Sustainability
In the brief given by Northshore, Sustainability is a key factor that they are looking for, they wish to take a ‘Light Touch’ strategy with this site and reuse as much of the available materials and infrastructure as possible.
The main resources available are:
The pier
The old storage Tank
A large supply of wood from the old dock infrastructure
Wind
Light
Large Grass areas
Metal waste around the site
Deteriorating concrete infrastructure
Metal Rail lines
A similar project in Sydney ‘Ballast Point Park’ faced a similar brief and criteria for sustainability and reuse of site materials.
As well as using their own site-specific materials, the designers also incorporated materials destined for landfill and diverted them towards their own project. (Toland et al, 2018)
Ballast Point park also integrated further sustainability measures into their design and added wind turbines.

Concluding my essay.
This essay gives an overview over the structures, prerequisites and results of urban development under the aspect of combining art, architecture and nature. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between art in the form of sculpture parks, as these shape the city in a special way in the centres or peripheral areas of which they are located. The second focus of the essay is on the relationship between architecture and nature as this is essential for the survival of future cities struggling with climate change and traffic problems.
Sculpture parks in their present form are being created in America since 1930 and have been popular in Europe since the 1950s. The close connection between nature and architecture reaches far back in history. This essay describes recent developments. The essay shows tendencies how a future city can be transformed into an environment worth living in for many people, due to the interaction of nature and art.

And, ahead of the October 8 qualifier with Ukraine, she insists there is no added pressure from the FAI.
She said: “On the importance of qualification, it’s not only important, it’s crucial.
“Any country who have qualified for a finals showed the development of the game is jumping ahead and cannot be stopped any more.
“It’s crucial for a national team to qualify for a finals. We will do everything to get there. We have to qualify. The management did not put that as a mandate. The aim is to qualify, the mandate is to grow.”
A encouraging start against Ukraine could be crucial with second spot in the group getting either a play-off or automatic qualification for the finals in England.
The Hollander added: “The realistic situation is we fight with Ukraine for second place. Realistically, Germany will be first.”
IRELAND SQUAD: Hourihan (SC Braga), Maloney (Reading), Brosnan (West Ham); Scott (Birmingham City), Keenan (Celtic), Caldwell (SC Sand), Walsh (Peamount Utd), O’Riordan (MSV Duisburg), Quinn (Arsenal), Nolan (University of Hartford), Campbell (Manchester City); Fahey (Liverpool), Connolly (Brighton), O’Sullivan (North Carolina Courage), Roche (CF Florentia), Toland (Manchester City), Mustaki (Shelbourne); Payne (Florida State University), Kiernan (West Ham), Barret (FC Koln), Jarrett (Wexford Youths), McCabe (Arsenal), Russell (Sydney University).

The Pool: Architecture, Culture and Identity, curated by Sydney-based Isabelle Toland and Amelia Holliday of Aileen Sage Architects with Michelle Tabet,  premiered at the Venice Architecture Biennale last year, reaching over 100,000 visitors.
Now safely transported and re-installed in Melbourne’s CBD (no mean feat!), the exhibition is an interactive, multi-sensory installation of water, light, scent and sound. Visitors are invited to lounge on the wooden decking, dip their toes in the water and even have a splash! Meanwhile, a soundscape featuring the voices of prominent Australians – including writers Anna Funder and Christos Tsiolkas, Olympians Ian Thorpe and Shane Gould, musician Paul Kelly, Indigenous art curator Hetti Perkins, Environmentalist Tim Flannery, and designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales of Romance Was Born – reveals personal reflections on the cultural importance of the iconic Australian pool.
‘The Pool’ explores the social, cultural and historical significance of pools in Australia,’ explains co-curator Amelia Holliday. ‘From the spiritual significance of natural pools that have been revered and respected over 60,000 years of culture, through to constructed pools: on the coast, in the city, in the middle of the desert, and those proposed for the near future.’
Housed right on the edge of Flinders Street, with natural light streaming in, The Pool will look out onto the traffic and buzz of central Melbourne. ‘Visitors can either tune in to the voices in the space and what they have to say, or just tune out and enjoy a moment relaxing by the water,’ Amelia explains. ‘Something we are very passionate about, as architects, is to ensure that architecture and design is seen and discussed in the broader context of culture and the environment. “The Pool” is a project about place and people, and how architecture fits within that.’
The Pool: Architecture, Culture and Identity August 18th 2017 to February 2018 The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia Federation Square, Flinders St and Russell Street, Melbourne. Free entry

Australian miners strike against Glencore cost | CFMEU
An industrial dispute over workplace agreements at Glencore's Oaky North coal mine near Rockhampton in Queensland has now spanned six weeks. The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union , which covers the mines, held mass meetings of Glencore workers last week in the Hunter Valley town of Singleton. Federal Court Justice Geoffrey Flick on Wednesday found CFMEU NSW secretary Mr Parker and other union officials co-erced workers into unlawful strikes that saw about 1000 construction workers walk off the job at the $6 billion Barangaroo project. The CFMEU would have the power to appeal licensing of labour hire firms Picture: David Geraghty.
The CFMEU has warned the Victorian government to pay attention to unions or risk disruption to major infrastructure projects. The CFMEU said it had spoken with police before the rally, but there would "certainly" be traffic disruptions. Dave Noonan, the national secretary of the CFMEU's construction division, said the website stated that a union representative could hold talks with workers only during meal times or other breaks.Rates debate rages at community meeting. Two senior Victorian CFMEU officials will need to wait until August to find out if blackmail charges against them will proceed.
Thousands of CFMEU members have gathered at Roma Street Parklands chanting for a fair go slamming the Turnbull Government's ABCC for taking from their families. The CFMEU's proposal put to Glencore would roll over the existing agreement for two years with no pay increases, with a sign-on bonus to be included and roster changes implemented. In Melbourne, workers protesting the reintroduction of the Australian Building and Construction Commission say 330 workers died when it was last in place. POLICE have released an image of a ute with stolen numberplates seen near the CFMEU's Carlton headquarters on the night it was shot up. The CFMEU's Swanston Street, Carlton, office was shot at just after 3am on December 21, shattering a door but no one was injured. Street in Sydney and Flinders St in Melbourne flooded with yellow and orange.
