Tim doesn’tjust ask about a game night.

Well, maybehe does. To his other siblings. Oneswho aren’t excommunicated from the Batcave and who don’t heckle him. Damianmight be a tougher pill to swallow, but at least he was still in family goodgraces, all irritating aspects aside. So Bruce was out of the house, and Dickwas busy. Or dead. Probably dead. Both Bruce and Dick are probably dead. That’s why he’s the last resort.

(Consideringthe family’s track record, Jason figures he shouldn’t joke, but come on.)

Tim doesn’tjust ask about a game night.

Which is why,thirty minutes after Jason gets Tim’s message, he’s kicking the younger ward’s door in with arms full of junk he pickedup in the ten minutes he allotted himself inside a 7-Eleven.

“So! Ibrought the snacks, who we murdering tonight?”

Tim jumps atthe sudden burst, wide-eyed and clutching at his chest with a look that can’tbe deciphered between being ready to kill his older brother or wanting tolaugh.

“Jeez, Jason!”

“The one andthe same.” Jason dumps the three convenience store bags on the foot of Tim’sbed and sets down the six-pack of sodas that he nabbed on the side table. “Youasked and I answered.”

Tim’s mouthtwists as Jason makes himself at home, hooking an ankle around the rollers ofTim’s computer chair and parking himself in it. Was he regretting it? Thinkingmaybe even a dead Dick was a better option? Didn’t matter, ‘cause he got Jason,and Jason was going to at least do one thingright in this family of Bats.

He grabs twosodas, still cool from the store fridge, and starts to hand one to the youngerbird – only to hesitate as Tim’s hand reaches for it.

“You canhave this only if you tell me what’sgoing on.”

“Only if what’s going on?”

“This.”Jason gestures to the glow of the T.V. screen, console, snacks, the air betweenhimself and Tim, “Game night.”

Tim’s lookof surprise is bad and the mock-dismay in his voice sounds even worse. Even an old,blind dog wouldn’t buy it. And he was a Robin.“We sit and play games and it’s at night? I’m not on patrol rotation until my shoulderheals.”

“Timbit.”

Jason knowsthe family. What they do. More specifically, what they do where he’s concerned. Dick’s idea of spendingtime is catching up in a little twenty-four hour diner for breakfast andtalking too much at eight in the morning. Alfred calls to check in when Bruceis in a business meeting and can’t screen it. Damian encounters him on patroland makes snide assumptions about what Jason’s really doing in the city. Tim’s idea is feeding him bits of intelevery week, sprinkled lightly, and if they’re both lucky he’s convenientlysomewhere they can talk business and family matters. It’s convenience, though.Tim Drake doesn’t just ask Jason to hangout. The family hasn’t gotten to that point yet (and frankly, Jason’s noteven sure they will).

Tim knows thatcut-the-bullshit voice and sighs, defeated. Jason tilts the bottle towards Timagain, and the boy takes it gently.

“Shortversion?” Tim says, “Steph and I had a fight.”

Jasonwhistles. “Alright. Fair. I won’t ask for the long version.”

That toedthe line a little too close to feelsy, andJason didn’t do feelsy. Nobody did,really, unless by miracle of just how stubborn Dick was feeling in that particularmoment. It was an unspoken rule, maybe an unspoken way of thinking passed down tothe broods from the Bat himself.

“Thanks.”

Just like that,they move onwards – turns out Tim knows all the illicit shortcuts and tricks toMario Kart 8, because of course hefucking does. Come to find out, he’s also a little monster at Katamari, whichis news to Jason, because how thefuck are you supposed to win atKatamari? The couch co-ops continue to boost Tim’s ego just that little bitmore and serve to frustrate Jay, but even when it’s on the third round of Smashand it’s nearing two in the morning, other than a barked swear he just throwshis head back and admits defeat.

“Jesus, you’resmarter than the damn Batcomputer.”

“I know,”Tim retorts smugly, resting his chin on his hand. “But thanks anyways.”

“No, seriously.Like –” Jason looks at him, really looksat him, and sits forward in his chair. “Look, I know I call you like, ninekinds of names all the time, but I mean it. You’re smart as hell.”

Maybe it’sthe fact that it’s late at night. That’s probably it. It’s definitely not the fact that they’ve been playing games and Jason’sfallen to the throes of despair from his defeats, but also risen to somethingakin to cloud nine that he’s playing a game with his brother and enjoying it. It’s not work-related, it’s not someconsolation visit when he and Bruce bicker again, it’s just…. Normal.

It feelslike how this whole damn family should feel,Bat and Robin costumes aside. It’s something Jason’s never really familiarwith, always close but never hitting the mark. Bizarro and Artemis are great intheir own right, they’re family too, but Jason thinks this is probably the only night in his life where he’s spentit getting his ass kicked and enjoyed it.

Nope. Notabout that at all.

Tim lookssurprised – really surprised now,actually genuine and not full of bad acting – at Jason’s words.

“Where’sthis all coming from, Jay?”

Oop. Toomuch touchy feely.

Jason cardsa hand through his hair, sighing.

“I just wantyou to know – I’ll always call you names and give you shit and maybe punch you a few times, but at theend of it? I’m glad you messaged me. I’ll do all that stuff and have your back, too. That’s all.”

That’s it.Done. Jason reaches back behind him towards the nightstand, grabbing the lastof the sodas, not at all impervious but decidedly choosing to ignore the wayTim’s face looks as he tries to process the unusual set of sentiments comingfrom his older brother.

Instead ofletting him come up with a reply, Jason just downs a quarter of the bottle andsnatches his controller.

“Alright.Now. We will find a game where I canbeat your ass and I will not leaveuntil we find it.”

I’ll do all that stuff and have your back, too. Tim’s smile blooms and he laughs, shaking hishead.

“I don’tthink it’ll happen, but we’ll see.”

Taking Chances Chapter 3: Happy Little Accidents (Identities)

Marinette stared at the man in front of her, trying not to let her jaw drop. Sure she’d seen pictures of Bruce Wayne last night, Adrien made sure she was well educated on the man’s less than ideal fashion choices. But his choice of a sharp suit or his eyes that too closely matched hers weren’t why her jaw dropped. No, her jaw dropped because-

“Batman!” She says, in a wonderful moment of word association added to the man’s height and build. Mr. Wayne’s eyebrow quirks up and Marinette’s face instantly turns bright red as she hears the snickers of her classmates around her. Marinette immediately wishes that they would have left her and gone back to the bus without her, but no such luck. Instead they got to see her embarrass herself in front of her bio dad for the first time. Not that they knew that, but still. It was the principle of the thing.

“I-” Mr. Wayne starts, but she cuts him off.

“Oh, no, oh my god, I’m- no, I’m so, so sorry. I just, you’re- and you- and well yesterday, um, so I just, you seemed really familiar and I saw Batman yesterday so I said it and I shouldn't have and I'm so sorry I'm just freaking out cause my bi- ohhhhh….I mean-” Marinette rambles on, her blush darkening as she tries and fails to let out a coherent sentence in front of the man. She’s mercifully saved by the sharp blare of an akuma alert, the phones of every one of her classmates blaring at the same time. Mr. Wayne and the other employees in the lobby of Wayne Enterprises look confused, but Marinette is relieved.

“What-” Mr. Wayne tries to ask, but is cut off yet again.

“Oh well that’s not good gotta go call Paris-bye!” She yells, rushing away from the group and towards the bathrooms. She groans at the look Kaalki give her when she opens her purse.

“That was a disaster.” They say simply with an unamused face. Marinette groans again.

“Please don’t remind me. Tikki, spots on! Tikki, Kaalki, unify!” Marinette yells before calling a portal and falling into Paris, the awkward situation pushed to the back of her mind while she pours her focus into her Ladybug duties.

Bruce Wayne was confused. And worried. But mostly confused. Or, the confusion overweighed the worry until he asked about the alarm on the French class’ phones. That’s when the worry began to take center stage. A supervillian? In Paris? For almost two years? Why was the League not informed?

“Um, would you like to watch the battle, Monsieur Wayne?” A blonde boy asks, holding his phone out and rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous fashion. Bruce studies the boy for a moment and recognizes him as the one who hugged Miss Dupain Cheng the day prior. His daughter. Who is currently living in a city with a supervillain and no League intervention. Nodding, Bruce takes the phone and watches the battle, his horror growing. There was one hero, rushing around the scene, one of her pigtails singed and soot covering her face. What the hell kind of villain was this? And why did the hero look so small? Bruce flinches as the hero, Ladybug the comments called her, is thrown against a building roughly. He waits with baited breath until she stands back up, her face set in a grimace before she went on the offense with a vengenace.

“Who is this villain? I’ve never heard of them?” Bruce asks Adrien, not bothering to look away from the fight.

“I don’t know this one’s name, Akumas all have different names and powers.” Adrien replies. Bruce’ gaze snaps up to meet Adrien’s as his blood runs cold. All. As in, multiple.

“How many villains?” He asks, thankful that his newly discovered daughter is currently in Gotham instead of Paris, a sentiment he never expected with the crime rates of his beloved city.

“Oh, there’s only one villain. Hawkmoth. Akumas are just people who’ve had a bad day.” Adrien explains as if it’s a simple concept.

“And what does that mean?” Bruce asks, feeling frustration creep into his neutral posture.

“It means that what you’re seeing right now is a normal citizen who’s being controlled. Hawkmoth…. He has the power to control anyone who shows an extreme negative emotion. Heartbreak, anger, sadness, lonelines, anything negative can be used against you. We, Paris that is, don’t blame those who were akumatized. They can’t even remember what they did when they were under his control. It wouldn’t be fair to hold them accountable.” Adrien explains, and Bruce can’t help the feeling of complete and total helplessness that rushes over him. If he went to Paris, even with the intention of helping the hero in order to protect his daughter, he could become an even bigger obstacle. He could hurt her. He could hurt others.

“Is that why the Justice League isn’t there?” Bruce asks, slightly amused at Adrien’s face rapidly changing from understanding to shocked.

“I-um, probably? If you want more information, miraculousparis.org or the Ladyblog would be your best places for information.” Adrien offers. Bruce nods, mentally making a note to check out those sites later.

“Very well. Thank you. I hope the rest of your trip to Gotham is enjoyable.” Bruce says, careful not to slip into a threatening tone. The boy hadn’t done anything to him, and while he might want to play the protective father, he knew it wasn’t his right. Not yet, anyways. Now he had a supervillain to destroy from behind the scenes.

Opening a portal into her hotel room, Marinette sighs tiredly. The battle had been tiring, especially since she was on her own. Chat Noir had some kind of trip that he couldn’t get out of and had aplogized endlessly for it. She had reassured him that she could do it, but now… she knew she could do it but she really missed her partner. Letting both transformations drop, she sighs, relieved that the odd number of girls in their class allowed her to have her own room. Until a gasp filled her ears. She instantly shifts into a fighting position, shoulders tense as she stares at-

“Adrien?!” She yells in shock and confusion. What was he doing? In her hotel room? Without her? How did he even get a key? How was she supposed to explain this? Well, he did know the basics from his time as Aspik but-

“But you’re Multimouse!” Adrien yells before clapping his hand over his mouth, his cheeks instantly turning red. Marinette’s eyes widen.

“How do you know about that?” She asks, panic rushing through her system.

“Oh my god.” Adrien says, his eyes widening as he glances from Marinette to Tikki and back again. “Oh my god.”

“Please don’t tell anyone! I know you don’t owe me anything, but I just really don’t know if I can handle being the center of attention and then my family would be in danger and I know they wouldn’t approve because it’s dangerous and I-”

“THE TWO GIRLS I HAVE A CRUSH ON ARE THE SAME GIRL?” Adrien says, his eyes wide as he cuts off her rambling.

“I- wait what?” Marinette sputters, completely shocked at this turn of events.

“Well I’ve had a crush on Ladybug for forever and then like a month ago, I was talking to Plagg about how mad it made me that people weren’t listening to you and how hurt you were by the whole high road advice which was, honestly, not my best moment. And somehow, I started ranting about how pretty your eyes are and how kind and amazing you are and so then Plagg told me that that’s a crush, and I thought he was wrong. Until I saw you the next day and realized that he was right but then I felt bad because I felt like I was betraying Ladybug by having a crush on you instead, but Ladybug is you. Which makes sense, now that I think about it and-” Adrien’s cut off by Marinette covering his mouth with her hand, desperate to get him to stop talking.

“Plagg?” She asks, jumping back from him as the Kwami flies out from Adrien’s pocket.

“Good job kid, you broke pigtails.” He says, gesturing at Marinette who suddenly felt like the human version of the windows error screen. Could this trip get any weirder?

On the rating of 10, how do you rate the writing of each legacies characters, why and who deserves better? What aspects should be improved?

I updated some of the opinion for clarity and also added Finch because I forgot her originally

I'll just make a list and go down it and I'm sorry in advance I love responding but I'm horrible at grammar/punctuation and also I might tend to ramble but I'll try to be as concise as possible. It should also be noted anything I state that might possibly relate to ships is a personal opinion and I have nothing against any ships/characters gay or straight/Good or Evil. However would it be said that I definitely mean more towards the gay/Badass with a Golden heart side of shipping with any fandom.

Hope Mikaelson- As of now I would rate her writing at about a 6. And I only say that because as we know a majority of her characters personality slightly has always but this season especially related to her relationship with Landon. And I wish we would see the Badass Tribrid Hope we've been promised since season 1 I mean sure there are no lack of examples of her bravery and martyrdom. But I am tired of her always feeling down on herself and like she's a cosmic mistake when it has literally been proven by Lizzie's wish in season 1 that their life would be infinitely shittier without her. What they can do to improve it is have her focus on friendship and herself instead of trying to always focus on Landon. She deserves more than just to be a boy obsessed character I mean she's the daughter of Klaus F****** Mikaelson for Pete sakes she literally descends from the most powerful supernatural family ever to exist and is rightfully the most powerful being on the f****** planet.

Note: I found Handon's relationship cutesy in season 1 but now not so much especially since they use him dying as a plot line way too often it just doesn't have the same effect that used to***

Josie Saltzman-As of now I would rate her writing at about an 8. I like how her character at least for a while had her own storyline going off the mystic falls High School plotline and how she lived with delena because it was a good call back for us TVD fans but I think it could have definitely lasted longer than a few episodes. We all know it was just used as a lot device to introduce Ethan as a series regular and as an introduction for her to Finch's character. But overall I feel throughout the seasons she has experienced at least some personal growth as exhibited even in 3x15 where she admitted she has to stop saying sorry especially to Lizzie for not always jumping to do what she needs / she wants all the time. Whereas before Android AU version aside because she literally had to do what she was programmed to do. She has an exhibited that she's starting to do what she needs to do for Josie before others most of the time or she's trying to. And as far as her relationship to Finch well I don't see them being endgame I have no problem with them and I do see Finch being one of her major loves of the series that teaches her whatever lesson she needs that leads her to whoever her endgame love is. With her relationships I will always miss Posie and I wish they could get Lulu back at least just for one episode. Also I feel these last two episodes of the girls being a trio they have a really Been serving Hosie with the looks but also I feel like in general Josie and Hope have been really in f****** tune. In conclusion I just don't know because Kaylee's acting skills and just turning general I would rate a billion she could choke me and I would literally thank her.

Lizzie Saltzman-as of now I would rate her at about a 7. I feel as if she has had great personal growth over the series and hell even this season. I also like hell despite everything in her life especially her eternal struggle with her mental illness she is always trying to do better and not just for herself but mainly for others and some people would say that's not good but I like it because it truly shows what she stated in 1x03 during the gargoyle incident that she never wants to be the bad or evil one. She has all this s*** thrown at her being called broken, being seen as the lesser than sister, and not to mention the absentee parents. Yet through all this she manages to only get stronger especially once she builds a genuine friendship with hope. However what I will say is that I don't like the regression of her friendship with Hope in correlation to her progress of especially her mental illness. And what I mean by that is it's almost been shown that once she had even the seeds of a true friendship with Hope that Hope would never give up on her hell not but like even an episode or two into their newly formed friendship in S1 Hope went to Josie when she Lizzie was on the verge of a bad episode and "sweet" Josie was basically like fuck her she needs to fall on her ass for once and Hope ass was appalled y'all she was like Lizzie can't control her brain chemistry and was so defensive/protective it's like once they got over that hurdle that mainly Josie gave them everything clicked into place and they were almost instant bff's. So for them to do so good in season 2 and then it seems like it showed especially in these last several episodes black magic incident to bring Landon back aside that Lizzie's old issues of resentment and jealousy towards hope are starting to come back and I don't like that because the more Lizzie had A Friend in Hope it seems like the better she got at coping and doing better mentally.(sorry if this has been a confusing several sentences). And no by that I do not mean that Lizzie is mental progress has solely relied on Hope but I do think it has helped significantly for her to have a true friend. Also let it be noted now out of every ship though I should Hosie too HIZZIE is my #1 ship on Legacies two phenomenally beautiful woman also the enemies to friends to lovers trope *chef's kiss*which might be plausible as I always wondered what they meant in the Hosie crush confession scene of season 1 when Josie said that she always went after everybody josie liked hinting that Lizzie might be at least bisexual or maybe that was just what Josie perceived at like 12/13 years old. Also on the note of relationships Mizzie was a cute concept at the beginning but I do love the fact that MG is finally finding himself and standing up for himself but he did also do it and I kind of a******-ish way towards Lizzie. And that's all I can say for her. Actually I could probably write a novel on this women and also Hizzie but I won't lol.

Alaric Saltzman- As of now I would give him a rating of like a 4 . In the last several episodes I think he's been trying to make progress at being a better person but that's about all I can say I'm not an anti. But he definitely will not be winning the father of the year award anytime soon and like many people have pointed out he was a great guardian to Elena and Jeremy so he has the potential in parenting he obviously just ain't using it or lost it over the decades. I don't hate him but I do believe they're doing a discredit towards the better man he was in The vampire Diaries especially at the beginning.

Landon Kirby-His writing is like a 3. He is just there to be arm candy for hope. Until the last couple episodes where he became this for once realistic not optimistic hardened badass he literally brought nothing to The season other than someone for Hope to obsess over. And to be someone that they repeatedly kill for shock value even though it literally shocks no one anymore. I don't hate his character but he doesn't tickle My Fancy as much anymore. His character has a lot of potentialy especially if they ever bring back in his Phoenix side and truly explore it beyond his almost endless ability to revive and being a "Bird Boy" lol. I mean truthfully they're doing him a disservice Aria is a phenomenal actor who could take his character places if they just let him be more than a basic ass plot device. Also can we talk about how gorgeous of a man Aria is especially in these last few episodes looking love it and fine as f***.

As it has become apparent to me I ramble too much and I just don't have the capacity as it is now almost 1:00 in the morning my time to do anymore characters in depth so I will be doing a simple excerpt for the rest now that I have done the main 5 people.

Kaleb Hawkins- His writing is a 8. I do like how he's coming to himself over the years and is a a right hand man to Alaric now instead of being just a uncontrollable vampire(the only hate on this part not towards Kaleb but Alaric is that it shows he will virtually mentor/uplift almost any teen that ain't his own daughters). Though in my opinion he always kind of had a point on some things especially about the hypocrisy of Alaric in season 1 especially on the bmood drinking thing. Him and Mg's relationship is awesome I'm glad they made up in the last episode and our brothers again. Also I was rooting for him and Cleo I think they would be a cute little couple. Also I need his backstory immediately especially after saying to Cleo the last time he was vulnerable he died I need to know how he turned.

Milton Greasley(MG)- His writing is a 9 the season. I say that because he is really came into his own and stopped being the punching bag. Though I think the idea or used to think at least that him and Lizzie would be cute together I am proud of him for standing up to Lizzie finally even though I liked him always being there for her I was tired of him being a fallback for her when it didn't work with whoever however I do think he could have went about the rejection a little bit gentler especially with how he knows of Lizzie's emotional problems. And don't even get me started on Alyssa that was just a disaster that should have never even been brought to fruition her cheating with Jed was probably the best thing that could have happened. I liked his little side adventure with Ethan though I do think they could have wrote it a little better I was sad when he had to compel the memories away like they still could have been friends he just couldn't have known about the supernatural stuff also I'm still not convinced Ethan won't become supernatural later in the series if he stays on. And that's all I have to say on that one love my baby.

Jed Tien-His writing I can't really give a writing I don't think it's horrible but I do think overall they could give him a better plot line as a series regular other than just being used for the comical relief eye candy/mentioning how he's the alpha. Though it was funny the whole pool tournament to decide who was alpha will Finch was just exactly that so bad it was laughable. However I do respect the fact that he even admitted to her that he knew she threw the game and that he is a genuine man of his word and has become better over the series from like this dumb jock stereotype to this genuine dude the Alyssa incident aside. He is a cinnamon roll and I will protect him at all cost.

Ethan- Again as he just became a series regular this season and barely showed up in his premiere season. I will not be rating him in any traditional sense. His writing is not totally horrible I liked his adventures with mg they could have been written better and they still could have let him be MG's friend without supernatural knowledge instead of compelling the friendship completely away. And I am still not convinced he will not become supernatural in some way depending on how long he stays in the series truthfully it's actually almost inevitable unless they go the whole route of making him the Matt/Token Human of the show which I really hope they don't I mean he can stay human but don't make him a supernatural hater.

Cleo-her writing is 10. I say that because she has been a phenomenal character and I've never seen the actress before but she is obviously phenomenal as well. I like her whole connection to Malivore and how it's a legitimate one that seems to be interwoven with the story that's already been presented and add something new. I also like how she tried and really wanted to genuinely be friends with all the characters especially hope but at the same time she was also very realistic and new probably and truthfully the only way for Malivore to be defeated was for Hope to Go full Tribrid and she wasn't above actually trying to murder hope to save herself and just get rid of Malivore which I can't blame her.

Malivore-after the end of season 3 / the first couple episodes of season 4 which were supposed to be the original ending to season 3 I better never hear the name again I am so tired of it this should have ended like at least a season ago at this point it's dragging on. This was supposed to be a monster of the week type of series which is okay me personally I have always appreciated having one big bad of the season and then a couple of minor baddies that get their characters arcs and take a few episodes to defeat or something as like a B or C plot. Point being is that this character and plot line has gotten stiff as can be. To be honest I think half of us aren't even here for plot line anymore we just want to see which of our ships get together.

Finch-I am loving her character and I do think she's cute with Josie. Also I stan anyone who is a sarcastic b**** Queen. I think it's nice how her will backstory was different than the traditional one but also I hated how sad it was like she literally didn't even know what she was doing. Though I will say calling Lizzie the "evil" twin that she can fight me because you don't talk about my blonde cinnamon roll like that is based on one impression from something that was only meant and done out of a good place and Lizzie's heart trying to find out her backstory. But other than that I have no real qualms with this character and it is too early to have a real in-depth analysis/opinion of her.

Every The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies Ship Ranked

53. Daroline (Damon Salvatore and Caroline Forbes)

Our first ship is our worst ship because we can't find literally anything nice to say about Daroline. Consent issues, mind-control, and death threats are not exactly the stuff of great romance, and Damon should thank his lucky stars Caroline forgave him for this abominable period when they were together.

52. Calaric (Caroline Forbes and Alaric Saltzman)

Ew. Gross. No. Kill it with fire. We've got no idea what The Vampire Diaries was trying to do with this ship, but we hated every second of it, and we're not ashamed to say it. We don't care that years had passed since Caroline was his student or that there were weirder ages gaps on the show, trying to ship a student-teacher relationship feels wrong no matter which way you slice it.

51. Klenevieve (Klaus Mikaelson and Genevieve)

Klenevieve was a blink and you'll miss it kind of ship on The Originals, but it still technically counts. Ultimately though, Klaus and Genevieve's connection was mostly physical, and there were far too many double-crosses and manipulations on both sides of this relationship to give it much credit.

50. Parkwood (Liv Park and Tyler Lockwood)

Liv and Tyler's love story kind of flew under the radar on The Vampire Diaries, but that's probably just because there were like 18 insane storylines happening at once in Season 6. This ship was actually pretty cute, and the only thing keeping it from a better ranking is the fact that Tyler, you know, killed her with his bare hands to activate his werewolf curse.

49. Malaric (Meredith Fell and Alaric Saltzman)

Talk about ships that flew under the radar. Alaric and Meredith Fell shared a brief tryst in Seasons 3 and 4 of The Vampire Diaries, but this relationship always felt like it was built to move the plot forward instead of the other way around. Kind of too snooze-worthy to deserve a good ranking.

48. Menny (Matt Donovan and Penny Ares)

We're not going to pretend like we cared even a little about Matt and Penny's romance on The Vampire Diaries. However, we're also not going to pretend like the scene where Matt hallucinates her ghost and begs her to take him with her after his car crash was anything other than devastating emotional torture that came out of nowhere and has stayed with us to this day.

47. Jolaric (Jo Parker and Alaric Saltzman)

Jo and Alaric really got the rough end of the stick as far as TVD ships go. They'd only just started to find their groove when Jo found out she was pregnant with twins, forcing them into a shotgun wedding that ended in tragedy. If these two had been given the time to start their family together the way they should have, we have no doubt they could have become one of the show's best duos ever. We'll have to settle for them creating one of the best duos ever -- Josie and Lizzie Saltzman!

46. Rizzie (Rafael Waithe and Lizzie Saltzman)

It's hard not to ship all of the Legacies kids with each other considering the great chemistry that cast has, but Rizzie is one we just never loved. Lizzie seems too intense for Rafael, and Raf doesn't exactly seem like the kind of guy that would give her the level of attention and devotion she requires. This ship was kind of a flop in Sesason 1, and we'd prefer it stay that way.

45. Debekah (Damon Salvatore and Rebekah Mikaelson)

Damon and Rebekah shared one night of tearing ballgowns and tuxes off each other, and then it was never really spoken of again. It's hard to properly rank a ship that basically came down to "that one time we had hate sex," but hookups like this were what The Vampire Diaries was built on.

44. Haylijah (Hayley Marshall and Elijah Mikaelson)

We really wanted to rank Haylijah higher on this list, but all the passion and angst in the world can't distract us from the cold hard truth: Hayley and Elijah had issues. Major issues. Not the least of which being that he killed her in the final season of the show. Whether you consider their love story to be one of the best or worst this shared universe ever created, at least you can comfort yourself with the knowledge that they gave it all they had.

43. Klaurora (Klaus Mikaelson and Aurora de Martel)

For as long as we've known Klaus, he was always teetering on the brink of insanity, which is kind of what we loved most about him. Aurora, on the other hand, has been batshit crazy her whole life and it's so not a good look on her. This weird, obsessive, "let's see who can out-crazy the other" romance was not to our taste at all.

42. KymG (Kym and MG)

We can't claim to be huge fans of the romance between Kim and MG on Legacies, though their names fit together so perfectly for a ship name that we almost demand they be endgame based only on that. Unfortunately, the show never really gave them the screen time they needed to get us invested in their love story before Kym decided she'd had enough superantural shenanigans and left Mystic Falls.

41. Elijah Mikaelson and Antoinette Sienna

On every TV show, there are ships that just make us shrug, and Elijah and Antoniette are definitely one of those. They don't even have a ship name, that's forgettable this tryst was. Even with memory loss, hidden pasts, and romantic pinao duets, this couple was kind of just meh.

40. Sizzie (Sebastian and Lizzie Saltzman)

Sebastian and Lizzie may have had potential, but in the end it turned out to be wasted. Their chemistry was off the charts, but like many teenagers swept up in romance, they never really took the time to connect or learn about each other. Maybe that's why they ended on such a sour note. Still, at least Sebastian went out a hero?

39. Jicki (Jeremy Gilbert and Vicki Donovan)

You know, we were really rooting for Jeremy and Vicki when The Vampire Diaries first started. They had that whole, rebels who are too cool for school, but not too cool for love thing going on. Ultimately though, we don't think Vicki would have ever calmed down enough for Jeremy, who was really only pretending to be a wild child to deal with his parents' deaths. This ship just wasn't to be.

38. Maroline (Matt Donovan and Caroline Forbes)

You know those Season 1 ships that you know are never going to make it, but every time you look back on them they make you nostalgic? That's what Maroline is for us. A cute relationship between two characters we love dearly that just never quite fit perfectly together. That being said, if there had been no vampires or life-or-death scenarios in Mystic Falls, Maroline absolutely would have been endgame material.

37. Stalerie (Stefan Salvatore and Valerie Tulle)

Stefan and Valerie had one of the weirdest love stories we've ever seen, but there was still a small part of us that was rooting for them. In a world not besieged by curses and vampire hunters and prison worlds, these two could have really been something! Sadly, Stefan has like five more appealing ships, which is probably why they never really made it that far.

36. Hafael (Hope Mikaelson and Rafael Waithe)

Legacies made a solid attempt to recreate another brotherly love triangle, but we weren't really feeling it with Rafael, Hope, and Landon. Raf and Hope have a great friendship going, but it's probably best left there considering how much more fans seem to prefer her relationship with Landon.

35. Marcille (Marcel Gerard and Camille O'Connell)

Remember when Marcel and Camille were a thing for a hot minute? Neither do we! Sorry to Marcille fans, but though these two had decent chemistry, they just never got a lot of attention as a couple, and so their love story kind of faded into obscurity.

34. Jasie (Jade and Josie Saltzman)

The Vampire Diaries universe sure does love its enemies to lovers ships, doesn't it? Josie and Jade started off on opposing sides in Kai's prison world, but after Jade turned her humanity back on, things started to change between them. At least the sex dreams they started having about each other did. Jade and Josie might be perfect for one another, seeing as they both understand having a dark side that's hard to deny.

33. Carenzo (Caroline Forbes and Enzo St. John)

While Caroline and Enzo never made it past the friendzone, we wouldn't have hated it if they'd had a thing. There was a lack of "epic love story" vibes between them, and when Enzo was at his worst, Caroline brought out the light-hearted, carefree side of him. Plus, all things considered, he really was her type - morally scrupulous Brit, who would burn the world down for the people he loves -- why does that sound familiar?

32. Mizzie (M.G. and Lizzie Saltzman)

Every day we go back and forth on whether MG and Lizzie are soulmates or whether they're the perfect best friend duo of all time. Could they possibly be both? Sure, Lizzie takes MG for granted sometimes, and MG can be a little thoughtless sometimes, but that doesn't mean these two aren't connected in a deep, meaningful way that most people can only dream of.

31. Noralise (Nora and Mary-Louise)

Though we only got them for one season, Nora and Mary-Louise had us from the moment they said hello. We do love a bad girl, and two bad girls together? We're toast! Our favorite thing about this ship is that while it was clear Nora and Mary-Louise didn't care about much in this world, they cared about each other, and that was more than enough for them.

30. Klayley (Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall)

When The Originals first premiered, we were sure Klaus and Hayley would eventually fall in love and live happily ever after with their precious loophole baby, but ultimately these two just weren't meant to be anything more than one really hot night. That being said, watching them as co-parents just proves that not all ships need to be romantic to work.

29. Rope (Roman Sienna and Hope Mikaelson)

Roman and Hope's sweet, timid flirtation on The Originals was like a breath of fresh air after some of the intense, life-changing, epic love stories we'd been getting for five straight years. Rope -- whoever came up with that ship name was having too much fun that day -- would have ranked higher if the whole relationship wasn't just Roman's ploy to get close to Hope's family.

28. Stebekah (Stefan Salvatore and Rebekah Mikaelson)

The Vampire Diaries had the best flashbacks on TV, hands down, partially because when your characters have lived for centuries, you can really mix things up. One of said mix-ups was the revelation that Stefan and Rebekah had been an item back in the 1920s, and while their romance is probably best left in the age of prohibition, it was always one of our favorites.

27. Hizzie (Hope Mikaelson and Lizzie Saltzman)

Hope and Lizzie would definitely have that whole "enemies to lovers" thing going for them if they ever decided to take the plunge together. The bond we've seen these two develop over the course of Legacies has been so wonderful to watch, and while at the moment we prefer them as badass besties, we wouldn't hate to see them head towards romantic territory someday.

26. Janna (Jeremy Gilbert and Anna Zhu)

When The Vampire Diaries first paired Jeremy and Anna together, we thought our little vampire-loving hearts would give out. They were both so damaged and dark and alone in the world that they somehow fit perfectly together. Not even multiple deaths could keep them apart! Losing this one was hard, but at least ghost Anna came back to hang out occasionally.

25. Datherine (Damon Salvatore and Katherine Pierce)

Call us crazy, but even through all the craziness and manipulation, there seemed to be a spark of something between Damon and Katherine that was just undeniable. Maybe it was the fact that they both put up a dark and diabolical front to mask their real feelings about the way their lives turned out. This wasn't a ship for the ages, but it certainly was a pairing we'll remember forever.

24. Kennett (Kol Mikaelson and Bonnie Bennett)

You know a fandom is strong when it can build a ship of dreams out of like 2 episodes and 10 lines of dialogue, but that's about all Bonnie Bennett and Kol Mikaelson ever shared. And yet somehow, Kennett is always going to feel like the one that got away in terms of ships that totally should've happened but never did.

23. Klamille (Klaus Mikaelson and Camille O'Connell)

Despite their messy ending, Klaus and Camille's relationship showed us sides of each character that we otherwise would never have seen. Though it was missing some of the passion usually found in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals ships, it was still absolutely heartbreaking to watch Klaus lose a woman who meant so much to him when Cami died.

22. Jandon (Josie Saltzman and Landon Kirby)

This short-lived romance between Josie and Landon may not have been super popular with fans, but it was perfectly in character for both these self-sacrificing loners to find their way to one another. It may not have been a romance for the ages, but it was an age-appropriate and utterly endearing one, and that's good enough for us!

21. Kolvina (Kol Mikaelson and Davina Claire)

As one of the few ships that managed to make it out of The Originals series finale alive, we have to give Kol and Davina props. Their love story survived multiple deaths, body-swaps, and that pesky problem of Kol accidentally murdering Davina that one time. We want nothing more than peace and happiness for eternity for these two crazy kids.

20. Jalaric (Jenna Sommers and Alaric Saltzman)

While some believe Alaric's love life is cursed, those of us who watched the early years of The Vampire Diaries know better. Alaric will simply never find someone as perfect for him as Jenna Sommers, which means he's destined to fall in and out of subpar ships forever. Poor guy, it's rough when your soulmate dies so early on in the first of three sequential shows.

19. Klefan (Klaus Mikaelson and Stefan Salvatore)

This one's another ship was never technically canon, but as far as we're concerned that was a GRAVE mistake. Klaus and Stefan had chemistry coming out of their ears, and you're seriously trying to tell us that nothing happened between these two during their days of debauchery in the 1920s? Yeah right, you're not fooling us!

18. Jayley (Jackson Kenner and Hayley Marshall)

Jackson and Hayley may not have had the passion and the fire that some of the best TVD ships boasted, but they had something that very few other pairings had: A rock-solid friendship built on trust and understanding that grew organically into true love. Considering how crazy their world was, they both needed a relationship like this to keep them sane, which is maybe why we ended up loving it so much?

17. Kalijah (Katherine Pierce and Elijah Mikaelson)

Katherine and Elijah only shared maybe a handful of scenes together over the entire course of The Vampire Diaries, but they're somehow one of three ships we would have watched an entire spin-off about. Their love stood the test of time and somehow overcame hybrid-sized grudges, and that's about as romantic as it gets.

16. Rebel (Rebekah Mikaelson and Marcel Gerard)

Though we love Marcel and Rebekah (especially when we think about the day they both take the cure and grow old together), this couple had one major problem... One of them wasn't on the show all that often, which meant their romance faded to the background every time Rebekah left town -- which was a lot. We'll put this in the category of ships that were done dirty by logistical, behind-the-scenes stuff.

15. Bamon (Bonnie Bennett and Damon Salvatore)

The Bamon saga was one of the most topsy-turvey things to follow on The Vampire Diaries, but we loved every minute of it. From shipping them a little bit in Season 1 to hating everything about it in Season 3, to watching them grow into best buds in Season 6, Bonnie and Damon went on a journey unparalleled by any other ship in the TVDu. Do we kind of wish they'd given romance a try? Sure. Are we going to let that invalidate how awesome their story was? No way.

14. Gialijah (Gia and Elijah Mikaelson

We're probably going to get some hate for this, but if we had to pick between all of Elijah's ships, Gialijah would probably win out. Sure, they weren't star-crossed lovers or centuries-old flames, but if you're looking for a healthy dynamic (of which Elijah was sorely lacking) with great chemistry and some awesome scenes, Gialijah is the ship for you.

13. Handon (Hope Mikaelson and Landon Kirby)

Hope and Landon are kind of the Stelena of Legacies. Not a pairing that we think will be endgame (no matter how heartbroken that will leave us), but integral to the DNA of the series nonetheless. We're content to enjoy this sweet couple strive for their happy ending, and we'll even root for them most of the time as they grow up together and figure out this crazy supernatural world.

12. Jaiden (Josh Rosza and Aiden)

Oh, Josh and Aiden... the ship that was too pure for this world. Literally. Though both these characters bit the dust before all was said and done on The Originals, their love story was super sweet, and, hey, at least we got to see them reunite in the afterlife!

11. Beremy (Bonnie and Jeremy)

If any of you ever had a crush on your older brother or sister's friends, you'll understand our undying love for Beremy. There was something so cathartic about watching Bonnie realize that Jeremy had grown up to be a sweet, sexy, utterly dateable guy instead of Elena's annoying little brother. Even though the didn't end up together, they deserve a high ranking in this list of epic ships.

10. Posie (Penelope Park and Josie Saltzman)

Considering how few episodes of Legacies Penelope was in before she bounced, it's remarkable that so many people fell so deep in love with the Posie ship. We guess there's just something intoxicating about a bad girl who will do bad things for the girl she loves. If you come for Josie, Penelope will come for you!

9. Steferine (Stefan Salvatore and Katherine Pierce)

Is it weird that we always kind of thought Stefan and Katherine would end up together when all was said and done? Don't get us wrong, that relationship was toxic at best, but when they were on screen together, you just couldn't pull your eyes away from them. It was like watching a really sexy, complicated train wreck in action.

8. Forwood (Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood)

Considering how often Caroline and Tyler were separated (by distance, evil hybrids, or opposing loyalties), it's pretty impressive that they were still one of the most memorable ships from The Vampire Diaries. It some mixed the sweetness of Maroline with the passion of Klaroline, creating a happy middle ground for fans to enjoy.

7. Freelin (Freya Mikaelson and Keelin Malraux)

Did we really understand the term OTP before Freelin existed? We doubt it. Freya and Keelin had their ups and downs on The Originals, to be sure, but through it all, there was never a doubt in our minds that these two strong, smart, sexy women were absolutely made for one another. Knowing they're living out their happily ever after in New Orleans with a cute little baby named Nik is the only thing that gets us through the day sometimes.

6. Steroline (Stefan Salvatore and Caroline Forbes)

Considering how many ships exist in this universe, it's shocking that Steroline is one of only a handful to make it down the aisle. Poor Stefan seemed doomed to be forever locked in a love triangle with his brother until Caroline Forbes entered his life. Not only did he no longer have to deal with love triangle BS, he got to marry his best friend, who he knew would support him through thick and thin. If only it hadn't taken them so long to figure out how awesome they could be together.

5. Benzo (Bonnie Bennett and Enzo St. John)

Sometimes it's hard to ship characters that are thrown together at the end of a series as opposed to the beginning, but that was not the case with Bonnie and Enzo. One minute they were two characters who'd never really interacted much, and the next they were epic loves who built a strong relationship built on trust, compassion, and a lot of laughter. Honestly, they fit so well together even we were surprised by it!

4. Stelena (Stefan Salvatore and Elena Gilbert)

Of all the ships to ever grace our screens over the years, there was something truly special about Stefan and Elena. Maybe it's because we associate their love story with some of the best years The Vampire Diaries ever had, or maybe their connection really was just too epic for words. Whatever the case, Stelena was one for the history books, and we dare you to say different.

3. Hosie (Hope Mikaelson and Josie Saltman)

It might seem weird to put a ship that's not, technically speaking, canon (yet!) so high on our list, but we absolutely won't apologize for it. Putting aside the obvious fact that these girls are definitely, majorly, into each other, Hope and Josie have proven over and over again that they not only understand each other on a deep, intimate level, they also care enough about one another to go to the ends of the earth to keep each other safe and happy. That kind of devotion when paired with a healthy, supportive dynamic is a killer combination.

2. Klaroline (Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes)

Klaus and Caroline never really got the timing right, but maybe that's what makes this ship one of the best in the history of The Vampire Diaries universe. They were enemies, they were lovers, and they were kind of even friends for a minute there, and the fact that they never really got a chance to be together only makes this ship more EPIC. Plus, it's kind of impossible not to swoon when a guy declares he'll be your last love.

1. Delena (Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert)

Was there ever any doubt that this list would end here? Whether you loved Delena or not, there's no denying this couple was iconic, and a large part of The Vampire Diaries' success was built on their love story. Sure, we would have preferred for them to not have different versions of the same fight for four seasons in a row, but that doesn't mean we don't still get major chills whenever we rewatch their first kiss or their series finale happily ever after.

Hey sorry to jump off your ask about Brett and the whole thing about relationships. If you look at the context of the interview he starts it talkikg about Landons family. So I think a lot of the relationship stuff is probably going to be about family(like maybe between Landon and Clarke/ Clarke and Malivore or the Saltzmans maybe). But even not there's always the friendship type of relationships etc. And even if it is about the romantic ones they spent last season building up Finch and Josie so I can see them doing more with that. There might be a love triangle between Lizzie/MG/Ethan. I know a lot people feel like Mizzie has been building up(idk if that's true or not don't really pay attention to that couple). But if it does have something to do with Handon I doubt it'll be in a bad way(but I'm not gonna lie I do worry that they might put them through even more just for the drama of it all). I think it'll be more of their relationship changing for the better. Like them working together and maybe helping each other even more to get through stuff etc. But I doubt the writers(or Brett) would just throw away 3 seasons of delvepment on Handons part it would make no sense. Especially since they made it point to show how much they love each other(I mean all of s3 was pretty about Hopes love for Landon) and how strong that love is. And even made it point to show how connected to each other they are. In s2 Landon was killing himself just to get glimpses Hope bc he just felt that the most important part of his life was missing. And in s3 they even made it a point to show that Hope just knew that Landon was dead(once again showing how connected they are) and so on. I know all of that wasn't for nothing or only for them to end Handon in s4. It wouldn't make sense and would just be terrible writing in my opinion. So I think s4 will be good for Handon, well as good as it can be since it's a show set in the TVDU. And I'm not worried about them(lol okay I'm like 2% worried but that's only bc they seem to love putting Handon through everything under the sun).

Yeah, I agree, he brought it up when talking about Seylah and Clarke so I’m really hoping what he said will apply more to family relationships or friendships, like you said. It’s just when he said relationships they’ve been building for “years,” it made me a slightly worried since Handon is the main one they’ve been building for years. So I wasn’t thinking of more recent relationships like Josie and Finch, or Ethan and Lizzie, though I do think it could have to do with Mizzie since that’s gone on for years. I also don’t feel like they’ve done a whole lot to build a relationship between Landon and Clarke, or even Clarke and Malivore, especially not for years. But maybe Brett feels like they have and that’s what he was referring to, idk haha. I’m just very curious to find out what relationships it could apply to, but I hope you’re right. And I also hope if it has to do with Handon that it won’t be anything bad. There’s just no reason for that to happen. But yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do put them through more, so I’m worried about that as well. And true, it would make perfect sense for things to change for them for the better, and them becoming even stronger together. Like them helping each other like you said, especially after all they’ve been through. Or if they do fully become a tribrid and a phoenix, that would be huge for both of them as well, and they’d have to help each other through that. And I totally agree it would make no sense for them to throw away all they’ve developed with Handon, so I doubt they will as well. I just... I’m also a Stelena fan so I think after what they did to them after 3 seasons of development made me have trust issues when it comes to the writers haha. Not that I think that’s gonna happen with Handon, I don’t. It’s completely different and I can’t imagine they’d ever do anything like that with them. But I’m still never sure about the writers because you never know what they might do or if they’re gonna screw things up somehow, so I still hope they don’t do anything else to mess with Handon at all. And exactly, most of season 3 was about their love and how much Hope loves Landon and how she’ll always fight for him. And so true, they’re very much connected as well in so many ways, as we’ve seen throughout the seasons. When it comes to them as characters and their love for each other and all that’s been established, I have absolutely no doubts about their relationship. It’s the writers I’m worried about, because I’ve seen how badly they can destroy their own writing and write characters ooc. So that’s where my worries come from, but I still have a lot of hope they won’t do that with Handon. Because I think they’ve done a pretty good job staying true to their characters and their love for each other, so I hope it stays that way. For them to do anything else would definitely be horrible writing and would be the biggest mistake. So I hope season 4 is good for Handon too. And ikr, they love putting Handon through pain, so I’m not looking forward to that possibly happening again because I think there’s a good chance it could, at least to some extent, and that Handon still won’t have any peace. But maybe the writers will surprise us and will finally let them have some happiness!

Legacies Opinions 3x09: Who Knew Mogwai Came in Esther Shades?

Hello, my lovely readers!

So I forgot to write this piece. Hopefully it will come out okay...

Spoilers ahead!

Who likes Gremlins? Me! If you don't know; you have got to see the movie: Gremlins! And, no, there will be no cute, little bubble gum-colored creature. And it definitely does not curse people!

So who wants to discuss the friend-ships in the last epi? Let's go!

Ethan and MG:

Am I silly, or is this the friendship that no one saw coming, but really needed. MG is just such a sweet character and it is great to see him getting to bond with someone whose kind of mellow, compared to oh, say Lizzie. Don't get me wrong. I love Mizzie, but MG getting to share his secret powers with a human, who is just fan-boying over, is just cool. And MG saving Ethan from certain death was epic!

Ethan and Jo:

They seem to be settling happily into a friendship pattern. I wonder what will change their dynamic, because happy just isn't typical of this series of shows.

Hizzie:

Speaking of unhappiness. Hizzie were still on the rocks, after the events of the last epi. And the little gremlin did not help matters, convincing the two they were talking smack, and literally smacking Lizzie into the pool. However, my fav female friendship rebounded; thanks to Landon reminding Hope she needs other people, too. This led to an invite for Lizzie to join a Handon Gremlins watch party. So sad we did not get that scene!

Kaleb and Lizzie:

With MG at the human school, with Jo, Lizzie and Kaleb had each other to lean on. They're just so sassy together. Kind of love it. We need more Lizzeb or Kazzie? scenes.

Couples:

Handon:

The only thing that gives me worries is that maybe Landon might not be the Landon we expect. Did he remind anyone else of the version of Land, who was split in two, in season two; so Jo could find out what he really wanted? Sorry if that's not very well-stated.

Cleleb:

Finally! It looks like Kaleb might have a girlfriend! It took most of the epi., but Cleo fell for Kaleb's charms. Now, if we could just find out why the Gremlin tried to take her to Malivore...

Personally, I enjoyed the epi. It felt like Legacies was doing what it does best: Finding lightness, and humor, in a whole lot of scary events. However, I think things could get dark, soon.

Oh, and we got appearances by Elena Gilbert's house, Damon Salvatore's car, Dorian, Albert Einstein, and Ryan Clarke! Does anyone suspect Ryan might be coming back?

Kingdom High Chapter 12

Warnings: same as the other chapter

Rating: SFW

In the woods, Cerise and Carmine were racing each other competitively. Cerise beat him and they soon came to a halt in a small forest clearing.

“Sorry, Carmine. I'd love to race again, but I gotta get back to school,” Cerise said. Carmine licked Cerise's face, exposing her half-wolf ears.

“My ears! Go find our pack,” Cerise said. With a whimper and nod, Carmine headed off. Cerise took a deep breath and ran into the shadows elsewhere. In the trees above, Kitty was watching Cerise. Cerise ran out of the forest near the school. Kitty confronted her while with her pet caterpillar, Carrolloo.

“You beat that wolf in a race!” Kitty said. Cerise gasped in surprise.

“How do you do it? I'm all ears...” Kitty said.

“Kitty, you can't tell anyone about that,” Cerise said. Kitty giggled and disappeared. Cerise sighed. Raven and Mizuki walked up to Cerise.

“Cerise...” Raven said. Cerise growled as her eyes turned yellow. Raven and Mizuki gasped. Cerise’s eyes turned back to normal when she saw that it was them.

“Raven? Mizuki? Let me guess...” Cerise said.

“Y-yeah. Wanna talk about it?” Mizuki said as she put a hand on Cerise’s shoulder.

“I just... I guess it would be a relief to finally tell someone,” Cerise said. She opened up a leaf shaped locket which showed her and her family.

“My family is... hiding a secret,” she said.

“Your mom, Red Riding Hood, married the Big Bad Wolf? Don't worry, I won't say a word,” Raven said.

“Me too,” Mizuki said.

“It's not you I'm worried about...” Cerise said. She gazed up at the Cheshire symbol atop of the tree Kitty was on.

~Le Time Skip~

“We're running laps today, which you'll find very important, when some crazy old bakers try to eat you,” Coach Gingerbread said. His eyes darted around.

“Okay! Now, ready, set—” He blew the whistle and the students ran off. Kitty suddenly appeared.

“Kitty!” Mizuki said. Kitty winked to Carrolloo who opened a large carriage carrying a stag. Cerise's wolf form got triggered and she ran at a high speed. She started growling and running faster than her normal speed.

“Oh no,” Raven said. Everyone gasped in surprise that Cerise was running faster than all the other people on the track. The stag jumped back in the carriage and Cerise stopped dead.

“So, Cerise!” Kitty said. Cerise tugged her hood down nervously.

“Anything you want to... um... tell us?” Kitty asked.

“I can't believe the speed spell I cast on your sneakers actually worked!” Raven said.

“What?” Kitty asked.

“She’ll show you,” Mizuki smirked. Raven casted a spell on Kitty's shoes. She started to run uncontrollably.

“No! Hey! Oh! Ah! Ah!” Kitty whimpered.

“Raven, Mizuki, thanks,” Cerise said.

“Reow!” Kitty said.

“Don't worry Kitty, it'll wear off!” Raven said. She then turned to Mizuki and Cerise.

“Eventually,” she said. The three of them giggled and watched Kitty run around.

Mizuki looked at the calendar and saw that there was going to be a full moon tonight. She gasped and ran over to her dads. Thankfully, Axel was already prepared.

“Don’t worry, kiddo. Dad’s gonna be okay. He’ll be staying in the dungeon till the moon passes,” he said (yes, i’m going with the headcanon that saïx turns feral during a full moon.)

“A-are you sure? Do you remember what happened last time?” Mizuki asked.

“Relax, Mizzi. Dad’s got it all under control. Right daddy?” Kaji said.

“Yep! But that does put a complication onto the plan that we’re making to help save the worlds,” Axel said.

“Yeah. But I know that you can do it. You just have to believe in yourself!” Kaji said.

“Mhm! You know what they say: May your heart be your guiding key.” Mizuki said. Axel chuckled and ruffled their hair.

“Go finish your homework. After that, you can say good night to your dad,” he said. The girls nodded and went to go do their homework. Meanwhile, Axel went down to the dungeon to check on his husband.

“Hey, how’re you holding up?” he asked.

“I’m fine. Despite the fact that it feels stuffier than last time,” Saïx said. Axel smiled and held Saïx’s hand.

“You okay?” Saïx asked.

“Yeah. Just hate that we have to lock you up in here every month,” Axel said.

“I know. But it’s for your safety and the other’s safety.”

“Yeah. Try not to break out of here this time.”

“I can’t make any promises.” The two of them giggled and heard Kaji and Mizuki come in.

“Hey girls. Finish your homework?” Axel said.

“Yeah,” Kaji said.

“Good.” Mizuki smiled and looked at Saïx.

“I’ll be fine, Mizuki,” he said.

“I know. I’m just gonna miss you,” she said.

“I’ll be out of here soon. You girls should head to bed. I’ll be back before you know it.” The girls nodded and said good night. They climbed into bed and soon fell asleep.

~Another Time Skip~

Mizuki woke up in the middle of the night, hearing something crash downstairs. She walked over to Kaji’s bed and woke her up.

“Huh? Mizzi? What are you doing?” Kaji grumbled.

“Did you hear that?” Mizuki asked. Kaji listened and heard the crashing along with a low growl.

“You don’t think...?” she asked.

“I think so...” Mizuki said. The two girls got up and went to go check on what was happening downstairs. There, they saw Saïx tearing up objects as if he was searching for something.

“We need to warn dad,” Kaji whispered. Saïx heard her and started walking towards the girls without them knowing. The girls heard a loud growl and saw that it was him. The girls screamed and ran away. Saïx followed them till they reached Axel’s room. They banged on the door, begging Axel to open the door.

“Dad, open up please!” Kaji said.

“He’s gonna get us!” Mizuki said. Axel opened the door and saw Saïx coming after them.

“Get behind me girls,” he said. The girls got behind Axel and he summoned his chakrams.

“Isa! Calm down!” he said. Saïx didn’t listen. Instead he launched himself at the three of them and the girls screamed. They didn’t feel an attack, instead they felt Saïx hugging them.

“Huh?” Axel asked. The girls saw that Saïx was starting to become his original self. He soon calmed down and he looked at the girls.

“You okay?” he asked.

“You scared the daylights out of us!” Kaji said.

“Sorry, I guess my feral side wanted to protect you from something.”

“It’s fine. I think. Just don’t scare us like that again!” Mizuki said.

“I won’t. Now, you two go back to bed.” The girls got up and headed back to their rooms. Meanwhile, Axel and Saïx laid in bed.

“Well, at least we figured out how to stop it,” Axel said.

“Shut up and go to sleep,” Saïx said.

“And he’s back again. Love you.”

“Love you too.” As they were sleeping, a crow watched from the distance. He cawed as he flew away. He landed on the Evil Queen’s shoulder and she was able to understand what he witnessed.

“Perfect. Now, we’ll just let the magic happen,” she said. She walked over to her cauldron and performed a spell that will change the worlds forever.

Taking Chances Chapter Eight: Family Dinner (Pranks/Dad Jokes)

Bruce Wayne was not an emotional man. In fact, his emotional capability had once been compared to that of a teaspoon. He had emotions, obviously, but he didn’t express them. Or rather, he wasn’t sure how to express them. But staring down at the photo album in front of him, it was almost painful having no way to express his emotions. It was the most thoughtful gift he had ever received, and it was one that he would treasure forever. He didn’t have baby pictures of his other children. Dick’s were lost at some point while he was still with Haley’s Circus. Jason’s were lost when he had to live on the street. Tim...well, there were a few pictures of Tim. But they were all highly staged school pictures. And those didn’t start until kindergarten. And Damian….Talia wasn’t ever the type to be sentimental. Which meant there were no baby pictures of him either. But Marinette...her entire life had been catalogued. From sonograms, to her first Christmas and the first competition she won. Everything was laid out in order. Bruce turns back to the start of the book, prepared to close it, when an envelope catches his eye. He wasn’t focused on it when he first opened the book. He glances at Marinette and quirks an eyebrow. She frowns.

“Oh, that. Um, it’s the letter that Bridgette wrote to you. I haven’t actually read it, Maman said she hasn’t either. Your name was on the front and apparently she felt awkward opening a letter not addressed to her even with the situation and-” She stops talking, taking a deep breath before smiling. “Sorry. But, you can read it, if you want. I thought you might want to have it.”

“Thank you, Marinette.” He says, smiling slightly. He tries not to laugh when her face lights up seeing him smile. Note, try and show emotions more around Marinette, he thinks. Sitting back on his chair, he opens the envelope and stares down at the letter he should’ve received fourteen years ago.

Marinette lets out a sigh of relief as Mr. Wayne sits to read the letter. Tugging Adrien over to her brothers and plopping down on the loveseat, she smiles.

“So Marinette, I noticed the last time you were here you had a sketchbook. Do you draw a lot?” Dick asks, eyeing the lack of space between her and Adrien. Marinette resists the urge to glare at her brother. Was he seriously plotting some way to get her and Adrien away from each other right now? After Mr. Wayne had invited him? Seriously?

“Well, kinda.” She answers, pulling out her mini sketchbook from her purse. “I actually design clothes. So I draw, but it’s mostly clothes. Sometimes I’ll sketch architecture or flowers or something for inspiration but..” She trails off, tentatively passing her sketchbook to Dick. She watches, bouncing her leg as the awkward silence stretches on while Dick looks at the sketchbook with Tim and Jason glancing over his shoulders. And Cass standing behind the couch was also looking at the sketches. Trying not to feel awkward the longer the silence stretches, Marinette jumps as Tim starts choking on his coffee. He jumps towards her and she yelps, leaping off the loveseat and to the side in order to avoid him.

“What the hell Replacement?” Jason huffs. Tim ignores him, staring at her with wide eyes.

“Holy shit, it’s you.” He says.

“Language, Master Tim. Dinner is ready.” Alfred says, popping out of nowhere.

“What do you mean it’s me?” Marinette asks, taking her sketchbook back and stuffing it back into her purse.

“You’re MDC!” Tim practically yells, waving his (not empty) coffee cup around, barely missing dumping it on her head.

“Um, yes?” She says, confused at his level of excitement.

“How are you not freaking out about this?” Tim asks, turning to Dick and Jason who were trying to get him to follow them to the dining room. Key word being trying.

“Am I supposed to?” Dick asks, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“Richard Grayson! As a fellow Jagged Stone fan you cannot tell me that you don’t recognize the name of his personal designer!” Tim yells. Dick’s eyes widen in realization, turning to Marinette with a shocked smile.

“Wait, that’s you? Marinette, that’s amazing! I knew your sketches were good, but wow. That’s just- wow!” Dick says, his entire face filled with pride. Marinette laughs awkwardly, her face heating up with all the attention. It was….a lot. But also nice.

“Yeah. I mean, I haven’t done an entire tour wardrobe yet, but I’m proud of the pieces that I have done.” She says.

“Terribly sorry, but it might be nice if we moved our conversations to the dining room.” Alfred says, a twinge of amusement clear on his face. Marinette glances over at Mr. Wayne who was still frozen, clutching the letter from her birth mother. She looks at Alfred and raises an eyebrow. He simply shakes his head and motions for her to go on. Sighing, she nods and follows her brothers (and Adrien, who was suddenly in an intense conversation with Tim about Jagged Stone) to the dining room. As they walk into the dining room, Marinette darts around Dick to snag the seat on the other side of Adrien. Tim sitting on one side of Adrien was fine. Adrien stuck between Tim and Dick? Not fine. She gives Dick a look, and he just smiles innocently before walking around and taking the seat across from Adrien. Should’ve seen that one coming. Once everyone is seated (besides Mr. Wayne, who had sent Alfred back in and instructed everyone to start without him) the conversations taper off, leaving the dining room in an awkward silence.

“Marinette, I have a very serious question for you.” Dick says, his smile telling her that the chances of it actually being a ‘very serious’ question are slim to none.

“Okay, sure.”

“Where do fruits go on vacation?” He asks, a wide grin stretching across his face. “Pear-is!” Marinette just blinks at him. That was almost as bad as-

“Oh my god! That was amazing!” Adrien cheers, laughing so hard he has to set his fork down. Oh god. There’s two of them.

“Really?” Dick asks, his face bright. Oh dear god please no.

“Oh yeah. That joke was pun-derful.” Adrien replies with a snort. Please god. Make it stop.

“I’m glad you think so. Everyone else seems a bit pun-sive.” Dick replies. That’s it. She’d willingly give Hawkmoth her Miraculous if it meant she could leave this dinner and the awful jokes happening. She’d even listen to her Papa’s jokes for an entire hour. As long as she could leave this cursed dinner. The sudden blaring from both her phone and Adrien’s makes her jump, and her eyes widen. Okay, no. She didn’t say the thing about the Miraculous out loud, so she doesn’t actually have to give it up, right? No, it’s fine. Taking it back won’t lead to anything crazy, right?

“Uh, I’m gonna run to the bathroom.” Marinette says, jumping up, frowning at Adrien as he jumps up with her.

“Me too!” He says. Marinette frowns. Way to make it obvious, Kitty.

“I’m fine, I can go to the bathroom by myself.” She insists, rushing off to the bathroom before Adrien can argue. She’d figure something out.

Dick raises an eyebrow at Adrien’s shocked face.

“Did you need to go to the bathroom? We have more than one bathroom.” He says, worried that maybe the kid’s shocked face wasn’t because of Marinette’s hasty departure and instead because he really needed the bathroom.

“Oh. Um. No, I’m fine. Apparently.” He mutters the last word, dropping down into his seat and staring at his plate. Dick could see the boy’s hands twitching towards his phone like he wanted to check it, but was afraid of being rude. He was about to tell him that it was okay to check his phone when a blue circle of light appeared over the table. An arm covered in red spandex with black spots sticks out of the light (portal) and grabs Adrien by the front of his shirt. Before anyone can stop the arm, Adrien is through the portal. Gone. Well shit.

“Where are Adrien and Marinette?” Bruce asks, walking into the room and frowning at the empty chairs. Well shit!

It was supposed to be a fun day at the amusement park. Rides, haunted mazes, and not much else to spend a free October day (and night), but what's life without a bit of drama.

"Togetic!" An all too familiar voice called out to her. She turned and saw Wally.

"What's up Pikachu!” She smiled at him as he came up.

"Protect me please?!" he brought out the puppy eyes.

"From?"

"My team."

"They're here?"

"Yes, now hide me please." She rolled her eyes at his antics.

"Fine but I will not get involved, when your cover is in-evidently blown."

"I owe you one."

"Mazes then..."

"Food?!"

"Do you, ever think with your head not just your stomach.

"Come on Togetic."

"Sure Pikachu." They walked off and got in line for one of the many horror mazes that were set up around the park.

After three mazes they decided to do some rides while figuring out what to eat. Once they had their food they sat down, but seeing as the question has been nagging her, she had to ask.

"Why are you hiding from your team?"

"I may have... um..." He quickly turned a shade of red that rivaled his uncle's suit.

"So, it's either Ditto, Kirlia, or Chikorita." She noticed he seemed to go even redder. "Chikorita." She repeated. "Oh my gosh you're crushing on Chikorita!" She squealed.

"She's a spitfire." he sighed dreamily.

"Hm..." she thought as she finished her burger and was drinking her milkshake.

"Whatcha thinking."

"If she's a spitfire she can't be Chikorita."

"What do you have in mind..."

"Quilava."

"Keeping in Gen 3 starters," He mused.

"Yup. And she's got to be quick to deal with you so."

"That sounds like her."

"Okay now that that's settled, we still have more mazes."

"You’re not scared yet. You did run out of one already."

"I wasn't the one who barreled an actor over and tore out of the maze." She slurped her milkshake as she walked away.

"I did not!" He yelled at her back as he jogged towards her.

"Wally there you are!" A voice called out.

"Please," he turned to her and tried to beg but she retaliated with her doe eyes as she continued to drink her milkshake waiting for this show to start.

"We've been looking everywhere for you." The same girl started to talk.

By now the entirety of Wally's team was around them. The youngest, who looked closest to her age, stood next to her, on her right while the oldest of them stood to her left. The others seemed to surround Wally, so she pulled out her phone discreetly and started to record. Riolu, as she recognized after a moment, seemed to question her, so she put her index finger to her lips so he would stay quiet. Not long after did Wally finally notice his two missing teammates.

"Nettie, how could you? You were supposed to protect me."

"Can you?" she held her milkshake to Riolu and started typing. "I said I would help you avoid them, but I wouldn't get involved when you got caught." she finished the message attached the videos and sent it.

"What was that?" he glared at her, as she took back her cup and thanked RioIu.

"Oh nothing."

"How could you?!" He cried, now holding her phone.

She shrugged, walked over, and plucked her phone from his hands. "You guys can keep standing around but I'm going to go hit up some more mazes." she started to walk away.

"I'm sticking with you because I need to see that." Riolu caught up to her. "Robin." He stuck out his hand.

"Marinette," she shook his hand. "You are coming West?"

"Of course, you hit it off with Rob." He grumbled catching up to them, the rest trailing behind.

From there introductions were made and they were able to finish the mazes. Sure, she made one or two jabs at Wally, but it was his fault. If he kept insisting that she liked Robin well if she slipped in that he liked Artemis, then it was his fault.

It wasn't until they were getting ready to leave that her phone rang. Unfortunately, Robin, Artemis, and Zatanna were watching get another 'Wally's Hilarious Action Take' when the call came in. They all froze and looked between her and the phone before handing it over. (A picture of her and Hal after training on Oa, you couldn’t see their suits, but you could see green lanterns flying in the background).

"Hey Dad." she answered.

'Blue do you know anything about something called Miraculous?'

"Magical artifacts that are bound to these mini gods." Now if she didn't have their attention she did now. There was also no doubt that M'gann was broadcasting her dad's responses telepathically.

'Wait these are real?'

"Ya, the lanterns are actually an extension of these jewels."

'How can you just say it like it's nothing?'

"Because it's common knowledge." A sharp pain erupted in her head and voices chattered. "Hey!" she growled, clutching her head, towards M'gann.

'What's wrong?'

"Someone tripped me," she answered. "Can we continue this conversation at home? It's getting crowded."

'Sure. See you soon, Bluebell.'

"See you Papa."

"Mari are you okay?" Wally broke her glare.

"She tried to force herself in my mind." she stated in a hushed tone.

"It doesn't hurt..." Conner started to defend M'gann.

"Not to those who allow it or are untrained." She continued. "Telepathy is not a one-party consent. A person can resist or block telepaths if they are trained or have a natural defense. But if the telepath pushes and tries to force into a protected mind it is painful, a constant barrage."

"I'm sorry. I didn't know." M'gann apologized.

"Not many humans can resist telepaths its fine." Before they could process what, she said her phone rang again.

'Change of plans your meeting the team.'

"Um... Kind of late for that."

'What do you mean by that?' She started a video call.

"Say hi?"

"You know I'm not even going to ask. Get to these coordinates." He ended the call.

"Something’s up." Wally was oddly serious.

"You don't say." She led the group to a clearing not far from the park.

So today I’ve done a generic three card spread asking the universe what it’s message for us in this new week is. As we can see we have every suit save for swords, which speaks to me of a week full of preparation, where there will be less action and rushing into things.

In other words its the time where you gotta grind in an RPG to level up. That time you think passing slowly and with a lack of excitement is just as important for you as the times where big events take place in. This is something I’ve discerned from the spread by noting that they are all minor arcana and as such take more importance in your day to day life.

10 of Wands (Reversed):

Starting to let things fall out of hands, not keeping track of all the roots you’ve placed. Clutching to the last straws. You’re starting to overstretch yourself amongst your responsibilities and it would be a good practice to assess all the things you’ve committed yourself to seeing to the end.

Important to be honest with self and those around you. If your intuition is telling you someone’s not to be trusted it may be good to engage with caution and to potentially assess the situation. That said stress can be a big component and its not wise to rush into being confrontational, and it is possible to be honest without confronting people. Most of all, everyone of you reading this should remember that you are important and require protecting at times otherwise if you don’t take care of yourself how can you ever hope to help the people you care for.

4 of Cups (upright): There are opportunities being missed as you remain preoccupied by the the things you don’t yet have which can cause you to overlook the things you already have. Don’t miss the chance to reach out and tale life by the grip, live in the moment instead of lamenting over what you don’t have and appreciate the present. Remember to properly assess all your options and recognise the advantages you may already have, if one path doesn’t feel plausible then know that you have the freedom and smart thinking to find other ways. It’s also good to keep in mind that to worry too much about things that aren’t set in stone can be be a fruitless and waste of your energy.

All in all, remain positive and be careful what you wish for, the grass is always greener and life has a funny knack of giving exactly what you wish for with a fun twist.

6 of pentacles (upright): This is a good week for you! Either financially or in some earthly way (in more materialistic things, such as money, objects, stability and things that generally more tangible than things of spiritual sense). There is an element of generosity and charitableness that is tied in with this card, speaking of equality tones, and the cycle of life where just as negative events can be often, but are very much temporary. Remember that pride comes before fall, and that it isn’t bad to accept help. Likewise in that it doesn’t take a lot to lend even a listening ear to those that you meet who might need it because sometimes you’ll have a lil’ nugget of wisdom that someone really needs to hear!

Basically good tidings all around.

Surprise Card! 10 of Cups (upright): Generally this spread will only contain three cards but an extra card fell out when I was shuffling and it felt important so i kept it to the side while I cut the cards!

This card is one of very general and all round happiness, wherein your spirits are likely to brought up but it’s of a different tone to the nine of cups which rings of very personal happiness and achievements. The 10 of cups is a card that speaks of a more spiritual happiness, where you are likely to start feeling more settled within yourself and fulfilled. Good tidings, amongst the stress and the responsibilities you’re trying to keep up with there will be a light shining through and giving you the hope and strength to get through, because you are that strength and you are the surprise of the rainbow after a downpour with sun!witch

Taking Chances Ch. 22: Petrichor and Bibliosmia (Library/books)

Marinette frowned at the rain outside of her window. She had wanted to go to the botanical gardens with Harley and Ivy today. But with the rain, both women decided it would be better to just reschedule. They didn’t want her to get sick. Which, to be fair, was sweet. But still upsetting because she really wanted to go to the gardens. She’d planned on using the plants as inspiration to make something for Ivy.

“Tikki, I’m bored.” She says, looking at her smallest friend. Tikki just looks at her.

“You’ve been stuck inside because of the weather before, Marinette. Why don’t you design?” Tikki suggests. Marinette huffs, flopping back down onto the cushioned window seat.

“But there’s nothing inspiring in my room, Tikki.” She mumbles, before shooting back up. “Do you think any of the boys are here?” She asks.

“Only one way to find out!” Tikki says with a smile, obviously relieved to have avoided any more whining from Marinette. She jumps up, throwing one of Dick’s old hoodies on over her t-shirt. She’d always gotten cold easily, and becoming the holder of the Ladybug Miraculous didn’t help. That, and the manor was cold on a good day- it would probably be freezing with how bad the weather was. She slides down the banister, knowing her Dad was at work and couldn’t yell at her.

“Miss Marinette, if you insist on behaving like your brothers, I will have to resort to treating you like your brothers.” Alfred says with raised eyebrows. But she can sense the smile wanting to break through. She just grins apologetically.

“Sorry, Alfred.” She says. “Speaking of my brothers, are any of them here right now?” She asks. If they’re not, she could probably convince Alfred to bake something with her. As long as she promises not to slide down the banister again.

“I believe Master Jason is in the library. Masters Dick and Damian are in the gym and Master Tim is at Wayne Enterprises with your father.” He says and she hums, thinking. She could go do some training with Dick and Damian, or she could go sit and sketch in the library with Jason.

“Thanks Alfred!” She says, giving him a wide smile before turning and walking down one of the many halls. She glances in open doors as she walks. Despite having lived here for nearly a month, she still got lost going anywhere other than her room, the dining room, the kitchen, and the Batcave. They were kind of the places she’d gone the most. She could also easily find her dad’s study and the main sitting room, most of the time. But the library wasn’t really a place she’d spent a lot of time in. And while she loved Dick and Damian, she also knew that they hadn’t gotten time to hang out just the two of them in a while. She’d talked to Dick before, about how when their dad was missing, he was basically Damian’s father. She knew that bonds like that didn’t just go away, knew that neither boy wanted it to. So she figured she’d just annoy Jay instead of barging in on the others’ bonding time.

Finally finding the library, she grins. Pushing the cracked door open a little more, she moves into the room, jaw dropping. The floor to ceiling bookshelves were packed. There were huge overstuffed couches, and the large windows had window seats attached- perfect little reading nooks. Quickly making a mental note to come to the library more, she starts to search for Jay. She knew he had to be in here. Alfred is never wrong. She grins when she spots him, sitting in what looked like an insanely uncomfortable position, but one she knew from experience was the best.

“Whatchya reading?” She asks, walking over and getting comfortable on the couch next to him.

“<i>Pride and Prejudice<i>.” He says, continuing reading for a moment before putting a little scrap of paper in the book and shutting it. “What’s up, Pixie Pop?” He asks, looking at her with a grin. Marinette sighs dramatically and moves so that she’s upside down on the couch.

“It’s raining. And I was supposed to go to the gardens with Ivy and Harley but they canceled because of my ‘health’ and they were ‘concerned’.” She says with a pout.

“And you decided the library was the best place to curb your boredom? No offense kid, but you don’t seem like the type to read.” He says and she huffs.

“I like books! It’s just-” She pauses, remembering the way Lila had teased her for it back in Paris. Her classmates hadn’t joined in, not really. They’d just agreed that she was a little odd.

“You okay, Pix?” Jason asks, his earlier grin replaced with a slightly concerned look. Marinette winces and nods.

“Yeah it’s- I can read. I swear I can. But when I’m looking at a book, or an article or anything with a lot of text, it gets hard to pick out the pieces. Things just kind of swirl together and then I can’t decode it and I get frustrated and just stop reading. It sucks, ‘cause I do like books. I listen to audiobooks while doing commissions.” She rambles, stopping and turning red. Though that may be from hanging upside down on the couch. Sighing, she sits up and shrugs. “Sorry I’m so weird.” She says. Jason’s face morphs into a scowl.

“Just ‘cause you learn differently doesn’t mean you’re weird, kid. Just means you’ve got your own style. Don’t let any of those little shits you go to school with tell you differently.” He says, reaching out and ruffling her hair. She smiles at him, a genuine happy smile. She was so relieved that he didn’t think she was weird. Or stupid. Lila had thrown that word around. That one hurt. Marinette prided herself on her quick thinking and cleverness. And her grades. They were some of the best in the class! So for Lila to call her stupid…

“Pixie.” Jason says, drawing the nickname out in a sing-song voice. She looks at him and raises an eyebrow. “You were zoned out, kid. So, was there something ya wanna do?” He asks. Marinette glances down at the book in his hand and frowns.

“I don’t wanna keep you from reading. I can just sit in here with you. I’ll probably end up grabbing my sketchbook.” She says. Jason waves in a ‘no big deal’ motion.

“I’ve read this book a million times.” He reassures her. She glances at the cover again, realizing it’s not one she’s really heard much about before.

“What’s it about?” She asks. “I’ve never read it.” Jay’s face morphs into a huge grin.

“You said you like listening to books, right?” He asks. She nods. “Well, then settle in because I’m going to read to you.” He says proudly with a grin.

“Oh, you really don’t-” She tries to say. She didn’t want to make him read to her. That was not-

“Oh but I want to.” He says, effectively cutting off her mental ramble before she can complete her meltdown. “Listen Pix, this is one of my favorite books. If you go listen to some dumb audio book, you won’t get my commentary. Trust me, this is the best way for you to read the book.” He says and she snorts, shaking her head lightly.

“Okay, Jay, let’s read a book.”

Finally arriving home after being stuck at the office, Bruce sets off to find his daughter. Since his apology a few days ago, he’d attempted to make an effort to check in on her and see how she was doing. He tried to also do the same with the boys, but they had all given him odd looks, so he didn’t continue. He checks her room, the Batcave, the sitting room- nothing. He finally decides to check the kitchen. If he had to guess, she’d be there baking with Alfred. He walks in and sees Alfred, but no Marinette.

“Good evening, Alfred. Have you seen Marinette?” Bruce asks, silently hoping she hadn’t left the planet again.

“I believe she’s in the library with Master Jason.” Alfred says and Bruce blinks in surprise. He’d never seen her read a book before, while Jason always had a book on him. He supposed it could be a hobby of hers that he just hasn’t noticed. Or, she could have just followed Jason. Which seems more likely. The two of them were all but attached at the hip ever since the Gala. It was surprising, but at the same time welcoming. Thanking Alfred quickly, he walks towards the library. He’d just say hi and leave. No need to make them stop reading if they were having fun. Gently pushing open the library door he walks in and pauses at the sight. Marinette had wrapped herself in a blanket and was almost sitting on the edge of the couch, leaning forward with an intense look of concentration on her face. Jason had his legs swung over the arm of the couch and was reading out loud. Immediately recognizing the book as Jason’s favorite, Bruce slowly leaves the library, careful not to let the door slam. He’d have the chance to talk to Marinette later, but for now, he’d let the two continue reading in peace.
