Any suggestions for an obscure SU AU that not many people know about?

ough my consumption of su media is very limited, but I think one I can suggest is the au @ faultlinescomic [tumblr link], that au has been around since 2015 and still going, it follows a homeoworld gem becoming slowly becoming a crystal gem (?) but you'll have to read it yourself I dont know much else that might be considered obscure so I'll write down a handful of what SU AUs I've consumed; @ revolver-d's Black pearl Comic [tapas link] - a tragic story about Black Pearl, Pink Diamond's first pearl, trying to find out what happened to her diamond through any means necessary - Very action packed, sometimes dark, but fun read. Fun characterization of the OG cast as well EchoFour's Hybridization series [AO3 link] - A Connie centric story where she becomes an artificial hybrid like steven (collections 1 and 2 are complete, the 3 most recent installment is on indefinite hiatus) -Nice Connie character study if I remember correctly, also neat connverse SteveDuck's Pilot series [AO3 link] - After Single pale Rose, Steven and the gang meet a peculiar alien dude, Pilot, and learn all sorts of stuff about him (The OG series is completed, theres a future series with a hand full of collections, most recent collection is incomplete, but theres enough content to sift through) -This series is charming, I find it pretty funny, there's some niche ideas in there but fun over all @pogostikk's Separation au [tumblr link]- a What If scenario where Rose was taken by homeworld before steven was born, leading to steven and pink steven to be separated by birth, becoming different individuals, also steven's a clown - a concept au, so no comics, just snapshots. Very fun ideas and lots of connverse prompts and of course I read the @pink-onyx-au, in case that wasnt obvious lol, I would hope that one isnt obscure Though when in doubt, just scroll the #steven universe au tag on tumblr, you might find smth ur lookin for! (feel free to leave au suggestions in the comments, so maybe I can read some cool stuff too)

I’ve thought of quite a number of changes in Spin-earl’s story and details of her everyday/talk/fight habits, but from the beginning I made a decision on how I could save her superiority in battle (she stretch and she strong af, imba bois), now that she doesn’t have any weight and physics forbid any normal fighting. And that decision stays.

I mentioned it in second chapter and it would be described directly in the-fight-on-injector scene; Spins would... well, SPIN in jump and DRILL her legs into the ground so she has the fulcrum.

Would it be graceful? Probably not. Does she care? Totally not.

So how I end up writing this post. You know that feeling when you think you thought of something cool, and then you find someone thought of that before you? Not a surprise they did, it’s not such an innovation of an idea, but you still feel weird.

So. I’ve been watching One Piece tonight and in 38th episode Luffy does this:

...and my face immediately goes beet-red.

I still hold to the idea but now every time I think of it I giggle nervously.

It took a lot of inspiration and work, but I am more than satisfied.

Meet the grinded (damned-)dozen and their couch-Pearl! Pyrope already fixed their appearance to an acceptable level and they learned a thing or a few, so they are a lot more like Eternal Servants! Not ready to fulfill their new duties yet, but... The ending result is the only thing that matters, right?

I noticed that Homeworld Pearls' clothes are mostly minimalistic, so I tried to do simplified versions of what other Gems 'wear', plus transparent-ing some of their fabric. The bigger part of the gemstone is gone, the thinner the gem is compared to 'before the grinding'. Quartzes changed a heck lot, don't you agree? There's something else they lost, but... I ought to save some secrets in case I start to write again :)

It seemed like the world itself stopped, blurred and started shaking. “H-how... h-h-h... H-h-HOW COULD YOU?!?!...” — shouted Pink Diamond at White out of chaotic mess of shock, fear, sadness and pure anger. The floor under her feet barely broke.

“...We are doing the best we can to prevent the further lack of resources we already have.” — White's smile faded a little, showing that her usual mood isn't actually as good as usual. The change of emotion on the Greatest Diamond's face also reflected on a small light pink face of a tiny A-Pearl which stood way more close to the Littlest Diamond and which just a few decades ago was just a lovable, innocent Spinel.

Now she was... different, and not because of shades of grey instead of colors. Her hairline and hairstyle changed a little, though her buns (?) still were in shape of hearts; there weren't huge pink gloves and shoes with only patterned ballerinas instead; her normal outfit partly changed to translucent (not as much translucent as real Pearl's though); but, most important, all her body became thin. Abnormally thin, even thiner than Pearls', and the very core of her being, her perfect-cut hot pink gem in shape of heart was now just a little light pink pearl, surrounded by black spot in form of heart, black as abyss, and even White's purest light couldn't lighten it up even a tiniest bit.

It was like Pink was looking at totally different gem, not her dearest Spinel, but the features of her face and the fact of the only Spinel existing in entire universe said otherwise. Pink's gem started stinging awfully.

“H-how could you!!! How could you have done THAT with my best friend?!?!” — now there was a huge crater in the floor. Pink Diamond yelled on top of her non-existing lungs.

White's smile disappeared completely, and if that change on White's face made Pink feel suddenly nervous, the exact same change on face of her only Homeworld friend after Pearl made her feel nauseous and caused even more pain in belly: without a smile, even a dead, facade White's smile, this childish, round face looked unnatural.

“We are fighting a serious war with Earth, Pink. Either way we wouldn't have to.” — White squinted, hinting Pink at what she is leading to.

It's your and your fault only.

Now watch this deadly pale face of your friend with hollow eyes and faint tear tracks on her cheeks frown and lecture you.

“S-Spinel... N-no... I...”

Her best friend couldn't hear her under White's control, but right now Pink haunted even an illusive chance to be heard and forgiven for her unfixable crime. She whispered her sorries, apologies and cried, cried with all of her heart.

“Consider it as one of consequences of your misbehavior, Starlight. At a state Homeworld is now, as long as war continues, drastic measures are justified.” — Pink Diamond wasn't sure if White said 'your' more dry than the rest; White's black eyes never left little Pink spot at her feet, her usual smile at the end of phrase returned.

Pink Diamond stormed into her room and grabbed her Pearl, squirming poor servant in very firm embrace as if she could disappear forever any moment.

“...M-my Diamond?” — asked Pearl shyly and confused in such low voice that even one Pebble wouldn't hear her. But Her Diamond heard.

“...The war must be stopped as soon as only possible...” — whispered Pink Diamond, and right at the middle of the phrase Pearl felt few teardrops on her back.

“Are you crying? W-what happened?!”

“Because of the lack of resources Homeworld started turning one Gems to anothers. By grinding their gemstones off, Pearl..!” — her voice trembled and was full of terror. Pearl's shock lasted way longer than she could count in such a state. Her eyes rounded in realization why her Diamond was so worried and winced at fear of what Pink talked about. Saving life on Earth, they sacrificed other gems’ lives here in Homeworld in such a twisted way. Pearl shook her head. Both evils were too big to choose.

“B-b-b-but we can't s-surrender n-now, R-Rose!” — she screamed in whisper, now pulling her short hair, desperately trying to come up with other solution and forgetting that everywhere but on Earth she couldn't call her master that name.

“We're not. There's another way, but I'm gonna need your help.” — Pink said unexpectedly serious and determined, looking right in Pearl's eyes.

She wished she hadn't had to do that. She wished Bismyth’s idea wasn't so actually good. She wished there was yet another way to fix the problem she created herself. She wished Spinel and dozens of other Gems had their original shape...

How much pain she must have been through...

She wished her best friend was fine... but she can't be saved now. Grinned off and controlled by White.

...If a Diamond's life, an all-encompassing grief and a lie as long as her existence are the price to stop the madness Homeworld started drowning itself in, she will pay it.

Why do I feel so... bad???

Somewhy the odd weakness and feeling of hollowness felt... both strange and familiar. Like it was sort of ok, yet Spinel could clearly see, and feel, and know that it’s totally not.

Chapter 1: A Weird Stranger

Finally, here's the first chapter (it's a link)! A somewhat introduction, which, (I hope), will be interesting for you.

And here is a sketch-drawing of some scenes, because I couldn't decide which should be presented in comic. And because I like drawing her. And because it will be easier for you to imagine what’s going on.

Does pink pearl still exist in this au and if she does where is she and or what happened to her?

Indeed she does, and her story is as in canon with no changes. I guess, the question appeared because of Prologue. But if you read Cpt1, you'll see that none of the CG know our girl, which would be impossible if she replaced Pink Pearl.
The answer is, Spinel was under White Diamond's control temporarily. You'll see later why and what for.

After a huge break, I'm back!

I decided to take more time to actually think of story details (past is very important and all the differences in Original Spinel and AP-Spinel behaviors are taking their roots there). To take this story with more responsibility.

I'm gonna look through the published chapters, change just a few tiny details (and check grammar, duh) and next part of fic will be out!

For now, have some sketches of this pinky sunshine in training. I'll publish a full picture of all the Grinded off Family later, too.

And this one was inspired by 'Komi-san is bad at communicating' manga frames, but I just couldn't help myself. Drawing Spinel cute is giving me reason to live :3

Also? Meet Second Couch-Pearl! It takes quite a while to her to warm up to the very idea of having a dozen of some- oh stars- off colors as Pearls-to-be, but eventually she starts to show her kinder nature!

One name, with maybe different numbers after.

They gain so much in common out of nowhere. And they used to be so different!

Original differences between different Gems suddenly seem so amazing. So beautiful in a way.

Spinel knew that a good laughter brings Gems together; make someone smile - and you can become friends... She never knew that a misfortune can do just as good, or even better.

Same dreams of the past.

Same intentions to hold on and to keep up.

Same feelings.

One broken family.

Did you know that Russians have a second name for number 13 - "a damned dozen"? It is an unhappy number, somewhy.
