging in him, burning everything in his path, but your element was ice, burning him harder than hell itself.
Once upon a time, Mingi was a warrior, one of the great generals of his country, until the war came and destroyed his entire life. It took everything from him—his will, his family, his home. Yes, the war had taken everything from him except for the poisonous rage and the dark, vicious passion that was boiling in his veins. He was brought to the palace in chains like a slave, and that very night the Emperor took him by force and made him one of his concubines. This only made him bitterer.
Mingi was venomous and aggressive, biting and scratching until he bled, but you, you did something to him—you forced him into submission by your very presence, without him even knowing it. The wild, unbridled storm inside of him became the icy surface of the lake, soothing and healing. And Mingi wanted peace. He wanted the touch of your icy hands on his heated skin and cold kisses on his lips. He wanted you.
What is passion if not a flame that is a destroyer of all things on its way to its goal? And Mingi was full of fire to burn this damn palace to the ground to take possession of you.

He was sin clothed in a human body, debauchery and lust embodied in an image of heavenly beauty. The whole of Seonghwa's life had been nothing more than a constant stream of sex and an endless series of lovers. He could not get rid of this feeling; it was like frost on his skin. This constant, painful need was scratching him from the inside out. But when he saw you, all his thoughts were focused on you—on your pure, untouched skin that he wanted to lick and bite, on your slim waist that he wanted to squeeze as he fucked you continuously. On those red, seductive lips that would be simply amazing when wrapped around his dick. It was you he wanted, and for the first time in his life, Seonghwa wanted you to be the one. He didn't want anyone else, only you.
Before he entered the palace, he was one of the most sought-after whores in the brothel, famous for his devilish beauty and his languid, cat-like gaze. There was a line of people waiting for him, and Seonghwa was more than happy to accept them all. He was insatiable, wanting to fuck anywhere and anytime, trying the most sinful and unusual things. He was a real slut. But when the emperor heard about Seonghwa and visited his brothel one day, everything changed. Suddenly, he was no longer just a whore; he became Imeretar's concubine.
Seonghwa's hunger could not be quenched, and one partner would never be able to cope with it. But here you are, pure and radiant like an angel, beckoning him with your immaculate beauty. You were stronger than his dark, insatiable demon of lust. He wanted to corrupt you, to make you like him, and to make you dependent on him, just as he had become dependent on thinking about you.
It is said that whores don't know how to love, but they know how to desire. And there was enough darkness in Seonghwa to consume and destroy the world; to possess your purity and chastity. Then let the world be plunged into darkness until you are alone with him.

Yeosang had never been interested in anything at all. The world was too boring and dangerous for him. He could never care less about it. If he could, he would stay safe and comfortable in his bed for the rest of his life. You were different—distant and cold, but with an inexplicable thirst to live. You wanted to see all the things around you, to experience the cultures and the art. The world was interesting to you, and that was a source of irritation to Yeosang.
Everything about you was fragile and exquisite, and the fact that you didn't see it was what made Yeosang so angry. Don't you see, little butterfly, the world is terrible and dangerous. You would be much better off with him in his bed, far away from anything that could harm you in any way. Perhaps you would finally understand that you shouldn't run away from the safety and comfort of his bed if he were to break you. If that helped, Yeosang would want to destroy you and fuck your little curious brain until you thought only of him. He would spend hours warming you with his dick, days kissing your cold lips, and smothering you with his attention and love.
Yeosang was always aware that one day he would be part of the emperor's household. He had been prepared for this since he was a child, pampered and protected from the whole world, so that there would not be a trace of dirt on his silky, snow-white skin. Always waiting for the Emperor to visit his chambers and warm his soft bed, albeit temporarily. Yeosang almost never left his room, but like all concubines, he had to attend the Moon Festival. And that's when he saw his fragile butterfly. And like everything beautiful in this world, you were too easy to break. Yeosang wanted to protect you, hide you between his sheets, and shower you with care.
Yes, beautiful things broke easily, sometimes too easily—delicate butterfly wings, flower petals, crystal jewelry. But Yeosang wanted to see how the most beautiful thing in the world—human life—broke.

He wanted to eat you alive. Sinking his teeth into you and never letting you go, you awakened in him this wild, all-consuming hunger that he could not satisfy with anything else. You were the most delicious dish of all, and your taste was his only desire. San had always been a little insatiable, wanting more attention, wanting to love more, wanting to more sex, wanting everything this world had to offer him. It was never enough. You walked past him without even looking in his direction, the trail of your perfume settling on his skin and seeping into his body, poisoning him as you went. He wanted you to pay attention to him, to smile at him, to love him, to touch him. Oh, he would never let you go, he would fill you with his cum over and over again, and it wouldn't be enough for his taste. If he could, his dick would be in your pretty pussy all the time, so warm and delicious. He was in desperate need of you, he was hungry for you, and this hunger was all-encompassing.
Ever since he was a child, San had had a voracious appetite, always in need of a bigger and sweeter bite to temporarily fill the emptiness inside him that was growing with him. He had everything he could ever wish for; he had grown up in a loving and wealthy family with titles, but the dark hunger that plagued him was terrible. No matter what it was, he was always in need of more. So one day, when the emperor asked if he wanted to join his harem, San didn't hesitate to accept, but the hunger didn't go away.
You were the most delicious forbidden fruit of them all, and San was desperate to sink his teeth into you. He could almost feel the heavenly sweetness of you on his tongue, and it was driving him wild.
The sky could crash and burn all around him, and he wouldn't care, as long as you could fill him up and satisfy him.

There was no one in this world who could ever be like him. There was no one like Hongjoong. There was no limit to his pride and his greatness, and any praise You never praised him, you never sought his attention, and you were never enchanted by his sharp mind, his sweet voice, or his beauty, which could only be rivalled by the devil himself. And Hongjoong hated it. He hated how much he wanted your attention and your love. He wanted you to worship him, idolise him, and devote your whole life to him. He had to have you in all ways, even if those ways were darker than the night itself.Hongjoong wanted to see you in his golden bed, stretched out on the silk, while he was ravaging your body. He wanted to hear the endless moaning of his name as his cock tore apart the little cunt that was yours. He was in need of it, so much so that his whole body ached.
Hongjoong was a trophy of war, just like you. He was a real prince, who was supposed to be a king one day. His ego knew no bounds, and he was cruel and daring. Of course, the whole of the palace was conquered by the magnificent prince dressed in gold - all of them, except for you.
Yes, Hongjoong was a true prince, and one day he would overthrow the emperor and take his rightful throne, and like every emperor, he had to have his empress. You may not see him now, but the day will come when Hongjoong will be the only sunshine that illuminates your life. And he couldn't wait for it.

Yunho has never been the victim of jealousy. He has always been the recipient of praise and adoration, a constant reminder of how much he is loved. Yunho had no idea how jealousy could be. Or so he thought, at least.
That night, when he saw you in the light of the moon, he had hatred for the whole damn world. How dare he look at what belonged to him? He envied all those who could speak to you so freely; he envied all those who could pronounce your name; he envied his emperor, who did not appreciate your beauty and who humiliated you. Damn it, Yunho was jealous of the very air you were breathing. He desperately wanted to be him—to live inside you and melt into your skin. He wanted to melt into you without a trace. He would have loved to take you to his bed, to kiss every inch of your skin, to fuck you long and slow, and to shower you with compliments and praise. He would like to have you in his arms all the time, writhing and moaning with desire and need. For him, you are the only thing he needs in his life.
Yunho used to be just a servant in the palace. But he caught the Emperor's eye. That very night, he entered the emperor's chambers as his new concubine. Yunho knew about the others; he knew that he was not the only one, but that never bothered him; he was able to share the attention of the emperor. Except you. You were his own, and even the world was not worthy of seeing you.
It would be so easy to have the entire palace blinded, so that no one else but Yunho would have to see your celestial beauty.
Tumblr media
Jongho was a man too proud for his own good. In his mind, it was beneath his dignity to pay attention to others and smile sweetly at them. Jongho was the spoiled, arrogant son of one of the most important palace officials, and when his father had the chance to get close to the emperor, he naturally gave him to the harem. But even so, he still considered himself to be better than everyone else, even Hongjoong, who was a prince in his own right.
Jongho was the one who first saw you, quite by chance, when he visited his father on the night you were appointed as the emperor's fourth wife. The Emperor was a real fool not to see how brilliant and magnificent you were—a real crown jewel. You were a symbol of power, strength, and might, an enslaved princess of a once great country, and a black flame of desire flared up in Jongho—he wanted to own you completely.
He wanted you for himself—your thoughts, your will, your body, and your life. He wanted you to sit by his side, to be covered with jewels, and to bear his children. It was easy for him to imagine his hand wrapped around your fragile throat as he fucked you into the mattress, you begging and moaning for him, wanting to be filled with his cum.
Fueled by his selfish desires, his fixation on you became increasingly harmful and dangerous.
Out of all the trophies in the world, there was nothing that was more attractive to Jongho than you. And on the way to what he wanted, murder was never a serious matter for him.

matchmaker to the rescue!
summary: nahida helps you and your crush, one of sumeru’s luckiest men, get together
masterlist
Tumblr media
pairings (separate): tighnari, cyno, and alhaitham x reader
reader info: uses gender neutral pronouns, is a sumeru citizen, reader is slightly insecure, in some parts reader works as at the akadeymia (alhaitham and cyno), and reader is not traveler
word count: 575 words per character’s section (2 mins~ each)
genre: romance, matchmaking, mutual pining
format: drabbles
warnings: self-doubt/insecure thoughts implied for reader but not described
a/n: i’m trying something new with the drabble formats!!!!!! also omg hi!!! (also,,, kinda wanna make this a series with all the littles, hehe,,, would anyone wanna see that...?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s so obvious that tighnari likes you.
he is all smiles and sass whenever he’s with you, witty quips rolling off his tongue with ease in your presence. tighnari’s lips pull into a grin when you snap back at him with something equally as witty, always making him laugh into his hand. and, despite how much he tries to still it, his tail wags wildly when you laugh. he just thinks the sound of your laughter is precious, alright?
now, to any passer by, it’s so painfully obvious that he likes you. why else would he be taking trips into sumeru city everyday if not only to see you? cyno teases him all the time when he sees you two together, always making flirty gestures and a knowing look whenever you look away. and even collei, sweet and oblivious, asks tighnari about it. often things like why his tail was wagging so hard. or even why his ears perk up like that at just the mere mention of your name. the poor forest ranger can barely handle it, clutching onto his face or ears as his friends tease him.
was it really that obvious? he asked himself at night, hugging his pillow tightly. if cyno and collei know... then wouldn’t they know, too? tighnari clutches his pillow tighter, a pang of sadness hitting his heart.
then why haven’t they said anything about it?
unfortunately for tighnari, you are as completely oblivious to his feelings as he is to yours. it’s not at all that you don’t like him, though! you just... can be a little dense sometimes, and mistaking your enjoyment of being with him as purely platonic. and vise versa.
and nahida sees this as she strolls the streets of sumeru. she accidentally hears tighnari’s racing thoughts of overanalyzation of his words, how he holds himself, of tighnari in general when he is around you. and when she looks over to you, nahida is sad to hear many thoughts of self doubt.
sure, she had many projects waiting back for her in the akademiya. but surely something as trivial as getting you and tighnari together wouldn’t be too much?
and sure enough, it isn’t!
sending dreams to both you and tighnari helps bring you two closer together. sure, tighnari ends up waking up incredibly flustered after each one. even if it was just about you two hugging, tighnari using you as a pillow as he sleeps, or whatever simple and fluffy thing that entered his dreams. it definitely affects how he sees you, as he is incredibly nervous and awkward around you. he can’t even look you in the eyes now!
for a moment, nahida worries that she’s interfered too much. however, she notices how you, albeit shyly and hesitantly, begin to make some moves on tighnari. complimenting the small things he does, like how lovely his eyes look in the late evening as the sun sets. or how you teased him for how much his tail wagged whenever you said something kind. and the dendro archon rejoices when you ask him out to eat, even if it’s just a “simple dinner between friends.” she knows what you’re doing, and she’s quite proud.
some time later when it’s announced that the two of you finally started dating, nahida is in great spirits. she’s much more talkative and bubbly as she has meetings with the akademiya scholars, almost tempting her to throw a festival of love in celebration of your and tighnari. that is until she remembers that love is the tsaritsa’s domain. oh well.
Tumblr media
cyno is amazing at keepings his feelings from you hidden.
you’re a scholar at the akademiya, one that is often visited by the general mahamantra on the dendro archon’s behalf. whenever you two talk, he keeps his replies curt. he nods along to whatever you’re saying, sometimes interjecting something half-heartedly to the conversation, with a dazed look in his amber eyes. it worries you that you’re boring the general mahamantra, but cyno reassures you that he’s not. he’s just tired, that’s all.
so why does he always act tired? you think.
little do you know, cyno does like spending time with you. he enjoys visiting you everyday, whether or not nahida asks him to. he loves the little amounts of knowledge you share on a topic when he asks you. and he does like you, because how could he not? like, seriously? you’re you, one of the most talented, amazing, downright precious, attractive, and intelligent person he’s ever met. why would he not like you?
however, with his title, cyno makes a lot of enemies. it’s best for him not to involve you in any sort of danger. even if it’s a matter of your safety, it pains cyno so much when he sees your hurt expression when he pretends to disregard whatever you just said. he’s internally screaming at himself, desperately wishing he could just grab you and hug you so tightly that the hurt and pain he’s caused is squeezed out of you.
just as he thinks that, however, the sumeru archon accidentally pears into his thoughts when she passes you two by in the akademiya. she’s a little shocked that cyno felt that way about you, and even more shocked when she hears your cruel thoughts about yourself, going on and on about how cyno would never like someone like you. nahida smacks herself so hard on the head that it alerts cyno, which lets him leave swiftly to take care of the dendro archon.
but nahida doesn’t stop thinking about the two of you together, even whilst she’s in the middle of meetings or while she’s talking with cyno himself.
how could two people like each other so much but don’t know it? she asks herself.
finally, after enough pondering, nahida begins to plant the seed of her elaborate plan to get you two together. hopefully.
first, it starts with mentioning your name to cyno as he escorts her on a walk throughout sumeru city. she’s internally delighted to see a subtle smile form on his lips at the mere mention of your name, even if it disappears soon after he gives a vague description of you. but after enough prodding, nahida gets a genuine compliment about you from him. she smiles at the general mahamantra, and cyno is left wondering what is so amusing to her.
then, she sends sweet dreams to cyno of you. sweet days spent together, making breakfast for you while you’re still in bed, waking you up with a sweet kiss and an even sweeter greeting. making you laugh, or sometimes groan, at all the ridiculous jokes cyno has to offer. enough sweet moments with you that makes him wake up, craving for more of that sweetness, craving for your presence in his life once more.
eventually, cyno begins to lower his guard and warm up to you. it’s definitely something to grow used to, as you first thought it was all some cruel prank at your expanse. but once you realize that cyno’s nods and interjections in your conversations were now genuine and sweet, you began to warm up to him, too.
nahida was delighted when she saw you and cyno together, casually holding each other’s hands as you strolled through the marketplace. she’ll make sure to offer her congratulations to cyno later, right after she congratulates herself for such a success.
Tumblr media
haitham acts so casual and friendly that you would never think he’d like you back in that way.
he leans over the desk that separates you two, listening intently to whatever you’re talking about. although, his gaze does glaze over a few times and his eyes drop down more than once. you falter, slightly, but haitham is very quick to reassure you to continue, perking up and looking at you with genuine interest as a very subtle blush takes over his face.
please tell me they didn’t see me checking them out, haitham prayed, silently.
haitham thinks his crush on you is so obvious that he does everything in his power to not let anyone know, yourself included. and it’s not at all that haitham is ashamed of liking you. if anything, haitham wants nothing more than to show all of teyvat that he cares for you! he’s truly, madly, and deeply in love with you. however, he’s a little embarrassed at how quickly he fell for you. what if he comes on too strong and scares you away? what if you don’t feel the same way? what if you hate him and he didn’t realize it?
so, haitham wants to give himself some time before he asks you out, however long that may be.
and yet, haitham’s so well thought out facade is easily found out by nahida. all she needed to do was look at how earnest haitham looked at you as you two browsed the shelves of the akademiya’s library. but, just to make sure, nahida let your and haitham’s thoughts grace her. and she was delighted to discover that you both truly did care about each other, even letting out a small giggle. however, at the pace you two were going, haitham probably wouldn’t have asked you out until the hairs on his head were... greyer.
so, nahida sends some dreams haitham’s way.
he gets these tortuously sweet dreams about you. watching you over the top of his book as you read in the same room as him, more than content with just coexisting with him in the same space. sharing space with you in general, whether that be in the kitchen making food or laying down together on the couch. his personal space is now your personal space too, and haitham is more than content with that fact.
but when he wakes up, haitham is quite sad to find out it had all been a dream. a part of him craves for those moments so badly that he begins to plan out a confession.
nahida tries not to act too happy when she hears news of the scribe and you getting together. internally, she’s overjoyed and can’t wait to see your romance blossom further. however, externally, she gives haitham a smile whenever she sees you walking him to work, holding onto his hand as you wish him well at the akademiya.
maybe the dendro archon should try match making more often.

✹ ✶ 𖧷 ✶✹
The day had dawned with a heavy weariness.
You’d all slept in late, dragging yourselves out of bed only as the sun climbed high. The last day of Summit had truly taken everything from you, leaving you sore, hungover, and sad that it was over.  Now, sprawled by the pool of the house, the world outside felt like a distant blur.
Feyre and the boys had been in the pool for a few hours now. You and Mor remained on the lounge chairs, too hungover and sore to join in, opting to gossip with each other and go over moments you’d missed at Summit. But she’d slipped away a few minutes ago to fetch more drinks, leaving you alone with your swirling thoughts.
Despite your exhaustion, your mind seemed relentless, turning over thoughts that had been too quiet before. You barely noticed Feyre emerging from the pool and settling on the chair beside you, her navy blue towel with star prints spreading beneath her. The weight of her gaze on you made you shift slightly. You offered her a halfhearted smile before your attention drifted back to the pool.
“You okay?” she asked.
”Yeah,” you said. “Just tired.”
From the corner of your eye, Feyre tilted her head, narrowing her eyes on your figure. “Really?”
You turned to look at her then, swinging your legs to the side of your chair to face her properly. “Yeah.”
”You know you can talk to me, right?”
You loved Feyre. She was easy to talk to, a loyal friend to her core. But Feyre was also a nosy person at heart. She prodded and poked, dug further at things that you often did. Sometimes it led her to grand discoveries. Other times it led her to getting involved in business she didn’t necessarily understand.
You nodded, giving her a smile. It was genuine, albeit a bit strained, but Feyre seemed to see right through it. “I know,” you said.
”So talk to me. What’s been up with you?”
You blinked. “What? Nothing.”
”Okay, fine,” She let out a small huff. “I was waiting until you brought it up. But since you haven’t, consider this me bringing it up. What’s going on?”
Feyre meant well— she always did— but she was never one to let go of things easily. It was a losing game to continue this with her, to repeatedly deny that something was going on in your mind that warranted such cautious, caring intervention.
“It’s complicated.”
Complicated felt like an understatement.  Your gaze traveled to Azriel for a split second, watching as he emerged from the pool, shaking his wet hair as he laughed at something Rhys said.
“Complicated how?” Feyre pressed.
You realized that Feyre was probably the closest you’d get to someone who could understand your situation. She had started dating Rhys pretty soon after her split from Tamlin.
But what if she didn't get it? Feyre had gone through so much with Tamlin, but their relationship had been significantly different from yours and Eris. They were co-dependent, turned toxic by their devotion towards one another. You and Eris… well, it was fine. Eris wasn’t a bad boyfriend. He did everything right. But he wasn't the one, it never felt right.
“When you ended things with Tamlin, did you ever feel like…like maybe you were moving on too quickly?”
Feyres brows knitted together and, for a moment, you wondered if you’d said too much.
“I did, yeah. But I realized it wasn’t about timing, really. Just about what felt right, what made me happy.”
You nodded, letting her words settle into your mind. You wanted them to sink into your anxious gut, to wash away the twists that had formed since yesterday. You resisted the urge to take another look at Az, to let your gaze linger on his lips. How many almost-kisses could you have with someone before they needed to be addressed?
”Why do you ask?” Feyre’s voice was low, soft, but there was an edge to it that told you she’d keep asking until she got an answer that satisfied her.
You opened your mouth to respond, but the words remained lodged in your chest for a moment. Finally, you managed a breath. “I guess I’m just trying to figure out how to move forward without feeling like I'm leaving things behind too soon.”
Your words extended to thoughts far beyond Azriel too— extended to the worries about your future plans and what you wanted in life.
Feyre tilted her head, studying you. She pulled her wet hair around her shoulders. “Are you worried about what people will think?”
Not just people—- them. Azriel. The truth was, it wasn’t only about moving on too quickly, though that certainly was an issue. You felt guilty about moving on at all, like you’d already had your chance and wasted it. Wasted not only their time, but Eris’s as well. Maybe you didn’t deserve this time with them. You were intruding on something you should have forfeited the moment you made the wrong choice. And by the end of this summer, you might be choosing something over them again.
“Maybe.” You paused. “I just don’t want to hurt anyone. Or feel like I’m doing something wrong.”
Feyre’s expression softened. You felt a pang of envy at how easily she seemed to brush off the guilt she’d felt. But you supposed thats what anger tended to do. Feyre had mended her guilt with the anger she felt towards Tamlin. You knew she was still working through that now, finding a balance between wanting him to be happy and loathing him for the way he made her feel. But she never wanted to talk about it, so you never asked.
“You’re not.” Feyre said. “You have to follow what feels right for you. Moving forward doesn’t always mean you're forgetting the past, it just means you're choosing what’s best for you now.”
You wondered then, how did one know what was best for them? How could you differentiate the feeling of fate and intuition from anxiety and guilt? You were barely an adult. You didn’t know what was best for you. But somehow all of them, your friends, seemed to have things figured out just enough. They knew what they wanted to do, where they wanted to end up. You should’ve just agreed to the plan and wiped it from your mind— let them guide you until you could decide for yourself. You couldn’t though. It didn’t feel right.
Nothing had felt right for a while.
“Yeah,” you responded, but your voice felt small, quiet like a whisper. You cleared your throat, giving her a smile. “Thanks, Fey.”
She offered a gentle smile in return, her eyes searching yours for any sign of what you were holding back. Before she could open her mouth to speak more, her eyes focused on something beyond you.
“I’m back,” Mor sang, her voice light and melodic. She gave you a smile as she sat in front of you, occupying the space next to Feyre.
“Did I miss anything?” She handed you a cup before  turning to look at Feyre.
Feyre had yet to pull her gaze away from you. You met her blue eyes with a sense of pleading. You hoped, deep down, that she understood what you were asking wordlessly, that she would keep what you’d asked to herself— not pry, not dig deeper or ask someone else to. Feyre bliniked and then she nodded, turning to Mor with a smile.
“Nope,” she replied. “Nothing at all.”
You let out a small, relieved sigh and smiled, turning your gaze back to the pool. Almost immediately, you caught Azriel’s eyes fixed on you from the water. He smiled, and the knots in your stomach twisted even further.
✹ ✶ 𖧷 ✶✹
You’d just finished brushing your teeth when your phone buzzed on the bathroom counter. Glancing down, you saw the notification light up the screen.
AzrielJoin me for a walk on the beach?
The corners of your lips twitched upwards. Another text quickly followed.
Your big muscles will scare away any nighttime threats.
It didn’t seem fair to spend as much time with Azriel when your mind was all over the place. You didn’t want to waste his time, to take him away from the rest of the group. But it was nearing midnight and you were sure the rest of the house had settled into their beds, so it wasn’t stolen time necessarily. You glanced down at your phone again, at the unopened text. Something inside you rattled, something restless that craved a moment with Az.
You quickly pulled on a hoodie and walked downstairs.
Azriel’s face softened as you rounded the corner to the kitchen. He placed his phone in his pocket, pushing himself off of where he had leaned against the counter.
“Y/n.”
You smiled — a smile entirely too nervous to be casual— and gave him a sloppy salute. “Bodyguard reporting for duty.”
Azriel let out a small breathy laugh. “I was starting to think you weren’t going to join me.”
“And leave you defenseless?” You tsked. “I‘d never hear the end of it if something happened to you.”
Azriel smiled, all teeth and warmth and joy. You reveled in the sight of his smile lines, in that dimple and the small, faint freckle that disappeared into it. He motioned towards the backdoor.
“Ready?”
You nodded, watching as he pulled a hoodie on. You tried your best not to stare at the exposed skin that showed when he lifted his arms—- truly, you did. But your eyes lingered for a moment anyway and a small blush rose to your cheeks. You’d seen Az shirtless countless times, he was practically shirtless all of today. But these intimate moments, ones where he wasn’t intending to show skin, made you flustered like a twelve year old boy searching for boobs on google.
“Why the text? Why didn’t you just come up and grab me?”
Azriel shrugged, stepping to the side to give you space. He closed the door behind you. “I wasn’t sure if you were asleep and I didn’t want you to feel pressured to say yes. Texting you gave you the option to just… not reply and say you never saw it.”
He met your eyes and something inside you melted further than it had before, like a popsicle during midday. There was no doubt in your mind that Az didn’t think twice about his decision to text you, that he didn't realize how significant and meaningful the action really was. Even in its simplicity, it was so unbelievably caring. Words evaded you, so you gave him another smile and followed him down the path to the beach, slipping off your sandals the minute your feet met the sand.
The beach was always quiet at night, peaceful in a way that made you feel lighter. Only a few minutes had passed since you and Azriel left the house, and now you sat side by side, sounds of the gentle lapping of waves and the occasional distant call of a seabird filling your ears.
“Hey, uh, was everything okay earlier?”
You frowned, turning to look at Azriel as he spoke. His expression was soft, a sense of concern painted across his moonlit features.
“What do you mean?”
Az gave a half shrug. “I noticed you talking with Feyre earlier, when we were all swimming in the pool. Seemed like more than just casual conversation.”
You weren’t quite sure how to respond, whether to focus on how true his words were or the simple fact that he’d noticed. A joke slowly formed at the tip of your tongue, your eyes brightening as you opened your mouth to speak.
Azriel made a face. “Do not make some spy joke right now.”
You laughed softly and Azriel’s lips curved into a subtle smile, a knowing one.
“Fine,” you said, jokingly exasperated. You scanned his face, taking in the way he sat on the sand, how the faint, cool, night breeze ruffled the loose curls on his head.  “You always seem to do that, y’know.”
Azriel blinked, his head cocking slightly. A small crease appeared between his furrowed brows. He was thinking— observing something that he would no doubt store for later.
“Hmm?”
You brought your knees to your chest, taking a moment to look out onto the dark expanse of the ocean. A wave rolled into the sand before you, foamy and glistening with reflected moonlight. You placed your arms across your knees and turned your head to look at him again.
“Read me so well,” You said. “I think with anyone else, it would drive me crazy…but not with you. It feels comforting. Like someone who knows what I’m really thinking.”
“Not always,” Azriel said. His voice was soft, skittering across the sounds of the waves washing on shore. You watched him trace idle patterns into the sand with his fingers before he gave you a sidelong glance. “Sometimes I’m just as clueless as anyone else.”
A silence settled between you both. You traced the motions of the ocean with your eyes, following the waves that rolled onto the sand before you— they were getting closer, each one inching to where you dug your toes into the sand. But neither you or Az seemed to mind.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
Az’s voice pulled you from the trace of the sea. He was already looking at you by the time you met his eyes again. There was a look in them that made your heart skip—a softness, a warmth that was almost disarming.
You bit the inside of your cheek and then offered your hand to him, outstretched and palm up. Azriel knitted his brows, his gaze falling down to your hand. He frowned.
“Where's the penny?” You asked with a raised brow, suppressing the twitch at the corners of your lips.
Azriel’s eyes widened and a laugh left his lips, one of disbelief and amusement. It pulled a smile from him, too, and then he was sitting up straight. “Well that's not fair. I didn’t bring my wallet.”
You pursed your lips, pulling your hand back into your chest with a playful shrug. “Too bad.”
He scanned the sand around him, hands digging and shifting through the grains with focused intent. After a moment, he made a triumphant noise and looked back at you with an expectant face.
You frowned, but Az only nodded towards the hand you had pulled back into your chest. You caught his drift, placing it out once more, and he smiled— a tight, lopsided mischievous one— as he placed something in your hand. You laughed softly, the sound blending with the gentle crash of the waves as you observed the object. The seashell now in your palm was small, textured and ridged with a faint blue tint that shimmered under the moonlight. You met Az’s eyes.
“Do you ever feel like you just keep making the wrong decisions?” You toyed with the seashell in your hands, fingers running over its rough surface. “And now you don’t trust any decision you make?”
Azriel’s expression softened. “All the time.”
“How do you deal with it?”
His gaze turned to the horizon, eyes scanning the endless expanse as if searching for his words among the open water. After a moment, he turned back to you, a small, almost sad smile on his face. “I’m not the right person to ask that.”
You nodded in understanding. In a strange way, it felt comforting to know Az wasn’t as prepared as everyone else, that his mind seemed to wander and drift the same way yours often did. You thought for a moment how comforting it might be to float with Az, to be lost with him in an open, blue sea.
Azriel seemed to call your thoughts back even when they evaded you, yourself.
You adjusted your position, turning to face him more directly. Sitting cross-legged, you held the seashell in your hands, now warm from your touch. “Graduation is coming up and everything seems to be shifting so fast, Az. I’m so desperate to find my footing that I think I'm just acting rashly or out of fear.”
Azriel turned to face you, shifting his position just as you had. There was something so soft about him now. You weren’t sure if it was the glow of the moon, the comfort of the sea, or the way your heart leaped whenever he laughed. But as he sat across from you, you wanted nothing more than to spill your entire mind to him, to reach forward and touch him, to wrap that curl that often fell on his forehead around your finger and tuck it back into place.
“Maybe what you need is to find some balance,” He said. “Or, should I say a golden mean?”
There was a playful grin on his lips as he spoke. It made you smile a bit wider, though you were still confused at the tone of his voice, at the words he’d just spoken.
“Really?” You raised a brow, your smile breaking wide open as Az’s eyes glimmered in wake of your realization. “You’re referencing Aristotle?”
Az only shrugged in response, the playful grin still on his lips.
“And I’m the pretentious philosophy major.”
Azriel laughed and the sound resonated warmly within you, filtering through your lungs like oxygen.
“I had to,” he said as he searched your face. His grin fell into something sweeter, something nostalgic and soft. “You gave a whole presentation on it in freshman year. About how disharmony produces difficulties, that we should strive for a desirable middle.”
A rush of emotion swept through you, settling at the very core of your being. And something blossomed in its path, something tight and giddy, electric and alive.
“I-” You hesitated, blinking as you took in the person before you again, through a lens of even deeper admiration. “You remember that?”
Those were your exact words, too.
“Of course.” Azriel said, as if the question itself was silly to even ask. He looked back at the waves, his expression thoughtful, voice falling to a hushed tone. “I remember a lot of things from freshman year.”
Freshman year felt like a lifetime ago. You took another moment to admire Az, to trace the side of his face, the small bump on his nose, the dagger earring that hung from his ear. The Azriel before you was different in many ways— but not in the ways that mattered, you realized. Those things hadn’t changed at all.
You weren’t sure if the same thing applied to you. You’d changed a lot since freshman year. Your mind sorted through those memories now, to Mor and Feyre, to your dorm and the roommate that you didn’t talk to anymore— the occasional instagram comment and birthday message didn’t count. One memory, however, kept resurfacing: that halloween night, that party, that stolen moment in the upstairs bedroom. What were the chances he was thinking of it too?
“What else do you remember about freshman year?”
You waited with baited breath. This was his chance to back out, to let the conversation drift away if he wasn’t ready to revisit those memories. If he didn’t bring it up, neither would you. You’d bury it away for his comfort, let the memory sit and collect dust, only revisit it when you were alone.
After what felt like an eternity, a small, almost wistful smile touched Azriel’s lips. He turned to you.
“I remember Halloween.”
You took a sharp inhale. “You do?”
Az nodded and that one curl bounced on his forehead as if on cue. “I do,” he said.
“Anything specific?”
Please, you thought. Prove to me that you’ve thought about it, too.
“We almost kissed that night.”
Gripping the seashell tighter, you took a deep breath and nodded. It was silly that a nod was all you could manage, all you could respond with as your chest constricted. A nod like he had just listed something from his grocery list rather than a memory that had shaped your feelings, a memory that lingered in your mind for years.
“Almost,” you pulled yourself to say.
 “Almost,” he repeated quietly.
“Why didnt you?” You chewed at your bottom lip. “Why didn’t you kiss me that night?”
“What do you mean?” Azriel’s brow furrowed. “Cass walked in on us.”
You shook your head. You’d replayed the night in your head so often, had practically lived in it the months following— hadn’t been able to stop the repeat of it until you’d developed feelings for Eris.
“No,” you said. “You hesitated before Cass even walked in.”
Azriel stilled, blinking slowly as he took a deep breath, his gaze drifting to the waves.
“You looked so beautiful that night.” His voice was tender, his eyes locking back onto yours with sincerity. “I mean, you always do, Y/n. Always. But god, I was tripping over myself the entire night, trying to hype myself up. I wanted to kiss you so bad.”
A smile spread across your face as a nervous flutter bounced in your chest. “Then what happened?”
Azriel’s smile faltered and he swallowed hard. His gaze fell to his lap where he fidgeted with his hands. Your heart sank.
“It was so stupid.” He shook his head, his voice tinged with frustration. “So stupid. But some guy—some loser from Rhysand's frat—pulled me aside, told me my costume was great, that the scars on my hands were so ‘gnarly and gross’ they almost looked real.”
His eyes flicked back up to meet yours. The hurt in his expression was so evident that your heart ached at it. But it wasn’t just hurt Azriel bore, it was embarrassment.
 “Az…”
He shook his head. “It was so dumb.”
“Stop—”
“So fucking dumb. But it got to me. And then I was with you, in that room, and when I saw my hand on your cheek... it felt wrong. I felt wrong. Then Cassian came in, drunk off his ass and sat between us. I thought it was some sign. I got so in my head that I could barely pull myself out for the rest of the semester. By the time I could face it, face you, you'd—”
You nodded, a pang of guilt settling in as you pulled your lips together. Eris had asked you out a month a half after, when that strange distance between you and Az had settled.
“I know.” You ran your fingers over the seashell again. “I’m sorry, Az.”
“What could you possibly have to be sorry for?”
“That someone made you feel less than what you are.” You paused to take in his expression, to stare into his eyes, bask in the warmth they offered.  “And for Eris, too. I missed out on a lot of our friendship. I’m sorry for that.”
Azriel’s expression softened as shook his head, a gentle smile forming on his lips.
“That’s not true.” His smile widened slightly. “Even if it was, at least we’re making up for lost time now, right? Strong friendship.”
You laughed softly, but the feeling didn’t spread throughout your body. Friendship.
Maybe too much time had passed for you and Az to be anything more than friends. The thought made you nauseous, sent a chill throughout your body.  Az’s eyes narrowed in on you as you shivered.
“You’re cold,” he said. “We should probably head in; it’s getting pretty late anyways.”
You opened your mouth to protest but thought better of it. “Yeah, probably.”
You forced a small smile as you stood, shoving the seashell into your pocket. You avoided looking directly at Azriel. There was a pang in your chest that made it hard to breathe, disappointment mingled with an uneasy acceptance. Maybe this is what the shape of closure felt like, you thought, something akin to growth, perhaps. Uncomfortable but needed.
With a final sigh, you turned to head inside, making slow, deliberate steps up the beach, the sand cool beneath your feet. Faintly, you became more aware of your surroundings, of the fact that the sound of the waves crashing seemed to carry a faint, hesitant call of your name.
You paused and turned back toward the ocean. Azriel was jogging to catch up, his silhouette outlined by the moonlight. His breathing was labored as he stopped before you, eyes glimmering with something bright and searching.
“I should’ve kissed you that night,” Az said. “And every night after.”
He reached up and gently brushed a stray strand of hair from your face, his fingers lingering on your cheek. “I regret not telling you how I felt. It was torture watching you be with someone else, Y/n.”
You wanted to respond, but nothing seemed right—no words felt enough. You took a breath and let your shoes fall from your grip, resting a hand over his on your cheek. You reveled in the sensation of his touch, feeling the warmth of his skin and the subtle ridges of his fingers, the touch that was uniquely his. And gently, you lowered his hand, holding it with both of yours, fingers intertwining with his. A flicker of confusion passed through his face, the corners of his mouth turning down slightly.
With another breath, you closed the distance between you.
Your lips met his with a tentative softness— a tentative brush of warmth that sent your stomach into a whirlwind of sensation. His lips were warm and inviting, moving against yours slowly, carefully, and the act of him kissing you back washed away any worry, any stress and guilt you’d felt recently.
You drew back for a moment, breathing heavily as your eyes fluttered open. Azriel’s gaze was heavy, molten, and his lips remained parted as he took you in. Then, they curved upwards, and Az let out a breath, eyes brightening.  His smile was the last thing you saw before his arms wrapped around you, pulling you closer.
Your hands found their way to the back of his neck as his mouth returned to yours, more insistent this time. This kiss was deeper, a hunger etched in every movement— a need to make up for lost time. His mouth slotted over yours, fitting perfectly in a way that felt inevitable, like you were always meant to end up here, in his arms.
Your heart pounded in your chest, the sound of it echoing in your ears as you let yourself sink deeper into the kiss. You were sure he could feel it against him, perhaps even hear it, too. A gentle scrape of his teeth against your bottom lip made your knees weak and you wondered, for a moment, if this was what ecstasy felt like. You realized a second later that this was what right felt like. Nothing had felt right because it hadn’t been Azriel.
When you both pulled apart, chests heaving, eyes glazed and mouths puffy, Az ran his thumb along your bottom lip. A beautiful smile graced his lips.
“I would’ve waited four more years for that,” he whispered, and then he kissed you again.

The Birthday disaster
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe it. They weren’t here. They didn’t call, text, or even send you a freaking letter. Your own boyfriend and girlfriend forgot your birthday. And not just any birthday, it was your 21 birthday. Instead of celebrating with Alex, Charles, and all of your friends in a vibrant club, you were sitting on the balcony of your apartment. Despite the cold wind hitting your bare skin mercilessly, thanks to the cute short dress you wore today, you couldn’t bring yourself to walk back inside.
Of course, your friends tried to get you to come out with them to celebrate your birthday properly. But it just hurt too much, and to be honest, your mind was too tired and sad for any kind of festivity.
When Charles and Alex first informed you about the event hosted by one of Alex’s friends, they eagerly asked you to join them. Unfortunately, your job didn’t allow you to tag along, which both of them understood. However, they promised you that they would return today at around 5 o’clock. To be honest, you thought they had something special planned for your birthday. But last night, at around 11 pm, you received a text from Alex, informing you that they would be staying longer in Venice, where the event was held.
At first, you thought this was some kind of joke. Maybe they wanted you to think that they weren’t able to celebrate with you, only to surprise you with a birthday party. But sadly, when you woke up this morning, nothing happened. Throughout the day, there was complete silence between you and them.
Your group of friends, who had been with you a few hours ago to at least celebrate your birthday a little bit, tried to convince you to go out and party with them. Before you could agree, you got a notification from Instagram. You were tagged quite often in a post showing Alex and Charles at the event. They looked so happy and carefree, making you feel even more numb.
Despite their best efforts, your friends left after half an hour, after you reassured them with phrases like “Yes, I will take care of myself,” “Yes, I will call you if I need anything,” and “No, you don’t have to worry about me. I’m completely fine.” They knew you were anything but fine; however, they also knew that you needed to be alone right now.
So here you are, sitting alone in the cold with your only companions being the vodka bottle you brought with you and the relentless wind hitting your skin. “Happy fucking 21st birthday to me, I guess,” you muttered to yourself, staring out at the sea.
“Oh my god, Lisa. You truly outdid yourself,” complimented Alex, her friend. And it was true. The event was filled with beautiful flowers and lights, giving the room a fairy-like appearance. The soft glow of the lights reflected off the petals, creating a magical ambiance that made everyone feel like they had stepped into an enchanted garden. Charles, who stood next to his girlfriend, only brought her closer to him and said, “Yeah, I have to agree. I’m 100% sure YN would have loved it.” “You are so right, love. I wish she was here with us,” agreed Alex, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness.
“Wait, I’m confused. So there is nothing wrong between you guys and YN?” asked Lisa, her brow furrowed in confusion. Alex and Charles shared a look with each other, both of them equally puzzled. “No, why would there be anything wrong with us?” Alex replied, her tone defensive. “Oh, I just thought you had a fight and this is the reason why you are here and not with YN today. But I must have been wrong…” Linda’s voice trailed off, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She shared a look with her partner Mary, both of them realizing the gravity of the situation.
“Wait, stop. Pause. Why would we be with YN tonight? You invited us to your event and we are here. I don’t get what’s going on right now,” said Alex, her frustration mounting. It felt like Mary and Lisa knew something she and Charles didn’t. Mary, who was now also becoming more annoyed with how the two of them acted before them, didn’t take any nonsense from Alex.
Without hesitation, she looked straight into Alex’s eyes and told her with an ice-cold voice, “Well, we weren’t expecting you to show up today because we thought that you would be busy celebrating YN’s 21 birthday today. But from the looks of it, it seems like you forgot your own girlfriend’s birthday. So don’t talk to us with that rude tone of yours. At least we remember each other’s birthdays.” With that, Mary took Lisa by the hand and left, leaving Alex and Charles standing there in stunned silence.
Alex and Charles were left behind, both staring at the space where the couple used to be a few seconds ago. Both of them felt a wave of guilt and shame wash over them. How could they forget their own girlfriend’s birthday? Turning on their phones, they saw the flood of messages they had received from not only their fans but also their friends, YN’s friends, and their families. Each message was a painful reminder of their oversight.
“We messed up so badly,” muttered Charles, looking at Alex with a pained expression. The woman could only nod, still speechless. Charles took her arm and gently but firmly led her out of the room. “We have to go to her. ASAP,” Alex told Charles, who was already a step ahead of her and had their jackets in hand. With that, the couple left the event, both feeling a deep sense of remorse. How could they forget their girl’s birthday?
As they hurried to their car, Alex’s mind raced with thoughts of how to make it up to YN. She knew it would take more than just an apology to mend the hurt they had caused. Charles, too, was lost in his thoughts, thinking of ways to show YN how much she meant to them. They both knew that they had a lot of making up to do, but they were determined to do whatever it took to make things right.
At around 1 am, the couple finally arrived home. The ride back had been silent, the air in the car feeling oppressively thick, making it hard to breathe. They parked their car in the garage and, without hesitation, jumped out of the vehicle, racing towards the elevator. The few minutes it took to reach their front door felt like an eternity, each second stretching painfully.
When they entered the apartment, everything was shrouded in darkness. A figure sat on the balcony, barely visible in the dim light. Charles immediately sat next to YN, while Alex kneeled in front of her. YN didn’t even look at them before taking a gulp from the nearly empty bottle of vodka. “Hey love, I think you’ve had enough for tonight,” whispered Charles, gently trying to take the bottle away from the now 21-year-old girl.
YN shook her head, her voice trembling as she reminded them, “No. NO, you do not get to tell me what I can and cannot do. Not after you forgot about me.” “Baby, we didn’t forget about you,” Alex tried, her eyes already filling with tears. YN only laughed, her own tears streaming down her face. “No, Alexandra. You do not get to tell me that after you forgot my birthday, and you certainly don’t get to cry.” “Ok, let’s all calm down,” Charles attempted again, his voice soothing but firm.
“No Charles! I don’t want to calm down. You both forgot about me. You two promised me that something like this would never happen to us. You promised me that you would always love me. You promised me that the age gap didn’t bother you when we started dating when I was 19. But look at us. You already broke one of your promises. How can I be sure that you won’t break another one?” With that, YN broke down in tears. Her whole body shook with the force of her sobs, her head held in her hands.
Charles and Alex immediately moved to comfort her. “YN, breath. We are so freaking sorry. I guarantee you, we didn’t mean for something like this to happen. We were all so busy with our jobs and social lives that we didn’t mean to forget something so important,” Charles began, his voice filled with regret.
Alex took YN’s head into her hands, gently wiping away her tears. “We love you more than anything in this world. You are our air and our heart. And we will apologize for the rest of our lives if we have to,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion. YN only whispered, “I love you guys too.” Alex didn't hesitate before kissing her girlfriend. after a moment the they pulled apart.
Charles turned her face towards him, speaking softly, “And we didn’t lie when we told you the age gap didn’t bother us. And we certainly didn’t lie when we promised you that we would always love you, ok?” After YN nodded, Letting Charles also kiss her. This kiss was filled with as much love as Alex, just a bit more urgently but still gentle. After their kiss, the three of them cuddled close to each other, finding solace in their shared warmth.
It would take some time before everything was alright between the three of them again. But for now, sitting together and watching the city lights flicker in the distance was the perfect way to start healing.

“Tommy?”
“Hey, m’so sorry to be callin’ ya on Christmas Eve. I know…Well, I know this is probably the last thing ya wanna be hearin’ but I really need your help. It’s Joel…” The noise level on the other side increases with a gust of rowdiness, clueing you in that he must be at a bar. You press the phone tighter against your ear, listening to Tommy ramble off reasonings for your help interwoven with profuse apologies. Guilt hangs heavy inside of you, the soft music and glasses clinking in the other room a reminder of your own Christmas Eve plans. How it’s supposed to go every year. Peaceful, light, fun, full of love. Your holiday with Joel looked different. Full of love, yes, but overwhelming, stifling with grief.
“I’ll be right over, Tommy.” You can’t turn away, you can’t hang up and go back to your life tonight. Not with knowing how much pain Joel’s in.
The tree lights up as you stick the plug in the socket, your nightly task for the last month just as the sun sets. Clear, warm bulbs illuminate the otherwise dark living room, shining out to the street as a beacon of a lived-in home. Reflections of warmth bounce off of the shiny glass ornaments littered around the branches, heirlooms from your family, and some you’ve collected yourself. Combined with ones from Joel’s past. It’s not cohesive, but it’s a beautiful smattering of your lives. Pine wafts from the sappy center of the tree, filling the room with the scent of evergreen, tinged with the stuffy warmth from the central heat.
You’d decorated the tree on your own a few weeks ago. Joel helped you pick up the tree from the sale lot in the H.E.B. car park, strapping it down in the bed of his pickup. More than willing to help you get it inside, into the basin, and secure it tightly to avoid any accidents. But that’s when his assistance stopped. No humming along to the Christmas CDs you queued, no suggestions of festive movies to watch, no sneaking some Bailey’s into the mugs of decaf coffee you brewed to keep warm. Instead, he retreated up to your bedroom, shutting the door behind him and effectively shutting you out for the evening.
Tommy’s truck pulls into the driveway, dropping off Joel for the holiday after last-minute projects were tied off. Joel had mentioned grabbing a drink with Tommy, to celebrate another year gone by with their new business venture, Miller Construction. You didn’t think anything of it, wishing him a good day that morning and sending him off while you prepped dinner and baked cookies to bring over to your parent’s house tomorrow.
As you sit down on the couch, Joel fumbles at the door with his keys, finally getting them jammed in and the lock turned. He stumbles inside, tripping over his own feet despite his eyes being trained on them, grumbling to himself as he frustratingly kicks off his boots. You stand up to greet him, a warm smile on your face faltering when he looks back at you with a scowl.
“Need a drink…” he slurs, avoiding you completely in the middle of the living room, frown lit up by the tree. Joel treks to the kitchen, straight for the whiskey bottle that he takes a long pull from before filling a glass halfway. The amber liquid sloshes as he turns to look at you, holding out the crystal tumbler.
“You want some, baby? S’Christmas Eve! Everybody thinks it’s something to celebrate, right?”
It never snows in Austin, but driving down the highway with your windows down, it smells like winter. Crisp, cool air rubbing your cheeks raw, running your nose. Thin air, fresh. A medicinal feeling, like inhaling the menthols you used to smoke. It’s freezing, but you can’t bring yourself to roll up the windows, to close yourself into your car as you cruise on the open roads. Everyone’s tucked away at home, with family or friends, while you drive towards something as familiar, but much more grisly.
Christmas carols crack over the stereo, painting visions of picture-perfect holidays, the feelings of joy, love, belonging, and warmth that you’ve craved for him since you met him. Something you so desperately wanted to drip back into his life from your hand, dribbling water to a lightless soul.
The glass is empty now, bottle as hollow as Joel’s eyes look. He stands in front of the tree, studying the decorations with a freshly opened bottle of wine in his grip, one you were meant to bring to your parents tomorrow. His brows haven’t relaxed, not one stitch unsewn since he walked in the door. Mumbles of anger have rolled from his chest, never directed toward you, but aimed at the world around him. At the holiday. At the lack of presents addressed to his daughter under the tree, the missing duties of playing Santa.
You met Joel after Sarah passed. He spoke about her often, telling you all about his little girl who was funny, bright, bubbly, better than him in every way. She’s been gone for a handful of years now, the tragedy worn on Joel’s face and in his curls; aged and grayed. He was still so handsome, still held a smile for you despite the deep, open aches he feels the pains of every day.
Never having a holiday with him, you didn’t know that this is ‘just how he is’. Tommy had heeded some warnings to you, had called you in a whisper as he pulled away from the house that evening with apologies — ‘I tried to cut him off, but when I left for a minute to go to the bathroom, he’d gotten the bartender to pour him another double…I tried to take it, but he wouldn’t…’
You expected feelings these days, this month, the whole season. How could a father not miss his only child when the rest of everyone’s happiness, luck, blessings are thrown back in his face? But this…this was a different Joel. Someone angry, someone cursing his own existence. He fumbled around the living room, shoving the coffee table when he bumped into it, picking tinsel off the tree and tossing it to the ground.
At the time, it seemed like a good idea to intervene. To attempt to talk him into bed, or at least into eating something and laying down on the couch. Other issues to address in the morning when he was sober.
Now, you know that was a mistake.
“What do you want from me? What does my brother want from me? Am I just supposed to get over it so everyone can have their merry little Christmas?” His voice strings words together, his drawl thicker with inebriation. Wine splatters across the kitchen tile, Joel’s arms swinging around as he speaks with his hands.
“No one is ever asking or expecting you to get over it, Joel. We just—I don’t want you to be like…to feel like this. Sarah wouldn’t want you to—”
He doesn’t raise his voice. Joel never raises his voice. The calm chill of his voice sends a wash of anxiety over your entire body, words punching clear now despite his physical state.
“Enough. Don’t even say that 'cause you wouldn’t fucking know.”
The freezing air fills your lungs, choking out as it stifles your inhale. Strong heaves of breaths expand your lungs before they squeeze out with sharp exhales, the coughing fit morphing into sobs. Tears blur your vision, flowing over your waterline and burning hot against your cheeks. Carving trails across your face with iron branding. Find the same paths of all their predecessors, all that came before them for the very same reasons.
You manage to pull off to the side of the road to compose yourself, parking near enough to your exit. Slipping out of the driver’s seat, you open the door and tumble out, talking yourself down from hysterics. Wading through the thick emotions, the unresolved slashings of anger and frustration, the unanswered love.
Facing the midnight sky, twinkling spots stare back at you, reminding you of your size in the world. How large everything feels, how all-consuming. How it doesn’t seem to be felt all the same by the one person you want it from. Need it from.
Struck with a flash of a star falling against the black backdrop, there’s a brief moment when you think it’s Santa Claus. In his sleigh pulled by reindeer, riding around to deliver joy to families across the world. Another reminder of how small you feel. How much like a kid you feel. Unsure of where you stand in his life, uncertainty facing your future, undecided in what is the right thing to do.
The sky kaleidoscopes in your watery eyes, small shining bursts gazing back at you. And your first thought is how similar they look to Joel’s eyes that night. Sad, glossy, shimmering with anger that sat long enough to finally introduce itself as grief.
You stayed out of the way after that. Let him drink himself into a hole. Dinner is left untouched until the later evening when you wrap it all up and store it away in the fridge. Noting another bottle of wine gone from the cabinet.
Joel’s corralled upstairs with less persuasion the drunker he’s gotten, craving the comfort of your shared bed the closer he gets to passing out. He trips over his feet while you walk behind him, a hand pressing into his lower back to direct him. Hiccups shake his body. Teeth stained red. Life sucked from the day, no more chances at honoring memories, no more magic left to make something special for Joel. Nothing that can sprinkle some goodness into his life.
He’s got an iron grip on his resentment, on his rage. Understandably.
But that grip drops his hand from his happiness, from his comfort, from his remembrance. It all slips through his fingers now, grains of sand falling through the lines in his palms, the ridges of his fingerprints. What was so ingrained in him, years ago with his daughter, days ago with you, is easily forgotten as the monster of misery uses your kindhearted man as a vessel. Rendering him unrecognizable.
Taking in his sleeping form, fully clothed and half covered with a quilt. He was out as soon as his head hit the pillow, his coping catching up with him to finally receive the desired effect — feeling nothing. Turning his brain off completely, emptying him to float in a void for at least one night.
His lips parted with slow, even breaths. Brows relax, falling back to lift his eyes, despite them being closed. Delicate eyelashes lay against his cheeks, and you watch as a smattering of exhausted tears slip from the corners of his shut eyes. No more stubborn will to hold them back. The first real emotion you’ve witnessed all evening.
It’s another moment before you turn away, filling the empty glass at his bedside with water from the bathroom tap. Avoiding his soft sleeping form and your empty side of the mattress, you pack a small bag to retreat to your parent's house, a short note left for Joel in the morning inviting him over when he’s feeling up for it.
One last glance at him drives an ice pick into your heart, warm blood pooling around your feet matching the shade of red on his lips. It feels cruel, to pack up and leave for the night, but without knowing if this charade continues through the next day, you don’t quite feel like sticking around to find out.
The bar is busier than you would have thought, with a good amount of groups growing rowdy for the holiday. You imagine they are there drinking in camaraderie, in celebration. The opposite to your Joel. He’s slumped over the bar in his green flannel, hugging his broad frame that shields him from the joy raucous of the room.
Tommy stands next to him, hand on his shoulder in an attempt to draw him away from the wooden bartop, to get him away from the stool and the glass filled with amber liquid.
When the bartender greets you while you approach, Tommy turns toward you, sighing and shaking his head as he leans into his older brother to mumbling loud enough for your to overhear as you settle behind Joel’s seat, “M’sorry I had to do this, Joel, but you’ve got to get home…”
Joel grumbles, shrugging off his brother’s hand. When he’s turned to address his brother with a protest, he catches you in the periphery, reacting with a molasses-like double take. Angling in your direction from his perch on the worn leather barstool, his eyes widen in shock, and he swallows hard. The drink in his hand is left discarded on the bar top, Tommy signaling for the bartender to come by and grab it while Joel stands dumbfounded by the presence of you.
“Sweetheart…”
The name is a punch in the gut, recalling every other time it raised goosebumps in its wake while it was whispered against your skin, each time it was tacked onto a gentle tease, each time it was spoken in place of feelings he couldn’t, he wouldn’t, communicate to you.
Recovering quickly, you right yourself internally, rising tall and holding your shoulders back while tender kindness masks your anguish. A head shake draws up a watery expression despite your efforts, your smile plastering onto your expression. Joel frowns, seeing straight through the guise.
“C’mon, Joel. Let’s get you home, yeah?”
Both of you stare at the hand of yours laid on his bicep, radiating heat from the contact that starts to melt the ice that froze your feelings for him in place those months ago. Joel is the first to look away, the burn of his saucer eyes drilling into your profile.
“No. No, I don’t need to—” he argues, always a mule.
“Joel,” you interrupt, voice thickened with sentiment, “please. I wanna go home. Let’s go home.”
The statement isn’t a lie. The furthest thing from an untruth.
It’s exactly what you have been wanting to say to him for months, feeling untethered and lost. You’ve been aimlessly searching for that same solace elsewhere. In other places, in other people. Nothing could compare. Joel is home. And all you want to do is return, to feel safe and warm and welcomed at home. To feel as if there is room for you there, that you aren’t driven out by the torment that tortures Joel, and in turn, you.
That’s what gets him to agree. The promise of home, with you there with him. The same piece he’s felt missing, the second heart of his home stripped from him because of his unwillingness to let up his grip on his anger and resentment. Because of his resistance to cradle his comfort, his contentment, his love for you.
“You wanna go home?” A nod answers him, rolling his actions into motion, “Okay, okay. M’gon—gonna take you home, baby. We can…I can give you your gift.”
“Sure, honey. We can do that in the morning,” you counter, the corners of your mouth turning up for a split second when Joel agrees.
His large form falls from the stool and into his brother when he attempts to get up. It’s a dance between the three of you to get him into your car and to his place. Tommy follows, there to drag him up the stairs with you behind, a hand on Joel’s lower back. He preens into every touch from you, glancing over his shoulder to check that you’re still there. That you haven’t left again. You can’t help but notice the living room illuminated by a Christmas tree, the smell of pine filling the house and the delicate glass ornaments placed carefully around the tree. He tried this year.
You do stay. This time you’re sitting with it all, ready for the confrontation of the next day. With Tommy gone, you and Joel are left alone with each other for the first time in months. In your old bedroom of all places.
Joel sits at the edge of the bed, head hanging in shame while you kneel in front of him, tentatively laying a hand on his knee.
If this time is going to be different, you need a reason to stay. A single brick taken out of his walls, the signal of the start of a wreckage that you will happily clear so long as you can have your Joel feel like a semblance of himself again.
“You’re always gonna see the bottom of your glass, Joel. Nothing can save you from that, not even all the drink in the world. It’s all still going to be there. You have to decide to face it.”
It’s quiet for a moment, the only sounds filling the room are your slow breaths in sync with each other’s. Joel picks his head up, angling it to look down at you directly. Tears have carved channels into his face, fight leaving his eyes as he opens his mouth to speak in a rasped whisper.
“Sarah always loved Christmas...”

Sfw Hashiras Fluff Headcanons
Charachters: Gyomei, Sanemi, Rengoku, Uzui, Gyuu x fem!reader
A/n: Hey guys!! It's been a while since I write something here. So, I recently rewacth kimetsu and I'll bring content abt it and soon I'll open my request box and I'll accept requests for kny. I hope you like it ❤️
☆---☆---☆---☆---☆---☆---☆---☆---☆---☆
Gyomei :
The true gentle giant And the perfect husband material too He is very kind to you and very careful with you like 24/7 He gives a lot of hugs but because he is aware of his size and strength, he tries to do his best not to break any bones in you. His arms are a very safe haven, you feel like no demon could hurt you if he had you there. If you are feeling sad for any reason, he will be by your side to help you to feel better. He will even learn the water breathe because of so much water that will come out of those eyes. He just can't stand to see you suffer or cry Gyomei will always want to keep you close on all missions and if Ubuyashiki doesn't put you two on the same mission... He'll cry a lot. You will have to give this big man a good dose of affection so that he doesn't worry so much about you, but his altruism doesn't allow him to. He also not only likes training with you (and I can tell you that he always goes easy on you because he doesn't want to hurt you in any way) but he also likes to take you to pray with him. He feels good knowing that you are safe and by his side. Get ready to see him come home every week with a different cat, he's a cat lover and can't stand the idea of seeing them abandoned on the street. Gyomei cries every day because he can't see the face of the person he loves most and who has done so much for him. And along with that, he has a habit of passing his big hands over your face to feel through touch the texture of your skin and every detail of your face. Even though he's blind, he can swear that you're the most beautiful person he knows. He's such a bbg with a huge heart❤️
Tengen :
Such a big flashy bitch with three flashy wifes He's crazy and very extroverted and if you're the shy type, be prepared to be taken out of your comfort zone. Now if you are an extrovert like him then you will do "flashy crazy things". Tengen makes no distinction between his wives and always gives the same love to all of them. You are no exception as his fourth wife. He always puts you first and if you are in danger he arrives at the speed of sound and saves you. He will also challenge you countless times to train with him. He likes to see you fight, he thinks you are strong and flashy. Tengen considers himself a "god of festivals" so I don't need to tell you that he will take you to all kinds of festivals so that you can have fun. You guys tend to go out a lot, sometimes just the you two, other times with the other wives or the two of you and the other hashiras, especially with his bestie Rengoku. (I love the dynamic between these two even though I think it should have appeared more in the anime) He is very playful and is always making jokes here and there with you, especially pranks. Be prepared cause he won't give you breaks when it comes to prank you. Jokes aside, he also recognizes when you're not feeling well and will always be there for you to cheer you up because this man don't like sad people and hates crying faces, especially if they are from his wives. He loves each one and wants to see them smiling all the time. He also gives good hugs and strong hugs. It's worth remembering that this man is also a big guy and very cozy too.
Sanemi :
It was a kind of love and hate at first sight At first, he was still a little harsh with you, although he was aware inside that he was taking it easier when training with you, that even his speech seemed softer when you were around, that his eyes didn't seem so wide with anger when you were around. Everything changed and the other hashiras also started to notice it. I bet Mitsuri, Rengoku and Tengen have been spying on him to find out why he changed. I'm sorry but I love this trio so much😭 Sanemi is not the type to show a lot of PDA to be honest but in case some guy messes with you then be prepared to have an arm over your shoulders or around your waist and at the same time watch the guy who messed with you get killed. He has a short fuse as we all know but when he and you are alone and you hold his hand and smile at him, he will blush and don't even dare point it out or he will get really pissed. In fact, you do it just to see him out of his mind. I'm sure he would love it too but he'd rather not admit it. As we also know, Sanemi is not the type to give patient and romantic love but tough love, as it was the only one he learned due to the life he had, but when he comes across you, someone who can show him the soft side of love, he will be willing to learn more from you. If he's having a bad day, he'll be quieter than usual and then you'll have to lay him against your chest and stroke his hair to calm him down. The comfort you provide him makes the hard shell around his heart break and he can open up to you. He just loves the feeling of your fingers running through the white strands of his hair. In his case, he's not the best at giving affection but if he sees your sad eyes for some reason he automatically pulls you onto his lap hugging you. If you cry, he'll want to know who he has to kill for making his beautiful girlfriend cry. He does the best he can just to see your face become happy again. When you find out from Tanjiro that his favorite food is ohagi, you often make it for him to eat and he can't help but being embarrassed about it. Inside, he loves it when you do this for him and even gets annoyed that it tastes better than when he does it but at the same time he doesn't stop wondering how you found out about ohagi being his favorite food. Tanjiro run for your life...
Rengoku :
My man🧡 He's very sweet and caring towards you. You are everything to him. Do you know all that good mood and joy that this man usually radiates? Well, that only increased when you're around him. He introduces you to everyone and everyone is happy for you two. *Bonus* Senjuro, his younger brother, adores you and supports you two a lot. You usually spend a lot of time together but when missions come up in different directions, he always says goodbye to you with big hugs and words of encouragement. I want a hug from him too🥲 He and you usually train in the afternoons and practice both breathing techniques. You also usually visit the mansions of the other Hashiras to talk since he gets along with everyone. I hope you have a deep stomach because he loves taking you out to eat and this man doesn't eat little and will want you to keep up with his pace. Expect to hear this man shout "UMAI!!" with every bite. Rengoku always shares his food if you are hungry and when you are full and can't eat any more, leave it to him, because this man eats without leaving any crumbs (literally). If you're feeling cold, he puts his hashira haori over your shoulders. I hope you have a good voice because this man has hearing problems and so you will have to shout most of the time for him to understand what you're saying. The moment he likes most is when he has you in his arms, sitting on the porch of the house, watching the sunset while he distributes small kisses on your face or temples and runs his fingers through your hair slowly until you fall asleep. He always makes sure his hugs are comfortable enough for you to feel welcomed and protected. (Man I'm crying, I'm so single😭😭) I believe he can be very clingy and even in the summer, he will always want to hug you, even if it increases the heat and you end up with your clothes drenched in sweat. He also likes to make sure he gives you enough kisses before heading out on a mission. He doesn't get embarrassed even with someone around... Even with Tengen in the background like: "MAN JUST GET A ROOM ALREADY!!" He's also the type to bring you gifts when he goes on a mission. You no longer have space to store so much of the things he brings to you. I want a Rengoku for myself, like now fr
Tomioka :
Shinobu will tease this man so much after he gets someone and he will roll his eyes every time she mentions this. It wasn't easy to get close to him at first, he was distant and his eyes were empty and expressionless. But after you showed up, things changed, you insisted on him and you both started going on missions together, going out together, eating together. You even beat him once when you both tried to see who could eat more. It was one of the first times you saw him smile and when you pointed it out, he hid his now flushed face. Tomioka is very loyal and protective of those he loves, you were one of the few people who came close to him and showed him that he is no less than anyone else and recognized his value as an hashira. He doesn't know how to talk openly about his feelings but his eyes are very good at expressing it. In public, he likes to hold your hand and sometimes he give you little squeezes when he's feeling tense or when he's tired from a mission. When alone, things are easier for him. He has more freedom to hug you and he really likes kissing your forehead and lips. I know these two can't stand each other but they have one thing in common: Just like Sanemi likes to hug you when he's having a bad day, Tomioka will also want to be in your arms and feel your affection if the things aren't going well with him. This makes him more relaxed and keeps his head cool. And like Rengoku, he also likes to give you small gifts when he returns from a mission. Tomioka's eyes don't leave you for a minute when you're around, whether at home or on a mission and especially on a mission. He has already lost a lot of people dear to him and he couldn't bear to lose you, which is why he always likes to keep his focus on you to avoid greater harm. However, if you look at him when his eyes are following you, he will look away immediately and there's no point in pointing this out to him because he won't admit it. I believe he has an overprotective side just for you, especially when someone with bad intentions passes on the same street as you two. He'll automatically put an arm around your waist which makes you look at him intrigued. You will initially think that he's jealous or something but the true is that he's just trying to protect you and make others realize that you are not alone and he always wants to show it without causing too much fuss. He is a quiet individual and likes to take it that way. Such a man of manners fr I love him ❤️

sahsrau and the ways in which the game’s story changes pt. 1: Sigonia-IV
aventurine’s story made me sad. maybe this is my way of coping. got aventurine’s sister’s name from someone who talked about her on this app. also i’m making a lot of assumptions about how it went down, but there were roughly 10,000 avgins that were involved. also apparently the avgins are based on romani culture and I have no idea about that either soooooooooo cw for blood and severed limbs. and maybe gore. and definitely mentions of death. and probably my ignorance too.
Ecclesiastes 4:1-3
Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed-- and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors-- and they have no comforter. And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive. But better than both is he who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.
Kezia knew she was going to die. It wasn’t the greatest way to go down at the hands of the bloodthirsty Katicans, but what was honorable about it was that she would meet her end in the rain.
“Kakavasha must have escaped by now,” she thought to herself, “and he will survive.” Kezia held faith in her brother and in the Mother Goddess, Gaiathra Triclops, the one whom she served.
It was now time for the festival- and so she tossed her Knot into the bonfire as a sort of goodbye to this cruel life she had lived in, and lamented on her brother’s fate- he will go through many hardships and sufferings, but she knows that the blessing of Fenge Biyos will remain with him all throughout his journey.
It was a shame she’ll never get to see him again.
She regrets not saying more before their departure.
She had heard that some of the other bastard clans had made a deal with the Interastral Peace Corporation- the people who had promised to protect them on this very day- to make sure that they were all wiped out.
She held her makeshift club in her shaky hands. She didn’t want to die. Not like this. She had wanted to get married and have a family of her own.
And, for the first time in her life, her faith cracked like a shattered mirror.
The Mother Goddess had always let her down-
When Dad fell into the quicksand,
When Mother was caught and slaughtered like an animal,
And now, while she was facing down death.
She remembers one of the workers that came during that first day- praising the Aeon of Guidance and all their works-
And so, under her breath, unsure of how to do it, she prayed for her safety, she prayed for her survival, and most of all, she prayed for the opportunity to see her dearest brother once again.
As the sky wept for the fate of her people, the Katicans arrived, howling laughter emerging from within the storm.
do not worry child
Finding the sudden strength within her, she let out a roar.
i shall be forever with you
Her club slammed into the skull of a Katican, pulverizing it into a bloody mess.
i shall give you strength
Another near her tried to avenge his fallen comrade, and she cratered their face, producing a sickening squelch.
and when you are trapped in the darkness
She didn’t count. How many had fallen at her hands? 100? 500? 1,000? 5,000? All she knew was that the sky wept blood.
i shall bring you into the light
All around her there were the corpses of Katicans, Not a drop of her blood was shed, and nothing to threaten her in her vicinity. She looked down at her hands. Red. Her hands were red, stained with the crimson of those who had tried to end her life.
Kezia wept tears of joy.
“The Avgin always return back their blood debts,” she had remembered saying to her little brother.
It looks like they had a new debt to pay.
(A/N: I have no idea what the hell I just made. I have no beta reader, so there’s that I guess. I don’t have a structure either. I just made stuff up and used the wiki for reference.)

Okay hear me out…
Walt Finnegan x ex!reader, who dated the first year of college, but broke up because he was a dick to her.
He sees her at the club or maybe at one of the parties at the house, and realizes that he still loves her.
Flangst with a happy ending maybe? I just want to be his college love interest and would love to live vicariously through this fic 😆
Hope you’re having a great day love!
(Just Like) Starting Over | Walt "Finn" Finnegan x Female!reader
Tumblr media
Request: Requested by anon
Word Count: 7510
Summary: Reader and Finn met during their Freshman year of college and started dating. Things were going well until they weren't. Some things were said, other things were thrown. Long story short, they broke up. But maybe it was something that was meant to be?
Warnings: Alcohol use, drug use, cursing, angst, fluff, Finn being the handsome devil he is, violence?
A/N: I'm somehow on a roll right now. This was started a while ago and never finished. But @msmoony7 commented how there is very little Finn appreciation on here and I knew I had to finish this. Hope everybody likes it because I also agree that Finn is one of Glen's most underappreciated characters.
Registration Day. It is one of the most frustrating and anxiety-ridden days a college student will ever experience.
They always have the same questions. What am I going to major in? Do I want a minor? What classes do I need to take? Can I register for the classes I need before they fill up?
For some, namely the freshmen, the anxiety and stress were through the roof. Which is why they could always use a little guidance. (Y/N) loved registration day since her second semester of freshman year of college. Ever since she joined her sorority and joined some of the other girls in volunteering to assist freshmen with choosing their majors and classes, the good thing about the situation is she can also hand out flyers encouraging freshman girls to rush with her sorority.
She enjoyed handing out flyers and answering any questions the girls might have. However, what she didn’t enjoy was cocky freshman boys hitting on her just because she had a beating heart.
“Hey, baby! I wouldn’t mind having those legs of yours around my neck,” one called out to her as he walked past her and a freshman girl she was talking to.
“Yeah, how about my hands instead,” I shouted back at him, crumbling one of the fliers to throw at his head as the girl standing next to me scoffed in disgust.
“Woah, easy dollface,” A voice I knew all too well said from behind me, causing me to slowly turn my glare toward him.
“Finnegan,” I stated simply.
I watched his smirk widen across his stupid mustache-clad face, his hands shoved into his blue jean pockets.
With a bright smile, I looked back at the girl next to me and handed her another flier. “Please consider rushing with us and bring some friends too. Oh, and a word of advice…” I trailed off, causing her to nod in acknowledgment. “Stay away from the baseball team,” I told her, turning my glare back towards Finn.
The girl looked between us before rushing off to the rest of the registration festivities.
“Well now you just hurt my feelings,” He said sarcastically, placing a hand over his heart and frowning.
“Aw,” I said in a mockingly sad tone, placing an exaggerated pout on my face.
Finn’s smirk returned to his face as he continued staring at me, looking me up and down, pausing on my lips and my breasts. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms across my chest.
“What do you want, Finn,” I interrogated the baseball player.
“You look good,” he said simply, a smile growing on his face.
I rolled my eyes and went to step past him, but he only stepped back in my path. “Seriously, what do you want? Because last I recall, I said fuck you, called you a disrespectful misogynistic asshole, and told you to not ever speak to me again.”
“Did you, I don't recall this conversation,” Finn said in confusion.
I scoffed and shook my head in disbelief. “Really? You don't recall me saying that to you and dumping your ass?”
“No, I don't. Are you sure? When was that,” he asked me curiously.
“Freshman year, right before Christmas, at my sorority's Christmas party that you and your dumb fuck baseball friends almost ruined,” I sneered at him.
“Well, that’s why. It was freshman year. And I was probably drunk off my ass,” Finn recovered with an excuse, placing a smirk back on his face.
“Because that makes it better,” I said sarcastically, going to walk around him once again.
Finn grabbed my arm and pulled me back in front of him. “Look, I’m sorry I was an asshole, but I’ve changed.”
“Oh, yeah, trust me I’ve heard, Mr. Feminist. You think the girls on this campus don’t talk,” I scoffed at him in disbelief. “And I’ll believe you’ve changed and you’re sorry when you can tell me why I dumped your ass.” Finn remained silent and stared at me regretfully, causing me to nod at him with despair. “That’s what I thought,” I said simply before successfully walking past him to my sorority's booth.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Finn’s friends Dale, Jake, and Plum were all witnessing the exchange between the two from a distance.
“So, what’s the story there,” Jake asked Dale curiously.
“With (Y/N) and Finn,” Dale clarified, causing Jake to nod in confirmation. “Their situation is…complicated.”
“What the fuck does that mean,” Plum questioned the older baseball player.
“Finn and (Y/N) dated freshman year. Nobody knows a whole lot about what happened between them. They met on Registration Day and dated until around Christmas. They got into a huge fight that ended in (Y/N) dumping Finn. Poor guy never got over her and hasn’t been the same since,” Dale explained to the two freshmen, watching as (Y/N) walked away from their friend.
“Fuck,” Jake said simply, feeling sorry for the older baseball player who was walking back towards them.
“You okay, Finn,” Dale asked his friend, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“Yeah, I’m great. Why wouldn’t I be,” Finn asked his friends happily, acting as though nothing happened at all.
Tumblr media
THE NEXT DAY
I walked into the community area of the sorority house to see some of the girls giggling and jumping around excitedly. I shook my head at their energy and moved up the stairs to my room when one of them spoke up.
“Hey, (Y/N). Some of us girls got invited to a house party tonight at one of the houses on 15th and Avenue H. They told us to bring all the girls. You want to come,” Claire asked me excitedly.
“I don’t know, guys,” I shrugged.
“Come on, you have to go. There’s going to be so many cute guys there, and you hardly go out with us,” Sarah added.
“I-,” I started, shaking my head.
All of the girls began speaking up with various exclamations of “Come on” and “Please” echoing around me. I sighed and looked between all of the girls in front of me before nodding. They all let out squeals of excitement and began pushing me upstairs so all of us could get ready together.
Tumblr media
I looked up at the house in front of me in disgust before looking around at all of the people outside and going inside the house.
“The school is allowing students to live in this shit hole,” I questioned in disbelief.
“It could be worse,” Claire pointed out before approaching the front door.
I sighed and followed after her, along with the rest of the girls. I walked in the front door and immediately jumped into Claire when someone came sliding down the stairs on a mattress.
“Jesus Christ,” I sighed when I saw a baseball helmet on the male's head, and that the male was Nes.
“Welcome to the baseball house, ladies,” The guy said with a cigarette between his lips.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me,” I scoffed in disbelief.
He looked over at me and furrowed his brows. “Do I know you? You look familiar?”
“Uh, no I don’t think-,” I started, only to get interrupted by Claire and Sarah.
“Hey, um, can you tell me where to find Roper,” Claire asked the guy curiously.
“And McReynolds,” Sarah added quickly.
I rolled my eyes and began to split off from the group of girls, listening to Nes tell the girls where the two baseball players were before looking at the rest of the girls and introducing himself. I made it about 10 more feet before some creep with glasses stopped me and asked me if I wanted to know why they called him Raw Dog. I scrunched my face in disgust and thanked the lord above when I saw Dale walking up to the two of us.
“Niles, leave the girl alone. Trust me when I say that you don't want to fuck with this girl. You'll be dealing with Finnegan if you do,” Dale warned the creep.
“Fuck that shit man. He fucks with me, he won't get fucked with back, he'll get fucking killed,” the Niles guy argued.
“Uh huh, say that to his face,” Dale told him before wrapping his arm around me and leading me away.
“Well he seems a little…,” I trailed off unsure.
“Yeah,” Dale nodded simply.
“Well, thank you for that, Dale. It was much appreciated,” I said gratefully with a smile.
“It's no problem. Nothing ever happened between us so there's no reason we can't be friends,” He reassured me, causing me to nod in agreement. “But I am shocked that you're here of all places considering…”
I scoffed at him in amusement before nodding. “Yeah, trust me, if I knew this was a baseball party I would not have come within 100 feet of this place. Some of my sisters were invited by McReynolds and Roper and talked me into tagging along.”
Dale nodded in understanding before pointing towards the back of the house. “Well, hey, how about we get you a drink so you can start having fun and enjoying yourself? I can introduce you to some of the others.”
“Sounds like a plan,” I said in agreement, following him out to the house's backyard.
Dale led me out the back door and towards the drinks before gaining the attention of everybody standing around the beer keg.
“Guys, this is…,” Dale started, only to get interrupted by Coma.
“Well, well, well. If it ain’t Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” Coma said with a smile, his southern accent peeking through.
“Hey, Coma,” I said with a slight giggle, stepping forward to hug him.
“(Y/N), these are the freshmen: Plum, Brumley, and Jake. This is another one of the transfers: Willoughby.”
“Hi, nice to meet you guys,” I said with a smile, reaching forward to shake their hands.
“So, how do you know Dale and Coma,” Brumley asked me curiously, causing me to pause and look over at the two guys.
“Um…,” I trailed off. “It’s complicated.”
I watched Plum lean over to his fellow freshman and whisper something to him. I heard him let out a quiet “fuck” before Plum smacked the back of his head and call him a “fucking idiot.”
“So…,” I trailed off with a tight smile. “Even the freshmen know. Great,” I said sarcastically looking over at the two upperclassmen.
Dale and Coma looked at each other before Coma stepped closer to me. “How about a drink, darlin’.”
I nodded at him and followed him to the punch with Willoughby in tow as I listened to Dale lecture the freshman.
“It’s been a while, (Y/N). How’ve you been,” Coma asked me curiously as he filled my cup for me.
“Oh, um, you know just worrying about school. And when I’m not worrying about school I have something going on with my sorority. Planning parties and fundraisers and such,” I shrugged up at the baseball player, taking a sip of my drink after he handed it to me. “Shit, this is good. I might have to recruit you guys for drinks at our next party.”
“I’m sure we can make that happen, darlin’. Just say the word and the guys and I will give you the best Coon Dog punch you’ve ever tasted,” Coma told me, wrapping his arm around me.
I laughed at him in amusement before looking up at Willoughby. “So, Willoughby, why don’t you tell me about yourself.”
“Oh, I’m from California. Coach brought me in to pitch,” He explained to me while pulling a joint out of his pocket.
“Oh, that’s cool,” I told him, watching him bring the joint to his lips and light it.
“Yeah. Hey, you get high,” He asked me curiously.
I widened my eyes and looked between him and the joint before shaking my head. “Oh, no. I did that once with an ex and had a horrible experience.”
“I didn’t know that you and Finn-,” Coma started, causing me to cut him off.
“Not Finn.”
Coma nodded at me in understanding before leading me back towards the guys. It was just me standing in a circle with all of the guys, minus Willoughby who decided to go smoke his joint in his room. They all began telling stories: Dale and Coma about what I have missed in the last few years; Plum, Brumley, and Jake about the past few days. I laughed harder than I have since freshman year when I spent time with the baseball team. I was bent over laughing and had my hand resting on Jake’s arm for support when someone abruptly walked over to our small group.
“Jake,” The voice called out with a slightly aggressive tone, causing all of us to jump slightly and turn in the voice's direction. I rolled my eyes at the sight of Finn and sighed as Plum and Brumley made a run for it, Coma and Dale sticking around just in case a fight broke out. “What uh- what the fuck is going on over here?”
Being a few drinks deep already, I wrapped my arm around Jake’s waist and smirked at Finn. “The guys were just entertaining me with some stories.”
“Yeah, we were. And that’s all that was happening,” Jake reassured Finn, unwrapping my arms from around him and placing them down by my sides.
Jake then made a break for it as well and left me behind with Finn, Coma, and Dale. I rolled my eyes at him and muttered “pussy” under my breath before looking back at Finn. He stared at me with his arms crossed over his chest, causing me to roll my eyes.
“What, Finnegan? Why are you staring at me,” I questioned him in annoyance.
“I don’t know. Why are you flirting with my teammates? Trying to make me jealous,” He asked me with a smirk.
“I will answer that as soon as you tell me where the fuck your sleeves went,” I said with a giggle, gesturing to his arms that weren’t covered by his flannel.
“Why? Last I recall you liked my arms,” He said with a smile instead of a smirk at the sound of my giggle.
I rolled my eyes again before looking at him. “I am not nearly drunk enough to deal with your ass,” I told him before walking away to refill my drink.
Tumblr media
I was wandering around the bottom floor of the house trying to find somebody I knew when I found the last person I wanted to in the kitchen flirting with a couple of girls. I stood behind him unimpressed as I watched him sprinkle some nuts over some kind of peach dessert he had sitting on the counter.
“It’s not about the ingredients, it’s about the way the ingredients make you feel. The experience,” He trailed off before dipping his finger in the whipped cream bucket. “That’s why I say, “Indulge in temptation.”
I shook my head at him and looked to my right when I heard Brumley's voice. I looked back over at Brum and snapped my fingers to get his attention. He walked over to me and I pointed him over to Finn with a smirk, causing one to take over his face as well as Finn turned away from the two girls with his finger held out and said he wasn’t watching. I struggled to hold in my laugh as Brumley walked over and sucked the whipped cream off of Finn’s finger. Finn immediately turned around and landed a punch on Brumley’s arm as I let my laughter out.
“Are you serious,” He questioned him aggressively as Brumley released noises of pain.
I held my stomach as my laughter increased. Finn landed another punch to Brumley’s arm before reaching back for one of his peach desserts and throwing it at the freshman. The two girls standing before him released a couple of laughs as well before walking away from Finn.
“That was the best shit I’ve seen in a while,” I said through my laughter, causing Finn to look over at me. I watched him roll his eyes and a slight pout came over his face, causing me to make an exaggerated pout back. “Aw, did we ruin your rap?”
“You know what-,” Finn started, but I cut him off.
“What,” I asked him with raised eyebrows, moving to stand directly before him. Finn stared down at me, the smooth-talking man for once speechless, keeping his mouth shut. “Tell me what I should know Finn,” I whispered to him, looking up at him innocently through my lashes.
“You’re not playing very fair,” Finn whispered back to me.
“Hm,” I hummed, looking over at his desserts. I brought my hand up and swiped my finger in the whipped cream before looking up at Finn. “Who said I was playing,” I asked him sweetly before bringing my finger to my mouth, sucking the whipped cream off as I maintained eye contact with the baseball player.
“You know, for someone who doesn’t want anything to do with me anymore, you sure have no problem with ruining my chances of a hookup,” He whispered to me as he leaned down closer to me.
I released a breathless laugh and took another sip of my liquid courage before speaking. “You ruin my night, I ruin yours.”
“So that’s the game we’re playing,” He asked me with raised brows.
“I didn’t realize there was a game,” I shrugged at him.
Finn moved to corner me against the counter, causing me to stare up at him as he placed his hands on both sides of me on the counter, thumbs hooking into the belt loops on the back of my shorts. Jake leaned down towards my ear and released a husky whisper.
“There was always a game with us,” He said in my ear.
As soon as the words left his lips I scoffed and pushed him away from me, the moment between us now ruined just like when we were dating. “No, Finn, there was always a game with you.” Finn looked at me in shock at my sudden mood change, causing me to roll my eyes. “I need some air.”
Tumblr media
I released a deep breath as I tried to breathe through the rising emotions. The reminder of what happened that night and the resurfacing of memories I have long since pushed away caused me to hide in the corner on the roof so I could be alone. Tears began to form in the corner of my eyes as I worked through what happened.
FRESHMAN YEAR, (Y/S)’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Claire and Sarah stood outside their fellow sister’s room as they listened to her fight with her boyfriend of 4 months, wondering if telling her about what her boyfriend's friends were doing downstairs was necessary.
“Maybe we should just handle it ourselves,” Claire offered up.
“We can, but that doesn’t change the fact that once whatever is going on in there is over, (Y/N) is going to need us,” Sarah argued with her.
Meanwhile, in (Y/N) bedroom, she and Finn were having an extremely heated argument that was getting worse by the minute.
“I can’t believe you would embarrass me like that, Finn. You know how important this party was for me and that it was important that I looked good in front of the other girls. Then you bring your fucking dumbass teammates with you and fucking flirt with one of my sisters,” (Y/N) shouted at the blonde baseball player, gesturing with her hands toward the bedroom door.
“You’re overreacting, (Y/N). It wasn’t like that,” Finn argued with her, his hands on his hips as he tried to remain calm in the face of her wrath.
“Then what was it, Finn? Tell me what it was that I witnessed downstairs. Tell me the excuse you have for having one of my sorority sisters straddling you and close to having her tongue down your throat,” She yelled at him, throwing her hands around in anger.
“She came onto me,” He yelled back, pointing from the door then back at himself.
(Y/N) paused, her face contorting from anger to utter disbelief. “Oh, don’t give me that fucking bullshit, Finn. You're not the victim here. You never are. This is not the first time I have seen you do this to me. Why do you think I refuse to go to Sound Machine anymore? You go there and you hit on other girls and dance with them and you act like I don’t even fucking exist or like I'm not supposed to care that my boyfriend is fine with flirting with other girls.”
Finn remained quiet and stared at (Y/N), causing her to continue.
“What is it, Finn? What do they have that I don’t? What keeps making you run to every other girl but me,” She interrogated.
“Well, for starters they put out,” He snapped, anger blazing in his eyes.
(Y/N) took a step back at the look in his eyes before she narrowed her own at the baseball player and felt the anger she was feeling increase tenfold. “That’s what this is about? That I won’t let you stick your average-sized dick anywhere you want?”
“No, it's about the fact that you won't even let me touch you. I lay a single finger on you or make any sort of move to take this to the next level, you pull away,” He yelled at her, throwing his arms around in his exasperation.
“That’s not true,” she argued with him.
“Yes, it is, (Y/N). Don’t even bother trying to deny it. I touch your tits and suddenly you have to study for a big exam. I kiss your neck and then you have this book you want to tell me about. You always change directions every time,” He yelled.
“Did you ever think that maybe I’m not ready for something like that? Or that, I don’t know, I don’t trust you enough to take that next step in our relationship,” she snapped at him.
Finn went quiet after, staring at (Y/N) before speaking in a sarcastic tone and throwing his hands up in the air. “And there it is.”
(Y/N) remained quiet, staring at Finn with tears building up in her eyes, wrapping her arms around herself.
“You’re scared and you don’t want to admit it to yourself so you’re taking it out on me,” He added.
“I am not scared and don’t you dare try and turn this around on me,” she yelled at him.
“Yes, you are scared, (Y/N). You’re scared and instead of sitting down with me and talking it through you push me away and get mad at me for looking somewhere else for attention,” He yelled with a shrug.
“No, I don’t, Finn. Okay? I love you, but you never give me any indication that you love me,” She yelled, tears beginning to stream down her face.
“What do you want me to do, stand in the middle of the quad and declare my undying love for you,” He shouted, his face turning red in frustration.
“No,” (Y/N) yelled back.
“Then what do you want from me,” He snapped.
“I want you to say it! You never say it, Finn! And when we’re in public it’s like you’re a completely different person! You’re not affectionate, you don’t hold my hand, you don’t hug me or put your arm around me,” She sobbed. “I tell you I love you all the time and you never respond. Do you know how embarrassing that is when I say it in front of your teammates or my sisters and you just give me a “Yep” in response?”
“I do love you,” He shrugged at her.
“Then prove it to me,” She requested.
Finn went silent again and stared at (Y/N) for a moment before shaking his head at her.
“You know what, I don’t have time for this. I don’t have time for the constant back and forth, and I don’t have time for you,” Finn said with finality, beginning to walk towards the bedroom door.
“Finn, you don’t mean that,” She yelled after him.
“Yes, (Y/N), I do,” He said, standing by the door.
“Finn, if you walk out that door-,” (Y/N) started, trying to stop him.
“What, (Y/N)? What will happen,” He asked sarcastically, turning to look at her.
She stayed silent, tear streaks covering her face, mascara running under her eyes.
“Exactly. I’m going to go downstairs, and I’m going to enjoy the rest of the party with my teammates. Who knows, maybe I still got a chance with that sister you found me with. She seemed like a good time, and seemed like she would do anything I asked her to,” Finn shrugged at her.
All (Y/N) could see was red at his words, tears building up once again at his careless attitude. The only thing she could think to do was grab the first thing she could get her hands on.
“I can go and tell Mel to handle it,” Claire offered again, referencing the rowdy baseball players downstairs.
Sarah opened her mouth to deny her but stopped when she heard her sorority sister yell at her boyfriend and what sounded like something being thrown against the wall. The door opened right after and said guy stepped out into the hallway, their sister's harsh words spilling out of the door behind him.
“Fuck you, Finn. You’re nothing but a selfish, disrespectful, misogynistic asshole. I never want to see or speak to you again. We’re through, get the fuck out.”
“Fine by me, sweetheart,” He yelled back at her.
Finn slammed the door behind him and turned around to see the two girls standing in front of him. He was breathing heavily from the battle he just suffered through in (Y/N)’s bedroom, and the young girl's sobs could be heard through the bedroom door. The two girls both looked to the side awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with him as he looked between the two of them. All he could bring himself to do was take a deep breath and try to fight off the tears that were building up in his own eyes. He released his breath in the form of a sigh before stepping past the two girls and walking down the stairs, gathering his teammates and forcing them out the door of the sorority house.
Meanwhile, back in (Y/N)’s room, said girl was sitting on the floor leaning against her bed sobbing at the loss of her boyfriend. He wasn’t her first love, but he was the first guy she loved with all of her heart and soul. She allowed herself to wallow in her sorrows for a moment before standing up and walking over to her vanity. She frantically wiped at her face, taking deep breaths in an attempt to quell her sobs, and looked in the mirror. She continued taking deep breaths before standing from her vanity and walking over to her bedroom door, ready to make the best of the rest of the night and rejoin the party. However, she stopped in her tracks at the door and looked down at the now-broken object she had thrown at Finn. Her tears built up in her eyes once again and she dropped down to her knees when she noticed she threw her picture of the two of them. She gripped the frame in her hands and shakily picked it up from the floor taking in the two smiling faces, her arms wrapped around his arm as he just looked somewhere else, most likely at one of his teammates. Her smile was small, her head resting on his shoulder as she looked up at Finn with adoration. She began to sob again as she carefully took the picture out of the frame, staring down at it as her door opened up. She looked up to see Claire and Sarah staring down at her, the two girls frowning at her in pity as she sobbed harder, dropping the frame and picture on the floor. The two girls stepped into the room and closed the door behind them, being careful of the glass on the floor as they both knelt beside their sister, wrapping their arms around her.
1980, BASEBALL HOUSE PARTY
I took a deep breath in as a few tears slipped from my eyes. Releasing a slow breath as I wiped them from my face. I took a few more deep breaths and stayed huddled up in my corner when I heard other people coming out on the roof with me. I looked around the corner to see Finn and Willoughby climbing out and holding golf clubs in their hand.
“God damn it,” I sighed in frustration, hitting the back of my head against the side of the house.
I heard footsteps begin making their way towards where I was sitting and leaned my head back against the side of the house. Looking up and to the left at the person next to me.
“Finnegan,” I greeted, bringing my cup up and taking a gulp of my drink.
“What are you doing out here, sweetheart,” He asked me with a smirk.
“Avoiding you. But apparently, I can’t even come outside to do that,” I said honestly, giving him a sarcastic smile.
Finn scoffed and shook his head at me. “You couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.”
I rolled my eyes and looked back down at my lap, swirling the liquid inside my cup as entertainment before I drained the rest of it. I carelessly tossed the cup onto the roof before attempting to stand from my seated position, almost falling over in the process and falling off the roof, causing Finn to quickly grab me and support me.
“Careful, (Y/N). We don’t need the police called to our house before the school year even starts,” Finn warned me.
“I’m fine,” I slurred out, leaning against him.
“Mhm, I’m sure. Look how about you come over here and sit with Willoughby and me, watch us hit some beer cans off the roof, and I’ll have Coma get you some water,” He offered up, helping me walk over and setting me down on the recliner that somebody brought out on the roof.
“Ooh, water sounds good right now,” I moaned out, sitting down in the chair and relaxing.
“I bet it does. Coma, care to get our guest some water,” Finn called out to the baseball player.
“For (Y/N) I’ll do just about anything,” he told Finn before climbing back inside.
“Hey, watch it,” He called after his teammate, causing Coma to roll his eyes.
“You need to stop being so jealous,” I lectured, frowning up at him.
“Why is that,” Finn asked me with a smirk.
“Because you aren’t my boyfriend. You haven’t been for 2 years now,” I reminded him.
Finn’s smirk faded and was taken over by a frown. “Yeah, and they’ve been the worst 2 years of my life.”
My face softened and I looked up at him apologetically. I reached forward and hesitantly placed my hand in his own, squeezing it. Finn looked down at our hands, moving his hand to intertwine with my own.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that,” I apologized.
Finn opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by Coma stepping back out of the window and handing me some water. I gave him a thankful smile and brought the cup to my lips to take a drink.
“Thank you, Coma.”
“You’re welcome, darling,” He told him standing next to me as Finn released my hand and grabbed his golf club from where it was sitting next to my seat.
“Watch and be impressed sweetheart,” Finn told me, turning to face Willoughby who was patiently waiting for him while smoking a joint.
“So, where is the flag,” Willoughby asked Finn, referencing their target.
“Right there, Volkswagen,” Finn told him, pointing out into the yard at the vehicle.
“Oh, there’s the flag,” Willoughby said, handing Coma his and Finn’s cups before grabbing his cup and positioning himself.
Finn followed his lead, the two of them facing each other as they readied their show.
“Ready? Aim…,” Willoughby trailed off.
“Fire,” The two said together, looking at each other before hitting the beer cans.
I watched the cans fly before hitting the flag the two boys were speaking of. I was genuinely impressed and began clapping for the two boys, the two of them joining me as well.
“You’re a natural,” Finn told Willoughby.
“Thank you,” He nodded at Finn.
I watched the two continue hitting beer cans off the roof for about 30 more minutes until they ran out. After this Willoughby made his exit back inside along with Coma and Finn walked over to me.
“Alright, sweetheart, let’s go,” he told me, grabbing both of my hands and pulling me up out of my seat.
“I want more water,” I told him.
“I’ll get you more water, don’t worry,” He reassured me, helping me climb in before following after me.
He led me down the stairs and into the kitchen, taking my empty cup out of my hand and filling it from the sink. He handed it back to me and I gave him a thankful look before drinking some more. He then wrapped his arm around me and led me outside once again, leading me down the porch steps and setting me down on the last one.
“Sit here, sweetheart, and don’t move. I’ll be right back. There is about to be some good entertainment and I have to go work some magic beforehand,” He told me with a smirk.
“Meaning you need to go flirt with some girls,” I slurred out, rolling my eyes. “I don’t even want to know what you have planned.”
“It’ll be good, I promise. And they mean nothing to me compared to you,” He told me before placing a brief kiss on my head and then rushing off.
Tumblr media
About 15 minutes later Finn was escorting a couple of girls outside. I watched the two walk by before Finn stopped by me and looked down at me. I looked up at him with a raised eyebrow as he helped me up and led me over to where the two girls were taking off their clothes.
“What the fuck is going on here,” I asked in confusion.
“Mud wrestling,” He said simply as the other partygoers began gathering around us.
Nes, Coma, and Brumley came to stand by Finn and me. I looked across the way to see Jake and Plum standing together and Claire and Sarah sitting with McReynolds and Roper a couple of people over. To my right, I saw Niles and Willoughby pull a couple of chairs up to watch.
“Competitor’s ready,” Finn asked the two girls. The two nodded at him and he shouted an enthusiastic “Go!”
Everybody, including myself, began cheering the two girls on, watching them wrestle and grapple with each other as they tried to pin each other to the ground. Finn wrapped his arm around me as I jumped up and down, cheering the two on with glee. He smiled over at me and did what I call his “happy feet” dance as he let out a whoop. Eventually, the two’s match ended and the one girl climbed out. However, after she climbed out, Nes thought he would try his hand with the winner and stripped out of his shirt, jumping into the mud with the girl. He stood across from her and chugged his beer before chucking the empty can behind him. Coma and Finn leaned in and let out yells of encouragement at their friend.
“He’s going to lose,” I yelled to Finn.
“Obviously,” Finn yelled back to me before focusing back on the two.
Nes leaned down and grabbed some of the mud, rubbing it across his face and chest like tribal paint.
“Come on baby,” Nes yelled out before rushing at the girl.
The girl easily grabbed him and threw him down on his back, flipping him over. Nes climbed up from the ground and the girl grabbed him and threw him on his back once again. Nes got to his hands and knees and the girl grabbed him and began spanking him before flipping him over, climbing on top of him, and throwing the mud in his face. I winced as some of it got in his mouth before he finally tapped out and the girl climbed off of him.
I couldn’t help but laugh in amusement and cheer on the girl before Finn finished off his beer and looked over at me.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s get you inside again,” He told me, leading me back inside the house.
Tumblr media
I couldn’t stop giggling as I stumbled over my feet into Finn’s room. The baseball player let out huffs of amusement as he assisted me into his bed. Helping me to kick my Converse off and slide my jacket off my arms. I watched Finn place my shoes neatly on the floor next to his bed and fold my jacket in half before draping it over his desk chair. He then grabbed the blanket folded at the end of his bed and unfolded it before gently laying it over me.
“Nes had his ass completely handed to him by that chick,” I laughed in amusement, shaking my head as I stared at the ceiling and pulled the blanket tighter around me.
“I think he underestimated her,” Finn said with a laugh, moving to sit on the floor next to the bed.
Finn rested his back against the bed and let his head rest back on the side of it as well. I reached down with a scoff and began running my hands through his hair as I spoke.
“Sounds about right. You men underestimate us women all the time,” I hummed as Finn pushed his head further into my hand.
“Not all of us men do,” Finn tried to reassure me.
“True. Some of you have a good head on your shoulders,” I said in agreement, gripping his hair in my hand and giving a slight tug to make him turn his head towards me. “Even you. As much as I hate to admit it.”
Finn scoffed back at me and shook his head. He reached up to grab my hand from his hair and intertwined my fingers with his instead. “You're only saying that 'cause you’re drunk.”
“Hm, maybe,” I shrugged at him before directing my gaze throughout the space. Finn watched me look around his room a bit before setting my eyes on his bedside table. I breathed in a sharp breath when I saw the picture of him and me (a candid of me kissing his cheek while he laughed taken by one of my sorority sisters) sitting there and staring me in the face. His Christmas present I gave him the night before everything happened. “You still have it?”
“I couldn’t get rid of it,” Finn told me honestly, rubbing his thumb over my hand.
I hummed a laugh to myself. “I couldn’t get rid of mine either. It’s tucked between the pages of my journal from that year. Sometimes I look at it and read over everything I wrote. Try and figure out where it all went wrong.”
Finn let out a scoff and squeezed my hand. “You know where it all went wrong.”
“Exactly,” I whispered, hoping he understood my underlying message of ‘I wish you did too.’
There was a few seconds of silence before Finn pushed himself off of the floor and moved to sit next to me in his bed. I didn’t take my eyes off the picture of us as he started delicately running his fingers through my hair.
“You know, I lied the other day,” Finn told me softly.
“Hm,” I hummed at him in confusion, looking at him with furrowed brows.
“I do remember that night. I remember every word that I said and that I made you cry. I remember it all and I regret everything,” He told me, looking into my eyes.
“Why did you lie,” I asked him curiously.
Finn looked down and intertwined his other hand in mine. “Because I hate the person that I was that night, and I never wanted to think about it again. What I did and what I said… I promised myself I was never going to be that way again. That’s why I changed. Because I promised myself that if I did, and you happened to take me back, then I was going to treat you better than any other guy possibly could and put you up on the pedestal you deserved to be on.”
I sighed and sat up in his bed. I brought my free hand up and placed it on his cheek, moving his head so he would look at me.
“So you remember why we fought in the first place? And that it was a long time coming,” I asked him, rubbing my thumb over his cheekbone.
Finn nodded at me and sighed. I nodded back at him and wrapped my hand around his neck, lacing my fingers in the hair at the back of his neck. “I was happy with you, Finn. But you weren’t happy with me. You wanted someone who would have sex with you anytime you wanted, and I was the exact opposite. And I wanted somebody who respected my decisions and what I wanted, and you were the exact opposite.”
Finn looked at me sadly before speaking. “I was a cocky, horny 18-year-old, who couldn’t fathom the thought of someone not wanting to have sex with him. Who didn’t want to attempt to understand why the girl he was absolutely in love with didn’t want to completely give herself to him. So, instead of attempting to understand and work through it with her and tell her how he truly felt about her, he went and treated her like shit. He hit on other girls and told himself that it was okay because things were likely not going to work out anyways.”
I sighed and ran my fingers through the hair at the back of his head in a soothing manner.
“And I was a hopeful, naive 18-year-old who was experiencing love for the first time, despite having relationships before ours. Who was too scared to talk about how she was feeling mistreated out of fear of the guy she loved leaving her and in turn scared to give herself over to him completely.”
“Wow, we were fucked up. Weren’t we,” Finn said, causing me to laugh and nod at him.
“Yeah, we were,” I said in agreement, looking down at my lap. “But I think us breaking up then was for the best.”
Finn looked up at me with hurt in his eyes.
“Not for the reason you’re thinking. I think that we were meant to break up then, so we could become who we are now. So we would be a better fit for each other when we came back together,” I explained softly.
“Back together,” Finn questioned me eagerly.
“Yeah,” I whispered to him, a smile taking over my face.
“Oh thank god,” Finn said in relief before cupping my face in his own and placing his lips against my own.
I couldn't help but smile as we continued kissing each other, him smiling as well shortly after. We continued placing our lips against each other, his mustache rubbing against my face just as I remembered it did Freshman year. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned back, bringing him over me as we continued kissing. Finn moved to hover over me and I broke away from the kiss, the two of us leaning our foreheads against each other. Finn began peppering kisses across my face and neck, his grin growing at my giggling.
“What are you doing,” I asked him through my giggles.
“I have almost 3 whole years to make up for not being able to kiss you,” Finn told me, continuing his assault.
“Well, can you continue you tomorrow? I’m tired,” I asked him in amusement.
Finn pulled away and looked up at me with a pout. “Fine.”
Finn moved and lay on his side next to me. I rolled my eyes at his childish antics and turned on my side so my back was facing him. Finn threw his arm over my waist and pulled me closer to him, nuzzling his face in my neck and taking a deep breath.
“Good night, (Y/N),” He whispered to me.
“Good night, Walt,” I whispered back to him, feeling his grin widen as the two of us drifted off to sleep.

Nightingales are scarce and even more so fleeting, never lingering in one place for too long, always preparing for their next flight. Along with them they bring their lovely sounds, endlessly singing their tunes that humans could only wish to understand.
Small and agile, they are quick to slip away, as if holding sand in your hand. Coupled with their tendency of moving often, the nightingale is a bird that few have managed to see, and even fewer have managed to hold. Sunday was one of them, once upon a time.
He knew of a nightingale who seemed to enjoy his company, often playing with him and accompanying him when he needed a friend. This nightingale was gentle and kind, it stayed by his side without complaint or question, and even looked happy to do so. In all his joys and sorrows, pleasures and pains, this nightingale was with him, perched on his shoulder obediently, a companion that he so desperately needed.
However, caging a bird no matter its species is perhaps one of the most sacrilegious things a person could do. They long for freedom, to feel the wind against their feathers, to explore the boundless skies; if a bird’s wings are clipped, if they are caged and unable to fly freely, can they truly be called a bird?
When you flew away, he was stunned. You flew far beyond his grasp, no longer willing to be perched on his shoulder obediently, and he had never seen you again since. Not in person, in Penacony, at least. You, who became a renowned actor, schedule always filled to the brim with no time for rest, always on to your next big hit.
Sunday watches you on televisions screens and sees your face plastered on billboards, as you’ve become the pride of Penacony for acting in the same way Robin has for singing. Both of you took flight and left the nest, and he is the only one who remains, waiting for the fateful day you return home, back to him.
When months turn to years, and there’s no sign of you, is when he gets anxious. He has no way to contact you without having to go through the Iris Family first, and you have never written to him. He doesn’t know where you are, or where to even start looking for you, and his duties as the head of the Oak Family mean that he doesn’t even have any opportunity to search through the cosmos for you. It worries him, and it makes him uncomfortable; what if you got hurt? What if you were sad? Who would comfort you?
Sunday feels like he’s going crazy when he reads a gossip article about your potential relationship. Even as his pen crunches and breaks in his hand, as the ink soaks into his pristine white gloves and stains his hand and the papers beneath, he can only focus on reading the same few words on the bright screen.
Only when the distinct taste of iron floods his mouth does he realise the mess he created on the table, promptly swiping off the clearly clickbait headline and taking a deep breath. You wouldn’t betray him like that, he knows you wouldn’t. (Of course you wouldn’t. Right?)
When invites for the Charmony Festival are sent, he takes the time to personally prepare your invite, even leaving in a dried red orchid he procured just for you. He knows you’ll accept the invite, but he still can’t shake the feeling of doubt and fear. There was always the possibility… No, you wouldn’t. He knows you wouldn’t. (Would you?)
Even as word of your acceptance reaches his ears, he still lives with bated breath, as if he’s constantly afraid something will happen. Logically, he knows that you’re not one to back down on your word so there is nothing to worry about, but somehow, somehow - something doesn’t feel right, like a pipe slowly leaking water. It’s only a matter of time before it breaks completely, but he’s left guessing and at the mercy of the Aeons, something far beyond his control, and he doesn’t like that. He doesn’t like it at all.
Ever since you left, he’s always had this uncomfortable feeling in his chest. He feels, or rather, he knows, that you belong with him, by his side as his lover, his everything. To have let you slip from his fingers so easily, so quickly was an oversight on his part - he was foolish to think that you would stay. Your promises were naught but honeyed lies, a treason he could never forgive.
When news of your arrival reached his ears, he was quick to arrive at the reception in the Reverie in reality to greet you. Sunday had personally requested to be your main contact for the duration of your stay, even as mounds of paperwork piled up on his desk. You, who he had not seen for so many years, stood in front of him as beautiful as the day you opened your wings and took flight, and left him alone in loneliness he thought he’d spend with you.
“(Y/n),” he breathes out, relief seeping through his words as he bows and takes your hand in his. Sunday cranes his neck to look into your eyes as he brings your knuckles to his lips, and in front of hundreds of guests and staff members, he presses a kiss that lingers for far too long to be considered chaste on your skin.
Whispers immediately flood the area, phones taken out to film the scene, and Sunday still refuses to let your hand go. Even as you tug as gently as you can, and even as you give him a clearly strained smile, he doesn’t pay them any mind and walks away while pulling you along. While you worry about the rumors that are bound to surface from such a blatant display, he seems as though he could care less.
“Sunday! What was that about?!” You finally confront him as he brings you to what you can only assume is meant to be your room, but he takes his time to close the door and take a seat on a couch. He is smiling.
“What do you mean?” Sunday cocks his head to the side innocently, as though unaware of the meaning of his actions. He even has the gall to pat the space next to him, wordlessly inviting you to take a seat, next to him no less. “Is it wrong to greet my dearest friend, of whom I have not seen for many years?”
If Sunday knows you, after all these years…
“…W-well, I just didn’t expect that you’d do it like that…”
He knows that you’ll always, always, fold to him.
“I couldn’t have our first meeting after so long be anything less than memorable.” He chuckles as you timidly take your seat next to him, his wings fluttering ever so slightly.
“About that…” You clearly hesitate to say your next words, shadows of guilt creeping onto your face as you stare at your lap. “I know it’s been a long time, but I want to say… sorry for leaving you without telling you. I wanted to, really, but Maeven said it would be for the best and I, well, I couldn’t really talk back to her, could I? You know I always wanted to be a movie star, and- and she offered me that chance, who knows if it would ever come back? I just, I’m sorry, I didn’t -”
“Breathe, (Y/n).” He takes your hands in his, looking at you with a soft smile. You looked so frightened, like a bunny facing a big wolf and knowing there was no escape. “I’m not mad at you.”
“Ah, um, are you sure? It’s okay to be mad at me, I deserve it, so please don’t hold back on me just because we’re friends-”
“I really mean it when I say I’m not mad.” Sunday’s smile is pure and angelic, and it brings you comfort in a way you haven’t felt since you left. For a moment, the universe stops, and you lose yourself in this peace. It feels like breathing, after drowning for so long.
You let him hold you as tears start to stream down your face, and soon you’ve started crying for a reason you’re not quite sure of yourself. Despite this, Sunday says nothing and merely hugs you warmly and gently, and you think that perhaps what you’ve missed the most about Penacony is him.
So when Sunday coaxes you into taking a trip into the Dreamscape, you obediently follow his words, and when he brings you to Dewlight Pavilion, to his private office, you don’t question a single thing. He’s still the Sunday you’ve known since you were a child, the Sunday who played with you and the Sunday you laughed and smiled with, the one you made promises to.
When he tells you to take a rest in his office, to let go of all of your stresses and loosen up, you see no reason to be apprehensive of him, and with a nod you do as he advises. Sunday would never want to hurt you.
When you allow yourself to let go of your worries and embrace the warmth of slumber, and when you wake up in a room not yours but somehow also yours, with a raging headache and gaps in your memory, and when Sunday says that you’re married, that you’ve been sick for a long time, that you often forget and forget but it’s okay because he always remembers for you, you believe him. It’s easier to believe him when he tells you the medicine he’s giving you is to aid your recovery than to try and think of anything else.
It’s easier when he’s all that you know.

HES Trio Headcanons (the third)
Tumblr media
That's right guys, another one (my brain is rotted). These three live in my head rent free
some the Shane ones are sad again, sorry
Elliott
-had a pet hermit crab as a kid, he's always been a friend of the crabs!
- prefers fancy, decorative candles to scented ones. The prettier the better!
- trying his best to make his room look like Howls from Howls Moving Castle. That clutter of beautiful trinkets is exactly what he wants for a setup
- loves wearing his hair in braids, but is terrible at doing braids on himself. He usually asks Leah
- Willy is like a father to him. His bio father was not a kind man, and Willy is everything he wished his father could be and more
- Willy taught him how to fish too, and he's actually pretty good at it!
- very into a "method acting" style of writing, as in he'll live like a character he's trying to write for a while until he feels like he can realistically interpret them in his writing
- faked a British accent for about a month in middle school because he thought it sounded very sophisticated and artsy
Harvey
- won't tell anyone, but he enjoys little Saturday morning cartoons now and then. It reminds him of the moments of joy he felt when he was little and he cherishes that
- tried to shave off his mustache once and seeing how he looked without it scared him so bad he vowed not to do it again. It looks so bad 😭💔
- wears that Ebenezer scrooge lookin nightgown and cap unironically, swears that it helps him sleep better
- lactose intolerant and has a gluten allergy. He doesn't like cheese and baked goods because of it, they make him really sick
- that being said, if u made/bought him gluten free stuff he would act like he owes his life to you
- once he was at the library at the same time Penny was tutoring the kids. It was during free reading time and Vincent told him he looked like a character in the book he was reading. It was Geronimo Stilton. Harvey has still not recovered from that
- really wanted siblings as a little kid but never had them, so he created an imaginary friend for himself and pretended to go on aviation missions with them
- has a lil gap between his front teeth, he gets a bit shy about it, but it's cute when he smiles and you can see it
Shane
- I changed my height headcanon, bro is 5'3 now
- his ENTIRE family is very short, his mom and Marnie are 5'0. Jas' parents were tall though so once she's older she's absolutely towering over Marnie and Shane
- had very long hair before taking in Jas. For many reasons, especially maintenance, he's kept it short since adopting her
- Him stealing food from Joja is a habit built from necessity, from the time before he moved back in with Marnie. He got to the point financially that he was often stealing food for him and Jas, because he was often forced to choose between groceries and paying rent.
- he's not a vegetarian, but he refuses to eat chicken specifically. Everytime he tries, he just can't bring himself to do it. He loves chickens too much
- even then, he still ate very little. Stealing was risky and he wanted to make sure Jas was given what she needed first. He always had her eat first, and would eat whatever she didn't, like crusts or veggies she didn't like. The night he moved back in with Marnie was the first time he had an actual meal in about a year
- After he starts recovery, he tries to be better friends with Penny given that she's Jas' teacher. She isn't very interested in being close with him, but he still tries to be friendly
- has an arsenal of dad jokes at the ready at any given moment, you are not prepared for how corny this man gets
- forever salty that LEWIS of all people is beating him on the junimo kart leaderboards
- He and Sam have a workplace besties kinda relationship. They still stay pretty good friends after Joja closes, Shane goes to all of his bands shows to show support
- the only festivals he really cares about are the egg festival, luau and Stardew valley fair. The rest he'll go to because it makes Jas and Marnie happy, but those three he has a passion for

Haldir Headcanons
pairing: Haldir x gn!Reader
summary: relationship headcanons with Haldir of Lórien. [SFW]
word count: 789
warnings: none, fluff
∾∾∘⋅∗⋄⋆⋄∗⋅∘∾∾
- He is such a chill boyfriend.
- He’s the epitome of calm like 99% of the time and it really brings stability to your relationship.
- He seems pretty serious, and he is, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be fun. His humor is definitely dry, but once you get it, you get it and you’re always cracking up because he always makes the right joke at just the right moment.
- He can be pretty quiet so a lot of your time spent together will most likely be in comfortable silence.
- I think he’d prefer to show his love via quality time and words of affirmation. While his words of affirmation may not be spoken very often, they are always heavy with sincerity and very personal to you and your relationship.
- Haldir definitely likes using pet names like “my darling” or “meleth” or “sweetheart” and he uses them quite often, even in public. He also has nicknames for you that come from inside jokes, but he usually saves those for more private company.
- Haldir just loves spending time with you, he doesn’t care so much about what you’re doing, as long as you’re together. He’s happy just sitting quietly at home, doing your own things in the same room, or going out to do an activity. So long as the two of you are together, and you’re happy, he’s happy.
- Haldir likes to see you smile. Just seeing you smile brightens his day and makes him so much happier. He likes to tell you that your smile shines brighter than all the lights in Lothlórien. When he’s coming home from patrol, he’s actually looking forward to seeing your face while you're smiling. There’s something about the light in your face when you’re grinning that makes his heart pick up its pace.
- Haldir isn’t super great at communication though. Being quiet is his nature, and that can include his feelings. It’s kind of a slow start for you in getting him to open up. It still takes effort sometimes too, he just naturally keeps things to himself. This has been a point of some arguments, but both of you dislike fighting and understand what to do to avoid such things. So fortunately, actual arguments are few and far between.
- Haldir doesn’t like PDA. He’s quite professional and private so PDA doesn’t really mix with him. He doesn’t ignore or avoid you in public, just don’t expect big displays of affection because he’s not very comfortable with that. But, if the two of you have spent a lengthy amount of time apart, he’ll hold your hand in public and maybe even give you a chaste forehead kiss because he missed you.
- Haldir is surprisingly passionate, especially after he’s been away from you for a while. His passion can appear a little different though. For example, sometimes he’ll kiss you with desperate fervor and fire, but other times he’ll kiss you slowly and deeply but still with equal passion. His heart is always present in all his actions with you
- Haldir doesn’t drink a lot, but during festivals or other celebrations he’ll sometimes indulge and when he does, all he talks about is you. Haldir will drunkenly ramble about how pretty you are, how intelligent you are, how talented you are, etc etc. Those around him will find it equal parts endearing and annoying. His pale cheeks would be dusted with pink from both alcohol and thoughts of you.
- Haldir would be super happy with getting domestic with you. He loves those simple moments; getting groceries from the market, going shopping for your individual hobbies, doing the laundry, cooking. Haldir loves to be domestic with you.
- Haldir is very attentive to your needs. He may not say it or outwardly express it, but you can tell by his actions. If you’re sad, your favorite snacks will appear out of nowhere. If you ran out of supplies for a hobby or finished a book, new supplies or a new book will show up on your nightstand without a word. Whatever it is you need, Haldir notices and quietly takes care of it. He may not always be able to do it since he’s quite busy as Marchwarden, but when he has the chance, he takes care of all your needs.
- Haldir feels like he’s always falling in love with you. There will be moments when the two of you are together and he’ll just take you in and get that sensation of falling in love all over again. He’ll never get sick of it either, it’s one the greatest joys of his day.
- Haldir loves you so much, it’s a quiet kind of love but it’s strong all the same. He does everything he can to make sure you know that everyday. One of the things he’s proudest of in his life is his relationship with you. He prays to Eru that he’ll be with you until the end of Arda, so long as you’ll have him.
