😍 - 1000 and One Nights 🇲🇦 Actually, there are only 7 but they really are intense. 🤙🏼 We have arrived in the Orient. We immediately fell in love with the people, the land and the waves. In the morning, we watch the camels 🐫 slowly moving on the beach, then we go surfing 🏄‍♂️ and lastly listen to the muezzin calling for evening prayers while enjoying the sunset on the horizon. Out of respect, we pause briefly, then return to our cool drink 🍻 and philosophize about life and waves. Two dads on an excursion, without any obligations for a few days, soaked in the intoxication of the adventure, we refuel energy and strength to be able to serve our dearest ones at home again with love and dedication. Morocco we have learned to love this part of the world. We tasted the desert sand and satisfied our wanderlust. At least for this short time. We will return soon - with the whole tribe. 😍 Thanks to @psycho_surf_camp for the great hospitality and the awesome time with you. 🙏🏼 You made us feel like being home. . . . . . #morocco #morocco🇲🇦 #taghazout #bananapoint #agadir #surf #surfing #surfinglife #surfingislife #surfingeveryday #surfmorocco #holiday #travelling #fernweh #fernwehlove #wanderlust #orient (hier: Tamraght) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnWf36SsRjo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Discover the Ultimate St Ives Surfing Beach Experience: Your Perfect Holiday Plan
Tumblr media
Why St Ives is a Surfer's Paradise
St Ives, nestled along the rugged Cornish coastline, is a veritable surfer's paradise that beckons wave enthusiasts from across the globe. With its pristine beaches and consistent swells, this charming seaside town offers an unparalleled surfing experience. Porthmeor Beach, the crown jewel of St Ives surf spots, boasts some of the best waves in Cornwall, catering to surfers of all skill levels. The beach's unique orientation allows it to catch swells from multiple directions, ensuring excellent surf conditions throughout the year.
Beyond Porthmeor, the surrounding Cornish coastline is peppered with hidden coves and lesser-known breaks, providing endless opportunities for adventure and exploration. Whether you're a seasoned pro seeking challenging reef breaks or a beginner looking to catch your first wave, St Ives has something for everyone.
The town's vibrant surf culture, coupled with its stunning natural beauty, creates an atmosphere that's simply irresistible to surf enthusiasts. So grab your board and head to St Ives you'll soon discover why it's hailed as one of the UK's premier surfing destinations.
Planning Your Surf Trip: When to Visit St Ives
When planning your surf trip to St Ives, timing is everything. The best time to surf in this Cornish paradise largely depends on your skill level and preferences. For consistent waves and milder weather, aim for the peak surfing months of September to November. During this period, you'll encounter favourable swells and fewer crowds, making it ideal for both beginners and seasoned surfers alike.
However, don't discount the off-season surfing opportunities in St Ives. Winter months, from December to February, offer the most powerful waves for experienced surfers seeking a challenge. Just be prepared for chilly temperatures and the need for a quality wetsuit.
St Ives weather plays a crucial role in your surfing experience. Summer (June to August) brings warmer temperatures and gentler waves, perfect for novices or those looking to combine surfing with other holiday activities. Keep in mind that this is also the busiest tourist season, so beaches may be more crowded.
Ultimately, the surf season in Cornwall extends year-round, each period offering unique advantages. Whether you're after consistent swells, powerful waves, or a balance of surfing and sunbathing, St Ives has something to offer in every season. Plan your visit based on your surfing goals, and you're sure to have an unforgettable experience in this picturesque coastal town.
Essential Gear for Your St Ives Surfing Adventure
When planning your surfing adventure in St Ives, having the right gear is paramount to ensure a thrilling and safe experience. For beginners, we recommend starting with a high-quality wetsuit from local surf shops like St Ives Surf School or Shore Surf Shop. These establishments offer expert advice and a range of options suitable for Cornwall's waters.
Surfboard rental is readily available for those not looking to invest in their own equipment just yet. Many local surf schools provide boards tailored to your skill level, ensuring you have the perfect match for your abilities. For more advanced surfers, consider bringing your own board or exploring the premium selection at Ann's Cottage Surf Shop for cutting-edge gear.
Don't forget essential accessories like a surf leash, wax, and a rash guard. These items are crucial for comfort and safety, regardless of your experience level. By equipping yourself with the right gear, you'll be well-prepared to tackle the waves and make the most of your St Ives surfing adventure.
Top Surf Schools and Lessons in St Ives
When it comes to catching waves in St Ives, you're spoilt for choice with top-notch surf schools and lessons. The St Ives Surf School stands out as a premier option, offering a range of services from beginner surf lessons to advanced private coaching. Their experienced instructors ensure you'll be riding the waves in no time, regardless of your skill level.
For those seeking a more personalised experience, private coaching sessions are available, allowing you to hone your technique with undivided attention from a pro. If you prefer a social atmosphere, group classes provide an excellent opportunity to meet fellow surf enthusiasts whilst learning the ropes.
Fancy a more immersive experience? Surf camps in St Ives offer multi-day programmes that combine accommodation, lessons, and plenty of time in the water. These camps are perfect for visitors looking to fully embrace the surfing lifestyle during their stay.
Whether you're a complete novice or looking to polish your skills, St Ives' surf schools cater to all abilities. With state-of-the-art equipment, qualified instructors, and some of the UK's most beautiful beaches as your classroom, you're guaranteed an unforgettable surfing experience in this Cornish paradise.
Beyond Surfing: Other Activities to Enjoy in St Ives
Whilst St Ives is renowned for its world-class surfing, there's a treasure trove of activities awaiting visitors beyond the waves. Embark on breathtaking coastal walks along the South West Coast Path, where rugged cliffs and azure waters create a stunning backdrop. Art enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with the town's numerous galleries, including the iconic Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Museum.
Foodies, prepare your taste buds for a culinary adventure. St Ives boasts an array of seafood restaurants serving the freshest catch of the day. From quaint harbourside cafes to upscale dining establishments, there's something to satisfy every palate.
For a change of perspective, hop aboard a boat trip to explore the coastline from the sea. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, dolphins, and even basking sharks during the summer months. These excursions offer a unique vantage point of St Ives' picturesque harbour and surrounding beaches.
With such diverse attractions, St Ives proves itself to be much more than just a surfer's paradise. Whether you're an art lover, foodie, or nature enthusiast, this charming Cornish town has something extraordinary to offer every visitor.
Tips for a Sustainable and Responsible Surf Trip
Planning a surf trip? It's time to ride the wave of sustainability! Embracing eco-friendly surfing practices isn't just a trend; it's a responsibility we all share. Start by choosing accommodation and transport options that minimise your carbon footprint. Once you're at your destination, participate in local beach clean-ups to give back to the coastal communities that welcome you.
Respecting marine life is paramount; keep a safe distance from sea creatures and never disturb their natural habitats. Support local conservation efforts by attending workshops or donating to reputable organisations. When it comes to gear, opt for sustainable surfboards and eco-friendly wetsuits made from recycled materials.
Remember, sustainable travel goes beyond environmental concerns. Immerse yourself in the local culture, support small businesses, and be mindful of your impact on the community. By following these tips, you'll not only have an unforgettable surf experience but also contribute to preserving our oceans for future generations of wave riders.
