this hgappened monthssss ago but im still kinda pissed about it ok so i wrote a fic about grain just grain others were mentioned but they weren't important and no where in my fic was there any shipping much less scarian (Im the no.1 scarian hater) but it was written after the first session of Secret life and so it like vaguely referenced it cause it followed grain through each of the seasons and after SL ended someone posted a fic "inspired" by my fic where it followed the same premise, same style, even copied down some sentences and paragraphs word for word exactly how I did

im still upset cause they added SL at the end of their fic, and added scarian into the fic and because of the ship their fic is more popular than mine!!!!!! I'm upset still!!!!!!!! so to author of said fic I'm hunting you down btw xoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxo

I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.

For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.

When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

So fun fact: the "stan" in "stan culture" is from an old Eminem song called Stan. In it, a guy named Stan is a "super fan" of Em and falls into madness when Em doesn't answer his mail. The story ends really badly.

I find it interesting that it lead to words or expressions like "Stanning someone" or "Stan culture" and regroups both extreme people and people who just stumbled in and liked the vibe of an artist.

But honestly, idols worship is (especially in Korea, China...) is incredibly messed up. The companies and society are at fault for this because they have idols dedicate their time to their fans and now with the rise of social media the boundaries between idols and fans are more and more blurred. Which leads for some people to disregard that what they paid for is an album (which they possess) or a concert or a short discussion at a fan meet NOT the idol themselves.

Being an idol is a job, it's NOT who they are. We don't know them, they don't know us, we are simply more aware of their existence because of the exposure that comes with their job. It's the same with other celebrities, we paid for a movie or to watch a game not for the person.

The voyeurism people feel justified to partake in when it comes to famous people is mind boggling. Why would anyone want to know who they married or who they're going out with, what their parents did or if they ate chocolate cake this morning.

It's their PRIVATE life. You are not owed that knowledge. They already performed what you paid for. Let them live.

if you ever think any fandom is insane, "fans" of K-pop group RIIZE (I'd call them anti fans, tbh) bought thousands of funeral wreaths and displayed them in front of the group's company as protest against a member who was discovered to have had a girlfriend in high school before he debuted

they bullied a 20 year old almost to death for the crime of dating, i mean, they practically wished him death with those funeral wreaths

he has now left the group to protect the rest of the members and paparazzi and "fans" alike have been stalking them and following them everywhere, through airports, private events, posting photos of them acting as if they've won, while the boys look absolutely miserable

and the only reason these crazies even found out about the ex gf is because someone in Seunghan's life was saving his photos from his private Instagram, held on to them for years and posted them publicly after he debuted knowing this would happen

and the takes I've seen from the K-fans, C-fans etc. are certified not well
