MathArt Ideas from PBS
Ruth Asawa
Alexander Calder
(A mobile project I've done)
Carmen Herrera
Stuart Davis
Pablo Picasso
Their idea here is about can you see the three musicians... feels like there's better how many art, though.
Peg+Cat Paint-a-long game where kids try to draw a specific shape. This is a little sketchy, too. I like the design a shape, describe a shape challenge, where kids try to make a challenging shape on a geoboard, sit back to back with a partner and try to describe it well enough to make. Only number allowed is the number of sides.

ever come across a musician that you liked many years ago and completely forgot about? like 20 years ago my roommate liked dar williams, and i remember listening to her. i had completely forgotten she even existed. i was listening to another artist (stuart davis) that she had also recommended to me, and dar williams was listed as one of those other artists you might like sort of thing. they're not even similar artists except that she introduced me to both of them.
anyway, i don't think you're on tumblr much anymore, @chachatango, but if you ever are, this is obviously about you. And this bit from the song "february" kind of cracked me up a little:
And February was so long that it lasted into March And found us walking a path alone together. You stopped and pointed and you said, "That's a crocus," And I said, "What's a crocus?" and you said, "It's a flower," I tried to remember, but I said, "What's a flower?" You said, "I still love you."
miss you, roomie.

“I wanted to take a look at two ways the Phenomenon can be viewed. As a control system or, as a developmental driver. Quick note in what follows, when I say Phenomenon, it’s with the big 'P', it includes all the phenomena from UFOs, UAP, abduction, contact, the presence of highly advanced non-human entities, all the spokes in the wheel.
Jacques Vallee has long proffered that the Phenomenon is a control system. I have gradually come to feel the Phenomenon is a developmental driver. These are but two interpretations, and they could actually both be true, given that we are dealing with a multiplicity of entities and anomalies. But I thought it would be interesting to explore some distinctions between them. So what follows is simply my own personal, informal look at each.”
