Creating an Inviting Retail Environment: A Guide to Layout and Infrastructure
It is essential to maximise space utilisation in the fast-paced world of retail, as this is the best way to improve the overall shopping experience for customers and, as a result, boost revenue. In order to accomplish this goal, store owners should make investments in shop fitting shelving that is well-designed and high-quality supermarket equipment, both of which are essential components in developing an environment for retail that is well-organized and aesthetically pleasing.
Because the first impression is the one that sticks with someone, the layout of your store needs to be as inviting as is humanly possible. Your ideal customer should be taken into consideration when deciding how products should be laid out, how easily they should be accessible, and how the store should look overall. The aesthetic appeal of a store can be greatly improved or severely damaged by the shelving design of the shop fittings. Not only do they keep your products in place, but they also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the inside of your shop.
On the other hand, the equipment used in supermarkets is critically important to the achievement of both efficiency and ease of service. The apparatus, such as checkout counters and shopping carts, can have a significant influence on the shopping experience that your customers have. As a result, making investments in the appropriate machinery is equally as important as developing an effective marketing strategy.
Tumblr media
In the retail industry, the purpose of shelving goes far beyond merely providing space for products to be displayed. Shop fitting shelving is a strategic tool that can be used to guide customer movement within the store, leading them to different sections and subtly influencing their purchase decisions. This can be accomplished by directing customers to different sections using the shelving. For example, a well-designed shelving layout will use eye-level shelves for high-profit items, which will attract customers' attention to products that have the highest return on investment.
Shelving should be adaptable in addition to having an appealing appearance when it comes to shop fittings. Your retail establishment ought to be able to adapt easily given the dynamic nature of the retail industry. Shelving systems that are modular offer flexibility and can be rearranged to accommodate a variety of product sizes or to create new display areas; as a result, they are an excellent choice.
When you are planning the shelving, make sure you don't forget about the importance of the supermarket equipment. The right equipment ensures that operations are carried out in an effective manner. This is true whether the business requires refrigeration units for perishable goods, checkout counters to ensure smooth transactions, or shopping carts to make life easier for customers. A store that has high-quality equipment has lower costs for maintenance and contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring a smooth shopping experience. This makes shopping there more enjoyable.
Tumblr media
Think back to a time when you went shopping and were unable to locate a certain item because the aisles were so disorganised. Or the times when you were forced to wait in a long line at the cash register because the equipment was either insufficient or broken. These kinds of occurrences can be quite frustrating, and they frequently cause many customers to abandon their purchases. They highlight how essential it is to have an organised and well-planned shop fitting shelving system as well as efficient supermarket equipment in place.
It is not a luxury but rather a requirement to make an investment in shop fitting and shelving that is built to last, has an appealing appearance, and is simple to use. The shelving in a store should be designed in such a way that it draws attention to the products being sold, attracts the eyes of customers, and is consistent with the overall aesthetic of the establishment. In addition to this, the shelving must be sturdy enough to support the weight of the products without collapsing or becoming damaged in any way.
In a similar vein, the machinery used in supermarkets ought to be simple to operate, productive, and long-lasting. It is absolutely necessary to have checkout counters that are intended to speed up the process of payment, shopping carts that move easily, and refrigeration units that maintain the appropriate temperature in order to guarantee that the goods will be fresh.
In conclusion, it is imperative that the proprietor of a retail store recognises the significance that shelving system, shop fitting and store equipment play in the operation of their company. These aspects have a significant impact on both the level of satisfaction experienced by customers and the overall shopping journey they take. Retailers can create an inviting store environment by investing in quality shelving and equipment, which will lead to increased foot traffic, higher sales, and ultimately, success for their businesses. Keep in mind that customers' first impressions of your brand will be formed based on how your store is laid out. Put some effort into it!

Shopping
Hardersson x Toddler!Reader
Part of The Big Adventures Universe
Summary: You go shopping
Tumblr media
It was meant to be a quick trip to get groceries.
Pernille was splitting her time between being your mother, going to training and still somehow finding time to do all the chores.
Magda put it on herself to pick up the slack when she came over to visit which was how she ended up in this situation here.
You sitting in the cart, waving around your girl-swan and your girl-moose happily as Magda considers whether Pernille will be able to tell if she buys the cheaper, own brand stuff.
The cart is pressed right up against one of the shelves to make sure it's not blocking the aisle as Magda wonders what bread to buy.
There's a colourful packet of cakes next to you and you reach for them.
You know what to do when you go grocery shopping because Momma taught you.
You throw your cakes into the cart.
Magda whirls around instantly, frowning at the sudden noise.
"Did you put something in?" She asks, finger reaching out to tickle your chin.
You giggle, kicking your legs out as you shake your head.
"No?" Magda says," I think you did. Because I wasn't the one that put these cakes in. No? I should put this back then."
"No, Morsa!" You say," Keep!"
"Keep? Are you paying, princesse? I don't think you have money."
"Momma money!"
"Momma's money? You're going to spend Momma's money?"
You nod, hand reaching back for a tub of brownies.
"Whoa? We're grocery shopping, not princesse shopping!
You stick your tongue out. "For Momma!"
"Are you sure that's for Momma and not for you?"
"Momma!"
Magda sighs, shaking her head softly as her hand runs over your soft hair. "Alright, princesse, let's make an agreement, alright? I'll let you choose two things from each aisle but-"
You cheer, little arms waving in the air and Magda can't help but smile.
"-But only two things, alright? Otherwise we'll go broke."
"What that mean?"
"Don't worry, princesse."
So, you get your cupcakes and your brownies and Magda finally decides on the slightly fancier bread.
"No, princesse." She intervenes quickly when she sees you eyeing up some sweets and you pout.
"You say two! Know my numbers!"
Perhaps teaching you your numbers this early was a mistake because you can count to five all by yourself and you definitely know how many two is.
"But sweeties make your teeth rot and you have such pretty teeth."
"I do?"
"Very pretty teeth. We don't want them to go bad, do we?"
You look longingly at the sweeties but ultimately drop them.
Magda's feeling quite proud of herself as she ticks everything off of the list while also limiting your grabby hands.
It all goes downhill the moment you get to the miscellaneous aisle.
Magda's never quite sure why so many supermarkets have that random aisle of things like kid's toys and slippers and dog coats but without fail, there's one in every supermarket Magda has ever been in.
But that aisle is the one where your grabby hands can't be contained.
"Hey!" Magda says," I know you know your numbers and I know you know that's more than two!"
She picks the little dressing gown you've chosen out of the cart and places it back on the rack.
You pout, jabbing a finger into your chest.
"Bein' good!" You insist," Momma says special prize for bein' good! Always!"
"You're hustling me!"
"Don' know that word."
"It means...It doesn't matter what it means because Momma isn't here right now. I'm in charge."
You bare your teeth at her like a little kitten with puffed up fur and Magda has to smother her laughter.
"Please, Morsa? Be like Momma?"
"No-No! Don't...Don't start crying! I...No...Please stop...Okay! Okay one extra present for good behaviour!"
You grin at her, suddenly no hint of tears are on your face and you turn to look at your options.
"That one!"
Pernille isn't expecting a lot when she gets home.
Magda only flew in yesterday so while she had offered to do some of the chores around the house, Pernille was totally okay if her girlfriend decided she was much too tired to do anything.
Looking after you can be the extent of anyone's energy sometimes.
But, she's pleasantly surprised to see her cupboards and fridge stocked full of fresh groceries and something simmering on the stove.
The less pleasant surprise is the massive cardboard castle that's been built in her living room.
You're stood in the middle of it, armed with a wooden play sword and a pen that you're using to scribble on the castle walls to make it to your liking.
Magda is outside of the castle in fairy wings and a wooden spoon as a wand.
"What's going on here?" Pernille says, brow raised," Where did we get this castle?"
"Shop," You answer, reaching with your sword to bonk Magda on the head," My gift for bein' good."
"And all of the new snacks we have? Magda?"
Magda, rubbing her head, lets out a bout of nervous laughter. "More gifts for being good?"
"Brownies for you, Momma!" You interrupt, grinning and bonking Magda on the head again," Wanna come into my castle?"
"What about me? Why can't I come in?"
You grin, sword coming down yet again. "You're the mean fairy, Morsa. Mean fairies can't come in!"

Accountant wanted
Let's not kid ourselves: no one expected Dylan to have a career. He'd barely managed to get through school, and probably only got his bachelor's degree out of pity. But he really did look like he needed to be pitied. Slightly overweight, bad skin, a squeaky voice and an annoying laugh. Most of his fellow students who were not doing a master's degree had job offers in the bag before they had even started their bachelor's thesis. Not Dylan.
In the beginning, Dylan kept his head above water with his old student job. Cashier at the supermarket. Sometimes he was also allowed to help out in the accounting department. Sometimes he also helped restock shelves. Nothing you'd need a bachelor's degree for. Sometimes Dylan also checked the supermarket bulletin board, but aside from tutoring jobs or babysitting for babies or pets, there were rarely any offers. Until that one day. There was the note. Handwritten. Blotchy. Not quite grammatically correct. But it said “Accountant wanted”. And Dylan could do accounting. Sort of. While he was working, Dylan didn't dare to use the phone. But right during the first break, he called the phone number listed. Someone answered whose English was rather broken. In a mixture of Spanish and English, Dylan conducted a kind of job interview. However, his Spanish was even worse than the English of his interlocutor. But somehow it seemed to have worked, because in the end Dylan received a WhatsApp message “Come mañana at 8:00 oficina. We looking forward to seeing you. I'll send the address later.” Dylan was so excited that his puny little cock actually got hard.
The next morning, Dylan got up at 5:30 a.m. It was quite a distance to Little Cuba. And he wanted to be on time and look good. With his white shirt, unfashionable tie, and tassel loafers, he looked a bit out of place on the bus. But he was at the specified location at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Dylan. No one else. Dylan checked the location again, which he had received via WhatsApp. He was exactly at the agreed place. It was 08:15, it was 08:30. It was 08:45… At 09:30, a man on a motorcycle stopped in front of Dylan. “You Dylan?” Dylan's mouth went dry. The guy was a mountain of a man. Muscles, hair… Tattoos… Leather… The man got off his bike and gave Dylan a fistbump that nearly knocked Dylan to the ground. “Soy Enrique. Pero call me Lobo. ¿Qué pasa con esa clothes tan silly?” Opened the rolling grille of the store they were standing in front of. Lobo pulled Dylan behind him. He went to the back. Dylan stood a little unsettled in the empty room. A mixture of cafe, leather clothing store and motorcycle repair shop. It smelled of oil, leather and sweat. For whatever reason, Dylan got a hard-on again.
Lobo came back and put a pile of clothes on a counter next to Dylan. A pair of jeans, a T-shirt, a leather vest. “Take them off! Get dressed!” It wasn't a request, it was an order. Dylan looked around for a sheltered spot. But there wasn't one. And Lobo barked more than he said: Here! So Dylan stripped. Thank goodness Lobo wasn't watching because he was looking for something. When Dylan put on the jeans that were loose-fitting on his legs, Lobo put a pair of boots in front of him. Dylan shielded his soft pale man-boobs from Lobo's gaze. He could hardly take his eyes off Lobo's steel-hard, tanned pecs. Lobo noticed this and made his muscles dance. Small damp patches from his precum formed in Dylan's jeans. Dylan pulled on the T-shirt, which was actually a cut-off tank top, and the leather vest. A mirror hung next to the rack of leather jackets. Dylan looked into it. He looked so ridiculous. His pale, chapped skin didn't match the masculine clothes at all. Since he was freshly shaved, his double chin was even more visible. And the gelled parting just didn't fit in at all. Not with his outfit. And not in the store!
Dylan asked Lobo what he should do now? Lobo looked at Dylan as if he wanted to eat him. “¿Soy yo el maldito contable? ¿Sé usar este puto ordenador?” he asked. “Todo lo que necesitas está ahí, en tu despacho.” Dylan had to make an enormous effort. Dylan didn't exactly speak the Spanish he had learned at school either. But he replied, somewhat haltingly and with a heavy accent, “¡Lo tienes, jefe! ¡No te defraudaré!”
In the corner that Lobo called his office, there was a surprisingly new and high-quality laptop with a Post-It with “clave: Lobo” stuck to it. Not exactly a high-security wing, Dylan thought to himself. But then, he wasn't employed for IT security. There were a few pieces of paper with notes next to the computer. Maybe there was a folder somewhere where he could file the notes. Dylan opened a drawer. And dollar bills poured out of the drawer. Small, large, hot off the press, worn… There had to be thousands of dollars. Lobo called out to him that he would like to know what yesterday's takings were and what outstanding debts there were. Well, counting the money was still the easiest task. Dylan was done with that by lunchtime. Then he had 18,743.00 dollars neatly bundled on his desk. His hands stank of money. It was hot and stuffy in the store. Dylan's hair was wet with sweat. He was hungry and thirsty. Lobo called out to him to get some tacos. And a few bottles of beer. Dylan took 20 dollars from the pile, made a note in an Excel spreadsheet and ran to get lunch. For Lobo, himself and, just in case, one or two of the guys who occasionally came into the store between errands.
Miguel greeted Dylan with a fist bump and asked if he wanted the usual. Dylan replied “¡Claro, amigo! Para cuatro personas, por favor. Y dame una botella extra de cerveza, estoy sediento como un buey hoy.” The two talked about the usual while Miguel prepared the tacos at his street food trolley. Soccer, the cursed Republicans, motorcycles… A few of the other guys, who were already eating or waiting in line behind Dylan, joined in the passionate discussion. Gringos rarely strayed into this neighborhood. Especially when it came to talking shit about Trump, there was no need to mince words. One of the guys asked Dylan how he spoke ghetto Spanish so fluently. Dylan shrugged his shoulders. He had no idea. It was just the Spanish he knew not only from Miguel, but also from Lobo and the boys. And Lobo was now snapping at him on the phone in exactly the same Spanish. He wouldn't be paid to blaspheme and gossip.
Dylan said goodbye to Miguel with a fist bump. He would have preferred a deep French kiss. But Miguel was a prude. Too bad, really. Well, maybe Dylan would be able to suck off one of the boys in the store later. As the youngest in the team, he was the one furthest down the hierarchy. And as an accountant, he was worth less than the money collectors, pimps or protection racketeers on the team. The others chose when and how he was allowed to have fun. When he arrived with the tacos, he took a quick look in the mirror: yes, he was the gringo on the team. But he worked hard on his body, his language and his attitude. He did everything he could to fit in.
It was only a short bus ride to his apartment. He shared a room with a couple of guys who worked in one of Lobo's restaurants, with whom he laundered money. They were cool. They helped Dylan improve his Spanish, they always brought food from the restaurant in the evenings and if none of the guys from Lobo's headquarters felt like playing with the gringo, Dylan always had the chance to fill a hole or get one filled. Not that early though, the guys rarely finished work before 10pm. So Dylan took the opportunity, swapped jeans for nylon shorts and boots for sneakers and headed for the pull-up bar in the small park around the corner. Time for a little workout.
The next morning, Dylan's morning wood led him straight to the bathroom. The boys hadn't come home until around 02:00 and he didn't want to disturb them. But fuck, his morning wood was almost painful. He stood in front of the mirror, sucked in the smell from his armpit and jerked off with his other hand. Shit, he was 19 years old now, this permanent horniness of puberty had to be over by now. But…. No… It…. Was… FUUUUUUUCK! Not over yet. Dylan wiped the mirror and the sink clean. Shit, too late to shower again. The boys had probably dropped off the last day's takings by now and if he didn't finish booking them by the time Lobo arrived, there'd be trouble. So he quickly wiped his upper body with the washcloth, brushed his teeth and set off.
Tumblr media
When Dylan arrived at the store, no one was there except Juan. Juan repaired the boys' bikes. He'd been doing that since Lobo was still shitting in his diapers. And now he was working on Dylan's baby. Technically, it wasn't his yet. But if the month went as he expected, it would be his bike by the end of the month. Finally, no more of this damn bus driving. He hated riding the bus, almost like he hated that his parents had given him that silly name “Dylan”. That's why he'd been nicknamed “Gringo” by Lobo and his boys right from the start.
17,776.00 dollars. Less than the day before. Lobo would be fuming. But Dylan's job as an accountant was done. All the income had been properly booked to the restaurant, the laundry and the motorcycle workshop. Even though he himself stank of sweat and musk, his books were all clean and tidy. Maybe he could give Lobo a blowjob to thank him when he arrived. And then Dylan would take care of booking the expenses.

Joel Miller x Reader
Summary: "Can I read your diary?" "No." "Please." "I said no." "Pretty please?" "Ellie." "P l e a s e?" "No."
Word Count: 3k+
Warnings: Fem!reader, writer!reader, slice of life, mom and dad problems, some meta references, me being corny, fluff, typos, etc.
A/N: This can be read like a p2, or within the same universe at least, of this fic but also as a stand alone whatever you want babe Tagging: @pinksirensong @aralezinspace @sloanexx
Tumblr media
"Ohemgee look!" Ellie calls, running through rubble and debris, making her way off to the rack of magazines with both ripped and dilapidating issues, and ones still very much intact and still in plastic wrapping.
She grins and begins to rummage the rack, "what was the magazine you used to write for again?"
I follow after her, tilting my head at the selection, "I've written for them all actually."
Ellie turns to me, cocking her head out, "whaaaaaaat? Seriously?!"
I shrug, "I was a freelancer."
"That's so fucking cool man!"
I roll my eyes, "yeah, cool, up until you had to pay rent," I turn over my shoulder as Joel walks over to us, then goes down the other aisle, continuing to survey the shelves.
I point, "there's some bleach over there."
Joel looks at it then back to me, "do you want it?"
I shrug.
Joel rolls his eyes and grabs it.
Ellie rips through the pages of one magazine and turns to me, "do you know who Tom Holland is?"
I walk over to her, looking through the available magazines, "actor. He was Spiderman at one point."
"What does that even mean?" Ellie shakes her head.
"It means he played Spiderman in films for a period of time."
"Oh," Ellie turns back to the page, "you in this issue?"
"Honey, I have no idea what date it is today," I reply as I examine other magazine covers. I recognize one of them and take it. Ellie immediately loses interest in the magazine she had, dropping it to the floor, coming close to me, pressing her cheek onto my shoulder as I flip through the pages of the magazine.
The telltale smell of the ink and paper makes me smile. I bring the object close to me and smell it. I chuckle, moving it to Ellie, "smell?"
She gives it a sniff then looks at me.
"Smells nice, right?" I smile.
Ellie gives me a weird look, "... I guess?"
Joel, from afar, comments, "signs of a druggie. Watch closely, Ellie."
I snort. Ellie looks over her shoulder and chuckles, turning back to me. She leans in as I flip the pages, breathing in deeply. I bring the magazine close to her again. She pulls back, sighs, and looks back at me, "I don't get it."
I laugh under my breath, "maybe I am a druggie," I give her a look. She mimics my wacky expression. I then survey the crumbling supermarket and sigh, "or maybe... it's really just not the same."
Ellie watches me as I go through the magazine.
She perks when I make a sound. I scan the pages and begin to laugh as I point to the corner, "and behold."
"HOLY SHIT!" Ellie gapes. She takes the magazine from me and begins to eagerly read the work upon seeing my name on the side. Ellie's jaws are parted as she goes through the text.
I laugh, brushing her hair back amorously.
"JOEL, SHE'S FAMOUS!" she shouts as I begin to walk off to the said man.
Joel grunts, "congratulations."
I chuckle as reach Joel and his push cart full of whatever he deemed important enough to take. He mumbles to me once I'm close enough, "sold your soul to the devil for shit."
I grab the box of thumbtacks on the shelf and place it in the cart, "I was told it was actually just a minor demon."
"WHO'S PEDRO PASCAL?" Ellie calls.
"Actor," I turn over my shoulder and call back. I then turn back to Joel, "was he the one in that Marvel film?"
"I don't give a fuck," Joel shakes his head as we continue going down the aisle.
"OHEMGEE YOU SAID IN YOUR ARTICLE YOU HAD A CRUSH ON HIM?" Ellie laughs.
"I honestly don't remember babe!" I reply to her.
"IS THIS HIM?!" she shouts and begins to run over.
Ellie pants as makes her way to us with a bunch of magazines in her arms. She rips one of them open once she is next to me, throwing the rest in the cart. Joel eyes Ellie after doing this.
She then points to a stylishly suited man with mustache and a debonair smile. The image of him instantly jogs my memory. I gasp and pull the magazine closer to me, "no wait, I remember. I did have such a big crush on him. He was so sweet and he made me laugh the whole interview."
"OHEMGEE!" Ellie giggles, "that's so cheesy of you!"
Joel grunts as he pushes his cart over a rocky part.
I grin at the sight of magazine Pedro Pascal. Ellie then begins to look between the magazine and Joel. She tilts her head then suddenly points, "oh my gosh, Joel looks like him."
"What?"
"That's why you like him," Ellie grins, "he looks like your actor crush!"
I give her a look, "Joel looks nothing like him, Ellie."
"What do you mean?! The mustache, the eyes, everything! That's Joel."
"Maybe if you showed me a pic of Joel in his heyday, I'd pretend to believe you. But that would honestly be such an insult to Pedrito."
"Pedrito," Joel scoffs under his breath, "Ellie take those magazines out of the cart. We are not taking them."
I steal a look at Joel as hold back a laugh. I shake my head, "rip the page of my article out. I'm feeling sentimental."
Later that day, on our stopover, I was curled up, sitting at the roof our car, looking between my notebook and the ripped page of my magazine laughing to myself. It was an amazing feat to find this in the middle of everything.
"Can I read your diary?"
I look down to my side, smile dampening slightly, "no."
"Please."
"I said no."
"Pretty please?"
"Ellie."
"P l e a s e?"
"No," I raise my brows at her. I motion to Joel who was going through some of the abandoned cars, "go help Joel."
"He told me to wait in the car because I'm a nuisance."
I scoff out a chuckle, "you're not a nuisance, baby."
"I know," she reaches out to me, "but if you feel bad, let me read your diary."
I roll my eyes, "why do you want to read my diary so bad?"
"Why do you write to much?"
"If I didn't, one of us would be dead," I said.
She gasps, "I get killing Joel, but me? You could never, you love me!"
I don't get to reply as Joel comes back and orders me to get off the roof.
Later that night, Ellie wakes up to the sound of arguing. We were camped in the middle of the woods and promised no one else would be camping. She shoots up from her sleeping bag and sees two people arguing from afar. She panics, turning to see the two sleeping bags by her side were empty, then she realizes that they were the ones fighting.
She pretends to go to sleep.
The sound of bickering intensifies.
Ellie gathers from the hushed growls there had been an accident.
In the morning, Ellie would find out whatever happened last night got the adults to non-speaking terms. She does not have the guts to ask, even through the silence of the long drive.
"Go left," I coldly dictate.
Joel turns left.
Ellie nibbles on her lower lip as she leans forward between the two front seats. She looks over to me. She looks over to Joel.
"So..." she says.
No one responds to her.
She notices how I lift my leg up when we pass a hump. Ellie points to my foot, "what happened to your ankle?"
"Accident," I turn to her with a soft smile.
Ellie looks worried, "is it broken?"
"Sprained," I retort.
"Twisted," Joel cuts.
I turn to Joel, "I've had worse sprains from running before."
"Oh, I'm sure you did!" He turns to me, "then you went back to your apartment-"
I turn away from him.
"-and put fucking ice and hot compress on it."
I sigh as I look out the window.
"I mean I'm sure you can do that now-- oh wait," Joel turns back front, "you cant!"
Ellie leans back into her seat, thinking of something to say to change the subject. She leans onto the window, eyes widening, "ohemgee, look, it's a family of-"
"I wouldn't have gotten in an accident had you not snuck off at-"
"I didn't sneak off!"
"Oh yeah," I turn back to him, "you made it a point not to wake me."
"You're a heavy sleep-"
"I'm really not, Joel!" I bark, "you wanted to do some heroic shit by doing a run all by your-"
"YEAH AND I REGRET DOING IT ALRIGHT!"
"WELL YOU SHOULD BECAUSE YOU'RE SO FULL OF SHIT WHEN YOU SAY THAT YOU-"
"I'M FULL OF SHIT!?!"
"YES YOU, YOU DIPSHIT! IS THERE ANY OTHER HILLBILLY FUCKER HERE THAT GRINDS MY GEARS SO FUCKING MUCH I WANT TO FUCKING -"
"YEAH WELL YOU'RE A FUCKING PRETENCIOUS RAT WHO HAS NO IDEA HOW TO SURVIVE BECAUSE ALL YOU USED TO EVER DO WAS GET ON YOUR LITTLE COMPUTER-"
"THAT MAKES YOU FEEL SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT? THE FACT YOU WORKED IN MANUAL LABOR AND-"
"NO IT DOESN'T MAKE ME FUCKING HAPPY-"
"SHUT UP!" Ellie rips through the verbal abuse, "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! Shut up!"
Joel and I look turn away from each other, heaving in anger.
The tensions worsened once he had to go on foot.
"Ellie," I say, turning to the girl, "you have a choice. Do you want to go with me, or do you want to go with Joel?"
"We're sl-" Ellie panics, "we're splitting up?!"
Joel says something under his breath that I wholeheartedly ignore.
I release a breath and motion vaguely, "we're getting two different things," I point to the left, "one is in the tunnels, which stinks worse than shit," I point to Joel on the right, "and one is up in building, but you have to climb, like, a hundred levels."
"49," Joel grunts.
I shrug, not bothering to look at him, "your pick, El."
Ellie looks between me and Joel. She begins to overthink what was happening. Before I could tell her it wasn't a big deal, she blurts out, "can you walk by yourself?"
I purse my lips, feeling somehow defeated by the fact her question meant she was choosing Joel. I nod once, "I told you, I've had worse."
Joel scoffs.
"My ankle is fine," I speak sternly.
Ellie nods, "okay. I want to wait in the car."
Joel and I turn to each other when she says this. I quickly turn back to her and furrow my brows, "you sure?"
She nods, "I'm kind of tired actually... we woke up... pretty early."
I nod slowly and ask, not looking at who I was talking to though, "you good with that?"
Ellie turns to Joel. She looks back where his sights were, watching me stretch my neck. Joel nods once, "don't go outside the car."
Ellie turns to Joel and nods back, "I wont."
Ellie burns time by going through some of the pages from magazines she had ripped out for herself. Once she was bored of that, she began to count the windows on all the buildings she could see. Once she was bored of that, she began looking for something else to read.
And then it struck her. The diary. It was here, fresh for the pickings.
Ellie wastes no more time. She opens a random page.
Day ~98 with Joel & Ellie
I didn't write for two days because we nearly died, Suzie.
Who's Suzie?
I'm glad we didn't. I'm glad you're still here. If you were a real person, you would have wanted to die after what we went through, considering the state of you, pages falling off and all. Ellie would have roasted you for your appearance.
Ok... Suzie's the diary?
I would have loved to have been her teacher in literature. She's got an amazing mind. She uses fuck as a punctuation though.
Fuck yeah!
Joel would have been her substitute math teacher who actually taught PE. He'd be really good at math though actually, he'll teach you how to compute rates and interest. He's good at that. He's practical. He's safe. I love him Suzie. I love them both.
Cute, she thinks. Ellie skims the page and tries to part the others that were stuck together. She gives up on that and decides to read something else.
Joel gave me a hicky-
Nope.
Joel nearly broke my back af-
NOPE.
I FUCKING HATE JOEL SO MUCH
Better.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY HE ACTS LIKE THIS
Ellie squints at the furious handwriting, unable to read parts of the passage.
I DON KNOW WHAT PLANET HE THINKS KEEPING THE FACT HES INJURED FROM ME IS A GOOD THING LIKE I WOULDNT NOTICE LIKE SUDDENLY I WOULDNT CARE
Ellie tilts her head at the next words she reads.
I HATE THAT HES SO SCARED OF EVERYTHING HE MAKES ME WANT TO EXPLODE
She ponders on what the text she read meant cause- well... Joel's not afraid of anything. She reads something else.
I look at your face and I feel like the noise doesn't have a sound. I feel your calloused hand touch me like I'm the most precious thing, even when they hurt me so bad. Don't push me away. I love you so much. We can do things together. We should do things together. I can stay up late sometimes. I can stay up late with you. Why don't you trust me? You're strong and capable. I love you. I am not. I am nothing to you. I am nothing. I am weak and timid. But with you I am everything. Why won't you believe me? Why won't you trust me? I love you. Joel. Ellie. I cant take care of you. I can take care of her. I love you. please believe me.
Later that night. We've set up camp by the woods.
"You want this?" I ask Ellie as I give her the other half of my food. She reaches out for it, but pulls her hand back when Joel barks, "don't take that."
I shoot him a look, "I'm not hungry any-"
"Like hell you are!" Joel snaps, "you didn't eat anything in the afternoon."
"I wasn't hungry then either."
"So what?" he chews exaggeratedly, "you're going through something? Or you're doing this to get back at me?'
I scoff and shake my head. I walk off.
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Joel screams as he watches me walk off.
"I'm going to take a PISS by the fucking LAKE!"
Ellie watches Joel as he watches me.
Ellie looks at the fire in the middle of them. Joel mutters under his breath. She licks her lips, "you know... it's... okay."
Joel turns to Ellie, giving her an incredibly annoyed look, "what?!"
"... you don't have to always be the strong one," Ellie mumbles as she looks off to the distance, "she's really strong too."
"You mean bullheaded," Joel grunts as he finishes the last of his food.
Ellie turns back to Joel, finding that he was looking at the same direction she had been. She brushes crumbs off her, "you worry about her. She worries about you-"
Joel turns to Ellie.
"I'm worried about my eardrums..." she trails off, looking to the dark sky, "but strangely enough, I'd rather go deaf with all your screaming than never be able to see you fight again."
Ellie pauses. She scrunches her face up and looks down at Joel. She raises a finger, "I was trying to be sentimental but I feel like that just makes no sense."
His nostrils flare, "you should leave the sentimentalities to-"
AHHHHHHH!
Joel shoots up from his spot and looks out to the source of the scream. Ellie shoots up as well, tense as she looks between Joel and the dark unknown, "should we-"
"Wait here," Joel says, grabbing a gun as he quickly makes his way deep into the woods.
Ellie watches as she uneasily fidgets on her spot.
Joel listens intently to the sounds around him. He slows then continues after hearing what he did, gun up and ready.
"Joel?" I call out as I walk. I repeat his name as I continue through the forest. I grunt when I step on a rock with my bad ankle. I lean against tree as I wince in pain. I try to stretch my injured ankle. It's a bad idea. I hiss.
I hear my name get called out. Before I can even look, there is a hand on my arm.
I turn and see Joel looking at me with a concerned expression. I whimper as he takes my cheek in his palm and shift to face him. He quickly asks, "are you okay? What happened? Is someone here? Did you fall? I-"
I silence him by placing my hand on his cheek, "Joel."
Joel's brows tense.
I sigh and shake my head, "I was... I was spooked by a racoon that brushed against me while I was peeing."
He lets out a breath. His shoulders relax and he lowers his gun. He then puts his weapon away and wipes his face. I chew my lower lip and grip on his bicep.
Joel turns to me as I give him a look. I gulp, "I also... stepped on a rock, and... my ankle hurts... like... really ba-"
I am cut off when Joel bends down and picks me up in his arms. I squeak and grip tightly on him. He grunts when he begins to walk off. I begin to feel agitated as he strains, "Joel-"
"Shut up," he blurts, "I can fling you into the sun if I want."
I lick my lips as I adjust my arms around his shoulders, "but what about your back?"
"What about my back?" he mumbles, "you haven't been eating and it shows. I would run a lap with you in my arms."
"..."
"You have to stop skipping meals."
"... I'm not hun-"
"I didn't ask if you were."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Joel."
"What?"
"I don't like it when we fight."
Joel scoffs out a chuckle.
"I'm sorry."
He sighs as he continues walking back to our camp. I caress his cheek. He looks down at me, blinking slowly, "I'm sorry too."
Joel looks back up and I begin to fiddle with his collar. A smile plays on my lips, "you know when you say 'too', it's like you're just agree-"
"I'm sorry," he blurts.
I hold back my chuckle, "well now it really feels like you're just agreeing with me."
"Do you want me to drop you?" he rolls his eyes as he gives me a quick look.
"I don't mind," I smile, brushing his hair back, "I like it like this. When I'm injured," I stroke his jaw, "you always do what I ask you to."
Joel clenches his jaw as he eyes me darkly.
I chuckle softly, rubbing the line between his brows, "hey."
"What?" he quips, no longer looking at me.
"I love you."
He purses his lips. His chest releases a deep breath of air. Joel spots Ellie from afar, and she very evidently spots us as she calls out. She runs over to us, "holy fuck, what the fuck happened?!"
I turn to Ellie and smile, "I'm being dramatic," I call back.
I reach out to her and caress her cheek, explaining my incident with the racoon.
At this point, we all had our sleeping bags set up and were getting ready to go tot be.
I give Joel a kiss on the cheek before he pulls away after helping me in my spot.
Ellie catches this then places a hand on her chest, "oh thank fuck you guys made up."
I turn to Ellie as she brings her sleeping bag close to mine. She says, "it was because of me right?"
I watch as Ellie looks out to Joel, who does nothing but set up his own bag close to mine.
Ellie begins to ramble, "I took a page from your book and got really sentimental with Joel."
I snicker, "did you, now?"
"Yeah," she raises a hand, "I talked about... going deaf and not being able to... hear you fight or something-- honestly, it was really cringy."
I give her a look, "are you indirectly calling me cringy."
"Absolutely," Ellie speaks without missing a beat as she nods her head.
I scoff, "you're so mean."
"No," she shakes her head and beings pointing, "he's the mean one, I'm the funny one, you're the sentimental one."
I laugh and shake my head at her words, "okay, sweetheart. Whatever you say."
The three of us are now cozied up in our bags.
"Good night mom and dad," Ellie says.
"Night, my love," I mutter, brushing her cheek, "I love you."
"Love you, mommy," she says softly then a little louder, "Love you, Joel!"
I grin and turn to Joel, "I love you, Joel."
Joel rolls on his side, facing away from us.
I curl up in my blanket and release a breath.
"I love you... I love you."

Designing for Success: Enhancing Customer Experience with Innovative Shop Fitting Shelving
The fast-paced and competitive world of retail presents a formidable challenge when it comes to designing an atmosphere that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The store's design and layout are two of the most important factors that contribute to the overall shopping experience of the customer. Shelving for retail stores and grocery store appliances are two components that are essential to the success of this endeavour.
Shelving in a retail store is used for much more than just displaying products on their shelves. It is a tactical instrument that has the ability to affect the behaviour of consumers, to encourage purchases, and ultimately to drive sales. On the other hand, grocery store/supermarket equipment is the backbone of a grocery store. It enables businesses to operate efficiently and provides customers with the conveniences they anticipate receiving from a grocery store.
Tumblr media
A store that has been thoughtfully laid out can make it easier for customers to navigate the space, increase the visibility of products, and foster a pleasant environment for shopping. Shelving that is part of shop fitting is an important component in the process of achieving these goals. However, the design is not the only factor that should be considered. The effectiveness of the shelving system is enhanced not only by its longevity and adaptability but also by its simplicity in terms of installation and adjustment.
Imagine a retail environment in which every item has its own designated spot, and each one is straightforward to locate and readily available. The power of high-quality shop fitting shelving can be seen in this example. Its value is increased by the fact that it can be adapted to meet the evolving requirements of the store, whether those requirements are for a seasonal display or a new product line. In addition, because there is a growing movement towards aesthetically driven consumer behaviour, the aesthetic appeal of your shelving can be a determining factor in whether or not you are successful in attracting the attention of customers.
The significance of grocery store equipment is frequently disregarded when people are discussing the layout of retail stores, which is a mistake. For a supermarket's operations to run smoothly, having the appropriate equipment is absolutely necessary. The term supermarket equipment refers to a diverse collection of objects, some of which include cash registers, shopping carts, and refrigeration units. In addition to its functional value, it also has an impact on the overall quality of the shopping experience.
Imagine entering a grocery store that is either disorganised or has equipment that isn't working properly. Customers may be dissuaded from shopping if there are no shopping carts available or if there is a lengthy line at the cash register. On the other hand, having high-quality grocery store equipment guarantees a smooth and trouble-free shopping experience, which in turn strengthens customer loyalty.
However, the benefits of having quality grocery store equipment go far beyond simply making happy customers. For instance, energy-efficient refrigeration units can significantly cut down on the amount of energy that is consumed, which in turn can reduce the costs of operation. In a similar vein, having up-to-date cash registers and self-checkout systems can boost both productivity and the speed at which transactions are completed.
Your retail environment can be taken to entirely new levels if you are able to successfully integrate shop fitting shelving and supermarket equipment. You can create a shopping experience that not only satisfies your customers but also maximises the potential of your company if you plan it out thoroughly, take into account the behaviour of your customers, and incorporate contemporary design elements.
Tumblr media
It is essential for merchants to keep in mind that every aspect of their store contributes in some way to the overall experience that their customers have there. Every detail is important from the moment a customer walks into your store until the second they walk out the door. A pleasant shopping experience for the customer, which is likely to result in additional purchases, can be ensured by providing high-quality shop fitting shelving and dependable grocery store equipment in a store that is both visually appealing and well-organized.
When it comes to retail, even the smallest of details can have a significant impact. Although installing high-quality shelving, shop fitting and grocery store equipment might seem like a significant investment at first, the returns in terms of increased customer satisfaction and revenue are substantial.
In conclusion, the significance of grocery store shelving that is both well-designed and effective cannot be overstated. Shop fittings are extremely important in this regard. They are much more than simple elements of a storefront retail establishment. They are strategic tools that shape the experience of shopping, influence the behaviour of consumers, and drive the success of businesses. In order to create a retail environment that is memorable in the face of intense competition in the market, it is important to make smart investments in the elements listed above.

Note
Do you remember what supermarkets were like in Soviet times?
The best I can offer is memories of late 80s/early 90s. Most of the shops in my city weren't supermarkets, they were smaller scale shops that specialized in something. For example, shops were called "Milk", "Meat", "Vegetables", "Haberdashery", "House supplies", "Toys" etc. You could tell by the name what kind of products were sold there. Supermarkets also existed but they weren't ubiquitous. There were under 10 of them in my city. One was quite close though so I remember it well. There were big metal baskets filled with stuff like toy balls or house slippers. Lots of cans and tins spread out on the shelves. Sometimes they would wheel out a cart filled with something more interesting--sausage or pineapples--and people would come running and get it asap, whatever it was.
I also remember the bread department. There were tall metal racks filled with fresh hot bread and buns that you could grab. There was also a fork attached to each rack with a bit of rope - it was used to feel the softness of bread without touching it with your (dirty) hands. The city bread factory was nearby so I was often lucky to get bread that was still hot. Oh to be a kid walking back from the store, nipping at the crusty loaf corners! :)

CHAN:
Chan always seemed to love it when you wore heels, you'd been worried a little at first that he would hate it but somehow he seemed to find you more attractive than before. The thing was, your height was one of the first things that Chan had been attracted to and seeing you in heels only drove that attraction higher.
"Which ones do you think will look nicer?" You questioned your boyfriend, holding up two different shoes as he stared back at them, the two of you were getting ready for a date and he'd specifically asked you to wear some heels with your outfit.
"The red," He pointed to the platformed heels that were also strappy, the straps would go straight up your thighs showing off just how long and beautiful your legs were.
"The red it is," You smiled, slowly sliding one onto your foot and doing the straps up while your boyfriend watched in complete awe of you. It didn't matter what you did Chan always found himself falling more and more in love with you every day.
"You're staring Christopher," You scolded in a joking manner as you slowly got up from the floor and stood above Chan, the corner of his lips turning up into a playful smirk as he looked at you.
"Staring at my beautiful girlfriend," He chuckled at the way you shied away from him.
MINHO:
Whenever you were around the house or anywhere in heels he would get you to reach for things you knew damn well he could reach on his own but he didn't care.
"Baby," He called out, looking up at the top shelf of the supermarket and smirking over at you. The two of you were out getting food to cook with tonight and you happened to be in some heels,
"What- Minho," You mumbled staring at him as he faked not being able to reach some of the ramen that were on the top shelf of the shelving rack.
"I know you can reach that," You mumbled as he pouted out his bottom lip at you, giving you the best puppy dog eyes he could manage.
"But I want you to get them," He whined making you roll your eyes at him and walk over to him, stepping in front f him and easily grabbing the ramen and putting them into the basket, noticing that Minho was staring at you the entire time.
"You're such a perv." You mumbled, knocking into him with your shoulder as he chuckled deeply at you,
"I'm yours though." He winked making you mumble something under your breath and walk away from him.
CHANGBIN:
It was a little intimidating at first whenever you would wear heels around Changbin, it wasn't as though he had anything against it. But the boys already bullied him enough about being short without him having to have a taller girlfriend who also liked to wear heels.
"What do you think Changbin?" You questioned as you came out of the changing room, dressed in a dress and heels for the wedding you'd be going to in a few short weeks. Changbin stared at you, looking you up and down as he took in all of your appearances, his tongue slowly swiping along his lower lip.
"You look good," He stuttered out a little, staring down at the heels and slowly looking back up at the dress.
"You don't mind the heels?" You asked, looking down at them. If it wasn't for the bride wanting you to wear them you would have gone for something with shorter heels or even some flat shoes so your boyfriend wouldn't have to worry about it.
"Not at all," He bit down on his lip, wondering if he could kiss you as badly as he wanted to right now.
"No?" He shook his head, slowly getting up from the chair and moving closer to you, his breath catching on your lips as he leaned down to kiss you.
"You look...So fucking good," He growled out at you.
HYUNJIN:
For some reason whenever you were out in heels Hyunjin seemed to take more photographs of you, the man was an art lover and a photography lover which wasn't news to anyone. You knew your boyfriend loved to take photographs of everything but you'd begun to notice something whenever you were out together, if you wore heels he would take more photos of you than he would if you weren't.
"Do you have a high-heel fetish or something?" You arched a brow when you heard the familiar sound of a camera lens shutter followed by a laugh from your boyfriend.
"No, I just like watching you in them." You stared over your shoulder at him, before the camera flashed again making you laugh at him and shake your head.
"Why? They're just heels." You stepped closer to him and he stared up at you, smiling from ear to ear.
"But you're like a goddess to me, seeing you this tall and beautiful you're breathtaking...I could take photos of you all day...Even paint you if I had the chance," He sounded a little breathless as he told you, your whole body heating up with embarrassment as you thought about it.
"Hyunjinnie," You whined, leaning down to hide in his neck as he let out a deep breathy chuckle.
JISUNG:
There was something about watching you in high heels that seemed to drive Jisung wild, it wasn't anything sexual by any means but it was just something that he loved to see.
"What?" You laughed noticing that your boyfriend appeared to be staring at you with a giant smirk plastered across his lips.
"Nothing, you just look good in heels." You frowned not following along with his logic, it wasn't as though they added anything spectacular to your outfit for the day.
"They're just heels," You mumbled, looking down at them and back to your boyfriend who was shaking his head at you.
"It's the way you are in them, you're more confident in them. You wear the heels and you look so good," Your whole body began to heat up at the compliment and you let out a small whine,
"J-Jisung," You whimpered a little, cuddling into him as he chuckled and held you in his arms, rubbing your hand up and down your back.
"What? It's true, you look great in them and you rock them." He continued to hound you with compliments, making you burst with embarrassment.
FELIX:
Whenever you were wearing heels and your photo was being taken you would always feel the need to squat lower than you were, it was something you did out of habit and sometimes did without even noticing. All of your exes would complain about you wearing heels or even just being taller than them and it had been ingrained into your mind that everyone felt the same way.
"You don't need to do that," Felix chuckled when he noticed that your legs were hurting whenever you would squat a little in a photograph.
"Do what?" You frowned looking down and finally noticing what you were doing, you let out a little sigh and adjusted your legs standing up straight.
"You look beautiful, I want everyone to see how great you look." He told you, gently taking your hand in his and placing a gentle kiss on the top of your palm.
"Even though I'll be taller than you in the photos." You bit down on your tongue, it wasn't as though your height made you insecure just the thought of upsetting someone else because of it.
"Yes, even more so. You're stunning Yn, I want everyone to see you." He smiled at you warmly, a shot of happiness working its way through your body as you felt yourself relax a little. From that point on you were no longer squatting in photos with your boyfriend.
SEUNGMIN:
When you first started to date Seungmin you'd sworn off heels for a while since you were taller than him, in the past whenever you would date a guy you were taller than, they hated you in heels. So to save energy you refused to wear them around him.
"What are you doing?" Seungmin questioned seeing you slip into some vans instead of the heels that were on the shoe rack,
"Putting my shoes on," You mumbled slowly standing up and staring at him as he frowned at you. The two of you were going to a wedding tonight and you appeared to not be wearing the heels Seungmin had bought for you.
"But I got heels for you," You stared down at the silver shoes and back at Seungmin,
"I didn't think you would want me to wear them," You mumbled shyly, you wanted desperately to wear them but you were scared it was only going to upset him.
"Why not? I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't," He chuckled before it finally started to hit him why you didn't want to.
"Baby," He cooed, looking at you as you stared down at the heels, guilt building inside of you.
"I don't want you to hate me if I wear them and be even taller than you." You pouted a little only for Seungmin to wrap his arms around you tightly and tell you he wanted you to.
JEONGIN:
Jeongin wasn’t the biggest fan of them when you wore platformed heels but he adored you in heels nonetheless. There was just something about it when you wore them that screamed ethereal beauty to him, watching you walk around the venue or party you were attending as though you owned the place drove him completely wild.
“Take off everything except the heels,” Jeongin groaned against your lips as you made out in the living room, your heart skipping a beat - maybe even a whole damn album at the way his voice sounded. So gravely and hungry for you, your stomach was twisting.
“Yeah?” You giggled, slowly stripping out of your clothes as you stared at your boyfriend who was running his tounge along his bottom lip, smirking as he took in your appearance.
“Now crawl to me in them,” He moaned out, watching you the whole time barely able to take his eyes off you.
