Battle of Jutland, German battlecruiser SMS Seydlitz engaged in a duel with British Admiral Beatty’s battlecruiser squadron, the ship already showing heavy battle damage, with her aft superfiring turret knocked out and all the the crew inside killed, and one of the wing turrets jammed and out of action.

Seydlitz would survive 21 large caliber hits, 2 medium caliber hits, and a torpedo hit, becoming one of the most damaged capital ships to ever survive combat.

@gonzogender hes a blue eyed lucy !! so hes leucistic !! his eyes are a very light blue (not best seen here) which is why they are called blue eyed, but there is also black eyed lucys ! theyre beautiful snakes

albinos and leucistic snakes are actually totally different ! albinos lack melanin while leucistic just lack pigmentation, thats why you can get partial leucistic snakes like piebalds !

The evolution of gun layouts in german warships can be best represented by their battlecruisers.

At the top you have the very first ship of this kind, SMS Von der Tann, which embraced the wing turret layout of HMS Dreadnought, keeping the same issue of the inability to use all turrets during broadside firing, as depending on the side of the firing, one of the wing turrets was always unable to be used, although theoretically both could be used on a target head on, basically meaning only three turrets could ever be used at the same time.

Then came SMS Seydlitz, the ultimate version of the preceding Molke class, which had a superfiring turrets aft, ensuring a minimum of 4 turrets firing on either broadside, although unlike Von der Tann, on certain angles of engagement, the opposite turret could be fired over the superstructure, but it wasn’t something that happened often.

And finally the Derfflinger class, which finally ditched the wing turrets by adding a second superfiring turret at the bow, while ditching the fifth turret, reducing weight and ensuring the same volume of fire as the preceding class in either side, finally reaching what we now consider the standard battleship turret arrangement.
