‘Golden Feathers’, an Indian startup, upcycles chicken butchery waste into ‘wool-like’ fibre

Radhesh Agrahari is the founder of ‘Golden Feathers’, which upcycles chicken butchery waste into a ‘wool-like’ fibre and handmade paper. Using this waste as raw material, the startup manufactures shawls, quilts, stoles, diaries, fish feed and manure.

What started as a classroom project 13 years ago at the prestigious Indian Institute of Crafts and Design in Jaipur, is now a sustainable business working with 1,200 tribal women of Rajasthan who weave and spin the waste into fibre.

“Firstly, we collect waste from slaughterhouses and then we sterilise and sanitise it in a hygienic way using 100 degrees steam process to kill the various worms present in the waste. Using our patented technology, we use natural ingredients to process the waste into wool-like fibre which is similar to pashmina,” he says.

“Feathers themselves are lightweight and using that, we are able to make natural wool-like fibre similar to cotton, jute, wool, and silk. This woollen fibre is soft, warm and durable,” he adds.

For this purpose, Radhesh says he has trained 1,200 tribal women of Rajasthan who weave and spin the waste into fibre. Feathers which are not good for spinning are used to make handmade paper or converted into fillers for quilts, jackets, and pillows. In this process, the byproduct of chicken butchery waste is converted into compost and fish feed.

The company units are established in Jaipur and Pune. According to him, they sell the products in B2B business, generating an annual revenue of Rs 1.5 crore. So far, the startup has claimed to have diverted 73 lakh kg of chicken butchery waste from polluting the environment.

For his work, Radhesh has received at least 25 national and international level awards, including The German Design Award, Lexus Design Award, and Swachhata Startup Award.

“Personally, the journey from being a designer to an innovator has been extremely fulfilling for me. I always strived to do impact-driven work and received many awards and recognition for it. We are working at a small level but wish to expand this pan India,” he shares.

One journey, four brave women!

Star cast of Dhak Dhak Film Plot: This film tells the story of a girl who collaborates with another Youtuber and social influencer to run a popular channel. However, things take a dramatic turn when her partner does something questionable, ultimately leading her to leave him. Consequently, her subscribers count starts dropping quickly. Furthermore, without her partner, people stop taking her seriously. Therefore, determined to regain her fame and rebuild her channel, she comes up with a bold plan. But will her strategy work? Moreover, what caused her partner to act in a way that made her leave? You'll have to see the movie to find out. The film's theme is an adventure drama set on the road. The film's entertainment value is intended to convey the message that one should follow one's intuition and not suppress one's desires. Characters and Acting: Fatima Sana Shaikh does a fantastic job portraying “Sky” in this role. She is playing a completely different role. She has performed her role flawlessly. It's always difficult to work on a movie with a unique plot, and it's rewarding to play a difficult role and give it her all. The performance of Ratna Pathak Shah in the part of “Mahi” is also excellent. She gives off the impression that she is portraying a real-life character. You won't be able to spot any imperfections in her performance and has performed so flawlessly. Dia Mirza's portrayal of “Uzma” is appropriate for the part. Despite having few opportunities, she performed admirably in what she did have. Additionally, Sanjana Sanghi's performance as “Manjari” is mediocre. She appears stunning in the movie. The film was directed by Tarun Dudeja. He wrote Unpaused(2020) and Jugaadistan(2022) prior to helming this movie. This is his first directorial effort, and he has already demonstrated his abilities. It was difficult to direct a different kind of story differently, but he took on the challenge and was mostly successful. Though he took a chance by making a film focused on women, he could have chosen to use a hero rather than a heroine for the characters in this story. The characters in the movie give us the impression that we are watching real people. The characters have shaped by everyone's acting. Story Screenplay & Dialogues: The tale of “Parijat Joshi” and “Tarun Dudeja” are, indeed, very dissimilar. Furthermore, the film has been distinctively shot, which adds a unique charm. Additionally, the screenplay is good; however, it might have been a bit stronger in certain parts. Moreover, the conversations are not only hilarious but also fantastic, adding to the film's overall appeal. “Sreechith Vijayan Damodar” has good cinematography. There are some really well-filmed scenes. The aerial view scenes have expertly filmed. The Editor, “Manish Sharma” the movie could have been a bit shorter, but it's still fine. At times, the movie drags and is dull. “Manas Chaudhary” has good sound design. “Abdul Aziz Khokhar” has a good action. “Anurag Saikia” has a good background score that fits the movie's theme. Songs and music are also acceptable. “Natasha Vohra” designed the costumes based on the narrative and characters. “Nilesh Eknath Wagh” is a good production designer for a reason. Conclusion: It's a good film. Viewpoint: One-time viewing those who enjoy viewing these kinds of adventure movies. Rating: 6/10 Defects Making Manjri join the group is inexplicable; why a group of just four people formed? Due to its double meaning dialogue, children younger than eighteen should not watch the film with their parents.
