So showing reality is just propoganda?? Everyone should just keep mum about a certain topic that is dangerous to society just because it's done by certain people of certain part of community?? You know what? THIS is Islamophobia, where you can't differentiate between Muslims and terrorism. The Kerala story is about terrorism not Islam. And it's reality not propoganda.
okay so answering you aggressively punctuated by aggressively punctuated question,
it is reality only to a certain extent. there is a difference between reality and 'favoured' reality. same as there is between history and official history. from what i've seen in the trailer and reviews of those who have watched it, there are details shown in the film of whose accuracy, there is no way to prove. bollywood has never done a good job escaping their tendency to add their own tadka to whatever story they hear when forwarding it just so it sells more. and if they really wanted to show the reality, they could have gone about it in a less dramatic and more dynamic manner. make an actual documentary, gather concrete evidence, allow space for more local experiences to be voiced, experiences of people who were there at the time and saw the plan being put into action, experiences of the real victims, of ex-participants, of parents and peers. this film is all about getting on the 'realistic film' train that vivek agnihotri started with tashkent and kashmir files. once people find out what works with the audience, they work it ragged until it's stripped completely of all meaning and intention and is just another money milking machine.
nowhere in that answer did i say anything about staying mum about these topics. because damn right issues so grave as this need to be confronted and talked about. but not without first considering opinions from all sides. vivek agnihotri and sudipto sen are both hindu extremists and i doubt they consulted a single muslim individual about how their films would impact and attack their counterparts. you need to be careful when releasing films with such heavy political and religious inclinations to hundreds of lakhs of people. the kerala story is extremely one sided and it is clear from the trailer itself.
what
bro look if we go around hurling buzzterms every time our religious preferences are threatened, where will be, haan? cool down a little. listen to me. this film is veeeery subtly sending you a message : that love jihaad is immoral, corrupt, a sin. you're not thinking straight when you want to convert to islamism, you're being manipulated. and when you do end up converting, you will be trafficked. that is the only destination of those who convert. which is inherently translates to : islamism is immoral, corrupt, a sin.
when in fact islamism is a beautiful religion and most of its language (you might want to get your hands on a rudraksh for this. gangajal works too) is very similar to that of hinduism. you will know that to be true if only you really studied -- and with an open mind -- and tried to understand the religion from the original core of its ideology rather than the numerous stereotypes people circulate like fliers in the country. converting to islam is just another choice and it doesn't mean a person has lost all logic and reason.
they're very welcome to show the reality and all that jazz, but do it in a way that doesn't harm people's perception of the religion as a whole. a distinction should be made between the terrorist institutions being talked about and the religion they follow. in most of the cases, these terrorists themselves are horribly misinformed about their religion and are brainwashed to think it means something it doesn't. in fact it should be necessary to give a disclaimer in the beginning itself that the terrorists being shown in the film have strayed miles away from the honest material of their religion and have made up an illusion of said religion and that the film in no way promotes or supplies to the idea that this religion necessitates such behaviour.
have them do that and then we can talk about reality some more <3

The Kerala Story Movie Review (2023) | Story and Budget
Tumblr media
"The Kerala Story" is a Hindi-language movie directed by Sudipto Sen that explores the story of three young women who fall victim to ISIS. The film's plot follows Shalini, a Hindu nursing student from Kerala, who becomes a target of an Islamic group that brainwashes her into becoming an ISIS terrorist. The movie also touches upon the controversial concept of "Love Jihad," in which Muslim men pretend to love Hindu girls to convert them to Islam. The movie portrays the insidious network that recruits and exploits brainwashed and transformed women from Kerala to support terrorism, sending them to Syria to become sex slaves or suicide bombers.
The writing in the movie is exceptional, with a seamless weaving of different periods and characters. At the same time, the dialogues are natural and realistic. The movie explores the complexity of family relationships, making it relatable to audiences of all ages while highlighting the importance of family values. Sudipto Sen's direction brings the story to life on the big screen, and the cast delivers standout performances, with Adah Sharma, Sonia Balani, and Yogita Bihani delivering exceptional performances. The music is soul-stirring and complements the story. At the same time, the cinematography captures the beauty of Kerala in all its glory, with lush green landscapes and bustling streets.
Overall, "The Kerala Story" is a must-watch for any cinema lover, with its exceptional writing, direction, cast, music, and cinematography. The movie displays a deep sense of emotional vulnerability and portrays a significant societal issue that needs to be addressed. The movie's story is based on actual events, making it even more sorrowful and emotionally charged.

‘The Kerala Story’ dropped from Tamil Nadu theatres
Tiruppur Subramaniam, president of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, refused to call this a ban. “It is purely based on market reasons.
Tumblr media
CHENNAI: Theatres in Tamil Nadu on Sunday decided to abstain from screening Sudipto Sen’s ‘The Kerala Story,’ citing its poor performance and the law and order issues. The Madras High Court had earlier dismissed a petition seeking a ban on the multilingual venture.
Tiruppur Subramaniam, president of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, refused to call this a ban. “It is purely based on market reasons. We don’t usually take up small-scale Hindi films for screening. The film has no star value and these films have a history of not doing well here. Only films with stars like Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan can generate buzz here.”
Mariappan, owner of the Chennai-based Albert Theatres, said audience safety is another reason for the move. “Audience safety is paramount. Screening this film could lead to law and order and safety issues.”
Protest against The Kerala Story in TN
Protests against the film were seen in several parts of the state since its release on May 5. The film’s trailer had generated controversy by claiming 32,000 Kerala women had been forcibly converted to Islam and recruited by ISIS. After the veracity of the figure was questioned by the Kerala HC, the filmmakers agreed to take down the trailer.
