Normal words did not leave her mouth though and she responded with song, Nash and Echion joined her in a dance line and they spun with their hands doing jazz hands -- her best friends in killing and monster hunting alike.

1: Compliment your writing!

this is tricky because i am my own biggest hater BUT i think the one thing i consistently like about my own stuff is the banter/sense of humour i put in there. it's very rare i reread my own stuff and go 'ok that banter was a bit of a flop'. which makes sense since fundamentally i write most of my stuff as wish fulfilment for Myself so you would HOPE i'd make myself laugh but you know! more recently i've really started to like the way i write tension / the tension of the unspoken. I'm kind hating everyone in this fandom that has the courage to defend that book and some of the characters, and I dont want this to happen. I used to just have my own opinions and dont care for ppl who thought differently, but now Im experiencing some wild (and unhelthy) feeling and I blame SJM for that! I desperately need a book to make me forget acotar serie existed

I get how you feel. Normally, I subscribe to the Oscar Wilde school of thought on books and morality--it is not the author's job to teach you right from wrong, and books aren't good or bad, they are well or poorly written. However, SJM's themes are repetitive enough that it is obvious this is what she thinks a loving relationship is. A guy who stands at the top of the stairs mocking his love interest for falling down.

I don't hate on anyone for liking "problematic" content. You can like whatever you like, and you don't owe me or anyone else an explanation. I like The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Lord knows that is neither morally upstanding nor is it good writing. But I still like them!

What is upsetting to me, however, is the fact that SJM keeps touting this as a healthy recovery arc, and we're clearly supposed to praise Nesta for altering her bone structure instead of Cassian just...getting a vasectomy, we're supposed to be angry at her for giving Feyre autonomy over her own body instead of being angry with Rhys and Madja for ever taking it away in the first place, etc.

What is more distressing to me is just how much people are buying into it.

And yeah, it, like TVD, is not only morally bereft, it is badly written. And there's no Joseph Morgan or Phoebe Tonkin for me to stare at.

I actually enjoy analyzing books, but I also think it's time to find something else to project myself onto. Like with Harry Potter. Just...time to find a better book.

Here are some series I really loved growing up or recently! I would love recommendations for new ones!

1. The Mediator series, Meg Cabot - 16 year old Suze Simon moves from NY to California with her mother to live with her new step-family. When she gets to her bedroom, there's already someone there--a ghost, Jesse de Silva, who died in this house 150 years ago. Luckily, Suze has been dealing with ghosts her whole life, so she knows what to do.

2. His Fair Assassin trilogy, Robin LaFevers - Ismae, Sybella, and Annith are all students at the convent of St. Mortain in fifteenth century Brittany, serving their father, Death. Under the guidance of the god and convent, they fight to protect their duchess and country from the French.

3. Vampire Academy series, Richelle Mead - Rose Hathaway, a half vampire, is tasked with guarding her best friend, full vampire, Lissa Dragomir. They are found out while on the run by Dimitri Belikov, who brings them back to school on the queen's orders.

i meant to post this yesterday when i saw some discussion on whether anne of cleves’s birthday was really on september 22nd and the answer is, no probably not! okay here we go, from heather darsie

There is debate as to Anna of Cleves’s true date of birth. As far back as 1844 in English sources, Anna’s date of birth has been given as 21 or 22 September in either 1515 or 1516. Agnes Strickland gave Anna’s date of birth as 22 September 1516 in Volume II of her Lives of the Queens of England, published in the mid 1800′s, citing part 1 of Royal Genealogies by James Anderson and published in 1732. Anderson simply gives Anna’s date of birth as being in 1516, with no citation. Anderson also incorrectly gives that Sybella was born in 1510, when she was born in 1512. Willhelm’s exact date of birth is correctly stated, but Amalia is not listed at all. Thus, it seems there is no reliable primary source stated by either Anderson or Strickland to show Anna’s true date of birth. Strickland also relies on Maur-Francois Dantine’s L’Art de Verifier les Dates, published in Paris in the early 18th century. It gives the correct year of birth for Sybella, and gives Anna’s birth as 22 September 1515 with no citiation to any source. Neither Wilhelm’s or Amalia’s dates of birth given, but the correct years of Anna’s Wilhelm’s and Amalia’s deaths are given.

The archives in Germany do not possess any documentation about the birth of Anna. It is possible that the documents showing it have been lost. When looking at whether Anna was born in June or September, the June date is more likely for several reasons. First, one primary source that does exist, Die Chronik des Johan Wasseberch, or Chronicle of Johan Wassenberch, is recognized as contemporary source for events in the Lower Rhine area between 1492 and 1517, when Wassenberch suddenly stops writing. It is though Wassenberch died of plague in October of 1517, as there was an outbreak around this time. A review of other dates pertinent to Anna’s family, such as the marriage of her parents, and births of her older sister Sybella and brother Wilhelm, correctly corresponded with other known dates in the Chronicle of Johan Wassenberch. Here are Wassenberch’s entries for 21 and 22 of September 1515

In the same year of 1515 on St Matthew’s day [21 September] a farm was rented to Arnt Endrick Averlanck and his wife Druthyen. They were to transfer their slaughter of 1 1/2 gold guldens annually to the knights of Hospitaller in Duisburg. Already on Martinius’s day [22 September] they began to mark the pigs with brands

Such as the events of note for Anna’s parents in September 1515. Second there is the timing off Anna’s birth and her brother Wilhelm’s birth. In the 16th century, a catholic mother went through a sort of purification process after the birth of a child. The mother was not reintroduced to society until approximately a month after the birth. The mother could not lie with her husband during that period. If Anna was born in late September 1515, her mother would not have become pregnant until around November 1515. For Wilhelm to be born in late July 1516, Anna’s mother would had to conceive immediately in November 1515. It also means Wilhelm was born at least a month or so premature. This is certainly all possible, though a late June date of birth for Anna means that her mother could start conceiving as early as September 1515, resulting in Wilhelm being a full term birth. This seems a more probable timeline for the birth of Anna and subsequent birth of Wilhelm.

Finally There is at least one 19th century German secondary source that gives and earlier birth month for Anna. Specifically, Part IV of the Zeitschrift des Bergischen Geschichtsverein published at Bonn in 1867 gives Anna’s date of birth at 1 July 1515. When taking into consideration the primary source, births of Anna’s siblings, Catholic tradtion and German secondary sources, there is ample support for Anna’s true date of birth being earlier than September 1515, on 28 June 1515 at the earliest and 1 July 1515 at the latest.

One is for Wizards (anyone regardless of race can to here to study to be a Witch or a Wizard) and a school for Magical beings, this school has mostly magical and mythical beings but some humans who have mixed blood in them attend as well. Both are boarding schools but the Wizard one has a uniform while the magical being one does not. the reason why most of them are in high school is because I love the highschool setting dymanic. its mainly because I kept setting them as high schoolers and then in my head i was like “DUDE WHAT IF THEY ALL WENT TO THE SAME SCHOOL”

It's rather easy, maneuvering the predator before her into her trap. A few anonymous messages, a few whispers here and there, and slowly he had built his own damnation. It is a delightful job, and one she is sure the Sybella she knows would appreciate. Perhaps, if the former witch remembered her, they would be able to catch up in the future. If not, well, she had been rather bored recently, perhaps she should endeavor to make new friendships, based on old memories.

Finding that the Sybella she had once known was the Sybella at Flirt was rather interesting, so of course she planned it so she could meet the demon in the middle of her case just to make thinks more interesting.

“Oh, definitively, but he hasn’t reached that point yet, and my job is to catch him in enough trouble that he never does,” she informs her with amusement. “All in a good days work.”

Time often existed in and outside of itself, she shouldn’t be running into old familiar faces from a long begone Era – Sybella came from the ancient city of Babylon and the only memories that the Inferno hadn’t stolen came when she closed her eyes and concentrated hard on where she use to be and who she use to be – was the scent of fresh flowers and greenery for miles to see, long tendrils of ivy covered the hanging gardens and marble steps led to an abundance of plants and trees and she could hear the sound of silver resounding off each other in a rhythmic manner that came from the beading of her dress as she danced wildly in the streets. Yet there was a sense of knowing that surrounded the Fallen Angel, as if they met long ago, in a time long before this where they spilt blood and rebelled against the natural order of things.

Sybella hoped she didn’t wait to long to bring him in, girls have gone missing from the club and not by her hand. Trust NPC: Shining Comet

Initial Unlock 

Upon arriving in the First, Shining will be one of your first companions picked up. She hangs around the Wandering Stairs, and offers her shield or bow to you, saying she’d like to help. A native of the Source, she talks to you about the differences of music between the First and the Source, as well as asks for news about how home is doing. She’s lived in the First for approximately 4 years. 

Shining is capable of taking any role the party needs, though she has a preference to tank and place herself at the front lines. If she’s not tanking, you might see text boxes above her character that say how she would have tanked something better.

Selection: “Chose the professional, huh?” 

Job:  Trained as a Free Paladin in Ul’dah for a few years, she has a Paladin’s Soul and access to many of their abilities. Differences are mostly cosmetic, with Passage of Arms being red aetheric wings, instead of blue.

Weapons:  Ritter Shield and Molybdenum Longsword. The Shield was a gift from her mothers, spelled to reflect spells, up to ~a Fire 3 spell. It has flowers and is engraved with names of her ancestors.

AI Behavior:  Tank: A+ tank. Will not lose aggro, will actively use cooldowns as they come up, and does her best to mitigate any damage that the party might suffer. Actively uses reprisal, divine veil, cover, anything that will help. If the healer isn’t doing well, she will use Clemency to try and help out. If a wandering mob gets pulled, or someone pulls something, she will automatically pick it up with a “Hey, watch it!” Avoids aoes if she can, but if there’s a choice of avoiding an aoe or turning the boss onto the dps/healer, she’ll get hit.

Battle Lines: Engaging Enemy - “Hey stupid, over here!”  Skill Use 1 (Common) - “Ancestors shield me!”  Skill Use 2 (Common) - [no line spoken, but she sings an aria]  Skill Use 3 (Rare/Cooldown) - “I have this in the bag, don’t worry.”  Assist - “Watch out now, can’t have you getting hurt.”

Limit Break:  Shield of Song: Shining’s shield flies up into the air, and glows brightly, becoming ten times it’s size. The runes on the edge glow, and every party member is shielded by music bars that have the runes in place of music notes. 

Level 1: “Watch out!”   Level 2: “Brace yourselves!”  Level 3 (Shield of Song): “Ancestors on high, protect my friends!” 

Defeated Common - “Damn it, not again…!”  Rare - “Here’s hoping…”

Revived Common - “Thanks, sorry about that!”  Rare - “Why can’t it just take already.”

Selection: “My songs are yours.” 

Job: Primarily using a bow, Shining focuses more on singing and buffing allies through her song than doing damage, earning her the title of Songstress, though her damage is decent. Her buffs are extremely powerful, and is best paired with a melee dps. 

Weapons: A yew longbow, almost as tall as she is, made of thick sturdy wood. Its seen many years of use, and is completely spirit bonded to Shining.

AI behavior:  Her dps is a bit low, all things considered. She buffs people more than doing her own damage, though she does have high burst. Will occasionally get caught in aoes because she forgets that she’s not wearing armor. Will prioritize doing mechanics over dpsing, though because she’s ranged she’s able to dps fairly well. 

Battle Lines:  Engaging Enemy: “Here we go again...”  Skill Use 1 (Common) - "Hope I stocked enough arrows for this one!”   Skill Use 2 (Common) - [no line spoken, but she sings a song]  Skill Use 3 (Rare/Cooldown) -  “You don’t deserve the effort I’m putting in to kill you.”  Assist - “Careful, don’t want your song to fade out now.” 

Limit Break: Level 1 - “Eh, might as well.” Level 2 - “Will you just die already?”  Level 3 (Sagittarius Arrow) - “Return to the Lifestream!”

(Defeat and Revival lines are unchanged from Paladin) 

Unlockable Class

Selection: “

Job: Post Shadowbringers, Shining issues a quest to find out what she was doing in all her years in the First. She’s teased and hinted at various escapades, but the questline shows you that she was a traveling witch. She helped out many people, including a Crystarium Guard named Sybella, whom she shares several flirtatious lines. 

Uses the Scholar animations, but instead of a fairy she has an elemental sprite next to her, giving her the title of Sprite-Charmer of the Wilds. The element of said sprite changes depending on which area or dungeon you go into. 

Weapons: A weathered old songbook, full of hymns and prayer-songs from her home village. In the bars and lines of music lie spells, enchantments, and charms.

AI Behavior: Warns you right off the bat that her healing isn’t the best (though mechanically she’ll never let you get below 30% or so.) Her sprite takes care of quite a lot of healing, and she uses spells to provide barriers and preventative healing. Very, very, very occasionally her sprite is replaced by a Puff of Darkness minion, and functions as her Void sprite. 

Said sprite has buffs that change with each element. Wind gives a haste;  Fire gives a general damage buff; Earth gives a slight shield that she can stack on; while Lightning causes abilities to have a 10% haste in recast timers; Water is a refresh MP buff; Ice increases critical hit rate. She also has access to Void and Holy sprites, and they use abilities at random. 

Battle Lines: Engaging Enemy: “Kill it quickly, please.”   Skill Use 1 (Common) - "Sprite, work!”  Skill Use 2 (Common) - [no line spoken, but she hums a tiny cheerful tune] Skill Use 3 (Rare/Cooldown) -  “Probably should’ve called the fae in for this one...”  Assist - “Hey, are you alright? Let me just--” [she casts a healing spell on you]

Defeat Common: “No, wait, wait...!”  Rare: “Sibbie, I ... I’m sorry...” 

Revived Common: “No one saw that, did they?”  Rare: “Just... give me a minute.”
