like, technically ryo does take an antagonistic role. but. akira at the end of devilman wasn't Good either. like, it wasn't just ryo. that was very much an important part of the manga. that akira's desire for revenge and anger warped his views (along with literal demon possession) and drove him to extremes. like, we can't pretend that ryo is the only one responsible for what happened at the end... "akira is a hero and ryo is a villain" is such a common misconception that it is honestly exhausting
#louie.txt#devilman#ARRGG its like. Ok. Puts my head in my hands#THEYRE both COMPLEX . and morally grey and way more than just like.#This is the Hero! This is the Villain!#YES akira is the protagonist and ryo ends up as the antagonist BUT NOT#because of 'akira good ryo bad' it isnt that simple#ryo spent most of his time as a deuteragonist anyways#like one of the major themes of devilman is the Anti War thing which#is about how both ryo and akira were responsible for what happened#go nagai doesnt even portray ryo as EVIL. like.#he makes ryo EXTREMELY sympathetic at the end.#whats the big idea...

idk how other ppl learn to read characters but even when someone has very few lines, if they're not a few throwaway lines and have a smidgen of thought put into them, you can really deduct a lot of things from what they say without mountains of dialogue and array of actions they take.
cIaus, even Iucas via his few lines and interactive dialogue, is so easy to understand and learn what hes about from the dialogue you are given. it shouldnt be hard to mess him up
and even tho these are more active characters in the story with goals to achieve and story beats to hit, u rly can apply the same to lngo and 3mmet. u can make assumptions or deduct possible aspects about how they act from breaking down their dialogue and possible routine. some things might be completely speculative and pulled out of thin air but as long as it matches the characters general front its hard to go wrong
#gilly speaks#fanon can have some fun in it and sometimes its where most of ur source material might come from bc theyre not important npcs but#its important to review how they actually act if u wanna create something semi faithful#im not 100% faithful but i think about these things alot#ie i like opposites in how they present themselves vs how they actually are#lngo being viewed as always responsible whilst actually being a bit reckless <- i dont take p0kemas as canon but their event lit#proves this when he wants to get straight into action in the tunnels whilst 3mmet reigns him back in with a reminder about asking#and vice versa when 3mmet takes safety way more seriously than lngo even tho its something they both care for#i have many thoughts abt them#always and forever#another part of my not 100% faithful adaptions is taking their inaction during all bw events#u could say they had to protect the subway and its ppl but honestly...........#they could have taken a stand against ghets1s with the league#the workers are no pushovers they could have handled themselves were anything to happen in n1mbasa#so i see that as them actively protecting the subway and one another above a larger threat in hopes theyd be left alone and that someone#would deal w that problem even if it ends up being a young teenager </3#theyre just normal guys. literally standard guys who dont want to be caught up in world saving shenanigans.#theyre both justice oriented when its to do with the subway directly#otherwise its just not their problem. theyre just some guys!!!!#ignore the strength they wield dw abt it#sorry i cannot be normal abt them theyre very dear to me and them being complex instead of amazing and good guys is so much more fun#theyre not bad!! they barely scrape morally grey bc they ultimately want to do good but sometimes theyre willing to turn a blind eye to#bigger problems in order to protect whats important to them

I want to start off this by saying that I completely agree that the Cat King is a very well written and well acted, complex character. He’s a really good minor antagonist (in the way that he keeps the boys in port townsend not in a way that he’s evil) and is pivotal to Edwins gay awakening and overall character development.
I also want to be VERY clear that this isnt meant as an attack on anyone elses posts or opinions and isnt me trying to shame anyone who does like their dynamic. If you like them cool, they just aren’t for me and I thought id explain why. :))
WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY:
I really dislike the way people treat it like you have to like him because hes complex or like they’re aren’t any valid reasons to dislike him. If he is your favorite character or you really like him, cool! If you dislike him, also cool! Both can be valid at the same time! Complex characters are nuanced meaning people will usually draw different conclusions about them and that makes them interesting! I just really dislike the way I see people dismiss anyone he dislikes the cat king and edwins relationship by saying ‘that they just misunderstood his character’ or ‘that they just hated him getting in the way of payneland’
I like the cat king as a character: hes fun and complicated and morally grey and acts just like a cat in human form! That being said I dont love his realtionship woth Edwin, it always made me feel a little uncomfortable. The age gap is part of it but definitely not the biggest thing. I know edwin is like over 70 years old supernaturally speaking but I feel like he acts and thinks like a teenager a lot so it feels a bit like a weird grey area to me. He also is supposed to LOOK like a teen (ignoring the actors ages obviously) which makes the cat king being physically attracted to edwin a little icky as well. But all in all I can get over the age gap.
My problem is the binds of their relationship. Edwin is trapped in port townsend after Charles has just possessed Ester and possibly alerted the afterlife to their locations. Theyre also trapped in the same town as said very angry witch. And the first thing the cat king offers for payment is sex. I think i would feel differently about the exchange if he had offered counting cats first, and sex after as an easier option after. The task of counting all the cats in port townsend, while it wasnt an impossible task, always sort of felt like pressure to me if that makes any sense. Sort of like ‘well there is always a faster option, given that your on a time crunch’. (In all fairness that point could be a personal reading of it so im not putting a lot of emphasis on it, just wanted to mention it) and there is just SUCH a power imbalance between the two.
I also feel like at times the cat king does push the boundaries of consent. Not in a big way, but hes very touchy with Edwin and the scene with him turning into Monty and Charles and coming onto Edwin always felt creepy to me. Now an important point to mention here is that Edwin does find the cat king attractive. That is very obvious and important in the show. HOWEVER it seems equally obvious that he is uncomfortable with their relationship. Him finding the cat king attractive doesnt mean he wants him, it just makes his feelings about him more complicated and confusing. When Niko asks if he wants to kiss the cat king and he says definitely not, i dont think hes lying. He finds him physically attractive yes but thats it.
I find that (in my opinion) people romanticize their relationship/completely forgive the cat kings creepier traits because he’s in love with edwin. But I don’t think it excuses the way he acts towards him. He is pressuring edwin and flirting aggressively with him despite being told multiple times by edwin that he is not intrested in him.
OKAY. This ended up being a way longer rant than it was went to be but…oh well. My main point is just that their relationship is really complicated and morally grey. Some people will like it and some peole won’t and neither are wrong because it isn’t black and white. People disliking your favorite characters/ship doesnt mean they are dumb or dont understand it, it just means they dont like it. Just like on the other side nothing is wrong with people who like a character/ship you dislike or find icky! Both readings can be valid at the same time! The cat king is a very fun, nuanced, trickster character and you can appreciate that whether you like him or dont. At least thats my two sense on the matter
How about we stop interpreting the Cat King into something he is not and start listening to Lukas Gage about his own character instead?
Because it's genuinely concerning how some people view him, and at this point, I am starting to believe you people are so hostile towards him because he disrupts Painland, which he doesn't since Edwin can very much like two people at the same time (most people in real life do).
Lukas also sees this shit... It's obvious he loves this character and worked very hard to make him complex and three-dimensional, only for people to misunderstand him completely and start treating him horribly, which I'm sorry but it's completely bullshit.
So less "I don't like him because he makes me feel icky for no apparent reason" and more media comprehension.

for the character asks dazai!!
favorite thing about them
i love how complex he is. i've always been drawn to morally grey characters but dazai is just so my type of character it's ridiculous. like at the same time dazai did horrible things to Akutagawa and he's trying to do better on nothing but his old friend's words that he can be better. he is this exact mix of morally grey that i love playing with
least favorite thing about them
I mean,,, well it's kind of obvious. how he treated most people under him in the port mafia, especially akutagawa. aku deserved much better than dazai, and while my thoughts on it are somewhat complicated, dazai was most definitely in the wrong.
also!! leaving chuuya in the woods was unfortunately in character but hhhh
favorite line
brOTP
dazai & ranpo!! i mean I wrote almost 15k about them and it's just!!! the way ranpo can see through dazais walls and dazai can catch up with his deductions but neither of them say anything because they already Know. it's the intimacy of knowing that the other person can deduce your whole life in front of you but is kind enough not to, and it's the comradery of being the two smartest people in a room
OTP
I like playing with most dazai ships, but I do really love soukoku. They know each other inside out, and they would trust each other with their lives, but they wouldn't trust each other with anything else, and its a very fun dynamic to play with!! it's That Dynamic mixed with the messiness of dazai disappearing for four years and both of them know that the ada is better for dazai, but that doesnt remove the sting of betrayal and the hurt that chuuya felt and just!!! ahhh theyre such a fun ship
nOTP
I like mori/dazai in the sense of like,,, catharsis for angst, but I hate them shipped romantically. them as trying to manipulate things out of each other and dazai getting away from it? hell yeah! them romantically or genuinely softly? no.
other than that,,, dazai/akutagawa makes me uncomfortable because of obvious reasons and dazai/atsushi squicks me out because of the power dynamic
random headcanon
dazai gets really niche interests that no one else knows about , and sometimes he'll drop a really specific fact about something like classic russian films
unpopular opinion
well I have a Lot but most of them are more of me being frustrated with the way people write him? but if we're doing actual unpopular opinions then I would say that the four years of separation between him and chuuya (and the larger port mafia) was a good thing in the long run. it let them grow more outside of each other, and it allowed them to realize that their lives don't have to be each other even if they end up romantically involved. not to mention that even if he leaves people behind, dazai leaving the cycle of abuse is good.
song i associate with them
well. a lot but
Congratulations, You Survived Your Suicide by Sycamore Smith
Flight of the Crows by Jhariah
favorite picture of them
he looks so dumb here i love him
character ask game link
#dazai osamu#bungou stray dogs#ask memes#tumblr games#long post for ts#im SORRY this got so long i have too many Thoughts about him

i have decided i am now going to blow up your inbox bc i csn i’m sorry codi focnnf
b u t!! anyway i’m going to rambling abt my new dad for all au [whixh was the au i sent you that ask abt]
alrighty so all might is now midoriya’s dad. that’s a thing. i like to think that inko and toshinori were high school sweethearts who broke up after graduation but met again when all might was called to recuse some hostages and inko was one of them!! anywho all might recuses her, they go on a coffee date, realize they’re still in love and start again
they get married and have izuku, who keeps inko’s maiden name [midoriya is now inko’s maiden name bc i do what i want]. he’s the cutest baby who has inko’s green hair, but has one blue and one green eye! [these are /important/] inko and all might talk abt maybe giving izuku all for one when he’s older, but they decide against it bc they don’t know if he’ll have a quirk or not
spoiler!! bitch baby has a quirk!! he gets a quirk that’s so much different than inko’s quirk and !!! ahhh!!! the basic explanation is that all might’s all of one genes mixed and then “corrupt” inko’s like 3 generation quirk-having genes or smth and izu has a very, very complex quirk now. it’s called astron, and astron allows him to fucking astral project into the center of the university and shit chxnc
astron works two different ways: using his blue eye he can project other people into his own personal astral plane and do whatever he wants. while the person’s physical body is still where it was, their mind is in the astral plane. if he uses his green eye, he can project himself to his astral plane and fuck around without consequences!!
[there’s an untold third ability of astron using both of his eyes, but izuku tried doing that when he first got his quirk and immediately fell into a coma for like a month? it was bad and his mind couldn’t handle the stress and dipped lol]
ANYWAY, izuku grows up with a bomb ass quirk and still has his kacchan with him thru his childhood so things are a lot different than canon? the wonder duo are little shitheads together and i love them, they wreck havoc and i love them
i have more ideas for this story but this is all i have for now, codi this is so long i’m sorry i’m blowing up ur inbox 🥺😭
me opening my askbox and seeing the length of this au: holy shit
me reading the actual whole au: HOLY SHIT
AJ I LOVE THIS HIGHKEY!!! I LOVE THE IDEA OF OP DEKU W A FUCKED UP QUIRK JUST TERRIFYING EVERYONE HE COMES ACROSS!!!! heterochromia is SO so good as a character design element and i LOVE THE WAY THIS IS IMPLEMENTED YELLS. I WANNA DRAW THIS SO BAD!!! THIS LOOKS SO COOL
(serious writing/plot below - blood and vomit mention)
oh god and now im imagining deku like. being this extremely feral and annoying lil shit whos extremely powerful and now bakugous got someone on his level so hes a lot more humble as hes growing up but also him and deku are the?? BESTEST OF FRIENDS. and i imagine when bakugou is being a little shit deku just. astral projects him out of his body for a while and apologizes to whoever kacchan yelled at LMFAO---bakugou comes back to his body and is all like “....fucks sake stop doing that”
AND THEN omfgkjfds imagine morally grey deku who does whatever he can to win?? he knew he wouldnt get into UAs hero course fair and square (all might offered him a recommendation but he declined because he wanted to get there on his own with kacchan) because robots didnt have souls he could astral project so he practices his quirks limits like YEARS prior and he tells bakugou about it but never rlly shows him but on the day of the entrance exam?
he shows up. everything goes as normal and he finishes the written exams and then moves on to the practical exam (still seperated from kacchan like in canon) and like. Every one goes dashing forward and deku doesnt really try to beat anyone. He waits until theyre all in the center engaging with robots when he walks to the center of the room.
and he sees the zero pointer in the distance.
“THE ZERO-POINTER’S HERE!” He yells and points at the gigantic mech heading their way. All at once everyone’s heads whip up to catch sight of the robot, enraptured by its sheer size and power.
As they all look to one direction, Deku makes eye contact with them and smiles.
All at once, every single participant in the area goes limp. Astron throws their souls into the astral plane with little fanfare and everyone watches in awe and annoyance as their bodies uselessly crumple to the ground from the outside. The green-haired boy is suddenly given free reigns of the arena and they seethe as one by one he deactivates or disables robots that were once under their purview.
(What some of the smarter ones notice however, is the way he seems to be leaving some stray 3 pointers untouched... almost as if he was doing the calculations in his head as he goes... on how to ensure the number one spot while others can still score points...?)
One by one however, they start struggling and reaching to reconnect with their bodies. Their gleaming bright souls bob up and down with frenzied energy and Deku feels it. He feels it like itches on his skin and goosebumps that turn into hills that dance up and down his back. He feels it like he feels his limit reaching.
Its still around 10 minutes though before he actually loses control and everyone comes back to their bodies. His quirk times out and almost like its angry, the astral plane takes his body in exchange for the dozens he kept in there. He gets sucked through and passes out while everyone else runs and destroys the remaining bots. It doesn’t matter though, because he knows he’s racked up enough points to stay on top. He lets himself rest and observes the blue-haired tall guy with engines who contemplates carrying Deku’s body to safety.
Until, he sees her.
Just under some rubble and very close to getting crushed by the Zero-Pointer’s foot, Deku spots a brown-haired young girl that he recalls has some kind of floating quirk. He sees as everyone runs past her, prioritizing their own safety instead of hers.
He makes a decision.
Quickly--recklessly, a familiar gruff voice says in his ear--he forces himself back into his body and looks around. He runs to the girl and attempts to dig her out from the rubble before she gets crushed. The robot comes ever closer.
Using the little strength and flexibility he’s learnt from years of sparring with Kacchan, Deku abandons her in favor of climbing up the broken concrete and metal to meet the robot’s visor. He knows he won’t save her by digging her out of there, but by god is he gonna let her get injured without a fight. These robots weren’t designed to kill, but they were designed to destroy.
Focus. Focus and listen to what’s around you, Izu-kun.
The world around him reduces to tunnel-vision and suddenly Deku is face to face with the Zero-Pointer. It stops, as if calculating how to discard of Deku without hurting him severely with its own strength.
Everything has life in it. You only need to focus and look for it.
Izuku Midoriya looks at the robot.
In a whirlwind of blue and green, he reaches inside of himself and searches for life. Cold steel and hard-wired code meet his gaze and he plunges even deeper.
Focus.
Then all at once, everything in his visions snaps into sudden clarity, like he’s never seen before. He feels everything. Sees Everything. Smells, tastes, hears--and he hears how the metal beneath him bends and groans. He feels how it winces and shudders. He sees it as it opens its maw and its visor bends in a facsimile of eyes, pleading him as if asking how?
The robot beneath him comes to life and stumbles back.
Quickly, he scrambles to the nearest ledge which happens to be a broken support beam. Distantly, he thinks he feels his arm being sliced open on the edge of it and the warmth of blood streaming down his side as he nearly falls.
“HEY! YOU WITH THE ENGINES!” He hoarsely screams to the still remaining, slack-jawed contestants. “I CAN’T KEEP THE ZERO POINTER DOWN FOR LONG! GO HELP THE GIRL AND TAKE HER TO SAFETY NOW!”
With a sudden burst of energy, the fellow participants start taking others out from the rubble while the blue-haired boy helps the brunette he was protecting earlier. As he watches them clear the rubble to drag her out, he feels a pang.
Who am I? a lost voice calls out. It’s raspy and almost-robotic sounding and only he can hear it. Where am I? What am I?
And Deku’s vision flickers.
In and out, he sees flashes through eyes that aren’t his. He hears voices that are simultaneously faraway and way too close for comfort. The world tugs at the sides of his perspective and a strain is pulling at the back of his head tearing his brain to shreds. He doesn’t know what he’s focusing or straining on, except that its working and keeping the zero-pointer down.
He grits his teeth. “Hurry the hell up! i can’t do this any longer--”
Bursts of pain appear behind his mismatched eyes and he wants to scream so bad and if he were looking any clearer he’d see the way that the zero-pointer thrashes on the ground in time with the pounding on his skull. Bile crawls up the back of his throat and Deku screams.
“SHE’S CLEAR! YOU CAN LET GO NOW, MIDORIYA-SAN.”
Izuku lets go and his vision goes black.

In the light of the whole doomsday arc and chaos I think it's important to like,,, clarify ? Some points ppl r makin even tho theyre prob not gonna see it.
Also!! This is all /roleplay and talking about the characters not the content creators
Yes, everyone has fucked up. That's what they're ALL going for, especially the ppl takin the lead when it comes to the writin of the script. Everyone is a fucked up character and everyone is a good character with the exception of Dream.
Now to get some more in depth:
Let's start with c!Tubbo. Since the beginning he's been put into tight and bad situations. Watching his friends get exiled, being made a spy for the sake of Intel to win a war which is So Much Pressure, eventually fighting in said war, being made president of the revolutionized country but then immedietly having to rebuild it, later be manipulated to exile his beat friend and brother in arms etc etc. It's a lot of trauma and greif, it's not false to call him a child solider because that's exactly what he is. Schlatt was right, the moment he died the country was doomed, wether that be from Pogtopia, Technoblade, Dream or the inevitability that the leadership would fall onto Tubbo. He's not infallible and he's not experienced. He's a severely Traumatised teenager. But this doesn't necessarily make him a good person.
Next is c!Technoblade because I have some Opinions. He's a fucked up character. Just like everyone else, just in a more transparent way. A lot of the characters hide the bad things they've done in a way to preserve moral righteousness and such. Technoblade has always been clear and transparent he wants nothing more than anarchy, chaos and the fall of L'manburg. Now, acts of terrorism aren't good, they're pretty fucked up. The great thing about his character is that he's so goddman complex. Just like Tubbo and Tommy he's been wronged. And just like Tubbo and Tommy he's a hypocrite. That's what happens when you have morally grey and ambiguous characters. He made his intentions about anarchy clear and Pogtopia made their intentions about Governments clear, they both chose to ignore eachother which in the end made them Hypocrites. A specific point I want to make about Technoblade teaming up with Dream is that Tommy has NEVER been clear with Technoblade with how Dream treated him. Technoblade couldn't have known what Dream did because of Tommy's trauma about speaking about it and Dream's manipulation. Technoblade teamed up with Dream because they shared a common goal, he doesnt trust Dream and has voiced that before. Also! Tommy's point in their argument in the middle of Doomsday was really interesting, he said (I'm paraphrasing) "why can't you just let people love what they love." A thing to note is that Technoblade DID. After the end of the revolution he left to go live in retirment and solitude and let them fight amongst eachother and destroy eachother. The very same Government he predicted to be corrupt then tried to execute him without trial even though they said he'd be given one. Which is a pretty corrupt thing to do. In the end Technoblade was used and just a little bit mistreated but he's not in the right because of that. Again, he can be seen in the lense of a Villain but that doesn't mean he really is one.
Now onto c!Tommy. His character is deffinetly an interesting one! I think his main fault is his own hubris. He's prideful to a default and stubborn when it comes to the idea he could have done something wrong because of how badly he wants to be the/a hero. Now, I'm not saying he HASN'T taken accountability for some things he's said and done because he most certainly has and thus has grown as a character. Another huge fault is his hyperfixation on the emotions and people attached to objects. Honestly? Tubbo logically wasn't wrong, they're just discs. But in Tommy's head they're a symbol of his and Tubbo's friendship. The problem is when he picks these discs over his actual friendship with Tubbo and how Dream has manipulated him. Dream plays a BIG part in why Tommy thinks the discs are so valuable. If you're told enough times and manipulated into thinking objects hold a significant value to the things important to you then eventually they become fiercely important to you and have some weight to them. I think in the beginning, in Tommy's brain destroying the discs meant his and Tubbo's friendship was over because of the part they've played in their friendship. Again, Tubbo only ever saw them as dics, plastic vinyls that drop from mobs and play pretty music. To another point, Tommy is also explicitly Hypocritical, just like Technoblade. He holds onto the fact that Tubbo and L'manburg and it's people are his friends and he cares about him but then calls Technoblade his friend and casts his emotions aside. The problem is the blatant fact that Tommy used Technoblade as a weapon and after being called out that friends don't do that to eachother he ignores it. In this instance he's no better than Technoblade. A kinda big problem is his character development, which really doesn't have a lot to do with c!Tommy and more with how the writers suggest developing him as a character. I think the main thing is that he goes to Tubbo's side saying how the discs never truly mattered to later saying they need the discs. The discs don't matter. What matters is defeating Dream. But just like Tubbo, Tommy is a highly and incredibly traumatised Teenager.
Next is c!Ranboo, the mad lad! I don't really have a whole lot to say? Just some quick analysis of what his characters ideals are and his actions in everything. Looking at his character he's incredibly paranoid, anxious and probably Traumatised from things we the audience don't know. At the end of the day he's a true neutral character. In one of the tweets cc!Ranboo sent it said that as long as Dream isn't hurting the people he (character Ranboo) directly cares about, he doesn't care what Dream does. For a good portion he was against Dream because he cared about everyone nd dream was hurting everyone. He's joined Technoblade and Ph1lza in the Arctic because he thinks that Dream has gotten what he wants, he doesn't know anything about Dream and Tommy's conversation by the end of Doomsday. Also! Ranboo's ideals/beliefs are anarchist by nature and principle. The reason he has a problem with choosing sides between L'manburg and Dream is because of the hierarchy within those sides, and the obligation that you have to fight that comes with picking those sides. Technoblade and Ph1lza both chose to fight under free will and because they chose too without coercion. Everyone is equal there. There's a really good post somewhere talking about it that'll I'll look for that explains it very well. (EDIT: found the post also hopefully i did the link right)
This is getting painfully long so I'm wrapping it up here with a few last things. Everything has always come down to Dream. The reason L'manburg was built was to get away from the oppressive power that is Dream (another point for Technoblade teaming up w dream, he wasn't there for Dreams stuff, he only knew of Schlatt but I digress). Dream has manipulated everyone, he's running the puppet show with the strings tied to his fingers. He's manipulated Tubbo, Tommy, Ranboo, Technoblade, Schlatt, EVERYONE. He's pitted everyone against eachother because he loves the chaos. Because he knows that if they weaken eachother it'll be a lot easier to take control with less effort put in from his part. Dream has always been the main antagonist from the very very beginning. Sure some could say Tommy started it with the discs but Dream was the one who took them in the first place etc.
He's also pitted the audience against eachother. It's really interesting in how he's actually manipulated the audience. It doesn't matter who's on what side or who's wronged who when the cause for all their greif has always been Dream. The fandom is fighting over traitors and betrayals and villain arcs. It doesn't matter, not when Dream is runnin free with the amount of power that he has.

honestly ngl i also kinda feel like c!dream apologists are also doing a huge disservice to cc!dreams writing of his character too
because c!dream is a brilliant character, but he is an awful person. hes also very complex, because he is someone who wasnt completely evil at the start (although he definitely wasnt purely Good either), and man obviously has some issues of some sort but in the end he CHOSE to be the person he is now. to abandon all attachments (except, ironically, his attachment to tommy), to do the horrid things he did, to manipulate, control, kill, lie, etc etc
c!dream is a very interesting character with a lot of potential to have his views, ideals, and morals taken apart and analysed, but it doesnt change the fact he is ultimately, a bad person, and has done awful things. and i love people who try to give that in-depth look to his character and understand hes also more complicated than just “bad guy being bad”
so saying “c!dream did nothing wrong and also c!tommy deserved what he got” is not only gross victim blaming (who cares if its in fictional minercaft roleplay it was acted and thought out really well and showed some heavy themes if its not such a big deal then why dont you say the same about dreams imprisonment and torture then hm? seems like blatant hypocrisy to me) but also a disservice to both cc!dream and cc!tommys writing and acting lmao
im just forever convinced c!dream apologists who say stuff like that are one or more of these, if not all:
cant seperate c!dream from cc!dream and therefore think c!dream can do no wrong and is justified in everything he does because its dream
dislike cc!tommy because often the excuses are “oh hes annoying” or whatever, and most of the “annoying” stuff c!tommy supposedly does is actually just cc!tommy goofing around and trying to be a bit chaotic for fun, yet again unable to seperate c! from cc!
just lack all critical thought and ability to criticise their favourite media and characters, take everything at face value and dont realise things are deeper than they seem, and also the characters are all unreliable narrators because of POV and human nature, so you need to consider all povs, facts, and use your brain as well as take actual narrative clues and context into consideration
think the world is black and white, and dont realise characters, just like real people, can be very complex, and there isnt a single person out there who is purely good or purely bad. but also dont you dare use that to say “oh theyre all morally grey so its ok” because as @/miss-match01 once said “a darker white and a lighter black are both technically grey. but that in no way makes them the same colour”. guess what. ALL characters have done some bad stuff and deserve criticism, but they still hold different implications and weight?? thats just common sense lol, its like trying to compare “someone punched me in the face” to “he ran someone over with a car on purpose”
sorry for the long rant idk if it all makes sense but i just get pissed off at people who see ANY character as completely pure and right (yes that includes c!tommy apologists too, the whole thing about c!tommy is that hes done some bad stuff but hes at least self aware and its trying to be better. saying he is “free of all blame and done nothing wrong” is also just blatant misunderstanding of his character and erasing everything that makes his character so interesting and compelling). but the absolute worst are c!dream apologists imo lmao so. heres a rant 👍
I am on my hands and knees begging for cc!Dream to say something at this point. Make them Stop. They feel too comfortable saying this shit

#ARRGG its like. Ok. Puts my head in my hands#THEYRE both COMPLEX . and morally grey and way more than just like.#This is the Hero! This is the Villain!#YES akira is the protagonist and ryo ends up as the antagonist BUT NOT#because of 'akira good ryo bad' it isnt that simple#ryo spent most of his time as a deuteragonist anyways#like one of the major themes of devilman is the Anti War thing which#is about how both ryo and akira were responsible for what happened#go nagai doesnt even portray ryo as EVIL. like.#he makes ryo EXTREMELY sympathetic at the end.#whats the big idea...
preserving these tags cause I agree with this wholeheartedly
like, technically ryo does take an antagonistic role. but. akira at the end of devilman wasn't Good either. like, it wasn't just ryo. that was very much an important part of the manga. that akira's desire for revenge and anger warped his views (along with literal demon possession) and drove him to extremes. like, we can't pretend that ryo is the only one responsible for what happened at the end... "akira is a hero and ryo is a villain" is such a common misconception that it is honestly exhausting
