WEEK 1 | Tutorial One

Studio Brief #1 (Set Up Tumblr)

Today I began exploring and experimenting with tumblr. I created my first ever account, selected a theme, and began creating posts. I started off with creating 13 posts and filling in the basic information including:

the week 

the studio brief task 

the self-directed brief task 

I found it quite difficult to navigate around tumblr. I use Pinterest regularly and have found Tumblr quite hard to use in comparison.

Successful Packaging Design: ‘SANS SODA’

The ‘SANS SODA’ packaging is eye catching due to an aesthetically pleasing   minimalistic vibe. A large amount of white space is used, drawing attention towards the brand name and splashes of colour. This directs the audiences attention to simply yet effectively engage with this brand. Having the exact packaging layout among each flavour, with a change in the colour of paint splashes, allows the brand to become easily recognisable and the flavour to to be easily selected.

Unsuccessful Packaging Design: ‘Shasta’

The packaging for ‘Shasta’ is outdated and cluttered, not only making the brand, but also the flavour’s of the cans unappealing. The swirling lines, behind the brand name, fail to appeal to the audience through leading lines, rather making it overwhelming. This is due to an array of dull colours such as brown along with majority of the writing being diagonal, making it hard to read.
