this episode made me realize i know little to nothing about space in any capacity. what are we doing up there? how do we get up there? what is "the payload"? beats me. personally, i think it's not our business.

premise of the episode was basically that one post: "moon's haunted" "what?" *loading a pistol* "moon's haunted"

the folks at NASA toted around our intrepid heroes in a little cart, which made me laugh. what also made me laugh was scully saying that "we thought we could rest easy with the fall of the Soviet Union" oh how simpler the times were! back when there was Hope for things!

the episode was also very dedicated to crushing mulder's dreams in that he realized his childhood hero was a jerk. can our poor friend fox have anything in this lifetime.

however his childhood obsession with astronauts is very nerdy. the depths to which his nerdiness extends are seemingly limitless. this man was like TREMBLING in the space guy's presence.

but in the end his childhood hero who was a jerk was actually trying to save the day! so perhaps that justifies his unlikable personality!

overall, sure, maybe space has ghosts. or aliens up there that possess you but just look a lot like ghosts. why not?

(this episode felt less focused on actual spooky stuff and more on exploring mulder's psyche which i'm absolutely fine with because i want to put that man on a bench and listen to him explain everything that every happened in his life in painstaking detail while i nod occasionally. i think character driven episodes are great and i request one on scully immediately! need to give her the same interrogation treatment! these are my babygirls!)

My last post was being snarky but here's my genuine pronoun etiquette opinion in case you actually want to know: it's pretty much never a good idea to directly ask someone their pronouns in front of a group of people, especially if you're in a position of authority, i.e. a teacher. The stakes of this question are very high for some people and you are putting them on the spot to decide what they want to share and what is safe to share. If you have decided you want to ask for pronouns at all, you can introduce yourself with your own to remind people that they can share theirs if they want to. And for the love of god whatever you do please do not just single out the most gender non-conforming or "trans looking" (to you) person and ask only them and no one else

don't stress about that opportunity that fell through or that friend you lost or that thing you really want to happen but isn't. as long as you keep your chin up and try try try again, better things will replace your losses. i'm looking at my life rn and actually marveling at how every single thing i stressed about, whether it be an opportunity or a person, got supplanted w another thing that is so much better. it really is true that loss makes space for better things. these days i don't get sad when something doesn't work out. i get excited that i'm now open to so many other possibilities out there, so long as i actively seek them. you never lack. you just transition.
