On the 10th of June, thirty two years ago, "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior" was released in Japan for the SUPER FAMICOM.

Street Fighter II revolutionized the fighting game genre with its roster of eight distinctive characters, each with unique moves and special abilities. Players engage in one-on-one combat, using a combination of punches, kicks, and special moves to deplete their opponent's health bar. The game's competitive two-player mode and precise controls contributed to its widespread popularity and enduring legacy in the gaming industry.

The second collection of Street Fighter games released by Capcom was released in November of 1998 on the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, the latter released only in Japan.

Hyadain: The World Warrior

Anybody miss Hyadain? The guy who produced Share The World, the eleventh opening of One Piece? Don't lie, you did. Today, we go further back into the past with one of his filk tunes that helped to put him on the map in the first place. That tune is The World Warrior, a song sung by the cast of Street Fighter 2. Entranced? You should be. The only thing that would make this better is if Heat Man from Mega Man had a guest verse.

Guile's Stage

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Arranged)

Happy Fourth of July to those who celebrate. I figured it'd be appropriate to choose this day for Guile's theme, which is one of the greatest of all time.

Specifically, this is the FM Towns port version, better known as the 3DO version. There's no information online on who did these arrangements, as the 3DO port doesn't have credits.

So I will give the credit to Yoko Shimomura of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy fame, and one of the greatest composers in the industry. She created every sound and theme in Street Fighter II World Warrior.

Every stage theme was created to fit not only the location and nationality of the fighter, but also their personality, both obvious and underlying. Did Shimomura factor in Guile's tragic past and hunger for revenge when making this track?

This arranged version feels like the logical next step from the CPS1 and CPS2 versions. It's triumphant, with a higher pitch than other versions. Something about this soundfont feels magical and ethereal, and nothing else really sounds like it.
