The sun beat down on the golden dunes outside Dubai, the horizon stretching endlessly in waves of shimmering sand. The roar of dune buggies echoed through the vast desert, engines revving as the group raced and drifted across the sandy expanse. Lando Norris, sitting at the wheel of his buggy, had never felt so carefree—or so distracted.

In the passenger seat beside him, Amelie adjusted her sunglasses, a playful smile tugging at her lips as her hair whipped in the wind. She’d insisted on wearing the most impractical outfit for dune-bashing—an olive-green cropped tank top, denim shorts, and combat boots—but somehow, she still looked like she belonged in a photoshoot.

Not that Lando minded. In fact, he was struggling to keep his eyes on the trail ahead of them.

—Eyes on the sand, Lan,— Amelie teased, her voice cutting through the roar of the engine. She tilted her head toward him, grinning. —Unless you want to flip this thing.—

—If I do, it’ll be your fault for looking like… that,— Lando muttered, gesturing vaguely at her outfit with one hand while steering with the other.

She laughed, the sound ringing out over the hum of the engine. —Looking like what, exactly?—

—You know what I mean,— he said, his cheeks flushing under the sun.

Amelie smirked, leaning closer so her voice was just loud enough for him to hear. —If you’re trying to say I look hot, you can just say it, Lan.—

Lando let out a huff, tightening his grip on the wheel as the buggy crested another dune. —Fine. You look fucking hot. There, happy?—

Amelie burst out laughing, her hand resting on his thigh as she looked out over the endless expanse of sand. —Very. I just wanted to hear you say it.—

He glanced over at her briefly, his face softening despite his feigned annoyance. —You’re a menace, you know that?—

—You love it,— she shot back, her tone teasing but affectionate.

—Yeah, yeah, I do.— He grinned, shaking his head.

Ahead of them, Tom and Alisa’s buggy was kicking up a cloud of sand, and Lando followed their trail, weaving expertly around the dunes. A few more friends were scattered around, all part of the convoy tearing through the desert.

After a while, the group came to a stop at a particularly picturesque spot. The towering dunes framed the horizon, and the sunlight hit just right, painting everything in golden hues. Everyone climbed out of their buggies, stretching their legs and grabbing water bottles from the coolers.

Lando, however, had other plans. He reached into the back of the buggy and pulled out Amelie’s digital camera, the one she’d brought on the trip but barely touched.

—Alright, Ames, stand right there,— he said, gesturing toward a small crest of sand.

She raised an eyebrow, smirking. —Are you seriously trying to turn this into a photoshoot?—

—Yes. Now go stand over there and look pretty,— he said, his tone half-joking but determined.

Amelie laughed but obliged, walking up the dune and striking a dramatic pose. Lando adjusted the camera’s settings, grinning as he snapped a few shots.

—You’re ridiculous,— she called out, shading her eyes from the sun as she looked down at him.

—And you’re gorgeous. Now stop moving.—

She rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile, letting him take a few more photos before dropping the act and laughing. —Okay, that’s enough, paparazzi.—

—Not even close,— he said, lowering the camera to look at her properly. His voice softened as he added, —You look like a damn goddess, Ames. I’m serious.—

Her expression shifted, the teasing edge fading as she looked at him. —Lan…—

—What? I’m just saying what I’m thinking,— he said, his cheeks slightly pink.

She came back down the dune, her boots sinking into the sand as she reached him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him close. —You’re such a sap sometimes. You know that?—

—Only for you,— he murmured, his hands settling on her waist as he leaned down to kiss her.

—Oi, lovebirds!— Tom’s voice interrupted them, making Amelie laugh as she pulled back.

—What, mate?— Lando called back, not even bothering to look over.

—We’re here to race buggies, not watch you two snog in the middle of the desert!— Tom shouted, grinning as Alisa elbowed him playfully.

Amelie chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to Lando’s jaw before stepping back. —Guess we’re holding up the fun, Mr. Norris.—

Lando sighed dramatically, slipping the camera strap over his shoulder. —Fine. But this isn’t over. You still owe me a proper photoshoot later.—

—Oh, do I?— she teased, grabbing his hand as they walked back to their buggy.

—Yeah, you do. I’ll even edit them for you. Make ‘em all artsy.—

Amelie laughed, her fingers laced with his. —You’re too much, you know that?—

—And yet, you still love me,— he quipped, flashing her a cheeky grin.

She rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. —Unfortunately for me, yeah, I do.—

They climbed back into the buggy, and Lando wasted no time revving the engine. The group took off again, roaring over the dunes, the desert stretching endlessly around them. The wind whipped through their hair, and the thrill of speeding over the sand made Amelie throw her arms up in the air like a kid on a rollercoaster.

Lando couldn’t stop smiling. He loved seeing her like this—completely free, unguarded, and in the moment. She turned to him at one point, her laughter ringing out over the noise, and he swore his heart skipped a beat.

—You’re insane!— she yelled, her voice full of joy.

—Takes one to know one!— he shouted back, making her laugh even harder.

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the dunes, the group came to a stop again. This time, it was Ed who suggested they take a break and watch the sunset. Everyone parked their buggies in a loose circle, pulling out blankets and snacks as they settled in for the view.

Amelie and Lando sat side by side on a blanket, her head resting on his shoulder as they watched the sun sink below the horizon. The sky turned a brilliant mix of oranges, pinks, and purples, the colors blending together like a watercolor painting.

Lando pulled out her camera again, snapping a photo of the horizon before turning it on her. She caught him this time, swatting at his hand.

—Lan, come on. Enough with the camera.—

—Never. You’re too beautiful not to capture,— he said, grinning as he snapped another shot of her laughing.

—You’re ridiculous,— she muttered, though the blush on her cheeks gave her away.

He set the camera down, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her closer. —Ridiculous and madly in love with you.—

Her heart softened at his words, and she tilted her head to look up at him. —You’re lucky you’re cute, you know that?—

He smirked, leaning down to press his forehead against hers. —And you’re lucky you’re stuck with me.—

—Hmm, debatable,— she teased, but her smile betrayed her.

As the group packed up to head back to their hotel, Lando couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. This trip, this day, this woman—it was all perfect. And he couldn’t wait to spend the rest of the night reminding her just how much he adored her.

I don't think we talk about how awful the Dubai penthouse really is. I mean look at the dining room.

HUGE table that encourages distance (especially as there's only 2 of them living here). When it's only Louis with his little bowls of blood he's gonna sit there alone with the heaps of space available at this table and no one else sat at it and be reminded that he really is alone. The bland walls with only a painting or two. The crisp and cleaners of everything. No warmth.

Then there's Louis's (supposedly) relaxation room with Armand's magnolia tree and Armand's library. A library that book-obsessed Louis cannot access. He's wholly dependent on Armand to retrieve things from it. "Please daddy Armand, may I have a book?" 😒 We literally see this when Louis asks to see the removed pages. Those belonged to Claudia, Louis's companion/sister/daughter. Why should that be something he has to ask for? Bare, grey walls like concrete. Like a prison. White stones in the zen garden the same as those Louis was buried in.

Then the bedroom. LOOK AT THIS BED. ITS MADE OF ROCKS. You CANNOT convince me this is comfortable to sleep in. The width of it meaning Louis and Armand can sleep entirely separately. The coffins, padded as they were look so much more comfortable and we know Louis likes laying in his coffin more than a bed from when he was recovering from the full body burns and asked to be put in his coffin even though the room was sun-proof and he would have been safe on the bed. Then the bars surrounding the bedroom. He's sleeping in a cell. (I've seen other people point out the similarity between the bars over the arches and the turning of Louis which is a detail I LOVE for reasons unrelated to this post. Here's a visual)

Everything is controlled through Armand's iPad. Armand controls the lighting. Armand controls the window shades. It just shows this unequal dynamic between Louis and Armand. "Armand protects my happiness"?? No, Armand is the one with the power here. You're his pet. You're his ward. Armand is an owner, a parent, almost a jailer (I'm not saying Louis can't leave or Armand is Evil, at all, just that the power dynamic is heavily tipped towards Armand as he tries to prevent a repeat of San Francisco. I wholeheartedly think he's just so overprotective that it tips into unhealthy territory). Louis doesn't do anything for himself. This is not how romantic relationships work. This is the first clue that their relationship is not what it seems, the first sign that Armand is trying to keep control of the narrative.

There is not one thing that shows me that Louis enjoys his space. Nothing to show it's lived in. It's cold and plain and boring. Compare to Daniel's apartment, a man who has had a long successful career and also lives alone.

Warm. A little messy. Lived in. An apartment of Daniel's size is hardly cheap either. But you can feel that Daniel's space is Daniel's space. The Dubai penthouse has no identity. I know this is just a modern, high-value aesthetic but there are so many other 'rich person' aesthetics that could be adopted that would be comfortable. Even keeping the clean lines. Look at these...

Still clean, still modern but warm. Everything about the penthouse is depressing to me.

Long ass note under the cut, but tl;dr Louis & Old Daniel is my new brotp. Armand can't take it away from me. And Armand has a PhD in gaslighting

• The impersonal statements Daniel pointing out. The implanted phrases Armand supposedly gave to Louis. Somehow my mind recalls the "vampire bond" explanation. The way Louis said it in S1 is like he's reading from a book.

• Current Louis knows Santiago's plotting

• Of course Armand is a lame crypto man ��

• "His methodology is never violent" Oh, Louis

• "Armand preserves my happiness, even when I don't or can't" 🚨

• Louis still likes his coffin lined with a green silk 😭

• Young Daniel acts like a loser. I'm so sorry, I'm trying to take him seriously but he's funny lol

• "You're lonely. You're thrill seeking" Oh he reads him so bad. Why Louis stay with Armand tho?

• Louis and Young Daniel are just saying exactlyyyyy to one another lol

• Louis was agitated when Young Daniel pointed out the use of past tense on Claudia

• Louis is already in suicidal mind set even before Armand comes

• Interesting. The way Louis is reading his thoughts here. As in literal reading. He can't be in Daniel's mind (e.g. seeing what Daniel is seeing), his ability is limited to what Daniel's thinking. And Daniel is not thinking to himself, he just opens the Talamasca recordings right away. Thus Louis can only feel Hesitation from his mind, bu he doesn't know exactly what for

• "You don't have enough to fear from Paris?" On revealing their nature. I knew Louis had the man in the park an Roget. But why does this sound something bigger happened in Paris with the humans?

• "Is it the gremlin or good nurse tonight?" Well, he decided to be both tonight 💀

• "Throw pillow" "Use Claudia just to circle back to Lestat" So rich of him to shade Louis for his guilt over Claudia when he's the one who killed her.

• "It's all coming back" "Paris.." Louis forgets most of Paris?

• "She's calling me" I wonder if Louis is remembering Claudia calling him during her last moments

• No, I don't think Armand expected or waited for Louis to come into the sun like that. But he's definitely MAD because of that

• Armand is on mission to figure out what makes Young Daniel and Lestat interesting to Louis. Because Louis said he's dull

• "An instinct to self-efface" yes, both Daniel and Louis have that

• Armand kept Louis writhing in pain w/o blood for 4 days???

• Not @ Dubai Louis still giving excuses for Armand to Daniel 😭

• Armand calling Lestat. Lestat doesn't know where Louis is. Armand refuses to tell where they are.

• "You try! You were there!" Newfound friends found bickering lol

• "If you want insanity back, if you want to escape this prison of emphaty" Armand really says "Yes, I'm caging you, but you think this is bad? Well, you had it worse with him you wanna go back there??"

• Armand's tone during the coffin scene is very soft, but he's actually making himself clear he's mad MAD. Mad that Louis is trying to goad Lestat back to him again through the interview. Seeing how Louis always fast to reassure Armand with "all I said is trash" about Lestat, this is definitely an old problem to them. It makes me curious what made Louis stay with Armand post-Paris. What happened in Paris exactly? Lestat definitely knows Louis is alive and with Armand, unlike in the books. What has made him stay away? Did Louis pull a Nicki on him in Paris? Edit: wait, what if Armand reaches out to Lestat here is the equivalent of him going to NOLA in TVL and goes "news flash, Louis is actually alive. we were/are together"? Daniel doesn't hear Armand's first sentence to Lestat. and by that time, Louis does know lestat is alive but still numb 🤔 Armand mentions if Louis wants Lestat to chase him again, that's definitely about Lestat coming to Paris after the patricide.

• "All you had to do was ask" he says to the burnt Louis who is in need of his blood. A war flashback to "The silence is cruel. But you're never cruel" but in worse condition.

• Armand, making it clear he is extremely mad at Louis for trying to reach Lestat, that Louis is ungrateful cos he's been treating him better than Lestat, then dangling this channel of communication to Lestat in front of him, making Louis feels bad and coercing him to reassure him again. Armand has a PhD in gaslighting.

• The words from Armand afterwards. Louis certainly knows his answer but well, you can't answer that if you don't want Armand blowing up again.

• Armand only answers Louis back with Maitre once Louis assures him that he will stay with him.

• "I'm a bright young reporter with a point of view" Young Daniel is full of life and optimistic. Stubborn, refusing Armand's words, but they work. Then Louis came, saying it back to him, give him more words to re-find that motivation to live. Give him words to live on.

• Ngl I almost teared up to this scene with Louis and Old Daniel. They're precious as friends.

• To alter and surpress Daniel's memory, Daniel is already under a stage where he's very easy to be influenced and they give more drugs again.

• Old Daniel beeds to stay alive. I want Louis has one (1) friend that call out his and his boyfriend(s)' bullshits 😭

So a small concept 🥰

You, mase and Ollie&tilly are on vacation, maybe mase took you guys with him in Dubai. So today, he has a no training day and just spends the time to you guys, having a chilled day at the pool. Mason could see that you aren’t feeling that well since you woke up, felling so tired and a little dizzy. While you stay on the sun lounger in the shade, he plays with the kids in the pool but he is always checking on you to see if you’re okay. You try not to worry him or the kids bc you thought that it’s just one day and maybe it’s because of the sun and heat. So when it’s time of Tilly’s nap, he is like “go baby and take a nap with Tilly too bc I can see you aren’t feeling that good and you need one. Don’t worry about me or Ollie, we will be alright” while hugging you and kissing your head. You go in your room with Tilly as she got really tired and just gave her a fast shower and put her in the your bed while you have a shower too. So you quickly changed in some shorts and a large tshirt of mason and went to bed next to Tilly. You presumed she was fast asleep but she was wide awake fighting sleep bc she wanted to wait for you to cuddle her. This made you tear up a little bit and all you could think about is that your thoughtful, sweet little girl waited for you to love on her. She got all the love and you both fell asleep together. When mase and Ollie came in the room, they tried to not wake you up but mase couldn’t help but take a picture of you both bc you looked so cute. In the end, him and Ollie joined you guys in the cuddle and napped too. 🫂🩷
