So we don't really know what AFO was saying when he commented Hawks was past his prime. All we know is that progress has been slow and Hawks had to get prosthetics.

Personally, I think Hawks' wings would have grown back completely if they were given time and a healing environment, unfortunately he didn't have that luxury.

It's not so much a matter of having feathers or not, just that he needs the base of his wings to be functioning. When Dabi attacked him, that's what got damaged that typically did not get damaged. When Hawks goes on patrol he loses feathers through work, his wings don't often physically take serious damage and that's what happened this time. So, because of that, he was having trouble recovering and needed to get prosthetics to help heal.

I think after this way, because Hawks is definitely going to live and be perfectly fine, I think his wings are going to grow back to full size. The only permanent issue I can forsee is that the feathers will now take longer to grow back and he'll generally be a little slower.

I keep forgetting to post ab this but since it's MP100 time for everyone I am edgy thinkimg about Separation/Mogami arc again. Gonna get a little heavy with this one due to the themes of both arcs.

Mogami obviously has his beef w Mob, being like "Ohh we are so similar, you should be like me" but you know who else Mogami could be parallel to? Reigen.

Their origins are very similar, despite Mogami being a real esper and Reigen not. They were each "acclaimed" as the best psychic of their respective centuries. The celeb type things Mogami is shown doing in his backstory like going on talk shows is similar to what Reigen does at the start of Separation. They both started out their businesses with the intention to help people and cultivated business personas, each going awry in different ways.

The other thing is the moths. A moth (and other insects and wildlife) is the form Mogami takes in the world he created. It's not only a vessel of him, but also a general symbol of despair. During Separation, when Reigen is losing it at the bar, there's a shot with a heavy focus on moths. The lighting in this scene reminds me of the squalor and disrepair of Mogami.

At this point, Reigen's at his lowest. I believe the meaning of this shot is that if he continues down the path he's going, he's going to end up like Mogami. Not in that he'll become an evil spirit or anything - but that he's possibly going to go out in the same way, taking his life like his predecessor and childhood hero.

Now this might seem like jumping to conclusions but the OVA shows he's not above considering suicide if he's pushed too far (YMMV on how canon that was though.) For MP100, Separation is a key arc that is necessary for Reigen to be knocked down a peg grow as a character, but if you showed it to someone without context, it kind of reads as a lead-up to a suicide. Hell, even in context the depression subtext is pretty clear. The friendship fallout, the cancelling, abusing drink and cigarettes? We've all heard news stories of people committing suicide due to similar circumstances to Reigen. I think this layer of close-to-home is part of why Separation is so viscerally uncomfortable.

I think it was excellent of them to have these arcs right next to each other. It not only shows that Mob has learned from Mogami not to be used, it also sets up Reigen's downfall. Luckily Reigen manages to turn it around but the one-two punch of these arcs is (chef's kiss)
