Fellas, is it wrong to consider DS! Dream to be similar to Batman? Just a very, very, VERY murderous and unforgiving to criminals version of Batman who acts like an emotional constipated boy scout?

Not outwardly though. I'm pretty sure DS! Dream seems to be an emotionally available (specifically not emotionally vulnerable) kind of person to most. But it's canon that DS! Dream keeps people at a distance. And like, DS! Dream has a reputation to uphold and he is not about to be seen fumbling after his many, many efforts despite his anxiety. But man is in denial to the.. bad parts, of his extreme ideology that I'm pretty he has all those "negative/doubts" at the back burner of his mind and isn't about to confront what killing DS! Mare will end up like for him. What killing all criminals—instead of rehabilitating the few��would mean. Pretty sure that'll lead to a very meltdown, existential crisis, shutting down or possibly frantic acts of extreme redemptions. DS! Dream is a responsible kind of guy, so he'll definitely try to upheave the system (that he made) first to fix it first. Do a "leave no stones unturned" kind of thing.

But my point is that DS! Dream is like Batman who has Bruce Wayne's reputation (not being a playboy but a philanthropist) and Justice Reigns is like Wayne Enterprise.

THIS IS SO REAL. ive had this hc for ages but like honestly ive been trying to figure out how exactly it would work... i like thinking abt how characters transness would really look, how it affects them and their lives etc

with the toons in general its. Hard. since they have cartoon counterparts which presumably have the same thoughts n personalities and insecurities and emotions and everything then surely they would feel the same way about their gender that they were written to feel ? either the character was intentionally written to be transgender in the show or. yknow like many real trans people they just felt differently about the gender they were written to have. that they were put in the wrong body, that theyre forced to play a character who they arent and it feels off in a way. a "mistake" in their creation, in the way their cartoon conscious was put into their physical toon body. plus theres the issue that in the dw lore all of the toons were made around the 90s and regardless of the circumstances would gardenview allow one of their toons to change their appearance or pronouns???? would they not allow it because they dont want parents angry and they dont want kids to be confused as to why the toon in the cartoon character is so different from the real toon?

so... theres a few ways ive thought abt it but im really not sure which one is most appealing to me/makes the most sense.

a) rodger was actually a girl in the cartoons. pretend like all the posters and cartoon episodes depicted him as a girl!! but he was allowed to transition in his real toon form. provides some fun trans angst maybe because he has to stare at photos and posters of who he was meant to be and maybe feel a little guilty thinking that he failed at being who he was written as. has to deal with confused kids and angry parents because society is still iffy about trans people

b) rodger was written as a trans man from the start. possibly just some obscure lore that was never mentioned in the cartoons, at most hinted at, because they didnt want people to get angry at there being an openly trans character. nobody really comments on it, but since he has the memories of his cartoon counterpart he has memories of a time from before he had transitioned

c) rodger is some other flavor of trans (amab but doesnt feel masculine? feels enby or female or some other gender) but in his circumstances he cant really transition or even openly admit that he feels this way. just stuck in this body and cant do anything about it because of the environment hes in - gardenview would never allow it. (could also be that rodger is still transmasc, hes just afab and is stuck unable to transition in a different way, but hed probably look different and have a different name altogether)

if anyone has any more ideas let me know pleaaasee🙏🙏i LOVE talking about transness in characters its like one of my favorite things in the whole world.

I do honestly think you can learn creativity as a skill. At the end of the day creativity is about bringing two distinct concepts together and creating something new and cohesive. Its a little like cooking, if you're not a skilled cook you might mix ingredients that don't go together, and maybe you mix ingredients that do go together but you fail an important step and the texture turns out wrong, but at the same time if you only use similar ingredients your food will taste sort of bland.

you learn to get better at it by watching other people and hearing their process and seeing the results. You learn what techniques work to bring these flavors together and how to proportion your spices so one doesnt overpower the other. After a while of studying other people that gives you some confidence and it allows you to experiment and when things fail you learn more from it than you did before because you have a better idea of the mechanics of what are going on. the main thing is you have to understand how these different elements FIT together. its easy to say that you like salted caramel but if your a pastry chef its probably important to understand why theyre such a good mix and thats something you can learn from cooking science and use for your own creations

Though I have been wondering what Shadow's beef with Sonic really boils down to. I highly doubt it but maybe Sonic reminds him more of Maria than he even wants to believe? I can understand that there's more parallels with Maria and Amy than with Sonic and Amy. Putting myself in Shadow's shoes; I have a sister, I love like Shadow loves Maria. We are the best fucking friends. I can talk to her about ANYTHING. We're a team. But when it comes to finding a romantic partner, I dont want to look at my partner and just think of my sister lmao. But I would like a similar feeling. Comfortable, understanding, to have that team work, and able to talk about anything to them. is it ever stated in anyones canon how dream and nightmare feel things like inks emotions?

im guessing not bc ive seen multiple interpretations of this. and im here to pitch in w my own based on a random thought that struck me.

i think theyd be able to feel them, but theyre just. off. like a fake flavor.

like where "authentic" emotions are like, lets say, strawberry flavor, like eating them straight off the runner, inks are more like the strawberry flavor youd get in candy.

and i think thats not really enough for either.

dream cant draw as much power from inks emotions as he would someone else. same goes for nightmare, plus hes not as satisfied sith inks negativity as that of others.

i do, however, like inks emotions being harder to detect for both. its nit that they cant, but its much wispier and easier to miss (especially depending on emotion and intensity)

in a similar vein, i like them not being able to detect killers emotions, but i think they would.

again, its harder. this time, instead of eating the strawberries or something strawberry-flavored, youre standing near a field of them but theres an unscalable fence between you and it so you cant get to them.

killers emotions are, most of the time, extremely diluted. neither twin is able to draw much from them. however, negativity almost radiates off of him. even when he cant really process his emotions, he ends up not feeling great. even though its weak, its steady enough for nm to like and to feed (plus, if he feels like really making a feast out of killer, he can always push him into a different stage)

both twins can detect him, but it takes some concentration. otherwise, he gets lost among the feelings of others.

i think in places like nightmares castle, which is completely overrun by negativity, hes a lot harder to detect. an off-tune thrum in an orchestra of a thousand instruments. occasionally, you hear something off, but its hard to tell above the other noise. similarly, big, populated places mask him well. hes easier to track in small groups (or if its literally only him) or in areas where he would contrast (like a place of only positivity, in which his negativity, no matter how faint, would stick out like a sore thumb)

the many-eyes dont have a specific place and they are not visible in the tattoos (small fun fact tho, his tattoos never look the same; when they manifest and turn back to his body they take their designated place but the way they wind around his arms and up is never the same, it always looks a bit different)

saran can tell the og owner by eye. the reason why saran is so powerful and considered a greater evil is bc his negative energy is massive and constantly growing; each eye he consumes makes him grow in power bc the owners negative energy gets eaten by him and added to his own. thats how he can tell the owner too (by the residual flavor of energy from the eyes)

it got nothing to do with the eye plucking thing tho; the eyes are maintained and saturated by sarans own negative energy which is why they adapt to him both in vision and appearance. its just the moment they leave his body and energy, they turn back to how they looked before

tma/tmagp spoilers below!!

im very hesitant to make any theories about the type of powers at work in the tmagp universe, i dont think theyre the exact same set we had in tma, but i do think the old fears exist in some capacity in this dimension, but likely as different factions, all swirled together, one huge conglomerate, or a secret fourth thing (mixing with whatever entities originally existed in this universe). but after the recent few tmagp episodes im starting to think the old fears (and their divisions) are still playing a role in how the powers are manifesting.

ink5oul is largely an eye-coded avatar to me. they seem to be following a similar path to tma avatars (ink5oul has their own agenda and is researching old tattoo artists and likely has a connection to alchemy in some respect). as an influencer, they feed from the fear of people watching their content and the person whos being tattooed. their victims that we know about have also been somewhat eye-adjacent. in episode 2, they feed off of a woman who suffers from extreme body dysmorphia and is hyper-aware of how others perceive her. she refuses to turn on her camera for therapy, constantly compares her own appearance to others, and insists her therapist perceive her as sane. madam e is similar in that the perceptions of others physically harms her. she says that the hate comments and online drama were cutting her, saying she could feel it when people viewed her content. her body deteriorated because she was famous, because she made a call out video, because she just wanted to be known. these are both incredibly eye-aligned incidents, though they do have aspects of other powers.

other incidents have struck me as overwhelmingly similar to fears we knew from tma, episodes 15 and 14 were heavy handed with their tma fear alignments. lady mowbray is the head of a hunting party who instructed a man to chase after his coworkers and kill them to prove himself as worthy prey, exploring a twist on themes of pack hunting we saw in tma. in episode 14 we get a man whos been puppeted by snakes, operating a disgusting shop infested with pests and littered with rotting food- obviously adjacent to the corruption. just like with ink5oul's victims, these cases also had elements that related to other fears, but ultimately i think they highlight a specific type of fear within each incident. even tma statements had cases that overlapped- confession/desecrated host, monster pig, lost johns cave, murder club. i do think that the tma fears still exist in the tmagp universe, and im actually coming to believe theyre operating similar to in their "original" (who knows) universe, but with some extra variables to scrabble things around.

im still super vague on what i think is affecting the fears, and i doubt ill subscribe to a true concrete theory before we get a reveal, but i do have some loose connections across the tmagp episodes so far. alchemy has been an obvious aspect of whatever is making tmagp's fears a different flavor to tma's fears. the logo for the series is of the trinity expressing the mind, body, and soul- together creating the philosopher's stone, a key to immortality. im being careful to not draw many connections to tma since i believe this to be largely an independent storyline, but this draws some obvious similarities to jonah's pursuits of immortality, ruling the world, and combining the fears to create one all-powerful entity. or, as lena said, creating balance. im unsure of how this is playing out so far- i think whatever big bad (if there is one) that wants to disrupt or bring about this balance is either not known to us yet or has yet to fulfill their arc into a big bad (this could be a corruption arc for someone like sam or gwen, or a reveal of big bads lurking in the background like jmj). but whatever the details of that are, im confident that achieving a balance and connection of the alchemic trinity is a key aspect of how the fears are being expressed in this universe. i mean, there were never really 14 fears, but they still manifested that way because they were partially constructed by human minds. if this universe comprehends them through the lens of alchemy, seeing them as manifestations of the mind, the body, and the soul, then they'll likely conform to that in some way.

another thread i think might be relevant is the amount of gore and personal harm in just about every incident so far. in almost every case we've seen theres been some instance of pain, loss, and intentional harm. this is especially connected to getting a response or reward (being fed) from the encounter. needles needs to cause fear, and he accomplishes that through physically harming someone. the murder violin and the fedora guy dice are both fed by the suffering of others. ink5oul made one girl tear into her own face, and made another self inflict her own heart problems. lady mowbray is a devout cannibal. i dont feel the need to get into mr bonzos messy history. for every avatar/external/feeder of these powers, they inflict a physical mark or pain upon the people theyre feeding from. this draws a much more physical horror than the more psychological fears we dealt with in tma. im not entirely sure what this means in terms of its connections with alchemy and the fears, im not sure if its a real dot to connect or not, but its some food for thought!

can i ask for child reader that has a sensitive constitution? like they have to be careful with the things they feed the reader because it could make them sick, but now they want to make something different for them except for the fact that they dont know what to give them without harming the reader. so hades, brunhilde, heracles, eve and adam are all like arguing about what to make for food while the reader is pouting, clueless about their bickering because theyre hungry and just want to eat but still getting nothing, so in the end buddha and loki end up giving them the same simple snacks, and the others just kind of sigh and try harder next time !

Buggy with a partner thats the other side of the proverbial coin

-they look a bit strange together but as soon as they open their mouths you realize, theyre the same person in different flavors.

- Buggy is like a parrot, his partner is like a crow, theyre both smart, chaotic, and fond of shiny things.

- Buggy is a morning person, his partner sleeps past noon

- his partner speaks in a very blunt and efficient manner, or tries to. The truth is theyre incredibly awkward and terrible with words, zero charisma, so they default to speaking un a straightforward way since doing any theatrics never ends up how they intended. Theyre very jealous of Buggy's natural charisma and his way with words, they wish they could come up with witty comebacks, or even save a joke that didn't land like he does.

- Buggy shouts a lot and is genuinely scary when reprimanding his crew, but his actual words are pretty lenient. His partner is very calm and gentle sounding, they even sound encouraging, but their words are cutthroat, and they're not even trying to be mean, they just... expect better. The crew hates it when Buggy asks them to look over their acts.

- just like Buggy seems to attract attention especially when he doesnt want to, his partner fades into the background no matter where they are or what absurd thing they do, and they're perfectly happy with that, they're happy enough being part of the audience, hates having to do "plot relevant" work.

- dresses in blacks and grays exclusively, no particular style, likes dressing to match their surroundings, but always in dull and dark colors. Buggy is conflicted because he has no idea how to get them clothes at first, but then he realizes the outfits CAN be eye catching and over the top, they just have to be black and white! They end up looking like a mime when hanging out with his crew, which makes them disappear amongst the rest of the circus, so it works out.

- unlike Buggy, his partner is very confident in themself and their appearance. It kinda boosts his own self esteem as well, since if someone that comfortable in their own skin is into him, he must have something nice going on.

- regardless of gender, Buggy loves shoving his face on his partner's chest, he keeps a bandana specifically dedicated for putting in on said chest in order to protect his partner's clothes from his makeup, its kind of adorable, which is why he usually only does it when theyre alone

- theyre both bisexual, because I say so, and they check out hot people together, they play smash or pass with wanted posters and other people that appear on the journal. They have very different tastes and every time they both wonder how they even got together.

Big post ahead. descriptions of how our main 5 senses are like to my 2 sophont species, ehwi and óhwa

Touch: the overall sensitivity of their bodies is lower than ours, and their skin is thicker. Specially on their feet, that always feel like they're wearing shoes. lol

However, they have greater sensitivity and thinner skin is certain areas of the body like their hands, forehead/nose bridges, cheeks, the stomach, and the base of their tails. Their foreheads r one of the areas with the most nerve endings so forehead nuzzling is a common form of affection c: very pleasant

Sight: Their sight is similar to ours, if only a bit blurrier. On ehwi in particular, their secondary set of eyes is to grant them greater peripheral vision but its been so long that theyre not hunted (and therefore dont need the extra vision) that the second pair of eyes have become smaller and with much blurrier vision, so they're functionally useless. On óhwa, the second pair has been fully "evolved" out leaving just a small hole in their craniums that results in an indent next to their eyes

Their color perception is close to ours as they too have 3 cones in their eyes. However they see things with a bit less contrast than we do, and with duller colors overall

Smell, hearing: They don't meaningfully differentiate between the two. They do not smell through their nostrils, and instead they have tiny vibrissae in their ears that feel substances/particles in the air (what we would perceive as smell) but its sent to the brain and interpreted the same way as sound. So all smells 'sound' like different frequencies and vibrations, some of which can be pleasant or painful to hear. Their ears by default are held close to their heads, so they will raise them to let air into their ears to be able to smell, but can put them back down to cease it. Their sense of hearing overall is heightened, but they can hear especially well cymbals and sounds with higher frequencies (higher than we humans can), and have a slightly harder time hearing deep bass.

Taste: Their sense of taste is a bit different than ours. for one, the main flavors they categorize things in are:

"Floral", "grassy", "sweet", "fishy".

They wouldnt use THESE english words but this is the most accurate descriptions of what these flavors would taste like to us if we ate their food. like flowers, grass, sugar, and seafood

They cannot taste spiciness in things, but they can taste bitterness which they find pleasant (see: grassy)

While they can taste sodium/salt, its a very mild flavor to them and they cant ingest much of it so its often omitted from their food as an additive, so their sodium intake is only what their foods already have in them

Propaganda why Alex Eagleston is insufferable:

literally causes the end of the world by being The Absolute Worst and has done so multiple times including his alternate selves. he technically has three (and a half) love interests (cause theyre the only characters he can/attempt to kiss or express any attraction to) and he treats them all poorly first three vella sammy and essentia 2000 are cause hes a misogynist but they all get different flavors of it sammy gets fridged for the plot of the game and is basically never relevant again outside of a secret(?) ending. shes also based off of a real life dead person for no fucking reason. vella is subjected to weird speculation about her age in her introduction scene with alex saying something along the lines of she cant be older than him cause shes too pretty (alex is like 24 and vella 27 from what i recall its been a few years since ive thought about yiik) and has a weird internal monologue about his feminist ex girlfriend prompted by vella just existing. theres a weird scene when alex asks her if shes korean n says she looks vaguely ethnic making her uncomfortable. One Of His Alternate Selves Literally Caused Her To Leave Her Home Dimension Cause Of How Poorly He Treated Her and the context behind that is that to leave the world/timeline/dimension/whatever you're originally from you basically have to be super suicidal and he pushed her to that point by ghosting her for a while and next time vella saw him he was hooking up with a girl noticably younger than her (<- remember this) and immediately after being told this he can attempt to kiss her which has no actual repercussions. essentia 2000 is like technically supposed to be evil i guess but her goal is supposed to be killing alex so i cant fault her on that. the in game day after they first meet alex has like a monologue about how special and attractive she is ""she was like water filling all my cracks"" or some shit. all three girls are alternates of eachother and are on a sliding scale of how objectified they are by alex with who got it the worst depending on which aspect you're focusing on. other sort of love interest is rory (diversity loss!) who alex can attempt to kiss after he confides in him about something when rory is like 18-19 (hes meant to be about the same age as michael whos recently graduated high school) and depending on how alex treats him can literally kill himself and alex's reaction to learning this is to only focus on how terrible he feels before moving on n rory's death never being mentioned again. the whole point of the game is that alex is a piece of shit who cant even buy groceries for his mom without throwing a hissy fit about it but it undermines itself constantly by having characters forgive or just stop being mad at alex on a dime after hes been exceedingly shitty towards them in various ways and any sort of charm or endearing traits he had quickly wearing off due to him never shutting the fuck up. near the end of the game all the other party members are killed off in quick succession leaving alex by himself and all he can do is sulk in self pity before going on a space adventure or whatever to stop an alternate him thats linked to an alternate essentia and enlisting the player as a different alternate him to help fight various superficial flaws of himself (which arent even like the actual things that make him insufferable n a bad person) n then finish the job for him. i need to punt him into the sun

He constantly goes on annoying monologues about things that nobody cares about. In game he is meant to be kind of an asshole, but they never give him the necessary character development to make him feel like a proper flawed protagonist, yet the narrative makes him out to be a character who is ""deep down a good guy"". Also he doesn't seem to care about any of his friends/party members.

"""YIIK"" is a poorly written, irony-poisoned RPG using a real life actual unsolved murder as the basis for an inciting event, altered so that what happened to the victim was some ~scary supernatural stuff~ and also Alex was there being vaguely misogynistic the whole time and monologuing to no-one in a way no real human person thinks uncritically.

The game intends to paint Alex as a bad person, but this is implemented in such a snide and uninteresting manner which has nothing to actually say about him being this way, nor is it at all fun or entertaining to experience.

He has no idea what's going on, blindly following the plot with the vague motivation of being suddenly stricken with affection for a girl he basically called a freak as soon as he met her five minutes ago. He is self-absorbed, lazy and overconfident, constantly bemoaning and ignoring the needs and feelings of others. He is the only character given enough breathing space to have something to him, and yet manages to not even feel any sort of dimensional.

Also his shirt is an ad for the dev's last game.

An incel who always screams about everything and yet is overly pretentious about everything.

oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!! i am absolutely going through it anon. so basically there is this book series called all for the game by nora sakavic that you should totally read (the first book is called the foxhole court -- but please check out a list of trigger warnings for it because it is very heavy and deals with a lot of serious and painful topics. i myself have had to disconnect for some of the scenes and come back when i was ready; its completely okay to do so, or to not read the books at all if its uncomfortable). its about gay athletes, guys just going through the absolute worst, the yakuza, fucked up families, a running game of how pathetic can you get answered in 15 different ways by each person, fucked up relationships, all not-so-neatly packaged into a completely made up fictional sport. (its funny because i am NOT a sports person and barely even understand cricket even though i watch it all the time, but i know the rules of exy forwards, backwards, and inside out. its that serious.)

i also need to warn you that the first book is slow. the second book is also kind of slow. i personally didnt have any trouble with it because im more of a character reader and aftg had PLENTYYY to keep me busy, but i think its a fair warning if youre sensitive to pace. however. the payoff is so incredibly worth it. its an amazing read with obsession-worthy characters, detailed and balanced plot beats, flowing and natural dialogue, very creative sports , and the relationships will make you want to reread it twenty thousand times. the romance is also the slowest burn to ever burn. if youre going in for romance at the start, you Will Not Get what you want -- but you will get it. i think we as a fandom focus on the romances a lot (im new so dont take my word for it) but its 1) because we're tumblr dont come and 2) because the romances and relationships are incredibly interesting to see through the lens of the books and vice versa. what i really love most (and youll see this in the ec doc) is that it feels like each and every choice was deliberately made by the author to make the book. like. down to the ice cream flavor they get at one point. especially with the sunshine court, i feel like i can see exactly where she made a choice and what mightve happened if that choice wasnt made. its intoxicated to read. it feels like breathing and it feels like drowning.

i just read the sunshine court (where jean and jeremy are more from) so thats what all the recent stuff has been, but you should read the foxhole court series first for it to make sense. i think tsc is 100000x times better and better written than tfc but you have to work for it lol. and!!!!! the author is on tumblr (@/korakos)! also if you do read it, please tell me!!!!!! you can keep sending anons or you can dm me or you can come to my house and live in my room but tell me!!!!! theres also an extra content doc (thanks @jeansyvesmoreau for sending this to me) between the series' (so after the kings men, before the sunshine court) that you should definitely definitely read. but im getting ahead of myself.

you took the time to think about him, so hes going to take the time to think about you too... though you have no clue where hes getting the food from

NINA

loves sour candies, so you get her a pack while youre at the store

loves you for it and will be vocal about it! will share the candy with you, and perhaps may show you some of her favorite combos to do with it

you both experience the energy drink candy thing .... never again, at least until you catch her trying to do it again with different combos to see if "it will change the outcome" if the flavors or brands are changed

alternatively if you get her a drink that comes in the can shes going to keep the tab and possibly do something with it- personal headcanon that she has a necklace decorated with the things

will tease you for thinking about him while at the store, dont let him fool you though hes ecstatic that you were on his mind even when you were away

youd notice that he would sit down and paint for... long periods of time, without stopping to go eat a meal so youve decided to remedy that by getting him those variety packs of snacks!

it slowly becomes a habit to buy him a box every few weeks to make sure hes got something on hand

doesnt mind that you do it though he doesnt seem like he would be pressed if you let him run out

the idea of rin and shoujo romance reader going to like a farmers market sort of thing makes me weep bc it is absolutely how that would go. reader would wake way earlier than usual and she'd drag rin into it and hold his hand in public and he's telling her that it's lame but in reality she doesn't even seem that bothered. reader would know all the vendors by name and when they hand her cut fruit on sticks to taste she always lets rin eat first which makes him blush like crazy. she is So excited about the strawberries but she also really likes melons and gets excited to have rin carry them.

i feel like there are many things like that in their relationship where rin doesn't think he can love her more but then. does anyhow.
