The one curious thing on Archie's bowtie -- it (or maybe they -- the story has multiple time settings) gets colored entirely green for the rest of the story, even as the spots remain. This opening panel is the only one with white spots. This reprint foregoes this by removing the circles.

So. Archie is set up, required, to take a girl out -- daughter of someone Fred needs business contact with -- and Archie is horrified to find that he is dating a nerd.

Looking over tv tropes dot com, useful here despite its flaws and limitations in concept, and looking for something beyond that Breakfast Club scene or various teenage movie remakes for The Taking of the Shrew, and I find some variants of My Fair Lady dropped into the mix. The "remove the glasses" act becomes a go-to item in parody.

Glove colored in for the third panel. Funny that question mark at the end of panel 4 -- it is a mistake yet there is a curious sense in her inflecting this as a question.

Jughead tends to get dropped from most "bunch of horny guys' reaction" shots. He disappear after that panel. The changes in the dresses are interesting -- Betty's hemline rises, Veronica loses a truss, Carol's frills are cut. Fashion forward -- except for the gloves.

Only way to go is yet more beautiful and yet dumber, I guess. Notices: They separated "in" and "fact" in the first panel. Color miscues made on Carol's legs in the second panel. And white hair on extras do not seem to fly past 1962 or so in Archie.
