Sir Fitzroy Maplecout & Argonaut Keene:

they’ve survived traveling through Literal Hell together, they’ve spoken to god(s), they are magical besties with entwined futures, they are college roommates, their combined ego alone is enough to beat the competition

Optimus Prime & Ratchet:

They are millions of years old and have been close friends for several of those million. They have been through eons of war and losing their homeworld together. They have been refugees on a planet entirely opposite their own and have differences of opinion, but remain friends who know each other better than anyone. They have supported and healed each other through all their hardships and injuries. They have saved each others’ lives countless times. Their term of endearment is literally “Old Friend” and it is spoken often. They have saved two planets (said homeworld and Earth) with the help of their team. Their team is basically a family they co-parent, because they are both responsible and caring adults. Optimus is the leader and Ratchet is the healer, and together they have endured more trauma and loss imaginable, but still they stay strong for one another and to protect and save lives to the best of their abilities.

Note: This blog is run & followed by aromantics. Insisting any pairs are ~actually romantic~ will not only cause you to be blocked on the spot, but you’ll out yourself as someone not safe to be queer around. No one wants to hear how stupid you look with those shipping goggles on.

Thoughts after finishing taz graduation: I really liked it!

Going into it one of my friends who had listened to some of it had said he didn't really like it. He had said Travis had a good idea but it didn't really come to fruition, and I kinda see that but I think it was really strong in a lot of ways.

One of the biggest strengths imo is the characters. Amnesty had some amazing characters, Aubrey little was played so well and was such a rich character, duck newton was just fantastic in how he was written, and pets not get started on the man the myth the legend ned chicane. I feel like the graduation characters are really good in a different direction though.

Amnesty was such a realistic setting and so it's characters had to be realistic I'm change, but in graduation it's a fantasy highschool so they can do whatever the hell they want. The firbolg is so amazing, and you can tell Justin put a lot of work into doing his research and managing that difficult character while still being hilarious. Clints character was somewhat simple but was all the stronger for that. He had his revenge motivation and he ended up getting there (which I really respect of Travis), but his character changed throughout the course of the story to work better with people and became what felt like such good friends with the crew.

And then we can't forget Fitzroy. Fitzroy is I think one of my favorite characters in anything they have done so far. Griffin handled him amazingly and I have no notes, he is so enjoyable to listen to and hearing how his character changed was just beautiful. Also some actually fucking good ace rep is nice.

One sort of weak thing about it is the message. It has a strong idea and I like the message, but I feel like it wasn't pulled off as well as it could be. Throughout the story aside from a few moments we are mostly just told about hog and it isn't till the end that we understand more about it and why we shouldn't like it. For most of the story we know that hog is basically theater and also OSHA, checking to make sure that things are running well and no one is getting exploited while putting on shows for the people. If Travis had given us some more solid hey look how these people got fucked up because this system brands whoever it wants as good or bad and basically is capitalism, I would have been so much more on board.

Ending thoughts and tldr: I really loved the characters, they were all played so well. The message was good but could have used more work during the earlier parts.

Next I'm onto the Magnus protocol real quick for a pitstop because a friend threatened me, then I'm onto ethersea which I can't be more excited for. I'll keep anyone who follows updated :D

Sometimes I think I’m over my obsession with TAZ graduation but then I remember the whole plot line of there only being room for Chaos or Order within the world because they share a physical form and I loose it all over again

in the same episode we get Argo threatening to expose the Unbroken Chain if they even so much as think about laying a finger on Fitzroy, meanwhile Fitzroy and the Firbolg are deciding that they can’t trust Argo as far as they can throw him and electing to not clue him in to the mysterious and dangerous happenings they’ve encountered

OH MY GOD finally- I just listened to a bit of graduation yesterday and

REINEER?? oh my god. Sh e is s o hJot (and disabled rep!!! Oh my god, this podcasts only main npc physically disabled rep!)

and that scene where Argo is inducted into the Unbroken Chain and Travis talks about how his mother would let him catch the sun with her medallion when he was very little? Oh my god the imagery. I-

And THAT SCENE WHERE MASTER FIRBOLG FIRST SPEAKS WITH BREEZE THROUGH THE WILLOWS? I cried when I first heard that scene and it’s like, the first episode basically!

Ok now it’s time to talk about the soundtrack because the SOUNDTRACK SLAPS. it slaps SO HARD. The theme song? Breeze Through the Willows? The Apple? Mariah? Party with Festo?

OH MY GOD HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO MENTION FESTO? Because THEYRE awesome too!

I mean the Firbolg is so close to my heart. Honestly. I love his entire arc so much and a lot of his stuff just leaves me bawling. Not to mention he’s so quotable. I think for months me and my friends would quote to each other, “this is noble” and “this is a great shame”

Travis’s descriptions of shit are always so poetic and beautiful.

Fitzroy’s even asexual.

Graduation is literally so much fun and I love it, yeah its got its flaws but what doesn’t. Like bro I’ve listened to it twice and it’s just such a silly goofy time and I adore it

It’s such a whimsical world and the names of some of the NPC are so funny like fucking Higglemiss Wigginstaff (no clue if I spelled that right 😂)

The Commodore was such a piece of shit Travis did such a good job playing him I was literally cheering when Argo finally killed that bastard

The fucking dynamic between Prince Grey and the Thundermen???? Holy shit that was some of the funniest shit. When I tell you I absolutely LIVE for that exact dynamic I am not joking

FUCKING XORN XORN LIKE THIS SHIT IS HILARIOUS THEY TRIED TO SERVE A SUBPOENA TO A XORN AND SUCCEEDED

Literal gods were trying to start a war and their response WAS TO FUCKING DESTROY THE ECONOMY AND IT WORKED

Also like Chaos and Order were just fascinating to me??? Like dude- Chaos was so interesting and their dynamic intrigued me greatly. Also just the satisfaction of Order literally being dragged into hell!!!! And once again shout out to Grey for being the best character I fucking loved that man 😂

Also like Argo is such a fascinating character to me, Clint always manages to have the most interesting characters.

I keep thinking about the goon /Hench adoption agency post but it's Argo who got dumped their by the Commodore after he killed Shebrie

And like he can't get adopted out to work because he hasn't been trained in any sort of official capacity as a Hench and who would take that risk with the way the system is in Nua

But there's also the problem of he has a very specific set of skills meant for the sea and ya he's got some rogue talents but they're very lacking untill he gets proper training

No hero or villain in their right mind would take such a costly risk for what is most likely a unhelpful Hench

And just the shenanigans he would get up to trying to get work/ escape also the workers trying desperately to give him proper enrichment

I have never wanted a taz season to end less than graduation. I was left absolutely begging for more. It's a warm hug, it's plot twists eight times a minute, it's edge of your seat cheering, it's turning your enemies to friends, it's family, it's grief, it's joy. It's ordinary people who only wanted to run a profitable business seeing the world about to be destroyed by apathy and a bored god and chosing to stand in the way, as unprepared as they are.

Okay so hear me out. Steeplechase is set after Balance ends and Dentonic is monetizing the events of the Balance campaign. Then it's revealed that hardlight uses the same magic system from Ethersea, and this segues into the Ethersea campaign.
