Recurring Swype nightmare:

The word I tend to overuse constantly and sometimes wind up with like two or three times in the same sentence is "actually", but when I type "actually" using Swype, about 50% of the time it decides I meant to say "scrotal" even though I don't think I've ever actually used Swype to type that word before making this post. So one day, I'm sure I'm going to proofread something I typed on my phone badly and post something that just has "scrotal" randomly in the middle of it somewhere

Today my swype keyboard stopped working and it might be the worst day of my life lol at how Mr topping goes without it FC in mm mit die Höhe ohne Sex of swapped to German *I'm not sure how intelligible this will be but!

If anyone has suggestions for android keyboards (or a way to make swype work with android 14) then please let me know!

i had a similar idea years ago where i started having casters 'write out' their class names in the air as if they were using the Swype keyboard.

I think I still have the old pics I made for them. here we go:

the original thought might've been to do the full spell name, but I only ended up drawing/using these ones, for simplicity's sake.

Wizards make all those funny hand gestures because they're selecting the spell from a terrible UI

my phone keyboard app, swype, which was abandoned by the people who made it in 2018, finally stopped being compatible with new android os updates leaving me to scramble to find a new one and it is astonishing how bad every single alternative is by comparison. this app which hasn't been updated for six years was still so much more precise and accurate, had an actual fucking tab key, a better way to do punctuation, the ability to easily add words to the dictionary (like...c'mon guys), didn't flip back and forth on whether or not to add spaces after words, didn't plug my data into some AI, and actually had completely normal and harmless words like 'sex' in its default dictionary (C'MON GUYS). all of these are issues I've seen with other keyboards I've tried and most of the recommended ones I've looked up are now gone. as someone who writes almost exclusively on my phone, this fucking blows

peeps who use a swipe style phone keyboard, what do you use and what do you like about it? mine keeps not actually deleting misspelled words from its suggestions and I want rid of it.
