Why I got on the ship, why I am still on it and why everybody is entitled to their opinion

I have read the Lukola tag on tumblr since spring last year as a guest and just signed up a few days ago. I’m not into sm at all. I like real life. But in this matter, I have something to contribute, bc the thoughts of bloggers helped me to get rid of negative emotions surrounding this topic. I’m not a native speaker of the english language, so I will try my best to describe what my motivation for getting on and staying on the ship was and is.

Probably like most of you, I was introduced to Pen and Colin in S1 of Bton. It seemed like a fun show. In episode one, while witnessing their interactions in the ballroom scene, I was intrigued by our very beloved Polin. I remember pausing the show bc I needed to know if there could be a romance between those two characters and I learned about the books and bought the ebook of Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. 

While this type of Novell is not my cup of tea, I still decided to read it bc I was eager to know the outcome of their story.

Continuing the show I was so struck by the chemistry of Pen and Colin, that I suspected the actress and actor playing them could actually be a couple in real life. So I did another research online to learn about them, their projects and, bc I was curious, about their privat life. At the time Mr. Luke Newton was dating his gf Jade and Mrs. Nicola Coughlan‘s love life was a mistery.

Even while watching S1 and S2 my interest was pinned on the interactions of our beloved Polin. And as soon as Netflix announced S3 will be Polin season, I was happy! While I got impatient for waiting for the release of Polin season, I started searching the internet for news. Oh boy, why did I do that? I learned about the breakup of Jade and Luke during filming of season 3. HBS in 2023 and that WT just started.

I watched every single Interview I could find on YT and was flabbergasted. There was so much chemistry! It was on another level. Now I was convinced they were secretly dating. I knew they were co-workers and good friends and the only thing I could think of, was that they finally fell in love on set of S3. 

I was waiting for some confirmation of N and L being together. Instead the Instyle article about L and A dating was released. What? WTF!? You kidding me? No way! Is this a rebound situation? 

I couldn’t wrap my head around it. What did I whiteness till then? Had N and L been the goods of PR, just selling the new season? I was lost, but couldn’t let go. Maybe dating A was just a rumor. So I continued watching clips and interviews paying more attention to details. There I was, I had already boarded the SS Lukola without realizing it. Surrounded by the endless ocean there was no escape. I was addicted. 

While searching, I found more information on tumblr. Thanks to all the great bloggers and all the helpful comments, I felt better immediately. Great, there are partners in crime. All willing to share their thoughts, opinions and information.

The last year was so much fun reading it. I simply loved it! Until a few weeks ago… People startet to hate on each others opinions viciously. A ridiculous war got in play. Ruthless enemies, former Lukolas now Ankes, Jakolas and even the Lukola-endgamers were bitching on the Lukola tag. Fighting over an opinion based on different views of events. Senseless hating on the others, especially the ones who were still on the ship believing in Lukolas bond. That kind of behavior didn’t make any sense to me. What’s the problem? Why not let the others be? Why does everybody want to convince the opposition? Blogs started hiding because their opinion got unpopular. What a shame! 

I think all of us can freely have our own opinions and conclusions of events. I do not care about trolls. I strongly believe Nic and Luke are a married couple since last autumn. I even think there could be a surprise on the way. Yes, I said that. I am fully aware I could be totally wrong and all the assumptions I made bc of several incidents (for example actions on the WT, comments in interviews, chaos week, claddah ring, total silence of Lukey Newts in the last few month) are false. 

And if they are: Nothing bad will happen. As long as you only have an assumption and you do not hate on someone, especially Nic and Luke, everything is fine. The only toxic thing is people hyping things up and making it about themselves. By not accepting that another person is allowed to have a different opinion, weather you like it or not, you are a part of the problem. The question is how all of us handle emotions that come with other ppl not sharing our believes.

If tomorrow is the day we get a video of Luke singing ‚Happy Birthday’ to A on a beach in Cyprus and telling the world that she is his most beloved gf, then so be it. We all would be relieved of the burden of not knowing. If that happens, I will still ask: „Who is Nic‘s husband?“ (I suppose his name is not Bert). Bc as nice of a young man Jake seems to be, I would be utterly surprised if it is him, but also would be able to accept a romantic involvement.

Touches, kisses on cheeks, holding hands, putting you arm around, sitting or standing next to someone, going for dinner together, wearing the same hoodie or hat, sitting in someones kitchen or living room, going together on vacation, bathing in the ocean together, sunbathing on a hotel balcony, buying groceries and all the other usual things probably all of us did with a friend are sadly not a confirmation of a romantic relationship. So we still do not know who is with whom. We are only assuming a certain connection by evaluating the main clues.

I will stay on the ship until there is any confirmation of N or L regarding another partner or I see actual proof with my own eyes. And it has to be a picture of one of them french kissing another person or any sort of declaration of N or L! In the meantime everyone is entitled to think whatever they want to be true!

What do you assume, believe or wish?

Shipping doesn’t have to be tough. Leaving a ship is not a crime. I will probably gracefully leave at the next stop if there will be confirmation that N and L are with other ppl. Then the Endgamers will have more space and staying is also fine. I simply believe if N and L did not get together on the WT they are just friends… but who knows?

Do you want to know why I think Luke is not showing up? Because Nic wants to keep their relationship private, as she seemingly always did in the past. While he seems to be such a genuine guy who would love showing his relationship to the world, as he always did in the past, but simply got so much hate for everything he was doing that he is preferring to hide. This is also just a theory, again, I could be totally wrong. We will see.

Till then remember: Trying to insult each other is not supporting your argument. Nobody has to agree with anybody! Also nobody has to argue with anybody! Just share your opinion respectfully and enjoy the possibility of exchanging information with others on this platform. A little sarcasm is therefore essential.

Leave the creature outside to the lightning bugs and the quarter moon and the shifting shadows of the woods along the gap-toothed fenceline of his yard, and then come out in the morning to nothing more than a paw print and the clean reassurance of sunlight to tell him nobody’s there, to ignore the prickle of discomfort that shivers its way across his body as goosebumps and raised hairs when he thinks about turning his back on the memory of those red eyes.

🗣️Eddie Munson Fic Recs

This is gonna have a sappy start before I get into the fic rec portion: but I just wanted to say that at the end of May 2022, I was finishing up my first year of law school. It was rough, challenging, lonely, and basically everything you’d expect and I was in a bad place and the fandom I’d been in was slowing down just naturally. I truly wish I could remember how I even became aware of Eddie Munson because stranger things wasn’t really on my radar anymore and whoever I followed at the time that started to veer off into Eddie-mania, thank you. In the two years since then, I’ve graduated and become the worlds babiest lawyer and I genuinely owe a lot to this fandom and community on here for giving me a fun, usually safe, creative place to escape to when it got rough.

I’m just hoping to maybe remind people that there are already an incredible, incredible amount of existing stories to read and talk about that deserve your attention and love if you’re looking to read some Eddie stories. Some of these will be fics I’ve recommended before but I’m going to try my best to pull together writers and fics that I love and think everyone should read in the hopes that someone like me who still scrolls through eddie tags looking for my nightly bedtime story can find something new to them to read! ✨

It’s a really lovely story of unplanned pregnancy and two characters not realizing they’ve been smitten for each other the whole time and I love it

look this is really probably unnecessary, but I've seen tons of posts about how everyone is mad about the page that's going to post unmasked pics of the st guys and how outrageously disrespectful it is to them and well... I gotta say that it's just not that deep.

it's been pointed out that they've only ever said that 'their identities aren't important to the music or the story'. and that's it in terms of the "extreme lengths" they go to hide their identities.

i'm a regular follower of the reddit page where their identities are openly discussed and there is a decent amount of evidence that one of them or someone from their team lurks there and plays around a little with that community. ie, a few of the recent "the summoning solo shenanigans" were suggested in that thread and then seen on stage the next show. but who knows.

some of the guys are actually still participating in other media to a small extent. one of them still streams with a friend on twitch often. one of them just put out some older official music project on Spotify. one of them gets his new tattoos posted unmasked on his tattoo artist's page.

look, I'm not saying that this person who plans to bring this stuff to Tumblr shouldn't be warned about and of course everyone should have the opportunity to block and avoid it to keep their experience of the band how they prefer. that's no question how it should be.

but like... everyone is saying that this person who's starting the unmasked blog is like, evil and so disrespectful to the band. and I think that's just not right. it's their right to start whatever kind of page they want. it's everyone else's right to avoid it.

like I said, this is not really going anywhere, and it's not personal, I just have seen so many people bashing that person on a personal level and I just gotta tell someone, it's not that deep. thank you for reading

To me it is that deep, from what i’ve heard there was a major panic on Instagram in 2023 bc freaks were using info on there to harass II and his family. Hell he still alters his voice in videos, which you only do if you’re concerned someone is dedicated enough to scrape the internet with audio of your vocal patterns. I’ve seen video footage of Vessel cussing out a guy at a festival for yelling real names in the audience. There is direct evidence that the band members dislike off-stage info being known and shared, and that a portion of Sleep Token’s fanbase cannot be trusted to respect the secrecy that allows the band members to live comfortable lives relatively peacefully and out of the public eye.

In my personal opinion, your examples of how they’re still on other social media, and that you know that info abt them are reinforcement of my dislike for unmasked data aggregates. Unless the tattoo artist’s posts or the twitch stream is tagged #SleepToken there is probably a reasonable expectation that they don’t want band related attention for those things. Even if somebody does recognize them as the band members, it would be a minority population if it weren’t for subreddits and archives directly connecting dots between those things and Sleep Token, which is presumably why you have that info yourself in the first place.

By aggregating and collecting unmasked info, a resource is being provided that essentially says “Hey i know these guys have almost entirely retreated from the internet for their own safety and comfort…but here’s their names and faces and loved ones and colleagues and past projects and every little activity they do in their spare time. All gathered together and directly tagged and marked in relation to the band they’ve purposefully tried to anonymize and distance their real lives from”.

It’s stalker behavior, it’s unhealthy, it could be genuinely dangerous for the members if the wrong person made use of it, and i reserve the right to passionately condemn it.

i'm not used to praising myself bc i am my biggest hater, not my biggest fan, but i was tagged by the lovely @gothcsz to participate in @jolapeno 's 'tootathon' challenge, and i originally was going to pass up the opportunity butttt i suppose i'll *try* to say nice things about myself but i love the people in this fandom so i always enjoy participating in the fun, particularly something that promotes positivity when fandoms can be so toxic sometimes. honestly, i might need to steal this idea and make a positivity challenge for the resident evil fandom (which is what i primarily write for) because we are in need of good vibes…

*because my blog is multi-fandom, my masterlist is getting big overall, so i'm going to link my javi fics and my joel fics (along with my liztober '24 because there are a couple other pedro character fics on there)

i haven't been a part of the pedro pascal fandom for long, so my work here is limited, but i will share a few things:

it's never over (javi p x reader) - a two part fic (part one is from javi's perspective, part two is from reader's)

I really liked the concept for this fic and it was something that I wrote bits and pieces of for a while. I tried to change it to a single pov because i think i’m not someone who does well with pov switches like this, but it never captured the full scope of the story i wanted to tell when i tried to make it only javi’s or only reader’s. Ultimately, while i’d like to add onto this fic because i would like to expand upon reader’s pov, i like the story that i told in the end (i love angst). Maybe there will be a part 3…

2. and for dessert? (javi p x reader) - a short, mildly smutty story about javi and a housekeeper at a hotel

i hated this fic for a while because i got caught up in the numbers but i reread it last night and i was like, ‘okay, the concept is incredibly silly, but i guess in some way, that’s the point’. Anyway, when i looked back and stopped focusing on the numbers, i realized that i actually really like this fic, and probably wouldn’t change anything about it.

3. anniversary antics (joel x reader) - joel and his wife getting it on ... heavy breeding kink here

i wrote this in an hour or so. it just came to me. straight from the smutty brain (which is rare). this is one of the few fics of mine that i re-read and actually think 'oh this is hot'!

4. everything's bigger in texas (joel x reader) - for my liztober celebration! reader loses her virginity to joel and it's a sweet and short smut.

this is my second most popular tumblr post of all time (so it doesn’t need promo here), which is very funny because i almost didn't post this at all. i thought the size kink might be too basic and overdone but i also really wanted to write an 'older' reader as i have a tendency to write younger readers (which is partially because i am 24 and have never been older than 24 vs i have been 21 etc.) and i wanted to get away from the typical innocent virgin thing.

and also, we're gonna get personal here... i'm pretty sure i have vaginismus and so it's really really difficult to have sex. i've been shamed or questioned rather than reassured during situations where i struggle or am entirely unable to. reader in this fic was not specified to have vaginismus because i was trying to keep it light and smutty, flipping it around into a size kink, but it was a bit healing to write tbh.

mat barzal (obvi number one bc he's the loml)

@barzysunflower - lolo (she/her) is the first mat barzal writer i actually read and when i tell you i binged her masterlist???? it's so good, my favs are the you are in love series and the unexpected series!

@thewintersoldierdisaster - literally anything she writes is great, i go feral for it tbh. she writes for a few canes players as well, but my favs are the mat fics (for obvious reasons being that i'm in love with him). especially the fics with the baby (whose name i cannot remember) and when mat calls reader squeaks???? i'm in love.

@islesnucks - clara (she/her) has so many good mat fics and headcanons (seriously, headcanons are underrated and need more love in general). i think she was also a writer that made me fall in love with mat because she just writes him as the dream romantic hero every single time.

@hockeywhy - i am almost positive that they are tired of me tagging them, but the truth is, they are the writer of my all time fav mat series caught in the middle! but they also have other great mat fics and matthew tkachuk fics that i've enjoyed almost as much! i don't think they're as active anymore writing wise BUT if you want amazing writing and haven't checked them out, you should!

@bagopucks - ella (she/her) hands down my fav auston series is her single mom!reader series. it's the perfect balance of angst and found family and it's just flat out wonderful. she also has a masterlist full of other fics too, that series just happens to be my favorite. but if you wanted another fav of mine, read the jack hughes fic "a little funky," it's about a reader with ocd and as someone with ocd, it was really impactful!

@chewingcyanide - emme (she/they) literally writes the most poetic fics i think i've ever read. everytime she publishes something new, i am stunned. seriously, i honestly take notes from her writing style. stories aside, if you wanted to become a better writer, check out her stuff, it'll really inspire you to use more descriptive words! her breakable heaven series is what introduced me to her writing and it's phenomenal!

@babydollmarauders - faithlynn (she/her) i'm almost positive that faithlynn was the first hockey writer i really followed because jack hughes was my gateway drug into the hockey world. she has so many fun series and aus going on not only for jack but for other devils players, so if you love the devils, definitely check her out!

@jackhues - naqia (she/her) also has a really fun series called mockingbird and it's technically more focused on the friendship/brother-sister relationship jack's gf (reader) and quinn have but it's really sweet. she also has a great auston au as well!

@ladylooch - b (she/her) is great! i put her in this category because i feel like she writes a lot for a lot of different players. i've loved her stuff with nico and mat alike. she also has a pretty consistent schedule as well from what i've gathered (which, girl, share your secrets please)

@troubatrain - kim (she/her) wrote my fav beau fic (set it up) and has written some really good fics for matthew tkachuk too! i absolutely adore the soccer player!reader fic and the blurbs that go along with it!

@comphersjost - m (she/they) again, i've said it once, i'll say it again SHE WROTE MY FAV MATT SERIES OF ALL TIME (all for you). I GO BACK AND READ IT OFTEN. literally had me weeping at times. she also wrote some other fics for auston that i've really enjoyed as well!

@sydnikov - sydney (she/her) has written some realyl great fics for andrei and some for nico hischier and jack hughes (and a few others i think, but those are the ones i've read) and they're just fantastic! she's also a canes fan if you want more canes content!

this meant that he called them for stupid things like "if something explodes in your microwave do you call the fire department", and not-stupid things like "help me open a bank account because metropolis bank has laws that won't let me do it by myself as a minor"

ALSO the story premise was just so unique in GENERAL omfg it was the first fic where i maxed out 30 tags like i didn’t know tumblr had tag limits until i read io’s fic and i just had so much more to say too 😭 WE WEREN’T MOOTS YET WHEN I READ IT BUT TRUST IF WE WERE I WOULD’VE RB’D W 10 PAGES MLA FORMAT ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY!!!!! MOSS’ WRITING IS ONE OF A KIND I HAVE NOTHING TO COMPARE IT TO BC IT’S SUCH IN A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN!!!!! i think its the way that they have 1) the most interesting concepts & character dynamics first and foremost that gets me bc how does one even think of a stablehand!reader? and how is it that it fits so UNBELIEVABLY perfectly with a royal!gojo??? i remember reading the fic for the first time and i was just in awe of how it felt like i was THERE which leads me to point 2) the way moss uses settings to invoke emotion is insane……… from the blood and dark clearings and metal of knight!suguru to the purgatory of youth of suguru & reader and how they connect with sharing fruit to the quaint yet vast green openness of the fields where stablehand!reader works with their horses which then invites satoru in bc the reader just holds a Steadiness and Calmness that infiltrates everyone around them………… all of it is just delicious. JUST YUMMY. (also vamp!suguru? very cunty very sexy i need him CARNALLY.) also for moss… if you’ve ever read a fic of theirs you’re just gonna Understand how insane it is that he’ll just drop the most life-changing quote/paragraph and then go about the story like . Can I Get My Inhaler For A Second I Can’t Breathe……… i HEAVILY implore you to read any moss fic you can because you will get grittiness in one, nostalgia in another, fluff in one, and eroticism in another . just truly and honestly a league of their own when it comes to fic writing <333 this is an i love moss stan account idgaf

“weeping, carved open hearts” by @teddybeartoji — ONE OF MY FAV TOJI FICS EVER RAHHHHHHHHH this one is more hurt/comfort WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TYPES OF FICS!!!!! i hold toji so close to my heart and mickey writes him so GENUINELY and so three-dimensionally — she makes him feel like a REAL person in the world with all his faults and insecurities and above all else — his LOVE! it’s like mickey plucks the beauty of the mundanity of real life such as a tree in a storm or a shampoo bottle or even a simple emotion like sadness and CURATES it into something so profoundly beautiful… genuinely he left me in shock & awe with how STUNNING this fic was and how REAL the emotions were from both reader & toji, it was like i was a fly on the wall just watching a true & genuine conversation play out! out of all the tags i have ever written on a fic, i’m most proud of the tags i left on mickey’s fic bc i think it’s the first time where i didn’t just regurgitate information and actually took in what was written by the author & made my own inferences and basically Used My Brain while also waxing poetic about mickey’s writing & the fic :3 ALSO YOU HAVE TO READ “I HUNGER TO COMMIT THE ACT OF TOUCH” . ALL PARTS YOU NEED TO READ ALL PARTS SO FAR AND GET YOUR LIFE CHANGED!!!!! the action the blood the yearning the eroticism the KNIGHTS. moaned loud as FUCK that’s my bad

“where you lead me, i’ll follow” by @twentyfivemiceinatrenchcoat — THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROSE AND LIFE-CHANGING WRITING YOU WILL EVER READ! i remember reading this fic and being in complete and utter awe because it never once felt like i was READING something, it was like i was LIVING it! the conversations on that rooftop played out like a movie in my head and that’s genuinely the greatest compliment i could ever give — i felt like i was privy to a conversation that was so intimate between two people (suguru & reader) and i felt so CONNECTED to the writing and the emotions invoked through the writing! ari has such a beautiful way of showing the power of adoration/devotion within friendships/relationships and they just have such a strong GRASP on the characterizations of suguru depending on the vibes of the fic they’re creating. this fic especially talked about genuine feelings that people in their late teens/early twenties go through and idk i just felt so much better after reading it :’) all of ari’s writing invokes something in anyone who reads it, they truly have THE midas touch! <3 also i could add so many more fics underneath the fluff/sfw category but i highly recommend going through their masterlist and finding out for yourself how consistently amazing, thought-provoking, & gorgeously atmospheric their writing is! <333 definitely my favorite suguru writer on the planet 🫡 like genuinely just go through their entire MASTERLIST it’s ALL hits 🙂‍↕️

“metanoia” by @storiesoflilies — RAHHHHHHH okay for metanoia……….. if you have EVER read a lily fic you will KNOW how stunning her writing is. like you can’t help but just be so INVESTED especially because her love for toji shines through every word, you see the way reader talks about toji and fall in love with him AS you’re reading!!!! i think her grasp on his character is second to none in this fic especially for a younger toji — he’s shy & awkward & rough around the edges but at the end of the day, i think all he wants is love and reader is there to give it to him and vice versa :’) the beautiful ways that lily interspersed physics and romance………. when i tell you my JAW dropped. the quotes in this fic will have your mind reeling from how insanely good it is omfg… and YES the ending is a cliffhanger BUT she’s coming out with “hiraeth” soon and i was lucky enough to read it in advance and let me tell you………. you are in for a TREAT! ALSO PLEASE READ “CRIMSON REVERIE” IT’S REALLY AMAZING AND SO GORGEOUS <333 i love greek myth and then intersperse that with lily’s prose??? YAWPPPPPP

“i want to kiss you” by @arminsumi — okay i wanted to add this bc it is my favorite fic series of all time and i’ll tell you why… the absolute LOVE and ADORATION that satoru & suguru have for reader is astounding and the idea of a blossoming friendship between people from different cultures is so fucking precious… i genuinely have never read a fic w this premise/concept before and it is truly SO unbelievably beautiful :’) op does a WONDERFUL job of creating a soft, HUMAN atmosphere/friendship -> relationship between reader & satosugu :’) i can’t WAIT to read the next chapter hehe i truly recommend this fic series with every fiber of my being <333

It’s probably my Eris Vanserra one-shots here. I managed to make Eris insanely cunty and hot😩

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

I mean honestly, anything smutty that I wrote (which isn’t much). I’m ace spectrum so I generally don’t read much smut and writing it is a pain, but I’m getting the hang of it now!

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

Honestly surprised that all my Azris/Eris Vanserra content was so popular (thank you @talibunny30 for commenting on my fic❤️) so I guess this means I’m writing more azris in 2025!

I wasn’t expecting a whole lot of engagement because it’s a little niche, but I am OBSESSED with my story The Illyrian Princess. It’s about Emerie fighting for the Illyrian women and it also features one of my favorite rarepairs Emerie/Nuan!

Pretty much everyone is new to me because I’m very new to fandom LOL

YES. I wrote When the Steam Settles with my wife @sonics-atelier , which is Rhysand x Cassian plus a little bit of Azriel! It started because we were kind of joking around about how homosexual some of the things the bat boys said to each other were, and we were making jokes of things that would happen between them and then we got the idea to actually write a scene with them!

12. What accomplishments are you proudest of?

I used to quickly post my fics without editing them because I was afraid I’d chicken out and cringe at what I wrote, but I’m finally rereading and editing my fics now (which basically started bc i wanted my secret santa gift to be perfect)!

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

That kudos and comments are not reflective of quality. I know people say that a billion times, but it’s true and something i still need to internalize. I’ll write the most jaw dropping fic and have 2 kudos and a comment and then I’ll write some shit while high at 2 AM and get 70 kudos overnight. I can assure you that at least one person enjoyed your fic and you should write it for yourself and that one person who loves your stuff :)

14. Any advice you’d like to share with new or aspiring writers?

Try not to overwhelm your writing with nonstop dialogue or nonstop description. If you find yourself doing one of those things, change something up. If you have too much dialogue, describe facial expressions or a shifting in posture. If you have too much description, add a small conversation.

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

To finish my WIPs, LOL

If we're just counting the ones that already have a chapter up on AO3, four. If we're counting the ones that haven't been posted yet, I'm not entirely sure by at least 10 lol

4. What was your favourite thing you wrote?

This is tough! I loved VSGTSAS for obvious reasons, but castles crumbling/TFTAB is my baby. I really don't think I can choose!

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

Oh, definitely cold woman and in the eye of the beholder. They were my first forays into third person pov, and the first fics I wrote that weren't from Xaden or Violet's pov (not including Swan Song in that count bc those characters were all OCs). I really enjoyed writing both, but man was it hard to go back and forth between writing my first person fics and the third person ones.

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

Definitely Violet Sorrengail's Guide to Spinning a Scandal. That was my first time participating in any kind of fic exchange, and I thought the idea was great but wasn't sure that many others would think the same. castles crumbling didn't have as many people reading it at the time and I had maybe like 25 followers here on Tumblr, so I was fully expecting no one to really read VSGTSAS. I was thrilled when people read it as much as they did when I was publishing it, but it was definitely really surprising for me at the time!

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

cold woman! I absolutely adored this fic, because I think Lilith is such an interesting, multi-faceted character. I cried SO HARD when she died, and being able to write out what I thought her final thoughts were was really interesting.

8. Who is an artist that inspired you?

All of them! That might be overly generic. I literally like and save just about every piece of art I come across, but I tend to follow writers more than artists if that makes sense, so I probably couldn't name a specific one.

9. Who is an author that inspired you?

Going to copy @skyfallscotland and say @justallihere. Reading SITQ inspired me to start writing Swan Song, which was where I got my start writing fanfic!

10. Who is a new author you discovered?

Does myself count? Jk -- @widebrimmedhatsblog and @suebswrites! The number of times I've read their work is astounding; they're absolutely phenomenal!

Pulling myself out there, first and foremost! I was SO scared to post the first chapter of Swan Song back in February -- I was convinced that people would hate it. And while it really didn't have many readers before I put it on hiatus, writing it helped me figure out what I wanted out of writing fan fiction and how I wanted to write it. I'm equally proud of myself for not giving into the pressure to push myself to update more or write my stories a specific way because that was what people wanted from me. As a chronic people-pleaser, that was a big milestone for me.

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

I learned that sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone! If I hadn't done that and let my nerves stop me from publishing that first fic, I never would have gained the wonderful community I have through the FW fandom.

14. Any advice you’d like to share with new or aspiring writers?

Writing fanfic is what you make of it! Comment on the fics you read, shamelessly promote yourself, and write what you want to write -- not what others want you to write (unless you also want to write it!)

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

Finish cc, finish the Did Someone Say Shots? series and danger zone and XRGTSAS, and then getting around to writing my super secret wip fic!

I honestly think Penny would be a comfy girlfriend rather than an adventurous one. Which isn’t horrible depending on what you’re into.

Like she totally is the type of girl to try to cook and bake for you as her way to show you that one she loves you and two that she’s wifey material

Like Penny doesn’t date for fun at all, she’s definitely a date for marriage type of person. So her entire goal is to marry and have kids with you some day.

I think she’s a VERY jealous person, but doesn’t show it often because she wants to be seen as secure and like she trusts you, which she does she just has a bit of trauma.

She would come home from work(either teaching specifically Jas and Vincent or working at an actual school) and tell you stories of what she and the kids did that day.

LOVES seeing you interact with kids, like actually gets a dreamy look in her eyes as if you’re a prince that she’s meeting.

I do think that she would be a VERY sweet girlfriend, like she’s constantly fawning over you, complementing you, and making sure that you feel secure, beautiful, and loved in your relationship. She has the opinion that if you’re feeling down then she’s not doing something right.

I do think that it would be sort of stressful being with her because she takes everything to heart, she gets hurt very easily and while you don’t have to walk on eggshells you do have to be careful how you word things.

ALSO I think if your first language isn’t English she would take the time to learn at least the most basic phrases in your language, just to show how serious she is about you.

I think having you meet Pam(if you hadn’t already) she would stress over it and ramble to you about what to expect for DAYS before you actually meet her.

Like her own father left, and while she loves her mother she’s sort of scared that Pam will cause you to leave because of her behavior.

Meeting your parents she would also stress. She wants to be seen as the PERFECT daughter in law. Like she doesn’t want them to have anything negative to say about her. She’ll help with dishes, any other household chores, basically try to make the family like her by being helpful and sweet.

Likes to read together. Like it doesn’t matter if she’s reading to you, or you’re reading to her, or even you’re both reading your own books side by side, she just wants to share her love of stories with you.

I also think she’s very touchy and clingy. She always wants to be all over you and even in public while she’s not a big fan of PDA she always needs to be holding your hand or your arm in some way. She wants your relationship to be one that people are jealous of and strive after lmao.

Work I’m most proud of (and why): Okay there is one standout answer in my mind, easy. It's my "With Magic Soaking My Spine" Merlin fic. I had this idea that I loved and I thought it was far too big for me to write, but I did it anyways out of love. I poured SO MUCH love into that story. I can't believe I almost didn't post it - or write it at all - because I thought I wouldn't be able to give my idea what it truly deserved.

It is, by far, the work I am most proud of. The idea that I loved was this 'what if misunderstandings au' that I knew I wanted to make comedic but as I wrote it knew I wanted to make it so sad as well. And I am so proud of how balanced it turned out. I also set out from the story to make it a love story between friends - a dedication of sorts to platonic relationships - and I could not be any prouder of how well I achieved that goal.

I wanted to focus on tender friendships, funny misunderstandings, and heartbreaking vulnerability. And I do think I achieved that.

So no matter what sort of 'oh I wish this wasn't so clumsy' or 'I wish I had polished the transitions better' - this fic is the work I am most proud of.

And that it resonated with so many people - I just am grateful and proud. That does make me really proud. This fic has the most 'Oh I actually laughed' comments out of any of mine.

Also!! I'm really proud of "Been Waiting For The Sun" (also Merlin BBC lol) because I set out to write something that was like how I used to write and it turned out pretty imo. It had the depth I wanted, the romanticism of an internal reflection. So that one really ended up how I had wanted to, how I envisioned it. Usually my fics fall short of my too large aspirations. But that one ended up how I'd imagined it.

Work I’m least proud of (and why): Sometimes I get really embarrassed about my fics because I know they're self indulgent. (Which is okay! I know that! But it still hits me sometimes.)

I only cringe because know they could be written way way better. At the time of writing, I really was a lot better at accepting my faults and writing to write without being self conscious of my shortcomings because at least I was writing and having fun.

But the thing is!! I never want to rewrite them because they are oddly charming in how bad they are. Because you can SEE that it's just my love for the ideas that kept me going. And people resonated with that!

So in a weird way I am VERY proud of how 'bad' they are. Because they're so full of love, and I think that's something to be proud of.

I'm not going to name a fic, actually, because I AM proud of all my fics. And I know how much hard work and love I pour into writing these, and so I just can't ever throw one under the bus. No matter how embarrassed I am by myself I get, I also just... cannot pick one. I thought I could but seeing some typed was like breaking my heart what do you MEAN I'm least proud of that fic or that one when I love them so so much because they are my children

share or describe a favorite review you received: I have so many I love!! I always think of the people who are in a situation where they are not supposed to laugh but do; they are in public, they wake up their cat, it's 3am. I have SO many favorites!!! Myth and Audie's comments on "Been Waiting For The Sun" are so sweet. And there are SO MANY really insightful comments on my DC fics (dustorange dear I know you are reading this and YES! You especially!!)

But my first thought for comments is ALWAYS this one from "With Magic Soaking My Spine" bc they were reading the story and stopped to comment about this part I had thought was particularly funny and HAD TO TAKE A BREAK from it I love it.

^ That is THE comment I think about first when I think of comments I've received. I love it so much.

A time when writing was really, really hard: These past few years!! Okay more than a few.

This is a little personal and I don't want to get into the specifics of it, but writing has increasingly been a mental and physical challenge for me. I am progressively getting dumber and dumber - this is a fact, not a fish for compliments - and so that makes writing really hard in multiple ways. Mentally and physically, it just makes things harder to write by far and those are my biggest obstacles. It's like banging my head on the wall over and over again but I WANT to write despite that resistance - and sometimes my head is like a wrecking ball that it finally breaks through the wall enough for me to do so but the process just is painful. Emotionally, I do really struggle as well and lose motivation to write, even putting aside the mental and physical barriers that make writing hard for me, because I get frustrated with myself for not being the person I thought I would be if it wasn't for my existing factors.

I think it's something most people will think they can relate to - falling short of their ideal self - but I am being very literal about this. I don't just feel like I am dumber; writing is genuinely painful for me because thinking is painful for me and so my brain just... cannot think like it used to. And is dumber as result.

A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: Okay tmi but as I told my friends "I don't WHAT is in the water for SPN but it made me write a kink fic" (rated T though because I'm me) and I'd never ever had guessed I'd write that. But it was fun and imo a fun character study exercise.

A favourite excerpt of your writing: Okay from 2024?

When Sam re-entered the dining area, it took only a couple steps for Dean's head to swivel upwards and to the side, pin-pointing him with an intense look before his shoulders eased. Keeping his eyes on Sam, he grinned a brilliant smile and said something to Jo that made her scowl. He turned his gaze back to her as he laughed, loud and bright.

I like that because the Sam/Ash fic "The Smell of Your Hello" wasn't about Dean at all but I managed to do the brothers' intense bond justice in just the couple lines where Dean did show up.

I do like "An Ounce Of Peace Is All I Want For You"'s

The hair length looked a little familiar. With silent eyes, Dean measured it and tried to compare each strand to his Sam. It was a difficult task. These days, he often couldn't bear to look at his Sam. He counted bangs and layers and tried to match it in his head. There was a time when he could've placed each and every strand, no matter the way it parted. But now Dean looked and looked and could only visualize that maybe it was different from Sam's silhouette.

Uh of all time? Hard to say!

Maybe from "Twinges When It's About To Rain"

Today, just as it has always been in these years of doing this, he enters the room and approaches the couch. Bruce glances over the novel in his hands and then resumes reading, now with a small smile. Dick climbs onto the couch with years of practice, snuggles close to Bruce in a way that isn't possible outside this parlor room, outside of this couch so beloved to Bruce first and now beloved to Dick as well. A family heirloom of emotional attachment.

I REALLY like that last sentence. It's one of my faves.

I think - out of all time - it once again comes to "With Magic Soaking My Spine" as the winner. It's my favorite fic of mine for a reason, I guess.

"Do you ever think about the Fisher King?" Merlin blurted out. "And about how lonely he was?"

Arthur shook his head. "The Fisher King was long dead when we came upon him. He couldn't have been lonely. Merlin, is everything alright?"

"He still must have been lonely," Merlin argued even though he couldn't tell Arthur that the Fisher King had been alive only moments before Arthur had entered that room. "Being in that room, all alone, knowing he was going to die."

Arthur stood up, alarmed. "Merlin, what are you - " He stepped around the desk and raised one hand, as if to touch him.

"I think I'm lonely too," Merlin continued on, and Arthur paused. And then, gently, he let his hand come upon Merlin's shoulder like he had intended.

"I understand," Arthur said quietly.

Merlin shook his head. "I don't think you do. But I want you to."

Arthur stared at him intently, mouth pursed as he contemplated Merlin before him and his words. "Alright. Then tell me."

Having that vulnerability in my comedy fic was absolutely necessary and I think it's one of my best passages and one of my best characterizations. I can hear Merlin say it.

How did you grow as a writer last year: At the end of the year, I really tried to just embrace my writing regardless whether or not it was what I wanted it to be. I actually had some days of clarity in December where I got a lot of writing done and tried to focus on being thankful for that instead of wishing that I could do better than I am able to do.

How do you hope to grow this year: I want to write things and not hold them up to my personal standard. I used to be better at that, but it's so hard for me because I know I can do better in theory. But I will end up not posting at all if I waited until for myself to be 'better.'

It's a hard balance, but I want to try and accept my shortcomings while still trying to make things as polished as I can. I really do wrack myself over it, and I want to try and give myself the grace to be stupid. Yeah maybe there's no ending or no intro, but that's okay. Maybe I could have written this better, had I not been in the physical and mental state that I am, but I AM this way, and so maybe my writing shouldn't be on hold until I am 'better' because I'm not getting better. I don't need to be better in order to exist. Yeah, I want to give myself permission to exist in messy, stupid ways.

That being said!! I hope to grow by not giving up on myself either!! I don't want to accept that I can never try! I am ALWAYS trying!

It's such a hard balance for me, but I hope to grow by trying less and trying more - which sounds wild, I know.

Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer, beta, cheerleader, etc.): Okay so. I do have two friends I go to and just tell them all my writing ambitions and they kindly cheerlead for me, even when it's not their fandom. But they are my cheerleaders more than them influencing me. You know, I have to go with @future-dregs bc SO many of the tag conversations we have just get me so inspired to create something. The conversations make me go '!!!!' and then I just am excited.

Anything from your real life show up in your writing last year: Yes. I'd like to say [redacted] but like. I'm already oversharing so! Here we go!

Writing about mentally ill characters tends to work in experience from my life. It's just one of those things. Writing about Dick Grayson, Sam Winchester - yeah I draw from experience.

And I was undiagnosed for a long long time (still am for some of the things) so characters that aren't ~officially~ mentally ill are my Favorite kinds. Like they are - it's canon for sure but they're not given a name for their mental illness. So I can rub my little hands together and do whatever I want.

Also "tell yourself it's never gonna happen again" is inspired from my life 😬

Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: Honestly dustorange said it best: "If what you want to write doesnt seem like it will have an audience and no one will want to write it but you REALLY love your idea, WRITE IT and do so with such like satisfaction and like dignity that you’re writing something truly a product of YOU and YOUR intuitions and knowledge and desires and thoughts, not just some burned-CD version of what you think some abstract Audience arbiter of popularity wants. Don’t even worry about things being popular. I know people say dont worry about that and then it is sad when your thing is unpopular or less popular and its like okay well. But its serious and its very important to not let people pick you up and move you from what you want."

But I guess my advice would also be to write whatever you want. Write the 'overdone' trope that's been done a million times. YOURS is worth writing. Get weirder. Write the fic you think no one will read but YOU want to write. Your idea seems too common? Too outlandish? Write it.

It seems not enough? Write it!!!!

You'll be amazed at yourself later. In the moment it might feel awkward or embarrassing. But when you listen to your inner self, there's something inside you that grows. It's a muscle you are strengthening. And the only way to do that is to do that! It feels clumsy sometimes trying to follow your heart, but you can practice! You can grow more comfortable with yourself!

And this is not to be confused with 'you have to come up with ideas on your own.' That is not what I mean by listening to yourself. Community is such a beautiful, fun thing, and if you get ideas from that then that's wonderful! You don't have to abstain from writing about the things you talk about with other people in attempt to 'only listen to yourself.'

But what I mean is that if you are enjoying an idea, you are thinking about it, and you find yourself wondering what that idea would look like - give into it! Give it a chance! And if you did get your idea from community discussions, please forget what the 'reception' of your idea would be like. I know sometimes I feel like my idea wouldn't live up to the hype or the intelligence that other people bring to the table. So sometimes that's scary or cringe! I get it. But that's what doing it for you means. You want to imagine what this idea looks like? Please do so. It's like trying a new flavor of ice cream. Maybe it'll be a sample, maybe you'll take home a pint, maybe you love it, maybe you think you are the only person in the world who would taste this flavor, maybe you think it should be popular but will be overlooked because of other flavors, maybe you're scared of not getting your usual flavor, maybe you convince yourself to not get ice cream at all because of it. But listen!! You can!! You CAN!!

Once I wrote a rarepair fic where I was the 2nd ever fic for that pairing. There was NO demand for that, I thought, but I wanted to write it. It's one of my favorite fics even though it's cheesy because I wrote it for me - and also personally because I feel like I did their characterizations well. Six years later as I'm checking, there are now 13 fics total with that pairing. And I just think that's neat.

My fics have moments or scenes or conversations that are so self indulgent. My friend read me for filth and once said I write the conversations I wish I could have. And it's true! That inspires a LOT of my writing! I just like to write the things I want to work through, whether that's fluff or angst or whatever.

And I think there's a lot of pressure for people to finish multi-chaptered fics but you can literally start an infinite amount of them. If you want to work on something new, you are ALLOWED! I often take YEARS in between chapter updates. Also so far only 1 (one) person has ever complained about it lol. So don't think that you have this obligation to never start something unless you know you can finish it. Start it anyways!!! So many of my favorite stories are 'incomplete' but they complete ME!!! Don't be afraid of starting! (I'm still working on that for one shots lol! It's scary thinking you won't ever finish something but you have GOT to try anyways!)

Any projects you’re looking to starting (or finishing) this year: My FebuWhump fics are actually progressing really good, so I'm going to be able to participate this year! And not only participate but quite a few! I'm really surprised! And one of them, I am far more proud of than the others. I am really looking forward to posting that one! (SPN fans be on the lookout for 'A Garden Locked Up' come February 👀)
