James Roberts and the DJD (TFN2018)

So remember the DJD and the “Sparkeater” Blip?  At the Lost Light panel, James Roberts said that the scene with Blip waking up to find his own brain in his mouth was originally meant to have one of the DJD members remove the brain with their mouth. It was obviously scrapped but that is so... dark? Even crazier than the scene we got.

There are only a handful of days left to TFNation 2018, and we wanted to help everyone still not on it to hop onto the hype train, by reminding attendees what a ticket to the event entails. There are of course three tiers of tickets (Saturday only, Sunday only, Weekend), with some differences between them in terms of full access depending on the programme – but the main content below is available to all!

With order then:

Your basic,

one-day (Saturday or Sunday) TFNation ticket

grants you access to the following:

20 traders, in the trader hall (Monarch), from across the Transformers and action figure market, including the major outlets in the UK and more; please note: there is no trading on Friday.

20 fan creators in The Forge (Warwick), including some of the best creatives in the Transformers fandom selling their wares, arts, crafts, pins, magnets, stickers, comics and more.

13 guest professionals (Monarch), personalities behind multiple aspects of the Transformers franchise, from comics to movies, toys to cartoons, ready to sign and talk and be included in photos.

12 hours of panels across the two days (6 on Saturday, 6 on Sunday, Pavillion), from fan panels to professionals talking about their work, spanning from toy creation at Hasbro, IDW Publishing comics, voice acting work, and beyond!  Strictly no access to Friday Panels

A weekend ticket for TFNation

also grants you access to:

Club Con (Kings)! Featuring a Script Reading (with event guests reading an original piece of Transformers fiction, in character) and Cosplay Contest, which takes place on the Saturday night!

11 more hours of panels, brought to you by fans (Friday, Pavillion), spanning from YouTube communities, via cosplay and toy photography to more niche interests!

Being in the Pretenders Cosplay contest was insane! I had never cosplayed before, let alone been in a competition!!!! Everyone looked amazing, and I was a very nervous Verity Carlo. Well done everyone!! I met the most awesome and brave people there, and it was incredible!

(Featuring an absolutely gorgeous Tarantulas - Verity probably still has PTSD from Sins of the Wreckers with this character. Loved the conclusion in Requiem. Tara will always be one of my favourites!!) Such amazing costumes...!

I didn’t take many photos at TFN this year (because I found myself spacing out a lot- maybe too much).

Highlights this year (for me):

- People got a kick out of my “Victimized by Starscream Getaway” badge; in particular, Jack Lawrence and Nick Roche had a good laugh about it.

- Stan Bush concert!

- Meeting Stan Bush and telling him that his music saved me life in some of my darkest hours. He is a really, really cool guy and I’m glad that I got to see him perfom live. He signed on my hoverboard (because a hoverboard was in TFTM when Dare played). I got so overwhelmed and cried after I left his table. Many thanks to the woman and the volunteer who checked on me and gave me tissue!

- Got a good laugh from Nick when I asked him to cross out Getaway on my copy of the Lost Light print. He happily did it.

- Meeting @hopperlicious!

- Seeing @stlplaybox again!

I went to the Forge first on Saturday and spent 113 pounds at @coralus’s table lol.

I cosplayed two versions of human Tailgate this year- the hoodie rendition on Saturday, and the baby dress from MTMTE#43 on Sunday. I think other people got photos of my cosplays.

I got some people asking if I’m selling my badges. Maybe I’ll open a real online shop and start taking preorders when I get back from my vacation? And design more badges?

Transmission_Initiated Transmission ID: 00011TFNation_2018 Operation: A Handful of Voices The second voice actor that TFNation is proud to present for 2018 hails from the land of the early 2000s, and the series that some will argue is called Car Robots, when we all really know it as Robots in Disguise (2001) - please join us in welcoming the man behind Megatron, leader of the Predacons: Daniel Riordan! As well as voicing the purple leader Megatron, Daniel remained at the mic for the gold and white upgrade Galvatron, and is so far the only voice actor famous for lending his talents to a robot, jet, bat, two-headed dragon, giant flying hand, roadster, winged griffin, one-headed dragon, hydroplane, and an elephant, all while only really voicing the same character. In a fun twist, he also voiced Omega Prime, the combined form of Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus and leader of the Autobot side, opponent and eventual vanquisher of Galvatron in the final episode of the series. In other Transformers appearances you may recognise, Daniel was behind the 2007 videogame based on the Paramount live-action series, and specifically, the Decepticon characters of Bonecrusher and Shockwave. He has also been involved in several videogame franchises as secondary and additional character voices, with the likes of Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect III, Age of Empires III, Skyrim, and more. On screen, both big and small, he is well known for his roles in Dreamgirls, Jingle All The Way, The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space, and a brief presence in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Wild Thornberrys. Daniel Riordan will be present all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for quick photo opportunities, and eager to meet fans of his work and of Transformers in general! Personal TFNation highlight? Mairghread Scott seeing my lesbian Decepticon shirt and asking what it is about the Decepticons that makes us lesbians such huge fans? Literally most sapphic TF fans she’s met are Con supporters.  Must be Sapphic culture -I’ve never seen any evidence to prove this wrong.

Hello! These are the 5.8cm button badges I’ll have at TFN this year.

Since I don’t have a table and won’t be selling at the con, these are available only by reservation & in-person pick up. I will only print the exact amount reserved.

I still have a few Functionist mood prompt badges left from last year, and they have magnets inside them. But the new batch I’m printing this year won’t have magnets at all. 

Please note that the backside is always teal blue (as shown in the last pic), regardless of the design on the front.
