hoping that tumblr will let this post go into the tags if i just do a plain text post and that i do not need to try reposting this a fourth time. anyways kiyotaka birthday tweet time!!!! i think this is the first time i’ve posted a translation for an ishimaru birthday tweet? i think i meant to translate last years and started but never got around to finishing, oops….BUT i did do this one in a very timely fashion! if only because this one amused me too much to let it sit too long. here’s the link to kodaka’s original tweet.

disclaimer, i’m not fluent in japanese, so i’m not claiming that this is perfect or potentially not without misunderstandings. i’ve also included some translation notes to clarify some things that i felt needed clarification and to offer explanation as to why i reached the conclusions that i did.

i’ll also have everything under the cut for easier accessibility! i rushed a little to try and get this done in one sitting, so please feel free to point out if there are any major errors.

** This line is a little weird, since there’s probably a few ways to take it. The first part, ダメじゃないか, could probably also be taken in a way to mean “Isn’t this pointless?”, but since Kiyotaka doesn’t actually realize that these are birthday presents at this point, it seems like the wrong way to take it. The second part, 処分対象だぞ, could also be understood along the lines of “It should be disposed of.” I was tempted to translate it this way because I am fairly certain Kodaka has written a similar remark in a Kiyotaka birthday tweet before, but punishment felt more in line with how I interpreted the first part. Additionally, due to the later line being more explicitly about punishment, it seems like it would be incorrect to translate this part any other way. *** Some of this doesn’t quite translate smoothly because it’s not something that can be translated exactly, but the general gist of it is supposed to be understood that Ishimaru is expressing gratefulness for the gifts. I think it’s supposed to be understood as ‘I am taking the punishment over this’ >> ‘Therefore, it is only right that I accept the gifts’ because some of the grammar indicates this is supposed to be his logic/reasoning, but again, this isn’t something that is easy to translate across.

It was weird to think that (m/n), who was not even a player meaning he had more time to study, had failed two subjects and had to take the supplementary exam. Although he denied the offer of riding to Tokyo with Tanaka's sister with Kageyama and Hinata in tow. Daichi didn't give much of a response, only saying he would talk to the (h/c).

Free practice ensued as Karasuno went on with their respective goals, Sugawara and Daichi doing a synchronization attack with the others although Asahi was nowhere to be found.

"Sorry! Got caught up with something." The ace sheepishly entered the gym, looking eager and fresh to hit some sets. Nishinoya glanced behind Asahi to see a panting (h/c) who was all sweaty. "What were you doing, (m/n)? You looked like you did a major workout!" He teased the manager who only scrunched up his nose and limped his way to the rest of the managers.

"Huh? Is he injured or something? Why is he walking like that-" "Don't mind him! The night isn't going to be young forever. Let's practice!" Sugawara cut off Nishinoya's sentence as he pushed the libero towards the court, his eyes flickering to Asahi getting smacked by Daichi.

"See (m/n)! Told you, you would get along with us!" Hinata cheered behind the (h/c), who didn't say a word as he accompanied Hinata to the third gymnasium, where Kuroo and Bokuto is playing as well as Akaashi and Tsukishima. Again, the manager didn't respond as they entered the gym and (m/n) helped them by collecting stray balls and tossing it to Akaashi. Tsukishima would glance at him a few times before getting lectured by the Nekoma captain.

"The others said that we look like we're all getting along, especially you Daichi." The setter spoke as he ignored the crestfallen ace on the floor. "Really? I didn't think there'd be that much of a difference." The captain tapped his chin, his lips pressed into a thin line.

"You were the meanest out of all of us. I guess he was scared of you the most." Asahi propped himself up as he spoke, ignoring the glaring ravenette.

"...he's obedient now. I prefer it that way."

The setter only laughed as he waved them off. "I'm getting dibs on him in the showers. Don't you dare try to join us." He hissed at the two before hopping off to drag Tanaka into another set, leaving Daichi and Asahi to themselves.

If any other normal person would have listened in on their conversation, they would've been creeped out with how normal they spoke as they danced around the topic.

The boy manager of Karasuno, (m/n) (l/n) who has been reduced to a quiet footman for the seniors. Daichi wouldn't say 'reduced' but more to 'tamed'. It was known that the (h/c) is a brash person, especially around people his age but he would watch his mouth more around his upperclassmen...until he gets angry that is.

When Daichi first saw him stumbling through the gym doors, making a scene, he was quite annoyed, reminded of Hinata and Kageyama's first introduction. He thought it would be another rude junior that would ignore him and the obligated seniority but he was impressed to find that he was a reliable manager and an overall pleasant person to be around.

Maybe he was in a bad mood on that specific day, but he wasn't up for playing 'nice' nor welcoming someone new. His players were already a handful, especially the four idiots and he simply lacked the energy to usher someone around in the already socially established club.

Usually, he would apologise the next day, saying his head was clouded but he saw how annoyed (e/c) leered at him whenever (m/n) thought he wasn't looking or the silent curses he would mumble. That ticked him off and he was cold ever since. And when he found out they were neighbours-

"Daichi. Don't you think you're being...malicious to the new manager?"

The captain turned to the long-haired ace. He didn't respond, only raising an eyebrow to Asahi. Sugawara cut in. "What he meant was why are you acting like a little bitch to our new member? Ignoring him and stuff. The others are starting to ask." He teased the ravenette.

Daichi didn't say much, he only stared at his gym shoes and glanced to the (h/c) who was conversing with the second years. He scanned his figure, his eyes wandering a bit too long on his face and frowned. "He's rude." Sugawara wanted to roll his eyes and spite the captain.

Both Asahi and Sugawara immediately turned their heads to the captain who held a nonchalant look, a foreign expression for him, while still staring at (m/n). "...Or to see him cry, at least." "..."

Since it's finals week for me i wanted to ask how viktor prepped for finals at the college of techmaturgy and would he pass with flying colors or cram depending on the subject he was studying for

Oh boy, did he cram! Our purpose in this operation was simple. Retrieve a Harrison Armories NHP Specialist for the purposes of repairing a Seccom Era casket. Currently for the safety of this specialist they are in protective custody and we will be awaiting Union DoJ/HR input before further action.

S.O.G Wheelock deployed the Morningstar team, Brigand for the purposes of this log will be referred to as a member of the Morningstar Team. The squadron will be referred to separately should it be needed.

The team dropped quietly under H.A scanners and breached a relatively uninhabited hangar. Scans indicated a total of 2 civilian deaths and several subaltern damages. CMC will be handing over adequate manna for each civilian death to the DoJ/HR to be brought to the families of the deceased.

Morningstar team then found the quickest route to the civilian muster station and applied intimidation tactics via destroying security subalterns in order to find the NHP Specialist. For the remainder of this report they will be referred to as "Volt". No civilians in the muster station were harmed. Volt was to be brought into CMC custody unharmed.

For a brief overview Longbeard had served under H.A for several years on the Dawnline shore. Longbeard Defected and fled to the Long Rim, settled down before circumstances led to their enlistment with their adoptive child Roadburn.

The team with the intelligence provided by Volt were forced into direct combat with H.A forces. Two commanders and what were later revealed to be several Z Line clones. Both officers were killed in battle. While the team could have chosen to simply extract further the call was made to kill the Lt in a bid to prevent the flash clones from continuing to attack and...

Apologies... And to prevent harm to Volt. Once to the extraction point it was revealed there was a mass cloning operation. \<OperationThreeCandlesDeepPhotoLog.FlashCloningPods>/

The team decided to extract Volt and then destroy the cloning pods. This was not in the original contract but was a choice to prevent further atrocity. It should be noted Volt was threatened when they questioned the purposes of being extracted as well as the task they were required to do. This is not by CMC standards and will be reminded heavily to all further extraction teams. Volt was launched from a ship escape pod and picked up shortly after by S.O.G Wheelock. Volt was given a medical exam and was deemed as healthy with bruising, minor bruising normal from riding shotgun in a mech was expected. Volt was given food, water, and was allowed space to exist without constant supervision.

The team was overwhelmed quickly by several flashclones and the H.A commander of the operation. Longbeard gave several chances for the H.A forces to surrender before calling... C..calling for the other to retreat.

Longbeard utilized the enclave pattern support shield to attempt to detonate several reactor cores as a method of cooking off the fuel lines in the relatively abandoned portion of the ship with the knowledge that most of the ships fail-safes were operational due to the lack of damage done by the team.

It is CMC's recommendation to commend Brigand for attempting to rescue Longbeard from this sacrifice via Intangible HORUS technology.

The flash cloning pods were destroyed and there was minimal civilian loss of life in that portion of the ship. CMC as stated before will be providing reparation costs to Union for them to sort to the families. A total of five reactors cooked off under the support shield. The cascading explosion and fuel lines destroyed a portion of the ship, namely the flash cloning work and a portion of the research labs.

Roadburn then breached via an escape pod and picked up Brigand who had returned to real space and both were picked up by S.O.G Wheelock.

It is the official stance of CMC that while the destruction of the flash cloning facility was not within the terms of the operation it was within conduct with the utopian pillars and was the correct option.
