so frustrating to me when people say sasuke needs to get put in his place… he spends the entire first part of the series getting the shit kicked out of him. by haku, rock lee, orochimaru, gaara, and itachi. even after vote1 we see him constantly struggle. he kills orochimaru pretty quick but his fights with deidara, itachi, killer bee, danzo and naruto almost kill him each time. he spends the entire series in and out of the hospital and sickbeds.

the whole point of sasuke’s character is that despite being very talented and naruto looking up to him, sasuke sees himself as the weak vulnerable little boy he was when itachi left. that’s why he wants so desperately to be powerful and not rely on others. so no one can hurt him like that again.

if you think he needed to be knocked down a peg with physical violence then you didn’t understand the point of his character at all… sorry to say it but you fell for his facade !

sasuke uchiha

Sasuke, usually distant and distrustful of other people's emotions, would have a somewhat neutral reaction on the surface, but with a slight hint of internal confusion. As someone who keeps his feelings under control, the fact that the person he likes is a girl would not radically change his feelings. However, he would probably feel a mix of surprise and frustration for not having realized it sooner. At first, he might think he was tricked or that, somehow, something about their relationship had been a lie, but those thoughts would fade quickly.

"It doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl... Why didn't you tell me from the beginning?" he asked, his expression serious but curious.

Neji has a serious personality, but he is also very aware of the importance of fate and the destiny of the people in his life. Upon learning that the person he likes is a girl, he might feel a little taken aback at first, as the deceptive nature of the situation challenges his sense of control and rigid perspective on the rules. However, once he reflects on it, he would feel ashamed that he hadn’t noticed it before. This wouldn’t change how he feels about her, but the initial shock could be significant.

“I never imagined that someone could hide something like that…” he said with a serious look. 'But that doesn’t change how I feel', he thought to himself.

gaara of the sand

Gaara, who has a somewhat gloomy worldview and is extremely introspective, would likely be the most surprised, as he has never had a deep connection with others. The idea that the person he likes has been pretending to be a boy might make him feel even more isolated or confused, but he wouldn't take it personally. After all, the emotions of others have always been a mystery to him. However, upon discovering the truth, he would probably feel a sense of relief and happiness, because, in his heart, his affection for that person wouldn't change, and he would also learn something more about her.

"Why lie? But... it doesn't matter. It's you, in the end." He said with a soft and slightly more relaxed expression—something he doesn't often show.

naruto uzumaki

Naruto, always a bit clumsy and emotionally honest!, would likely have a reaction ranging from total surprise to shock. Although he might initially feel a bit offended by the lie (feeling deceived), his love and affection for that person would not change. He might make embarrassing comments or joke about it to ease the tension, but deep down, the important thing is that what he feels for her is genuine. In the end, he would probably be happier to know the truth and would continue to have feelings for her.

"Eh?! Wait, really?! That means that...! I like you because you're pretty, not because you're... uh, a boy?" he exclaimed. When he realized what he had said, he smiled with some embarrassment and scratched his head.

rock lee

Rock Lee, a pure-hearted guy, would be greatly surprised, but he would likely feel even more excited to realize that his feelings are reciprocated. He might be a little confused at first, as the idea of his crush posing as a boy would challenge his view of sincerity and honor. However, after the initial shock, Lee would probably embrace the situation with positivity and determination. Being an incurable optimist, the revelation would make him see things in an even grander light.

"The true essence of love is not seen with the eyes, but with the heart! No matter if you're a girl or a boy, I love you just the way you are!" he exclaimed with a bright smile and raised fists in excitement.

Itachi, who has lived with so many secrets and regrets, would have a more controlled and observant reaction. His analytical mind would likely lead him to believe there were reasons for keeping the real you hidden, and the first thing he would do is try to understand why that person felt the need to hide their identity. His reaction would be calm and thoughtful, not showing much surprise. Given his calmer and more mature nature, he would not be upset by the revelation at all. Instead, he would likely see this moment as an opportunity to deepen his understanding of the person he cares (and that he loves) for.

"I understand. There are many reasons why someone would hides their identity. It doesn't bother me", he said with a deep calm, his gaze still as penetrating as always.

Kakashi and Yamato Highlights from Naruto Retsuden:

Sasuke's narration putting Yamato being Kakashi's “partner” in quotation marks like it's a euphemism!!

Kakashi going into his interactions with Yamato with teasing about what an excellent ninja he is but also very genuinely reflecting on how powerful, humble and steadfast he is.

Yamato saying, “And there you go again,” suggesting Kakashi complimenting him is a frequent thing, and then telling Kakashi that since he's older he's not susceptible to flattery anymore but immediately smiling anyway and the narration saying he's happy to receive the compliments.

Kakashi immediately identifying how Yamato feels when their first combined jutsu doesn't work as intended: “You’re worried. I am too,” Kakashi said in a light tone, perhaps guessing at Yamato’s anxiety.

The implication from Sakura that Kakashi and Yamato will be late to the mission because they are taking a group nap from training too hard: “I guess they were up all night practicing. Said they used all their chakra and their energy, so they were dead asleep until just a little bit ago.”

The little stretches they do together after the group nap: Kakashi and Yamato had also arrived, but they looked sleepy, like they had just woken up. They were putting their backs together, pulling on each other’s arms, doing stretches.

Naruto's complete faith that his teachers will fix everything, even as a full-grown man, amidst a hailstorm while they're thousands of feet in the air. “No, we’ll be okay,” Naruto said to the Uchiha couple in front of and behind him. “Master Kakashi and Commander Yamato said they would handle it! I’m sure those two can make it work somehow.”

Yamato grinning at how he and Gaara both describe Kakashi and Naruto respectively with “As reckless as ever.”

“Shut up, forehead.” Kankuro grumbles . Lee snorts in laughter before he can stop himself, “Sorry, are you referring to the kanji?”  “No, I’m referring to his gigantic forehead. Cranium so huge it killed our mom.”  Lee gasps, “That is too far!”

Gaara looks at him in concern, “You know my forehead is not actually responsible for my mothers death right?”  Lee raises his eyebrows in offense, “NO but it is still rude to insinuate that about such a sensitive situation!”  Gaara nods, still confused about what the problem is, “Kankuro only jokes about sensitive situations.”  “Sorry, Bowlcut. I don’t know how to process it any other way. It’s how I cope.” Gaara recognizes that Kankuro’s being a shithead when he says this. He turns to Gaara. “I did not lie about your big forehead, though.”  “What is that meant to mean?!” Lee is fuming. About forehead jokes.  Gaara finds the absurdity of it amusing, “I do have a big forehead, Lee. It’s okay.”  “What? No, Gaara, your forehead fits your face perfectly!”  “It’s okay if you’re into big domes, Bowlcut, you can just say that.”  “Big what?!”  Gaara can't resist huffing out a laugh at the exchange. Somehow he's a little bit flattered that Lee might actually like his forehead, which feels ridiculous.  Kankuro is not done instigating, though, and watching someone else be the subject of it was notably more fun.

“Weren’t you into that pink haired medinin? She’s got a famously big forehead too, y’know..” Kankuro makes a point to look overly thoughtful as if he's made some big revelation. Lee sputters and Gaara is sure there's steam coming out of his ears, “I-I am not some sort of forehead fetishist!”  Kankuro grins victoriously at the reaction, “I don't know, man, I think I’m connecting some dots here.”  Gaara starts giggling. He can't help it seeing Kankuro getting such a rise out of Lee.

Gaara proceeds to get really in his feels about his most precious people bantering and getting along

I love that post about Gaara setting up a dinner and poetry for Naruto just to be outdone by Sasuke’s bare minimum and then making a reddit post about it because I can imagine it:

I (18M) have been in love with this dear friend (18M) of mine for quite some time. We have some history; when we were fourteen I wasn't in the best headspace mentally (daddy issues) and he really helped me get out of that dark place. I have liked him since then, though admittedly it used to be a shallow crush, it has only developed into genuine love. Despite caring for me, my friend (let's call him Nicky) has been obsessed with his other friend (18M, let's call him Asshole) for the longest time. Asshole does not deserve his affection or attention at all. He left Nicky and the town altogether to join a terrorist group (that's right!) and Nicky has been bending over backwards to bring him back and make it right between them. He has never given up on Asshole, despite everyone around him (and me!) advising him to, and eventually brought him back. Nicky turned 18 recently and I went all the way, made him a nice dinner and even composed some poetry to accompany the meal; it was all going well and I had even worked up the courage to confess my feelings until Asshole showed up and you know what he did? Gave him a stupid frog wallet. He looked completely disinterested and even asked if frogs were still his thing! (They are but I know because I pay ATTENTION to him!) and after that Nicky lit up and completely lost any interest in everything I had done, he could only fawn over Asshole. What did I do wrong? Why do stupid inconsiderate Chads get all the attention?

Overly Analytical Horny Rambling Abound

First! I think Naruto is the type to low key have a crush on all his friends and openly hit on them in a jokey jokey "Unless?..👀" kinda way.

And I know Nart is a bit naive but I think he def picked up a lot of info from hanging around Jiraiya so I think his conceptions of casual sex and monogamy would be pretty chill. So he's pervy but much more consensual and healthy about it, mans loves to communicate even if he can be a shithead about it. Also, he canonically gets a lot of opportunities to get around, (and there's that one movie where he straight up agrees to a proposition to give a priestess an heir???)

I also think Hinata is big voyeuristic like I think she's got a sense of curiosity about it, in general she likes observing people's differences and idiosyncrasies so when it comes to horny behavior I think it's an easy slippery slope and it goes with her kinda shy nature idk freak rights for hinata (i love her dearly)

Then there's Gaara and Lee who are always all over each other and sneaking off to fool around, esp at like party/club settings which is not A Lot but enough for Naruto to see sometimes and give them shit about it, but mostly he's "hmm hot lol if you guys are ever lookin for a third or somethin" *winkwink*

I only really have one part solidified in my brain. Basically Nart walks in on a partially obscured Gaalee and he's like "oop well don't stop on my account."

Oh but gaalee are super possessive of each other no way, except that's kind of the appealing part for them! Lee kinda likes the idea of showing off what's his and the affect he has on Gaara and Gaara is not easily embrassed but for some reason the idea of being seen indisposed with Lee makes him feel very embarrassed (humiliation kink activated)

Anyway it'd cover a couple different once in awhile encounters with lots of trust building and healthy dom/sub dynamics etc etc

I unfortunately do not have a snippet for this because I get too embarrassed whenever I take an actual crack at it my smut game is intermediate at best these days 🫣🫣
