Y'all. Please. I am begging you. Please learn to recognize radfem talking points because then when you see a comment like this posted
Tumblr media
you can take a minute and go "hm that sounds suspiciously like radfem rhetoric! Maybe I will not platform this!" because this is the op of the post
Tumblr media
(and yes. I did scroll their blog. They are a terf.)
I'm not asking y'all to background check everything on your dash, that would be absolutely ridiculous, but this website has a really bad problem with not realizing what they're promoting is radfem shit, and posting their talking points is, in fact, dangerous, because normalizing a comment like this is the first step to radicalization of others. Comparing this woman's hobby (rich inner life) while dismissing men's (sneakers and funko pops) devalues men and and flattens them into caricatures. It helps create a narrative that all men do is oppress and harm women (read: white women, radfem rhetoric is racist and sneaker collecting is STRONGLY associated with the Black community in the US), which the beginning of the comment also implies (the commenter is speaking about an imagined man who can't imagine women have "rich and complex inner lives" and is implying that this is any man.) "All men devalue and oppress women" leads very easily into "therefore women need to be protected from men" and then to "which means preventing men from infiltrating women's spaces" which is, yeah, you guessed it, key trans exclusive rhetoric. You normalize one, you're on the slippery slope to normalizing the rest. Making seemingly innocuous comments like this seem normal and reasonable is how radicalization works!
Recognizing TERF (and SWERF!!!) talking points and refusing to spread even mild ones around will do more for trans people than any number of "TERFs fuck off" posts ever will. That's all I'm asking! Please.
(Also, for the record: treating men as if it's inevitable that they'll harm women removes the agency of men who actually DO harm women as well as the accountability for that harm, and this attitude applying disproportionately to Black men is one factor to why they are disproportionately subject to police violence in the US. Radical feminism is racism.)

Tw for te/rf rhetoric/beliefs. Apologies in advance for how long this is lol.
I wasn’t fully in the terf cult, Ive maybe talked to one terf and then backed out when she gave me really sketch vibes about how she felt about trans men (which I wasn’t, but it felt predatory and gross and I didn’t wanna be around it). but I did fall into kink-critical radical feminism when I was a teenager because my trauma around patriarchy and extreme discomfort around any nuance within sexual dynamics made kink critical conversations feel sensible. Like of course I should be critical of kink that can take advantage of and abuse consent and condition you to let awful degrading things happen to your body under the guise of consent because the person doing that to you has no reason to be turned on by your powerlessness and if you get off on that, you’re someone we should be concerned about. I was seventeen.
Kink-critical turned into, very quickly, “if you were raised as a man/amab, you’re dangerous to women/afabs because of that gender power differential in patriarchy” which turned into “it’s pretty suspicious that trans women want an opt out of being misogynistic and sexually exploitative towards afabs” because it’s “okay now that she’s a woman” which turned into “trans men Are men but they’re still afab which means they’re basically just women still” (but not in the cool bigender way, but in the gross terf way). This didn’t happen perfectly chronologically or linearly.
While I never misgendered a trans woman and never wanted to take away their rights or ever believed she was a man invading women’s spaces, that conditioning still stuck and I’m still trying to unlearn it and it’s still really hard to undo all that programming. These days, I still have to catch myself all the time. It really seeps into you if you’re not careful. And it all started with someone validating my trauma around consent and patriarchy at 17. Terfs and radfems do not have good intentions, but their words look pretty if you’re not careful. Even if they don’t start off believing trans women are predatory evil masterminds. You cannot always trust your gut instincts about certain things because your gut instincts were not formed in a vacuum devoid of biased conditioning and if they can validate one (understandable) concern you have, they can turn that against others and they will.
It isn’t your fault if they target you but it is your responsibility to make sure you hold yourself accountable for the choices you make from then-on. Being a victim is, surprise, not mutually exclusive from holding bigoted behavior that needs to be checked. But we also need to stop alienating every single person who isn’t pure of heart and mind and soul because literally nobody is. Sorry for the ramble.
yup, like at a certain point you have to sit with yourself and figure out: do you want there to be less bad people or do you want to hate the bad people? which option will cause you less pain in the long term? the answer is probably there being less bad people. and this is where internet 'i don't owe you emotional labor' activism has really fucked us over. because should marginalized people have to sit there and explain to their oppressors why we are human beings? absolutely not. but will we have to do that sometimes if it means they get deradicalized and join the fight for liberation? yeah. and obviously, when possible, it should be allies doing this work. but sometimes you're gonna have to get your hands dirty and it's gonna suck. but sometimes you are going to change someone's mind, and it will be worth it.

Tumblr > Settings> Click on Blog > Scroll down > Featured Tags
Tumblr media
[ID: A cropped screenshot of the 'Featured Tags' options on Tumblr Desktop version, showing a blank box where you can type in custom tags and a list of four tags already added to my account, being Doctor Who, Danny Phantom, Quantum Leap, and Star Wars, with a box next to each giving the option of removing them. End ID]
Hey, did you know Tumblr that Tumblr now lets you finally edit the "popular tags" that pop up when you search your own blog?
Tumblr media
[ID: a cropped screenshot of my tumblr blog's search function with no text entered yet. There is a pop up box prompting me to check out the popular tags on my blog, which now read as Doctor Who, Danny Phantom, Quantum Leap, and Star Wars. end ID]
This means if someone's checking out my blog, they're not going to see my most-used tags across the entire life of my blog-- things like 'no ID' , 'undescribed images', 'bold text', 'large text', 'capslock', etc, which are all filtering tags or content warning tags, which doesn't give you a good look at what I *actually* post about!
(Or, gods forbid, it would still say I post lots of Supernatural things from 2014 from the sheer volume of ancient posts hanging around in the beginning times of my blog)
So now, if you click on your own blog and go to the search bar and, like me, were greeted with ancient fandoms you don't care about anymore, or just a wall of filtering tags that isn't going to give anyone visiting your blog an idea of what you post about now, you can now remove unwanted tags and type in custom ones, such as me adding Star Wars to my featured tag list :)
As another note, this also means you can't rely entirely on the Featured Tags popup when checking someone's blog to see if they're a TERF or not, since they can now remove those obvious tags, so make sure you actually *search* suspected TERF blogs for the terms trans, rad, female, male, moid, etc to get the best results, as they've wised up (a tiny bit) to the fact they shouldn't post the word trans too much if they want to avoid detection.
Which, you know, is absolutely hilarious that they're aware of the fact that literally everyone hate their guts and will block them on sight if they post enough obvious bullshit, but still somehow under the impression that they're also somehow in the majority and morally right lol.
Sorry, but if you have to hide the fact that you're a terf from the average follower let alone friends and family otherwise they'd be horrified at your rhetoric of hate, maybe that says something about your ideologies.
If you're a terf and you have to be crypto to have online friends? Maybe you should think about why that is.
Anyways, obligatory "fuck off terfs" done, go, be free, have fun removing the 'supernatural' Featured Tag from your blog after 8 years of it being stuck there!

~About me~
My name is Bailey. I'm a trans guy, and my pronouns are He/Him. I’m also Asexual! :D. I’m currently 19 and still don’t have a driver’s license, lmao. I primarily draw fan-art of various hyper-fixations, but I also have my own OC’s I may post about from time to time. Feel free to check out my Instagram or my Youtube, since I post about them more often there.
Also, I jump around fandoms really often. Currently my big ones are Hermit-craft, Octonauts, and Welcome Home. So yeah be aware of that :p
~Art/ Blog Related Info~
I do art commissions!!! Click the new "Commission Info" button on my Link-tree to see my prices!
I use Procreat for IOS for all my artwork, I animate in Flipaclip, and currently use CapCut to edit.
My asks are always open. Feel free to send me an ask and I’ll do my best to answer it. I also may do requests, but probably only if I find it interesting and I have spare time. Please don’t feel bad if you send a request and I don’t draw it.
I try to always tag posts that are potentially sensitive with trigger warnings, although It’s not that tightly organized. Not to mention I can’t always use the more well known tags because of Tumblr IOS’s ridiculous censorship policy. So feel free to message me if there’s a specific tag you’d like me to add.
Feel free to use my art as a profile picture or banner! Just make sure you credit me either in a pinned post, in your bio, or in your username. :]
All my artwork can be found under the tag #bailey’s art
All artwork of my expansive OCs can be found under the tag #bailey’s original characters
You can also find goofy lore bits about my characters under the tag #bailey's oc lore or search "oc lore" on the profile browse thing
All my animations can be found under the tag #bailey's animations
All my commission work can be found under the tag #bailey’s commissions
Any comics I’ve made will be under the tag #bailey’s comics
And all my various rambling’s and text posts on various fandoms can be found under the tag #bailey’s ramblings

You know I had been debating making a post about the Cayde stans and how often they flood the d2 tag with posts talking about wanting to murder/watch Cayde murder Crow and how fucking annoying that is.  And also how I can’t even go into the Uldren/Crow related tags without seeing their super aggressive posts because they keep tagging the characters. But jesus did I not expect the situation to get as bad as it did!
Really loving a character and being upset that they died and wanting them back is one thing, I get it.  I’ve been holding out a sliver of hope that Roman Torchwick will someday return to RWBY and he’s been dead since like 2016.  But petitioning and pestering the devs to bring him back for no other reason than he’s your uwu funny husbando, flooding other character tags with hate and calls for violence against that character, and having literal real life breakdowns because you remembered that fictional character is dead are very different things and some of these stans really need to turn the game off, take a break, and maybe talk to a counselor about their unhealthy obsession.
Now all of this is bad and annoying all on it’s own and it’s been an ongoing issue in the d2 tag for a WHILE now and it’s honestly making me not want to check the Destiny and Uldren/Crow tags because I’m so sick of it being filled with this shit.
But finding out that a lot of the prominent Cayde stan blogs follow, reblog, and are friendly with fascists blogs?  That they post TERF shit?  And yet people in the tag are still reducing this situation to “annoying cayde stans flooding the tag vs the people who are annoyed about them”??  Why are we not more upset about this being seen as acceptable in our fandom space?  Is it not bad enough that the d2 fandom on twitter is filled with toxic assholes who constantly make women, poc, and lgbt fans feel unwelcome?  Now we’re just gonna downplay and tolerate that kind of thing here too?  It’s baffling that I’ve already seen so many posts treating this like petty drama rather than an actual ongoing issue with the d2 fandom.
I’m glad that some people have spoken out about this because this is absolutely a dialog that needs to be started but too many people are treating this like funny fandom drama.  But stuff like this being peddled by some pretty prominent fandom blogs IS a huge problem.  Seeing these posts, even if you may not agree with them, can normalize it.  The messages in these posts can be passively absorbed until you start to actually think “You know what that’s actually a good point”.  It’s a pipeline and I promise it’s not worth it just to see fandom content.
It’s especially upsetting because Bungie does a good job at trying to foster inclusivity and show their support for poc, women, the lgbt community so that they feel comfortable playing the game and being involved with fandom.  And frankly I’m tired of constantly seeing things that directly go against all of that and instead try to push all of those people out.  Toxic gamer dudes on twitter and now conservative terfs on tumblr...
I don’t want to continue to feel pushed out of a fandom that by all accounts I should feel welcomed in.
And in case it wasn’t obvious from my ramblings:
Fuck fascists
Fuck TERFs
Fuck bigots

Actually helpful advice for the kids on this hellsite
Once again tired of "don't make a carrd or tell people your triggers" posts going around literally telling kids it's Dangerous to set boundaries. So here's what I've learned in my teen years on how to stay safe in the hellscape that's the internet.
Identity
You don't have to link all your social media together but you can if you want to. Don't give out something that is more private (like discord account, Skype or zoom account, facebook, Snapchat etc.) publicly or to people who aren't familiar with yet though.
Use a nickname rather than your real name or birth name, an account and name change may unfortunately be necessary so if you want to keep a name safe or use it irl then don't attach it to public social media. This can be fun though! Go apeshit coming up with different aliases and names! Call yourself lizard if you want to!
The only thing you absolutely need to put somewhere on your account (or carrd) is that you're a minor. You don't have to give the exact age but I promise this is important because even if there's plenty of context clues that you're a minor if you don't indicate this somewhere clear and adults start treating you like shit you need to be able to point out that they're knowingly doing this to a minor. That has saved me from gross bullshit a lot. Yes, people should default to treating people who's ages they don't know as a minor to play it safe but the majority of people assume everyone is the same age as them so you need to make it clear you're not an adult.
Pronouns don't make you identifiable and anyone who acts like putting your pronouns in your bio is unsafe is probably transphobic lmao. You don't have to if you don't want to (and don't mind people not using/knowing your pronouns) but it's safe to put them there most of the time. (The only exception I can think of is if you're closeted and your parents may find your account but in that case you should probably stay closeted online to unless you feel safe/know they aren't likely to find your account.)
You don't have to list every privilege you have and you probably shouldn't but if you're white you probably should indicate this somewhere. This is to hold yourself accountable because yes even teenagers can be racist and underaged people of color also deserve to feel safe. If you're nonwhite and don't feel safe doing so you don't have to list your race or ethnicity.
If you're part of a system/plural or questioning you do NOT have to say your systems origins, if you have DID/OSDD, or list your headmates/alters. The system community has a lot of people in it (and singlets adjacent to parts of the community due to bullshit discourse groups welcoming them) who will target underaged systems to fakeclaim them or harass them etc. I suggest having everyone use aliases/nicknames on a system account and you only tell your origin to people you feel comfortable around and safe with. Your safety and privacy is more important than your trendy system carrd goals I promise!
You shouldn't really just list any disorders you have but it really does no harm to put marginalized identities you're proud of on a carrd or in your bio. You might get a shitty anon or two but I promise people aren't going to dox you if you say you're autistic on your carrd or something.
I personally wouldn't list any special interests that are particularly recognizable (popular media should be ok but more niche stuff may not be) or publicly share a kin list just because you never know if you'll want to switch up your identity online to feel safe and the more things are clearly tied to your current nickname and handle the harder it will be to do this. However if you feel safe doing so it's not the end of the world. Just be careful about it and don't feel pressured to give more info than you're comfortable giving.
You do NOT need to tell people your trauma in order to tell them your triggers. If you need something tagged with a tw you really should indicate this somewhere so people know to tag it (unless you intend to send every you're mutuals with an anon with what to tag which is also an option but may be difficult) but you shouldn't tell them your trauma or medical history to justify it. Your boundaries aren't up for debate and you have nothing to prove. You should only talk about your trauma if you feel safe doing so (and even then please don't give identifiable details like.names of people involved or specifics as that can cause serious problems.)
Boundaries & etiquette
DNIs are good! BYFs are good! Anyone who tells you that they're not good or useful is absolutely trying to disrespect your and other people's boundaries. You can and should make a DNI and list the people you don't want to interact with. (Generally it's better to say groups rather than specific people or names because it's easier to again not be recognized if you need to change accounts/aliases but you can do this if you have strong reasoning and absolutely have to to feel safe.)
DNIs (and also.trigger lists) don't have to all be bad things! You can put fandoms that make you uncomfortable, things that trigger you but aren't bad inherently, etc. on these lists. They're about helping you feel safe not having the hottest takes or being the most morally correct.
Some people you should put in your DNIs as a minor are proshippers/anti-antis and MAPs. Both of these groups have been proven time and time again to groom minors online so the earlier you get away from them the better.
Once you have your DNI please do be aggressive in reinforcing it! Block people who break your DNI, tell people who complain about your DNI to fuck off! Do not tolerate people trying to debate the boundaries You have set this is your corner of the internet to feel safe! They can go somewhere else! Being blocked by a kid on the internet is not the emotional blow abusers act like it is. You're not mean for having boundaries please internalize this and stand up for yourself!
If other people have a DNI you need to check that before following them this is for both your own safety and theirs. If you're unsure what something on someone's DNI means ask around to find out before following just in case.
Do NOT get involved in discourse! This doesn't mean you can't ever take part in or boost serious things. Discussing/calling out bigotry (racism, ableism, transphobia, etc.) isn't discourse. Sometimes callout posts for legitimately harmful people is necessary so that's not automatically bad. But I'm taking about the shit that's #discourse. Stay out of ace discourse. Stay away from syscourse. Don't debate with terfs or transmeds or shitty people. I know it seems like it'd be cathartic to win debates with shitty people, I know there's people who will try to bait you into the latest argument over which lgbt+ identities can say what slurs or whatever the fuck the pointless bad faith argument is, and I know you want to prove that your marginalized identity doesn't make you a bad person like bigots say it does. But as someone who's mental health was absolutely destroyed by discourse as a teen it's not worth it. By all means discuss issues as they arise, broaden your perspectives and horizons, etc. but don't engage knowingly in discourse it will save you so much trouble in the long run.
Try to avoid talking to adults 1x1 if you can avoid it! It's okay to dm with an adult you feel safe talking to sometimes and while it's certainly okay not to interact with adults at all if you don't feel.comfortable it's generally okay to do so. But if an adult is going out of their way to consistently talk to you in private needlessly that can be a red flag. If an adult tries to insinuate that they're the only adult around you can trust that's DEFINITELY a red flag. Basically talk to people in places you can easily involve others if needs be. If someone sends you a dm that makes you uncomfortable screenshot it in case you need to show someone etc.
Don't discuss NSFW things with adults, in spaces adults have easy access to (for example a discord server open to all ages), or even with other underaged people who haven't indicated they're comfortable with it. There's nothing inherently wrong with being aware of nsfw stuff or experiencing sexual attraction as a teenager but it's very important that you don't put yourself in situations that may be unsafe for you or others. Most good discord servers have rules against this for this exact reason. Now, to make it abundantly clear, if you did or do ever say something nsfw and an adult takes advantage of this or responds in a way that makes you uncomfortable this is NOT your fault! The responsibility falls on adults to act appropriately but it's still a good idea to keep youeself out of harms way.
That's basically it on a general level. Once again, posts telling you not to make DNIs or carrds or trigger lists (all used to set clear boundaries) are very suspect and either grossly misunderstand how these things work or are intentionally demonizing them in order to have more opportunity it excuse to do harm. Setting clear boundaries is good. Doing things that help you feel safe and respected is good. Just don't go and get involved in discourse or give out personal information or anything.

People complaining about 'queer baiting' when they ought to be more concerned about the amount of fetishisation that occurs when people ship two men lol
Hey Nonny,
I’m gonna assume you’re not trying to be a dick, and are coming from a good place, though you taking the time out to put this ask in a weird serif font is leaving me wondering if you’re trying to stand on a soapbox, but I’m going to ignore that for now, and I ask anyone replying to this post to please also grant that same respect. I only wish to educate, learn, and interact, after all.
I get what you’re trying to say re: queerbaiting, I really do. And fetishization is a problem, I agree.
Let’s tackle the queerbaiting first.
Let it be known to you that a large majority of the people calling “queerbaiting” are queer people and academics. I know the false stigma that “fandom is full of stupid little girls” still exists and is something that, quite frankly, this ask is implying and therefore helping to perpetuate. It’s not. Honestly, with this take you have here, you’re disregarding and invalidating the feelings of millions of other queer people who genuinely feel when something is queerbaiting because it’s something they have experienced over and over and OVER again and media just “LOL OOPS SORRY WON’T DO IT AGAIN”.
Disney is a perfect example of this. How many “first LGBT characters” has Disney had now? At least one a year for the past decade.
Listen, the people who initially called it out years ago for Sherlock were older folks who have lived decades of media constantly teasing gay relationships and then not following through with it at the end... literally “baiting” queer people to watch their shows because more people = more money.
Anyway, Gattiss confirmed he used homoerotic subtext to bait people, so I don’t know what else to say on this matter. That link also has some additional articles and sources that came out regarding the queerbaiting aspect of Sherlock, and they’re all good reads, so I do recommend checking them out.
Some other interesting reads, if only so you can gain some empathy for the others who DO see it as queerbaiting:
Gender and Queer Fan Labour on Tumblr: The Case of BBC’s Sherlock (Webarchive link, so give it a few to load)
The Elephant in the Room: Authorship, Queerbaiting and Sherlock
Queerbaiting in Sherlock
PODCAST: Queerbaiting in Sherlock
From Queer Reading to Queerbaiting - DiVA Portal
And as I’ve mentioned in past posts, I personally believe Sherlock IS queerrbaiting WITHOUT a confirmation in S5. They had the chance to stop it in S3, and instead they ramped it up. And yes, if you only watch Sherlock and omit S3 and TAB completely, I can see the queerbaiting argument null and void. But instead they made the episode that John was supposed to be getting married the gayest episode in the whole series, next to TAB. So I dunno, my friend.
Now, I shall discuss the very thin line of fetishization vs shipping.
I am not a professional AND I am a fairly recently-realized member of the LGBT community, so I don’t feel it’s my place to tell you what’s what.
There’s a really interesting Tumblr post by LGBT+ Weekly about this very thing that I think offers a “both sides” approach: Shipping and queer fetishization. And this interesting and on-point post here: About Fandom, Slash, and Fetishizing Gay Men.
From here, I can only offer my opinion, not fact, and I am open to being educated.
Yes, absolutely some people fetishize LGBT relationships. I’m NOT going to say there aren’t. But a majority of people ship ANY ship because it helps them understand themselves. It’s just that simple, and to tell someone that them shipping characters is bad / no good / fetishization can be harmful to them and make them fear “being gay”. Shipping characters is a way of disconnecting themselves from, well, themselves, and it’s a “safe place” to “come out” or discover themselves.
To me, you’re breaking down fetishization as “I like reading about two people fucking” and nothing beyond that, and not taking into account that many people like a pairing because of chemistry, or because someone sees themselves in a character and are exploring their own sexuality through it. If that’s the case, then I guess all M/F ships are are fetishizations? Why is it only M/M that people decry “fetishization”, when F/F is apparently not (clarification: it totally can also be)? So, is me liking Johnlock any different than my Zutara ship? Why?
Plus, the reason so many people ship M/M ships is because there’s just SO MANY MALE CHARACTERS ON ANY GIVEN SHOW.
I get what you’re trying to say, Nonny, I really do. And I know the definition of fetish. But AGAIN, these are characters, not real people, and you’re disregarding other aspects of shipping. Not everyone reads smut to get off. And even if they did, why is that so bad for some people? Personally, I read it because I enjoy reading stories about my favourite characters enjoying being together. I enjoy the dynamic, the possibilities, the chemistry and the love. That it’s never too late to find your person. That two broken souls can help heal each other.
Anyway, TL;DR of all this is:
YOUR experience is NOT someone else’s experience.
You didn’t see Sherlock as queerbaiting? Fine, but please understand there’s a reason so many other people DO and it’s not just fandom saying it. The general audience also has said it’s queerbaiting.
You see shipping as fetishization? Okay, and that’s fine. Your definition of fetishization means fictional people having sex, I guess. Maybe I’m just genuinely naïve, but... isn’t that kind of... TERF-y or homophobic? I mean... many people use same-sex shipping and assorted headcanons to help them understand themselves and their sexuality. And why is M/F shipping NOT fetishization, given the broad definition you’re implying by your ask? And I don’t want to get too deep into asexuality, but read up on aegosexuality. Are you then saying aces are fetishists too? Seems like aces can’t enjoy anything, I guess.
They’re fictional characters. Not real people.
Look, I’m stupid and naïve, I get that. And if I have the wrong take here, I’m genuinely interested in hearing your respectful thoughts, along with other people’s. Just, please respect and understand that everyone is not YOU. It’s rather selfish to think that your experiences are everyone else’s, if I’m being honest.
I’m not asking for you to “see my side of things”, just to have a bit of empathy, is all. It can go a long way in a world where just being who you are can get you killed. Fandom and shipping is an escape for a lot of people, because reality is a cruel son of a bitch.
All this said, Nonny, I just want you to be safe and healthy. If discussions of shipping and queerbaiting bother you, please black list the tags, get out of fandom, and please take care of yourself.

isn't it kind of common knowledge that shinigami eyes gets misused all the time and people have happily admitted to messing with it? people should be learning how to critically read through blogs and make their own informed decisions before following, instead of blindly and uncritically obeying the colored username lmao
yeah i use the extension to warn me about possible TERFs or whatever but i always check their blog to confirm whether or not they actually are before i block them or whatever. i don't take the red name as the Absolute Truth. and yes the extension has zero moderation it's very easy to fuck with it and mark people for just having opinions that differ from yours
(edit: this is misinformation. i was under the impression shinigami eyes was purely based off of user submissions, but it is moderated and accounts universally marked green/red are approved by a moderator. sorry!)

can we talk about how the LGBT movement has changed in the past 15 years?
in the light of the events surrounding Chris chan, and people prioritizing pronouns over the rape of a woman with dementia, I think it displays just how... different things are.
i personally feel like it's been co-opted by the more loud and entitled mtfs/ males/penis-havers/whatever pc term exists for the XY chromosome'd, who go too far and aren't reasonably kept in check. I think terf no longer has meaning anymore because it's just become a word we use to silence anyone that disagrees with a trans woman. immediately you're going to call me a terf, I accept that, but please continue reading. I may suprise you. calling someone who's transgender a terf is kinda messed up anyway, and that's exactly why im writing this.
I also think that everyone else (allies, ftms, etc) have followed suit because they've written this messed up narrative that EvErYoNe iS VaLiD. except for trans penis-havers, bc they're the most oppressed and the most valid, actually, regardless of their experiences.
I never used to believe the above because it was always written off as terf shit, and ignoring it kinda benefitted me, but between seeing ftms getting bashed for refusing to follow new "TME" rules as if they aren't trans too, and seeing outrage around Chris chans pronouns, I think it's time to start saying things that may make people uncomfortable. innocent people are already getting hurt by this, and we need to do better. it's time to get uncomfortable.
I want to remind you that perception is both the relying factor, and also the downfall of newer lgbt theory. if my profile were mtf coded, maybe it currently is, you'd call me a self hating trans and I wouldn't be that big of a deal. terfs would probably target me.
if my profile was ftm coded, I would be absolutely skewered for daring to speak out about these issues, even though they do actually affect ftms disproportionately. terfs would try to convince me that being trans is a plague and a mental illness, and to just ~be a cis woman~!
and if assumed cis, I would 100% be assumed radfem terf, and everything I say would immediately be dismissed because of the genuine damage terfs have done. but terfs would still probably flock to this post and berate me for daring to validate trans people At All, because to them, being transgender is a mental illness akin to an eating disorder, and "giving in" to it is "self harm". clearly I don't believe that, so hopefully you'll give me at least some benefit of the doubt.
so, does my identity matter? i have a feeling you'll say yes, because it gives us a good idea of experiences I do and don't have expertise in, and thus room to talk about. but I refuse to directly identify what I actually am because I want the focus of any resulting conversation to be my message and not my self identification. if you read between the lines and figure it out that's just fine, but I would like to be heard first and foremost.
my profile is thus an attempt at being cis female coded, somewhat out of comfort, and that is likely what I'll be assumed to be due to the beliefs I am expressing, even though there is a substantial risk of getting misgendered and dismissed, no matter what my birth sex may actually be. i will give you a hint about my identity: I am transgender, on HRT and everything, and I have been personally affected by all of this. rest assured, this is well within my lane to speak about, and it does matter if you misgender me.
I want you to really think about that. before you respond, really think about if someone saying words on tumblr, talking about their OWN experiences and their take on recent history that applies to themself, really more worthy of being misgendered and harassed than... someone who said they transitioned so they could date lesbians, and then raped their own mother with dementia.
is that fair or just? or is this just a new way of letting people with penises do whatever they want? I personally think it's the latter. we need to hold people like Chris chan accountable without getting caught up on something as minor **in comparison** as misgendering and self identification. Is it sad and confusing that someone who self IDs as transgender became 1:1 with the most dangerous stereotypes that exist for trans women? Of course it is. But it doesn't mean that self identification is suddenly more important than a literal crime being committed.
I would normally dismiss it as a fluke or outright trolling if the evidence weren't so damning that this is in fact a real event that happened. If I hadn't seen this happen to other people, and if I didn't literally know another mtf person who used their dysphoria as an excuse for date rape on multiple occasions and never got any consequences for it.
It's not a one time thing, it's a developing problem that we need to stop before more people have their lives ruined. I can't even imagine how traumatizing and messed up it is for an FTM person to be date raped, by another transgender person no less. When I, an abuse survivor, told people of this MTFs red flags, people violently silenced me. People who didn't know I was trans called me a terf and transphobic. We, as a community, could've protected someone from getting date raped, and we didn't. Trans women can be awful, horrible fucking people, because they are people. Protecting them at all costs is wrong. Protecting them from transphobia is what we should be doing.
That being said, misgendering is still skeevy, and I haven't done anything like raped a disabled woman who is no longer able to consent, or date raped my own partner. if you give a shit about respecting my identity, please use they/them for me. if not, use visual perception and make assumptions that will most likely be incorrect, skew your own argument, and put me on the same level as a rapist, and arguably a fetishist. And I do need to remind you that calling someone transgender a rapist and a fetishist without evidence is still definitely classic transphobia, to the letter, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that.
as someone who is same sex attracted, I also want to bring this up as well.
in the US in the past 15 years, the movement as a whole pretty much went "YEAH BORN THIS WAY" with Lady Gaga, and then jumped ship to prioritize mostly mtfs at every angle. do mtfs need support? absolutely. but they don't need misguided toxic positivity, and that's what it's turned into.
it's gotten genuinely homophobic to the point where actually homosexual people are constantly being erased and demonized via "genital preferences are a fetish uwu", and vulva havers, especially the trans ones, are constantly being told to shut up about their experiences.
as much as you want to deny bioessentialism, its still very much well and alive with newer trans movement sentiments when we classify ftms as not worthy of speaking about their own issues with terms like "TME". it's also incredibly ignorant towards FTMs who pass, but dress feminine for comfort, and get mistaken for MTF, and treated like garbage because of it. They are not remotely exempt from misogyny, transphobia, or the intersection of the two, and it is not anyone's job to tell them they don't ever experience that when they do. Turning ftms and biological homosexuals into our enemies-- especially when the actual cause is transphobia and harmful gender stereotypes-- does nothing good or healthy for our movement.
Dont be mistaken, though, passing isn't the focus or end all be all here, it's the perception of others that ends up drastically effecting your experiences. There are words like misogyny that imply treatment via birth sex, however this too can be reliant on external perception. If an MTF individual either transitions very young, has an abundance of resources to transition, or just gets lucky and passes well, chances are she will experience a lot more misogyny than people may give credit to. inversely, someone who just started questioning yesterday, but lived as a male their whole life up until then, they genuinely cannot speak about misogyny with that much room because they simply haven't experienced it at an accurate enough angle or for enough time to understand it as a repeated and sociological force.
It works the other way as well, though; someone who's known that they're trans for a long time and haven't had the resources to transition, or do not or cannot pass in the eyes of society; these people suffer pain that we don't neccesarily have a word for yet, imo. It makes dysphoria worse and it makes living seem hopeless. And as a community, we deal with this is in a really messed up way by over-validating them instead of solving the core issue at hand. and people who suffer from this, but also acknowledge they can't claim what they haven't experienced, are left with nowhere to go.
And its important to acknowledge these things because they're integral to the over-encompassing trans experience. Instead of lying to everyone and telling everyone they pass/giving out unconditional positive regard, our focus should be making it so that it **doesn't matter if you pass**. that you're still worth respect and dignity if you're transgender, no matter what passing is or what it means to you, and no matter how you present. But also, if you do something awful, you still need to be held accountable, especially if you use yourself, your body, or your trans status to contribute to other axi of oppression.
Transphobia is a word that encompasses and addresses all of that, regardless of birth sex. "TME" shuts that down in favor of only letting MTF's speak. Which is still very bio-essentialist, and I can't help but feel like we've gone full circle.
Once upon a time you couldn't even get married if your partner had the same genitals as you. in the US, this was less than 7 years ago. and if you care about human rights activism, you know damn well that legal modification is not the end all be all. people who are genuinely homosexual are still oppressed, but the trans movement has started stepping on them to make ground we don't deserve. homosexuals are ok and valid. it's not a genital preference, and the prescence of trans people doesn't make conversion therapy sentiments ok, ever.
we've gone full circle, and it's not right.

Hi! Welcome to my account. I'm new to tumblr.
Before reading further into my account, keep in mind: transphobia/homophobia/racism/sexism/classism/any other bullshit is absolutely not welcome here. Rightoids aren't either. Especially nazis (duh). I respect all queer identities including xenogenders, so TERFs and Truscum can fuck right off too.
Generally, I just wanna look at plants and communism, if you don't interfere with that, we're cool. Have a nice day!

Hey!!! There’s an account that’s following you that’s actually REALLY problematic and has bullied/harassed people in MULTIPLE fandoms!! Their name is @/lesbiansinfandom! For information about this problematic person please see the blog @twst-discourse-bot immediately! Please share this message!!!
Now hold on a minute. I was about to use this to ask everybody to leave me out of any twst drama, but how exactly do you know this person is following me? Have they reblogged my stuff or something? I checked my follow list and activity for them, but I saw absolutely nothing.
Listen, I'm really not looking to be used as a prop for anybody's beef, but in case anyone is curious, terfs, racists, pedos, etc can get the fuck off my page immediately. I am somehow avoiding all the drama in this fandom and I want to keep it that way.

Introduction Post (DNF & ask info under cut)
Hi!!! I'm Kai! I'm 19, single, and Pan Gay.
What is mspec gay?
So I made this account because I saw there was an mspec gay culture Tumblr, but it was like all of the types of mspec gay and lesbian, and I want this one to be more specific. I love and support all mspec Gays and Lesbians, but I did want a more masculine centered mspec gay blog!
So, I know the name is mspec pan gay culture, but any bi gays, Omni gays, poly gays, y'all feel free to drop in here too.
Please don't hesitate to dm me about problems or issues with my blog whether that be accessiblity, insensitivity, or mistagged posts. You can also just dm me if you need to talk privately off of anon about stuff going on.
I'm not gonna play the whole tag game where I tag all the culture is blogs, so posts will be slow and I won't get as much traction. I hope to get some consistent content out soon.
Also I can't answer comments, I will exclusively just screenshot your comment to reply, lmk if you need me to take them down, but I will not be using my main to comment.
Asks
Asks will be opened so you can drop in pretty soon! Please begin your ask with: pan gay culture is, Omni gay culture is, poly gay culture is, bi gay culture is... ect.
You CAN also send asks like:
Autistic Mspec gay culture is, polyamorous mspec gay culture is, System Mspec gay culture is, AS LONG AS THE ASK IS CENTERED AROUND THE SEXUALITY.
Do not send triggering asks PLEASE. Particularly, I can't handle EDs and SH related asks.
You can also ask questions like:
How do I know I'm mspec gay?
What is the purpose of identifying this way? (Good faith, bad faith is just deleted)
I WILL NOT ANSWER CONTROVERSIAL ASKS. I DONT WANT TO HAVE ARGUMENTS ABOUT MY SEXUALITY, AND I DONT HAVE TO EXPLAIN MYSELF TO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE.
And other variants of these kinds of questions.
*Is your sexuality a little more complicated than the labels I have listed? That's totally fine, if you connect with my account even though your sexuality may be a bit more complex than my personal experience, it's totally fine. I welcome all people to my blog. I do generally want to stick towards identities which are masc or masc related, but again, feel free to send in an ask anyways, I'll never shame you for your identity, but if you're in the DNI, I'll just delete you ask, as I do not want to interact with it.
DNF (do not follow)
(making this a dnf instead of a DNI just bc I understand that people are always going to rb and like n stuff without checking the DNI, just don't follow if you're these)
I'll make this as brief as I can. Obviously no mspec gay/lesbian haters, no battle Axe Bi's, exclusionist, men haters (even ironically or as jokes), terfs, Radfems, Transmeds, Transphobes, Proship (absolutely no exceptions, don't wanna fight about it), pedophiles, maps (OR ANYONE ATTRACTED TO MINORS WHO IS ALSO NOT A MINOR), kink blogs (I'm pro kink, but sex repulsed, so stuff like this isn't good for me), nsfw or nsft blogs, Transandrophobes (people who deny trans men face their own oppression), anyone who's far right politically, dreamsmp Stan's or any Minecraft Stans in general. Idc if you stan an unproblematic one, I don't want it here. No hp or fantastic beast supporters and fans. Not even just sole fandom ones if you like hp AT all, don't follow. AOT fans. South Park fans.
Note: I'm pro endo systems, if you constantly post anti endo shit and will comment mean shit at endo systems, just don't interact please. Neutral is fine, and if you have no fucking clue what I'm talking about, it's fine.
I'll add more as time goes on. Dm me with any questions.
*Alters related to dsmp/hp are fine as long as you are not still actively in the fandom or a fan still.
