this is actually a whole big issue for my Nerevarine.

Vardasa starts off not buying it, but after Dagoth Ur's dreams start, she finds in her waking hours she acts on instincts and memories that she has no way of having. She's assuming it's just more of Dagoth Ur, but the memories seem to get..... Pointed, if you will, as she continues.

Well before she's named Nerevarine, it starts to get to where she can trigger a memory in stressful situations, and it is VERY clear not only are these the memories of Indoril Nerevar, but *something* is selecting specific memories.

She treats it as a strange form of Ancestor guidance, but even asking all the Wise Women, and the oldest mages, no one can tell her of anyone else having an experience like this.

At some point she starts outright calling the memories, or what's sending them, Nerevar, and is more or less talking to him in her head.

Being declared Nerevarine and meeting the failed Incarnates doesn't exactly help, and she's mostly just glad *they* didn't start sending her memories.

Var is half out of her mind by the time she reaches the Heart, between Dagoth dreams, Indoril memories, and Telvanni magic.

Dagoth Ur's defeat leaves her free of his dreams, but not of the bright shadow of Serjo Indoril Nerevar Mora in her mind.

She outright argues with "him" over how to deal with Almalexia. Nerevar wants to help her, save her from herself. Vardasa is overly patient trying to figure how Nerevar thinks she can do this. This gets her stabbed by the bitch. At which point Var is basically like "Indoril methods have failed. We're doing this like proper Telvanni now." And uses some... Really nasty magic to finish things.

Vardasa is a selfish, spiteful, and lazy Telvanni who hates getting her hands dirty.

Nerevar is. Noble. Charismatic. Active. A leader, who leads from the front lines.

As the lines blur, and Vardasa becomes Var becomes NereVardasa, this contradiction threatens to tear her apart.

Yeah. This is the central idea that all my work with my Nerevarine revolves around.

I saw the poll about whether Nerevarine is actually Nerevar reborn, but how about "does Nerevarine believe they are Nerevar?" With options like "they are Nerevar and they know" "they are and they do/not believe they are (but don't know for sure)", "they are not and they do/not believe"
