Reason #1,000,000,000 why we need a clone rebellion show. Let Echo fuck up a bunch of imperials. He deserves it. He’s been through so much. It would be so therapeutic for him. 😊

What happened to Echo between the Citadel and his rescue from Skako?
I started randomly thinking about this and it got stuck in my brain so now we're yapping about it.
The thing is, the initial assumption when watching the Bad Batch arc is that Echo has been kept in a stasis chamber with cables stuck in his head for a year(ish). But that doesn't actually make much sense when you think about it and because of that I don't think that that was the initial plan. So here's a vague outline of what I think was going on with Echo between S3 and S7.
Echo would have been found by the Separatists, and the fact that he was alive would have been of great interest to them because it means they could have a clone in their possession that they could try and use. Now the first few days/months (depending on the quality of healthcare) would have been spent waiting for Echo to recover enough. Following that, the Separatists would have likely tortured Echo in an attempt to get information out of him because, lets be honest, spending a load of money to extract information from his brain by hooking him up to a machine would not be the logical first step. That's the "oh fuck nothing is working" stage of planning.
And the thing is, whatever torture methods they likely put Echo through didn't do a whole lot because otherwise they would have been using the information they got from him a hell of a lot sooner. Echo probably spent who knows how long being tortured (and we've seen Andor. We know the shit the Empire does) and gave them nothing. Give that man some credit because wtf.
And then what? They have a clone (more specifically and ARC trooper) in their possession and they aren't going to let that opportunity go to waste so easily, so they devise a new plan. If they can't get anything out of him, then how else can they use him?
It's this bit that I think explains why Echo has so many prosthetics for a man being held in a container for months on end. If you have a prisoner you don't want escaping, why give him legs? That seems counterintuitive. And why give him a scomp? Honestly, I don't think the Separatists initially handed him over to the Techno Union for information extraction. I think they wanted to brainwash Echo into something that they could control, to turn him into a droid.
Look at the CX troopers. The Empire has taken clones to convert them into brainwashed agents and I wouldn't be surprised if Echo ended up being a test run for that. The fact that he has prosthetic limbs suggests that gave him to the TU with the promise of payment if they could turn him into something they could use. Who better to help fight against the GAR than someone who was trained by them and knows their fighting style?
However, that plan clearly didn't pan out either because when Rex and the Batch find him, he's hooked up to machines in a stasis chamber. What I think happened is that after weeks/months of Plan B not working out, the Separatists threatened to withhold payment from the TU unless they actually gave them something useful. And with nothing else working, I think the TU went to the only option they could really think of: to wire Echo into a machine and forcibly remove the information.
It explains the prosthetic limbs and it explains why it took so long for anyone to notice that the Separatists had Echo's strategies. I think they tried other things with him, and when that failed, went for the only option they had that actually worked.
Now that does raise the question of why Echo thinks he's still at the Citadel when they initially remove him. If he's spent several months conscious and being tortured/experimented on before being plugged in, then why does he not know that time has passed?
I think the answer is simply that he's disoriented. It probably took a second for his brain to catch up with where he was following the data extraction. And honestly, that would explain why Echo doesn't seem to be confused at any point following that when it comes to what period of time it is. There's no "wtf do you mean it's been a year?" moment, he just kind of falls back into things. I think it just took a couple of minutes for him to reorient himself before he was aware of where he was and what was happening. And to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there're periods of time that have been blocked from his memory as a trauma response. That would also explain why he only ever talks about Skako specifically and nothing else.
So yeah, that's my ramble on what I think happened to Echo. I truly don't think that the stasis chamber was the initial plan. It seems like a last resort following failed attempts at other things. Either way, I just wanna give Echo a hug because he's been through a lot. :')

Hi! I was wondering if you could do a TBB x Fem!Reader +any other clones of your choice, where they keep using pet names in mandoa like cyar'ika, mesh'la, and maybe even riduur?(because they might’ve gotten accidentally married? Love those tropes)
but the reader has no idea what they mean and that they’re pet names or that the batch likes her. Eventually she finds out of course and a bunch of stuttering cute confessions?
Your writing is so amazing and i literally can’t get enough of it! Xx
“Say It Again?”
TBB x Fem!Reader
You had gotten used to the way clones talked — the gruffness, the slang, the camaraderie. But ever since you’d been working more closely with Clone Force 99, you’d noticed something… different.
They used weird words around you. Words you didn’t hear other troopers saying.
Hunter always greeted you with a gentle “Cyar’ika,” accompanied by that intense little half-smile of his.
Wrecker would beam and shout, “Mesh’la! You came!” every time you entered a room — like you were some goddess descending from the stars.
Crosshair, as always, was smug and cool, throwing in a soft “Riduur…” under his breath when he thought you weren’t listening, though you never figured out what it meant. He often smirked when you looked confused, and somehow that made it worse.
Even Tech, who rarely used nicknames at all, had let slip a casual “You’re quite remarkable, mesh’la,” when you helped him debug his datapad. He didn’t look up, but you felt the heat in his voice.
And Echo? Sweet, dependable Echo — he was the least subtle of them all.
“You alright, cyar’ika?”
“You look tired, cyar’ika.”
“Get some rest, cyar’ika.”
You were starting to think “Cyar’ika” meant your actual name.
But something was off. The others never used those words with each other. Only with you.
So, naturally, you asked Rex.
And Rex choked on his caf.
“You—what did Crosshair call you?” he coughed, wiping his chin.
You repeated it: “Rid…uur? I think? I dunno. He said it real low.”
Rex gave you the slowest blink you’d ever seen and then rubbed the bridge of his nose.
“Riduur means… spouse. As in… wife. It’s what you call your partner.”
You froze. “What?!”
“And cyar’ika?” he continued, amused. “Sweetheart. Mesh’la is ‘beautiful.’ They’re… Mando’a pet names. Very affectionate.”
The blushing.
The flashbacks.
All those words… those looks… Tech calling you remarkable like it was a scientific fact, Crosshair smirking like he had secrets, Echo’s voice dropping a full octave every time he said cyar’ika…
You marched straight into the Havoc Marauder like a woman on a mission — and promptly forgot how to speak when all five of them looked up at you.
“…You okay, mesh’la?” Hunter asked gently.
You blinked. Your voice cracked. “…You’ve been calling me sweetheart?”
The room went dead silent.
Echo dropped his ration bar.
Wrecker panicked. “Wait—you didn’t know?”
Crosshair chuckled and leaned against the wall, arms crossed. “Told you she didn’t know.”
Tech frowned at him. “Statistically, the odds of her knowing were—”
“You called me your wife,” you said, pointing at Crosshair like he’d committed a war crime.
He shrugged. “Didn’t hear you complain.”
You stammered something completely unintelligible, covering your face with both hands, and Wrecker let out the loudest, happiest laugh you’d ever heard. “So… does that mean you like us back?”
You peeked through your fingers. “…Us?”
Hunter stepped forward slowly, rubbing the back of his neck. “We all… kinda do. Like you. A lot.”
You were red. Like, fruit-on-Ryloth red. “You’re telling me five elite clones have been flirting with me in another language this whole time?!”
“…Yes,” they all mumbled at once.
Crosshair grinned like he’d won a bet. “So… Riduur?”
“Riduur?” Crosshair repeated, lifting a brow like it was nothing. Like he hadn’t just dropped a romantic thermal detonator right in front of everyone.
You stared at him. At all of them.
Hunter’s quiet guilt. Echo’s embarrassed fidgeting. Wrecker’s hopeful puppy-dog smile. Tech’s analytical interest. And Crosshair’s smug little smirk that you really wanted to slap off his face… or maybe kiss.
You swallowed. “I—I need a second.”
And then promptly turned on your heel and walked right back out of the Marauder.
You spent the rest of the day spiraling.
Sweetheart. Beautiful. Wife.
They’d been calling you those for weeks. Months, maybe. You were out here thinking it was some fun cultural expression or inside joke you weren’t in on—and it turns out you were the joke. The target. Of five clone commandos’… affection?
It didn’t feel like a joke, though. It felt sincere. Soft. Safe.
And scary.
Because you liked them. All of them. Differently, but genuinely. The thought of them caring about you—of whispering pet names they grew up hearing in the most intimate, personal ways—made your chest ache in a way you didn’t know how to handle.
The next day, you avoided them.
The next day, they let you.
The third day, Hunter found you in the mess hall, sat beside you without a word, and handed you a steaming mug of caf.
You looked at him.
He didn’t speak right away. Then: “We’re sorry. If we made you uncomfortable.”
“I’m not uncomfortable,” you blurted out. “I just… didn’t know how to react. I’m still trying to figure it out.”
Hunter nodded, eyes kind. “We can stop. The nicknames, I mean.”
You hesitated. “No. I don’t want you to stop.”
He smiled, just a little. “You sure?”
You nodded. “I think I like them. I just… I want to know what they mean now.”
So, one by one, the boys showed you.
Wrecker said “mesh’la” every time you helped him carry heavy crates, with a goofy grin that made your stomach flip.
Echo said “cyar’ika” after every quiet conversation, letting the word linger like a promise he wasn’t ready to say aloud yet.
Tech, precise as always, began to offer direct translations.
“You look stunning today, mesh’la—objectively, of course.”
Crosshair didn’t stop with “riduur.” He started calling you “cyar’ika” too—softly, in rare unguarded moments—and he never looked away when he said it. Like he meant it. Like he knew what it was doing to you.
And Hunter? Hunter started saying “ner cyar’ika.” My sweetheart.
It wasn’t instant.
But slowly, their voices stopped making you flustered—and started making you feel home.
You started saying their names softer. Started touching their arms when you passed. Started blushing less… and smiling more.
And one day, while standing beside Wrecker during maintenance, you reached up on your toes, kissed his cheek, and whispered, “Thanks, cyare.”
He blinked. His whole face lit up like a nova. “You said it back!”
Later, you caught Echo outside the ship. Nervous, swaying slightly on his heels. You pressed your hand into his and whispered, “You can keep calling me cyar’ika, you know.”
He looked down at you with wide eyes. “You really don’t mind?”
You shook your head. “I like it.”
And Tech, when you repeated “mesh’la” with a teasing little lilt, glanced at you and—just this once—forgot what he was doing.
Even Crosshair dropped his toothpick when you looked him dead in the eye and whispered: “You keep calling me your riduur. What does that make you, then?”
He blinked. Once. Then smiled. Really smiled. “Yours.”
By the time you curled up beside Hunter one quiet night, your head on his shoulder and his hand tracing slow circles on your back, he murmured “ner cyar’ika” and you didn’t freeze or stammer.
You just smiled.
Because now you knew.
And you finally, finally understood that you’d never been the joke.
You’d always been the reason they smiled.

Okay I got so distracted and wrote just the tiniest bit of what might go in a larger fic someday but I needed to get the words out and so now you’re getting them because I can’t resist
Tagging @saturn-sends-hugs @phantom-of-the-501st because I think you may enjoy this bit of angst/fluff I’ve come up with.
Is this partially inspired by this post about Rex and Echo laughing themselves silly but also this post about what happened to Echo pre-S7? Yes. I couldn’t help myself.
Warnings: Echo has a bit of a panic attack then some silliness happens and he gets giggly.
Enjoy!
~~
Everything felt like it was on fire. Echo curled in on himself, trying and failing to understand why he couldn’t breathe anymore. All that had happened was a simple briefing, a mention of a prison, of people being held against their will, and now he was a mess.
A crumbled, sobbing mess.
He’d gone the one place he knew he felt safe without even thinking about it. Rex’s quarters were dim, quiet, isolated, and it took everything in him to press the code into the keypad before hitting the floor.
Rex had come looking for him, calling his name and trying to track him down, and like all those times before he’d found him. Curled in such a state it must’ve terrified him. Now embarrassment flared under the panic and he couldn’t dispel it even if he wanted to.
Rex tried to reach for him, hold him like he’d done times before when the world was too heavy and it all came crashing down, but his skin screamed no without his permission.
“Stop!” Echo croaked, feeling his voice give way, flinching before the contact could reach his skin. He didn’t know what he wanted but being touched wasn’t it. His body wouldn’t stop shaking, nothing made sense, and now Rex was sitting there half stunned, half hurt, hands held in the air in limbo. Great. Now he’d done it.
Echo put his hand to his chest, trying to calm his erratic breathing. This wasn’t fair. He was fine. He was so fine that this shouldn’t even be happening. He was stronger than this.
Then Rex stood and Echo’s world collapsed. He was pushing Rex away bit by bit and this was the last straw. This was what would make Rex walk away, leave him, know he was too much work.
Fuck, his chest hurt.
Air wouldn’t get through to his lungs quick enough, nothing worked, and now with the absence of Rex on his left he couldn’t reach out to him either.
Alone. All alone. No one. Nothing. All his fault-
“Here,” Something entered his vision and for a moment he didn’t know what it was, just that Rex was holding it out to him. He didn’t have time to actually reach for it before it was placed in his hand. Cool and smooth and… squishy? “Squeeze it.” Rex prompted. He was on his knees now, down in front of Echo and looking up like the world might implode. Echo squeezed it, feeling it give under his fingers.
Confusion dawned over his face, looking down to study the little squished up bantha in his hand. It had been given to Rex by Fives as a joke. A ‘gift’ from a mission that Rex hadn’t been on with them. Their first one as ARCs, actually. Its eyes bulged under the force of his fist, pink tongue sticking out. He could’ve sworn at one point it squeaked when you squished it so either he was misremembering or Rex used it enough that it had worn out.
It flooded his mind all at once. The toy clutched in his palm, Fives handing it to Rex and saying ‘it looks just like you’ as he squeezed it, Rex promising to make him pay for that comment. Echo thought about it and all at once the sour feeling in his chest mixed with something else entirely. Before he knew it laughter was bubbling up from his gut all the way until it burst out, light, trying to hold it back but failing.
Rex looked like he’d just been slapped, looking at Echo like his head had grown four sizes in a matter of seconds, which only made him laugh harder.
Tears that used to be from his terror were now squeezed out for an entirely different reason.
“I’m sorry, it’s just,” Echo forced out through a fit of giggles, and felt relieved to see Rex’s own mouth start to form a smile, as shocked as he was at the change of tone. Echo held up the bantha, relaxed his hand, then squeezed it again. “It looks just like you.”
Rex’s face fell from cautiously amused to absolutely exasperated in seconds forcing another renewed round of laughter.
“You’re such a bastard.” Rex complained but there was still a glint of mirth behind his eyes. The bantha was taken from him and Rex held it up, studying the little toy with some disdain. He peered at Echo then held it beside his head, squeezing it so it all puffed out again. It wouldn’t have been so funny if Rex didn’t try to mimic the expression, tongue stuck out and eyes wide, but it made another peel of laughter break free.
Funny, his chest felt less tight now.
“The resemblance is uncanny.” Echo mumbled from behind his hand, failing to stifle anymore tittering.
“Shut up.” Rex let his face fall back to normal then tossed the bantha back at Echo so it hit him in the chest, folding his arms for good and grumpy measure.

Fandom Friday, 04/25: Fanfiction!
Tumblr media
Hello and good morning to you all, and welcome once again to another Fandom Friday. As always, this is your host Coffeelorian or if you prefer, just plain Coffee, back with another round of fanfiction from around the vast fandom that is Star Wars.
Before we begin, however, I would like to say that I've changed the order of things around just a little for this, specifically by raising the amount of included links upwards from 10, as well as changing the format around to better fit the new limit AND hopefully increase user engagement besides. It's been feeling a little quiet around here, after all, so maybe this can be the first step to change it!
Second, a few little birds told me that today is the 20th anniversary of the release of "Revenge Of The Sith", so! If anybody sees me suddenly spam-reblogging all the posts I can find from that movie, it'll most likely be because I just watched it for the first time, and am catching up on pretty much everything.
Anyways...without further delay, here are my picks of the week.
Tumblr media

In conclusion, as part of my mission to poke around the Star Wars fandom and highlight those writers who might otherwise go unnoticed…I hope you will check out the links I have included for yourselves and like, comment on, and reblog them, as well as also giving the writers a few more followers to their Tumblr pages.
Please also like and reblog this latest installment so that these links can be spread around to as many other fans as possible, just in case not all of them can tune in at the same time.
An additional thank you goes to @djarrex for making the divider I used earlier in this post, but still want to give credit for.
If anybody likes what they see here AND would enjoy seeing more posts like this; please drop the rock star emoji (👩‍🎤) into the comments or reblogs, and I’ll be sure to tag you when the next update comes.
And finally, so that I do not forget…thank you to my friends, thank you to this fandom, and above all else, please stay safe out there.
