I’ve recently begun passing down the tradition of listening to podcasts to my little sister. (TMA was first, now she’s on TBS, next is Wolf 359)

But she’s on the last episode of season 4 and we’re approaching The AM Archives rapidly and she is Very attached to Owen. (as am I, TBF, he’s my favorite and always has been.)

I just thought you might enjoy knowing that your podcast is being passed on!

It’s been nice to share a podcast i’ve relistened so many times with her, seeing her react for the first time where I know the story almost beat for beat by now

oh gosh, I LOVE this! I have an older sister and so much of my taste in books, movies, tv shows, and music was formed (and still is formed) by her and what she shares with me. so the idea of my podcast being part of a relationship like that makes me enormously happy!!!

Oh my god so many thoughts 😭

So already the Inquisition is on the back foot before they can even get an invitation. Zara's mother, Guinevere, comes from a relatively new money Orlesian family. She was engage to another Orlesian noble but kept delaying the marriage with her studies at the University of Orlais. She met Aurelius Trevelyan while he was visiting on behalf of Bann Hadwin. They were rather hastily married when Guinevere found out she was pregnant. This put Zara's branch of the Trevelyans in a bad spot with the upper circles of Orlesian society. (And they were already underwater in terms of their relationship to the Chantry and lost standing within Ostwick in the last 150 years.)

Josephine had to ask Zara's uncle, Tristan, to give a public show of welcoming upon arrival at Halamshiral separate from Gaspard's. He also made sure to give Zara her mother's court masks to ensure that she was visibly of his house. (She ended up wearing her mother's engagement mask, which had to be reworked when she married Aurelius to have both Trevelyan and Beaumanior heraldry.)

As for the actual ball itself, Zara absolutely HATES it. The nobility see her as a bit of a circus freak at the beginning because of both her family and her magic. She knows the etiquette but that doesn't help when she knows all eyes are on her at every moment. Probably the only thing that helps is she's fairly witty and is an excellent dancer.

Zara also really hates that she can't be protective of Cullen during the ball. She manages to help him get away from his "admirers" (ugh) a few times. She tries not to be too upset when he turns down her dance the first time, and Leliana almost threatens his life when she finds out about that slip up.

As for who she chooses to support on the throne, she really hates Gaspard so she feels obligated to support Celene. But she finds out about her and Briala and can't help the romantic in her. She helps them to reconcile.

Oh, and she and Cullen *almost* fuck after the ball. But, as always, they get interrupted by unaware messangers. 😅
