January 28 . Feast day of St. Thomas Aquinas
Here we see the greatest mind of the church in his natural habit-at.
I decided to make a younger look for him since some of his notable events also happened when he was young.
Happy feast day to the greatest theologian!

There’s something so holy and intimate about the way St. John refers to himself (not sure if exclusively or just pretty often) as “the apostle whom Jesus loved” in his gospel. Not only is his sense of self centered on Jesus in a loving act of surrender to God, but also it manages to tie God as his as well. It’s saying, yes, I’m nothing without God. It’s also saying God wouldn’t want to be anything without me, either. Where do you find this kind of trust. Where do you get this kind of Love

step father
when Mary
had finished her labor
lying weary and cold
on the straw
there was no one to heat water
to wash the child
but him.
no servants to bring silk
to comfort the maiden,
no hands to hold the child while she washed
but his.
hands too rough to hold God.
but, God, there were no other hands.
the baby was so small and perfect
that he could not have imagined it was anyone but God.
and so Joseph knelt when he lifted Him.
the sweet child was crying.
how to make Him still?
a faint instinct-memory
of the comfort of great and secure hands
arose in him.
Joseph set one thumb
upon Jesus' cheek - his only son.
and Jesus' face turned into it instantly
with a heart-breaking confidence of love.
for Joseph had loved Adonai confidingly all his life:
since kneeled, early-morning lisped prayers, eyes turned upwards
but had never known before the awful joy
of being loved confidingly
by God.
to have God
in one's own arms
so small
one's own child
in all the ways that mattered.
so while Mary slept at last
Joseph held God
in his arms
to keep Him warm.

Welcoming St. Brigid into our home.
I don’t always do things by exact dates, but often take my cues from nature. With so much of my practice having Slavic roots I associate the coming holy days with Perun and thunder—so the thunderstorm last night told me it was time to start!
Step 1 — hanging a Brigid cross at our front door to invite her in.
Brigid crosses are also associated with thunder, and were said to protect from thunder and lightning.

‘The text goes on: "And Joseph died, being one hundred ten years old." Why did it indicate to us his age, too? For you to learn how long he had been entrusted with the control of Egypt. He was seventeen when he went down to Egypt, and it was when he reached the age of thirty that he appeared before Pharaoh and interpreted his dreams. He then held complete control of Egypt for eighty years. Do you see how the rewards were greater than the hardships and the recompense manifold? For thirteen years he struggled with temptations, suffering servitude, that illicit accusation, ill-treatment in prison. Since he nobly bore everything with thankfulness, accordingly he attained generous rewards even in the present life.
Consider, after all, I ask you, that as a result of that short period that he endured servitude and imprisonment he occupied a royal position for eighty years. For proof that it was by faith that he did all this and for the same motive gave directions about the transfer of his bones, listen to [the words of the Letter to the Hebrews]: "By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites" (Heb. 11:22).’
— St. John Chrysostom

I am completely and utterly convinced that nothing that St. Paul has ever said goes harder than “For it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

Prayer for those in Chronic Pain
Lord come to our assistance, make haste to help us O'Lord. For it is you who is truly good and you who is truly God.
Allow us to face our pain with a humble Catholic heart. For when we are in pain allow us to tend to our needs physically and tend to our needs spiritually. We know Lord that you can perform miracles but sometimes they are not in the ways in which we can perceive. Sometimes there is a purpose bigger and greater than we could ever know.
As Catholics we must accept that pain and suffering are a part of life. We must devote ourselves to honor the sacrifice in which you have made for us. Therefore for this pain and suffering we are seemingly to endure for the remainder of our Earthly lives, grant us the serenity to offer our experience as penance. Grant us the grace and wisdom to sanctify our suffering just as the Saints in Heaven have. This chronic pain that we endure Lord, allow it to strengthen our souls for what is life without suffering? When we suffer may we always remember we do not suffer alone. In this prayer I pray that we remember we are in communion in our suffering with each other and most importantly we suffer with Jesus the Christ. Whom in his suffering we can seek refuge for when he was fasting in the desert, flogged at the pillar, crucified on the cross, he too experienced our earthly aches and pains.
O' Lord we pray the when we seek help for our pain, we are heard by the medical staff. Please grant the medical staff the heart and the knowledge to listen to our sorrows and relieve us of this pain. Most of all Lord we will not give up the hope on you or on us. We pray that one day all could be better or that relief is on its way. We pray too that we may know peace with our bodies. All that we ask is that you soften our souls so that your will be our will and that our hearts soften and our wills be strong to continue through our lives in this suffering.
We ask that St. Jude, St. Lawrence, St. Gemma, St. Lydwine and all the angels and saints to pray for us to the Lord our God.
In his Holy Name we Pray
Father, Son, Holy Spirit
Amen
