Today was my last of four days of substitute teaching with a wildly difficult class of 4th, 5th and 6th graders. The level of gratitude and affirmation from teachers and staff was a *powerful* drug and I can't tell if I have found the perfect job for my sense of purpose and satisfaction in life or if I've overshot into unhealthily feeding the god complex
#blahblahblah#mylife#i mean also the various connections or sort-of-progress-toward connections that i made with the kids were super meaningful too#truly#and i'm probably going to be worrying fruitlessly about some of those kids for the rest of my life#but the school counselor and a couple teachers literally applauded me as i left the upper elementary hallway to turn in my keys and go home#and i haven't felt a rush like that in a LONG time

#keese draws#oc art#oc#ocs#these guys are from the same story as the grape twins btw#root beer is their cousin and one of the four main characters#dragons beard is merlot's boyfriend and fellow antagonist#and lemon taffy is the older sibling of one of the other main characters who spends most of the story 'kidnapped'#and by kidnapped I mean the super villain polycule asked them if they could help them with some tests and they went 👍#important context! lemon taffy (and their two siblings) are the kids of three superheroes and merlot and fox grape are the kids of four#supervillains both of which are mostly absent for the main story (although the supervillains at least get to be more of side characters)#the heroes are off in space dealing with alien political drama that doesn't matter to the main plot#the two groups have a fairly casual rivalry but they still have genuine beef#merlot and fox grape were left home alone after their parents set out to work on some big project and merlot took the chance to go fuck#off and get a boyfriend to do crime with leaving fox grape desperately trying to find them and get them to come back home#and for the other side root beer was roped into helping rescue lemon taffy by their two younger siblings pop rock and jelly bean#he and pop rock are the main duo on that side with jelly bean being their guy in the chair#merlot and dragons beard are mostly antagonists to those three with fox grape and the other main guy cayenne pepper chasing after them#cayenne is dragon beards childhood friend and I have never drawn him before despite adoring him 😔#hes such a piece of shit I love him#in my old original concepts for him he was going to be an incel but then my brain went but what if. aro. and I instantly hard committed#hes a bitchy asshole who's made all the more annoying by the fact that his anxieties are low key completely justified#hes a sad wet cat abandoned in a cardboard box all alone 😔#oh yeah also worth noting that root beer is a vampire who has a strained relationship with his adoptive dads#oh and dragons beard's parents are a dragon and a royal fae so he has a lot of power that he doesnt know how to use lol#lemon taffy is like. sort of part dragon in a very distant way? their grandma was a failed revival of an old god who was a dragon who made#their dad out of her own magic which included that same magic from the dragon god who was basically made of magic#so he was also sort of part dragon but not really? idk its complicated#merlot and fox grape are miraculously not part dragon somehow despite my track record of making too many ppl dragons in this world#they are however vampires and also directly decend from a god so thats fun

𖤓°⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ oh ! well—! ... huh. it was almost sheepish, the way joy's smile instinctively curled across her features. with blue hair tousled in every which direction and her pajama sleeves rolled up to her forearms , clearly the emotion hadn't gotten much sleep. or any sleep. how could she ? there had been SO MANY EXCITING THINGS that happened during riley's road trip ! joy was practically still buzzing with excitement about all of it! and everybody knew that exciting things were meant to be thoroughly enjoyed and more importantly : SHARED ! especially with friends ! so joy had taken upon herself the task of figuring out how best to regale their friends with the trip's activities. after all , riley was going to head back to school right after the weekend after the trip ended , so that meant non-stop planning , feeling , experiencing , and , of course , smiling. you name it , joy had made certain they did it ! riley couldn't just go on a week long vacation and not have the most fun time of her whole life ! nuh uh. NO WAY ! all of riley's emotions had been in agreement about that , and so OPERATION GOOD TIMES AND SUNSHINE was put in play , and altogether a resounding success !
. . . BUT in all of the commotion , joy might have , possibly , just maybe overextended herself. just a bit . even now that the adventure was virtually over , it was still enough to make joy's fingers glitter with a deftly disguised jitter as she rifled through her doodles about their trip , each tacked onto a corkboard with shimmery string connecting the BEST ONES. ( evidently joy had meant to use her little display as a surprise presentation for the others come morning ... BUT NOW it was a surprise for one less of the crew. )
not that she was especially inclined to admit it.
❝ a w e , disgust ! you know , that is so sweet , really , but i'm good , i promise ! ❞ joy chimed , turning back to the corkboard ( that she had so hastily tried to cover up with herself ) and pinning another doodle in place. it took a couple of tries for her to pin it in the right spot. ❝ why don't you get back to dream duty instead? i'll be so quiet you won't even know i'm awake ! ❞

i finally have wifi who else cheered 😽😽
#the delivery literally rang the bell when i was on the toilet oml i never peed this fast in my life#sorry if this was tmi but i was like bet he's gonna be here while i pee and I WAS RIGHT 😭😭😭#loser moment#yk what was the biggest loser moment#i wanted to get my bicycle from the old apartment and drop off my keys right#and for some reason somebody removed these little plastic caps on the wheels and so they were both flat ????#and i know exactly that they were on there when i left it bc i just had put air into them not even a week before i moved#so anyway i had to walk approx 15 mins to a bus stop and then had to take the bike on the bus home with me.....#another even bigger loser moment#one wheel also kept making noises which didn't help me feeling like a loser at all#good nows however#my mirror is still hanging on the wall 😎😎#and i found a super cute fleece jacket and scarf in a 2nd hand store on the way to my old apartment..#sorry for the rant but this was just a little bit much loser happenings for me in one day#000

#delete later#god i wish i was neurotypical#found out my flatmate is going to be away for a few days after they left and bc id had no warning my anxiety spiked so hard#that i had such a wave of nausea i had to lie down#idk why that fucking happened. ridiculous. irs not like it really affects that much. just the thing of my home being changed in any way#without warning freaks me the fuck out. couldnt do any work til id laid under my weighted blanket at lunch#and like obvs this is an entirely me thing. i dont expect my flatmates to tell me every detail of what they're doing#not sure how to keep myself from freaking over it though. will think on it#but yeah. if i was neurotypical id be fine. i also want to play ky video games after work but im akways so exhausted that all i can do#is lie in bed under my weighted blanket. it is so frustrating. im so tired. not helped that pain is fucking me up in new ways#so im also upset aboit that. and that christmas is approaching abd that changes the routine completely#and is always overwhelming#but this year im staying home so i will be able to keep it quiet and low key and it'll be just me so i dont have to think about#masking in any way which is kind of nice as even the vibe of Christmas takes a lot oit of me#i enjoy the thought of it and always hate the day. same as my birthday. fun in theory. incredibly stressful actually#idk whether it's work stressing me oit long term but right now any change to what im expecting from my routine is making me#so so so frustrated and upset#i had to go get meds after work on tiesday and became so upset by it that i was awake until 1am and was super nauseous#not enjoying that as a primary symptom of anxiety rn. i find eating hard enough as it is#the hair washing routine has given ne sone stability this week which was very nice abd made me feel calm. abd mt physio routine#the energy it takes to do it is outweighed by the relief i get when ive done that part of my routine and then go to bed#work is hard. working full time is so hard. im coping but not well. defo think i need to try getting regular therapy sessions if only#to help me plan for what i need to do and work through coping strategies bc im really hitting a wall. i need to problem solve all#these things but im so exhausted that i can't. so they just keep piling up

#red said#I've been staying with my friend since Thursday night#they are one of my two amazing trauma-bonded pals from way back when#the Gay Goth Goblin Gang#as we have renamed the groupchat since everyone came out#and we have just had a chill fuckin time. we haven't really done anything other than that they had a gig on Thursday#which slapped btw#since then we've just like. sat around. watched cartoons and Auntie Donna. listened to the Trump arraignment.#talked a wee bit about trauma and mental health#most of the time we're hanging out on the balcony while they smoke up#uhhhh we went to their friends house and watched dont hug me I'm scared. we went out for wings. i met their boyfriend#these sorts of things. super chill super low key.#anyway i am in my way to bed and i gave them a hug and thanked them for a lovely weekend and they said#'thanks it's been nice to have a couple of days free of anxiety'#and i just. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ i love them so much#tbh last time i saw them one on one (cause the three of us catch up most Christmases) i was kind of a mega ultra me#mess. like i had been in therapy for like 6 months and i was in the break it down phase of breaking myself down and building back up.#and we were smoking up with their friends and they were talking about a stag do they'd gone to back home that my ex had been at#and my ex. I have. Experiences. that I'm fairly sure my friend is unaware of or they would NOT have been talking positively about him#so last time we were hanging out i was attempting to hide a full blown ptsd attack while also trying to be Charming to Strangers#cause i wanted to talk to my friend about the thing that i was dealing with but i was too scared to 🙁#this time has been REALLY nice. like super nice.#i haven't gone into close detail on anything but we've chatted broad strokes about a lot of both of our Shit#which is also what i found talking to our other bestie. we're all in a place where we can support each other without depleting ourselves.#and with enough distance from our teenage selves that we can joke about the whole nonces-hanging-around-14-year-olds thing#and in their case the violent homophobia thing#idk this is all getting really negative sounding but it's not negative!!!! i just love them!!!!#I'm really happy i made some time to come and just Be With My Friend for no reason with no structure other than Hang Out#it's nice!!!!!! i like them!!!!!!#also holy shit leeds has some good food
