- usually he would just state he’s seen it or doesn’t care for it, but he’s breaking habits if it’s something you’re visibly excited about

- of course he’s happy to rewatch it though

- “no, I don’t know about it, is it good?” he’s seen the movie four times

- alan the type of man to stare at you blankly and resist the urge to add his own opinions and facts, but stays quiet for the plot

- he does genuinely enjoy having you so vocal about a subject you’re so passionate about, you’re somehow one of the only people he doesn’t get too overstimulated around, plus this way he doesn’t have to talk as much

- the day you offered a movie marathon at his place was a turning point, him taking the day off before just so he can clean and make the place acceptable, going the lengths to get usual movie snacks and blankets and such. this, and him hiding his books and dvds so that you wouldn’t stumble on them and find out he’s been pretending this entire time

- for the sake of the plot we’re ignoring alan being a morning person, in this universe he’s a night owl hence the eye bags

- the marathon goes on for later in the night than you both anticipated, after the first several hours and rambles of explaining you find yourself more and more tired and you pause the movies less and less

- it doesn’t take Alan long to notice that you fell asleep just like that, the blanket around the two of you and the bowl of chips discarded beside you

- he doesn’t care about that though, what he does care about is your head centimeters away from his shoulder

- not feeling even a little tired, he pauses the movie and carefully grabs his phone, sure not to move himself or you and writes down the time and place he paused, sure that you’d want to continue in the morning or another day. he’s also sure to write a small summary of where you two left off, now that you both “watched it together” he can talk back in infodump conversations and not give away that he knows the parts you two didn’t watch

- he’s quick to move when you shift in your sleep, him carefully but rapidly moving his hand from between you two and scooping his shoulder right under your head. you didn’t seem to wake or notice, a small lazy smile of success on his face as the two of you spend the rest of the night on the couch, him on his phone and you resting peacefully on his shoulder.

star trek update time. monday we watched ds9's "in purgatory's shadow" (ohio edition), "by inferno's light" (ohio edition), and "doctor bashir, i presume" (ohio edition), which did blow my tits clean off, and then last night we watched voy's "unity" and "darkling" (south carolina editions, sadly).

kira and odo's little moment at the beginning of this episode 🥺 he was soooo embarrassed to be caught attempting to try and learn how to snag a spouse but she didn't judge even a little. girl, break up with your stupid ass boyfriend. odo is right here

i really loved bashir pointing the phaser at garak when he figured garak was lying. i was like oh damn he knows him so well and i love when this twink has had enough and becomes a little evil BUT THEN IT LITERALLY WASN'T HIM! what an incredible plot twist. we literally had to pause the episode and work out the timelines to see how long we had been living with changeling bashir. it was sooo good and i wasn't expecting it at all. mwah

jadzia and worf are so good. her personality being settled into like, comic relief makes for such a good match to his whole straight man aura. obviously she taunts him with his klingon operas. please.

i do NOT like whatever they are doing with garak and ziyal. first of all, he's gay. secondly, she is like at LEAST 20 years younger than him. i want to trust them but after jake dating all those older women i am so suspicious

VERY cool to see martok again - totally unexpected

our last wonderful surprise of this ep was tain being garak's DAD- it makes so much sense and puts so much into perspective, and, hi, JULIAN WAS IN THE ROOM DURING THIS. garak could have asked him to leave and he would have. garak could have told tain he was there. but he didn't, because he wanted the moral support, and because he wanted julian to know something true about him. AUUUGHGHGH

like, we haven't had NEARLY enough garashir since s2, but this was SUCH a good moment, even though it feels like they're trying to backpedal on that too. what a series of plot twists for this ep 10/10

garak's claustrophobia <3 absolutely loooved this especially since julian had to go in and get him. bangs tankard on table MORE GARASHIR! there literally has NOT been enough. i would love to know more about tzenketh but i know they will never ever tell us but wow <3

i am SO tired of seeing worf lose fights this episode was fucking great. not only did he not lose any fights except under an extremely unfair circumstances he totally kicked ass even while injured. FINALLY. even that jem'hadar guy was like i can kill him but i can't defeat him so i give up. SOOOO true finally let's respect my boy worf. why don't you bitches call him a pussy NOW

anyway, the little moment worf and garak had at the end of this episode...mwah. put them on the fuck chart

overall these two episodes were incredibly good even though the strong action-y episodes are usually not ds9's forte. absolutely baller content for everyone except ziyal. i will at least take comfort in the fact that garak looked very uncomfortable to be hugged

i'm mad garak wasn't in it. AUGHGHGH

okay, my main beef with this one was pacing...i thought they resolved the problem extremely quickly after the cat was out of the bag, and it's because they spent so much time on the doctor and leeta and rom. which would have been a GREAT b-plot for any other episode, i LOVE leeta and rom and i was cheering for him the whole time, but even though the EMH (sorta) cameo was very welcome, i do not welcome it at the expense of time taken from one of the most pivotal episodes for julian bashir probably in this whole series, especially when i have the sneaking suspicion that it won't be brought up again

and i did LIKE the resolution of this episode, his parents paying for what they'd done, but it didn't feel like he got to sit with it for long enough, and it certainly felt like we skipped over a few pivotal moments - the scene where he found out his best friend knows could have been EXTREMELY meaty. is he afraid of judgement? is he angry? is he worried miles will be angry? etc. but we just kind of breezed right on by it. like, i loved the way miles sat and let him get it out of his system in a fun inverse of julian talking him down from suicide but we could have had SOOO much more

anyway side from that i love. I LOVE. holy shit

like, i can't even talk about the episode itself, just this entire concept. like, they did essentially kill their kid. they made him the way he is, a new kid, and then hated him for the way he is. SPOCK CORE. and then to find that out as a teenager...

like, you know he had to google "does being genetically enhanced make me a bad person" and then of course what google spits out is "did you know about khan noonien singh and would you like to?" and he was like Oh No

like, he went into MEDICINE. and i know he had other reasons and all but he went into MEDICINE because that's the most harmless you can possibly be. he's using all his ill-gotten brainpower to HEAL PEOPLE because his first reaction was to not want to be khan...2! you can enhance genetics but just like o'brien said that can't grow compassion, which is what makes julian who he is

I WISH GARAK HAD BEEN THERE.

anyway, i will continue to think about dr bashir for a very long time and he definitely just rose a couple of notches in my character ranking

i actually liked this one a lot. i love borg eps and i'm fascinated by a post-borg life lived by these people

that said, this lady gave off SUCH evil vibes that even after the truth was revealed and she and chakotay fucked i kept waiting for her to stab him in the back. which only kind of happened i guess

also, :( that chakotay is out here running around on janeway. SAD

i did love the borg meld scene though. it was incredibly scary. and i was TWIRLING MY HAIR when he got possessed or whatever the fuck

it was also so fun that he spent half of this episode dazed and stumbling around because of his little head injury. excellent material overall

oh yeah and i KNEW that corpse was gonna wake back up. i think it's so terrifying that when you're borg, even if you die, you aren't done. you can be revived because nothing kills you, not even the vacuum of space. that is easily the most horrifying part of it all

i also really liked chakotay and janeway's moment at the end. like, she was distrustful the entire time and he was too trusting, as he tends to sometimes be, and then at the end she was like aw but they weren't so bad and he was like [thousand yard stare of guy who has fucked 2! women who later betrayed him and has now been radicalized against the borg]

like i'm not saying it wasn't 99% consensual with riley or seska but i AM saying that he was hopped up on the borg meld when he fucked riley and later riley was willing to use chakotay's body for her own means when push came to shove and i'm saying that seska knew full well the whole time it was happening that it was under completely false pretenses and she stole his dna without his consent to make a baby he also didn't consent to, even if it turned out she fucked up and got that kaxon baby instead. like, chakotay better be careful or he's gonna start fitting into captain kirk's niche

also, WHAT? we get ONE LINE about kes and neelix breaking up and he's not even IN this episode? why did they even break them up??? just because they wrre planning on having her leave soon????? absolutely baffling

i don't think evil emh was very compelling...i am glad he got to act or whatever, but i didn't even get the usual "battle of the selves" that we often wind up with when we do these kind of tropes. it was just...a malfunction, and eventually it was corrected

also, what a BAFFLING b-plot. if you measure each of kes's years (except the first, i suppose) as a decade in human beings, we can assume she's in her thirties now, so she just...breaks up with her boyfriend to smooch the hot alien guy she met a few days ago and then maybe wants to run off with him? in her THIRTIES?

i DID like the EMH quoting the oath at the end, but without any sort of battle of the selves or real emotional investment in what he did when he was evil, it feels kind of wasted on this episode. it's a fine concept, but the execution falls soooo flat

this episode broke my fucking heart bro i got so much amethio content but at what cost.

terapagos still pissed as hell at amethio, i don;t think he's related to lucius (like not blood relatives) but i think it's possible he resembles/is the descendant of someone lucius/terapagos knew in terapagos' eyes.

also not to let out my film student but when diana and hamber had that confrontation hamber's face was half light half shadow and diana's was illuminated by the moon almost entirely and i started hollering. its fuckinnnn symbolism babey!!! love that shit its so good mwah

really interested to learn about their whole deal. AND diana just hopping on arcanine and just leaping out the window no hesitation??? shes so cool i love her. we need more badass older women in media methinks (i wonder how strong her arcanine is?)

also tbh i forgot all about onyx's garganacl so when the pokemon living in the castle were crystallized i freaked out for a second thinking it had to do something with terapagos/tera crystals and terrastalizing. i wonder if we'll see something like that later on, like the ones in area zero?

speaking of onyx, i wonder if he was brought on the mission partly to serve as damage control for sango? she's a sore loser and aggressive in both attitude and battle style (literally used self destruct girl HUH) and he was consistently acting as a guard. we didnt get to see too much of them which i guess is expected but i really wonder how they compare to the other explorers.

ough. amethio. i've seen a few people mention his more ruthless battling here (he did try to blow away friede's phone (i think?) and was more aggressive with his attacks) but here it read to me as more like. desperation. he seems like he's scrambling for any sort of purchase he can find to complete his goal, especially with his expressions after he lost. it really makes me wonder why someone so young is knee deep into this, and what he's trying to prove if anything

also it could just be a coincidence but amethio's and friede's battle on the rooftop reallu reminded me of their first ever battle on the roof of liko's school. ANDDDD the contrast of the first episode being liko in the darkness of the night, unsure of what lie ahead vs this episode, where she is carried off to safety in the care of her friends into the early hours of dawn and amethio being left in the wake HELLO does any one hear me

anyways i need to wait for subs to really understand. i think i am going to take a nap now

I think I will actually never ever watch anything but the original Higurashi and maybe Kai again. I barely remember Rei aside from Saikoroshi-hen. Like the first episode was some stupid pool shit and the last episode......was it Hanyuu finding little Rika? Was there a single meaningful thing in Kira? Or was the little Rika episode a part of Kira? idk. in any case, Nekogoroshi-hen is also completely skippable.

I wouldn't have listened to this advice, but watching just the OG and Kai is all I recommend. I never want to skip stuff or whatever cause I am just curious and want to know everything. I am so serious when I say those two are the only thing worth watching (now I know absolutely nothing about the games or manga, so don't quote me on that).

And then watch the back half of the final episode of Sotsu and ignore the weird talk that Rika and Satoko had on the train. Like that is literally it when it comes to the anime.

I think the story would be better if Satoko felt even a little bit bad about doing this to Rika. She sees it more like a necessary evil, but an evil she enjoys participating in. Like, she is smiling and thinks it's fun. If she felt bad about it the entire time, even midway through being like "I don't want to do this to Rika anymore!!!! She's my friend!!!!!" would be enough for me, tbh

In fact, it hardly makes sense that the same two week period would create this many different situations, no? If most of the characters have no idea they're in a loop, shouldn't they be acting the exact same in every situation?

In any case, it honestly was better the OG had several different arcs because having the exact same loop only works for a movie, not something with 26 episodes

I think taking a break between answer and question arcs in this series is best because I'm now only vaguely aware of what's supposed to happen and I'm not totally bored out of my mind watching it

okay I think I actually detest this girl. She abuses the one person who she loves because Rika doesn't want to stay with her. And she manipulates everyone into seeing Teppei as an abuser. It's not even just that she brought him back here, she also acts like she's been abused whenever she's out in public. This man is truly full of sorrow and pain for her and she lets him get his reputation ruined. If he didn't act all rough and tough to everyone by default, people might not do anything or even believe Satoko is lying. But because he acts like that, she just lets everyone assume the worst.

I just genuinely don't like her anymore.

I forgive Shion because she had Hinamizawa Syndrome and was acting on behalf of what she thought Satoshi's wishes were. She usually always does, but in that timeline she just thought Satoko being punished is what he would have wanted. In most worlds she adores Satoko and is willing to put her life on the line for her. Satoko is just being a selfish piece of shit. Like there is no rason for her to be this messed up. No logical explanation. Everyone else has the excuse of Hinamizawa Syndrome. There's just something wrong with that girl

i forgot to add history 3: trapped - mafia man & cop fall for each other. this is a fun one. it has the whole crime intrigue aspect, so if you like kp, you'll like this one i think.

y destiny - but i only really care about episodes 9 & 10, which is puth & kaeng's story. so good.

also, i have since watched:

blueming - soft and emotional and beautiful. very underrated bl.

3 will be free - this is a different one. so, again it has crime elements, and intrigued and is a pretty exciting watch, aaand, it features a polyamourous realtionship, which i have never known another bl or drama to do. so, yeah, good watch.

mr unlucky has no choice but to kiss - i haven't finished it yet actually, but it's very sweet, very funny, and like most japanese bl's, a very feel good watch.

also, literally just started watching yesterday- old fashioned cupcake - another japanese bl that's pretty short, but really good! it's totally snuck under the radar, what with everyone's kp brainrot.

now, my ultimate fave are:

kinnporsche - i mean......we been knew. i'm not gonna go into detail about why i love it, because, i'm currently here doing it everyday but yeah.......it's solidified its spot as one of my ults.

not me - not me is so special to me, i will never get over it. kinda can't really be classed a bl, more of an lgbt+ drama. bl's follow a certain formula, and that's not not me. it's about, love, found family, strength in numbers strength in community, fighting for your rights, exposing corruption, direct action! mwah! not me is just, so good.

the untamed - again. so so so special to me. this show lives on my heart forever now. it's a chinese drama, so it's not explicitly a bl, and it's incredibly long (50 episodes!) but anon, trust me, it will take you on an absolutely heart-wrenchjng journey. you will experience the full spectrum of emotion watching this show. and the writers, cast, directors, everyone, did an amazing job portraying the love and devotion of the main couple that's not a couple (in case you don't know, china has censorship laws that prohibits lgbt+ content to be shown in tv dramas). an ult fave indeed.

we best love - oh man. oh maaaannnnn, we best love is so good. i rewatch it every now and then and it hits every time. the acting..........top notch omg. everyone is so good, but the main actors are superb. it's soft, it's sweet, it's a coming of age story, but then it all changes, and it's about heartbreak, and healing. there are two seasons of this show, but i wish there were 30.

itsay - itsay (i told sunset about you) is just? iconic. a lot of people don't even really class it as a bl? same with not me actually. it's more of a coming of age drama, and god, it's just beautiful in every way. another one that will take on a journey of emotions. i always feel so wrung out after an itsay rewatch. itsay is a work art actually.

why r u? - controversial choice. not everyone liked this show, but, i can't help but get in my feelings about it. i think it was the first bl i properly watched and got sucked into. the chemistry between the main couple is amazing. in fact, that could be said for all my faves. it really is the key component to a decent bl.

i don't think i've forgotten any obvious ones.......

there are a few others, but, it's more about certain couples or, aspects of the show that are my fave, as a opposed to the show as a whole. and they'll be in the other list i linked above soooo?

saw shin ultraman in theaters last week. great movie, really spectacular. had a few gripes like i wish it had more kaiju fights and it was weird about its female lead sometimes but all in all i’d give it five out of five stars and i can’t wait to preorder the bluray. despite anno’s gritty scary almost lovecraftian approach, it does so good at encapsulating the ultraman ideals of hope and faith and humanity and believing in a hero from the stars but also people working together to save the day without needing to 100% rely on that hero. shinji kaminaga aka mr shin ultraman is my sexy autistic wife

been watching decade recently with a friend. man is decade really uh.... something. it’s honestly hard to watch because it makes no sense ever and that makes it kind of boring, sort of like blade or kabuto in their worst moments (sidenote: cannot believe the guy writing the utterly incoherent early decade episodes is the same guy that came in and fixed up blade and made it more coherent. from one extreme to the other) and i have to truly marvel at the extreme randomness of some of these au choices. (blade but corporate hierarchy? faiz but school cliques? kiva but fangires are legally protected and wataru is a small child? ?????) however... there is a strong emotional core to the series that doesn’t let you go, the themes of tsukasa’s character as being a wanderer with no memories and no home are really powerful and i love the sense of his eternal placeless journey. also kaitou daiki is there mwah mwah love you sexy

uhhh i’m running out of steam to talk about stuff. riderman arc of v3 GOOD. amazon GOOD. ooo rewatch FUCKING GOOD. tomorrow me and my friends will hopefully resume our long-hiatused wizard and toqger groupwatches which i’m very excited for. ya 👍

Blorbo - my blorbo is probably Michael! I was absolutely obsessed with that guy and the system decided to fuck around and get a fictive of him so that was a time! He’s got such an interesting character I love all the discussion around identity and if you have a self. Ot hit very close to home and he is very dissociation actually so that was relatable! Michael Shelley is great , on of the most anger inducing things is people infantilising Michael Shelley. He’s not a kid you absolute dipshit. The distortion itself is such a cool concept and I’m obsessed. Michael distortion is both but also not really either and waaa I love them<3<3<3 ALSO Melanie king! I cannot talk as much about her I have strong incoherent thoughts about her she is wonderful and probs the smartest archive assistant in the show. (Sasha was not ‘the brain cell’ actually she followed some blond weirdo to an abandoned pub) and her and Georgie are so much to me! BUT LIKE…Michael , Melanie and Sasha James too if I had to pick. Sasha means a lot to me and I disagree with the fanon of ‘oh she’s the brain cell’ no the fuck she is not, let a girl be a lil silly omg you guys hate to see a girlboss winning.

Scrunkly - hmm. You see all of them are just SO. I think if I was forced to choose I would go Jane Prentiss! I’m a strong believer she did nothing wrong, her arc hit very close as someone with bfrbs and dependency issues! She is wonderful I’m corruption aligned. I think a lot about her pre corruption and what she said in her statement about going to the park in the sun and drinking wine. It’s healing to imagine her doing the same while with the hive, or post-hive (I read a fic and it was good so now it’s canon) I think she is wonderful! And gorgeous with the worms btw, only lame people don’t think she’s cute with the worms.

Scrimblo bimblo - OLIVER BANKS. Get fucked he’s like sexiest best most epic guy ever he committed identify theft to take a nap and I felt him! Epic guy wonderful I don’t know too much about him but Oliver banks is one of my favourite characters! Not to mention I love end avatars, not aligned with it much myself but it slaps!

Glup shitto - RYAN (mentioned in episode 101, Michael’s statement) AND GABRIEL THE WORKER OF CLAY (I think he’s mentioned more than once but mainly ep 101 again) my lord I have so any thoughts about how Michael and Ryan’s childhood friendship literally lead to Michael becoming the distortion! What if Ryan’s not dead hmm? What I’d they reunited hmm? What if they were besties again hmm? Also the worker of clay is such a cool character, he basically worshiped the distortion and “dissolved his veins in crimson mud” when the great twisting failed. I’m obsessed. Since people like religious themes in relationships so much JUST LOOK AT GABRIEL WORKER OF CLAY!!!! So many opportunities here you’re all sleeping on them.

Poor little meow meow - Jon sad guy Sims my favourite pathetic archivist <3<3<3<3 he’s just sopping wet!! Love him!! Quite relatable but like specifically in seasons 2 and up. Don’t relate much to academic nerd my test week starts tomorrow and I haven’t done any revision. I can however relate to paranoia and suspicion of those who care about you <3 ! Idk if I have a problematic fave? I genuinely dislike Gertrude Robinson but I’m not like weird about it. System Michael feels quite strongly about it and I always disliked the fact she is reminiscent of adults I tried to gain the approval of and failed and got upset. Soooo I don’t like gertie but if you do good for you ! So Jon is my most pathetic guy I like methinks.

Horse plinko - my hc and fic track record would suggest Michael and Jon! And Tim! I love me some good Tim after realising not-Sasha isn’t Sasha! I love Tim but oh my lord that is the good shit. I would torment Elias bc fuck him (mad at what he did to Melanie and Martin specifically I don’t care if he kills people or is evil I’m mad at two very specific events).

Eeby deeby - we’ve already talked about my feelings on Gertrude. I hate her but that’s entirely for bias and personal reasons and she’s a well written and compelling character. I’m not like overly big on hating Elias he’s whatever, I DO hate Peter Lukas, I think people really minimise how awful he really was. He did what Gertrude did but he never had any good intentions! At least gertie was trying to save the world. Peter was just a dick. Of course he’s still funny and I like that he got PLAYED by Martin WOOO go Martin (didn’t fit any of the categories but Martin is very important to me and he’s a badass and cool stop being like ‘soft boy’ bc my lad he is a full grown man you’re just fatphobic.) anyways! Answer? MARY KEAY. I cannot believe I haven’t mentioned my hatred for her before.
