I want to know more about your thoughts re: Judge and what he said about Sanji at the end of WCI, if that's something you're down to share?

anon when i tell you at judge's words, my first reaction was like

Ok anyway, i have a lot to say about it. Vinsmoke Judge is so wrapped up in the illusion of what success should look like that he is completely blind to the amazing person his child actually has become. Some parents want their kids to be a certain way SO BAD that they completely miss the fact that their kid turned out something even better than what they're hoping for. Sanji is actually a dream as a kid, his whole essence is raw devotion. He doesn't just love people,he worships them. He was so devoted to zeff, that he was ready to give up on his dreams of the All blue and work at the baratie for the rest of his life. He was so devoted to luffy he was ready to die for him in thriller bark. What im saying is that if only judge ever opened his mind to sanji and got over his definition of what type of success he wants for his children (being an emotionless killing machine in this case) he would see that he was blessed with the kindest purest kid that would love him with all his heart and soul.

And really maybe sanji and judge are an extreme representation of it, but this toxic parent-kid dynamic is actually very common in our society if you really think about it and that honestly breaks my heart so much.

Luffy in alabasta was at his cuntiest and bravest like he befriended a princess, took down a warlord with extreme nicotine addiction and recruited said warlord's 28 y/o international terrorist cuntenserven colleague no gears no money no bitches no special technique just a pair of sandals and audacity

Why I think Luffy saved sanji in whole cake, not just physically but in every sense of the word :

Firstly, this parallel between Luffy and Sora was extremely significant for sanji

sanji knew that food is one of the most important thing in the captain's life but Luffy was willing to forego that, jeopardize his own life and eat spoiled food for him, even when sanji was at his worst during this period. Luffy gave him the grace and consideration that sanji always gave to others but rarely got it reciprocated throughout his life. Sanji who always thought he was undeserving of love, was showed that he deserved it even when he was being difficult, and even when he wasn't seeing eye to eye with his friend. Luffy is generally not a perceptive person but he understood sanji in a time when he was at the rock bottom and everything in the world was going against him.

Again, this difference between how Luffy and Judge sees sanji : where in Judge's eyes, sanji was worthless because of his soft heart, Luffy accepted and valued him for everything he was : kindhearted and easily moved by people's pain.

Luffy loves and accepts sanji on such a genuine level that when judge was pointing out the reasons of sanji being weak, Luffy couldn't even grasp it. To Luffy, sanji being weak/a burden is so beyond comprehension that he simply didnt get it. And it's so funny to see the startle in sanji's face when Luffy verbalizes his stance on sanji's supposed weakness.

reiju helped him escape the prison but Luffy is the one who broke down the iron bars of the mind-prison sanji was in and mended his wounds left by the vinsmokes and the absence of sora. Maybe that's why when they make up and the first rays of the sun shines upon Lusan, it felt like a metaphor that the stormy days were finally over for sanji

I am not very happy with the one piece fan letter (because of how they erased sanji) but I absolutely loved the segment about nami. Nami not possessing brute strength or devil fruit powers is actually one of the things that makes her so impactful because she built herself up with sheer determination alone. And nami inspiring this little girl (and us) that despite being ordinary and having the shorter end of the stick in this unfair world that is so dominated by power, we can still build a beautiful life for ourselves and can go on our own little adventures.

Meanwhile I love how the Luffy segment is about hope and human connection. The marine soldier talks about how every little action taken by someone else has had such profound and long lasting impact on his life. Therefore he also thinks that despite him being weak, imperfect and unsuccessful if he keeps on living then maybe someday his words can become that hope for someone else. It's such a beautiful thought about human life and connections.

being a sanji fan is an intense experience because it takes you like 200 episodes to finally understand why sanji's eyes turned lifeless for a flickering moment at those words

this is exactly on point, Sanji is a very perceptive person in general but when it comes to women he understands the nuances extremely well. This is also seen during his confrontation with viola in dressrosa when sanji took one look at viola and immediately understood that she was uncomfortable and was working for doffy against her will. Even though she was an enemy and laid a trap for him to manipulate the soft spot he has for women, sanji did not get angry/vindictive (he was bleeding on the ground from the beating he received cz of viola's gang) and he could tell that her tears and discomfort were very much real. Sanji just understands when it comes to women. He is affectionate and protective towards women that's why even with his obsessive delulu gags around women, i can never bring myself to dislike/hate him ever, he's a feminist whether ppl accept it or not.

Sanji supports women's rights but more importantly, he supports women's WRONGS
