GOD Wat is such a character I love him so much. Even though he feels lost, confused - out of the prefect trio, he is the least directly involved with all of Suppalo's issues - he still offers Akk and Aye a lifeline. He says it's all an act, defuses the situation. He doesn't forgive Akk straight away - but he's the first to try to fix the situation, try and get them all to talk.
I just - I love him so much.

The Eclipse 🌒 Ep. 3 Events (2/2)
The World Remembers’ Gang protests in the middle of a school hallway. After brief negotiations go nowhere, Akk orders them to be dragged away. As he and the others manhandle the screaming and resisting younger classmen, he and Ayan lock eyes.
When Chadok hears what happened, he rebukes Sani and the Prefect Club (especially Akk) for not handling the situation quicker.
Afterwards, the Prefect Trio hangs out together to process the meeting. Kan encourages Akk to quit his role as President of the Student Prefect Club if “he can’t handle it.” Akk rejects the suggestion and asserts that “He can do it, and he must do it.”
The next day, Akk tries to tail Ayan but is caught by his target. When Ayan accuses him of stalking, Akk brings up their group assignment. Ayan pauses and then responds by inviting Akk over to his house to work on said project. A flustered Akk refuses multiple times, but Ayan skillfully rationalizes with him until Akk is out of excuses. Ayan grab the taller boy’s hand firmly and drags an only semi-resistant Akk over towards his car.
Ayan: Are you scared of being alone with me?
Akk: Scared, my @ss. What can a small guy like you do?
Ayan: Exactly. No need to be scared. Come on.
Seatbelt scene and Akk’s tense shoulders
Ayan strips down to his underwear while Akk stares.
Ayan invites Akk to shower with him.
Ayan showers leisurely and Akk is very distracted.
Akk searches through Ayan’s bag and clothes for the journal but gets caught.
Akk falls asleep while studying with Ayan.
Ayan takes a picture of Akk’s sleeping face and calls him “cute.”
Akk opens his eyes and stares softly at Ayan until waking up fully and panicking at their close proximity.
Akk packs up his things and starts to leave. Ayan invites Akk to stay the night, but Akk refuses because Kan is coming to pick him up.
Akk and Kan complain about Ayan on the drive back. Akk vows he’ll get Ayan to leave the school.
The next day, Akk and Ayan practice Judo again. Akk’s eyes are intense, and once again, he pins Ayan to the mat. However this time, Akk and Ayan stare at each other without words.
*END EPISODE*
A/N: Wow! A lot happens in Ep.3. No wonder it’s one of my favorite Eclipse episodes to rewatch. XD Also, the scenes between the Prefect Trio hit much differently now that I know that Akk is “the insane curse” he and his friends hope to finally escape after graduation and and the one Kan hopes will be “reversed” in time. Akk is carrying a lot of responsibilities and secrets, and he refuses to let go of any of them. If he can’t confide fully in his friends, who can he confide in? Perhaps someone that already knows his weakness and proves he can be trusted. *ahem* Ayan.

This post is somewhat a continuation of my halfway review. [1] [2] [3]
=========================
What makes The Eclipse feels so real (for me) is that it shows authoritarianism in the education system and how it affects all layers of the school community. What's most striking is how the school didn't use the rules to maintain orderliness but to keep its reputation intact and the powerful authorities in place. I tried to see how some parts of the school community were affected by such a system through the names that Ayan put in his board. I think how he put the order of those names was intentional.
Akk
Ayan put Akk's name at the center of his board as the starting point of his thread of investigation while being aware that it's him behind the Suppalo curse. He saw how Akk played with the brake of the van that attacked the World Remembers trio, and then he put together that it might have also been him behind those other accidents he learned about through the Twitter trends before he came to Suppalo. But he also saw how Akk, as the head prefect, represented the most damaged by the archaic school system: the students. Uniformed, both in how they dressed and thought. Repressed by the inflicted fear of the curse and the brainwashing through repeated recitation of the pledge of allegiance. And specifically, for Akk, the pressure of carrying the whole Suppalo reputation on his shoulders.
Nun, Nong, Nian
Apart from the majority of students - tamed, controlled, obedient - represented by Akk, next on Ayan's board are Nun, Nong, and Nian. The World Remembers group, labeled as outcasts by their friends, insists on claiming their right to protest against the uniform rules. Their statement during the protest was clear: "A school is a safe place that welcomes everyone and fosters the culture of advocating basic human rights." Chadok, however, disregarded it as he still considered them to be violating Suppalo's own rules. In this case, the rules were absolute and controlling, superior to the National Education Act, which the group referred to during their protest. Doing these protests, they risked having clashes with their parents, teachers, and friends to stand up and fight for what they think is right. They realized how the century-old Suppalo's rules have been violating the human right of the students, especially regarding their bodies, freedom of self-expression, and possession, as highlighted in the series. They knew somebody would need to start bringing it to the surface and keeping it there for as long as possible for others to be aware as well, and so they took the role. Akk assumed Ayan was someone behind this group and their protests but he never was. Ayan's supportive of them, but kept his distance.
Sani
Sani's name comes right after the World Remembers trio. The new, young, naive, yet the attentive teacher is in a difficult position. She tried to be understanding of all sides. She knew things might be wrong with the school, but she hadn't fully grasped it. She knew she needed to, and did, stand up for the students, but there is more about having so little power and space than she was allowed to move. I understand Ayan's anger with her, an emotion similar to what he had once with Thua, but this time it was more, because he had high expectations as she is a teacher, in the same position as Dika to that, who he might have slightly thought should fully take the students' side more without any compromising. I also understand Sani's frustration with herself. (This is where things get a bit more personal.) Working in the education sector, I know really well how hard it is to break the long-established and corrupted system as depicted in this series, both from the inside and the outside. Being the young, the newbie in such a system, being critical to the faults of it while being highly aware of just how powerless she was in her position. No questioning, no saying no, were ever allowed. The conflicts (as mild as they might seem) she had were not only about a structural hierarchy but also an authoritative position and a culture of seniority, a set of deeply rooted system to fight. Sani's struggle, at least to me, was realistically portrayed. So, I wonder how this series will shape the final arc of her character's development.
Chadok
After Sani, it's Chadok on the board. Once, Chadok said this in a meeting with other teachers about giving Ayan a lesson, "...behind an able man there are always other able men." That statement applies to him as well. I could never move past how disturbing it was for me to hear these. To Akk, "The prefects' duty is to do whatever it takes to make Suppalo remain Suppalo. I hope you don't forget that." Such is the peak of mind game played into Akk's brain by Chadok, all to 'assist him' in keeping the order of Suppalo. And to Sani, "All right then. You deal with them the way you see fit. As for me, I'll deal with them my way." Those were words of no compromise. I have my way, and then, to Akk: and you will abide by it (a one-way order because of the student-teacher hierarchy), while to Sani: and you will not interfere with it (a warning because of the mixture of seniority and being colleagues). Ayan has just started confronting Chadok, because of what he saw with Akk, and he'll finally ask him about Dika in the next episode. So, more is yet to come.
The Principal
One of the last questions is, who is the one more powerful behind Chadok, which leads to the last name on the board. So far, we have only a few appearances of the principal: during Sani's interview, twice scolding both Chadok and Sani for losing control over the students' protests, and once when Chadok gave his official warning to all students through an announcement following the burned puppet accident. She gave Chadok a gesture very similar to one Chadok gave to Akk, putting her hand on his shoulder. A gesture of dominance and control. In the episode 11 teaser, Ayan said, "Let's go see the last boss." Will this be the principal or someone behind her? Is she the final end of this chain of school authorities, or is she, just like Chadok, just another chain link within? She warned that if the student prefects cannot do their work controlling the protest, an outside force will do it, and this was shown in the next episode's teaser. I wonder whether it would be a higher government authority, the military, or something else. Also, just what the school's alumni group sponsorship has something to do with the changes that these students demand? (Some of these last questions are rethoric, but giving a second thoughts of them wouldn't hurt.)
The unpredictability from the broader point of view of how this chain of power play on Suppalo might end is so full of tension yet feels so real. It's not only about the uniform but what it represents. It's not only about claiming individual rights but of larger entities. It's not only about choosing a side but understanding what it means to stand in the middle ground. The prison-like school is indeed just a miniature of a larger story.

hiii rowan, congrats on the milestone!! i had a gifset request idea that i've had for a while if you were open to it, but no worries at all if it's not something that piques your interest! as i've been rewatching the eclipse eps recently i've noticed that they really did set up wat to be a levelheaded person and good candidate for head prefect from the early episodes (like him being the mediator for kan and akk's fight, starting to raising his hand to help aye in judo, saying "why don't we just ask?" to aye and thua instead of worrying from afar, not liking the idea of blacklisting suppalo's own students during the protests, just wanting to make a movie showcasing how great his friends were, coming to akk's defense even though he was mad at akk about being the curse, etc.) there's a few more i'm missing i'm sure, but those are what i'm just remembering off the top of my head 😅 there were a few in our skyy too maybe? i've always wanted to make a gifset for wat + showing qualities of a good leader, but all my giffing skills begin and end at ezgif 😂 this is kind of a monster request though so i totally understand if you don't want to do it or if it's too much!! just wanted to pass along the idea if you were interested, but no pressure at all <3 once again congrats on the milestone and can't wait for the next oowu installment whenever you're ready :]
hi nonny :') <3 thank you very much for your kind words!! oowu... oowu is coming. the curse of doing all these akkaye writing prompts is that my inspiration & desire to write oowu has surged again but i. have to finish the prompts first lmao. but no worries. it's coming
as for your prompt, i have to admit i think i ended up a little sideways of it, but i hope you like it anyway. at first i started looking for like, lists of good leadership traits but sifting through so many corporate websites destroyed my soul so i decided to focus on just one wat trait that i think sets him up well as a leader, and that is how he tries his best to look at a situation from all sides, with compassion. i love how he clearly gets that from his interest in media & that he's the only one of the prefect trio to come to the correct conclusion re: the protestors without being led by the dick towards it, that he takes a while to consider his opinions and doesn't just go with his friends or authority, and he does so while thinking of others & their feelings
in any case even though i think i didn't Quite fulfill your request i hope you like it anyway? i loved rewatching wat scenes for this he is just. the very best boy

The Eclipse 🌒 Ep. 3 Events (1/2):
Akk gets a splinter while “defending” himself from Ayan’s advances. Ayan responds by removing Akk’s Suppalo pin, sanitizing it with the flame of his lighter, and using it to dig out Akk’s splinter.
Once the splinter is gone, Akk jerks his hand away from Ayan and leaves quickly. When Ayan calls after him to ask for a “thank you,” Akk replies by flipping him the bird.
In science class, Ayan and Akk sit side by side, and Ayan writes Akk a note: “Have you thanked me, yet?”
Teacher Chadok calls a student assembly and forces the three World Remembers’ Gang members to stand in front of everyone and chant “I pledge to never again breach Suppalo’s rules” repeatedly. When they don’t recite it perfectly in unison, he yells at them. Meanwhile, Ayan secretly records everything with his phone.
Later, Thua catches Ayan watching his video at school. When Thua cautions Ayan to keep a low profile, Ayan responds by speaking enthusiastically to Thua about the importance of speaking up and taking a side, rather than claiming “neutrality.”
Ayan leaves, and Thua chases after Ayan to ask him to elaborate. As Ayan leans in to whisper in Thua’s ear, the Prefect Trio (Akk, Kan, and Wat) walk by.
Akk and Kan stare frozen at Ayan and Thua with complicated expressions. Wat notices his friends’ off behavior and confronts them about being jealous. Kan vehemently denies it and claims he’s only worried for the effect Ayan would have on Thua. He calls Ayan a “headspinner” and consults Akk for backup.
Once Akk snaps back to his senses, he hastily agrees with Kan and tries to make a quiet exit. However, Wat calls out to Ayan and Thua and tries to initiate conversation. Before he can, a flustered Akk and Kan clamp a hand over his mouth and drag him away, much to Ayan and Thua’s confusion.
A video about the protests at Suppalo appears on the internet and starts going viral. The Suppalo Director orders Chadok and Sani to “fix it” immediately, so they don’t lose their school sponsors. Sani and Chadok have different ways to approach the issue: Sani wants to negotiate with the protestors, and Chadok doesn’t want to give “those kids” an inch.
Hence, Chadok meets Akk on the roof and pressures him to 1) seize all the cellphones he sees and 2) crack down harder on Ayan and the World Remembers’.
Meanwhile, Thua and Kan meet at the library and talk across from a bookshelf. Kan thinks Thua was there to meet Ayan and followed him. He looks at Thua softly and says, “I’m worried about you” before deflecting again.
Screams. The World Remembers’ Gang discovers someone has splashed red paint all over their signs. With Ayan’s encouragement, they decide to intensify their protest.
The Prefects Trio hang out in Akk’s room and talk about Wat’s interest in studying Communication Arts. The conversation naturally turns to life after Suppalo and the curse.
Kan asks, “Do you think we can reverse the curse in time?”
Akk replies, “Of course. We can do it.” His face holds a sober look.
This sparks an impromptu sing-a-long time with Kan on guitar and Akk sing-shouting as he dances with a big smile. Wat is the director, and his camera captures everything.
Ayan makes a revenge-relationship chart via sticky notes and red yarn. Akk might be at the center of it.

The Eclipse 🌒 Ep. 4 Events
AkkAyan shower confrontation scene = accidental kiss 💋
The teachers decide to gang-up on Ayan in order to “give him some polishing.”
Ayan debates with Teacher Waree about 18th-century philosophers and provides an answer to every challenge.
All day long, Ayan receives pop Q&As from his teachers. Although he has an answer for every question, the experience is mentally and emotionally draining.
Akk finds him laying down on the bleachers exhausted and sits down next to him.
AYAN: Are you so in love with me? You keep staring at my face.
After talking with him a bit, Akk gets up to leave, but Ayan grabs his arm. They look at each for a couple beats, and Akk decides to stay. Then Ayan scoots over and leans his head against Akk’s shoulder. A gentle teardrop runs down his cheek.
AYAN: You won’t be so mean to me too, right?
When Ayan wakes up, Akk is gone. In his place is the vending machine drink Akk bought earlier. Ayan picks up the can, reads the sticky note, and smiles.
Conversation between Ayan and Thua: Thua gives him a caution. Ayan refuses, and Thua lets it go. They also confirm plans for Saturday.
Prefect Trio: Akk decides the best way to get info on Ayan and his motives toward Suppalo is to start following him every day (inside and outside of school). Wat and Kan are unenthusiastic, but Akk manages to wear down Kan’s defenses by leveraging their friendship.
On Saturday, Akk and Kan follow Ayan’s car to an unfamiliar café. Once inside, they discover it’s a diversity café called Café for All 🏳️🌈☕️. Ayan is not there to plan the next World Remembers’ protest but instead to meet Thua and Thua’s mom. Akk and Kan sit/hide at a nearby table and eavesdrop on this personal conversation/“share your feelings” intervention.
THUA’s MOM: I know my son is patient and strong. But you have the right to express your feelings. No matter how busy I am, if it’s about you (son), I (Mom) will always listen.
Thua and Ayan friendship moment
Ayan reveals to Thua that someone close to him used to take him to Café for All frequently, but now that person is dead.
Akk and Kan split up. Akk follows Ayan to a cliff side and watches him lay a white rose on the ground by the edge. Akk sees Ayan bow his head while holding his necklace and journal close to his heart.
Meanwhile, Kan chases after Thua at the beach. He invites the other boy to go for a walk and then get ice cream.
KanThua’s sweet mini ice cream date🍦
KAN: are you still mad at me?
THUA: i’m not mad at you.
“Then why don’t you talk to me these days?”
“ Because you’re uncomfortable when I’m around.”
“I—.”
Thua interrupts him. “I get it. You don’t like when people judge you the same way they judge me.”
feat: Kan dripping his ice cream and Thua laughing at him.
That evening, as Akk and Kan compare notes, they realize the white rose left by Ayan at the cliff’s edge reminds them of Teacher Dika. Up until he left Suppalo for Parot, Teacher Dika used to have a pot of white roses near his desk. Akk wonders if Dika might be the special person Ayan referred to earlier. However, Kan reminds Akk that Ayan’s special person is now dead. Since Kan and Akk believe Teacher Dika is still alive and teaching at their rival school, their train of thought runs into a dead end.
Akk approaches Teacher Waree and asks her to stop being so hard on Ayan and instead let the Student Prefect Club (aka: Akk) be responsible for him. Teacher Waree agrees. Unbeknownst to them, Ayan overhears everything.
He confronts Akk about talking to “Aunt Waree” and about following him around on Saturday. Akk denies everything.
Akk pulls Ayan out of the way of a passing motorcycle (?), and they linger in an impromptu hug until Akk pushes him away.
AKK: D@mn you. If you’re not thanking me for my help, then stop talking.
AYAN: [flicks his eyes over Akk and smiles] Come here then.
Despite some initial resistance from Akk, Ayan walks him over to his car and drives them both over to Café for All.
However, Akk refuses to go in. Therefore, Ayan unlocks his phone, winds his arm around Akk’s neck, and gives him a surprise cheek kiss 💋 , while capturing the moment with his camera.

#Dear_Eclipse Q & A
6) I think Khan needed time to grow into his feelings. When he realized that being with Thua and being close meant more than avoiding the scorn of bystanders, Khan found the courage to speak his truth. This was a gradual process : spending more time with Thua (Khan had been avoiding him at school for years), feeling jealousy toward Ayan, finding out about Thua’s step-dad, being Bruce Wayne, confronting Ayan, kissing Thua in the tent, meeting Thua at the protest, and finally confessing. The delight he feels being Thua’s boyfriend is worse the risk or feel of public disapproval.
7)Yes! AkkAyan, KanThua, Wat, and Namo(?) should all hang out as friends. The dynamics would be similar to the relaxed, playful atmosphere of Prefect Trio buddies, but there would also be a mischievous and lovey-dovey Ayan sitting next to Akk (or leaning on him) . Khan would be a clingy and affectionate boyfriend to his quiet, matter-of-fact Thua. Wat is a fifth-wheel and simultaneously utterly amused and completely over everything. He has a film reference or quote for every conversation. Namo pops in and out whether he wants.
8)I thought the drama would have a real curse, like the school was haunted or something. I hoped that the solar eclipse played a big role and that Akk was terrorizing the student body because something supernaturally worse would happen if he didn’t. I also hoped that time – travel or time loops were part of it. For instance, Ayan lived through all the events of The Eclipse once, but he lost Akk to suicide, like his uncle. On the day of the eclipse, a grieving Ayan was sent back in time to the day he and Akk first met. I’m weak for that type of plot Oh well.
9) I’m not sure whether things will improve at Suppalo because that coldhearted principal is still in charge. Still, I hope the individual teachers like Chadok and Waree are shaken by events enough to try and do better by their students. If I was a student, I’d have a low opinion of y he school and of Tecaher Chadok for knowingly putting students in danger. I wouldn’t want to come back to school at all, and if I was forced to be at school, I definitely avoid everyone involved in the big revelation (like P’Akk, P’Thua, and P’Aye) like the plague.
10) Petitions. Social media campaign. Email newsletter. Campus forums. Boycotts. Appeal to Teacher Sani as much as possible.
11) The kiss in Ep6 isn’t a daydream, but when Ayan tries to address it, Akk calls it a mistake or denies that it ever happened. Ayan is not convinced, but he lets Akk pull away. Ep8 remains the same. Change the ending to Ep.11 and give the characters more time to process and wrestle with the consequences of those major reveals. I’d like to see a conversation with Khan and Thua, a conversation between Thua and Ayan, a conversation between Akk, Khan, and Wat, and finally, a second conversation between Ayan and Chadok about Dika. Have Akk apologize to the World Remembers gang. Extend the entire show to 15 episodes. One or the final episodes includes a kiss on the judo mat initiated by Akk.
12) Ep12 My Way: Akk loses his scholarship and is forced to leave Suppalo. He and Ayan get into a nasty agreement because of something Ayan does, and the “I hate you” scene happens. The cliff scene with Akk is Ayan’s nightmare. Akk is so frustrated he screams in the shower. Akk and Ayan make up and share in some sweet maybe spicy fluff. Akk initates a kiss in bed. Final scene is them relaxing on the fishing boat together. Happy ending.
13)AkkAyan, KhanThua, and Wat spend their college years together. Ayan helps Akk explore new interests and experiences until Akk finally figures out what he want to do with his life. Ayan is a force for change and inclusiveness wherever he goes, and Akk is a proud boyfriend. He lets Ayan drag him along to events and book talks and such. Ayan is likely a social justice & business major. Khan plays college basketball and studies sports business or sports medicine. Thua explores his voice through a literature and writing degree. Wat is a happy indie filmmaker and is the school’s go-to person for human interest documentaries and dramas. These friends stay together and support each other as they navigate a changing world and clash with parents and others who don’t understand them. Ayan’s mom virtually adopts everyone.
14) “Over the Moon” by Khaotung Thanawat, especially the duet version sung with First. 🐈⬛🐈🌓
