Have you ever actually been friends with someone who put in a surround sound system? Maybe someone who has one that doesn't work and they are just a little too lazy to deal with it, but those guys who actually bought and installed one?

Those people are an actual mystery to me. It's like they live in a different world that I just occasionally visit, just long enough to witness but never long enough to participate in.

Here’s when you should switch to the stereo audio component in Boom 3D

1. We’ve come across some rare but cumbersome audio issues where certain stereo audio is being wrongly detected as 5.1 multichannel audio. Here they are:

The soundtrack gets buried in noise or other ambient audio.

Music plays in bursts and the output is not smooth and continuous.

Boom 3D filters out music and plays only voice. (for example in a movie, you can only hear the background music, and the dialogue is subdued.

Here’s how you can confirm whether any audio issues you’re experiencing, are related to the above:

Open the Boom dropdown on your Mac’s menu bar.

Check if ‘Multichannel audio’ or ‘Multichannel audio playback’ are mentioned (Refer the screenshots below). If yes, go ahead and switch to the stereo audio component and check whether the audio issues are resolved.

2. Another issue that some users may come across - Certain games that do not support 5.1 audio, crash when used with Boom 3D. The below fix can be used in these cases as well.

How to switch to the stereo audio component for Boom 3D

Open Boom 3D’s main window.

Go to the ‘About’ section from the dropdown menu on the top right-hand corner of Boom 3D.

Click the ‘Use Stereo Audio Component’ button on the bottom left-hand corner.

Click ‘Proceed’ and download the audio component installer from the webpage that opens up.

The installer will then install the stereo component for Boom 3D.
