Hey everyone... this is long so I'll put it under a keep reading so it doesn't take too much space...
So just wanted to come here and just... honestly I don't know. I gotta be honest it's been some really hard months. I've been super depressed and I'm surprised I've made it this far. I'm just tired. I try so hard and nothing comes my way. I'm hardly making ends meet, I'm so behind on everything, water and power will be cut any day now and no matter how much I try I'm always short only enough for food and just a bit to keep my phone working.
I'm "old" (40+) so of course no one wants to hire me, and it doesn't help that I haven't worked in years because I was home taking care of my dad. I've been surving with selling the stuff I have at home but it's been even harder these past few months since I can't find interest in the stuff I'm selling. It so frustrating to look at an almost already empty house to see what I have that I could probably sell. Wanting to keep stuff and just giving up and actually putting it up for sell cause what choice do I have yet still not be able to sell it lol it's just making me crazy and even more depressed.
Sooo yeah as I mentioned I'm selling my stuff, I have a few things that I thought maybe someone would maybe want to buy 🤷🏻♀️ I would love to keep them but if I can get a bit of money for it then yeah. Who knows maybe if you are blessed and get to see Maybe Happy Ending you can get Darren to sign it.

just saw your tags on your last post on kevin’s fantastic overtake and it reminded me of a question i’ve actually been meaning to ask for some time now: if you could choose a top team for kevin, which one would you pick?
when i first thought of this question i had the ‘big three’ in mind (rbr, merc, ferrari) but now that aston martin’s made big strides, i guess they could be included too (or even another team entirely if you so choose)! i honestly struggled to come up with the best fit for kevin (merc being extremely corporate, ferrari having what appears to be a constant political upheaval, rbr laser-focusing on max, etc.) but i figured that you’d have some insight on the matter! curious to hear what you think :)
sorry for the late answer but i've actually been thinking about it for the last few days because it's a very interesting question!
k-mag has a bit of history with all three top teams actually. toto offered him a mercedes seat in a different racing back in 2015 i believe (i cannot for the life of me remember what racing series but it's in his book), red bull offered him the toro rosso seat for the 2019 season and apparently they were considering him instead of checo for 2021, and kevin obviously has a lot of contacts within ferrari due to haas, but he also was in their simulator in 2018 when leclerc had a horrid start in formula 1. i don't really see kevin at aston martin, it just feels wrong lmao, so i'll exclude them in this thought experiment.
most likely team?
for me the least likely would be mercedes. i have nothing against them, but like you said then there is quite a corporate feeling, and i don't think kevin would fit in very well. the mercedes seat would be due to lewis retiring and i think george and kevin would be a dangerous mix if i'm honest. toto has said some good things about k-mag, but i think he also sees kevin as a bit of a loose canon, so i don't see him offering kevin a seat even if toto knows that kevin would be able to deliver some good results.
then next is red bull. once again i'm unsure how wise it is to pair max verstappen with kevin. they would be extremely competitive as a duo and imo k-mag would fit in quite well at red bull. he's very much a no-bullshit person and helmut marko appears to be physically unable to mince words. i also think his reputation as a very fast and aggressive driver who is not afraid to battle anyone is something red bull would like. but driving style wise then i actually think max and kevin are very similar and i'm not sure you can have two such drivers in the same team. i actually don't think k-mag would mind being the second driver for a season or two at red bull. he would have the chance to get some poles, wins and podiums and showcase his talent to other top teams. as long as him and max start the season on equal terms, he would live with it if max does get the upper hand and then will eventually be favoured over k-mag. kevin has also proven himself to be quite the team player after returning to f1. he's very much thinking of the team above himself, so i don't think red bull and kevin are a bad match if checo needs to be replaced, but it would definitely be a bit of a gamble. if max and kevin can keep it clean on the track then i actually think they'd make a great duo. k-mag is a super calm person (despite what some people seem to believe), haas even says that sometimes he is too calm, and i think that might work well with verstappen's temper during the races.
the most likely top team for kevin would be ferrari. kevin is actually pretty involved with a lot of the people at ferrari, he has also had fred vasseur as a team principal back in the day and fred wanted to keep him in the seat at renault (however i don't think they were the bestest of friends...). the only problem with ferrari is that i think they are unlikely to get rid of any of their drivers anytime soon. sainz and leclerc are getting on well. while sainz does not have the same winning performances that leclerc does, he is pretty consistent. while charles' performances can swing a bit, we saw the best of him last season and it's clear that he is world champion potential and he's also a product of their academy. i actually think kevin would navigate ferrari politics quite well and i think ferrari needs someone like him. i love charles with all my heart, but he's too hard on himself and not hard enough on the team, and i think kevin would be the one to help keep ferrari accountable for their failures.
where would i like to see him?
i actually do not know! i don't see kevin in the mercedes, he will not fit in and he's just not a mercedes kind of driver. but i could see him as a red bull or a ferrari driver. i think he would fit in well enough on both teams. he would have an easier time at ferrari due to knowing the people working there already. ferrari is definitely a warzone rn, so if you wanted me to pick his seat for the next season, i'd have to go with red bull even if that might be a controversial take. but i think kevin would be good for ferrari. they need someone like kimi back, someone who is just straightforward, tells the team what he wants and is not afraid to call them out on their bullshit. and he would perform well against either sainz or leclerc (although i think him replacing sainz would be the most likely scenario). but at the same, i think kevin would do great things in that red bull and he'd take the fight to max and red bull would have one of the most aggressive and fearless duos on their hands in f1 history. we would definitely get race wins with kevin in that car - and the possibility of a world championship even if max would be favoured by red bull. i also think this seat will be open before a seat at ferrari opens up. not because checo is performing badly, but just because over an entire season then max is clear of him, and also it is obvious that things are not good between max and checo. and red bull will always choose max over checo.
so long story short, if you asked me to pick a seat for kevin today then i'd go with red bull, but i think ferrari is more likely. if either sainz or leclerc would be unable to drive for the rest of the season, i think kevin would be one of top candidates for that seat. they will not put shwartzman or italian jesus in it. i think kevin's main competitors would be norris, albon and hulkenberg. i think norris is locked into mclaren until his contract is up. hulkenberg's age and race performance thus far is against him and he has less of a history with ferrari than kevin. and i personally think kevin is a better driver than alex. i love alex and i have great respect for him, but i just don't think he can pull out those impossible outstanding performances that kevin is capable of. and i also think alex is too nice like charles. ferrari needs someone to put them straight and i think fred vasseur would agree with that.

Here's another HTF OC to be joined, Xtianz and his suited Zeon Armor the armored "Zaku II Kai"! 🙂
Zaku II Kai Xtianz Came from the real: MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai
Armament(s):
• 3-slot Grenade Rack Stored on the right hip of the Zaku for convenient access are three hand grenades. The Zaku Kai's grenades were more compact than the "cracker" grenades used by the original Zaku. While not very powerful or accurate, they're capable of performing different roles in the battle.
• Shoulder Shield The shield is a simple defense used to block most incoming ballistic and explosive projectiles. Also used to great effect in close quarters battle with enemy mobile suits. The Zaku II Kai mounts a shield on its right shoulder.
• MMP-80 90mm Machine Gun The upgraded version of the MMP-78 120mm Machine Gun. It used 90mm bullets instead of 120mm type, allowing for a greater speed of firing and a higher rate of penetration. The machine gun is magazine-fed with 32 rounds per mag. The MMP-80 was also integrated with a grenade launcher under its barrel for more firepower.
• Grenade Launcher The MMP-80 is fitted with an underslung grenade launcher. The grenade wasn't very effective against large ships, but was an ideal mid-range anti-mobile suit weapon.
• 120mm Machine Gun The 120mm machine gun is a standard weapon for Zaku type mobile suits. It is a shell firing gun that does not require energy to be used, however its effectiveness against heavy armor is very limited. It holds 100 rounds per drum with spare drums that can be stored on waist armor racks.
• Heat Hawk An axe-shaped close combat weapon, it uses a super-heated blade to cut through the armor of enemies and/or vehicles. The thermal energy is generated by the power output of the Zaku II's thermonuclear reactor and relayed through the armored hands. The Heat Hawk used by Zaku II Kai is modified with an extendable handle for longer reach in close quarter combat.
• Heat Sword A melee weapon originally developed for the Gouf line of mobile suits. Like the Zaku's heat tomahawk the heat sword is a blade that is heated to high temperatures in order to increase it's cutting capacity. The Heat Sword was designed after a broadsword so its blade is longer than the tomahawk allowing for a greater range of attack.
• H&L-SB25K/280mmA-P Zaku Bazooka The 280mm Zaku Bazooka was another standard weapon that could be equipped to a Zaku type mobile suit. The bazooka fired explosive rounds that were quite effective against the armor of Earth Federation mobile suits and battleships.
• Sturm Faust An explosive weapon with a rocket propelled warhead, it was designed before the beginning of the One Year War as an anti-ship weapon. Useful both in space and under gravity, it was mainly deployed for anti-ship attacks. The Sturm Faust likely made a good anti-armor suit weapon, could be equipped with both a Sturm Faust and a more typical ranged weapon for greater versatility. As a non-guided weapon, it is difficult to hit targets with high mobility.
• Shield The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a mobile suit. Since the introduction of beam weaponry, shields have been treated with an anti-beam coating allowing it to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. Typically physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break.

• Zaku II Kai's Mask An exact replica of the original Zaku II Kai head and a special optional accessory that can be worn on his/her face. With built in signature mono-eye w/ all feature needs, like night vision, smart target detector, a snorkel prevents all sorts of harmful smoke/gas and good used for underwater diving surface, etc...

super random dat di ko sasagutin kasi wala akong naisip na specific person.
una i was thinking of someone who's living my kind of a "dream life"- travelling ganyan, attending concerts, bsta lahat ng gusto ko maexperience in life while single kasma friends and fam or mag isa or with a jowa pero biglang nag pop sa utak ko si ate Tracy.
cousin ko yon na matanda lang sa akin ng 3 years. she got married 2018 and they have 2 kids (3 and 1 y/o ata). not thinking of it so much kasi im open sa idea na baka single na ako sa lifetime na to but feeling ko yung kanya yung "dream married life" ko.
nasa province sila, with a small baking business. not sure if may plans pa either one of them na bumalik sa trabaho (airlines). and dahil di naman ganon ka problema ang pera for them, her parents and sibs na may family na din lahat still get to visit her ng ilang times a year or sila ang uuwi dito sa manila.

Haha i saw a lot of the stuff you mention in the tags around .... Late 2014, going into 2015, it was kind of wild. But I think it stopped after Star Allies (just a guess, because I didn't check the tags after Star Allies due to being a fandom hopper) and much of what I see in Mags's tag now is playful bullying lol ~
yeahhhh i do remember it going on later (i specifically remember having one mutual in like 2018? who like got angry at and vagued ppl for liking him for reasons i mentioned) like i said i havent been involved in thte fandom lately so im a bit stuck in the past for some of these tbh, im happy to hear its actually died down. i feel like thats a super serious accusation to make towards people just for liking a character and like it better be for a good reason, and it just wasn't in magolor's case.

Let's take a step back for a moment, please.
Yes, this isn't easy.
Lego did not completely obliterate that argument. Lego has not succeeded yet at meeting their own metrics at a pilot scale, let alone an industrial one. They are testing things to see if they will work well enough, and so far they have not gotten there. Because - yes - bioplastics and recycled plastics do not have the same material properties as standard plastics, and Lego has not finished solving that problem.
As of August 7, 2023, Lego has not provided any more information about their prototype recycled-plastic bricks.
The initial press release announcing their first prototype plastic bricks was from June 2021.
In that release, the team acknowledges that there is still a long path to getting recycled bricks into production. The formulation they have isn't a recycled version of what regular Lego bricks are made of (that's ABS, which isn't commonly recyclable in practice, particularly if colored). It's a modified version of PET, the plastic in single-use water bottles. That plastic is weaker than ABS and Lego is creating a bespoke formulation to get closer to the material properties they need, and they aren't there yet, because this is not easy.
(Even changing the color of a plastic can change its material properties. One standout example of this - there's a case study in which changing a defibrillator case from blue to red-cross red weakened the plastic enough that the case would fail.)

Gregg Beckham from the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, who, in 2018 along with Portsmouth University’s John McGeehan, engineered an enzyme that digests PET, is impressed with Lego’s progress.
“ABS is an amazing material. It is extremely versatile, because you can change the ratio of the A the B and the S. And depending on how you formulate it there are a very large number of versions of ABS plastic that you can make. We literally touch it every day,” Beckham says. “PET, on the other hand, is challenging to formulate in a manner that has the same material properties as ABS like you would find in Lego brick. That is an exceptional polymer science challenge, for sure. This is super exciting.”
As for why it has taken so many decades of plastic production to get to this point, Beckham says that while it would be nice if we could wave a magic wand and just make it happen, in many cases the task is deceptively difficult. “This is fundamental material science and engineering that needs to figure out how to meet the same types of material properties with feedstocks that are either from recycled plastic or become recyclable themselves,” he says. “In the case of ABS bricks, they are neither from recycled plastics nor are they recycled at end of life. This potentially could meet both of those challenges simultaneously.”
And those biobased plastics? They're currently not strong enough (as of this article from Sept 2022) to use for bricks. Only about half of all LEGO sets contain any biobased blocks, and bioplastics represent only about 2% of Lego products.
Side note - because they are colored, both the current ABS and future PET Legos pose major challenges for recycling. Even if they are made of recycled material, they will probably themselves not be recycled.
And lastly - Lego is not unique in its quality control or its standards. Plastic snapping together is extremely common (think of any of the bottles in your fridge whose lids snap closed, think of putting the cap back on a ballpoint pen, think of any number of containers which you can open or close, and then imagine a million more things whose assembly depends on snaps you'll never see). Discarding a mold when it reaches its end of life - everyone does that. Every mold has a limited number of pieces it can make before it wears out. Those things are normal.
No, Lego has it easy. Legos don't have to carry loads. They don't have to be exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, corrosion - any of the perils of the outdoors. They don't have to be safe for food contact, they don't have to hold liquid, they don't have to spin or wear or bend or flex, and they don't matter for human life safety. They aren't like any of the plastic in a car's airbag system which must maintain its performance from brutal cold to scorching heat only to fail perfectly when called upon. They aren't like the ketchup bottle in your fridge which must contain a mildly acidic liquid and keep it airtight. They aren't like the connectors of electrical wires; they're not like the gears in your fan that let it spin for days-hours-years; they aren't like the plastic stint in your great-uncle's heart; they aren't like the soles of your shoes, the chair you sat on in elementary school, the bulletproof windows of the bank, the rubber band around your groceries, or the seal that keeps the oil from spilling out of your bus's engine, the plastic case of the defibrillator in the hospital.
No, Legos get to snap together and sit pretty and still indoors.
There are many, many kinds of plastic. Those plastics do many jobs. Some of those jobs are unnecessary and some of those jobs are very difficult, and specific formulations are necessary to accomplish different tasks. Some things can be recycled mostly-easily, some can be recycled with difficulty, and some cannot be recycled at all because of chemical bonds that form in the plastic. Each has to be sorted and treated differently, and almost all plastics degrade with processing and over their service lives. There is no magic wand. There is only hard work and slightly less hard work.
Don't get me wrong - it is very, very cool that Lego is pursuing biobased and recycled plastics. But it is a pursuit and not a current victory. And it does not mean that the problem of plastics recycling is solved.

I love my Potterhead husband but ...
I'm annoyed at him being a Harry Potter fan. I have nothing against harry potter. But my abuser, my sister's husband loved harry Potter. He introduced me to harry Potter books but he molested me when I was 5-9. I didn't know that it was abuse back then.

I thought it wouldn't affect me and nawawala din yung pagkafanatic nya. We got married 2018 and when we moved to our small apartment, he still has memorabilias even the books and CDs I gave him. Nag-away na kami nyan at sinabihan ko syang napakachildish niya. Nagtampo sya and was about to give it away but I don't like seeing him hurt. Kaya naguilty ako sabi ko wag na ok basta it wouldn't take much space.
Btw, sis's husband died in 2021. Dun ka lang sinabi sa hubby ko what he did to me. Pero di ko masabi naiirita ako sa pagiging Harry Potter fan nya Kasi childhood nya yun eh. That was his happy childhood elementary days. His parents bring him to the cinemas. Yung childhood ko ng Harry Potter eh associated with abuse eh parang sinira ko dn childhood memories nya.
Pero tiis na lang ililibing ko hanggang hukay haha. Buti na lang hindi nya ginagawang cosplay kink yun kundi omigahhhd.
Malapit na kami mag-6th wedding anniversary and magtu-30 na din. We were planning to go to Japan and gift ko na sa kanya yung Universal Studios na harry Potter theme park.

Interview R.I.P. Through These Eyes
Interview mit Robin aka rrrobyn (Through These Eyes Rec.)
Through These Eyes war ein aktives Plattenlabel von 2016 - 2020 mit Sitz in Berlin, Deutschland. Es wurde von dem DJ und Blogger Robin aka RBYN gegründet und betrieben. In seinen Worten war Through These Eyes "ein Label, das sich um seine Künstler und deren qualitativ hochwertiges musikalisches Repertoire und dessen Up-Tempo-Resonanz kümmerte. Es konzentrierte sich auf Halfstep- und Jungle-Sounds im Bereich von 160-170 BPM und verfolgt einen unabhängigen und Do-It-Yourself-Ansatz.".
Am 12. März 2024 erhielten alle Fans von Through These Eyes Records auf Bandcamp eine Email, die über den neuesten Community Post informierte:

Obwohl das Label seit vier Jahren keine Musik mehr veröffentlicht hatte und inoffiziell auch keine Fortführung plante, so war es das erste offizielle Statement zum Ende von Through These Eyes. Wer als Fan Musik auf Bandcamp kauft, kann sich Musik sowohl in verschiedenen Formaten jederzeit laden als auch die Musik streamen. Eine Schließung des Labels auf Bandcamp bringt nicht nur praktische Lücken für Fans mit sich, die die Musik gekauft haben, sondern hinterlässt auch ein kulturgeschichtliches Loch. Die Leipziger LXC und Booga, die beide ebenfalls im weitesten Sinne Bassmusik/Jungle Labels im DIY Modus betreiben (Alphacut und Defrostatica), hatten daraufhin die Idee, Robin zu interviewen. Das Interview wurde redigiert und in deutscher Sprache auf Robins Blog und in englischer Sprache auf Boogas Blog veröffentlicht.
Booga: Was war deine erste für einen DJ Gig gekaufte Platte?
Robin: Ich habe ja als Dubstep DJ angefangen, weil alle meine Freunde Drum & Bass DJs waren und ich ihnen nicht die Platten wegkaufen wollte. Als Dubstep kam, hatte ich endlich “meins”. Wie bei so vielen ist meine erste Platte, glaube ich, recht unspektakulär, jedenfalls kein “Midnight Request Line” oder ähnlich richtungsweisendes Release:

Dieses 12”-Vinyl vereint aber immer noch alles, was ich an Dubstep so gerne mag. Einflüsse aus verschiedenen anderen Lieblingsgenres und eine Menge Bass.
Booga: Was hat dich dazu bewegt, DJ zu werden?
Robin: Wie oben geschrieben: alle meine Freunde waren DJs und somit war es nur klar, dass ich auch auflege, als ich “meinen” Sound gefunden hatte. Am Anfang von Dubstep hat in Bielefeld das auch niemand außer mir gespielt, wenn ich es also laut auf dicken Anlagen hören wollte, musste ich selber ran. ;)
Booga: Kannst du dich an deinen ersten DJ Gig erinnern, was ist dir in Erinnerung geblieben?
Robin: Haha ja, ich konnte nicht wirklich beatmatchen und durfte das Warm-up vom Warm-up spielen, einfach weil meine Freunde gerne mal Dubstep hören wollten. Ich war danach auf jeden Fall angefixt und hatte Bock auf mehr.
Booga: Was waren deine wichtigsten DJ Gigs und weshalb?
Robin: 2008 Mobilat, ich war das erste Mal außerhalb von Bielefeld gebucht und allein die Anreise war schon abenteuerlich, es war auf jeden Fall super lustig und ich war 3 Tage wach …
2014 Gremlinz Berlin. Ich war gerade Resident DJ auf der Partyreihe geworden und bei der Party waren gefühlt alle meiner Berliner Freund*innen aus den unterschiedlichsten Bubbles. Rückblickend: die perfekte Party
2018 Fusion, das dritte Mal auf dem Festival war das beste. Die Aufregung war ein bisschen weg und endlich konnte ich das Set spielen, das ich immer schon mal auf einem Festival spielen wollte. Als dann der Bühnenmanager sagte, dass immer noch so viele Leute da sind und sie den Hangar jetzt erstmal doch nicht schließen, damit die Leute davor noch tanzen können, war das schon ein geiles Gefühl.
Booga: In Leipzig habe ich dich beim Tieffrequenz-Festival als leidenschaftlichen DJ erlebt, der voll im Flow der Breakbeats agiert hat. Vermisst du das Auflegen manchmal?
Robin: Ja klar. Ich glaube, das geht jedem Menschen so, die/der schon öfter vor einer größeren Crowd gespielt hat. Gerade wenn man mal wieder einen richtig genialen Track gefunden hat und sich im Kopf ausmalt, in welchem Setting man den gerne mal spielen würde. Da juckt es dann schon ganz arg in den Fingern.
Booga: Und wie schätzt du Tieffrequenz-Festival im Nachhinein ein, können städteübergreifende Veranstaltungskonzepte zur Verbreitung von hybrider Bassmusik / Footworkjungle sinnvoll beitragen oder müssen das die Locals selbst auf die Reihe bekommen?
Robin: Schwierige Kiste. Ich finde diesen “wander” Aspekt super und denke, dass durch die verschiedenen Städte als Standorte definitiv neue Connections entstanden sind. Aber ich glaube ganz ehrlich, dass daraus nicht viel mehr als eine Handvoll Folge Gigs entstanden sind. Ich glaube gerade bei neueren Sounds und Genres müssen die Locals ran.
Booga: Welcher Typ bist du: Clubgig oder Festival und weshalb?
Robin: Club Gigs fand ich immer am besten. Dunkel, guter Sound für die Heads und danach schlafen im Bett nicht im Zelt. ;)
Booga: Ich habe dich zuerst als Musikblogger https://robynthinks.wordpress.com/ wahrgenommen, der mit viel Liebe und Kenntnis Releases, Mix-Sets und Interviews aus dem weiten Feld der Bass-Music veröffentlicht hat. Was war dein Antrieb dafür?
Robin: Auch hier wieder: Musikblogs für Bassmusik auf deutsch gab es nicht. Wollte ich also machen. Vorher habe ich beim Musikmagazin Resident mitgemacht und auch dadurch hatte ich schon ein wenig Übung im Schreiben von Artikeln und Reviews und wollte das gerne noch weiter ausleben. Und da ich damals viele Blogs gelesen habe, war das ein logischer Schritt.
Booga: 2020 hast du das Blog eingestellt und du veröffentlichst auf https://robynthinks.tumblr.com/ in großen Abständen größtenteils unkommentiert Releases und Mix-Sets - so richtig loslassen kannst und willst du nicht - richtig? Wirst du hier weitere Signale senden?
Robin: Haha ja, gut erkannt. Ich habe mir immer schon gedacht: gute Musik gehört geteilt und auch da juckt es mir halt immer wieder in den Fingern. Tumblr ist ein relativ einfacher und schneller Weg, etwas zu teilen. Also ja: bestimmt gibt es immer mal wieder unregelmäßige Empfehlungen.
Booga: Bei deinen DJ Mix Sets arbeitest du gern thematisch. Ich schätze das sehr, weil ich dann automatisch davon ausgehe, dass diesen Sets ein erheblicher Aussiebungsprozess an Tracks vorangegangen ist, damit das Thema in der Form für dich eine Weile Bestand hat. Gehst du so vor, oder hast du einen anderen Modus Operandi?
Robin: Ja, genau. Seit einer Weile haben alle meine Sets ein gewisses Thema, das ihnen Struktur verleiht und nach dem ich die Tracks auswähle. Oft kann das auch nur ein Track sein, den ich unbedingt unterbringen will. Ich mag das super gerne und habe dabei viel mehr davon als wenn ich z.B. die neusten Releases/Promos runter mixen würde.
Booga: Was hat dich dazu bewegt, den Schritt vom DJ zum Labelinhaber und -manager zu gehen?
Robin: Das lag zunächst wirklich nur an dem ersten Track von DigiD, den ich unbedingt veröffentlichen wollte, weil er eben noch nirgendwo veröffentlicht war. Ich habe eine Weile darüber nachgedacht und mir den Namen/das Logo überlegt und dann ging's mit ganz viel Support von Freunden auch schon los. Auch hier war es für mich der nächste logische Schritt: ich war DJ, wusste, dass ich einen ganz guten Musikgeschmack habe und konnte die Releases gut über mein Blog bewerben.
Booga: Du hast zu Beginn von TTE strikt auf Vinyl gesetzt - keine Digitalangebote, auch nicht auf Bandcamp. Die Releases waren von Hand gestempelt, alles sehr minimalistisch und DIY aber klar stilistisch geprägt. Wie kam es zu dieser Vorgehensweise und hattest du Vorbilder, die dich inspiriert haben?
Robin: Bereits zum Zeitpunkt von TTE001 waren digitale Formate auf dem Vormarsch und jedes Release ab Release Datum als illegaler Download verfügbar. Ich habe mir die Frage gestellt, was die Fans eigentlich bekommen, wenn sie 10-15 € für eine Platte ausgeben. Da war schnell klar: “Vinyl only” bietet da viele Vorteile. Auch wenn das jedesmal ein extremer Hustle war, weil Bandcamp null dafür ausgerichtet ist. Durch das Vinyl Format haben sich die Releases meiner Meinung nach länger gehalten und haben so eine andere Wertigkeit bekommen als digitale Releases. DIY war schon ein Anspruch von mir, ich wollte so viel wie möglich in eigener Hand haben. Andererseits hatte es natürlich auch Kostengründe. Ich konnte die Platten so zu einem humanen Preis anbieten.
Booga: Die Artists auf TTE kommen aus den Niederlanden, Österreich, UK, Italien, Deutschland, Russland. Wie hast du eine A&R Arbeit mit den unterschiedlichen Mentalitäten der Artists gehalten, wolltest du dich an der Artist-Entwicklung beteiligen oder warst du klar auf Releases fokussiert? Wie konntest du deine Label-Vision den Artists übermitteln?
Robin: USA hast du vergessen! ;) Teilweise war es schon kompliziert, eben gerade wegen der angesprochenen Mentalitäten und der Wünsche. Aber die meisten waren sehr glücklich, dass ihre Musik auf Vinyl veröffentlicht wird und mochten meine Vision. An der Entwicklung war ich bei einigen auf jeden Fall beteiligt, da hat man schon nach bestimmten Releases gesehen, wie erfolgreich es weiter für die Artists ging. Besonders stolz bin ich immer noch auf die Yoofee EP, genau aus diesem Grund.
Booga: Vor vier Jahren hast du mit Omega eine Compilation als Schlusspunkt für das Label veröffentlicht. War Through These Eyes für dich eine Achterbahnfahrt mit Höhe- und Tiefpunkten oder eine konstante, geradlinige Arbeit?
Robin: Die absolute Achterbahn! Mehrmals dachte ich schon, ich schmeiß alles hin und habe diesmal einen zu großen Fehler gemacht. Dazu dann noch Artists die Tunes versprechen und dich dann über Monate ghosten, fehlendes Geld, fehlende Zeit und dieses ewige Warten. Warten auf die Tunes, warten auf die Masters, warten auf die Testpress, warten auf 300 Platten… dann noch Beef mit dem Designer des Logos usw. Aber irgendwie ging es dann doch noch und in entscheidenden Momenten kam dann sowas wie ein guter Deal mit Unearthed Sounds (RIP seit 31.07.2023), so dass ich nicht 300 Platten pro Release selber lagern und verkaufen musste. Bei dem Omega Release hatte ich dann das Problem von vorher genau anders herum: ein vinyl-only-Label, das jetzt eine rein digitale Compilation veröffentlicht… Ich habe mir einige Ideen für eine physische Veröffentlichung angeguckt, aber nichts passte so wirklich.
Booga: Wenn es um die internationale Wahrnehmung von Through These Eyes geht, was waren für dich da die Highlights?
Robin: Ich glaube, das ist definitiv die "Sun People - Fight Dem Back” Platte. Irgendwie ging vom Signing bis zum Release und dem Hype und Verkauf alles glatt und lief perfekt. Als ich gesehen habe, dass Anna Morgan den in Brooklyn auf einem Soundsystem, Ticklish auf seiner US Tour und diverse DJs aus England auf Rinse und beim Outlook gespielt haben, war das DAS Highlight von TTE. Selbst Tracy & Ezra von ZamZam Sounds wollten einen Remix von dem Tune machen…
Booga: Wie schätzt du im Nachhinein die Zusammenarbeit mit Magazinen und Online-Presse ein, so als Blogger mit eigener Veröffentlichungserfahrung?
Robin: Für die erste Review im Mixmag bin ich durch halb Berlin gefahren, um eine Kopie von dem Mag zu kaufen. Schnell kam ich zu der Frage: Wie viele Menschen haben sich die Platte wohl nach dem Lesen dieser Besprechung gekauft? Ich denke aber, dass Menschen eher durch DJs oder Selectors im Radio beeinflusst wurden/werden. Zumal ich an das Review nur durch bezahlte Promo über eine Agentur gekommen bin. Was immer gut läuft, sind Premieren von Tunes auf Soundcloud Accounts, die für einen gewissen Sound stehen. Das habe ich auch oft in Anspruch genommen.
Booga: 2020 hast du das aktive Betreiben deines Blogs eingestellt als auch das Through These Eyes Label. Was waren deine Gründe dafür?
Robin: Der Grund ist eigentlich die Zeit. Bis vor ein paar Jahren hatte ich noch keinen so zeitintensiven Job, und meine Familie ist seitdem auch gewachsen. Für das Label habe ich gemerkt, dass ich nicht mehr eine ganz so eindeutige Linie verfolgen könnte. Vinyl wurde langsam irrelevanter als Medium, die Preise für die Produktion gingen stark nach oben und mehr Pressen machten dicht, was die anderen Hersteller noch mehr überlastete. Dann auch noch die Insolvenz von Unearthed… und Artists, die einen als Vinyl-Label sehen und enttäuscht sind, wenn man nur ein digitale Veröffentlichung anbieten konnte. Zudem war der Sound, den ich mit meinem Label gepusht habe ein wenig “out”, Labels haben entweder wieder viel mehr straighten 174 bpm Drum & Bass veröffentlicht oder sich auf Jungle spezialisiert. Meine klare Linie habe ich da nicht mehr so gesehen und da passte vieles nicht mehr.
Booga: Würdest du etwas anders machen, wenn du nochmal ein Label starten würdest?
Robin: Von TTE001 habe ich nur 100 Stück pressen lassen, weil ich absolut nicht wusste, wie sie sich verkaufen würde. Das war wahnsinnig teuer, ich konnte die Platte aber (gerade als erste auf meinem Label) nicht für einen so hohen Preis anbieten. Glaube mit der Platte habe ich ordentlich Verlust eingefahren! Also das würde ich definitiv anders machen. Und natürlich mit dem Wissen von heute, ein Release nur als digitalen Download anzubieten und nicht als 12”-Vinyl.
LXC: Einige engere Peers hier haben sich über die Schließung gewundert, vor allem über die Formulierung, dass das TTE-Bandcamp ganz gelöscht wird - wie kommt's zum Komplettabbruch, welche Vorteile siehst du dadurch?
Robin: Da ich selbst keinen Track auf TTE veröffentlicht habe, verwalte ich im Moment nur noch die Einnahmen aus Downloads & Streaming. Es ist unglaublich zeitaufwendig, die einzelnen Abrechnungen für die Artists zu erstellen. Deshalb war mein Gedanke: Alle Produzenten bekommen von mir alle Rechte an ihrem Tune zurück und verkaufen ihn selbst bei Bandcamp. Dann habe ich nichts mehr mit dem Verwalten der Einkünfte zu tun. Ich möchte dann niemandem noch Geld schulden. Jetzt habe ich aber gehört, dass einige aus archivarischen Gründen dafür sind, die Releases da zu lassen. Zudem weiß ich von Künstlern, die keinen Bandcamp-Account haben oder anderen Jobs nachgehen. Deren Tunes wären dann wirklich nicht mehr verfügbar. Sie bleiben also oben. Nur so, dass man sie nicht mehr kaufen kann.
LXC: Hast du noch Backstock von TTE-Platten auf Lager und wenn ja, wie ist deine Strategie damit?
Robin: Das meiste ist mit Unearthed in die Insolvenz gegangen, das sehe ich nie wieder. Ich habe noch ein wenig Backstock von TTE005 & TTE007, aber die bleiben dann erstmal auf dem Dachboden. Strategie gibts also nicht so wirklich.
LXC: Dein Blog war definitiv ein krasses Sammelbecken aktueller Bassmusik, danke nochmal für den ganzen Input - es war stellenweise fast schwierig, überall mitzukommen. Hattest du da (ab einem Punkt) auch Zuarbeiten und Bemusterungen durch z.B. Labels, oder hast du da wirklich den halben Tag über Soundcloud geäugt?
Robin: Nein, das war wirklich ein abendfüllendes Programm. Die Ausnahme waren mal so 1-2 Promos im Monat für eine Review. Irgendwann habe ich aufgehört, Parties zu bewerben, mit denen ich nichts zu tun hatte, weil ich das irgendwie komisch fand. Aber ansonsten war das alles handselektierter Content von mir.
LXC: Welche Labels, KünsterInnen und vergleichbare Blogs siehst du aktuell, wer tritt sozusagen die vielversprechendste Nachfolge in deinen Augen an?
Robin: Ich kenne keins mehr. Wenn, dann noch Ronny / Kraftfuttermischwerk, aber er schrieb neulich selbst, dass Musik/Mixe bei ihm gar nicht mehr so viel angeklickt werden. Auch auf die Gefahr hin, dass ich jetzt sehr alt klinge: Ich wünschte, es gäbe ein Zurück zu Foren. Dort hat für mich der beste Austausch stattgefunden.
LXC: In den letzten 20 Jahren ist ja doch einiges Richtungsweisendes im weiten Feld der Bassmusik passiert: Dubstep, Halftime, Jungle-Revamps, you name it ... Wohin blickst du heute am liebsten, was sind frische Spielwiesen in naher Zukunft? Was würdest du gern erleben, wo siehst du Potentiale?
Robin: Was ich super spannend finde, ist wenn Footwork Producer die traditionellen Wege verlassen und ihren Sound erweitern. Jlin schafft das super, die neue LP von Heavee geht auch in die Richtung. 160 bpm bleibt also auf jeden Fall noch ein super Bereich um zu experimentieren.
LXC: Wie stehst du zu Diversität in der Landschaft der Veröffentlichungen? TTE war soweit einsehbar komplett männlich gelesen besetzt, oder? Hattest du das Thema trotzdem auf dem Schirm und Ausschau nach Flinta- und BIPoc-Repräsentationsmöglichkeiten gehalten?
Robin: Ja, tatsächlich habe ich nur männliche Producer auf dem Label gehabt und bin selbst auch einer. Das Thema finde ich super wichtig und ich hätte da auch definitiv in den Jahren nach “Omega” daran gearbeitet.

Mitch B.: Halloween a Roma ed un novembre ricco di musica
Che super autunno musicale per Mitch B., top dj romagnolo in trasferta a Roma e non solo, visto che è appena tornato da Amsterdam, dove ha raccontato l'Amsterdam Dance Event per AllaDiscoteca. Ad Halloween, il 31 ottobre è a Roma, al Rude, Ecco poi alcune delle sue serate a novembre '23: il 3 è alla Terrazza Aperol di Milano, il 4 torna nella sua Ravenna, anzi nella Marina di Ravenna dove è protagonista musicale al White Beach. Il 10 novembre è invece alla GNX Arena sempre a Ravenna, il 24 è al Vie En Rose di Imola (Bologna) e infine la sera dopo, il 25 ottobre, è al BBK di Marina di Ravenna.
Continua il suo rapporto con Jango Music e mentre scriviamo la sua ultima release sono i bei remix di "Honey", disponibili su Spotify. Non muoversi a temoo ascoltando musica di questo tipo è impossibile. La sua musica la pubblica su label internazionali come la francese Jango e spesso si esibisce anche all'estero. Dove? ad esempio al Warehouse di Nantes (secondo locale francese nella classifica DJ Mag UK), all'Hollywood Vip Room e allo Zazada di Patong in Thailandia. A Ibiza invece si è esibito, oltre che al Pacha, anche al Pacha Hotel, al Dunes, al Bora Bora, al Destino e al Mechero Camp. A Formentera al Pineta e al Beso Beach, in Olanda durante l'Amsterdam Dance Event. In Svizzera eccolo invece al Vivai di Saint Moritz.

ok wait jumping in re Natalie bc I’m actually so curious what her role is? she’s obv on tour w them but she was in the background of gdy ulta event videos, the office mag shoot, lindsey tags her in all the photos of hayley shoots/outfits she posts, so I have to think she’s more on the artist mgmt side rather than tour/production? idk I’m just super interested in music industry inner workings so I’ve always wondered what her job title/role actually is lol (if anyone knows)
according to an article from 2018 she is their assistant tour manager. she does help with other things too but that's her main role.

Good bye contractual-ization! loljk Just left my 2019-mid 2023 (4.5-year time span) part-time/RA/GA/full-time jobs in UP or academe sector. I was initially feeling really emotional (just don't let my colleagues see it) because I really treasure my experiences there, and the people I met there. Nalulungkot nga ako na di ko sila nabilhan ng gift at di rin ako nakapagpapicture tas nakapag-official byebye na ako sa office. <insert supposed last day picture ko sana sa work ko> Throwback time. Late 2018. I got an email from my adviser if I have some spare time to do some freelancing research job while reviewing for boards. Of course I said yes. As if naman nag-aaral talaga ako sa boards lol. Then there I met Ate Janel (officially i guess. met her already in Solar during undergrad pero quick hellos lang), Kuya Leo, Kuya Billy, Carlo, Ate Jade. Naging 2 separate research jobs pa 'to because another company was interested on a different electric vehicle segment. Notable person in this job: Ate Janel! Really fascinated sa pagiging organized ni Ate Janel. One of the people na I look up to when it comes to being "manager" and "leader". She has great people and communication skills. Also yung work experience ko dito with Ate Janel, I consider it as my keystone job experience sa professional/personal life ko haha. I significantly improved my "stranger" communication skills here; doing cold emails, calls, and meetings. Really appreciate yung one-time casual comment from her na nagimprove yung "introvertness" ko during this time. Ni di ko nga alam kung nag-thank you ako pero up to this time naalala ko pa haha. Sweetest person ever too! Always check my welfare nung namatay si Papa, nung nagkacovid ako mag-isa, nung may sunog sa knl. SUPER LOVE HER. DESERVE ALL THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Then, comes 2019. I was working as graduate assistant for Intelect x CHRG project. Worked with Kuya Billy, Juls, at Aaron for the tech of the charging station. Very rewarding yung naging dev ko dito kasi ang multi-function yung last board ko hehe. Even now kaya ko iutilize yung old board ko to do simple relay switching.
Notable person of the job: Kuya Billy! He was also nice to work with, and genuinely funny person rin. Galing ng labview skills! Didn't know I can do "logging" from my UART comm lines to save csv in a laptop during battery characterization. Very very helpful rin kapag may times na nabobo na ako kasi di ko alam solution sa noisy signals ko. He's the type of person na gusto ko maging technical lead/manager kasi you'll feel na yung output mo ay important at impactful; and very hands-on sya sa technical dev.
Fast forward 2021, I was hired as full-time researcher for a project building a novel motor. Hooray! First full-time job ko 'to. Honestly, I don't know kung anong specific job description ko rito, I was expecting to code and do embedded pero di natuloy. I was just trying my best to assist in whatever output is needed or if assistance is needed. Halfway the project rin kasi ako umalis. Overall feeling ko in this work experience was mostly guilt.. Felt really guilty leaving Kuya Soren alone sa project kahit verbally na nya inexpress na mahirap kapag umalis ako kasi testing na sa next phase huhuhu. Sorry po. Notable person of the job: Kuya Soren syempre! Ang talino and creative nya. Very expressive rin sya kapag nageexplain/nagsusulat. Which actually I liked kasi sa mga narrative reports, naiintindihan ko yung thought process nya sa research/design/tests, nagfefeeling matalino rin tuloy ako haha. Kidding aside, grabe hands down po, one man team talaga! Top notch yung technical at engineering skills! Learned so much about mechanical design, motor control, and academic paper writing working under SRM. There were moments na sinasabi ng peers ko na it's time to go outside UP projects na kasi wala raw mentorship dito. Pero pinaglalaban kong mentor ko sila Kuya Soren at Sir Lew kasi dami ko naman natutunan under SRM. Which actually with the benefit of hindsight, I took for granted. Hays. Sana nagawa/ginagawa ko na thesis ko eh! Year 2022-2023. Been involved with various part-time research consultancy projects and e-trike E&E design. Honestly, this 1.5 year experience was actually the moment in my life that I felt so underachieved. Haven't moved on with any progress on my thesis. Haven't even got my component deployed on the e-trike testing. I know I'm trying so hard to make sense of my debugging and be as attentive as I can be on other tasks for the projects. But I felt most of the time, I'm talking to myself. I was supposed to be the "expert." But I know I'm not. There were moments I'm thinking maybe I'm just getting more dumb as day the goes by. Or most likely, I just didn't ask for the support I needed. All I know is that I hate working on this specific SDK from TI that I can't reconfigure arghhh HAHAHA daming bugs magalaw mo lang ng onti. Maybe naging successful pa ako kung sinulat ko lahat from scratch. Mygad. Notable person of the job: Kuya Leo, of course! Friendly to everyone tapos mahilig sa chismis lol. Isa sa mga gusto kong skills na maadapt from Kuya Leo ay yung presentation skills nya. Very knowledgeable and confident kasi yung aura nya haha. Alsooo, naalala ko from the very first day of my onboarding sa NICER, everything I needed was procured. Kahit dami kong problema (technically speaking), he's always reminding me don't be pressured and may workaround sya so I can take my time. Nasobrahan na ata sa leniency though huhu. Feel ko talaga baby na baby ako sa team kahit as a senior srs haha. And then that day came, I was told that the next round of the funding will not be pushed through, and we'll have to look for other opportunities with 3 working days before the end of the month (!!). I just repeat this thought in my head: "Syempre after all my internal drama, it's just business. Walang funding. Walang income, syempre. I should not take things personally, all is just business. " Ahhhh I know I am ending this at a sad note. But I am really sad hahahuhu. I felt so underachieved and I don't like the feeling of it. I can wait for the next round of funding/projects and continue with my R&D life (and lecturer/teaching too).. but I strongly crave some control in my life and di rin naman ako mayaman. Iniisip ko kung waiting for the next funding lang ba talaga kaya ko gawin. Di ko ba kaya solusyunan yung current problem ko which was: wala akong kontrata at this moment?
So I tried applying in industry and selling my skill set out there. I sent multiple applications for embedded/firmware engineer na may hybrid / WFH set-up (oo choosy ako hahahaha) I got an offer that met my expected salary. Full WFH set-up. With trainings pa. Ang chill pa ng mga technical interviewers/future teammates ko. My immediate supervisor was even yung delivery manager na ng division. Sa utak ko, hulog nang langit na yung opportunity. The only reason why I will decline this is kung SUPER LOVE KO MAGSTAY SA UP. But not really. Gusto ko lang iend yung MS ko kaya ako nagsstay. That's it. So I accepted the industry job offer. 3 days nalang before my starting date. Yayyy. THE END.
