"The tension" girl that's just how cooks act. We all act like we're gonna fuck but obviously we can't bc we work together but we WILL do everything except that. Would we be perfect as a couple? Yeah probably. Unfortunately dinner service must Go On and we can't focus on anything but how far behind pantry is on closing.
But tbh the type of relationships that come out of kitchens are so intense and close but so completely devoid of any romantic experiences because truly we see one another at our absolute worst and our absolute best and the closest well get is having a shifter and joking about how terrible that service went. Ever cook is immediately bonded by how terribly we're treated and how awful we feel all the time and how great it feels to be out of the kitchen after closing is done and the floors are scrubbed and the salamander is finally cleaned out after putting it off for so long. Every man I've dated who isn't in the industry is IMMEDIATELY and IMMENSELY jealous of the relationships I have with the men in the kitchen bc they all think we want to fuck, but truly they are like brothers to me.
It's so poetic to watch as someone in that type of dynamic and to see people not in the industry pine so desperately for romantic relationships makes me LAUGH. I'm sorry but we're all too damaged for that bestie. No one in this industry is in it because we're capable of healthy relationships. Neways. Sorry. We're all just whores by design and we love the idea of being sluts but we're all too exhausted for it. The closest to romantic we get is bumming a cig after service in the alleyway.
“we’re all sluts but we’re too exhausted” made me giggle ngl. um strap in, this got long
i don’t think sydney wants to be a slut. there’s really nothing in her character to indicate that.
i also think the narrative was setting up romantic connotations because it drew an obvious parallel btwn syd & the restaurant as the two/one thing(s) most important in carmy’s life. when carmy’s getting distracted by claire, syd is inbetween every shot of them, whether sydney is at the restaurant or by herself, or by herself doing stuff for the restaurant—
and even down to the way claire represents carmy’s past and is painted narratively in strict contention/competition with syd for carmy’s time & attention! the first time we see that girl, she clearly still thinks the restaurant is named the bear (a clear indication of her place in his past, & the adjustments & commitment tht wld be necessary to make her part of his present/future)
and especially the table scene—when sydney says she isn’t jealous, it’s not really hard to believe that she was lying: we’ve already seen that she doesn’t always say what she means, i.e. with marcus: she’s clearly still feeling awkward w him after he tried to ask her out, but tries to overcome it bc the beef comes first!
like you’re saying men you know are jealous of the relationships u have w ur coworkers—marcus is right on the edge of being jealous about sydney’s devotion to carmy. it’s not necessarily explicitly written that way, but it’s also not super duper far fetched.
but anyways, the romance itself isn’t even hidden forreal. carmen tells this girl—who is devoted to his cause, his family restaurant and all the burdens it carries—“you deserve all my attention, all my time. i can’t do this without you—i wouldn’t even want to. i’m sorry.”
in every other context ever, and on paper—that’s a fucking love confession!
and the way he says he wouldn’t even want to; carmy has such a complex relationship with the art and technicality of cooking, and i think syd really reminds him that it’s something he’s meant to enjoy. it’s something that he does genuinely enjoy, even if he has to dig past the pools of sorrow & resentment that live in him to do. especially because there’s all that sorrow & resentment in him; he has to learn to enjoy not just cooking, but his own day to day life.
like people come damaged. and before they really get into the romance, i’d love for carmy to have some amazing character development! (we’re calling them a slow burn for a reason.) but even the way syd deals with him now is very romantic. bc it’s not necessarily her dealing with him; it’s a partnership. this guy (carmen) goes and buys syd a $2k chef’s uniform that’s pristine and pretty and makes her look even more angelic than she did before—he knows her size and everything?? the guy from pretty woman did that shit and it’s regarded as one of the best romance movies of all time.
not to even mention the panic attack. the stiles/lydia memories hit me like a fucking truck & i loved every second of it.
also! it’s kind of interesting how carmy thinks of claire in these romantic pictures, she herself is never really doing or saying anything; she’s just there (besides maybe her hair blowing in the wind). meanwhile, carmy thinks of syd in memories, in dialogue, in action. he thinks back to the beginning of her, when she first enters his life like a ray of sunshine, and i think that’s a way to acknowledge the way she’s added so much to his life in such a short amount of time. sydney is his rock! she keeps him grounded in a way not even this girl he’s been obsessed with (supposedly) for years can.
anyways, the narrative analysis aside—they look cute together, they act cute together, & i’ve seen romances built on far less than what seasons 1 and 2 have already propped up between/for them :3

ADELAIDE 2024
I have just returned from a trip to Adelaide. You may have noticed my recent name change to "Seeing The Island And Beyond". I explained here on my Instagram that while I intended this blog to only be about my travels outside of Australia, I have since decided to include trips I make around Australia on the blog as I do not travel overseas enough to have continuous content.
Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, I went in May which is Winter here in Australia. Adelaide and all of South Australia gets freezing cold winters.
DAY ONE Date: 20/5/2024 Weather: Day: 18 Degrees Night: 12 Degrees Itinerary: Arrive In Adelaide Check Into Hotel - Adina Apartments Luigi's Delicatessan Rundle Mall Alba Hotel
The trip start at Sydney Domestic Airport on the 20th of May, my Mother and I flew from Sydney to Adelaide via Jetstar. The flight to Adelaide was 2 hours.
The last two trips I took were Singapore and Uluru, both very hot places. When I stepped off the plane in both Singapore and Uluru, I was immediately greeted with the extreme heat. This time however was very different, instead of intense heat, when I stepped off the plane I noticed a biting cold as May is Winter in Australia and South Australia gets freezing in Winter. After getting our luggage, we got a cab to the hotel we were staying at Adina Apartments, a beautiful hotel situated in an old treasury building.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were checked in by a wonderful lady named Natalie, Natalie actually took the time to give Mum and I a print out of a map of Adelaide and explain to us exactly where all of the main attractions were located and directions on how to get to them. She also gave us a list of all of the best places to eat in Adelaide. We were both very impressed with the wonderful service Natalie provided us.
After check in, Mum and I went to one of the restaurants on Natalie's list Luigi's Delicatessan. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who explained the menu to us (there is no menu at Luigi's, instead the wait staff explain the menu to you, something they call a "talking menu") We ordered two pasta dishes, orichette with pesto, peas and brocollini and gnocchi with napoletana. The two pasta dishes were out of this world delicious!!!! they came out on a beautiful big board with a basket of house made bread, Mum and I wanted to lick the bowl it was so good AND the portion sizes were so big we had enough to take home to the apartment with us.
Lunch At Luigi's Delicatessan
After lunch, Mum and I went for a stroll through Rundle Mall, I want to mention that Adelaide is a very easy city to get around because unlike Sydney where I'm from, the city of Adelaide was planned in advance and built in a square so all of the major attractions and restaurants are within walking distance of each other. Rundle Mall is like most major shopping centres in Australia with one huge exception, it is all outdoors and has lots of little narrow laneways to explore.
We walked back to the hotel and I had a swim in the pool, I know what you are thinking "are you crazy? you went swimming in 18 degree weather in Adelaide in Winter?" while indeed I am crazy, the pool is an indoor pool which is heated and there is also a spa within the pool complex so I was nice and warm.
That night, we had a bit of difficulty finding somewhere to eat as most restaurants in Adelaide are closed on Monday nights so that is something to keep in mind when travelling to Adelaide. Eventually we found a nice restaurant in the Alba Hotel, a very beautiful new hotel that we were actually looking at staying at originally, however we chose Adina due to its central location, the Alba Hotel is about a 5 minute cab drive out of the city, it also has an outdoor pool which would be beautiful in summer but too cold in winter. The food we had was very nice, unfortunately I forgot to take photos of the food but believe me when I say it was delicious.
COSTS Lunch: $91.00 Taxi To Alba Hotel: $11.00 Dinner: $89.00 Taxi To Adina Apartments: $11.00
DAY TWO Date: 21/5/2024 Weather: Day: 19 Degrees Night: 12 Degrees Itinerary: Adelaide Zoo Sushi Train Koko Black Madame Hanoi
Day two was dedicated to the amazing Adelaide Zoo. Adelaide zoo is Australia's second oldest zoo, opening in 1883 and is home to 2500 animals. Adelaide zoo is most famous for its Giant Panda's Wang Wang and Fu Ni, the only Giant Panda's found anywhere in Australia. Everyday at 1:15PM is the Giant Panda keeper talk where you can learn more about these adorable animals, I learnt many interesting facts, however I won't spoil it by sharing them here. Other interesting creatures in Adelaide Zoo include Sumatran Tigers, Lions, Taipurs, Manned Wolves, Komodo Dragons and much more. The Reptile Enclosure is also pretty awesome and was my second favourite exhibit after the Giant Pandas.
Adelaide Zoo
After our trip to the Adelaide Zoo, we got on one of the Free City Connector Buses that takes you all around the city and got off at Rundle Mall where we had sushi at Sushi Train for lunch. After lunch, we stumbled across a Koko Black cafe and went in for dessert. I had a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream which was delicious.
Koko Black
We went back to the hotel and I went and had my daily afternoon spa and swim. For dinner that night, we went to Madame Hanoi, an amazing Vietnamese restaurant just outside the SkyCity Casino. My Mum had a bao bun for an entree and I had spicy tofu which was delicious. For mains we shared Galangal Spiced Half Chicken with rice. The chicken was so tender and succulent and covered in a delicious miso corn puree with pickles, coriander and dried chilli oil. It was the best chicken dish either of us has ever eaten, the portion sizes were big meaning we had leftovers (I may or may not have had the chicken and tofu for breakfast the next morning).
Madame Hanoi
COSTS Taxi To Adelaide Zoo: $12.00 Adelaide Zoo: $42.50 Bus To Sushi Train: $2.05 Lunch: $22.00 Koko Black: $8.00 Taxi To Madame Hanoi: $10.00 Dinner: $66.00 Taxi To Adina Apartments: $10.00
DAY THREE Date: 22/5/2024 Weather: Day: 18 Degrees Night: 12 Degrees Itinerary: Art Gallery Of South Australia Lunch Adelaide Botanic Gardens Pizza E Mozzarella Bar
Day three was very exciting for me because that day I was meeting up with Maura, an internet friend of 10 years!!!!! it was so exciting to finally meet up in person. We met up at the Art Gallery Of South Australia, greeting each other with a huge hug and excited grins. Being from Sydney, I didn't think there would be galleries better than ours in other states but I was wrong! the Art Gallery Of South Australia would have to be better than any of the galleries that I have seen in Sydney. The gallery is completely free to enter, unless of course you are there for a paid exhibition and houses many amazing treasures.
We spent well over an hour walking through the art gallery and looking at all of the beautiful works of art. I was pleasantly surprised to find a digital portrait of Lady Gaga in the museum.
Art Gallery Of South Australia
After seeing the Art Gallery Of South Australia, Maura and I went next door to the South Australian Museum. This museum focuses on native cultures, fauna of Australia, prehistoric creatures, minerals, arctic explorations and much more. There is so much to see here, you could easily spend over an hour exploring everything which we did, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that we saw.
South Australian Museum
We then went and had lunch at this really nice Ramen bar, unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it and I forgot to take photos, but it was delicious.
Our last stop was the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, a wonderland of all different kinds of plants and flowers. We pretty much walked the entire gardens which was tiring but so worth it. There was a little straw hut which Maura and I both agreed reminded us of "The Secret Garden", a green house with lillypads, a rose garden, a greenhouse with a cave and much more.
Adelaide Botanic Gardens
At around 4:00PM, Maura and I said our goodbyes and I went back to the hotel. I had my daily afternoon swim and spa and then Mum and I went to Pizza E Mozzarella Bar for dinner. I had a really nice mocktail which I can't remember the name of, for dinner, Mum and I shared a garlic pizza and a spaghetti in red sauce. Both meals were delicious and we defiantly would recommend them.
Pizza E Mozzarella Bar
COSTS Lunch: $23.00 Dinner: $51.00
DAY FOUR Date: 23/5/2024 Weather: Day: 17 Degrees Night: 11 Degrees Itinerary: Bums On Seats Hanhdorf & Barossa Valley With Winery Lunch Tour - Maggie Beer's Farmshop - Barossa Valley Chocolate Company - Chateau Yaldara - Kies Family Wines - Hanhdorf Concubine
My Mum's birthday is in August so I booked a day trip to the Barossa Valley as an early birthday present for her. We went with a company Called "Bums On Seats", I know, funny name we all had a giggle about it. We were picked up out the front of our hotel in a van by a lovely driver by the name of Jeff. We were the first people Jeff picked up and then we went to 2 other hotels and picked up the other guests, there ended up being six of us so it was a very small and intimate group which was very nice. Everyone we met on our tour was really lovely and we were all quite good friends by the end of the day.
Our first stop was Maggie Beer's Farmshop at Pheasant Farm, this was the main reason I booked this tour for my Mum's birthday because my Mum loves Maggie Beer and has always wanted to visit her farm shop. It took us about an hour from Adelaide to get there, our guide Jeff was amazing and told us many interesting facts about Adelaide, the Barossa Valley and the Farmshop on the way.
Mum of course was very excited when we pulled into Maggie Beer's Farmshop and I got a polaroid shot of her before we went inside. The Farmshop is both a cafe and a gift shop in one, Maggie Beer for years had a show called "The Cook & The Chef" and inside the gift shop is the exact kitchen that she used for the show which Mum was very excited to see. After a look in the gift shop, we ordered morning tea at the cafe and sat and looked at the window at the magnificent Yabby Farm. Our morning tea arrived, Mum ordered a scone and a coffee and I had a dark chocolate brownie with pear, sounds like a weird combination but it was the most amazing brownie I have ever eaten!!!! Mum said her coffee and scone were out of this world. After about half an hour in the farm shop, we went back out to the van and hopped on to our next destination the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company.
Maggie Beer's Farmshop
We arrived at the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company and were immediately greeted with the big chocolate fountain at the front of the shop. We were probably there for about 15 minutes, I bought lots of chocolate and even had a chocolate gelato at the gelato stall out the front of the shop.
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company
We headed to our next destination, Chateau Yuldara for wine tasting. The beautiful big castle was built in 1941 by Hermann Thumm, a European immigrant who was sent to Australia due to WW2 and was placed in a working camp on the Murray River. After the war, Thumm was released and found work in winery near Lyndoch. Driving past an old flour mill with his boss one day, Hermann's imagination and passion were sparked, he made many visits to the current land owners and convinced them to sell him a portion of the land. For months, Hermann worked tirelessly to prepare the estate for its first vintage. Wine making began in 1947, Hermann relied on local grape growers for his first vintages.
Hermann had the infamous Chateau built over a period of 18 months, it was originally built to display his collection of furniture and fine china, however today it is used for wine tasting.
I myself am not a drinker (I know weird to be on a Barossa Valley tour when you don't drink), so while everyone was tasting wine, I walked around the magnificent gardens and even met some sheep.
Chateau Yuldara
We headed to Kies Family Wines for lunch and more wine tasting. On the way there, we were given a lunch menu and asked to pick a lunch, I chose a spinach and ricotta filo with fries and mum chose something called the monkey nut chicken. All of our food was really nice and we got to sit and chat and get to know one another a lot better which was really nice. The winery also had a gift shop, thats where I pretty much spent most of my time while the others were tasting wine. I also went into the garden and noticed that they had American Bag Toss so I had a go at that as well.
Lunch At Kies Family Winery
After lunch, we headed to the place I had been most eager to see, Hahndorf. Hahndorf is a cute little German village that was settled by German immigrants in the 19th century, as a result, the town looks and feels exactly like a town in Germany with its original German style architecture and artisanal food. Just walking up and down the streets, I saw many German flags and restaurants with German music playing inside, I even heard some people speaking German (I don't speak a word of German so I could have been mistaken but it defiantly sounded like German). The town itself has a very interesting history.
The history of Hahndorf begins in 1838, George Fife Angas, a director of a South Australian company, made a trip to London to promote colonisation. George met Pastor Kavel during his trip, who was trying to help German Lutherans being persecuted by the King Of Prussia to immigrate to safer places. Angas, moved by the plight of the Lutherans convinced Kavel that South Australia would be a suitable place for the Lutherans to emigrate to and provided a generous donation of 8000 pounds. 187 German Lutheran immigrants arrived in Port Adelaide on the 28th of December 1838 via the 344 tonne ship Zebra. Unfortunately, the passengers were unable to disembark until the 2nd of January 1839 as a result of low tide. Dirk Hahn the ships captain, had grown to respect the passengers and promised to help them achieve their goal of settling and farming together, he managed to negotiate a parcel of land in the Adelaide Hills.
The negotiated contract provided the 38 families with 100 acres of land, rent free for the first year. Of this 19 acres were allocated for housing and roads and the rest for cultivation, the settlers were also provided with a years worth of seeds and some livestock, all on credit as a communal debt. The settlers decided to buy the land at the end of the first year, however it took them a few years to pay off the debt. In addition to the 38 families, an extra 14 families who had settled previously at Klemzig joined the settlement. The new settlement was named Hahndorf (Hahn's Village) in honour of Captain Hahn who had helped the refugees to achieve their goal.
I absolutely loved this little town so much, all of the little shops are so cute, and I even bought a really cute bag in the Hahndorf Bag Shop. I have always wanted to visit Germany, but I want to do so even more so after seeing this village, I'd also like to start learning some German as I literally know none.
Hahndorf
The Bag I Bought In Hahndorf
After Hahndorf, our wonderful tour had come to an end and we were dropped back at our hotel, where we said our goodbyes to all of the lovely people on the tour and our amazing driver Jeff. I of course went and had my afternoon swim and spa and then we went out for dinner.
We walked down to Chinatown that night and went to a really beautiful Chinese restaurant called Concubine, the food was amazing and so was the service. We got a little lost on our way there, so we rang them to ask for help getting there and one of the staff members literally walked down the street to find us!!!!! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I of course had Tofu and rice for dinner.
Concubine
COSTS Bums On Seats Tour: $169.00 Dinner: $41.00
DAY FIVE Date: 24/5/2024 Weather: Day: 17 Degrees Night: 12 Degrees Itinerary: Glenelg Beach Cheeseburger Adelaide Central Markets Osteria Oggi Koko Black Rundle Mall
Day five was our last full day in Adelaide, so we decided to go down to Glenelg beach via tram. Glenelg Beach is a beautiful beach that is very popular in the summertime, the area of Glenelg, is also pretty amazing, there are many shops, cafes and restaurants. Lots of little photo ops along the beach front, a fountain in the centre square and a huge amusement centre for kids and big kids. As Mum and I went in winter, Glenelg was pretty quite and obviously we were unable to actually swim, however it was still very worth the trip here.
The first thing we did was go out on to the wharf. As we came back from the wharf, I discovered the little photo ops on the beach and got some photos with them. We then went to a little cafe called Banjo's for morning tea, mum had coffee and I had a mini Hawaiian pizza. We then walked up and down the main street and had a look in all of the little shops before getting the tram back to the Adelaide CBD.
Glenelg Beach
After Glenelg, we were both craving cheeseburgers so while we were on the tram back to Adelaide CBD, I looked up good burger bars in Adelaide and found one simply called "Cheeseburger". Once we got back to Adelaide CBD, we both walked to Cheeseburger and had a delicious cheeseburger for lunch.
Cheeseburger
After lunch we walked to the Adelaide Central Markets. The Adelaide Central Markets has over 80 vendors, selling fresh produce and amazing food. The fruit and veggies looked so beautiful and fresh!!!! I really wished I could have taken some back to Sydney with me. We walked up and down every aisle, I had a snickers pop at Jamu which was delicious and we both decided to return for lunch the next day.
Adelaide Central Markets
That night for dinner we went to Osteria Oggi, a beautiful Italian restaurant. The restaurant is unique in that rather than sitting at an individual table, you sit at a more communal table, the idea of this is to encourage guests to mingle with and get to know one another which I think is quite a lovely idea. They do also have private booths but these are reserved for groups. We had a really lovely server whose name now slips my mind, however I DO!!!! remember she had an Industrial piercing which I was very jealous of. Mum and I shared Spaghetti with smoked passata, capers, olives, chilli and basil and wood grilled zucchini, both dishes were absolutely delicious and had us wanting to lick the plate.
Osteria Oggi
After dinner we decided to go to Koko Black for dessert. We both ordered the same thing that we did on the Tuesday and we both enjoyed it just as much. In Adelaide, Friday is late night shopping night and since we were already in Rundle Mall, we decided to walk through and have a quick look before returning to our hotel.
Rundle Mall
COSTS Tram To Glenelg Beach: $3.00 Morning Tea: $8.00 Tram To Adelaide: $3.00 Lunch: $10.90 Dinner: $60 Koko Black: $8.00
DAY SIX Date: 25/5/2024 Weather: Day: 16 Degrees Night: 12 Degrees Itinerary: Check Out Of Hotel Torrens River Cruise Adelaide Central Market Church
COSTS Taxi To Torrens River: $9.00 Torrens River Cruise: $17.00 Lunch: $16.00
Waking up I was hit with a pang of sadness as I realised that this was the last morning I would wake up in the Adina Apartments. Luckily, our flight back to Sydney wasn't until 3 in the afternoon so we still had almost a full day to spend in Adelaide before heading to the airport.
We checked out of the Adina Apartments, however as we were still going to be out and about in Adelaide, they held our bags in storage for us.
We got a taxi down to the Torrens River. The Torrens River is the reason that Adelaide was selected as the site for settlement in 1836 when the Europeans arrived due to the fresh water available from the river. We went on a cruise down the river with Popeye River Cruises that took us through the entire river. Along the way we were handed around photos of the river throughout the ages and given many interesting facts by our guide, the cruise went for 45 minutes and was a very pleasant way to spend the morning.
The Torrens River
After our cruise, we walked to the Adelaide Central Markets and had lunch at an amazing pizza stall called Atlas.
Lunch At Adelaide Central Markets
After lunch, we walked across the road to the beautiful St Peter's Cathedral. Adelaide is known as the "City Of Churches" and has many beautiful churches to explore. Sadly I only got a chance to see one, however I'm hoping to visit again and when I do, I'll defiantly check out the others. St Peter's is a beautiful church and defiantly something I recommend seeing.
St Peter's Cathedral
This is where our trip in Adelaide basically finished, we went back to the Adina Apartments and got our luggage and then got a taxi to the airport where we flew back home to Sydney.
I must say I really enjoyed Adelaide far more than I was expecting, Adelaide is a small but beautiful and diverse city with beautiful food, unique sights and friendly people from all walks of life.
TIPS - Adelaide gets very cold in Winter so make sure to pack plenty of warm clothes, boots and a coat if you visit in winter. - When using public transport, tap your card on the scanner when you get on but don't tap off again as you leave.

MY TRIP TO SINGAPORE 2023
I have just returned from a trip to Singapore. I went with my Mum and my Boyfriend Aaron, we all had a wonderful time, Singapore is such a beautiful clean, safe country with so much to see and do. We spent a week in Singapore, four days in the mainland and two days on Sentosa Island. Below is a day by day account of my trip as well as some information and tips I thought would be useful to add.
The trip started at Sydney International Airport on the 3rd of May. We flew from Sydney to Singapore via Singapore Airlines and let me tell you this is THE BEST!!! Airline I have ever flown with. We flew Economy and when we entered the plane I thought at first we were in the wrong section, that we were in business class because all of the seats had a pillow and blanket, something I have NEVER gotten on any other airline so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that we were in fact in the right section. The chairs were so comfortable, usually I find plane seats to be uncomfortable but these seats were perfect. The service is amazing, you never want for anything and the food was amazing too, for dinner I had Chicken Tiki Masala which was delicious and then after dinner we were all given a Magnum Ice Cream. The flight to Singapore was 8 hours and it was a very pleasant flight.
When we arrived in Singapore the first thing I noticed when we stepped off the plane was the heat, it was 9:00PM and according to my phone it was 87% humidity and the temperature was 28 degrees. This is normal for Singapore, as it is very close to the equator, also May is the last Spring Month before Summer in Singapore. We got our luggage and then got a cab to our hotel, we stayed at the Park Royal, a beautiful hotel directly opposite Haji Lane.

DAY ONE Date: 4/5/2023 Weather: Day: 32 Degrees Night: 28 Degrees Humidity: Day: 78% Night: 87% Itinerary: Gardens By The Bay Marina Bay Sands Lavo
For our first day in Singapore we decided to do the famous Gardens By The Bay and Marina Bay Sands. We caught a cab from our hotel to Gardens By The Bay which took 5 minutes.
The Entrance To Gardens By The Bay
We decided to do the Cloud Forest, Supertree Observatory and Floral Fantasy, we got our tickets and headed straight to the Cloud Forest. The Cloud Forest is absolutely breathtaking, it features one of the worlds tallest indoor waterfalls which stands at 35m tall. The Cloud Forest is also home to a lush mountain covered in plants from around the world and also has an aerial walkway which provides a birds eye view of the Cloud Forest from above. There are many amazing plants inside the Cloud Forest such as Singapore’s national flower the Orchid, but my favourites were the carnivorous plants. There is a whole section dedicated to especially to carnivorous plants as well as lots of different kinds of Pitchers (My favourite Carnivorous Plant) dotted around the forest. While we were there, “Avatar The Experience” the exhibition was on display inside the Cloud Forest which made it even more magical.

After The Cloud Forest we headed over to the Supertree Observatory, the tallest supertree in the supertree grove which offers amazing views over the entire Gardens By The Bay and the Marina Bay area. There are a few cafes inside the building should you feel the need to stop for a drink or a bite to eat.

Our next stop was the Floral Fantasy, an indoor garden that provides both a magical experience and the perfect Instagram shot. Suspended bouquets hang from the ceiling and elaborate floral arrangements fill the garden and over 15,000 fresh cut, dried and preserved flowers hang from the ceiling. There is also a vivarium housing Poison Dart Frogs which I was most excited to see as I love frogs (I have a Green Tree Frog named Princess) and I had never seen a Poison Dart Frog before.

We were all pretty hungry once we exited the Floral Fantasy so we decided to head to the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel for lunch. We ate in The Shoppes foodcourt, Foodcourts in Singapore are unlike foodcourts any where else in the world, they are clean and offer a variety of the most delicious food, some of which even receive Michelin Stars. While I cannot remember the name of the stall I ate from I do remember it was Japanese and I got the best Bento box I have ever had, it came with Takoyaki, Rice and Katsu Chicken. After lunch we went and had a ride on Sampan Rides, a little boat ride in a canal in the middle of the shopping centre. After that we had a little look around some of the shops before heading back to our hotel for a quick rest before dinner that night.
Sampan Boat Ride
That night we headed back to Marina Bay Sands and had dinner at an Italian restaurant on the rooftop called Lavo. The restaurant is on the same level as the famous infinity pool and the views across Singapore are absolutely stunning. As a non drinker I was very happy to discover that this restaurant had a mock-tail list, in Australia where I’m from many places don’t do mock-tails, throughout my trip I discovered that nearly every place in Singapore does mock-tails which made me very happy so I had a mock-tail. Mum and I shared a Garlic Bread while we had drinks, for dinner I had the Rigatoni Melanzana and it was absolutely delicious.

After Dinner, we walked back over to Gardens By The Bay where we watched the nightly Garden Rhapsody show, a sound and light show in the Supertree Grove that goes for 15 minutes. Once the Garden Rhapsody had finished, we got a cab back to our hotel and that was the end of our first day in Singapore.

DAY TWO Date: 5/5/2023 Weather: Day: 32 Degrees Night: 27 Degrees Humidity: Day: 79% Night: 85% Itinerary: River Safari Singapore Zoo Piedra Negra
Day two was dedicated to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve which houses four wildlife parks, Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari, we did the River Wonders and Singapore Zoo. To get to Mandai from Haji Lane took a trip MRT which took us about 45 minutes and from there a 10 minute trip on a bus.
We bought tickets for both the River Safari and the Singapore Zoo, we decided to do the River Safari first. The River Safari is a river themed zoo and aquarium, Over 6,000 animals including 40 threatened species call the River Wonders home with zones that replicate the habitats of rivers around the world. As we walked through the aquarium, I was delighted to see Red Bellied Piranha and Electric Eels as neither of these fascinating Amazon River dwellers can be seen anywhere in Australia.

We made our way down to the Amazon River Quest Boat Ride, which showed us many more amazing animals from the Amazon Jungle which I had never seen before such as Jaguars, Flamingos, Anteaters (I call these animals the Living Vacuum Cleaners as they look like Vacuum Cleaners to me), Howler Monkeys and much more.

Once we got off the ride our next stop was Panda Paradise to see the resident Giant Pandas Kai Kai, Jia Jia and Their one year old Cub Le Le. This was the most exciting part for me as I had never seen a Panda before, the first time we went through they were asleep however when we went through a second time they were awake and munching away on Bamboo. We had lunch at the appropriately named “Mamma Panda Kitchen” before moving onto Singapore Zoo, I had Chicken Katsu Ramen which was delicious.

We went into the Singapore Zoo which is home over 2,800 animals from 300 species and has won many awards both locally and internationally including plaudits from Forbes Traveler as one of the best zoos in the world, the Asian Attraction Awards for Most Popular Attraction in the Wildlife Park category and the STB 22nd Tourism Award for Best Leisure Attraction Experience of the Year, it was also ranked as one of the top 3 zoos in the world by the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award in 2018. I have been to many zoos in my home country Australia, we have many amazing zoos but I can honestly say that this is THE BEST!!! Zoo I have ever seen, such an amazing variety of unique animals in big beautiful enclosures that truly mimic Their natural environment. I loved seeing them all especially the White Tigers, Pygmy Hippopotamuses, White Rhinoceroses and the Orang-utans but my favourite section was Reptopia. I am a Snake fanatic and this zoo has many Snakes that I have never seen before as we don’t have them in Australia, one of the Snakes I had never even heard of which is a rarity for me, my favourite snakes were the West Africa Gaboon Viper and the Sidewinder but I loved them all.

The next day we decided to walk down Haji Lane which is in the Kampong Glam area of Singapore and known for its one off boutiques and cafes. Located in the heart of of Kampong Glam is the elaborate Sultan Mosque. Built in 1824 for the first Sultan of Singapore, Sultan Hussein Shah, Sir Stamford Raffles the founder of Singapore gave a S$3,000 grant to the construction company of a single story building with a double tiered roof. A hundred years later, the mosque desperately needed repairs and was transformed into the what it is today, an elaborate building with huge gold domes that looks as though it is straight from Aladdin so of course I had to get a picture in front of it. We were planning to go inside to have a look however the day that we went which was a Friday the Mosque was closed off to tourists as it was being used for Prayer. If you decide to go to the mosque, Modest clothing is required to enter the Mosque, long sleeve tops covered to the wrist and long pants or skirts to the ankle are required, no shorts, tshirts or revealing clothing. Should you not have the appropriate clothing, the mosque does provide free cloaks to visitors.
Me In Haji Lane In Front Of The Sultan Mosque
After Walking down Haji Lane and seeing the Sultan Mosque we decided to get a cab to Little India. Once known as Serangoon in the 18th century and operating as an important artery of commerce and transport for the plantations located in the interior of the island along the route to Serangoon Harbour as well as being a vital loading and unloading point for the Johor gambier and pepper planters, Various communities began to establish themselves in this area in the 19th century. Many Kampongs (Malay Villages) were established around the area and attracted people from Java, Malaysia and of course India and by 1980, the area was officially named Little India. Today Little India is one of Singapore’s most colourful and vibrant districts, there are many things to see and do in Little India as well as many great places to eat. We walked around the area a little bit until we came across the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. This beautiful Hindu temple is one of the oldest temples in Singapore. The temple was built by Indian pioneers who went to Singapore to live and work to help these pioneers feel at home in a foregin land. Sri Veeremakaliamman, the chief deity of the temple is a Powerful Goddess and Destroyer of Evil was chosen as her presence fulfilled the need of the early migrants to feel secure in a new land. Modest clothing is required to enter the Temple, long sleeve tops covered to the wrist and long pants or skirts to the ankle are required, no shorts, tshirts or revealing clothing, you also must remove your shoes before entering the temple.
Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple
We then caught a cab to Chinatown where we went and saw the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. built in 2007, this is the place to go to see Buddhist art and learn about this culture which is over thousands of years old. The name itself comes from what the Buddhists regard as the left canine tooth of Buddha which was recovered from his funeral pure in Kushinagar India and is housed within this beautiful temple. We walked around the first level and then took the elevator up to the fourth level which is where the left canine tooth of Buddha is displayed. We then went to the very top of the temple, a beautiful rooftop Orchid garden Modest clothing is required to enter the Temple, long sleeve tops covered to the wrist and long pants or skirts to the ankle are required, no shorts, tshirts or revealing clothing, if you happen to wear a short sleeve top, shawls are provided free of charge. You are also able to purchase offerings in the temple.
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
We had lunch at Maxwell Food Centre, a very well known Hawker Centre in Singapore. For those not in the know, Hawker Centre are open air complexes that house many stalls that sell a wide variety of affordably priced food, You simply cannot go to Singapore and not visit a Hawker Centre. I had Haianese Chicken with noodles, at Tian Tian, it was the best Haianese Chicken and Noodles I have ever eaten in my entire life.
Maxwell Food Centre
After Lunch we got the MRT to Clarke Quay where we had a quick walk around the area before getting a cab back to our hotel where we spent the afternoon swimming in the hotel pool. After a few hours, we decided to go and get afternoon tea from a cafe across the road from us called Fika Swedish Cafe And Bistro. “Fika” is a Swedish tradition in which you stop for a coffee break and something sweet to eat for 30 minutes with family, friends or colleagues, in keeping with the tradition, I had pancakes with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
Fika Swedish Cafe And Bistro
We went back to Clarke Quay for dinner that night and had dinner at Jumbo Seafood, a seafood place in Singapore that is well known for its Chilli Mud Crab. This was my first time trying Crab and I must say I enjoyed every mouthful. We also had Fried Rice and some Satay Sticks as an entree, this was our most expensive meal in Singapore but it was absolutely worth every cent.
Dinner At Jumbo Seafood
After Dinner we walked all the way around to the Merlion Park and saw and took pictures with the famous Merlion statue. The Merlion is the cities national icon. According to the legend, Sang Nila Utama, the 14th century Prince of Sumatra, was sailing in the South China Sea when a ferocious storm hit. Scared that the ship would be wrecked he threw his crown into the ocean as a sacrifice to the Gods. Once the weather cleared the ship had reached an island paradise, as the Prince came ashore he encountered a lion, a good omen which Singapore - Sanskrit for lion (singa) and city (pura) was named after. The Merlions fish like body is symbolic of Singapore’s origins of a fishing city. Behind the Merlion statue is a smaller Merlion statue which is known as “The Merlion Cub”

DAY FOUR Date: 7/5/2023 Weather: Day: 30 Degrees Night: 27 Degrees Humidity: Day: 79% Night: 86% Itinerary: Fort Canning Park ION Orchard Satay Street Lau Pa Sat
This was our last day staying in the mainland of Singapore before moving onto Sentosa Island the next day. We decided instead of going around by Cabs or the MRT to join a Hop On, Hop Off Bus Tour and tour around the city for one last time this way. I would really recommend doing this as it takes you to all of the important sites and you get headphones which you can attach to an outlet and listen to information all about Singapore. Aaron is a bit of a History buff and very interested with the subjects of WWI and WWII so we made the decision to visit the beautiful Fort Canning Park which sits opposite Clarke Quay. The park itself is gorgeous and lovely to just walk through and admire the greenery, however we went for the Battlebox Museum. Many important historical events took place at the hilltop of this park, in the 14th century Malayan Princesses bathed in forbidden springs (the hill was known as Forbidden Hill during this time), and ancient craftsmen piled their trade for the royal family. During the British colonisation, Sir Stamford Raffles resided here and established the first botanic gardens to simulate agriculture in the country. In 1936 an underground bunker now known as the Battlebox was built, this was the command centre during the Malayan campaign and the Battle of Singapore. This is also the place where Lieutenant-General Arthur E. Percival and the Allied Forces decided to surrender to the Japanese in WWII.

After spending the morning at Fort Canning Park, Mum and I decided we wanted to go to Orchard Road and go through the iconic ION Orchard Mall. Aaron wanted to go to Suntec City and look at some gaming equipment so he went there and Mum and I headed to Orchard Road. There are nine shopping centres along Orchard Road however we only went through ION Mall. ION is absolutely huge and has everything from fashion, food, homewares, technology and high end designer labels. We went through many of the shops, however the shops I myself bought from were Daiso and Charles And Keith.

After a long shopping trip, Mum and I went back to our hotel where we met up with Aaron and spent the afternoon swimming in our hotel pool. For dinner, we caught a cab to Lau Pa Sat and Satay Street. We started off our dinner in Satay Street with some satay sticks, we ordered 10 chicken satay sticks and 5 beef ones, they were the best satay sticks I have ever eaten in my life. We then went into Lau Pa Sat and tried a variety of different foods, all of the dishes are so cheap my most expensive dish was S$12.00. I unfortunately don’t remember the names of the stalls I ate from but what I had was, Haianese Chicken and Rice and a plate of Spicy Tofu. We then went into Food Folks, a cute little shop inside Lau Pa Sat that sells dessert, my Mum and Aaron had coffee and cake and I had a chocolate gelato. We then caught a cab back to our hotel and began packing up our rooms ready for the next day.

We checked out of the Park Royal Hotel and called a cab to take us to Sentosa Island. When we got to Sentosa Island we checked into the Village Hotel where we were staying and basically spent the entire day by one of the three pools just relaxing as we had been going no stop for the past four days. Around lunch time, Mum and I took a walk down to Resorts World and had a look in the bazaar which is filled with restaurants and shops.

In the afternoon, we decided to go down to Siloso Beach, Siloso Beach is a manmade beach, there is a zipline and lots of bars and restaurants along the shore, many of the bars even have pools in them. When we got to Siloso Beach the first thing we did was take a photo at the Famous Siloso Beach sign. We then walked around the beach for a bit before heading up to Rumours Beach Club, a bar that had a pool, Mum and Aaron didn’t take their swimming costumes with them but I did so I swam in the pool while they enjoyed some drinks.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants on the beach called Coastes, it didn’t have a pool but it did have amazing food, I had spaghetti Arrabbiata. After dinner we went back to our hotel and swam in the pool as we waited for the Wings Of Time show to start. The Wings Of Time 20 minute laser light show featuring sound and fireworks is held on beach road and is a ticketed event, however we opted instead to watch the show from the rooftop pool in our hotel.

DAY SIX Date: 9/5/2023 Weather: Day: 32 Degrees Night: 27 Degrees Humidity: Day: 67% Night: 87% Itinerary: Universal Studios Altitude
Our second last day in Singapore was spent at Universal Studios, located on Sentosa Island this is the first Hollywood movie theme park in Southeast Asia. With six zones that are populated by iconic characters from the famous franchise Universal Studios, there is something for everyone to enjoy here, wether you’re a daredevil, a film buff or just looking for a day of fun, Universal Studios will provide you with a day of fun to remember. The Six Zones - Hollywood Zone - New York - Sci - Fi City - Ancient Egypt - The Lost World - Far Far Away
Us In Resorts World
When the gates opened, we went straight to the Jurassic Park Rapid Adventure and managed to get straight on, this ride basically simulates the scene in the first movie where everyone goes on the car ride for the first time which later breaks down, leaving the guests stuck with in the middle of the ride with carnivorous dinosaurs who are now roaming freely, except instead of a car you are in a boat. We got off the Jurassic Park Rapid Adventure ride and headed to the Canopy Flyer, a rollercoaster in which you are sitting on a seat which is suspended up in the air and moves quickly.

We existed The Lost World and entered Far Far Away where we went on the Shrek 4D ride, a really fun 4D simulator ride. After that we went on the Enchanted Airways rollercoaster before stopping in for a look at the Fairy Godmother’s Potion Shop
Far Far Away
Fairy Godmother’s Potion Shop
We then made out way into Ancient Egypt to get on the Revenge Of The Mummy ride, an indoor rollercoaster that is pitch black inside, I’m not gonna lie I was terrified because I am not a big fan of rollercoasters, they have always freaked me out and the only reason I went on the Canopy Flyer and the Enchanted Airways was because Aaron and Mum managed to somehow talk me into it and I enjoyed them both but I would never have even considered doing it on my own. As we got on the ride, I was really nervous like I said but there was NO WAY!!! I was backing out, leaving Universal Studios without riding Revenge Of The Mummy was simply not an option for me so I went through with it anyway. I held Aaron’s hand all the way and according to him I was gripping his hand so hard I almost broke it LOL!!! The ride was for me very fast and full on as I don’t really do rollercoasters but I ended up enjoying it so much I insisted on going on it again one more time before we left the park.
Ancient Egypt
After riding Revenge Of The Mummy, we went into Sci Fi City, home of the famous Battlestar Galactica, now that is a rollercoaster I absolutely DID NOT!!! get on and there was no way anyone was going to talk me into it, but we did go on Transformers The Ride The Ultimate 3D Battle, a fun 3D simulator in which you have to help save Earth from total destruction.

We then stopped in at Loui’s Pizza for a quick lunch break before getting back into action.

The next ride we did was far more low key than the previous rides, the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase. I know I know its for little kids but I wanted to try and do as many rides as I possibly could, my goal was to do all of them however there were some kids rides that adults couldn’t ride on and as I mentioned earlier Battlestar Galactica was out of the question so on the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase we went. While not a thrilling ride it was really cute and visually it was good.

Having done almost all of the rides, we decided to do a little bit of shopping, there was both a Hello Kitty and a Gudetama store in this park, I would like to give a personal shoutout to Aaron for being an accountability partner for me in these shops, without him i for sure would have emptied my entire bank account.

We then went back around and hopped on Revenge Of The Mummy for the second time before leaving the park and heading back to our hotel for a swim. While walking through Hollywood, I spotted a Vincent Price plaque on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame so naturally I needed to stop and get a photo.

That night we had dinner at the rooftop pool bar Altitude in The Outpost Hotel which was next door to us. Mum and I shared a Margherita Pizza and Penne Arrabbiata. After dinner we all sadly and with heavy hearts went back to our hotel rooms to pack up all of our stuff, ready to check out and fly back to Sydney the next day.

DAY SEVEN Date: 10/5/2023 Weather: Day: 32 Degrees Night: 28 Degrees Humidity: Day: 68% Night: 85% Itinerary: The Jewel Changi Airport
Waking up we were all hit with a pang of sadness as we had breakfast, packed up our rooms and checked out of our hotel. We caught a cab to Changi Airport and decided to make the most of our last few hours in Singapore by exploring The Jewel and the rest of Changi Airport, this airport is rated the best airport in the world and after going through it I can see why. We checked in our luggage and then headed over to The Jewel where we went straight to the famous HSBC Rain Vortex to take some photos.
HSBC Rain Vortex
After we got our photos we had a quick walk around the Shiseido Forest Valley before heading to the food court for lunch, I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the place we ate at but I do remember that I had a very delicious pasta with red sauce. After lunch it was time for some shopping, The Jewel has many shops, my favourite being the Disney Store, Miniso, Charles And Keith and this really cute gift shop which I can’t remember the name of.

With only two hours until our flight to go, we headed back over to Changi Airport, we were in Terminal Three which has a Butterfly Garden, it is small but filled with all kinds of beautiful and unique butterflies. When we were done with the Butterfly Garden it was sadly time to go and wait for our flight back to Sydney.

Thursday 2nd February 2023
We woke again to grey skies and precipitation like someone chucking buckets of water at the rolling ship. Ovation is now homeward bound for Sydney and somewhere in the Tasman Sea. The waiter said it's always like this right here. Exactly where 'right here' is seems to assume an accuracy not possible without some form of satellite assistance. However, the waiter clearly knows best and I must bow to this superior assessment. I would have thought the captain might look for a better route if this one is that predictable. I think he's spending too much time working out the playlists for the onboard music to worry too much about routes. Hey ho. They locked the upper deck doors this morning preventing any brave soul or looney from exercising on the running track. Quite right, you'd be shark fodder before you knew it, but didn't they also do that on Titanic? Martine had a swim even so, although the pool was swaying about so much she could have gone surfing. The water was swishing back and forth like panning for gold. I went to the gym essentially to go on the running machine but decided fast walking was preferable due to the need for desperate hanging onto the sides of the equipment. Then a hearty seafarers breakfast. Copious amounts of smoked salmon, bacon, fried eggs, tomato and roast potatoes. Quite modest compared to some I'd say. Well, we are back in Sydney on Saturday and we will be back on a very strict diet of rubbery chicken.
A sloppy day book reading and ice creams. Then another session in the gym this arvo. A day at sea is an interesting time as it is an opportunity to judge the way others are happy to spend prescious hours of their lives. So on board there was bingo, trivia quizzes, game show, whisky tasting, karaoke and LGBTQ meet and greet. (lovely). Hidi Hi.
The sea has calmed slightly although we are still swaying a fair bit. I didn't have the soup. The staff sensing there is little time remaining to push the guests over the line to score ten out of ten for service are now desperately telling us the correct answer to 'how would you rate the service on board?'
And so to the second and last formal dinner onboard in 'Silk' restaurant and our penultimate evening meal aboard. We have noticed that the numbers now wearing the full attire; long ball gown dresses and tuxedos, is very much in the decendence. With further travel post-cruise it was unrealistic for us to bring and wear the full kit and caboodle, but we did our best to look presentable. Martine looked very good in her frock, however I have to say some others could have made more effort. Then to the show which was a tribute to the Helen Reddy story and it was quite good, followed by a coffee in the Promenade Cafe at which the star of the show was a small child who threw up at the table next to us. The pizza he had been eating shared the top spot.

Shower Regrouting Sydney: A Simple Fix for Leaking Showers
Homeowners often complain about leaking showers that can be a frustrating and very costly problem. If allowed to run untreated, a shower can leak water, do damage, mold grow, erode your foundation, and cost you money. Fortunately, there’s an effective and affordable solution: shower regrouting. Professional shower regrouting services are great for homeowners in Sydney because they can fix any leaks, improve the appearance of your bathroom, and extend the life of your tiles in a snap of your fingers.
If it's a leaking shower in Sydney you have, here’s everything you need to know about shower regrouting and why it is the best solution.
What Is Shower Regrouting?
Shower regrouting is the removal of old, disintegrated, or lousy grout that lies in between your shower tiles, and changing it into new, premium quality grout. Without grout, water will seep into your underlying structures and cause cracks leading to tiles, which in turn would not be able to remain in place. As time moves on grout can crack, be worn down or discolored and in time become less effective and less appealing.
Having a professional shower regrouting not only ensures the grout is saved but also guarantees that your shower is waterproof and there will be no leaks.
Shower Regrouting Signs
Knowing when to regrout your shower just becomes crucial to stop these sorts of problems from occurring. Here are some signs to look out for:
Cracked or Missing Grout
Cracks in grout create gaps through which water can find its way behind tiles and cause leaks or even water damage.
Mold and Mildew Growth
Persistent mold and mildew in or on the grout and/or discolored grout lines are signs of trapped water and no longer effective grout.
Leaking Shower
If you have damp patches on an adjoining wall or see water pooling around your shower you should think about regrouting.
Loose or Hollow Tiles
Water that leaks through a damaged grout can loosen tiles, giving them a lopsided, unsteady or hollow feeling when you tap them.
Aged or Discolored Grout
Of course, if your shower isn't leaking, old or stained grout will detract from the overall appearance of your bathroom.
Shower Regrouting – The Benefits
Shower regrouting offers several advantages beyond simply fixing leaks:
Prevents Water Damage
Regrouting seals gaps and cracks in the grout, so that water doesn’t penetrate behind tiles and affect your walls and floors.
Restores Aesthetic Appeal
Grout enhances your shower’s looks, creating a cleaner, polished, and well maintained look to your bathroom.
Cost-Effective Solution
Regrouting is much less expensive than having to do the full tile replacement or a complete bathroom renovation in dealing with leaks and increasing functionality.
Extends Tile Lifespan
Regrouting helps bring back the integrity and ties your tiles together and keep them where they should stay and last longer.
Increases Hygiene
New, antimicrobial grout is put to use on bathrooms where old, moldy grout has been replaced, keeping a healthier and more sanitary environment.
Professional shower Regrouting in Sydney: Why?
DIY grout repair kits notwithstanding, the Sydney regrouting service provider offers superior results. Here’s why you should leave this task to the experts:
Expertise and Precision
With professional technicians comes the skills and tools to get the damaged grout off your tiles without harming them, leaving you with a perfect finish.
High-Quality Materials
Premium grout material is utilized by experts as they use the best materials, such as water resistant, mold resistant, and durable materials to offer long lasting results.
Efficient Process
Professionals provide a less chaotic finish to the job when they have had the required experience and can get the job completed more quickly and efficiently.
Comprehensive Services
Apart from regrouting, professionals can attend to broken tiles or fix leaking shower screens to get the job done.
Guaranteed Workmanship
Most reputable regrouting companies in Sydney offer warranties meaning you will be able to sleep better at night!
Shower Regrouting Process
Here’s what to expect during a professional shower regrouting service:
Inspection
Your shower tiles and grout are assessed by a technician to work out the scope of the work.
Grout Removal
It’s also utilizing specialized tools to remove old grout to avoid damaging the tiles.
Cleaning and Preparation
The area is cleaned thoroughly of debris, mold and mildew. After all, there had better be a clean surface to lay the new grout in.
Application of New Grout
A fresh grout is applied, applied evenly and smoothed in the gaps between the tiles.
Sealing
The grout and tiles are protected from future water penetration with a high quality sealant.
Final Touches
Your shower is left looking better than new, as any excess grout is cleaned off.
Simple yet robust, shower regrouting in Sydney is a great solution for repairs for a leaking shower or for sprucing up your bathroom. Failing to fix damaged grout unfortunately perpetuates costly water damage, ruins the aesthetics of your space, and accelerates the wear and tear on tiles.
Professional shower regrouting services are offered by Sydney homeowners for their expertise, quality and convenience that ensures long lasting results. Regrouting can restore your leaking shower and make the bathroom clean, beautiful and functional.

Gas Plans NSW: A Guide to Comparing Energy Deals
Picture this: it’s the middle of winter, the heater’s blasting, the hot water’s in full use, and you’re cosy at home. — until the gas bill turns up and nearly knocks you off your chair. Then comes summer. The heater’s packed away, but you’re cranking up the barbie every weekend and keeping the pool heated for those balmy evening dips. Whether it’s winter warmth or summer fun, gas keeps your household ticking along—but are you paying more than you should?
Finding the right gas plan NSW could make a real difference to your budget, trimming down those winter bills or controlling summer costs. Let’s dive into how to compare energy plans, figure out your usage, and even bundle your services to nab a great deal all year round.
Steps to Compare Gas Plans in NSW
With so many energy providers offering different deals and price plans, it’s worth comparing your options regularly. Finding the right gas plan NSW can save you money, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s a simple guide to help you navigate the process:
Start by visiting Energy Made Easy, a free and independent price comparison website the Australian Energy Regulator runs. This website displays offers in a standardised format, making it easy to compare plans.
This advice is based on guidance from Energy NSW.
What to Look Out For - a Gas Plans in NSW
When comparing gas plans in NSW, here are a few key factors to keep in mind:
- Fees: Be on the lookout for additional charges, such as late fees, credit card fees, or account-keeping fees. These extras can quickly add up, so factor them into your decision.
- Usage-Based Offers: Ensure the offer suits your household’s gas usage. Some plans are better for higher or lower consumption, so choose one that matches your typical usage to avoid overpaying.
- Payment Methods: Check if the plan offers any discounts for paying via direct debit or if you can choose a payment method that works best for you.
Before locking in your gas plans in NSW, there are a few more things to consider:
- Cooling-Off Period: Most energy contracts may come with a 10-day cooling-off period, allowing you to cancel without penalty if unsatisfied with your chosen plan.
- Exit Fees: Look for plans that don’t charge exit fees. For example, Sumo offers no exit fees or lock-in contracts, making it easy to switch providers if you find a better deal later.
- Timing of the Switch: Setting up a new account takes time. Your gas plan typically kicks in at your next meter reading, so it’s worth planning to ensure a smooth transition when switching providers.
You can secure a plan that fits your budget and household lifestyle with some effort.
What Uses the Most Gas in a Home?
Wondering how much the average gas bill is in NSW? According to a Canstar Blue survey conducted in December 2023, Australia's average quarterly gas bill is $203. For households in Sydney, the average quarterly gas bill is $206. Gas prices may fluctuate, so it’s a good idea to be mindful and check with your provider for the latest figures.
This information can serve as a starting point for preparing your utility budget. However, to save on your gas bill, it’s essential to identify which appliances use the most gas. Typically, heating systems, water heaters, and cooking appliances account for most of your gas consumption. According to the NSW Government’s Energy Efficiency Guide, these appliances can significantly impact your bills. Consider lowering your thermostat, limiting hot water usage, or cooking more efficiently to reduce costs. By understanding where your gas is being used, you can make informed choices to keep your expenses in check.
Choosing the right gas plans NSW doesn’t need to be a hassle. By comparing your options, being mindful of your usage, and keeping an eye on extra fees, you can find a plan that works for your budget. Whether heating your home in winter or enjoying the summer, understanding where your gas is going and how to cut back can help keep your bills in check. So, take a few minutes to shop around—your hip pocket will thank you!

How to Choose the Best Pool Heat Pumps in Sydney
Pool heat pumps in Sydney may be the best option for your home if you've been considering extending your swimming season or maintaining the right temperature in your pool. Let's discuss why they're a fantastic option and how to choose the best one for your requirements.
Why Consider Pool Heat Pumps?
Sydney’s climate offers plenty of sunny days, but the water in your pool doesn’t always stay warm enough for a comfortable swim—especially in the cooler months. Pool heat pumps are a highly efficient way to maintain a consistent water temperature year-round, so you can make the most of your pool no matter the season.
Here’s why they’re so popular:
Energy Efficiency: Heat pumps work by drawing heat from the surrounding air and transferring it to the pool water, which is far more efficient than traditional electric or gas heaters.
Eco-Friendly: With lower energy consumption, pool heat pumps reduce your carbon footprint compared to other heating options.
Cost-Effective: While the initial investment might be higher, the ongoing operational costs are significantly lower, saving you money in the long run.
Year-Round Use: Sydney’s mild winters make heat pumps an excellent choice for keeping your pool warm during those off-peak swimming months.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Pool Heat Pump
When selecting a pool heat pump for your Sydney property, here are some things to keep in mind:
Pool Size: The size of your pool will determine the heating capacity you need. Larger pools require more powerful heat pumps.
Energy Efficiency Rating: Look for models with high Coefficient of Performance (COP) ratings, as these indicate better energy efficiency.
Noise Levels: If your pool is close to living areas or neighbours, opt for a quieter model to minimise disturbance.
Sydney Weather Conditions: Choose a heat pump that performs well in cooler ambient temperatures to ensure it remains effective even on chilly days.
Installation Space: Ensure there’s enough room near your pool for the heat pump to operate efficiently with adequate airflow.
Tips for Maximising the Efficiency of Your Pool Heat Pump
Once you’ve chosen a heat pump, follow these tips to get the most out of it:
Use a Pool Cover: Minimise heat loss by covering your pool when it’s not in use.
Maintain Regularly: Clean the heat pump’s filters and ensure the unit is serviced periodically to keep it running smoothly.
Set the Right Temperature: Avoid over-heating your pool to save energy and prolong the life of the system.
Why Heat Pumps Are Perfect for Sydney Pools
With Sydney’s blend of warm summers and mild winters, a pool heat pump is a practical and efficient solution for year-round swimming comfort. Whether you’re splashing around with family or enjoying a peaceful morning dip, maintaining a comfortable water temperature can transform your pool into a true backyard oasis.

How Can Residential Piling Contractors In Sydney Ensure A Strong Foundation For Your Home?
When building or renovating a home, the foundation is the most important part of the construction process. If the foundation isn’t solid, the entire structure is at risk. In Sydney, where soil conditions can be unpredictable, hiring experienced residential piling contractors is critical for ensuring that your home has the strong foundation it needs. These experts have the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to create a stable base that will support your home for years to come. Let’s take a look at how residential piling contractors in Sydney can ensure your home is built on a secure foundation.
Assessing Soil Conditions and Selecting the Right Piling Method
Sydney’s soil varies across different suburbs, meaning that each home construction project may require a unique piling solution. Residential piling contractors are well-versed in the local soil conditions and can carry out geotechnical surveys to determine the best approach.
By assessing factors such as soil type, moisture levels, and load-bearing capacity, they will recommend the ideal piling method—whether it’s bored piles, screw piles, or mini piles. This ensures that the foundation can bear the weight of your home without risk of settlement or movement.
Customised Piling Solutions for Residential Homes
Every home is unique, and so is its foundation. Residential piling contractors in Sydney understand the importance of tailoring the piling solution to the specific needs of your property. They can offer customised solutions based on the design of your home, the surrounding environment, and your long-term goals. Whether you’re building a single-story house or a multi-level home, they can adapt their approach to ensure the foundation is both strong and stable.
Preventing Foundation Problems with Early Intervention
Many foundation problems are caused by poor planning or inadequate site preparation. Residential piling contractors prevent these issues by conducting thorough soil analysis and using the best piling techniques from the outset. This early intervention prevents common problems such as subsidence, water pooling, and cracking, which can result from improper foundation work.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
The foundation is the base that supports the entire home. If it’s compromised, the rest of the structure is at risk. Residential piling contractors in Sydney use durable materials like reinforced concrete, steel, and timber piles to create a foundation that can withstand the test of time. They also take into account factors like water tables, soil erosion, and seismic activity, ensuring the foundation remains stable throughout the years.
Faster and More Efficient Construction
Residential piling contractors specialise in foundation work, meaning they are highly efficient at what they do. With the right tools and equipment, they can complete the piling process quickly, reducing the overall construction timeline. This allows you to move forward with the rest of your build without unnecessary delays.
Conclusion
A strong foundation is the cornerstone of any home, and hiring experienced residential piling contractors in Sydney is essential for ensuring that your house is built on a secure base. Their expertise in soil conditions, customised solutions, and use of durable materials means that your home will be safe, stable, and long-lasting. Don’t overlook the importance of your home’s foundation—invest in professional piling services to ensure your project’s success.

Strata maintenance requirements in Sydney : Accord Property
Strata cleaning businesses have become an important part of strata buildings that are used for either commercial or residential properties. Initially adopted as a convenient way for businesses around the world to oversee the entire maintenance of their property, this concept has become more than common. As such, the maintenance requirements needed for the upkeep of strata properties have also changed.
With the structures of strata properties becoming more complex, the need for professional cleaning services is now a must. A professional strata cleaning business offers a range of services that you can employ to keep your strata well-maintained, allowing you to provide the best conditions for your residents or occupants.
This blog post focuses on the services that strata cleaning businesses can provide—aside from traditional services—to meet today’s needs.
1. Emergency exit cleaning
The Building Code of Australia has several mandates when it comes to emergency or fire exits in any building. As a strata property, it’s important that you know the most common and vital ones, but it’s impossible to know everything.
One of the most common and widely-known requirements is that emergency and fire exits need to be clear without obstruction. While this may be perhaps the most widely-known mandate, other components need to be considered, and a strata cleaning business can help you.
Aside from being obstruction-free, strata properties also need to keep in mind that if an emergency takes place, tenants or occupants may hurry down stairwells. Then, if the stairs or railings aren’t well-maintained or are slippery and don’t have rough friction, someone could potentially slip and fall, causing injuries and problems you could have avoided if there was thorough maintenance involved.
All these factors need to be considered—emergency exit cleaning services can help you identify your problems and offer the right solutions.
2. Car park cleaning
It’s reasonable to assume that most residents or occupants will have a car, so you’ll need a car park for them as well as guests, clients, and other visitors. This implies that the importance of your strata property’s parking lot is equal to that of the strata property itself.
As many people concentrate on keeping a clean strata property, occasionally the upkeep of the surrounding areas is neglected. Your strata property, gardens, lawns, swimming pools, and other common areas are as vital as the parking lot.
In addition, the cleaning processes required will vary depending on the material utilised in your parking lot. This is why it’s important to ensure that your parking spaces are also attended to since it’s one of the first places that visitors and guests will see.
Car parks can be a great way to make a good first impression, so you should make the most out of the opportunities you have.
3. Air vent cleaning
The air vents are a significant area that can also impact the standard of living or occupancy. It’s important to have adequate ventilation. However, over time, air vents may need to be thoroughly cleaned.
Businesses that offer strata cleaning can assist you in maintaining clean air and ensuring the satisfaction of your residents or tenants.
Furthermore, any trash, dust, or even animal waste can lead to a hazardous living environment, especially if your tenants have respiratory conditions like asthma.
A cleaning company can not only assist you in enhancing your existing air quality and the quality of your vents, but they can also ensure that they are kept in good condition year-round so you won’t have to worry about putting your renters in an unsafe situation.
4. Swimming pool cleaning
Residential strata complexes are among the many companies that frequently contract out swimming pool cleaning work. There is nothing wrong with this because swimming pool cleaning must be done by a qualified professional.
However, if you employ strata cleaning services, you won’t need to separately spend on your pool cleaning needs. Swimming pool cleaning is only one of the many cleaning services that strata cleaning companies provide, so you won’t have to worry about using multiple providers for various cleaning and maintenance needs.
Swimming pools, which are frequently used by renters, can be kept free of germs and bacteria by strata cleaners.
Depending on the usage, you can create a cleaning schedule that can be anywhere from once every two days to once a week. Strata cleaning businesses will work with you to make sure you get the services you need without compromising.
Services offered by strata cleaning services that facilitate today’s strata maintenance requirements in Sydney
Strata properties differ from one another. Whether commercial or residential, they require extensive analysis and thorough maintenance.
Therefore, it is best to hire a professional strata building management company that offers a range of services under one roof. Not only is this more convenient for you but it also ensures the safety of your occupants is in the best hands.
