Today's fun fact since folks dont know
Ellen Klien is a self insert of a real life pedophile. She got made because he was BTD2’s top financial supporter and had close contact with EP. I knew the person she was based off of. There's a lot of info out about him now. Went by Lacy then. Dunno what he goes by now. He's still active in many communities.
More information, as well as proof of his abuse, can be found Here

Ellen Endings Masterpost
Here’s all the answers for the pretty blonde student down Jack’s path! Her path is a bit intense but not for a violent reason. She’s a psychology student, one of Jack’s, so you better prepare. She’s hot and cold and you can never really be sure what she’s going to do or how she’s going to react (unless you’ve played the game a lot obviously hahaha). Her path took a bit of work for me but it was fun!
The guides start right after you choose to go talk to Ellen, similar to Aria’s guides. I didn’t want to re-write the intro over and over for Jack’s section before we even get to Ellen, these are supposed to be for Ellen’s path after all! So for the sake of simplicity, start down Jack’s path, tell him “yes...” then decide to -follow him- when he goes to school and after the ‘talk’ -talk to her- and that’s right were we start the guides.
1. You struggled.
2. You were a bad dog.
3. Ellen let you go.
4. Ellen got what she wanted.
5. Ellen slit your throat.
6. Ellen mutilated you.
7. Ellen put you down.
8. Ellen likes petting you.

BTD/TDDUP:  Who’s the most dangerous human character?
There is a counterpart post to this for the supernatural BTD characters already posted here if you want to check that out :P
I love the human characters in the BTD/TDDUP series.  Probably a little more than the supernatural characters to be honest.  When it comes to who I think is the most dangerous in regards to the public/humanity, I had to put quite a bit of thought into this.  I don’t really have a ranking system for these, but the main things I thought about were body count, level of sadism, and physique/intellect.
I’m also going to be thinking about the difference here between who is actively the most dangerous vs. others who are potentially more dangerous.  But the real rating will be based on who’s “actively” more dangerous.
*major spoilers below*
I’m going to do this post from LEAST dangerous to MOST dangerous (opposite of my supernatural post because while the winner there was obvious, there is more to debate here I think).  Remember that these are only my personal opinion.  All decisions are up for debate.
7) Chris
I think it’s easy to explain why I have Chris at the bottom of the list.  He’s a sweet guy.  Unlike any other the other characters in these games, he was never looking to actively harm anyone.  He only snapped and seriously beat up one person.  And said person was HIS abuser so…yeah it’s even a little justified here (he just takes it a little too far).  There’s no indication either that Chris is quick to snap like this.  It’s implied that the MC and he were married for quite some time.  So he’s a rather gentle and timid guy who endured the abuse for a while.  If we’re talking “actively” most dangerous, Chris is the weakest here. If we were considering his potential to be a danger to society, he doesn’t really display any strong/consistent sadistic tendencies, or a high intellect to make him a common criminal or a mastermind of any kind.  I’ll give him this; he’s probably one of the physically strongest of the humans on this list.  I’d say the strongest physically here are probably Chris, Lawrence (if you still count him as human), and Marcus.  I don’t think his physique alone is enough to say he’d be a severe menace to society though.
6) Aria?
So we don’t learn a WHOLE lot about Aria.  She doesn’t look all that intimidating.  She doesn’t give me the impression that she sure works out enough to be able to take some of the guys on this list either.  But between her and Chris, Aria I’d say is capable of being a lot nastier. Chris has a right to be mad when he’s beating you down, but Aria seems SO much more vile when she tortures you. Yes, she has a right to be mad as well, but I always felt more uncomfortable with Aria torturing the MC. I found myself wondering if she took it too far.  I wrote a post long ago on Aria and my thoughts on her. There I go into more detail on why she makes me feel so uncomfortable (she’s actually the one character in the ENTIRE BTD/TDDUP series that made me have to take a break from the game for a bit).  But while she scares ME a whole lot, I have to put her lower on this list realistically.  Other than her sour relationship with the MC, I don’t really think she’s constantly tormenting other human beings in her spare time.  At least not as far as I’m concerned.  She’s an attorney for her main occupation, and very intelligent. So she’s definitely someone you don’t want to be on the opposing side at least.  So her “active” danger level is more that she’s likely cutthroat in the judicial system, but not really offing people on the side.  She does have a higher “potential” danger level though because not only COULD she possibly screw you over in the court of law to land you in jail…but apparently she has connections to HUMAN TRAFFICKERS. That.is.terrifying.
5) Marcus?
Those who have wandered around my blog tumblr for a bit know I ADORE Marcus.  I think he makes a fantastic villain and a complete jerk :P He is INCREDIBLY intimidating.  He’s got a strong build and police training under his belt, so good luck overtaking him.  My money is actually on him being the physically strongest on this list.  He IS the tallest, and has the muscle to fill out the space.  I think his training could beat out Lawrence’s build (which just comes from manual labor). Chris is the only one I think who could give Marcus a run for his money (depends on Chris’s boxing skills and how well Chris keeps in shape honestly).  And intellect?  He’s both a good actor out in public, and calculating enough to plan a kidnapping and permanent captivity situation for his ex.  Yikes!  While I don’t think Marcus is a complete sadist (compared to some other BTD/TDDUP characters), he DOES show some enjoyment in tormenting the MC too.  So then, why don’t I have him higher on this list? Well if this was a list for “potentially” most dangerous, Marcus would win.  Can you imagine if Marcus was a full blown serial killer while working as a cop?  He could cover his tracks REALLY well.  He probably does cover his tracks after kidnapping the MC (AND he killed John to avoid witnesses).  But the thing to remember here is that Marcus ISN’T usually an active murderer.  He’s got one murder and one kidnapping under his belt, but as far as we know that’s pretty much it.  He’s a good cop most of the time.  He spends most of his time putting criminals away, not being one himself. The MC just makes him crazy.  So “actively,” he’s not usually as dangerous as some of the other human characters.  He could be more dangerous I think if people try to intervene and take the MC away from him. Otherwise, he’s on the public’s side most of the time.  Like with Aria, probably will leave you alone unless you cross him.
4) Ellen?
So Ellen doesn’t have a strong build to make her impossible to fend off, and she doesn’t have any scary connections like Aria does.  Plus, she’s only a college student.  So why should I place her higher than people like Marcus or Aria? One word: Unstable.  Oh she’s an intelligent young woman who carries on a conversation just fine.  She has a lot of insight as well.  But she also: Is interested in getting closer to a person she KNOWS is a serial killer AND necrophiliac, experiences catharsis by seeing others in pain, kidnaps Jack’s spouse and treats them like her pet dog, and has quite a bit of interesting ways to kill you both accidentally and intentionally.  This type of behavior indicates she’s more likely to cause harm to others.  The only problem is I don’t know is she’s really…done a whole lot of damage to other people at this point in time.  She may be too young yet (her potential victim count simply hasn’t had a chance to climb yet).  If she was willing to help Jack with his work though, something tells me she’s on the wrong track.  Still, since I don’t know how often she’s gone out of her way to hurt others in her daily life, she could move up or down on this list in regards to “actively” dangerous.
3) Lawrence
So if you want to disregard the bit about Lawrence being rotted by the river and turning into a lich, Lawrence was indeed born a human.  You can take him out of this list otherwise (I have him also in the supernatural post to cover my bases).  Similar to Ellen, I’m placing Lawrence higher on this list because of how unstable he is. And unlike Ellen, we actually ARE given hints that the MC in BTD2 is not Lawrence’s first victim.  If you’ve read my supernatural post counterpart to this, you know what I have to say about Lawrence.  I’ll just cheat a little and grab from that post :P
“ He might freak out/snap at people more frequently that we realize.  When he is upset too, unfortunately it’s not just that he’s letting his frustration out on whoever is standing next to him.  Remember at the beginning of BTD2, how Lawrence got upset when Ren left?  MC left the bar first, and Lawrence followed them OUT with the intention of beating them up.  He’s dangerous.  And when he kidnaps you (cuz he freaked out that he’d get in trouble for hurting you)…it’s kind of implied this isn’t the first time he’s done this.  He’s not as big a sadist as the others, but sometimes he does take a little more enjoyment in cutting you up than he should if you’ve managed to send him over the edge.  Not an intellectual himself, and he’s a little difficult to reason with. His physique also makes it hard to overtake him (you have to kill him when he’s sleeping).”
So yes, unstable, physical threat, small hints of sadism, and bigger body count makes Lawrence a greater danger to society.
The REAL Debate:  Strade vs. Jack
If we’re talking “who’s the most dangerous to society”…of course the ones most ACTIVELY dangerous would be the serial killers.  The only question is, which one is MORE dangerous? This can be a little tricky to answer. The problem is we have one serial killer who’s very straightforward and we know EXACTLY how he operates (Strade), while we have another who we hardly know anything about his methods of killing (Jack).  Strade is openly charming and cheery, but takes extreme pleasure in tormenting and killing individuals he usually tricks/kidnaps from local bars.  Jack is more of an enigma:  You don’t know where he finds his victims, how he interacts with them, his method of killing them, and  how often he kills them.  We know that young Jack is pretty sadistic, but older Jack doesn’t appear to share that same level of sadism.  Jack’s a big mystery overall.  Both Strade and Jack seem to show no remorse in regards to what they do either. Physique, they’re…probably not too different strength wise to be honest.  I don’t know their exercise routines to be able to choose one properly over the other.  I’d say Jack is probably more intelligent (he at least shows his education more than Strade does).  But since we don’t know how Jack operates when he’s killing, I don’t know to what extent he utilizes his intellect as a serial killer.  For all we know, he could be a little more primal with his killings, and just uses his wits to cover his tracks.  Who has more kills by the way either?  Strade kills for a living, so he probably has a large body count considering that’s how he makes his money.  Jack on the other hand lets the corpses rot away for quite a while, so I don’t know how frequently he feels the need to replace them.  So how do I choose between the two of these killers then?  Well there’s something I almost forgot about: longevity.  We actually have CANON timelines for these guys.  Strade is age 34 in BTD, and in BTD2 Ren is 2 years old than in BTD.  I apologize if you haven’t played BTD2 yet but…Strade’s dead in BTD2.  Gato confirmed that eventually one of his victims became too much to handle (in fact I think even one of the death endings in BTD can be taken as the canon ending that leads to BTD2- MC dies, but they’re able to take Strade out with them). So the oldest Strade ever lived to be would have been 36 at most.  Jack in TDDUP is 50 years old.  Young Jack in the extra scene is 25 years old.  Electricpuke DID confirm that by that time at least, Jack had already killed. So he’s been a killer for a bare minimum of 25 years.  Strade, I don’t know when he started killing, but let’s say maybe age 18 at the youngest (is it 18 or 19 you can go drink in bars in Canada?)  So killing for 18 years possibly.  Maybe he started younger, who knows.  Even then, the numbers look pretty close.  Just no way to really know the body count comparison between the two. Now in TDDUP, depending on your head-canon preference, Jack either gets away (I always consider the “You are alone” ending the canon one myself), or MC does successfully kill Jack.  And really the only reason I think Jack gets killed is because the MC is his weakness.  Strade bit off more than he could chew with his chosen victim, and Jack got caught by the one person he lets his guard down with.
Overall, I think this is a very close race, and maybe should be judged by who YOU think is the kind of person you’d hate to come across more, and who you think has killed more.  For me, I think I’ll go…
2) Strade
1) Jack
Personally, I’d hate to be caught by Strade more I think, but I don’t know if Jack does any torture either.  I decided to base this more off of Jack’s ability to get away with what he does for so long.
This was fun!  Please do feel free to disagree though and even add your own thoughts.

murder boy game reviews, a very normal post by fen:
boyfriend to death: a classic. kinda janky by comparison to the sequel and i dont love the boys Quite as much but that part is down to personal preference. still definitely a very important murder boy game. im love strade
boyfriend to death 2: also a classic. improves on the original in basically every way unless you just happen to prefer the cast in the original. just More Content but also everything runs smoother, there’s so much music, cool bonuses, etc. probably still my favorite game on this list. law is my favorite boy on this list 100% im in love with a weird plant man
till death do us part: the cast doesn’t stand out for me as much as the btd games, but that’s probably a biased take seeing as ive played both btds like ten times and i only played tddup once. the game definitely does some interesting things (the different mc personalities are really interesting), i just don’t find it quite as memorable? but i still enjoyed it!!! its free what am i bitching about. ALSO THERE ARE MURDER GIRLS IN THIS ONE! THAT’S IMPORTANT ellen is best girl
don’t romance me: this one is weirdly more intense than the others to me, i guess maybe because it feels almost... realistic by comparison i guess? like the guy (i dont think he has a name. so im just calling him the guy.) feels like a real guy who could exist, which makes this one hit in a different way imo. its a good contrast to the others and each playthrough is really short so its fun to just try to figure out all the endings cause there are a Lot. but yeah go into this one prepared
john doe +: mmmm this one wasn’t for me. john doe just doesn’t really have any personality besides “is obsessed with you for some reason” and all routes are basically identical except for the very end being slightly different. and it takes a weirdly long time to get through for how short it is because it’s made in rpgmaker (i think?) rather than ren’py or something similar so theres no text skip. idk, just not my thing
lover’s trophy: i really wanna give the creators for this one a bunch of money so they can make a bigger game because both boys are Really interesting and i like them a lot, i just want... more? like there are quite a few endings but the game feels unfinished in some ways. there are some menu glitches, there aren’t many CGs, etc. i want mooooore but it’s quite good as it is and well worth checking out
the price of flesh: I BOUGHT IT BUT I HAVEN’T PLAYED IT YET DON’T TELL ME ANYTHING

Day 21: Eat
(prompt from trackpaddemon’s list)
ellen feeds you.
->contains gore, mouth trauma.
This is the quiet part in your quiet, perfect world, when nobody is home but you.
This is the part where you curl up in her bed because the sheets still smell like her. Soft, clean white and warm ecru. A strand of her hair still clinging to a pillow. A faint, lingering warmth. You feel the imprint of her body in the mattress and sink down into the same spot, and if you close your eyes she could be there with you, her arms could be around you and she could be resting her chin on your head.
This is your perfect world, small but immaculate, simple but elegant, soft blankets in softer pastels, dollhouse-perfect like a model diorama where everything is beautiful, shiny plastic all the time. Like that but better, because all of this is real.
When you hear the front door creaking open and the muffled thump of a book bag being tossed aside, your heart races because she’s home, she’s home and this is your favorite part. You untangle yourself from the sheets and trip over your own clumsy feet in your haste.
(too weak too dizzy too drugged to stand)
That’s how she finds you. That’s when the door opens and she’s there, she’s home, she’s coming towards you and it’s the best, it’s your favorite part.
“Were you in my bed again?” she scolds you, but playfully so you know she doesn’t mean it, her fingers carding through your hair. You lean into her touch, nuzzling your cheek against her leg. It was good, of course, every day is good in your perfect little dollhouse world. “Silly puppy. You missed me a lot, didn’t you?”
You did, you missed her so much, you hate it when she leaves but you know she has to do things. You tell her how you thought about her all day and she smiles this very small but very happy small smile.
“I missed you, too. I had such a long day, all I wanted to do was come home and see you,” she says. “Let me get you something to eat.”
Your smile falls, but just a little, just a tiny bit. This is the hard part but you don’t mind. Ellen looks so proud of you when you stay even when she stops petting you and stands up straight, even when she turns to leave.
You listen to the sounds of her in the kitchen, plates clinking and food crackling in a pan on the stove. You smell something savory and your mouth waters, but you stay where you are. You wait like a good dog.
(Every time she calls you that, your heart beats faster and your face fills with warmth and a pleased shiver runs down your spine, but you also feel this uncomfortable twisting in your gut, a sick feeling, a reminder of something you’ve already forgotten.
“Good dog,” she says, and you want to cuddle up beside her and you want to vomit and you don’t know what you want more.)
Ellen is humming when she comes back down the hall, softly, not quite on key, her footsteps so quiet you barely hear them. She sets a food bowl down on the floor in front of you, white and blue ceramic with your name painted on the side. There’s rice and vegetables inside, still steaming, the pleasant odor making your stomach clench tightly in hunger.
“I made this just for you,” she says, sitting on the floor next to you so she can watch. She always does. She likes seeing you appreciate her cooking
(likes the look on your face when you choke back pained noises).
You have to lie down to eat properly. She won’t give you a fork or spoon because those aren’t for dogs, and you aren’t supposed to eat with your hands. You’re okay with that. Ellen pets you when you do what you’re supposed to. You take a small, testing bite and your teeth scratch against shards of glass.
“Please eat,” you hear Ellen say above you, her hand suddenly much firmer, pushing down to hold your face near the bowl. “I need you to eat.” Her voice isn’t soft and sweet anymore. This is the hard part, when she has a bad day and needs you to help her fix it. You’ve gotten so much better at it than you used to be.
You take another bite, bigger this time. You try to chew carefully but you still scrape your tongue against a jagged edge somewhere in the mouthful. A tiny piece of glass wedges itself in the crevices of one of your molars and you make a muffled, choked sound, trying to sit up.
She doesn’t like that. Ellen’s hand grasps you by the back of the head, fingers tangling in your hair. She shoves you down into the bowl, smears rice on your cheeks and the tip of your nose. “I told you to eat,” she says, her voice starting to come shaky and nervous. “Don’t be bad now. You’ve been so, so good. Don’t you want to keep being good for me? Don’t you want to be—”
(no no please don’t say it now now)
“—a good dog?”
Your stomach lurches and your throat seizes up. You hyperventilate trying to keep yourself from throwing up. You do want that, more than anything. You want to be good (you want to vomit). The glass tastes like nothing but it’s hard and sharp and you can’t dislodge the shard wedged in your tooth out with just your tongue.
“Please,” Ellen says with all the gentleness she can muster, “eat the food,” and all you want is to make her happy, so you do.
There’s more glass the further down in the bowl you get until that’s all you’re eating, a dozen thin little shards dancing a sharp dance on your tongue, lodging themselves in the side of your mouth, between your teeth, in your gums, and then you can’t taste anything but blood. You swallow a needle-sharp tangle, heaving and shaking and fighting your own gag reflex telling you something is very, very wrong.
“Good,” Ellen urges, “a little more,” and if that’s all, then you can do it, you can do anything for her.
You eat a little more and you feel blood oozing out of your mouth whenever it opens, dribbling down your chin. You smell it, thick and cloying, all over the rice, but you chew and swallow anyway, you chew the shards into slivers until your teeth are aching and your gums are raw and there’s so much blood you don’t even remember what the food tasted like.
It’s not so bad, really, it’s not so bad. You swallow what feels like a pincushion and it drags on the lining of your throat all the way to your stomach.
“Good dog,” Ellen says, all the tension leaving her at once, and she lifts you up gently, takes you by the back of the neck like a puppy and makes you look at her. She wipes the corner of your mouth with her thumb and you see red smear over her fingers. “Oh, what a good dog. You’re the best. I feel so much more relaxed now.”
Your smile is full of blood and broken glass. Ellen kisses you chastely on the forehead and runs a hand through your hair, and you’re happy, you’re so happy,
(your stomach oh god you’re going to be sick why did you do that why did you eat fucking glass)
you nuzzle against her chest and she laughs and it’s the best sound in your perfect world.
“Oh, don’t cry,” she says softly. You didn’t know you were crying, but she touches your face and wipes your tears away. You don’t know why you’re doing it.
(it hurts it hurts so much are you going to die here are you going to die like this with a stomach full of glass how much more of this can you take how long can you keep this up)
She runs a hand over your back soothingly, rubbing between your shoulder blades. You want to stay just like this forever. You want every day for the rest of your life to be just like this. You think, elatedly, that it will be
(and you cry even harder).
“Hush,” Ellen soothes you, “it’s okay. Good dog.”
It helps a little. You love it. You love when she says that. You love her and you love the little world for just the two of you, and everything is absolutely
(a living fucking nightmare)
perfect.

I forget if you have played BTD games, but if so 👉👈 could they be added to the list
of course, I’ve played the first and second as well as TDDUP, so I’m familiar with the characters--I’ve done a fic for chris before, and i have lawrence and marcus on my list for may, so if you’d like someone else I’d be happy to do it. (I may pass on jack and ellen, though, since they weird me out a little bit.)

The fact I’m not surprised you know TDDUP
I’ve 100%-ed it, which is funny considering you literally could not pay me to finish any of the Puke-authored routes in BTD 1&2. I’ve tried writing about the games before, but I feel like I can’t get far into any piece about horror media without bringing up That Thing With Sam, and I dunno how much I can say about that that I didn’t already go over in my big Jonah essay. Usually I wouldn’t be bothered by repeating myself, but it’s a lot harder when I feel like I’ve already expressed an idea as well as I’m currently capable of (which is also why I’m having trouble with this luberto fic after “I was an island”).
Eh, maybe one day I’ll just write a simple fic about what happens after you come home from the “Ellen Let You Go”  ending. I have a lot of thoughts about how Jack’s love for you is directly proportional to how much you can endure.

Sooooo...TDDUP?
Played it. Got all the endings on all the characters. I was considering making an art dump with my thoughts but didn’t get the time so far.Went with Marcus first so the first thing I got out of that marriage was a divorce. The cat was a nice touch I was more invested in the wellbeing of that cat than my own or anyone else in the room getting stabbed.Probably enjoyed Ellen most followed by Aria then Chris if i had to pick favs.Though it did bother me a bit how much of an ass the game forced you to be to make everything there happen. But eh just my own immersion issues there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ellen Ending 8
Ellen’s low sanity ending. I actually like this one, she seems really gentle here, it was a nice touch. Although I can’t help but wonder what would happen after that... does Ellen really just keep you without Jack finding out?? Hmmmmm.....
You can’t help but notice how starstruck she looks, it’s too much for you to bear. You want, need, to hear her side of it. So you walk forward and get her attention. At first she’s startled by your approach but you easily see recognition in her eyes, she knows you. She doesn’t waste time, realizing that you saw everything; you accuse her of sleeping with Jack (black heart). That surprises her, and she admits that things must’ve looked bad from your perspective but that it’s just a misunderstanding… -say nothing- because it’s like she trying to find a suitable lie. Ellen can tell you’re upset and she understands, so she won’t try to make excuses or anything (we’ll see about that). Ellen admits that she wants to be honest with you- that’s a start! She introduces herself as a grad student and reveals that Jack keeps a photo of you at his desk. You counter with the fact that Jack has mentioned her before although you can’t help the harsh tone out of your voice and she stiffens. You try to clear things up, saying that you know she’s a student of his and that Jack’s called her bright. At first she’s flattered but she realizes that she’s being insensitive by the look on your face. Ellen says that she wanted to get to know Jack better and you ask her for details about what she mentioned earlier, ‘being a part of something’- just how many people are involved?? Ellen pauses, her sentence cutting off as she realizes something. Her demeanor changes and suddenly she’s saying that she has something that belongs to you and your stomach drops. Has Jack been giving away your items? To his lovers? You don’t recall anything that’s missing but she’s already going on, talking about how she doesn’t feel right keeping the ‘gift’. You tell hear you’d like to have it back; a part of you doesn’t want it back but you also want to know what he gave away… Plus you still have the conversation with Jack to think about… You follow her to her car as she apologizes but you’re only half-listening anyways. As she opens her car door, something shiny falls to the ground; you reach down to grab it and she slams the car door into your head. You hit the ground and feel nauseous, your head is split open and bleeding. Then a hand tangles in your hair and is slamming your head into the car again. This time you lose consciousness.
When you wake up, your head hurts and you’re in a bright room. You try to cover your eyes because the light is making your headache worse but you can’t move your hands. The more you try to move, the more you realize that you can’t and something metallic presses into your skin as you wiggle around. It’s about that time that you realize you’re naked. Ellen suddenly comes into view and looks so relieved to see you awake; looking around, you guess that you’re probably in her bedroom. You realize that the metal pressing against you is in a grid pattern… you’re in a cage and your head is sticking out of a hole cut into the door. Ellen tells you that she was worried because you were unconscious for awhile. Instead of replying, you question just what the hell is going on- why are you naked? Ellen tells you not to get upset, she wants to finish the conversation from earlier but you were getting a little worked up, and you’re also naked because dogs don’t need clothes. You don’t understand what’s going on but you do realize that she lied to you. She counters that it was only a lie of omission and those hardly count. Besides Jack’s been lying to you the same way for a long time. She doesn’t clarify what she means by that though and instead admits that this was impulsive so she had to work in a hurry to contain you. Hence why you’re tied up and stuffed into an animal cage. Ask her “Ellen, why?” and she praises you for asking the important questions (purple heart). She wants to get closer to Dr. Buchanan and before you can say anything, she glares and tells you that you’re wrong- Jack hasn’t been having an affair. He hasn’t been giving your stuff away either. Jack hasn’t slept with any of his students. At first you aren’t sure you can really believe her- she has you locked in a cage… but relief washes over you anyways. Ellen spoils your relief by saying that Jack is doing something distasteful and she’s truly surprised that you haven’t found out. She guesses that he’s protecting you; she also thinks you’re the key to understanding Jack and she will figure out more about him. She just wants to understand.
Well, this isn’t the right way to understand anyone! That pisses her off when you say that and she asks if you’re an expert! You certainly understand Jack and all his secrets right? You hang your head and she pushes the point home, saying there’s a whole side to him that you know nothing about. But for some reason, you’re important to Jack- that’s what she wants to understand. By studying you and learning about your history, despite your cluelessness, she’ll get answers. And she threatens that she’ll get what she wants whether you cooperate or not. But then she just changes the subject- she has to finish grading! There will be more talking when she’s done with that. Before she sits down, she grabs something and sets it in a doggy bowl in front of your face. A muffin. When you look up at her, she just shrugged and says that dog food is expensive .Well if those are your options, -eat- the muffin because you don’t want dog food anyways. It’s slightly humiliating to have to eat out of a dog bowl and the cage hinders you, but you manage to get close enough. As you eat you realize that Ellen is stroking your hair but it’s alright because at least the muffin is good. She even calls you a good dog as you eat and she sounds very affectionate. (dark blue heart)
(squick scene below, bug mention)
Suddenly you feel something moving in your mouth and you glance at the bowl- there are maggots in the bowl! They were coming out of the muffin omg gross! You immediately retch and spit out the muffin in your mouth. You can feel them wiggling in your mouth as you gag no matter how much you spit. Ellen is confused as to why you suddenly coughed up your food, do you not like the muffin? Really, you shouldn’t be picky since your food options are limited. You do your best to stop gagging and you accuse her of putting maggots in the muffin. She looks at you with concern… you look down at the bowl and tell her to look- you can see them squirming around still! Ellen looks at the bowl, moving bits of muffin with her finger… she has no reaction to the little bugs. All she says is that she must have hit you too hard, like you’re suffering from a concussion or something. She dumps the bowl into the trash and rinsing it out before asking if you have a headache. You are certain that you saw them so she brings over the trash can so you can get a second look. Nothing in there but the muffin, no maggots. Ellen wonders if she should go a little easier on you, she doesn’t want you to break just yet. You start to question it because you don’t taste anything odd but you saw them and you felt them in your mouth! Ellen tells you to relax and sits at her desk to do her grading.
Since she’s busy and leaving you alone, take a moment to -look around- the room. The angle is a little strange for you but you can still see enough, her bed, her desk. Everything is pretty tidy, which is surprising for a college student… and it makes it hard for you to grasp who she really is, there’s no big clues on her walls. You spot a jar up on her desk, with something moving at the bottom… hmmm -ask about the jar- because what does she have in there?! She glances at you impatiently and you gesture towards the jar with your chin. Crickets she tells you, she keeps crickets. At first you think she’s joking but you study to jar and now you can see how there’s more than one thing moving in there and how their small legs are tapping at the glass. She must not love them very much because it’s kinda rude to keep them in a jar and not a terrarium… but you don’t say that. Instead you just ask why she has them and all she says back is that everyone needs hobbies. Hmmm. You don’t say anything else and let Ellen get back to her grading.
Eventually Ellen starts muttering to herself, freaking out a bit. As she starts to pace the room, call out her name, hoping to calm her down. You don’t know much about her but it doesn’t seem good for you if she’s in a bad mood. Ellen says that she emailed Jack and made up an excuse for why she can’t meet with him and she can thinks he’s pissed. Your surprise gets the better of you, ask, “You cancelled on him?” and she admits that she panicked (light blue heart). She isn’t good at lying and he’s really good at reading people so if he asks about you, she’s screwed… She realizes that she never should’ve taken you and you seize the opportunity to say that she still has time to let you go. Ellen isn’t stupid though, she can’t trust that you won’t go to the cops or even tell Jack about where you really were. She says that she can deal with this all but first she needs your help to calm down.
(squick scene below, bug mention)
She turns to her desk and you can hear a familiar chirping noise… Ellen tells you that she isn’t a sadist or anything but seeing other people suffer makes her feel better. As she turns around to face you, you see that she’s holding one of her crickets with a pair of tweezers (is this really what she does with them??). She steps closer to you and tells you to be a good dog and stay still. As she crouches down, one hand comes up and pins your head to the floor. You squirm as she lowers the cricket to your face and you demand to know what she’s doing. Ellen actually pauses and tells you; she’s going to ask a few simple questions and she just wants you to answer honestly. Oh, and she’s going to put the cricket in your ear to help you along. You tell her not to, you’re uncomfortable with the thought of that. She just strokes your hair and tells you that the human mind is incredible and it can adapt to the most horrendous situation. Then the cricket is pressed against your cheek… it’s still alive, you can feel it moving. Ellen admits that she wants to ask you about Dr. Buchanan. As she slides the cricket closer to your ear she asks if you’re sexually intimate with each other. You aren’t comfortable answering her and you’re wondering what the ‘right’ answer might even be… but she takes the silence as an embarrassed yes and asks you how it is. Do you lead or just let him take control of everything? Then she asks if you can feel the maggots inside you or if he cleans himself off before he gets to you. Does he even enjoy the sex with you? Maybe it’s brief and lacks passion? Then she makes a comment that stands out, asking if you can see the marriage unraveling because he’s found something he likes to fuck more. You think that she’s just trying to get a reaction out of you, she hasn’t even given you time to answer. Besides, Jack isn’t like that, he wouldn’t find someone else just because the sex may or may not be the best. Ellen waits a moment but then slowly slides the cricket into your ear and you can feel its legs as it tries to stop itself. That’s when you lose it and start to struggle. Ellen pins you down with a knee, telling you to stay, like a good dog. You know she means business… The cricket gets pushed in deeper and it starts to struggle even more, trying to get free of the tweezers. You can hear and feel the buzzing inside your head as it moves around, it’s unbearably loud. It’s so loud that you don’t even hear Ellen for a moment but apparently she’s trying to talk to you. Then you realize that she’s squirming around, her hips moving just a bit. Since she still has her knee on your neck, you can see up her skirt… you start to question if she’s getting off on the whole thing because she’s breathing a little wonky. Ellen tells you that she doesn’t want to ask questions, now she just wants to talk and she wants you to listen. She admits that she fantasizes about Jack and as she says that, her hand trembles and the cricket harshly rubs against your ear canal. Ellen mentions that she knows he’s married and everything but she can’t help but think about Jack holding her down like this. The chirping in your ear gets louder and more painful. Do your best to -stay still- and let her do what she wants. It’s extremely unpleasant but you really don’t want to do anything to upset her. The cricket continues to move inside your ear but you stay as still as possible. She’s surprised at your self control and you’re surprised at the praise. Ellen says that she thought you were a little impulsive but it took a long time before you finally got desperate enough to follow Jack. You tell her that Jack’s entitled to his secrets. She goes quiet but pulls the cricket out of your ear; she’s starting to feel like she’s starting to understand. The cricket is still in the tweezers and she takes it back over to the desk. You breathe a sigh of relief, that ordeal is finally over.
Now that she’s all calmed down, Ellen leaves the room to go and make dinner, you can hear the food sizzling. The smell is making you hungry but you -don’t ask- for food because you can’t trust her, period. She’s making food for herself but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have food set aside for you to make you sick. She comes back into the room and eats her dinner before turning off the lights and getting ready for bed.  Before climbing into bed with a textbook, she tells you to get some rest, saying that you’ll need it. The thought makes you nervous but as you watch her studying, you can’t help but notice how she looks a lot like Jack… in her own little world. You settle down in the cage and do your best to get some sleep. An indeterminate amount of time later, Jack caresses you, rousing you from your sleep. You groan and tell him to leave you be but all you get in reply is a feminine giggle. You open your eyes and see Ellen, she was the one touching you. A bunch of things pop into your head at once- you’re not at home, someone has kidnapped you, and you can move again… kinda. You’re at least not trapped in the cage anymore. She managed to drag you out of it without waking you and now you’re on a pile of blankets. Ellen starts to apologize for flying off the handle the other day but after getting some rest, she’s ready to try things again. All you need to do is cooperate with her so she doesn’t get mad, because today is going to happen, there’s no getting out of it. And to start off the day, she’s giving you breakfast- another muffin in your dog bowl. You didn’t eat dinner so -eat- the muffin… she wanted you to cooperate and she did say it’s a new day… You take a small bite and eye the muffin, just to make sure there aren’t any maggots. Encouraged, you take a few big bites, enjoying the muffin. But suddenly there’s a sharp pain in your mouth, something sliced open your tongue. Then it’s moving towards the back of your throat and your mouth starts to fill with blood. Ellen asks what’s wrong as you start to heave, trying to breathe around the blood (green heart). You cough and feel sharp metal objects all over your mouth; you try to dislodge some with your tongue. When you spit into the bowl there is blood and razor blades. Ellen sees the blood and gasps, commenting that you’re sick. She’s trying to pretend that everything will be okay but you aren’t falling for her shit this time, it’s real, you know it is. You ask her why, not giving her a chance to deny that they are real. What had you done this time to warrant such a dangerous trick?! She just continues to pet you and comments that you’re such a trusting dog; Ellen kisses you on the cheek and comments that Jack probably likes how trusting you are. Next she leaves the room to clean out the bloody dog bowl. Everything hurts but now you’re certain that you didn’t hallucinate the maggots from yesterday. The bitch was just messing with you on purpose, trying to rile you up and confuse you. She was Jack’s student, it doesn’t surprise you that she’d use such tricks to break someone.
The next thing she says is that she wants you to stay still for her and then she’s pinning you down so she can inject you with something. You ask what was in the needle and she says that she nabbed it from Jack’s office, a paralytic that he was going to use on you. You don’t know what she means and she gets pissed at how dense you are… she lays it all on the table- Jack has been fucking corpses. That… that’s awful… is it true? Before you can say anything, Ellen explains that he’s also killing people, that’s how he keeps his supply fresh. Obviously. As she continues to explain, you feel your body go numb and eventually she notices that you aren’t struggling anymore. Ellen tells you that you have to accept the truth because she needs your help in understanding. You ask her why she’d want to understand him, if he does something so horrendous. Ellen is just surprised that you aren’t more curious. She moves you around as she please, taking one of your hands in hers after grabbing a knife. She presses it against your palm, asking if you love him. You tell her of course but things are getting tense, you notice the hysterical tone in her voice now… She suddenly stabs your hand… probably not believing what you said; you scream as the knife hits the bones in your hand. Apparently Jack emailed her again… he said to stop contacting him and that she should even transfer to another university. So this is her last chance, you have to give her something useful that she can use to win over Jack! When she moves the knife towards one of your fingers, tell her “This isn’t going to help you understand him” and she actually hesitates. Ellen admits that you’re right and she had been hoping to slowly antagonize you, get inside your head… but she doesn’t have time for that- she needs answers now. You obviously don’t know enough to help her and she needs Jack to accept her…
She brightens suddenly, running out of the room and into the kitchen. That’s probably not good for you…You hear her banging around, looking for something… and you’re scared of what she might find. When she comes back, she’s got a very large kitchen knife in her hand… apparently the small one wasn’t dangerous enough. She brings up an interesting topic, out of the blue- Jack has apparently talked to Ellen about murder… even encouraged her to try. She admits that she’d never done it before but he encouraged her because the only way to understand something is to do it for yourself. If she wants to understand Jack, she has to do what he does… she’s going to kill you and then have sexy times with your body. Joy! (zero sanity)
Ending 8: A shiver runs down your spine and you start to cry… you don’t want any of this, you want it to stop- why is she hurting you?! Ellen immediately backs off, giving you space and watching you. You’re sobbing and shaking but you still call out her name, because she’s the only one around to even attempt to comfort you. She steps up immediately, shushing you and telling you not to cry, being gentle with you. Carefully she wraps her arms around you, stroking your hair, saying that it’ll be okay. She realizes that she pushed you to the edge and that you can’t take any more. You don’t say anything, just snuggle against her because she’s warm and it’s nice to be held. Eventually you calm down a bit as she continues to pet you; she even asks if you like it. You nod your head, it’s nice when she runs her hands through your hair- you want her to like you because you want her to be nice to you. Like a good dog. Ellen is ecstatic and focuses on you, mentioning a collar. You smile because she’s happy. Survived- Ellen likes petting you.
